no-time-limit matches going to a draw

LillaThrillaPosted on 09/04/06 at 06:59:06

I know this can happen if neither wrestler can execute a move on the other, or if the wrestler booked to win can't execute a move on the other.

But this happened in an UNBOOKED match where both wrestlers got numerous  "one, two, thr...kickout" near-falls on each other.  With their finishers!  Even with their Special Moves!  Did I mention it was unbooked?  It was part of a tournament however, though I don't know why that would matter...

Has anyone ever had this happen before and does anyone know why???

I've had this happen NUMEROUS times, especially if there's interference. Usually I just hit 'r' to rerun the match. Sometimes you'll get lucky, and it'll finish up... although this may come at the 5 or 8 hour mark. In that case, I just use Circuit Editor after the card to edit the times into something more reasonable.

R is good, except when you don't watch the match. :P

Isn't there a way to turn off outside interference?

Well, I think one of the issues is that if you have "Force Outside Interference" flagged, the match will not end until the interfering party does _something_ and this can take awhile, particularly in falls-count-anywhere matches. But, yeah, I think you can turn off random interference someplace, I just can't remember where.

And one-night tournaments seem to have a lot of interference, so that's probably part of it, too. Anyway, good luck!

To cut down on interference as much as possible WITHOUT just turning it off altogether, I just make sure I clear every wrestler's queue before my big shows.

Queues are a good idea in theory, but in practice, aren't so great.  If you run like 4 weeks of TV, then a PPV, you're probably having your main guy squash some lower carders on the way to the big match.  Having a guy your top wrestler squashed a month ago interfere in the main event of your PPV really sucks.

that's an interesting idea.  Is there a way to clear all queues or do you have to do each of them manually?

I personally like when random interference occurs. It leads to

A) an interesting stable pairing intent on bringin down the one star.

B) a new star on the rise that I other wise might not think to promote

or

C) a baffling hitman for hire type situation paid for by someone that I am bringing in to feud with the said star

I've got a half theory on this - the queue function has been around for ages, as long as I can remember, and back in those days, most circuits that lulled around (take note of Olivers circuit as a good example) were mostly just PPVs - lord knows my circuits back then were. So it sort of tied in that a guy someone faced on PPV would interfere at the next. These days most circuits are a little more sophisticated so suddenly you will get Hulk Hogan squashing Fidel Sierra the week before a PPV on the boards here when ten years ago, he was probably just facing guys like Sting and Vader on everybodies cards.

None of that needed to be said, but I'm not doing anything right now...
Rick GarrardPosted on 09/09/06 at 03:50:18

so what you are saying 91, is that the queue functions have ALWAYS been broken for guys like me that run weekly TV/house shows?  ;)

I can tell ya, the queue functions have been fun with the NWA-Squared Circle circuit, ya never know when a former opponent from a TV match is gonna show up and interfere during a house show during the week.

Not necessarily broken, if you're good at taking advantage of what TNM throws at you, then it doesn't matter who interferes against who regardless of how little sense it might make, it can still work just fine. It was probably just easier for those who do PPV only shows than for others trying to explain why T.L. Hopper did a run in on Ric Flair in a PPV main and going somewhere with it.

Go to "Clear Wrestler(s) Queue," tell it that you want to do it for more than one wrestler, then go to the top of the wrestler list and hit +.  That highlights all wrestlers.  Then hit ENTER and you're all set.
