ARENA PLUGIN??? WASN'T THERE ONE ?

I thought I remember an arena plugin, like choosing a venue or something... where is that?

Yeah, there was one.. As I recall it never really worked right for anybody. Ryan Solberg has stated that he was working on an updated version, but nobody's heard from him in forever.

In the meantime, this website is damn useful for finding any sized stadium in just about anywhere in the world.

The original arena plugin was just bad.  Great idea, but hardly worked, and if they didn't take the time to look up how many people an arena actually held, they just randomly said, "10,000" and that was that.

and the plugin as I remember it, has a LOT of venues that are outside stadiums that are being called "arenas".  If not mistaken, it has Hulman Stadium in Terre Haute in it.  And as Ryan can attest, no one goes to the stadium... especially the 0-4 football team (they have now lost 21 straight and the current head coach is now 0-15 in his run as head coach... go fighting trees)

True, it does.

I am still in the process of updating all of the arenas in the countries that it has in it.

HOPFULLY I shouls be done soon, and will post the new arena listings.

Okay, so...

I actually took the time to go through the Arena.dat file in the Arenas plugin (because I discovered it actually DOES work with SE (at least Build 5) and updated ALL the arenas; I got rid of the ones that were either A. Demolished or B. No information readily available on, updated the capacity figures (no more blanket 10,000 numbers), fixed the names (Rosemont Horizon is now All State Arena, etc.)...

Only problem is, now that I'm checking it in TNM7, some of the seating figures seem to have... shifted. For example, I have Madison Square Garden listed as 20,000 seat capacity, yet when i select it and run the plugin, it lists the capacity as 9,000.

Anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this or... did I just waste an entire night of my life I could've better spent downloading Ghostbusters eps on YouTube (also: porn)?

EDIT: Also, I seem to recall there having been a program that helped you edit the Arena.dat file. Anyone know if there ever was such a thing and, if so, where I might find it?

The Arena plugin has always worked on SE for me.

With the capacity issue, the plugin always uses the last entered arena's capacity, which is yes, very annoying. I generally use the circuit editor to edit the "match" entry for it and change the capacity and attendance.

I don't suppose anyone knows a way of actually editing the plugin's code? I'm not looking to redistribute this thing under my own name, I just wanna be able to use an accurate version of it again.

I could easily edit the code of Ryan had ever made it available. However, he hasn't as far as I know. I could try e-mailing him to see if he'd be interested in releasing the source...
