"Quest for the Gold" Round 1
April 25, 2009
Long Beach Arena - Long Beach, Calif.

(#16) Chris Hero vs. (#1) Scott Lost
Chris Hero had said over the last month that the biggest disappointment in his career was being given the #16 ranking in this Quest For Gold tournament. He had repeatedly said that he had more upside then any one else on the roster, and that his ranking in the tournament did him no justice. He had told anyone that would listen that he would stop at nothing to walk out as the CCW Heavyweight Champion. Tonight, he a huge first step towards making that promise come true. Scott Lost, the man who outlasted 19 others last month to win the Battle Royal and earn the #1 ranking gave Hero everything he possibly good - even hitting the Vertbreaker three times! However, he couldn't put Hero away. The closest he came to ridding Chris Hero from the tournament was when both men were one second away from a double countout - which would have taken Lost out as well. Yet, in the end, nothing Lost could throw at his opponent was enough to advance in the tournament. Chris Hero connected with the Hero's Welcome for the upset victory, and a spot in the second round.

Chris Hero pinned Scott Lost with the Hero's Welcome in 26:03.

(#7) Wolfgang vs. (#10) Al Snow

Al Snow came into this match with a heavily bandaged injury to his forehead, suffered in last month's Battle Royal. And, it didn't take long for Wolfgang to take advantage of that injury; busting Snow open withint the first five minutes! From then on, Snow found himself wrestling this match looking for a way to turn the tide. He was able to get two of those chances, when he and Wolfgang took the match to the outside of the ring. However, due to an increasing loss of blood during the match, Snow was unable to come up with the offense needed to pick up a victory. Wolfgang hit the Swanton Bomb for the victory to advance to the second round.

Wolfgang pinned Al Snow with the Swanton Bomb in 14:53.
Rating: ** 3/4

(#15) Aaron Draven vs. (#2) Rex Butler (w/Alisha Hicks)

Rex Butler had said previously that he was surprised by his #2 ranking in this tournament, and that being so close toe getting the top spot was all he needed to get end up with the CCW Heavyweight Title at the end of the tournament. However, tonight, Aaron Draven stood in his way, hoping to do the unthinkable. Draven took the fight to Butler throughout the entire match - at one point, even causing Butler to bleed(!) - only to find himself struggling to defeat the big man. Yet, tonight, Aaron Draven has someone to thank as Alisha Hicks - Rex Butler's manager - was caught tripping Draven! Referee Mike Sparks quickly called for the disqualification that sent Draven on to the second round!

Aaron Draven defeated Rex Butler by disqualification in 8:14.

(#12) Martin Stone (w/Dean Ayass) vs. (#5) Stixx

The members of the team "Stixx and Stone" found themselves battling each other for the chance to move forward in the Quest for Gold Tournament. In yet another match that went by very quickly, Stixx rolled into the ring after a failed plancha to the outside of the ring by Martin Stone, and watched as refere Danny Davis counted out his partner for the victory.

Stixx defeated Martin Stone by countout in 2:05.
Rating: * 1/2

(#13) Joey Ryan vs. (#4) Sonny Siaki

The final match of the first round was incredibly hard fought and gave the small crowd something to remember. Ryan picked up the fourth upset of the eight matches thanks to some good timing. At the end of the match, Ryan was able to block a backspin DDT that caused Sonny Siaki to land hard on the outside of the ring, knocking the wind out ouf his lungs. Referee Earl Hebner gave the 10-count as Ryan advanced to the second round.

Joey Ryan defeated Sonny Siaki by countout in 16:59.

Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match:
Chrisjen Hayme vs. CJ Otis vs. Danny Havoc vs. Human Tornado

The four men who were eliminated first in the Battle Royal came out to end the night, trying to prove that they deserved not to be over looked for their poor performance last month. Human Tornado appeared to have the most to prove as he showed his tenacity to overcome the odds, by out lasting the other three participants to eliminate Chrisjen Hayme and Danny Havoc to win the match.

Human Tornado defeated Chrisjen Hayme, CJ Otis and Danny Havoc:
X D. Havoc beat Otis via a headbutt in 23:14.

"Quest For The Gold" Tournament - Round Two:
(15) "Omega" Aaron Draven vs. (7) Wolfgang

After pulling a big upset over #2-ranked Rex Butler last month in the first round of the tournament, Aaron Draven came in looking to repeat his success against Wolfgang. However, as has been seen in the first round of the tournament... anything can happen. Very early into the match, Draven attempted a con hilo to the outside of the ring, which Wolfgang smartly moved away from, allowing Draven to crash to the concrete below. With the wind knocked out of him, Draven was counted out and sent home with an early defeat.

Wolfgang defeated Aaron Draven by countout in 2:54.

"The Human Breeze Block" Martin Stone (w/Dean Ayass) vs. Al Snow

Stone and Snow, both victims from the first round of the Quest For The Gold tournament, came into this match wanting to turn their fortunes around. Stone had some help from the outside as Dean Ayass made his presence known early and often - getting into the face of Snow as the two men battled outside the ring. It also appeared that Stone had a little help inside the ring as well. On more then one occasion, Snow complained about slow counts from referee Danny Davis before finally putting Stone away with the Snow Plow. Snow stared at Davis as he counted the three, giving Snow the victory.

AL Snow pinned Martin Stone with the Snow Plow in 9:37.

"Quest For The Gold" Tournament - Round Two:
(13) Joey "Magnum" Ryan vs. (5) Stixx (w/Dean Ayass)

Dean Ayass found himself at ringside once again tonight as he brought Martin Stone's partner - Stixx - to the ring to face Joey Ryan in this second round match. This time, however, Ayass was not as much of a disturbance. Still, Joey Ryan found himself fighting and brawling his way through a very tough and physical match. He fought back - to the point that both men could barely stand on their own feet - before connecting with a T-Bone Suplex for the victory.

Joey Ryan pinned Stixx after a T-Bone Suplex in 15:59.

Interview:
Joey Ryan comes out and says that he heard all the talk last month that he couldn't beat Scott Lost in the first round of the tournament. Ryan tells his critics to shove their words down their throats... just like he's going to do with his boot down Eric Perez's throat later tonight! However, Perez had other intentions as he ran down to the ring and blindsided Ryan with a vicious chair shot!  Perez leaves the ring and exits through the crowd before officials get to the ring.

"Quest for the Gold" Tournament - Round Two:
(11) Chris Stone vs. (3) "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters

"The Masterpiece" used his excessive strength to pretty much toy with Chris Stone in this match. Masters also pushed the referee's limits as he repeatedly held a blatant chokehold to the four-second mark before letting go. Stone gave it all he had, but ultimately succumbed to the Masterlock, giving Chris Masters a ticker to the semi-finals.

Chris Masters defeated Chris Stone when Chris Stone passed out in the Masterlock in 13:18.

Superstar Steve vs. Rex Butler (w/Alisha Hicks)

Rex Butler was lucky this month as his manager, Alisha Hicks, decided to stay outside the ring and not interfere. However, it's about four weeks too late as Butler is already out of the Heavyweight Title tournament. At least one person knows how angry Butler is as Superstar Steve showed no chance in this match. Butler hit the Wicked Sensation for the lopsided victory.

Rex Butler pinned Superstar Steve with the Wicked Sensation in 8:24.

"Quest for the Gold" Tournament - Second Round:
(16) Chris Hero vs. (8) "The Puerto Rican Nightmare" Eric Perez

In what could've been the best match of the night, Hero and Perez put on quite a show! Hero got away with attack referee Nick Patrick due to what he thought was a slow count but, after regaining consciousness, Patrick couldn't recall which of the two had attacked him. The match continued and Hero overcame the attack by Perez earlier in the evening to hit the Hero's Welcome for the 1-2-3. Backstage, after the match, Perez vowed to get revenge on Chris Hero for being cheated out of a victory.

Chris Hero pinned Eric Perez with the Hero's Welcome in 14:51.

The first tag team match to take place in the CCW pitted four men who all found themselves victims of the Quest for the Gold tournament. This match would place either one of these teams as the "team to beat" in the tag team division, however, a definite winner was not announced as Dean Ayass once again interfered on behalf of his team, tripping Sonny Siaki. After the match, as the four men were brawling in the ring, CHRIS HERO ran down and connected with a chair shot to Eric Perez's skull! A bloody Siaki tried to intervene, but Hero ran through the crowd - escaping harm.

(#10) Wolfgang vs. (#3) "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters

Wolfgang found himself in a load of trouble this month as he had to go through "The Masterpiece" to advance to the Finals. However, fate was not on his side as Chris Masters was relentless during the match. Masters also had some help from the outside as AARON DRAVEN - still upset over the loss to Wolfgang last month - tossed Masters a baseball bat that gave him a near fall. However, frustrated by referee Earl Hebner's failure to disqualify Master, Wolfgang pushed him into the ring post, earning himself a DQ loss. After the match, Wolfgang told Draven to find a partner to face him and Darkside next month!

"Quest for the Gold" Tournament - Semi Final:
(#16) Chris Hero vs. (#13) Joey "Magnum" Ryan

Chris Hero earned himself the final spot in the CCW Heavyweight Title match with what would be called another upset victory in this tournament. Hero has proven, however, that the #16 ranking he was given was due to just a poor performance in the battle royal. He's got a tough opponent ahead of him in Chris Masters.

CCW Heavyweight Title Match:
"The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. Chris Hero

The crowd was stunned by this final match in the tournament as it took less then five minutes to crown the first-ever CCW Heavyweight Champion! Chris Hero did the unthinkable, going from number 16 to Champion in a matter of two months. Hero surprised the larger, taller "Masterpiece" with his speed. And, even though he had wrestled just minutes before, Hero was able to connect with the Hero's Welcome for the victory. The celebration didn't last long as Urban Assault ambushed the newly crowd champion as he made his way down the aisle! "Omega" Aaron Draven/"The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs. T2K
After last week's attack by Aaron Draven on Wolfgang, the challenge was made for Draven to find a tag team partner for this month's match. It was a shock to see that his partner turned out to be "The Masterpiece". Draven and Masters used their size and strength advance to push Wolfgang and Darkside around the ring for the better part of the match. Somehow, the smaller team was able to get a little offense in, but it was limited as Draven ducked a clothesline by Wolfgang, turning it into a crucifix for the 1-2-3! After the match, Draven and Masters continued to beat down Wolfgang, much to the dislike of the crowd! Darkside tried to stop the onslaught, but was thrown out of the ring. However, at the end of the match, at a point in which the champion could no longer fend for himself, he was tossed outside the ring. Refereed Earl Hebner was distracted by Siaki as ERIC PEREZ ran through the crowd and attacked Hero outside the ring! Stixx and Stone (w/Dean Ayass) vs. The X-Foundation
Joey Ryan and Scott Lost asked for this match because of the way their match was won last month in Santa Monica. They both took the fight to Stixx and Martin Stone, much to the dismay of Dean Ayass. And, just like last month, Ayass stuck his nose into the middle of the match - this time on his team's behalf - when he placed Stone's foot on the bottom rope to break up the three-count. However, his tactic backfired as referee Nick Patrick caught him and disqualified his team. Joey Ryan and Scott Lost left the ring with the victory, but they were not very happy about it. CCW Commissioner Randal Baker has informed both teams that there will be a return match next month. And, in the "interest of fairness", Dean Ayass will  be banned from ringside!

Wolfgang vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters
There seems to be some true animosity brewing between these two men as of late, but the fans don't seem to see it! Wolfgang came into this match wanting to avenge the loss that he and Darkside received last month at the hands of Masters and Aaron Draven. He fought the bigger "Masterpiece" to and past the limits as referee Earl Hebner saw what was taking place and allowed the match to continue. However, after a few unsuccessful tries, Masters was able to lock in the Masterlock, forcing Wolfgang to submit. After the match, AARON DRAVEN ran down to the ring to continue the beating, but DARKSIDE - who had the night off - intercepted the attack and pulled Wolfgang out of the ring before any more could be done.

Perez proved that he was a worthy contender for the top title in the CCW. But, on this night, the champion had that little "something extra" to overcome the challenge. Hero picked up the win and retained the title after hitting the Hero's Welcome for the 1-2-3. After the match, an exhausted Chris Hero was handed the title by the referee as SONNY SIAKI ran down to the ring and attacked the champion with a steel chair! The four men in this match have been going at each other's throats over the past couple months, and it all came to a head tonight in Santa Monica! These two teams put their bodies on the line as they each tried to prove that they were the more dominate team in the feud. The match went down to the limit, but frustration began to set in, and it caused Wolfgang to throw referee Charles Robinson outside the ring out of disgust. Robinson was quick to call the DQ and awaard the victory to Aaron Draven and Chris Masters. The battle wasn't over though as Masters entered the ring and attacked Darkside while Draven threw Wolfgang to the floor. Stixx and Martin Stone showed tonight that their manager, Dean Ayass, was the anchor that was holding
them back from rising to the top of the tag team division. With Ayass banned from ringside, these two men roared into the ring and ripped Joey Ryan and Scott Lost to pieces - culminating with Stixx pinned Scott Lost after the Splash Mountain. After the match, however, Martin Stone grabbed a microphone and told the Santa Monica crowd that he and Stixx did not feel appreciated in the CCW, and that tonight was their last match with the company. They effectively left the ring... and the CCW.

Urban Assault vs. "The Original Hot Shot" Cassidy Riley/Chris Hero
This month, Chris Hero had help in the form of Cassidy Riley - who saved Hero from a certain beatdown last month. And, together, they gave Eric Perez and Sonny Siaki about all they could handle. They were able to keep the "score" even, taking the match to the limit, but Urban Assault apparently had done enough damage over the past couple months that Chris Hero was running on empty towards the end. Hero was the victim of the Siakoylpse NOW and the loser of the fall. Perez and Siaki celebrated the victory as the Santa Monica crowd voiced their hatred.

SBS vs. The Young Bucks
For the second straight month these two teams faced off, but this time the winning team would advance to the Tag Team Title Match later in the card. Like their last match, this one was very hard fought from both sides, even causing Matt Jackson to injury his back as he connected with the More Bang Ffor Your Buck on Exaclibur to pick up the victory! The thought on everyone's mind afterwards was whether or not Matt would be back for the title match later in the day...

The X-Foundation team of Joey Ryan and Scott Lost earned their way into the Tag Team Title Match with a pretty decisive victory over Urban Assualt. Announcement
After the second match of the evening, CCW Commissioner Randal Baker came out to the ring with the CCW Tag Team Titles in hand. He announced to the crowd that Matt Jackson would not be able to compete in the Tag Team Title match due to the back injury he suffered earlier in the program. Therefore, Baker says that due to the injury forfeiture by The Young Bucks, the CCW Tag Team Titles would not belong to The X-Foundation by default. As the titles were being distributed, NICK JACKSON appears and demands that he gets a tag team title match against The X-Foundation next month. Commissioner Baker says he'll allow the match if Jackson can find a suitable partner.

Karl "Machine Gun" Anderson vs. "The Original Hot Shot" Cassidy Riley
The rookie, Karl Anderson, can't seem to find his footing in the CCW just yet as he walked away with another loss this month. However, Cassidy Riley finally turned around his losing way with the victory.

Danny Havoc vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters
Chris Masters seemed to still be fuming over not being able to capture the Heavyweight Title last month, as he came into this match looking to physically hurt Danny Havoc. However, in the end, Masters tweaked a knee and found it impossible to continue. His only option was to pull the referee in front of a clothesline by Havoc, thus getting himself disqualified... handing the victory to Havoc. After the match, Masters was helped to the back by the medical staff. It will be a couple months before he sees any in-ring action.

However, Rex Butler - the man who lost due to DQ last month - was very determined to prove that his loss was nothing but a fluke that got caught. Tonight, however, Human Tornado's quest to win the title was cut short as Butler connected with the Wicked Sensation for the 1-2-3 to become the CCW's first-ever X-Title holder!

Non-Title Match:

He didn't waste much time sticking his nose into things as he entered the ring and smashed Chris Hero in the back with a steel chair! "Slick" Nick Jackson/Mystery Partner vs. (c) The X-Foundation

Nick Jackson promised that he would have an accountable parter last month as he challenged the new Tag Team Champions to a match. Tonight, no one was expecting WOLFGANG to come out and assist Jackson. Wolfgang's former partner - Darkside - left the CCW a couple months back, and Jackson offered him the chance to win Tag Team gold. This match was very impressive... and the quickly put together team took the champs to the absolute limit. However, a misunderstanding hindered Wolfgang from breaking up the pinfall after Scott Lost hit the Vertebreaker II on Jackson for the 1-2-3. For the second month in a row, these two men set the ring on fire over the X-Title belt. The CCW was shocked last month with Rex Butler walked out as the only one standing in a Triple Threat Match for the vacant title, and tonight Human Tornado got a bit or retribution back from that match. Alisha Hicks did all she possibly could to make sure that Butler walked out of Anaheim as champion: distracting the referee, putting Butler's foot on the ropes; but it ultimately had no effect as it appeared that Butler injured his back after a backdrop. He was unable to kick out as H.T. took advantage and got the 1-2-3!

Butler came in wanting to win back the title he held for just a month, and wanting to finally put an end to Human Tornado. However, the champion knew what was at stake, and knew that the challenger would stop at nothing to win back his title. Best of Three Match:
"The Original Hot Shot" Cassidy Riley vs. Danny Havoc

This was the match to settle the score between these two after months of back-and-forth decisions. Havoc took the first fall after Riley attempted an Asai moonsault to the outside of the ring, but slipped on the top rope, crashing to the ground. Due to the severity of the injury, the referee tried to stop the match... only to have Riley swear he could finish it. And, finish it he did! Later in the match, as Havoc as arguing what he thought was a slow count, Riley rolled him up to even the match at one decision apiece. The finaly blow came just minutes later as - out of nowhere - Riley mustarded up enough strength to connect with a Superkick for the 1-2-3 and the final decision! Afterwards, Riley fell to the canvas. He was checked out by the medical staff and said to have suffered a slight concussion during his fall to the floor. (4) Best-of-Three-Falls Match - CCW Heavyweight Title: Human Tornado vs. (c) "The Puerto Rican Nightmare" Eric Perez

Human Tornado was given one final shot for a chance to take the Heavyweight Title away from Eric Perez... all he had to do was win two falls and he would be awarded his second title in the CCW. His plans were interrupted as, for the second time in three weeks, JOEY RYAN ran down to the ring, tossing Eric Perez any weapons he could find at ringside! Multiple times, the referee threatened to throw Ryan from ringside (and disqualify Perez), but he allowed the match to continue. Perez was able to hit various big moves - including the Annexation of Puerto Rico - for near two-counts, but he wasn't able to put Human Tornado away. The first fall went to H.T. after he countered a clothesline with a crucifix to give him a quick 1-0 lead. As the second fall began, Joey Ryan continued to interfere on the champion's behalf, however that was cut short as CHRIS MASTERS ran to the ring an even the score for Human Tornado! With "The Masterpiece" keeping "Magnum" at bay, Human Tornado was able to hit the DND and pick up the 2nd straight fall... and walked away as the NEW CCW Heavyweight Champion!

Human Tornado beat Eric Perez 2 falls to 0:
x Tornado beat E. Perez via a crucifix in 0:10:57

Number One Contenders - Elimination Match:
Tom Howard vs. "The Puerto Rican Nightmare" Eric Perez vs. Chris Hero

Chris Hero had a very dominant performance tonight as he began his quest to retake the CCW Heavyweight Title, and put it back around his waist. An old enemy - Eric Perez - and Tom Howard stood in his way, however. But, Hero proved that he wanted a title shot more than anyone, as he quickly eliminated Howard in just under seven minutes. That left Hero and Perez to duke it out for the spot to facing Karl Anderson at WrestleRage II. Hero and Perez just about went the distance, and after some aggressive fighting, Hero was able to put Perez away for the 1-2-3, to become the rightful #1 Contender. As Hero celebrated the win with the crowd, Commissioner RANDALL BAKER came out and announced that he would switching the referee's decision based on incompetence on the ref's part. Baker said that he watched as the referee counted to 10 - counting out both men, earlier in the match - and then let the match continue. Tonight, H.T. wanted more then just the title belt; he wanted to prove that he was the best athlete in the CCW. He took the Champion past the 20-minute time limit but wasn't able to keep his progress as he succumbed to Anderson's patented Spinebuster for the 1-2-3! Anderson celebrated the victory, but was interrupted as Commissioner RANDALL BAKER once again appeared for the crowd. Baker said that he was upset by the lack of good officiating in the CCW so far in the first two days of 2011. He said that he would not tolerate another match being allowed to continue after it was clear that both men were counted out. Baker says that the title defense is void due to the Double Countout that should've been called earlier in the match! Baker then said that he had already signed a Triple Threat Match for WrestleRage II earlier... but, because of circumstances in this match, that main event would now be a FATAL FOUR-WAY for the CCW Heavyweight Title... with Human Tornado being the final participant. Upset by the announcement, Karl Anderson attacked Commissioner Baker with the title belt!! October 29-30, 2011
The Thunderdome - Santa Barbara, Ca.

CCW Heavyweight Champion, Chris Hero started off the event coming out to the ring, wanting to talk about how his title defense against Danny Havoc ended last month. He said that he could still remember how much Havoc wanted to do well in this business when he first showed up at Hero's training school. Hero said that he thought he had taught Havoc better than to resort to attacking the referee when things weren't going his way. He then issued a "one-time" offer to his former student, to come back under Hero's wing. Havoc eventually came to the ring - after making the Santa Barbara crowd wait - and hesitantly agreed to have Hero help him. The two of them shook hands before making their way backstage.

Seth Skyfire/Masada vs. (c) The Young Bucks

For weeks leading up to this match, the buzz around the CCW was that Seth Skyfire and Johnny Jeter were going to form the "New Thrillseekers" and ran roughshot over the tag team division. Tonight, they were set to make their debut against the Tag Team Champions. However, Johnny Jeter was nowhere to be found... forcing Skyfire to find a replacement partner before the match! Out of desperation, Skyfire was able to persuade Masada to help him tonight... but the help didn't pay off as Masada was just a second too late as he tried to break up the deciding pinfall. CCW General Manager Randall Baker started off the second night with two big announcements. He said that he rivalry between Jay Lethal and Christopher Daniels was what this business is known for... and that it was a distinct honor to have both them as members of his roster. Baker said that he had taken the challenge issued by Lethal last week as seriously as any other. And, after thinking long and hard to find a match that would fit this kind of match, he had found his answer. Tonight, Lethal and Daniels would square off in the first-ever Singapore Cane match in CCW history!

He wished both men good luck before saying there was one person in this state that he wouldn't wish good luck to ever... Eric Bischoff! Baker said that the unnamed promotion from up north brought in Bischoff as a way to get asses in the seats, just like his time running the WCW. Baker said that it went well at first, but recalls that the last time Bischoff was in a "fight" with another company, he won battle after battle, but ultimately lost the war...
