Can this be fixed

ZedjaPosted on 08/08/05 at 20:28:44

I just copied and pasted this from Kevin's O'Keefe's topic in the TNM Circuit forum as I noticed something wrong with the wording..

Shawn Michaels executes the Sweet Chin Music on Triple H.
The crowd erupts.
Shawn Michaels goes for the pin.
Rudy Charles counts: One, two, ** Ric Flair puts Triple H's foot on the rope.
Triple H takes the sledgehammer and uses it on him.

This would mean Triple H used the sledgehammer on Ric Flair... Could you change it so that instead of him/her it says the opponents name? If not for now, then for build 4??

I noticed that too, but didn't want to say anything  :)

Try listing this under HELP instaed of WISH LIST. It seems like more of a programming glitch than a new feature.

It's not really a glitch, just wrong wording. And this is a wish to get it fixed ;)

I mean the program works despite this being fixed or not.

Well, the wording was just awkward due to the preceding spot of Flair saving Triple H. Normally it would have been perfectly ok.

Going off on that tangent, I would have to remove every single "him" and "her" in there because no matter what Triple H did next, it would have sounded strange.

Still, changed it for Build 4. Can't give you a patch now because I don't maintain two different code branches.

That's ok ;) It's just a minor inconveniance anyway. I wonder if you can do the change just when a interferance like that occurs..

Like:

If <Other> interfers on line(-1) then
change "him" to "<Opponent>"
Else
Carry on

Yeah, bad example as that code would never work even in ASP, but it shows how I think anyway.

Can - yes... but I'd have to change it in at least 100 places.
ZedjaPosted on 08/09/05 at 11:34:16

Ouch.. Sorry I asked... Cut and paste??
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/09/05 at 12:17:30

No dice... it's not as simple as that. The problem is that TNM uses fairly natural-language sentences. And something like this is where that approach bites you in the a.. ;-)
