Handing Over Titles

John ProulxPosted on 06/11/05 at 01:27:17

With the new circuit title plugin coming out, I can now potentially ask for something I pretty much knew was impossible until now.

Using this plugin, will it now be possible to see when and to whom titles were "Handed Over"? Or is this already planned :) ?

If you use the circuit editor you could do this!
I guess you could schedule an Interview & then type so & so had to hand over the title....  And in your title histories, it should look something like this:

WWF Wrestlemania XIII...............April.30th,1995

Shawn Michaels pinned The Undertaker after Sweet Chin Music at 0:14:38.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Shawn Michaels won the WWF World Title.)

WWF RAW...................................October.30th,1995
Interview:
Shawn "The Baby" Michaels Forfeits Title To Bret Hart
(Bret Hart won the WWF World Title.)
I'm not exactly sure on if that will work, but I remember doing something like that in one of my old circuits.
I remember I had to erase a Title Win once, because I wanted the match to be a Double-DQ but I didn't know how to book it.  So I just removed the line where it says so & So won the world title.
I'm sure that aslong as you add the line  (XXXXX won the XXXX Title.)   where the XXXXX's are the Wrestler & Titles Names....  And put it exactly like that, including the period at the end, it should show up in the historys!

That'd be a useful work-around, it's just a chunk of extra work, and I'm lazy ;D. Besides, there've been times in my feds when such a title change have occurred "off-camera". Also, what if I want to just award someone a title -- say, I want to start a new fed and have champions already in place, or perhaps I've just started a new title and I want to give it to a specific wrestler (like how Triple H got the RAW Title)? I just wanted to know if the new plugin could (or would) be set up to handle these things.

Hmm, not sure about how the Plugin will work for "Handing Over Titles" & stuff....

I can't speak for Oliver, all I know is that I think TNM reads for the (XXXXX won the XXXX Title.) line when reading title histories.

And I'm sure it'll do the same when reading defenses,  (XXXXX retained the XXXX Title.)
Oliver CoppPosted on 07/17/05 at 14:29:00

Dominus is absolutely correct in that the plugin parses the results TNM generates. Hence, it can't "see" titles being handed over.

I might be able to program something where it'd be able to "guess" some instances but it wouldn't be perfect, and if I implement an 80% solution, people will complain that it's missing some title changes. Hence, I think it's better not to go down that road at all and make it clear that titles being handed over won't be picked up.

Would it be possible to make the new program recognize such phrases as...

(The World title was Vacated.)

and

(The World title was handed over to XXXX.)

If they are manually put in by the user?
Oliver CoppPosted on 07/18/05 at 09:47:06

Yes, but it would have to be in the right context.

If a title is vacated and filled, I can make the program automatically pick up on it. If it is handed over, there's no 100% foolproof way of doing that.

Will Dominus' idea of using the Interview Integrator work? Now that it's free, I'd be fine with using the II to announce such events if they'll be registered by the Circuit History plugin.

I've done it a couple of times in my circuit - it won't say you've specifically handed it over, but at least it'll show up in your title history.

Maybe that's the answer, then -- Oliver, what about setting some kind of flag within the II that the CH plugin can pick up? Like, say, if we want the hand-over to show up in the CH, it has to be worded in a particular way. This would also get around it being counted as a match/defense, if that's an issue.
