NAWA Glory 3/30/06

We see Larry Sweeney and Abyss arriving at the building. Last week, Harry Harris was hung over the top rope by Abyss's chain and was nearly strangled to death. Sweeney arrives the building but suddenly, Harry Harris flies out of nowhere like a bat out of the hell, knocking Sweeney down and beating Abyss with punches. Abyss staggers backwards as Harry Harris rams Abyss headfirst into a metal door and pounds away at him. He grabs Abyss's chain and wraps it around his throat but Sweeney nails Harris with a pipe from behind, before Abyss grabs Harris by the throat, before ramming him into a wall. Harris is slumped against the walls as Sweeney laughs like a madman, saying that if Harry Harris wants Abyss so badly, he can face him one on one at Wildfire! With that Sweeeny and Abyss walk off.

Tony Mamaluke looks pleased, as he walks away from an armored trunk with a duffel bag. He brags to a group of security guards that he has his half of a million dollar performance bonus, signalling his first year under the management of Larry Sweeney. Mamaluke walks backstage, arrogantly parading around, flashing his cash towards a few other backstage workers and some local wrestlers who competed in a dark match earlier tonight hanging around backstage.

Tonight: Team 3D will face off against the former NAWA World Champion Miles Stylish and the NAWA International Champion Christian Cage in tonight's tag team main event match. Also, number one contenders for the NAWA International and Television Titles will be decided. Ron Killings squares off against AJ Styles in a number one contenders match for the NAWA International Title and a ten man battle royal takes place for the number one contendership for the NAWA Television Championship. Also, the NAWA Cruiserweight Champion Bryan Danielson and the NAWA Television Champion Samoa Joe join forces to go for the NAWA Tag Team Championship of Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley. An action packed edition of Glory tonight.

Brawl to the start, as these ten men prepare to fight Joe. It is not long before Elix Skipper manages to lauche Alex Shelley over the top rope and to the arena floor. Shelley is knocked from behind with a high kneelift from Skyhawk, before he is launched to the floor next. Skyhawk and Anderson double team Austin Aries in the corner but Aries fights back with some chops, as Percival Stephens catches Mark Briscoe with a spinning leg lariat, and beats on him, but Briscoe refuses to go over the top rope. Diamond goes for a superkick but Stephens ducks and Briscoe gets wiped out with a superkick. Stephens delivers a leaping clothesline, sending Diamond over the top rope and to the arena floor for the elimination. Anderson pummels Stephens from behind and hoists him up, before dropping him with a flapjack, before he saves Sederick Skyhawk from certain elimination at the hands of Petey Williams.

Double suplex from the Briscoe Brothers but Percival Stephens catches Mark Briscoe and sitdown faceslam brings him down. GERMAN SUPLEX DRIVES HIM RIGHT ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD! Briscoe is lifted into a fireman's carry and dumped over the top rope for the elimination. Stephens looks pleased. Skyhawk delivers a chop right to the chest of Aries. Another chop right to the chest of Aries. A third chop to the chest of Aries but Aries dumps Skyhawk over the top rope to the arena floor! Skyhawk has been eliminated, as the crowd is in shock. Like him or not, Skyhawk was the favorite to win this battle royal. Aries rushes over and punches a stunned Petey Williams in the midsection, before launching him over the top rope for another elimination.

Final four between Percival Stephens, Austin Aries, Jay Briscoe, and C.W. Anderson, one of these men will square off against Samoa Joe for the NAWA Television Title at Wildfire, no way Austin Aries dropkicks Stephens to the outside. Anderson and Jay Briscoe trade punches, with Anderson whipping Jay into the ropes but the head is ducked. Somersault neckbreaker by Jay Briscoe brings Anderson down and Aries drills him with a kneelift, before throwing Jay over the top rope, no Jay hangs on. Aries kicks Anderson and beats on him, grabbing onto both legs, before pushing him over the top rope. Now it's between Austin Aries and Jay Briscoe for that all important title shot against Samoa Joe for the NAWA Television Title and Jay Briscoe delivers a springboard forearm smash. Aries teeters on the top rope and Jay attempts to kick him to the floor, but no dice. Into the ring and vicious spike DDT. Aries is down and Jay tries to pick up the dead weight of Aries, but Aries refuses to come up. Jay dropkicks Aries in the face and climbs to the top rope but Aries catches him with an uppercut. Another uppercut and Aries climbs up. AVALANCHE BRAINBUSTER FOLDS UP JAY BRISCOE ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD! Aries turns himself and hoists up Jay, before walking forward. Front layout suplex and Jay is draped on the top rope. Aries backs off and RUNNING KNEE STRIKE SENDS JAY RIGHT OFF THE TOP ROPE, INTO THE GUARDRAIL! Ray says that they will make an impact, but not for Raven, for them, and for another chance to become NAWA World Tag Team Champions. Raven nods, saying that Stylish and Christian would not hesitate to take them out and to do so first. Raven adds it would be a shame if Stylish could not make it to Wildfire, because that would lead the NAWA World Title match wide open and perhaps either Brother Ray or Brother Devon could get the title shot. This gets them thinking and Raven walks off before we could here another word of this.

The NAWA World Tag Team Titles are on the line when Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley put the gold on the line against the NAWA Cruiserweight Champion Bryan Danielson and the NAWA Television Champion Samoa Joe. A star studded championship encounter coming up after this time out on Glory!

We see Larry Sweeney berating Tony Mamaluke for gambling his entire five hundred thousand dollar performance bonus away. He says that Mamaluke should have been smart enough to realize that it was not a good idea to place a bet with someone called the Gambler. Sweeney, under duress, says that he'll ensure Abyss is out ther and Harris seems satisified for now, shoving Sweeney into a wall and knocking him with a kick right to the chest. Harris storms off as the announcers talk about what has just transpired.

Coming Up Next: Christian Cage and Miles Stylish against Team 3D in the main event. More Glory right after this time out.

[commercial]

Coming Up Next Week a huge main event match between the Gambler and the former NAWA World Champion and current number one contender to that belt, Miles Stylish. Both of these men had some battles in the past, most recently last year at Gold Rush and will face off once again next week on Glory.

Team 3D vs. Christian Cage and Miles Stylish

Brother Ray trades some punches with Stylish at the bell, getting the better of the exchange. Atomic drop to Stylish and clothesline, before Christian enters the ring and gets hiptossed down to the mat. Brother Devon enters the ring and rag tags Christian with punches. Leaping clothesline knocks him to the floor, before a double team suplex puts Miles Stylish down for a two count. Brother Ray stomps Stylish, hammers him with punches, and side slam gets a two count. Christian is doubled over and Brother Ray winds up, before bringing the point of the elbow down. Christian's legs buckle and Brother Ray bounces off the ropes but the referee steps in front of him as Christian is slumped down on the canvas. That elbow drilled Christian right in the back of the neck and he's completely collapsed on the canvas. The announcers go into a hush as Team 3D back off. The NAWA International Champion has been taken down in battle and is not moving. The bell rings and the match stops.

Team 3D (Brother Devon and Brother Ray) and Miles Stylish and Christian Cage battled to a no contest in 0:06:04. Christian Cage suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 11 months.
Rating: *** 1/4

The fans are in a hush as Christian is down in the center of the ring, with a few jerks in the crowd chanting "bullshit". A routine elbowsmash hit Christian in the wrong place on the back of his neck and suddenly he's not moving. Stylish checks on his tag team partner as paramedics come out. It just goes to illustrate that even though these men are trained professionals, injuries can happen at the worst possible times and these moves, even the simplest ones, should not be tried at home. Christian is being gently placed on a backboard, strapped as we see a replay of the elbow. You can see Christian's arms go limp to the side, his legs collapsing, with his entire body just giving out. He is carried to the back, fingers twitching a good sign. We're going to try to have an update on the condition of Christian, along with the status of the NAWA International Title but right now let's head to the parking lot where Harry Harris is waiting for Abyss.

Backstage:

Harry Harris is waiting and Abyss rushes out. The fight is on, this impromptu street fight in the parking lot, as both men are trading punches and kicks. Neither man wants to wait until Wildfire but Abyss is only staggered. Harris drills him with a pair of kicks right to the chest before he picks up a glass bottle. THE GLASS BOTTLE IS BUSTED RIGHT OVER THE HEAD OF ABYSS! The fans in the arena cheer for this brutality as glass and blood flies everywhere, before Harris spears Abyss right into the bumper of a car and chokes Abyss with his own chain, before dragging him around. Headfirst into the side of a van and now right into the production truck, before Harris drags Abyss to the top of the production truck. They are twenty feet above concrete and Harris beats on Abyss, pounding away at him. High kick right to the chest and Harris goes for a piledriver. Not off the truck, this might kill both men. NO ABYSS COUNTERS WITH A BACK DROP ON THE TRUCK! The crowd is making noise in the arena, as Abyss wraps his chain around his arm, before he clotheslines Harris with it. Harris is pulled forward and grabbed by the throat. No, no, we see Larry Sweeney below, cackling like a mad man as Abyss hoists Harris up. HOLY SHIT, ABYSS JUST CHOKE SLAMS HARRIS OFF OF THE TOP OF THE PRODUCTION TRUCK STRAIGHT ONTO THE CONCRETE BELOW!

The camera angle cuts to the broken form of Harry Harris, lying in a pool of blood below. Abyss stands above as Sweeney walks over, saying that Harris should have just quit while he was ahead tonight. Abyss will finish off what's left of him at Wildfire. With that note, we fade to black. See you next week.

That really sucks with the injury to Christian.  He was becoming such an entertaining and huge part of NAWA.  Stupid TNM.
