Introducing: TNM 7 SE Multimedia Engine

Oliver CoppPosted on 06/24/03 at 20:23:18

Over the past few weeks, a lot of work has been invested into one project, or rather: a subproject, which was and is very important to me: ring introductions.

Back in 1998, having the option of playing ring themes in WAV and Real Audio was revolutionary for a DOS-based program.

In 2003, times have changed a lot so drastic measures were in order.

The bad news first: Real Audio is no longer supported by TNM 7 Second Edition. The reason for this is that "modern" versions of the Real Player / Real One can't be controlled as easily anymore from an outside application as the old versions.

Secondly, MP3 has advanced into the de-facto standard for music anyway so my goal was to create a new multimedia engine which didn't rely on outside helper applications anymore.

It should play WAV, MP3 and also videos in case the user prefers entrance videos. It now can play MPEG-video (MPEG1 for sure, MPEG2 in some instances) and well as DivX video (if the codec has been installed)... and it's going to be a part of TNM 7 Second Edition from Beta 9 onwards.

Hope the loss of Real Audio doesn't come as a shock to you as a tradeoff for having truly seamless integration of MP3s, WAVs, MPGs and AVIs.

Whooooo-hoooooo !!!!   :D

I have no themes to play as they come out........but since that part of mine never worked, I never needed them. Now maybe they will and maybe I can find the themes I need in MP3 form.  ;)

Any suggestions on where to look ?  ???

And thanks again, Oliver, for staying one step ahead & for keeping that overactive mind of mine occupied !!!   ;D

So to put it in simpler terms, does this mean TNM will play MP3's without anything popping up like it does WAV's?

Yes, that is absolutely what it means.

Even with video files, TNM never loses its focus and a keypress in TNM will close them.

Give this site a try. It's where I've been getting all my themes for close to a year now.

No problem UWF. Yeah, that site can be tempermental at times, but when it does work it's a great source for a lot of current and older themes.
