UWF - January 1988

Snabbit888Posted on 08/29/08 at 12:39:21

This is my side project I'm working on. It's an old school kind of circuit called the UWF (terribly original) that I'm going to update as I get months done. The writing style is a little different, as I'm doing it more recap style. Since I'm not 100% certain on how late 80's/early 90's booking worked, it's not going to be 100%. There will be enhancement matches, squashes, etc. But there were also be more name vs. name matches than I'm sure were around in 1988. So for you old school sticklers, I'm doing my best to keep it old school without boring myself stupid. :)

1/15/88: THE CROWNING - DAY ONE - NEW YORK, NY

1) The debut show kicked off in the world's most famous arena Madison Square Garden with President Harley Race welcoming everyone to the event. He said that this would be the start of something amazing and that UWF would pave the way in the world of professional wrestling. He announced that the point of this 3-day MSG tour was to crown the champions, saying that the World Tag Team Title and Intercontinental Title tournament would start tonight. He was interrupted by THE HORSEMEN - Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, & Tully Blanchard. Flair was out to save Race the trouble of having to crown a World champion saying that he should simply hand it over to the Nature Boy. Race said that wouldn't be happening as the World Title would be awarded to the winner of a 20-man Royal Rumble on January 17. The Horsemen didn't like this too much and threatened to rough the President up, but was saved by DUSTY RHODES, who will be wrestling Flair in our main event.

2) World Tag Team Title Tournament - The British Bulldogs defeated The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart) when Neidhart passed out in a Dynamite Kid sleeper in 14:48 in a first round match. The very first match in UWF history was in the tag team tournament, with two great teams duking it out. After a back and forth contest, "The Anvil" was caught in a sleeper by Dynamite Kid and passed out. ***

3) World Tag Team Title Tournament - Demolition (w/ Mr. Fuji) defeated Barry Horowitz & Brooklyn Brawler with the Demolition Decapitation in 9:50 in a first round match. And the Bulldogs will be facing Ax & Smash in the semi-finals. Mr. Fuji's brutal charges had an easy time, dispatching of Horowitz & the Brawler with little to no trouble. **

4) Intercontinental Title Tournament - Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Haku (w/ Bobby Heenan) with a Gorilla Press in 2:59 in a first round match. The IC Title tournament also kicked off here. Bobby Heenan has high hopes for the Heenan Family, having both Haku and Rick Rude in this tournament. It didn't start out the way he would have liked as Bam Bam Bigelow was highly motivated and tore through the Islander, earning a trip to the semis. ¾*

5) Intercontinental Title Tournament - Terry Funk made Greg Valentine (w/ Jimmy Hart) submit to the Spinning Toe Hold in 21:25 in a first round match. Two wrestling legends went at it in our next first round match. Terry Funk & Greg Valentine are both no nonsense competitors and beat the hell out of each other. Jimmy Hart tried to get involved on behalf of Valentine, but he missed with a megaphone shot and hit "The Hammer" instead. Funk followed with the Spinning Toe Hold and that was that. * ¾

6) Before our next match, Hawk & Animal, the Road Warriors, did an interview with Mean Gene Okerlund. Hawk & Animal said that they heard the Horsemen huffing and puffing, wanting Harley Race to hand the World Title over to Ric Flair. They said that in UWF, you will have to earn championships, and they intended on doing so, starting by beating Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard next.

7) World Tag Team Title Tournament - The Road Warriors defeated Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard of the Horsemen when Hawk pinned Anderson with a flying shoulderblock in 11:16 in a first round match. They talked about it, and Hawk & Animal backed up their words with a big victory over Horsemen Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard. Anderson & Blanchard are wrestling technicians, which greatly contrasted the smashmouth style of the Road Warriors. They also tried to bend the rules wherever they could, but it wasn't enough to counteract the brute strength of the Warriors. * 1/4

8) World Tag Team Title Tournament - The Midnight Express (w/ Jim Cornette) defeated The Young Stallions when Eaton pinned Roma with a flying cross bodypress in 6:35 in a first round match. Though they are cocky and brazen, the favorites to win this tourney might be "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton & "Sweet" Stan Lane, collectively the Midnight Express. Not only are they experts at tag team wrestling, but they have Jim Cornette who is always a factor. Though he didn't get physically involved, his presence is distracting enough which helped his boys get the win. They will meet The Road Warriors in the semi-finals tomorrow. *

9) Intercontinental Title Tournament - Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Koko B. Ware with the Rude Awakening in 12:34 in a first round match. Bobby Heenan is calling "Ravishing" Rick Rude the cornerstone of the Heenan Family, and if you based it solely on his performance tonight, he could be right. Koko B. Ware was pesky and wrestled a great match, but Rude is in another class and picked up the win in a fantastic match. **** 1/4

10) Before the final Intercontinental Title first round match, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and his servant Virgil offered an interview with Mean Gene Okerlund. Okerlund asked for DiBiase's thoughts about his opponent Brutus Beefcake. DiBiase said just like all the idiots in New York City, Beefcake had a price, and he would pay it very shortly.

11) Intercontinental Title Tournament - Ted DiBiase (w/ Virgil) defeated Brutus Beefcake with the Million Dollar Dream in 10:35 in a first round match. And our final man in the semi-finals is Ted DiBiase, who bested Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. Before the match, DiBiase offered Brutus $1,000 to walk out for a countout, but Beefcake responded by punching him in the jaw. In the end though, DiBiase got the Million Dollar Dream and caused Beefcake to pass out. 1/4*

12) Dusty Rhodes defeated Ric Flair with the Bionic Elbowdrop in 7:35. Our main event of the evening pitted long-time rivals Dusty Rhodes & Ric Flair against each other. The crowd was solidly behind "The American Dream" as Flair tried to cheat his way to a win. Flair took every shortcut he could, but Rhodes was on fire and caught him with the Bionic Elbowdrop out of nowhere to get the win. ARN ANDERSON & TULLY BLANCHARD ran in immediately and attacked Rhodes, but then RANDY SAVAGE & HULK HOGAN ran out to a thunderous ovation to even the odds, sending the Horsemen scurrying from the ring.

1/16/88: THE CROWNING - DAY TWO - NEW YORK, NY

1) The second night of the crowning tour started with Bobby Heenan coming out and introducing who he claimed would be the first World champion, Andre the Giant. Andre is the largest man in UWF and with the title being decided in a Royal Rumble tomorrow night, he has to be the odds on favorite.

2) Andre the Giant (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Brutus Beefcake with the Elbowdrop in 12:48. Andre the Giant's reputation precedes him for sure, and Brutus Beefcake had the daunting task of slowly him down. Beefcake fought valiantly, but it wasn't to be as Andre methodically beat him down before finishing him off. -****

3) The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated The Young Stallions with the Hart Attack on Powers in 12:02. Despite a disappointing showing in the tag title tournament, the Hart Foundation got back on track with a victory over the Young Stallions. Jimmy Hart was instrumental in his team's victory, yelling at Jim Powers & Paul Roma through his megaphone, distracting them. The Hart Foundation are looking to get into the tag title hunt, regardless of who wins the titles. ** ½

4) Intercontinental Title Tournament - Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Bam Bam Bigelow with an inside cradle in 1:38 in a semi-final match. It was a good night for the Heenan Family. Rick Rude became the first man to make it to the finals of the IC Title tournament by beating Bam Bam Bigelow. Rude did an excellent job of angering Bigelow early, taking the Beast From the East out of his game plan. Rude dodged an avalanche in the corner, caught Bigelow with an inside cradle, and with a pull of the tights, earned himself a chance to be a champion. **

5) World Tag Team Title Tournament - The Midnight Express (w/ Jim Cornette) defeated The Road Warriors when Eaton pinned Animal with a small package in 16:54 in a semi-final match. Hawk & Animal are livid with the result of this match, and rightfully so. The Road Warriors are perhaps the most dominant team in wrestling today, and Jim Cornette knew his Midnight Express couldn't match them physically. Technically Eaton & Lane were superior though, and they controlled much of this match with great tag team wrestling. Hawk & Animal rode that storm though and looked to be on the way to winning this match. Cornette saw this as well and while Animal was in the ring, Cornette nailed Hawk in the back with his tennis racket. This pissed Hawk off more than anything, who jumped to the floor and grabbed Cornette by the shirt before knocking him down with a hard right hand. The crowd loved that, but they didn't love Eaton catching Animal with a small package to get a flash pin and a trip to the finals. *** 3/4

6) Mean Gene Okerlund caught up with Hawk & Animal after the match. The two furious competitors said that they were cheated out of the win and that they would get their revenge on the Midnight Express "sooner rather than later."

7) Koko B. Ware defeated Greg Valentine (w/ Jimmy Hart) with the Ghostbuster in 8:58. Koko B. Ware was a hard luck loser yesterday in the first round of the IC Title tournament, but he took Rude to the limit. He got himself a victory tonight by winning another tough match against hard-hitting Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. *** 1/4

8) World Tag Team Title Tournament - The British Bulldogs defeated Demolition (w/ Mr. Fuji) by disqualification in 15:08 in a semi-final match. The Midnight Express had already cheated their way into the finals of the World Tag Team Title Tournament, and Demolition was looking to do the same. After a 14 minutes of action, Mr. Fuji was looking for Ax & Smash to put this away in a hurry and slid his cane in to Ax while Smash distracted the referee. Ax nailed Davey Boy Smith in the throat with it, but unfortunately he was not as secretive with it as he thought as the ref saw it and called for the DQ. Demolition was not happy and showed it by laying the British Bulldogs out. This doesn't bode well for the Englishmen going into the finals tomorrow night. ** 1/4

9) Intercontinental Title Tournament - Terry Funk defeated Ted DiBiase (w/ Virgil) with the Spinning Toe Hold in 21:58 in a semi-final match. Rick Rude was seen watching this match from the back as Terry Funk and Ted DiBiase went at it to determine who would be in the finals of the IC tournament. DiBiase has already shown he is willing to do anything to get what he wants. Tonight he tried to buy off the referee to help him in the match, but fortunately the referee has morals and dignity and refused. Even without the referee's assistance, The Million Dollar Man is more than capable and took Funk to the limit. But Terry funk is an old school fighter and he did just that, taking the win in a great match by locking DiBiase in the Spinning Toe Hold. The move did so much damage to his knee that he injured him, and DiBiase is supposed to be out of action for two months. *** ½

10) Before our main event, we heard from the Horsemen - Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, & Ric Flair. Mean Gene Okerlund asked them if they had any worries going up against competition as formidable as Dusty Rhodes, Randy Savage, & Hulk Hogan. Blanchard told Okerlund that he should be in the other locker room asking them how they are going to deal with the Horsemen. Anderson added that they are the most cohesive unit in wrestling and no none would get in their way as they climb to the top of the mountain. Flair concluded the interview discussing how they are all on the same page, and with the egos of Rhodes, Savage, & Hogan, there was no way they could work together long enough to defeat the Horsemen.

11) Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, & Dusty Rhodes defeated The Horsemen when Hogan pinned Flair with the Big Leg Drop in 29:53. The six man tag team main event was packed full of star power, and the crowd barely sat down for the match. Just as Ric Flair had predicted, there was some turmoil amongst the team of the American Dream, the Macho Man, and the Immortal One. All three men seemed to want to establish dominance going into tomorrow's Royal Rumble match to crown the first World champion, playing a little game of "top this." The Horsemen used this to their advantage and dominated a large portion of this match, singling out Randy Savage as he was the smallest man on his team. In the end though, Savage would fight back, get the tag to Hogan who would hit the Big Leg Drop on Flair to get the 3 count while Rhodes & Savage held Anderson & Blanchard at bay. Any of these men are on the shortlist to win the World Title tomorrow night.

1/17/88: THE CROWNING - DAY THREE - NEW YORK, NY

1) Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Terry Funk with the Rude Awakening in 19:04 to win the Intercontinental Title. All three champions would be crowned tonight, and it kicked off right away with Terry Funk taking on Bobby Heenan's prized prodigy, "Ravishing" Rick Rude. Rude prefers to wrestle more of a finesse style, but Funk wasn't going to let Rude get comfortable and made this one a brawl. Rude held his own as best he could but this was Funk's match. That is, until Bobby Heenan distracted the referee and Rude caught Funk with a low blow. The Rude Awakening followed and no one gets up from that. It might not have been clean, but Rick Rude is your first Intercontinental champion. *** 1/2

2) Due to the injury he suffered last night in his match with Terry Funk, Ted DiBiase has been declared ineligible for the Royal Rumble to crown the first World champion. However, that wouldn't stop him from wheeling and dealing as he went to President Harley Race and tried to buy the #20 entrant for his servant, Virgil, who is taking the Million Dollar Man's place. Race declined, and said that DiBiase would be punished for what he tried to pull off.

3) The British Bulldogs defeated The Midnight Express (w/ Jim Cornette) when Dynamite Kid pinned Lane with a flying headbutt in 22:26 to win the World Tag Team Titles. The Midnight Express may have cheated their way into the finals of the tournament, but that would all catch up with them with the World Tag Team Titles up for grabs in the finals of the tournament. The British Bulldogs were their opponents, and it was a fantastic match between two of the most finely tuned teams in the world today. The action was back and forth with Davey Boy Smith playing the face in peril for much of it, but late in the match he made a hot tag to Dynamite Kid. Dynamite came in a house of fire and was taking care of business, prompting Jim Cornette to interject, looking to hit him with the tennis racket. He would never get that chance as HAWK & ANIMAL ran out and chased Cornette to the back. This allowed the Bulldogs to hit Stan Lane with a running powerslam/flying headbutt combo to get the win and become the very first World Tag Team champions. ** 1/4

4) Ric Flair won a 20-man Royal Rumble in 57:05 to win the World Title, lastly eliminating Hulk Hogan. This Royal Rumble would be for all the marbles as the winner would walk away as the very first UWF World champion. The first two men would be Jim Neidhart and Animal, two tag wrestlers who would love to walk out World champion. Animal would dominate early, but the tide would swing Neidhart's way until DUSTY RHODES came in at #3 and had his way with Neidhart. It looked like Rhodes was going to eliminate Neidhart, but the #4 competitor, RIC FLAIR, came down early and distracted Rhodes from the floor, letting Neidhart dump him out of the ring. Rhodes had to be restrained from tearing the Nature Boy apart.

SMASH came in at #5, but he wouldn't last long before Animal tossed him to the floor. #6 was RANDY SAVAGE and he went right after Flair, almost dumping him out of the ring right away, but Flair hooked the bottom rope and rolled back in while Neidhart and Animal continued to battle. Ax was #7, and he came right in and tried to hit Animal, but he missed and nailed Neidhart instead, allowing Savage to dump the Anvil out of the ring. Animal then took down Ax, but left himself wide open to a running knee to the back from Flair that sent him out of the ring. Savage then made one fatal mistake by trying to throw Ax out, turning his back on Flair, who hit him with a low blow and sent him to the floor.

Tully Blanchard of the Horsemen came out as #8, giving he and Flair a distinct advantage. Ax was the only other man left, and the Horsemen agreed to work together with him. Until they double-crossed him and beat the tar out of him for the next two minutes. #9 was BAM BAM BIGELOW who formed a makeshift alliance with Ax to take on the Horsemen. That lasted only as long as it took for Ax to double-cross him. The odds would be greatly evened though when HULK HOGAN was out at #10, and the crowd exploded! Hogan was dominating the ring, taking everyone down before HAKU came in at #11 and nailed Hogan from behind. #12 was BRET HART, making things even worse for Hogan & Bigelow. But Hogan evened the odds a bit when one big punch sent Haku to the floor. The odds would go terribly against Hogan though as Flair low bridged Bigelow, eliminating him from the contest. And with #13 being VIRGIL, it went from bad to worse.

The entire complexion of the match changed though when #14 was announced and it was ANDRE THE GIANT. Bobby Heenan had a huge smile on his face as with Andre's size and this good draw, he had to be considered the odds on favorite. Heenan made sure Andre took his time getting to the ring. During this methodical entrance, Hogan had HULKED UP and went on an elimination spree, taking out both Tully Blanchard and then Ax. But then in the shocker of the night, just as Andre the Giant entered the ring, Hogan hit him with a clothesline that sent the Eighth Wonder of the World tumbling to the floor, eliminating the biggest man in the match! This would lead to Andre pulling Hogan out under the bottom rope and beating him down, culminating with a bodyslam on the concrete floor. Hogan was out and had to be helped to the back by officials. He wasn't thrown over the top, but there didn't seem to be any way he was going to recover.

With Hogan taken out of the picture, the ring continued to fill up as Koko B. Ware, Brutus Beefcake, Barry Horowitz, Greg Valentine, and Arn Anderson all joined the ring. However Horowitz's stay would be short as Beefcake sent him back to the locker room. After that, Hawk had the dream draw and came in at #20 and had a great shot to win the championship. The first man to go next was Koko B. Ware at the hands of The Hammer, leaving us with 6 left in the ring. Hawk had the freshest legs and he used that to take out Bret Hart, who had been in the ring for over 20 minutes before being sent to the locker room. Valentine would next get his second elimination as he threw out Beefcake.

We were down to Valentine, Hawk, Anderson, and Flair, who had come in at #4 and was still in the match. Hawk quickly realized what was going on as the Horsemen and The Hammer backed him into a corner. Hawk attacked first by nailing Valentine with a hard shot, but the numbers got to him quickly and the 3-on-1 attack. Hawk kept fighting though and got a measure of help when HULK HOGAN returned to the ring! He was obviously limping, but his desire to win the World Title brought him back. Hogan came in and clotheslined Valentine and Flair down, letting Hawk toss Anderson from the match! The crowd was firmly behind Hogan, and not even Hawk being eliminated by the Nature Boy could slow his momentum as he would follow by eliminating Valentine, leaving us with just Hogan and Flair!

When Flair realized who it was down to, he looked like he saw a ghost as he begged off, but Hogan would have none of it as he went to work on Flair, bouncing him around the ring. Hogan would almost eliminate Flair on multiple occasions, but to the Nature Boy's credit he stayed in the ring, despite having been in the match for 50 minutes. Flair called for backup in the form of the HORSEMEN, and Anderson & Blanchard began the beatdown on Hogan. Hogan fought them off though, but in the process didn't see ANDRE THE GIANT coming back down to the ring. He got in the ring and clocked Hogan from behind, before hitting him with a bodyslam and a huge Elbowdrop. Hogan was all but out of it, and with the help of his Horsemen running buddies, tossed Hogan out of the ring. The winner and our first World champion... RIC FLAIR. **** 1/4

1/20/88: HIGH VOLTAGE - CHICAGO, IL

1) Our weekly TV show, High Voltage, began with an interview by the Horsemen - Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and the brand new World Heavyweight champion "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. It was a pretty standard interview with the Horsemen saying that with control of the World Title, they control UWF. Flair hammered home the point that he "singlehandedly" won the Royal Rumble and that he is going to hold the top prize in the game for awhile.

2) Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Brooklyn Brawler with the Flying Headbutt in 3:23. Bigelow gets on the winning track with an easy victory over the surly Brawler. ** 3/4

3) Demolition (w/ Mr. Fuji) defeated The Conquistadors when Ax pinned Conquistador #2 with a swinging neckbreaker in 53 seconds. To say this was a mugging would be a vast understatement. Ax & Smash mauled the poor Conquistadors, winning the match in less than a minute. This was obviously a statement from Mr. Fuji and his boys that they are looking to get a run at The British Bulldogs and their World Tag Team Titles. DUD

4) Greg Valentine (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated Pez Whatley by pinfall in the Figure-Four Leglock in 4:59. Pez Whatley was game in his UWF debut, but it wasn't enough to slow down Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, who took the win by pinfall after locking Whatley in the Figure-Four Leglock. ** 3/4

5) Next we had an interview with "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Savage said he was certain he was going to win the Royal Rumble, but he turned his back for one second and Ric Flair dumped him over the top after a low blow. Savage said he wasn't going to let happen again as he got someone to watch his back, introducing the lovely ELIZABETH. Elizabeth is extremely beautiful and Macho Man said with her by his side, he would become the World champion.

6) Virgil (w/ Ted DiBiase) defeated Terry Funk by countout when DiBiase interfered in 5:29. Rumor going around the locker room is that "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase is blaming Terry Funk not only for costing him his shot at the Intercontinental Title, but injuring his knee on purpose, putting DiBiase on the shelf for at least 2 months while he recovers. DiBiase sent his servant Virgil to take care of Funk tonight, but the plan wasn't going too well. Funk was beating Virgil to a pulp, sending him out to the floor. After abusing Virgil on the floor, Funk tossed him back in the ring. Before Funk could get back in though, DiBiase shoved Funk head first into the ringpost, knocking him out and leading to the countout. DiBiase may have won this battle, but the war is far from over. ½*

7) The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated The Young Stallions with the Hart Attack on Paul Roma in 8:09. These two teams met back on January 16, with the Hart Foundation coming out on top. The Young Stallions would be game once again, but the result was the same as before with the Bret Hart pinning Paul Roma after the Hart Attack. Much like Demolition, the Hitman & the Anvil are looking to be the first challengers for the World Tag Team Titles of the British Bulldogs. ** 1/4

8) Hulk Hogan came out to a thunderous ovation for an interview before our main event. Hogan got his Hulkamaniacs all riled up and then talked about how he should be the World champion and not Ric Flair. He said if it wasn't for Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard getting involved, he'd be champ. But he specifically called out ANDRE THE GIANT, saying it was his attack that directly led to him losing the Royal Rumble, and that if he had to chop down the giant redwood to get to Flair, he would.

9) Dusty Rhodes defeated Haku (w/ Bobby Heenan) with the Bionic Elbowdrop in 8:12. Our main event featured "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes defeating Haku of the Heenan Family. It was a hard fought match with Haku getting a lot of offense in, but Rhodes fought through and hit the Bionic Elbow to get the win. We hear rumblings that Rhodes is looking to get himself into a title shot, and we may hear more on that soon. ** 1/4

1/27/88: HIGH VOLTAGE - INDIANAPOLIS, IN

1) The show kicked off with one of our cameraman doing some recon work. We saw World champion Ric Flair talking with BOBBY "THE BRAIN" HEENAN. We couldn't hear what they were talking about, but when you get two guys like that together, you know it can't be good.

2) Intercontinental champion Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Pez Whatley with the Rude Awakening in 2:21 in a non-title match. Rick Rude made it through the Intercontinental Title tournament and walked out the champion, and the first time we saw him on High Voltage was in action against Pez Whatley. The Ravishing One is cocky, arrogant, and unbearable to be around, but what makes it worse is that he is talented enough to back in up. Rude picks up an easy win with the Rude Awakening. One has to wonder who will be the first man to step up to challenge Rude for his IC Title. *** 1/4

3) Koko B. Ware defeated Barry Horowitz with a gutwrench suplex in 3:27. Speaking of, Koko B. Ware gave Rude a great match in the first round of the tournament, but came up just short. He wouldn't have that problem tonight as a gutwrench suplex put Barry Horowitz away. ** ¾

4) We heard from Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid - collectively known as the British Bulldogs and your World Tag Team champions. The Bulldogs thanked the fans for their support and said that they hoped to hold the titles for a very long time. This brought out JIM CORNETTE, who said that time would be very short. He wanted the Bulldogs to do the right thing and grant The Midnight Express a rematch and give Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton a shot at the World Tag Team Titles. The Bulldogs are always up for a challenge and accepted for next week. The Midnight Express then tried to sneak through the crowd to get the jump on Smith & Dynamite, but they saw them coming and dispatched them from the ring.

5) Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard defeated The Young Stallions when Anderson pinned Roma after a flying clothesline in 6:36. The Horsemen team of Anderson & Blanchard, collectively known as the Brainbusters, continued their winning ways while the Young Stallions continued in the opposite direction with another loss. You might not like the way the Horsemen conduct their business with their almost gang-like approach, but they get results, such as this win here. The Horsemen remain strong. * ¾

6) Randy Savage (w/ Elizabeth) defeated The Italian Stallion with the Flying Elbowdrop in 2:46. The Macho Man introduced us to his manager, Elizabeth, a week ago, and she already has him off to a great start. Savage had little trouble in finishing off The Italian Stallion with his patented Flying Elbowdrop. ** ¾

7) Bam Bam Bigelow found Hulk Hogan backstage and told him about Ric Flair's meeting with Bobby Heenan. Hogan said he wasn't surprised. Bigelow told Hogan that if he needed any help against the Horsemen or the Heenan Family, he would have his back. Hogan thanked him and they shook hands.

8) The Road Warriors defeated The Conquistadors when Animal pinned #2 with the Powerslam in 4:05. Well this was a massacre. Hawk & Animal are still fuming over the Midnight Express eliminating them from the World Tag Team Title tournament by less-than-legal means. They took out some of their aggressions on the poor Conquistadors, plowing through them for an easy win. After the match, Hawk grabbed the mic and said that they hadn't forgotten what the Midnight Express did in the tournament and that Jim Cornette and his charges have not heard the last from the Road Warriors. * ¾

9) Terry Funk defeated Virgil (w/ Ted DiBiase) with the Spinning Toe Hold in 12:37. Virgil defeated Terry Funk a week ago thanks to interference from the injured Ted DiBiase. Harley Race ordered a rematch for this week stating that if DiBiase got involved he would be heavily fined. DiBiase laughed that off seeing how he has tons of money, but he gave Race his word. DiBiase remained in Virgil's corner giving him moral support and instruction, but it wouldn't matter. Virgil wrestled well but couldn't get past the Funker, who locked on the Spinning Toe Hold to get the submission victory. DiBiase didn't interfere with the match, but he sure got involved after, nailing Funk in the back of the head with his crutch! DiBiase got several more shots in before officials came in and pulled DiBiase away. We hope to have a report on Terry Funk's condition next week as he was stretchered out. *** 1/2

This is a really cool fed. No Sting, Luger, or Windham? Maybe later. But yeah keep up the good work.

I'm trying to stick with what TNM lets me do.  I tried to hire all 3 and they said nay.  Bastards.

I love old school promotions on here. And I enjoyed the different writing style too. I also liked your way of crowning champions with that three day tour.

Ryan, I know you are not the biggest rule set fan but I could see some rules being generated from this circuit.

(Yes, I'm browsing some old cards for fun).
