Questions regarding a new fed

UWFWHYTETYGERPosted on 05/22/03 at 21:23:08

I have been thinking of starting a new circuit called DMW. Dead Man's Wrestling. It has nothing but deceased wrestlers on the roster. First question is ...

Should I even do this fed or is it just a tad disrespectful ?

And second...

If I should go ahead, who do you think I should or should not use ?

Thanks in advance for all input !!   :D
CarlzillaPosted on 05/22/03 at 22:13:52

I think it's a pretty original idea actually. I mean if it's labled as a fantasy fed I don't think anyone has the right to get upset or feel it's distastful. I would probably check it out if you ran the fed and posted it somewhere.
UWFWHYTETYGERPosted on 05/22/03 at 22:18:29

Actually.....if I DO decide to run it, I'm pretty sure it will be posted around here somewhere...   ::)
UWFWhyteTygerPosted on 05/23/03 at 18:11:31

C'mon people......I know you have opinions, and I would really appreciate the input. I will post what COULD be the starting roster soon and I would appreciate any comments, good or bad, as well as anyone I might have forgotten.
UWFWhyteTygerPosted on 05/23/03 at 18:39:48

OK....Here is a quick run-down of my starting roster :

Rick Rude, Brian Pillman, Andre, Adrian Adonis, Dino Bravo, Owen Hart, Jeff Peterson, D.J. Peterson, Big John Studd, Big Dick Dudley, Jeff Raitz, Kerry Von Erich, Louie Spiccoli, Curt Hennig, Wahoo McDaniel, Prof. Toru Tanaka, Davey Boy Smith, JYD, Rocco Rock, The Renegade(!), Chris Adams, Billy Joe Travis, Eddie Gilbert, Art Barr, Buzz Sawyer, Terry Gordy, Russ Haas, Mike Davis, Gary Albright, Bobby Duncum Jr., Dick Murdoch, Brady Boone, Yokozuna, Bruiser Brody, Tony Rumble, & Shane Shamrock.

It will also feature commentary by Gorilla Monsoon and Gordon Solie. Referees are Joey Marella, Randy Anderson, and Mark Curtis.

If anyone thinks of someone I didn't, please let me know!
John ProulxPosted on 05/23/03 at 22:19:26

OK, who is this Thingy Murdoch guy  ??? ;) ?

Anyway, I'd at least add Ray Stevens to that list, plus any number of Japanese/Mexican wrestlers of the past.
UWFWhyteTygerPosted on 05/23/03 at 22:26:36

Dang censoring...supposed to be D-I-C-K Murdock. >:(   AND D-I-C-K Dudley..... I seem to have forgotten Ray Stevens for some reason, and am debating on adding a few Japanese wrestlers, such as Jumbo Tsuruta, and a few Mexican luchadores, such as Villanos 1 & 2.

Thanks for the input and reminders!
CarlzillaPosted on 05/23/03 at 23:09:01

Big thingy Dudley...hahaha. Isn't Giant Baba dead? I am not sure but I know one of those Japanese superstars passed away and I heard something about it.
UWFWhyteTygerPosted on 05/23/03 at 23:10:15

I have found a few more.....Villanos I and II, El Santo, Jay Strongbow, Mr. Wrestling, Jeep Swenson, Stan Stasiak, Jules Verne, Nelson Royal, Rikidozan, Hiro Matsuda, and Scott Irwin.

The only thing is, I think I want to go back no further than the early to mid-eighties. They just ceased aging at the point of death. A few of those named were just a little too far out of their prime by then.
John ProulxPosted on 05/24/03 at 03:05:29

When did Jay Strongbow die? I was under the impression he was still alive.

Another one you're missing is Crusher Blackwell. Also, if you really want to dig, you can add Uncle Elmer (Stan Frazier) to your list. And yes, Giant Baba is no longer with us.

I see you've got Kerry, but you've always got the option of most of the rest of his family. Nah, I don't think it's disrespectful. If anything, it's an original idea.

How about managers, while on the subject? Off the top of my head, I can only think of Elizabeth (though what she'd do when Randy isn't off the roster, I don't know). There's always the Grand Wizard and James Dudley, but they're probably a tad before the time frame you want.
Oliver CoppPosted on 05/25/03 at 23:15:34

If done in the right tone, it can be taken as tongue-in-cheek... or even as a tribute.

Big thingy Dudley... LOOOOL !

The Grand Wizard (Ernie Roth) was active in the WWF well into the 80s, as was Arnold Skaaland, so there's a couple more :) .

I think Brady Boone is another deceased ref, if you want to add him.

Actually I think that Boone also wrestled before becoming an offical but I could be wrong (first time for everything right)  =)

I actually think that he reffed, wrestled, and then reffed again.

I remember watching Nitro one night and then found out that Brady Boone was wrestling, in a large WTF incident.

But, I guess he could be put in as either a ref OR wrestler, although I haven't seen enough of his work to determine what moves etc. he did.

Brady Boone wrestled on Nitro?  Must have missed that one.  I know his son did ref some match and even wrestled in one of those HORRIBLE ref vs. ref matches against Slick Johnson I believe.

Oh, now I remember. It was his SON who was the wrestler. Thanks for clearing that up.  :)

Nevermind, put Brady Boone in as a ref (if you want another ref).
UWFWhyteTygerPosted on 05/27/03 at 14:41:21

Actually, Brady Boone WAS a wrestler first...even wrestled in WCW as Battlecat. I do, however, have him as a ref with Randy Anderson, Mark Curtis, and Joey Marella. Commentators are Gorilla Monsoon and Gordon Solie. And as far as managers go, Elizabeth, Tojo Yamamoto, Grand Wizard, The Shiek, and Tony Rumble are all I have so far.

I think I'm ready to go ahead with the circuit...now I just need to make sure I can get all the wrestlers in the database..........

(BTW...changed the name to LCW....Last Chance Wrestling!)

Was he WWE/F's Battle Kat also?  I remember him from maybe a hand full of old Prime Times and was kind of entertained by him because he did moves you didn't see at that time period.

UWFWhyteTygerPosted on 05/27/03 at 18:26:56

That's him. If memory serves me right, he also competed as himself in the GWF, USWA, and WCCW as well ! I was so disturbed to see him reffing instead of wrestling........oh well.                      :'(
CarlzillaPosted on 05/27/03 at 20:33:37

I like the original name better than the new one...just my opinion though.
UWFWhyteTygerPosted on 05/27/03 at 20:49:24

Hmmmmmm......I dunno. Dead Man's Wrestling sounds too much like it is owned by Underatker. I figured Last Chance sounded good and seems appropriate for those wrestlers who really aren't around anymore.

Maybe I should start another thread for people to vote on the name.....the name with the most votes stays.
CarlzillaPosted on 05/27/03 at 23:43:38

I don't know about everyone else but to me Last Chance Wrestling sounds like the place where you would see people who used to have a push or used to be big with the fans who for some reason messed that up and now need to prove themselves again or retire.
H8-SuperstarPosted on 05/29/03 at 07:03:40

You forgot Bruiser Brody. Add in Kodo Fuyuki.
