PROVING GROUND
July 12, 2009

The show opens with a man standing in the center of the ring, dressed in a nice suit. He is holding a microphone to address the crowd, with a familair voice
Man: Good evening ladies and gentlemen & welcome to the first ever show of Revolution Pro Wrestling! My name is Joey Styles (the crowd cheers) here at ringside here at the new RPW Arena in downtown Baltimore (the local crowd cheers louder). Let's start things off with a word from the man that has made this night possible, the owner of RPW: Justin Morgan! (Morgan comes down to the ring to a loud chant of "Thank you" from the fans.) Now, Mr. Morgan, the floor is yours.
JM: Well, I just want to welcome everyone here tonight to the first of many great wrestling shows that RPW will be presenting to you. I'm gonna keep this short, sweet, & simple. Baltimore has been over the years, one of the hottest wrestling cities in the U.S. & here in RPW, we have amassed some of the greatest talent the businiess has ever seen, some of them local, some of them internationally known. Now while I may own this company, I have decided to let someone more qualified than myself run the in-ring product. That means booking the matches & making all the hard decisions in reguards to the talent. I'm not going to be one of those owners that needs to be constantly seen in the ring or involved in any storylines. I am turning complete control over to just one man...
Just then the opening guitar notes of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird" plays as founding member of the Fabulous Freebirds Michael "P.S." Hayes steps from the back. Hayes is greeted by a roar of cheers. He steps into the ring & shakes the hand of the owner before taking the microphone from his hand.
MH: I want to first off thank Justin Morgan for giving not only me, but, all you fans a chance to witness first hand the start of what will be a major force in the business of professional wrestling. And secondly, I want to thank him for giving me the opportunity to run this company's in-ring business so that we can put on the best possible shows for all the fans. Like he said, tonight you will see talent from all over the world showcased right here in this very ring.
Hayes is interupted by Saliva's "Superstar 2" as 2 young men step from the back looking ready to compete. They enter the ring, one has a microphone of his own.
Man #1: Well, well, well, what corner of what dive bar did they have to drag you out of to get you here? Since you are the man in charge, allow me to introduce ourselves. My name is Tyler Hilton and he is Zachary Shane, together we are the best tag team that this company has. You should get to know us real well, Michael, because we are going to rule this ring like no others, including your infamous Freebirds.
ZS: You may as well hand over any championships to us right now. If you don't, you're just delaying the inevidible.
MH: What is it with you kids today? I swear to God I just don't get it. You come out here runnin' your mouth. You don't care about anybody. You don't care anout anything. And you show no respect for the business that people like me, The Road Warriors, & The Von Erichs built so you can even have what you got right now. You guys get rent-a-cars waiting for you where ever you go. You get guarenteed contracts. And you don't have to pay any dues & you never learned about respect.
TH: You might want to watch your tone, Hayes. You see, there's 2 of us & 1 of you. You don't have your Freebirds to back you up anymore. There's no Buddy Roberts & there sure as hell isn't a Terry Gordy anymore.
Hayes turns red with anger and just before he can take a swing at Hilton, Shane blindsides him, knocking him to the canvas. The 2 men stomp on Hayes, until JTG & Shad Gaspard of Cryme Tyme rush out from the back for the save. As Hayes collects himself on the outside, the 2 teams brawl in the ring. Hayes calls for a referee to make this an official, yet impromtu, match.

Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard and JTG) defeated Priviliged (Tyler Hilton and Zachary Shane) when Shad pinned Tyler with the Mug Shot in 0:13:07.
Rating: ** 1/4

"The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero come to the ring and takes the ring announcer's microphone.
DD: Tonight, I am going to skip the introductions & get straight to the point. I am here because RPW needs The Pope's blessing. RPW, even though still in it's infancy, needs a savour. And I am that savour. So, anyone that feels he needs their faith renewed, someone that "The Pope" can convert and make a believer come on out to the ring and become Pope's ultimate sacrifice.
"Shipping Up To Boston" by The Dropkick Murpheys plays as Baltimore's own "Hot Shot" Ryan McBride comes to the ring.

D'Angelo Dinero pinned Ryan McBride with the DDE in 0:12:05.

Joey Styles gets back in the ring to introduce his guest for a special interview.
JS: Ladies & gentlemen. my guest at this time is the former Ring Of Honor World Champion: Nigel McGuiness.
McGuiness gets a mixed reaction from the live crowd.
NM: For the past few years, I have made alot of sacrifices in this ring to be a champion. I have wrestled with torn muscles, concussions, I have bled buckets of blood to entertain fans around the world. I have done whatever it takes to be on top, only to have the fans turn on me & tell me that I don't deserve anything that I worked so hard for. So now, I'm here in RPW to prove myself all over again. Prove to you fans that I am the brightest star that shines in this ring. And before any of you know it, I'll be the one true champion here.
Suddenly, familiar music plays & the crowd erupts as "Captain Charisma" Christian steps out from the back with a big smile & a mic of his own. Christian joins McGuiness in the ring, still smiling.
C: Did I hear you correctly? Did you just say that you are the brightest star in this ring? First of all, outside of some geeks on the internet, no one even knows who you are. But, all my peeps know exactly who I am (the crowd breaks into a "Christian" chant). Now seeing as how neither of us has our gear on, why don't we go in the back, get changed, and later on tonight see just who really steals the show.
Pantera's "Walk" plays in the arena & just as Christian interupted McGuiness, he finds himself being interupted by none other than ROB VAN DAM.
RVD: Hang on a second Christian. Did I just hear you say that you wanted to see who could steal the show? Did you forget that I was here? How can you expect to steal the show, when RVD is the "Whole Damn Show"? Now if you 2 want to have a match later to see who's star is on the rise, that's fine by me. Just remember, nobody is higher than (points to himself) R-V-D.
C: So I guess what you're saying Rob is that our little 1 on 1 match just became a triple threat.
NM: That's fine by me! You 2 wankers have no idea what's in store for you. Make no mistake, my name is Nigel McGuiness, and I am in it to win it!

Monty Brown pinned Chris Harris with the Pounce in 0:16:56.

The familiar sound of a high pitched guitar plays as The Hart Dynasty come to the ring as the crowd boos. They step between the ropes & Natalya grabs the microphone for her team. She hands it to David Hart Smith so he can address the crowd.
DHS: Now, everyone knows how great of a wrestler my father was. But, as great as he was, I'm that much better. And I stand here next to not only my best friend, but, the very last protege of Bret "The Hitman" Hart. My uncle Bret used to refer to himself as "the best there is" and "the best there was", and he was right up to that part. Because right here in this ring as a team, we are "the best there ever will be".
Fort Minor's "Remember The Name" plays as their opponents: Team Macktion come to the ring. The 2 teams get ready to square off, until, the ring announcer informs them that there has been a special referee assigned to the match. Just then, Kenny Dykstra steps out from the back wearing a striped shirt. He walks slowly down the aisle to the ring to a mixed response & joins the 4 in the ring.

WHO BETTA THAN KANYON Hayes is stunned as Chris Kanyon steps out from the back & makes his way into the ring.
CK: Thanks Michael, I know that its an honor for you to have me here. And yes, I did want to face the best this company has to offer, but, seeing as how it looks like all your guys are too tired after their matches...
MH: Whoa, hang on Chris. I knew you were in the back, I knew you wanted a match, but, I wasn't talking about you. Now, if you're serious about competing tonight, the man I was talking about would love to get in the ring with you.
CK: That's fine. i don't care. I can take on anybody. Like I always say "Who betta than Kanyon?"
Yo! It's me, it's me, it's D-D-P! Kanyon's eyes go wide with surprise & just a little bit of fear as his former tag team championship partner steps out from the back. A MATTER OF RESPECT
August 16, 2009

The show kicks off with Joey Styles welcoming everyone to the arena, but, he is soon interupted by Christian's music. Christian takes the mic from Styles and tells him to get out of the ring.
C: Last month, it took both Nigel McGuiness & Rob Van Dam to beat me in this very ring. They double teamed me, they took turns beating on me, and I did everything I could to try & fend them off, but, 2 on 1 was just to much for me to handle. So what I propose, is that tonight, to make it up to all my peeps, NIgel McGuiness & Rob Van Dam face me individually & we see just who is the best.
Rob Van Dam's music plays as he walks to the ring.
RVD: Christian, you & I have known eachother for a long time. Now, you & I both know that last month, it was every man for himself. We all wanted to win that match, and we all did what we had to so that we could come out on top. But, if you want to face me 1 on 1 tonight, I got no problem with that.
Nigel McGuiness' music plays as the winner of last month's main event steps down the aisle, stopping midway to address the 2 men in the ring.
NM: If you 2 are done playing kiss & make up, I believe that there was a 2nd part of Christian's challenge that has yet to be answered. I pinned you 1, 2, 3 in the middle of that ring last month. Now, you want to come out & whine & cry about it being unfair. And Rob, you & I obviously have some unfinished business, but, you rushed out here to accept his offer, forgetting about me as well. That is a show of utter disrespect to the man that got his hand raised in a match against both of you.
C: Just a second mate, I know exactly what I said. I did challenge both of you to a couple of single matches and from the looks of it, you're both accepting. But since you 2 have unfinished business, why don't we do this: let's have ourselves alittle "Round Robin" action to find out just who the best really is once & for all. That means, me against you, Rob. Me against you, Nigel. And the 2 of you against eachother.
RVD agrees & so does McGuiness. McGuiness says he wants the first match, so Van Dam gets out of the ring so Christian & McGuiness can get things started.

Round Robin Match:
Nigel McGuinness pinned Christian with the Jawbreaker Lariat in 0:10:51.

RPW Commissioner: Michael Hayes comes to the ring to ake an announcement about the next match. He tells the crowd that even just after 1 show, his phone has been ringing off the hook with requests from wrestlers to come & join the RPW roster. So tonight, he has offered 2 tag teams a chance to face off, with the winners getting a spot on the roster. He hands the ring announcer a card with the names of the first team on it & as their music plays, "The Anarchist" Arik Cannon & RoH mainstay Claudio Castagnoli come to the ring to a mixed reaction. Before their opponents can be introduced, a familiar sound is heard throughout the arena. "OH YOU DIDN'T KNOW? YOUR ASS BETTER CALL SOMEBODY!" The corwd goes wild as former multi-time tag team champions B.G. & Kip James come to the ring. Cannon & Castagnoli looks upset over their surprise opponents. B.G. & Kip get into the ring & B.G. takes the mic & goes into his own intro for his team. |
BJ: Ladies & gentlemen, boys & girls, children of all ages, Revolution Pro Wrestling is proud to present arguably the greatest TAG TEAM IN THE WOOOOORRRRLLLLLD: "The Road Dogg" B.G. James & my brother from another mother: the K to the I to the P, we're riding high one more time, THE JAMES GANG!

The crowd shouts in unison: SUCK IT!

So why don't you come on out & take the beating that we have for you.

RPW Commissioner: Michael Hayes comes out to start off the show. Hayes thanks the crowd for making the last 2 shows such a success & informs them that next month will start off a tournament to determine the first RPW Heavyweight Champion. He tells the crowd that it will be a 16 man tournament with participants from all over the world. The crowd cheers for the announcemen, but, that doesn't last long as Hayes is once again interupted by Tyler Hilton & Zachary Shane, aslo known as Priviliged. Hilton runs down Hayes' announcement by asking him why he is ignoring the tag team division. Hilton explains that this is what always happens in wrestling companies, the tag teams are looked at as nothing more than filler. Hilton goes on to say that Hayes should know better than anyone how difficut it can be for a team to make it in this business. Hayes cuts him off & tells Hilton that he is right. Joey Styles is in the ring as "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero comes to the ring for his 2nd round match. Styles starts to question Dinero, but, gets stopped the self proclaimed "Pope".
DD: First of all Joey, when you talk, don't speak directly at me. You know that "The Pope" don't breathe the same air as you. Because you as well as the rest of these infidels aren't worthy to breathe the same air as "The Pope". Now, "Pope" has gotten through the first round & in mere moments, he will defeat RVD and go on to next month's final to become the RPW Champion. But, just when "pope" should have been celebrating that no good Drake Younger had to come in & try to ruin it all. I beat him down last month & just like a zombie risin' from the grave, he came back for more. Make no mistake, "Pope" will not forget this injustice. The congregation will ensure that he gets his punishment. And "Pope" is gonna win that title next month & show his congregation, whether they believe or not, that "pope" is the true saviour they have been waiting for.

C: With all that's going on tonight, it seems like I might be the only one with my eye on the prize. But the last time I checked, this wasn't an episode of "The HIlls". This is professional wrestling, and I am a wrestler, that's what I do, it's what I am. I have sacrificed everything for this business. But all the good things in my life are also from wrestling. I grew up dreaming of becoming a wrestler. I proved all the people that laughed at that dream wrong. Then they said "you might be a wrestler, but, you'll never be a champion." And I proved them wrong again by becoming the NWA World Champion. And tonight I will make those dreams come true... again. Rob Van Dam, Chris Harris, Monty Brown, I won't quit.
