Rewind: useless?

AnubisPosted on 07/21/04 at 07:27:20

I like the Rewind feature.  What I don't like is that it's apparently useless.  I tried to use "H" and "F" with Rewind after missing something to record it for my HTML, but it doesn't work.

So here's something I'm sure would be great: make a function that allows you to save the parts during a Rewind.

I disagree with a lot of what I see you post, but you're dead on with this.  The rewind feature is nice and all now, but until we can take highlights of the page we go back to view, it isn't really a useful or convenient feature, merely one which is moderately nifty.

For people like me who usually don't bother saving the finish, it works just fine, hence I find it pretty useful. Granted those who need to save finishes might not want to use it until it's been tweaked to cater for them, but I get plenty of use out of it, so that's alright then.

I just have to wonder WHY you can't save the highlights right now.  I wouldn't think using one hotkey would cancel all others.

Perhaps this was overlooked by Oliver?  His statements imply that you should be able to save highlights now.  So maybe it's a bug in TNM.

I hope Oliver sees this post so he can address the possibility.

Actually, it didn't occur to me that people might want to save that page :)

I'll post a patch for it soon (as in: ASAP).

Please unzip the following patch into your PROGRAM folder:

TNM 7 SE Build 2a

The Rewind patch is experimental.

Use it this way:

* to trigger Rewind, press "w"
* you can then use "h" and "f" - use these only once unless you want the same page to be saved multiple times!
* press "w" again to return to the finish; only then can the match end (you can use "h" and "f" again here)
