Pro Wrestling Weekly hosted by Gene Okurlund
July 4th 1984 telecast

Gene Okurlund welcomed everyone to tonight's program. He talked about the action that took place last week in Roanoke and that the "tapes were rolling" and that we will get to all the action shortly. Okerlund talked about the US Heavyweight tournament that will take place here in St. Louis in a few months and the Television contender's battle royal that will take place in 3 weeks. We then went to our first match.

"Cowboy" Bob Orton pinned "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas with a Superplex. Tony Atlas actually attacked Orton before the bell rang but Orton survived the early onslaught by Atlas. The two out powered each other until Atlas missed a clothesline and was met with a big boot to the face. Orton set Atlas on the top rope and hit the Superplex and the win.   Time 0:10:28 Rating: *** 1/4

When we returned from commercial Okerlund talked more about the 10 man battle royal to see who will battle for the Television title. Okerlund talked about whoever wins the title will be a true fighting champion since they will have to defend it here live in studio each week. We then go to the next match already in progress.

Chavo Guerrero defeated "Gorgeous" Greg Valentine with the Moonsault. Chavo was greeted with a huge ovation that ticked off Valentine Chavo seemed in control of the match from the start and hit the moonsault for the win. Time 0:09:56 Rating: ** 1/2

When we returned Okerlund is joined at the table by Lord Alfred Hayes. The two talk about the exciting action coming to locations near you. After the rundown they go back to more wrestling action.

Johnny Rich made Mike Sharpe submit to the Sleeperhold. This match turned ugly from the bell. Mike Sharpe tossed Rich out of the ring a couple of times, ignoring the ref's instructions to keep it in the ring. The two brawled on the outside before action returned into the ring. Sharp tried to go for a powerslam but Rich counterd with a sunnyside flip for a near fall. Rich then locked on the sleeper getting Sharpe to tap. Time 0:10:44 Rating: ***

Back from break we go right into our next match.

Jacques Rougeau made David Von Erich submit to the Boston Crab. David Von Erich was clearly the fan favorite but that didn't seem to bother the Quebecer. Both men took the momentum but a late powerdriver took all the steam from Von Erich and to add insult to injury locked on the Boston Crab. Time 0:09:51 Rating: *** 1/2

Okerlund hypes on the next match talking about title ramifications.

The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) defeated The Graham Brothers (Eddie Graham and Dr. Jerry Graham) when Hawk pinned E. Graham after a flying shoulderblock. This match was intense as expected as the Warriors battled the Graham brothers almost to the time limit. Hawk picks up the big win. Time 0:17:56 Rating: ** 3/4

Okerulund tells the crowd that next week these two teams will meet again this time for the United States tag team titles. Just then "Oh what a Rush!" is heard and Sunny walks from the back followed by Hawk and Animal. The small studio crowd goes wild as Okerlund welcomes the men to the desk. Okerlund ask them about next week. Sunny said that Hawk and animal are the most dominating tag team in the history of wrestling and that next week they will walk out of Greensboro United states champions. Okerlund thanks them but says they are out of time and that the tapes will be rolling in Greensboro. See you next time!
