Match Recap:

Joe Louis Arena was the site for the inaugural edition of Friday Night Main Event. Tonight the entire UWWA roster was divided into 4 groups and the winner of each group will meet in the main event in a 4 man elimination match.

DJ Gabriel won Group A by eliminating Mr. Kennedy with help from Alicia Fox. Shark Boys no show allowed Mr. Kennedy a 2nd shot at making the main event but he was eliminated 9 seconds in by the legend Rick Steamboat. Scott Steiner dominated group B with eliminations of Robert Roode and Kurt Angle.

Samoa Joe had no problem in Group C by eliminating Shawn Michaels, Abyss and Zach Rider. Group D was seem to be up in the air but James Storm took the group with eliminations of Triple H and Curt Hawkins.

The main event came down to Samoa Joe and Scott Steiner. Steiner earlier in the match knocked out the referee but the the match continued. Steiner had Samoa Joe locked in the Steiner Recliner and looked like he was on his way to winning the belt. The referee called for the bell but instead of announcing Steiner the winner they referee awarded the win and the UWWA World Heavyweight title to Samoa Joe. Samoa Joe walks away UWWA World Heavyweight Champion but not without controversy.

Next week UWWA will be in Chicago on the campus of the University of Illinois. A 4 team tournament will take place to crown the UWWA World tag team champions.
