Match observations:

The first leg of the draft is over, and there where some
surprising picks tonight. Hiroji Narahashi went first,
followed by Hitomaro Tanizaki, which means that both the
prospective jr. heavyweight aces have permanent homes
in Big Battle

They also faced off in the ring tonight, with Narahashi
getting the win. Tanizaki of course was not slow to blame
something else for his misfortune tonight, saying that the
fans where too loud and he had trouble hearing himself
think over their annoying roar.

Katsuyori Shibata and KENTA had a brutal fight tonight,
but shook hands afterwards in a show of mutual respect.
Tokyo DT must have been paying attention as he drafted
both men to his team back to back. He said they would be
his force in the tag team division, calling them KENKA
Squad.

Danger Kanayama responded to Tokyo DT's selections of
Shibata and KENTA by picking his own team in Ryusuke
Taguchi and Hirooki Goto. He said that Goto and Taguchi
may not be as well known as Shibata and KENTA, they
are more talented and have more heart than either of the
KENKA Squad. He named his team Wonderful Dangerous
Connection.

In the big semi-main event of the evening, veterans
Masaaki Eda and Shoraku Shiba met inside the squared
circle for the first time in history. The match was excellent
with Eda scoring the win with his Eda Elbow.

Finally in the main event, Tokyo DT and Danger Kanayama
faced off. They put on an impressive show, but in the end
Tokyo DT scored the win, and the right to select first in
the second round of the draft next week.

Match observations:

The draft continued here this week on BattlegroundTV, and the Wardogs had first
selection. They didn't surprise anyone when they grabbed the biggest name in the list
and took Masaaki Eda. Eda expressed a small bit of disappointment, as his dislike of
Tokyo DT has been well documented over the last few years. Tokyo DT was quick to put
his foot down, and verbally attacked Eda, calling him "old man" several times, and
telling him that he's expendable fodder in Tokyo DT's "war for the title".

The biggest surprise came in the last pick of the night, as the Ring Generals selected
Michihiro Nakanishi in the draft. Nakanishi is the first student of the Big Battle
School of Wrestling, and has yet to even have a debut match. He was selected over a
few other wrestlers who have all proved to be worthy choices, including, Katsuhiko
Nakajima, Prince Devitt, and Kota Ibushi.

Speaking of Devitt, he and Hitomaro Tanizaki stole the show tonight. Their match was
red hot, and the fans ate it up. Tanizaki scored the win with his grapevine anklelock
but Devitt refused to tapout, and instead passed out from the pain. Tanizaki told
reporters after the match that Devitt was "full of both stupidity and fighting spirit"
and then said "I don't know if I respect his resiliency, or pitty his inability to
recognize the obvious end of a fight..."

Tonights main event saw Danger Kanayama team up with Tim Sampson to face Tokyo DT and
Joji Mazuka (who is making his Big Battle debut). Kanayama and Sampson had a lot of
things working against them, namely tables and chairs, as Mazuka, a renowned death
match worker, resorted to using them frequently. They did manage to overcome in the
end however, as Kanayama hit the Danger Dynamite on Tokyo DT and picked up the win and
the right to draft first next week in the final round of the draft.

Match observations:

Another week, another BattlegroundTV. Who is Toyo Fresh? Why is his rapping so bad? What is he doing here?
Hopefully we'll have answers soon, as he showed up unannounced, refused to enter the draft, assaulted us with this;

"Yo the name is Toyo Fresh,
please to be meetin' yous.
If you would please glimpse,
my sweet threads and fly shoes.
You know that I not be a busta,
by the way that I do represent.
If hard gangsta was a country,
I'd be Toyo Fresh the President!
Please to be keepin' to yourself,
your petty shows of disrespect
The mighty wrestler Toyo Fresh,
is please to put your ass in check."

then he demanded a match against anyone in the back who wasn't wrestling tonight. Atsushi Aoki answered the call and was quickly put down by Fresh, who despite being a complete tool, has a great wrestling background. We'll see if we can dig up any more information on "Toyo Fresh" and fill you in a little more next week.

This week also saw the in ring debut of Michihiro
Nakanishi, who was able to best Katsuhiko Nakajima with the Double Underhook Piledriver
Nakanishi was still adament after the match that he will debut his new finishing move
soon, and that he had hoped it would be perfected before his debut, but it was just not
in the cards.

The only surprise in the final round of the draft was the sudden appearance of Daisuke
Sekimoto and Ryuji Ito of Big Japan Pro Wrestling. The two said they where looking to
make Big Battle a second home, and threw their names on the list of eligible picks.
While Tokyo DT scoffed at the idea of having "part-timers" on his team, Kanayama was
quick to pick both of them and give them a team name "Soul Spirit Armageddon".

KENKA Force once again got the better of Wonderful Dangerous Connection, as their team
won an elimination match tonight 4-1. Shibata was livid after being the only member of
the Wardogs to be eliminated, as he fell to Tim Sampson's Towerfalls. He was in slightly
better spirits after his team won the match however. KENKA Force is proving to be a
powerful team here in Big Battle, but will the be as successful against the new team,
Soul Spirit Armageddon?

In the main event tonight Kanayama defeated Tokyo DT and Shoraku Shiba when he managed
to score a pin on Shiba with the Dynamite Danger. Tokyo DT then attacked Shiba after
the battle, but Kanayama saved him from a beating. Shiba then attacked both men turning
the post-match into a chaotic brawl. Kanayama was the first to head back to the locker
room, saying that he's got two straight wins over Wardogs now, and that he didn't need
this extra stress. DT and Shiba continued to brawl until officials pulled them apart
and DT said that Shiba would pay dearly for costing DT the victory.

Kanayama's two consecutive wins puts him one win away from being able to pick his
opponent in a decision match for the vacant Hero of Big Battle title.

Good card again.  I'm getting the feel for this a little bit.

Also, don't know if you noticed this or not, but the attendance at this latest show was 479.5 fans.  Surely the man in the wheelchair would want to be considered a whole person. :)

Yeah I just noticed that as well...time to tweak the attendance routine in that plug-in. :P

EDIT: Fixed. It will no longer display decimals. In a strange turn of events, the formatting also forces it to display a coma now for numbers over 1,000, which is cool.

Match observations:

Tonight started off with a clip of Toyo Fresh being hounded by reporters. Fresh told
the reporters that he was "please to be keepin' it real" we're not exactly sure what
that entails, but we assume that he means that he's speaking truthfully. During the
act of "keepin' it real" Toyo Fresh stated that he is the biggest thing to hit Big
Battle in it's opening month, and that he refuses to settle for anything less than
championship gold. He then attempted to rhyme something with gold, but when he came
up empty, he shouted, "THE OTHER CONTENDERS BE WIGGIDY WHACK Y'ALL!" We're once again
perplexed by his attrocious and unnesessary use of western slang, but what can you do?

Finally the action moved to the ring, and we were treated to a great bout between two
rookie wrestlers. Michihiro Nakanishi was able to debut his new finisher, the Ouroboros
Hold tonight, and it certainly looked painful. If I had to describe it, it's sort of a
reverse-seated half-crab with a facelock. He basically bent Aoki into a circle while
sitting on his back.

KENKA Force then stepped into the ring with Soul Spirit Armageddon, the match was very
physical, and neither team managed to finish their opponents before the twenty min.
time limit was up. Needless to say, both teams have expressed an interest in a rematch.

Toyo Fresh once again had a short but very good match, this time putting Go Shiozaki
away with his Funky Fresh B-Drop Hold in just over 8 minutes. Unfortunatly, his
after match celebration didn't live up to the quality of the match. He once again
displayed his uncanny ability to maim even the most simple rhymes.

"Toyo Fresh in the legendary Korakuen Hall!
All you suckas get down to the best of 'em all.
Future undisputed champion of the world,
Toyo Fresh walkin' the red carpet unfurled.
No other heavyweight oozes the talent I do,
In the ring, on the mic, I'm better than you!"

He then atempted to beatbox some awful record scratching noises before moving on to yet
another verse.

"Please to stop throwing cups at me,
You're jealous 'cuz I'm a better MC.
From my sweet rhymes to my unmatched flow,
Toyo Fresh is here to steal the show.
Watch as the master get's completely absurd,
I'm Toyo Fresh, and you suckas got served."

After the rapping commenced, Toyo Fresh began to breakdance, which surprisingly wasn't
that bad.

How can anything follow that? Hitomaro Tanizaki and Masutaro Koruba had the unenviable
task of getting the show back to wrestling. They did so with a very good match, which
saw Tanizaki go over Koruba with the Grapevine Ankle Lock.

Tanizaki's rival, Hiroji Narahashi was in the following match with Kota Ibushi. Ibushi
almost scored the win, but Narahashi caught him going up for the Golden Star Press and
nailed him with the Atomic Lights Bomb for the 3 count.

Wonderful Dangerous Connection gets their first win as a team tonight against Kohei
Suwama and Joji Mazuka. Mazuka and Suwama just didn't gel very well as a team, and
it allowed WDC to use their superior teamwork to pick up the win.

Danger Kanayama and Tokyo DT faced off once again in the main event. This match was
especially important though, as if Kanayama was to win 3 straight he would be able to
choose his opponent from Wardogs to face him in the Hero of Big Battle title decision
match. Kanayama and DT both gave it their all, but in the end Kanayama was once again
victorious, and was quick to choose Masaaki Eda as his opponent. Eda, as well as the
fans where surprised by his decision, as everyone figured he would pick who he felt
was the weakest member of Wardogs so that he would have an easy time winning the belt.
The title match is scheduled to take place in 2 weeks on Big Battle's first ever PPV
special, BattlegroundPPV.

We'll have an in depth interview with both Kanayama and Eda next week so make sure to
tune in.
