Question about stables

Tom_ImpPosted on 04/18/03 at 20:03:35

I've noticed that whenever I import new files the wrestlers, managers, moves, and tag teams all change but the stables never do.

Do the stables just not carry over into an export file or do those of you who actually make these files never change what came with TNM?

Stables do not carry over.

I think the reason being that they work differently than Tag Teams and other databases.  The way they are currently set up, stables can only contain wrestlers in your database.  So if you exported a wrestler right now and stables came only, it would list your wrestler as the only member of that stable.  Same thing happens when you do an new instal of TNM7 - if the only member of the nWo you choose to have installed is Hogan then you go to Stables -> nWo it wont list all the members, just Hogan (cause he's the only one in your database).

I'm not really sure why Oliver didn't do Stables the same way as Tag Teams (where you can specify people not in your database), maybe he can explain?

It's been quite a bit of time since then, so please forgive me if I don't remember the exact details that went into the decision making process.

Basically what Josh said is what happened.

In tag teams, names are textual, i.e. the wrestler's actual names are stored in the tag team database, whereas with stables, it's the wrestler's internal ID.

If it doesn't seem to make sense to you, then it probably doesn't make sense in hindsight ;-)
