World Championship Wrestling Convention

- What a huge night here in Nashville! Tonight Round 1 of the US title Tournament, The Powers of Pain will face The Rock'n'Roll Express for the #1 contenders spot. North American Champion Tully Blanchard will face Italian Stallion in a non title match, and in a huge match, Sgt. Slaughter will face the Masked Wrestler tonight in the main event.


[US Title - Round 1]:
Boris Zhukov vs. Jim Jamison


Home town hero Jim Jamison looking to make some moves in WCWC faces Boris Zhukov in this first round match up. Not the prettiest of matches but Zhukov did enough to upset the crowd and move on to the semi finals.

Winner: Boris Zhukov with the Flying Headbutt in 0:10:22.

- The world Champion Dusty Rhodes enters to the ring as the Nashville crowd gives him a standing ovation. Rhodes talks a little about his trip to Mexico City then on the Masked Wrestler who attacked him. He told the crowd that after Sgt. Slaughter finishes with him he will have to step into the ring with the American Dream. This brought out Ric Flair who tells Rhodes not too fast. The last time Flair checked, he was the Number One Contender and that means if Rhodes was going to step in the ring with anybody it was going to be with him. Rhodes then said the he wouldn't be surprised if Flair was the masked man but Flair told Rhodes why would he mask this face? He then told Rhodes to kiss that title goodbye.




Number-One-Contenders-Match:
The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian and Warlord) vs. Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson)


The last couple of weeks these two teams been feeling each other out. Tonight they battle to see who faces the road Warriors for the titles. We knew this one was going to get ugly and ugly it was. Jimmy Hart has his boys focused and when it was done. Barbarian was diving off the top rope with a flying headbutt.

Winner: The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian and Warlord) with a flying headbutt in 0:19:15.

- Randy Savage is talking to the Masked Wrestler and Savage is adamant that they do something soon or they will lose their shot at Rhodes. The masked Wrestler told Savage as long as he lives up to his part of the bargain he will take care of Rhodes.




[US Title - Round 1]:
Mike Von Erich made The Spoiler II


The Spoiler looking to make a statement in WCWC, faced crowd favorite Mike Von Erich. A great match but it was Von Erich winning with the Claw.

Winner: Mike Von Erich with the Iron Claw in 0:12:30.

Earthquake vs. Magnum T.A.

Last week Earthquake laid waste to T.A when Zhukov drafted the big man to join forces. T.A looking for some revenge had an uphill climb with this mass of a man. This was a great match and soon spilled outside the ring. Both battled each other and failed to answer the 10 count.

- Backstage WCWC Tag Champions Road Warriors talk about facing the Powers of Pain next week in Atlanta. Hawk was not worried because they have taken out all who have tried. Animal called the Powers a Pain a K-Mart takeoff of the Warriors and like all imitations they will break.



[US Title - Round 1]:
Dick Slater vs. Mark Youngblood


Ron Starr was scheduled to face Youngblood but for some reason was being replaced by Dick Slater. Slater took advantage of the opportunity and took out Youngblood.

Winner: Dick Slater with the Piledriver in 0:16:49.

(Ron Starr no-showed.)



The Italian Stallion vs. WCWC North American Champion Tully Blanchard

Blanchard answered Stallions title challenge by slamming the title in his face then slapping him around. Well Stallion ask and was granted this non title match for a little revenge. Blanchard looked off his game as Stallion made quick work of the champion.

Winner: The Italian Stallion with the Stallion Slam in 0:03:18.

[US Title - Round 1]:
Kato Kung Lee vs. Playboy Buddy Rose


Kato Kung Lee looking to step up and with a victory over Rode he may have. Lee and Rose battled it for a while but Lee picked up the win.

Winner: Kato Kung Lee via pinfall in 0:14:02.

Sgt. Slaughter vs. The Masked Wrestler

Slaughter got first crack at the masked wrestler who has been terrorizing Dusty Rhodes for the last few weeks and this was a great match. The Masked Wrestler was all over Slaughter but Slaughter came back. Slaughter was about to lock on the Cobra Clutch but Mach Man randy Savage jumped in the ring and started in on Slaughter. Dusty Rhodes came down and went right for the Masked Wrestler. The ref lost all control of this one called for the bell but that did not stop anything.

Winner: Sgt. Slaughter by Disqualification
in 0:11:19.

Next week WCWC will be in Atlanta, GA. This just signed. With Italian Stallion's win tonight, Stallion will face Tully Blanchard for the North American Heavyweight title. - Sgt. Slaughter is talking to Ric Steamboat talking game plan about tonight's big tag match against Randy Savage and The Masked Wrestler. After a few words Slaughter slaps Steamboat on his arm and Steamboat grabs his arm in pain. Slaughter asks if he is ok and Steamboat said that he over worked himself in the gym.



[US Title - Semi Finals]:
Dick Slater vs. Kato Kung Lee


Slater had a mean streak about him tonight that he took out on Kato Kung Lee. Slater was all over Lee who quickly seemed overwhelmed by Slater.

Winner: Dick Slater with the Piledriver in 0:08:21.

- It is announced that tonight's North American title match will be the best 2 out of 3 falls.



Sputnik Monroe and Ron Starr vs. Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson)

The Express looking to bounce back after last week's lost ran into a no nonsense team of Monroe and Starr. A brutal match that went the full 20.

draw in 0:20:00.

Koko B. Ware vs. Barry Horowitz

The Birdman feed off the Atlanta crowd and put on a great match as Horowitz fell to B. ware.

Winner:Koko B. Ware via pinfall in 0:10:57.

- Randy Savage is talking to to the Masked Wrestler who we now know is going by the name La Sombra. He tells Savage that the 1st phase of the plan is in action and phase 2 is about to start. He pics up a phone and makes a call as Savage listen in.




Curt Hennig vs. Jim Jamison

Hinning who was returning to action after a few weeks off had no problems taking out Jim Jamison.

Winner: Curt Hinnig with the Hennig Plex in 0:10:30

- Road Warriors are asked about tonights match but doesn't say much. Hawk said that The Powers of Pain will be in lots of Pain after tonight.




[US Title - Semi Finals]:
Mike Von Erich vs. Boris Zhukov


Mike Von Erich and Zhukov just stared at each other for the first 30 seconds before they both lit into each other. After about 5 minutes it was Von Erich with the claw.

Winner: Mike Von Erich with the Iron claw in 0:05:40.

- Backstage we see Slaughter in his lock room when in attendant comes in and hands Slaughter a note. Slaughter reads it then balls it up and tosses it in the trash can then hurries out the room.




Two-out-of-three-Falls Match:
WCWC North American Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard vs.The Italian Stallion


The Stallion didn't wait for the introductions to end before he lit into Blanchard and controlled the match from the bell.

Winner: The Italian Stallion 1 falls to 0
x Italian Stallion beat Blanchard via the Stallion Slam in 0:08:52

In the 2nd fall Blanchard slowed the pace down and worked the Stallion on the mat and worked on the Stallion's back. This one was all Blanchard.

Winner: Tully Blanchard 1 falls to 1
x Blanchard beat Italian Stallion via a snap mare in 0:14:13

The final fall and both wrestlers left nothing in reserve. Both men scored some near pinfalls but it was Blanchard who got the rollover to retain the title.

Winner: Tully Blanchard 2 falls to 1
x Blanchard beat Italian Stallion via a rollover in 0:16:35

Ric Flair vs. Pat Hutchinson

No contest as Flair was all over Pat Hutchinson. Flair continues to look good.

Winner: Ric Flair with the Figure-Four Leglock in 0:09:06.

- Jimmy hart talks about his team's chances in defeating the Road Warriors for the titles. Hart talks about the Warriors attitude and that his team will be the one that will check their attitude and walk out World Champions.




Randy Savage and La Sombra vs. Sgt. Slaughter and Rick Steamboat

Slaughter was in the ring by himself as Rick Steamboat was a no show. It was announced that due to circumstances beyond their control Steamboat will not be able to wrestle. La Sombra jumped off the top rope and attacked Slaughter. With the match started it was 2 on 1 handicap until Dusty Rhodes came down to even things up. Slaughter was able to tag out to Rhodes who came in and excite the crowd. Savage was able to take Rhodes out eith the flying elbow outside the ring and La Sombra hit a tiger Suplex to stun the Atlanta crowd.

Winner: Randy Savage and La Sombra with a tiger suplex in 0:18:00.

WCWC World Tag Team Champions The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) vs. The Powers of Pain (The Barbarian and Warlord)

Jimmy Hart tried everything he could to get the Pain over but it was not to be as the Road Warriors retain the titles.

Winner: The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) with a power bomb in 0:27:18.
Rating: ** 1/2
(The Road Warriors retained the World Tag Team Titles.)

Match observations:

Next week in Macon, GA Dick Slater will face Mike Von Erich for the US Heavyweight Title. Will try to find out what happened to Rick Steamboat and in the Main Event, Ric Flair will face Dusty Rhodes for the World Title.

- Tonight, Dick Slater and Mike Von Erich will battle to see who will be the WCWC's first United States Champion and in the Main Event, Ric Flair will face Dusty Rhodes for the World Heavyweight title.



Koko B. Ware vs. Playboy Buddy Rose

Koko B. Ware opened up tonight's action by taking on "Playboy" Buddy Rose. The Macon crowd was still filing in but it didn't bother him as he was able to take out Rose for the win.

Winner: Koko B. Ware with a flying forearm in 0:13:49.
Rating: DUD


- Sgt. Slaughter is seen walking back stage when he runs into Steamboat. Slaughter as him what happened last week? Steamboat said he was told he had an emergency at home and had to leave right away. Slaughter asked if everything was ok and Steamboat nodded. He asked if he was going to be at ring side with him to watch Rhodes back against La Sombra and Savage. Steamboat said he would be there.



The Spoiler II vs. Pat Hutchinson

The Spoiler made quick work of Hutchinson finishing him with a Full Nelson Slam.

Winner: The Spoiler II with the Full Nelson Slam in 0:10:09.

- Randy Savage is in his locker room talking to a shadowy figure in the corner. Ric Flair walks in surprising Savage who quickly turns around blocking Flair's view of the man in the corner. Savage asks what Flair wants. Flair tells Savage that he had his shot at Rhodes and lost. He then said that tonight he will take out Rhodes and didn't need Savage our his masked friend doing anything to mess things up. Savage told Flair to get out his face because the next world champion will not be flair but the Macho Man.



Invaders #1 and #3 (Invader #1 and Invader #3) vs. Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson)

The Rock 'n' Roll Express faced new comers to WCWC The Invaders and the Invaders were not backing down. Ricky Morton was in the ring with Invader #1 when the Invader hit Morton in the chest with a vicious punch and Morton fell like a rock. After the match attendants carried Morton to the back with Gibson looking on with concern.

Winners: The Invaders with the Heart Punch in 0:13:25.

- The mistrious El Sombra and World Champion Dusty Rhodes are in full battle as Rhodes slams El Sombra on the concrete floor. Savage the comes from behind and takes out Rhodes with a chair. El Sombra slams Rhodes head a couple of times on the floor the takes the WCW World title and walks away with it. Savage gets one last kick then leaves as Sgt. Slaughter runs to Rhodes aid.



Match for the vacant United States Heavyweight Title:
Mike Von Erich vs. Dick Slater


This was the final match for the US Heavyweight title. Mike Von Erich and Dick Slater battled through their brackets and now meet for the title. Slater was all over Von Erich as the Macon crowd was non to happy. The willed Von Erich back into the match and with the claw locked on, Von Erich wins the title.

Winner: Mike Von Erich with the stomach claw in 0:13:02.
Rating: * 3/4
(Mike Von Erich won the United States Heavyweight Title.)


- Back stage Rhodes is being bandeged up and tells Slaughter that he has had it with Savage and El Sombra and that after he takes out Flair, He will take out Save and El Sombra for good. Slaughter said that Rhodes could count on him as well as Steamboat. Rhodes asked where was Steamboat anyway?



Sputnik Monroe and Ron Starr vs. Jim Jamison and Kato Kung Lee

Monroe and Starr have become a formidable team as they destroyed Lee and Jamison. After the match Monroe had a pronounced limb while making his way to the back.

Winners: Sputnik Monroe and Ron Starr after a sitdown splash in 0:03:51.

No-Countout-Match:
Magnum T.A. vs. Earthquake


The last time these two met they battled outside the ring and were both counted out. This time they meet in a no count out match. T.A held his own against Earthquake but Earthquake locked on a choke hold and would not release by the five count. The ref disqualified Earthquake but he didn't seem to care.

Winner: Magnum T.A by disqualification in 0:12:50.

- Slaughter is seen knocking on Steamboats locker room door but there is no answer. Upset Slaughter leaves and makes his way to the ring.



Sgt. Slaughter vs. Boris Zhukov

Slaughter walked into the ring and was blindsided by Zhukov who relentlessly attacked Slaughter. Macon booed Zhukov but he didn't care. Slaughter finally got back into it and was able to lock on the Boston crab.

Winner: Sgt. Slaughter with the Boston crab in 0:10:40.

- Before the referee could raise Slaughter's hand Randy Savage comes down and distracts Slaughter. From the opposite corner El Sombra climbs the rope and does a flying drop kick on target. Slaughter is out cold as Savage climbs the rope then drops an elbow. Macon boos as Dusty Rhodes comes running from the back. Savage and El Sombra slides out the ring quickly.



Ric Flair vs. WCWC World Heavyweight Champion Dusty Rhodes

Rhodes is livid in the ring as he points to Savage and El Sombra. Flair makes his way to the ring and the match starts. You can tell Rhodes attention is split between Flair in the ring and Savage and El Sombra on the outside. Rhodes battles like a champ but when he was tossed outside, Save distracted the ref as El Sombra came in with quick kicks and chops bringing down the champ. Flair upset about the interference tried to bring Rhodes in the ring but was unable to beat the 10 count.

Winner: Ric Flair by countout in 0:09:14.
Rating: ***
(Dusty Rhodes retained the World Heavyweight Title.)
[El Sombra and Randy Savage interfered against Dusty Rhodes.]

Match observations:

WCWC will be in Valdosta, GA next week as action heats up. What will come out of the main event mess? North American Champion Tully Blanchard will be in action. Join us for more WCWC Action.

***News***


After the action in Macon, Earthquake was visibly upset with WCWC officials. We tried to get a reason for the disagreement but we were just told that Earthquake has left WCWC and they wish him well in his future endeavors.

Sputnik Monroe will be out for 5 weeks with a sprained ACL. In other news, Doctors report that Surgery on King Kong Bundy to repair a torn triceps went well and that Bundy should be back in action in a few months.

- Tonight, Mike Von Erich defends his US Championship against Dick Slater. The Road Warriors will be in action. North American Champion Tully Blanchard faces Jim Jamison. Then in a huge main event, a four corner match with huge implications on who will face Dusty Rhodes for the World Heavyweight title.



Koko B. Ware vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu

- Koko comes into tonight looking to continue his winning ways by taking on Yoshiaki Yatsu. Yatsu frustrated that he was unable to pin the "Birdman" took it out on the referee with a piledriver. The match was quickly called. There sure to be a fine coming Yatsu's way.

Winner: Koko B. Ware by disqualification in 0:11:47.

- Sgt. Slaughter is sitting in his locker room when an attendant enters and hands Slaughter a note. Slaughter reads it then asks the attendant who gave it to him. The attendant said he had no idea. It was just there. Slaughter gets up and heads out.



United States Heavyweight Champion Mike Von Erich vs. Dick Slater

- In a rematch from last week's tournament finals match, Slater was looking to revenge his loss to Von Erich and win the title in one move. But Mike Von Erich had other plans and a well placed claw ended Slater night and Von Erich defends his title.

Winner: Mike Von Erich with the stomach claw in 0:04:15.
Rating: * 1/2
(Mike Von Erich retained the United States Heavyweight Title.)



Mark Youngblood vs. The Spoiler II

- The Spoiler was looking for his second win but came up short against a fiery Mark Youngblood.

Winner: Mark Youngblood with the Flying Tomahawk in 0:01:12.

- Sgt. Slaughter returns to his locker room with a bag in his hand a disappointed yet disgusted look on his face. He looks in to the bag once more the heads back out.


Invaders #1 and #3 (Invader #1 and Invader #3) vs. Rhythm'n'Blues (Greg Valentine and Honky Tonk Man)

- Last week the Invaders picked up an impressive win and tonight the faced Jimmy Hart and his boys Honky Tonk Man and Greg Valentine. This was a great match going back and forth but it was the Invaders who picked up the win.

Winner: Invaders 1 and 2 with the Heart Punch in 0:25:45.

- World Champion Dusty Rhodes is heading towards his dressing room when Slaughter meets up with him. He tells Rhodes he has some big news he should know before his match tonight. He asks Rhodes is he would like to know who El Sombra was. Dusty nodded yes. Slaughter told him to follow him.



North American Heavyweight Champion Tully Blanchard vs. Jim Jamison

- Tully Blanchard had no problem taking out Jamison. After the match, Blanchard again started on his rant about no worthy competition for his title.

Winner: Tully Blanchard by countout in 0:08:43.

- In another locker room we see Steamboat looking for something in his locker and frustrated that he cannot find it. Then Slaughter and Rhodes walk in and Rhodes throw the bag at Steamboat and ask if this he was looking for? Steamboat opened the bag and in it was the mask of El Sombra. Steamboat threw the bag back at Rhodes and makes a run for it.



World Tag Team Champions The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) vs. Stan Stasiak and Ron Starr

- The World champs were in action taking on Stan Stasiak and Ron Starr. Impressive showing by Stasiak and Starr but the Champs were just to much.

Winner: The Road Warriors with a flying shoulderblock in 0:11:53.

No-Time-Limit-Four Corners Match:
Randy Savage vs. World Heavyweight Champion Dusty Rhodes vs. Rick Steamboat vs. Ric Flair:


- With the revelation that Ric Steamboat was the infamous El Sombra changed the dynamic of this match. In this elimination match, the winner gets to face Rhodes for the World title next week in Gainesville, Florida. If Rhodes wins then he gets a one on one shot at Steamboat. Ric Flair still upset that Steamboat and Savage interfered in his title match last week went right at Steamboat

Winner: Ric Flair by countout in 0:11:27

With Steamboat out Sgt. Slaughter came from back stage and started in on Steamboat. Officials tried to break it up but the two battled all the back stage. Randy Savage to advantage of the situation and started in on Rhodes. Great battle between these two as the "Macho Man" drops the elbow and gets the pin before Flair could make the save.

Winner: Randy Savage with the Fying Elbowdrop in 0:16:34

With the champ gone it was official. Next week Rhodes will be fending his title against either Ric Flair or Randy Savage. Valdosta was on their feet as both men put on one hell of a show but in the end Randy hit the Elbowdrop and walked away victorious.
