Card Importance and Hiring

I was chatting with Socko and we were thinking that the relative "importance" of a card should be a factor in such things as match ratings and wrestlers giving notice. We were thinking that if we book a "lower" priority show like Heat or Xplosion, much lower-level wrestlers may headline, but that might actually cause them to leave because of too much pressure from "headlining" a card, even though it is nowhere as important a card as a RAW or even a PPV! Perhaps something that would take that into effect for those of us that book a television style federation. Plus, audience reaction might be different if it is house show versus a major televised event. Something to think about, maybe!

if you are running a TV based circuit, keep in mind that if it's like WWE, they tape their Velocity and Heat matches prior to their bigger RAW and Smackdown matches and on the same cards.  They then post produce them into the smaller/lesser shows.

If they taped Velocity or Heat as an entirely seperate event, then your thoughts would be more accurate.

I realize that the WWE tapes Heat and Velocity during bigger shows. The problem is that I personally resolve the cards seperately throughout the week, which means that while a main event Heat match might be fourth or fifth during the night at a "real life" taping, I run it on a seperate night, the night it would air, which means that guys are getting in main events who TNM may not deem as "main event" calibre wrestlers. The other big problem, of course, is house shows. I want to run them on the nights they would happen, but same problem. WWE runs _those_ cards on seperate nights, so, again, a guy main eventing a house show may not be a guy that would main event a PPV or major televised show. This is why I am suggesting giving cards "weights".

It is a good idea, even though it would be simplest to run the matches on the same card as SD or Raw (I do that). If you post your cards somewhere, you can always post the shows seperately, cut and paste sort off.

As for house shows, the main even is usually guys that would main event anyway (JBL, Big Show, Angle, Orton, Trips) in most cases.

still, the idea is a good one.
