An old request I'd like to see...
Snabbit888 | Posted on 08/02/05 at 06:03:08 I still think I'm the only proponent of this, but I'd love for there to be the possibility of career-ending injuries. Of course there would be the user option to override them if you don't want it, but I love to deal with injuries and stuff like that, and it seems like it would be a simple thing to implement (cue my lack of programming knowledge now :)) I would also like to second the addition of some new injuries as well. Things like a concussion, torn ACL, cracked ribs, etc. would add some more depth to the sim, and Oliver, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it just be some added lines of text in the injury programming? |
Oliver Copp | Posted on 08/02/05 at 15:03:15 Ryan - you are absolutely right on both counts :-) The latter is being planned for Build 4 anyway. The former needs some more thought. Yes, it would be doable. However: where would you draw the line? The only two examples in WWE I can come up with in the last 20 years are Droz and Owen Hart... Anyone? |
Zedja | Posted on 08/02/05 at 15:16:04 How about Chris Nowinski?? |
Oliver Copp | Posted on 08/02/05 at 15:31:13 In his case, wasn't it really the sum of several concussions, most of which he got during his time playing college football, as opposed to a single career-ending injury? |
Snabbit888 | Posted on 08/02/05 at 19:47:55 Sid's broken leg effectively killed his career. And was Steve Blackman's neck a specific event or wear and tear? I obviously wouldn't expect it to be an event that happens frequently. But just the fact that it IS possible that your career could end with any match if something goes wrong is enough for me to think it should be at least an option. If you disagree, I understand. But note I'll egg your house, Oliver. I may not have full arms, but I throw a mean egg. :) |
Oliver Copp | Posted on 08/02/05 at 22:29:08 Oh, I don't disagree at all, Ryan, not at all. I just want to hear a few other opinions as well... maybe there's a twist I could add that would make that feature more useful to everybody else. |
Snabbit888 | Posted on 08/02/05 at 22:36:50 Maybe add something to the way injuries are handled? Something like a "chance of full recovery." For instance, if you break a figner, more than likely it won't adversely affect your health when you recover. But if you snap your femur, maybe you'd have a 60% chance of a full recovery. Then obviously if a wrestler has 0% of full recovery, it's a career-ender. I'm sure this could be thought through far fully than this, but it is a first impression of what came to mind. |
Some Guy | Posted on 08/10/05 at 14:27:14 I don't really like the idea of carrer ending injuies at all. That sounds like something that should be planned, not randomly determined by the sim. |
Snabbit888 | Posted on 08/10/05 at 20:14:22 Though that's your opinion, Some Guy, in real life I'm sure Droz or WWE didn't plan ahead for his career to be ended. No one plans to be injured; sometimes it just happens. And it would ideally have the option to be overridden if you so desired. |
Unright | Posted on 08/11/05 at 02:06:13 One time when I had a wrestler quit during a major angle, I turned it into a career ending injury. I figured as long as I didn't use them again it was fine. Although if I had brought back in later it could be one of those Shawn Michaels deals. |
The Phantom | Posted on 08/11/05 at 02:32:47 I like this idea so long as it could be overridden if you so desired. It would be so cool and suck at the same time if I saw that someone had a career ending injury. Though if it happened to one of my jobbers, I wouldn't care too much. ;D |
TNM7 | Posted on 09/24/06 at 06:59:27 I know this isn't a "Career Ender" but back in TNM6.2+ Vader broke his back and ws out for like ..60 cards! SOMEHOW he made it back to the Main Event and won the US Title. Of course I had to strip him of it, but that could have been a "Career-Killer" injury. Sam |
