1992 Wrestling Universe?

Psymin1Posted on 09/03/08 at 22:51:42

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a way to download the 1992 rosters for WCW, and any other professional promotions around at that time.  I have the 1992 WWF Rosters off of TNM-UK, but I'm having a hard time getting any of the other pro wrestlers of that time period.  I'm looking for people like Lex Luger, Chris Benoit, Ron Simmons, Cactus Jack, Dustin Rhodes, Arn Anderson, Sting, etc.  Any help would be awesome, even if its how to edit some current exports to make them more like their 1992 counterparts.  Thanks guys!

If ya find it, let me know.. That would be a good database to have as a start up.

Johnny B. Badd
Larry Zybysko
Lex Luger
Marcus Alexander Bagwell
Michael Hayes
Mr. Hughes
Nikita Koloff
Paul Orndorff
Richard Morton
Rick Rude
Rick Steiner
Ricky Steamboat
Ron Simmons
Scott Steiner
Scotty Flamingo
Shane Douglas
Shanghai Pierce
Steve Austin
Steve Williams
Sting
Terry Gordy

It's probably worth adding the New Japan guys who were semi-regulars at the time, especially since most of them held titles. Namely Masahiro Chono, Great Muta, Kensuke Sasaki, and Jushin Liger (though Liger didn't hold any WCW titles then that I remember). Fujinami's run happened through 1991 so I'd exclude him.

Yeah, that's what I used to put my list together. I only included the guys I feel are most important for this - does anybody really want an Oz export??

Only to prove how much Kevin Nash has, and always will be an overrated peice of crap, LOL, other than that, no.

Ironically enough he probably did his best in-ring work while he was Oz. I'm not saying it was great or anything, but he at least actually looked like he wanted to work for his paycheck.

And c'mon, The Patriots weren't important enough?!? And I was really looking forward to booking Firebreaker Chip from WCW Special Forces all the way to worldwide wrestling legend.
jeff the god of biscuitsPosted on 01/20/09 at 02:05:12

I am wondering if its possible to indicate somehow that the wrestlers in the file are from 1992 ... sort of like "1992 Sting", etc ...

just its not confusing to those of us who are using their modern counterparts ...
TheImpalerTMXPosted on 01/20/09 at 06:22:38

You know, I was thinking... maybe it would be a good idea just to start pumping out what I would call "Generation Exports." So you know, instead of having to make a guy for every year he wrestled to accomodate such requests, just make a few exports that cover the "eras" of that wrestler. It would probably be a worthwhile project for anyone willing to undertake it. People will create edits like that in Fire Pro, so why not do it for TNM?

I'm in no means volunteering myself for this - just saying maybe its something some people would be interested in doing to create the most comprehensive database for TNM around.
King_Of_Old_SchoolPosted on 01/24/09 at 14:38:32

Check out the WCW page at TNM UK, where I have started uploading some of the WCW wrestlers from 1992. I'll release them all together in one pack when I've done them all.

Some great memories have come flooding back when watching old WCW tapes, including the best entrance music ever for perhaps my favourite wrestler of all time...

Can't find any footage of Page wrestling around this time, so don't think I'll be able to provide you with an accurate export.
Snabbit888Posted on 03/01/09 at 07:29:27

I don't think Page debuted as a wrestler until after 92.
UnrightPosted on 03/01/09 at 16:19:57

1991 was his transition from manager to wrestler. (He wrestled at Starrcade '91). He was wrestling in 1992, but was very much a green jobber.
King_Of_Old_SchoolPosted on 03/01/09 at 16:28:14

The whole pack is finally complete!! Download it now at TNM UK.

Didn't he actually form a brief team with Kevin Nash (as Vinnie Vegas) around this time?
LillaThrillaPosted on 03/08/09 at 17:12:21

Viva Wikipedia!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_Dallas_Page

With rumors that the WCW wanted to take the Diamond Studd away from Page, he decided to take the advice of Magnum T.A. and begin to wrestle himself. He headed to the WCW Power Plant where Buddy Lee Parker, The Assassin, and Dusty Rhodes trained the 35 year old rookie. He debuted as a wrestler in a tag team match later that year. With the Diamond Studd, he faced Kevin Sullivan and his partner. He was relegated to the "jobber" list. He made his wrestling pay-per-view debut at Starrcade in 1991, teaming with Mike Graham in a losing effort to Jushin Liger and Bill Kazmaier.

Page continued wrestling and brought other wrestlers into his stable, such as Scotty Flamingo and Vinnie Vegas. The relationships between DDP, Flamingo, and Vegas were used in many angles over the following months. Page went in the corner of Scotty Flamingo, at Clash of the Champions XXI on November 18, 1992, when Flamingo fought Johnny B. Badd in a worked boxing match. Flamingo won this bout with a little help from Page who filled Flamingo's glove with water. The following year, Page teamed with Vinnie Vegas as the Vegas Connection. The Vegas Connection never returned to WCW because Page was fired from WCW shortly after the team's debut due to his torn rotator cuff. The injury occurred in late 1992 in a tag match with Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce (later known as the The Godwinns).
I think back then he might've been using the Trip To The Diamond Mine facebuster/pancake rather than the Diamond Cutter.
King_Of_Old_SchoolPosted on 03/08/09 at 22:37:23

He wrestled mainly in tags and trios matches, but there's not enough footage out there to make an accurate export.
LillaThrillaPosted on 03/26/09 at 02:37:03

So did Psymin1 start that WCW 1992 circuit?
King_Of_Old_SchoolPosted on 03/26/09 at 10:16:04

He bloody better have!!
jeff the god of biscuitsPosted on 03/26/09 at 16:38:22

I started one :)
PlutarPosted on 03/26/09 at 17:19:11

Thanks for making these exports. These will become invaluable to me when my circuit gets to the early 90's. Right now I'm in Devember of 1986 and should hit 1992 in a couple weeks.
Snabbit888Posted on 03/26/09 at 20:24:05

Wow... last I heard you were in like 1968.  You're motoring!  I demand an update on the goings on of your circuit1
PlutarPosted on 03/27/09 at 00:23:48

(1) NWA World Championship: Mitsuharu Misawa
(2) NWA World Tag Team Championship: Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader
(3) NWA United States Championship: Mark Callous
(4) NWA Intercontinental Championship: Kengo Kimura
(5) NWA Television Championship: Steve Armstrong
(6) NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship: Frisbee
(7) NWA National Trios Championship: Great Muta, Masahiro Chono
and Shiro Koshinaka
(8) NWA Young Lions Cup: El Samurai

Misawa has been on an ubelievable streak. He's been world champ for almost 4 years. Misawa is my Hogan :)
I don't know a whole lot about Frisbee, other than his luchawiki page, but he's dominated my Junior Heavyweight division.
Psymin1Posted on 04/01/09 at 02:49:27

HAHA! You guys really are the greatest!

I have yet to start a 1992 Wrestling Universe, but now that I have this, I will try and get on it ASAP.  Thank you guys SO much, you are awesome!

Now...if I can just recall why exactly I wanted a 1992 universe of all years...

Between that and the WWF and ECW exports on the site. It might be possible to get a good New Japan and All Japan Export pack for 92 as well.
