Mr. Copp, What are your Intentions?

Oliver,

DC Hamilton of Geeksoft.net here. I must say I was pleasantly surprised to find your site being updated again. You may have noticed that Geeksoft.net has fallen into a bit of a dormant state lately, much like TNM7.com did for so long.

The reason I'm posting is because I may be the last member of Geeksoft who is still trying. Geeksoft, along with the Zeus and G-Fed franchises, are unfortunately on the brink of extinction. It has taken everything I have to keep it alive despite flagging interest from the other three members.

The development of Zeus V, probably TNM 7's biggest would-be threat to date, has flagged as well, ever since Clownworks closed the door on NCW.

I'm curious. Do you have intentions on reviving the TNM series? Or is this simply an update to the site?

I have hope that some friendly, spirited competition between Geeksoft and TNM might revive both sites.

By the way, good to see you back. I've never actually spoken/chatted with you, but Brian has and tells me you're a pretty good guy.

Pleasure to meet you,
DC Hamilton

DC,

thanks for the kind words.

The first intention was and is to give the site a new layout and use some new features to strengthen the community again.

The next logical step would be to rewrite TNM as a Windows application but that probably isn't going to happen anytime soon. What I have been considering, though, is recreating program parts one by one (e.g. the scheduler, the Control Center or the circuit menu) as Windows apps and releasing them as plugins.

It's just a matter of return on investment. My university days are long gone and the first and foremost factor in my decisions is putting food on the table for my family. When before I would just start coding and not have to worry about anybody else than myself, things are different when there are more mouths to feed *g*. What it all boils down to is the question whether the time needed to redesign (and hence time lost for doing paid work today) will pay off in the future, and that question at the moment is something I would answer with "no" due to wrestling sort of being in the hole so to speak.

All the best.
