5/4/88: HIGH VOLTAGE - WASHINGTON, D.C.

1)      Demolition (w/ Mr. Fuji) defeated Scott Casey & SD Jones after the Demolition Decapitation on Casey in 2:39. With Demolition officially being the number-one-contenders for the World Tag Team Titles, they kept their momentum going in a positive direction by picking apart Scott Casey & SD Jones.  Ax & Smash are like semis in that once they get going, you just can't seem to stop them.  That was the case here as Casey ate the Demolition Decapitation and was sent packing. ¾*

2)      "Mean" Gene Okerlund was backstage with Lex Luger for an interview.  Okerlund asked Luger if he's had time to consider the offer that Ric Flair had made him about joining the Horsemen.  Luger said he is still thinking about it and isn't in a position to make a decision.  The Total Package added that all he cared about right now was chopping that big tree One Man Gang down to size.

3)      Non-Title Match - Intercontinental champion Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated The Italian Stallion with the Rude Awakening in 22 seconds. Well, Rick Rude is certainly motivated.  After selecting a woman from the crowd to give a kiss to, Rude took no time in eliminating The Italian Stallion by hitting the Rude Awakening and getting the duke in just 22 seconds.  After the match, TERRY FUNK came out with a microphone and said that he wanted a match with Rick Rude.  The Ravishing One said that Funk has done nothing to earn the right to wrestle him, except for continually lose to Ted DiBiase.  Rude said he was feeling generous though and that if Funk won a match of his choosing next week, he would not only give him a match, but a match for the Intercontinental Title.  Funk said he would wrestle anybody and accepted the conditions, only to be told that his opponent will be ANDRE THE GIANT. *

4)      Dusty Rhodes, Rick Martel, & Koko B. Ware defeated Barry Horowitz, Brooklyn Brawler, & Iron Mike Sharpe when Rhodes pinned Horowitz after the Bionic Elbowdrop in 4:41. Much like the Horsemen a week ago, Dusty Rhodes and his team for King of the Ring were in 6-man tag team action.  Rick Martel & Koko B. Ware have agreed to join Dusty against the Horsemen, but as of now, a fourth team member hasn't been revealed.  The American Dream has remained tight lipped about it, but he definitely showed that he, Martel, & Koko make a formidable alliance.  They showed great teamwork in taking this win. ** 1/4

5)      Before his match, Bam Bam Bigelow caught up with Randy Savage & the lovely Elizabeth.  Bigelow said that he knew he and Savage haven't been on the best of terms recently, but he wanted to be the first to congratulate the Macho Man for qualifying for the King of the Ring last week.  Savage thanked Bigelow and wished him luck when he wrestles his qualifying match in a couple of weeks.

6)      Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Louie Spiccoli after a splash from the second turnbuckle in 3:49. This wasn't Bigelow's qualifying match, but the Beast From the East had to contend with Louie Spiccoli in this one.  Poor Spiccoli was completely overmatched and couldn't get much in terms of offense in, eventually being smashed with a splash from the second turnbuckle. ** ¾

7)      Animal defeated Virgil with the Powerslam in 4:39. This match was supposed to be Animal against Ted DiBiase, but when the Million Dollar Man was announced, instead all we got was Virgil.  Virgil grabbed the microphone and said that DiBiase wasn't there because the people didn't deserve to see him.  Virgil took his place, and suffered the onslaught of the Road Warrior.  Virgil got a little offense in when he took a couple shortcuts, but Animal just overwhelmed him and planted him with the Powerslam. ** ½

8)      We had an interview with Jimmy Hart, who was joined by the entire Hart Family.  Jimmy Hart said that the Hart Family would make their presence felt and they already have.  Hart said that Greg Valentine is in the King of the Ring and though no one is giving him a chance, he will find a way to win the tournament.  He also said that the Hart Foundation is well on their way to getting another crack at the World Tag Team Titles and when they do, the Hart Family will have gold.  He concluded with talk of the One Man Gang, his crown jewel.  He said that what OMG did to Lex Luger was just the start of the damage he can inflict on the UWF.  Next week he has his qualifying match for the King of the Ring against Hulk Hogan, and he will destroy the Hulkster.

9)      King of the Ring Qualifying Match - Andre the Giant (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Hawk with the Elbowdrop in 12:21. Our main event was for the fifth spot in the King of the Ring tournament, and try as he might, Hawk of the Road Warriors couldn't chop down Andre the Giant.  Hawk lasted longer than many would have, but in the end, he fell victim to Andre's giant Elbowdrop.  Andre moves onto the tournament and will wrestle The Ultimate Warrior in the quarterfinals. ** 1/4

5/6/88: SUPERSHOW - CHARLOTTE, NC

1)      Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, & Sid Vicious defeated Rick Martel, Koko B. Ware, & Bam Bam Bigelow when Blanchard pinned Martel after the Spike Piledriver in 9:18. Our big untelevised supershow kicked off with a huge six man tag team match which is a preview of King of the Ring with the Horsemen (minus Ric Flair), taking on Rick Martel, Koko B. Ware, & Bam Bam Bigelow.  Bigelow is not a part of the 8-man tag at the pay-per-view, but Dusty Rhodes will be challenging Ric Flair for the World Title in our main event.  Though the face contingent impressed, they just don't have the continuity of the Horsemen.  You don't have to like them, but no one works like a unit better than the Horsemen.  Rick Martel got caught with the Spike Piledriver from the Brainbusters, and that was all she wrote. ** ¾

2)      Randy Savage (w/ Elizabeth) defeated Ted DiBiase (w/ Virgil) by countout in 9:18. Ted DiBiase actually showed up for this show, but after his match with Randy Savage, he may wish he hadn't.  Both men are in the King of the ring tournament, and this could be a possible preview of the finals.  DiBiase did what he could to slow down the intense Macho Man, but Savage keeps coming at you and coming at you.  Eventually the Million Dollar Man had enough and walked out for a countout. ***

3)      Intercontinental Title Match - Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Terry Funk after a sunset flip in 7:10 to retain the title. Rick Rude & Terry Funk wrestled in the finals of the Intercontinental Title tournament back in January, which was won by Rude.  This was Funk's first opportunity to win the title, and with the budding rivalry between these two, this was going to be a good match.  Rude can be a hard hitter when he wants to, but he prefers to finesse when he can.  The Funker wasn't about to let that happen though as he punched Rude in the mouth early and often.  Rude got in his signature stuff, but for the most part, Funk's unorthodox brawling style kept him off balance and resulted in many nearfalls.  It would take a counter to a backdrop into a sunset flip and the aid of the feet on the ropes for Rude to pin Funk and escape with his title. **

4)      One Man Gang (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated Lex Luger with the 747 Splash in 6:04. This was Luger's first shot at redemption against One Man Gang, and it didn't go as smoothly as he would have liked.  Luger is a great natural specimen, but he is still very much a rookie.  He made the rookie mistake of coming at OMG a mile a minute, never turning down the throttle.  It led to One Man Gang taking a lot of offense early, but Luger tired himself out.  He wasn't able to recover, and despite a couple of desperation attacks, he succumbed to the 747 Splash and his first pinfall loss in the UWF. ½*

5)      World Tag Team Title Match - The British Bulldogs defeated The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart) when Smith pinned Neidhart after the Running Powerslam in 28:36. With all due respect to the other matches on this card, this one stole the show for certain.  In fact, in the short history of the UWF, this was the best wrestling match we have seen to date.  These two teams are no strangers to each other and that familiarity showed in this match.  The action never let up for nearly half an hour, and all four men were exhausted by the match's end.  It looked like the Hart Foundation would take the titles when they had Dynamite Kid set up for the Hart Attack, but Dynamite ducked out of it and Bret Hart flew out of the ring.  Dynamite tagged Davey Boy in the confusion and Smith planted Jim Neidhart with the Running Powerslam for the 3 count and a successful title defense.  Jimmy Hart was beside himself over the result, but his men have nothing to be ashamed of in this losing effort.  Both teams received a standing ovation for their efforts, and rightfully so.  Match of the year candidate. **** ¾

6)      Hulk Hogan & The Ultimate Warrior defeated Andre the Giant & Haku (w/ Bobby Heenan) when Hogan defeated Andre by disqualification in 8:24. This next match didn't have the technical wrestling as our last one, but it did have the drama as Hogan & Warrior teamed up for the first time to take on Andre the Giant & Haku of the Heenan Family.  Bobby Heenan has dubbed Andre & Haku together the Colossal Connection, and it's easy to see why.  Hogan & Warrior had their hands full, but they worked well as a team, leading to Andre deliberately getting himself disqualified when he locked Hogan in a choke and refused to release it.  Warrior jumped in to try to make the save, but was met with a chair to the back for his troubles.  Andre & Haku continued their assault, but when Hogan & Warrior mustered up their energy at the urging of the crowd, Heenan wisely got his men out of dodge in a hurry. -****1/2

7)      Demolition (w/ Mr. Fuji) defeated The Road Warriors when Ax pinned Hawk after the Demolition Decapitation in 13:17. This was a dangerous match for Ax & Smash to take on.  Since they are the number-one-contenders for the tag titles, if the Road Warriors were to beat them, Demolition risk losing their title shot.  Mr. Fuji wasn't going to let that happen though.  This was a slobberknocker for certain.  It wasn't pretty, but the crowd was into it as the two teams are very evening matched.  Hawk & Animal were poised to knock Demolition down the ladder when they had Smash up for the Doomsday Device, but Mr. Fuji tripped Hawk with his cane, causing him to crotch on the top rope.  Ax jumped in and nailed Animal in the back before tossing him to the outside  They quickly capitalized with the Demolition Decapitation and escaped Charlotte with a victory. ***

8)      World Title Match - Dusty Rhodes defeated Ric Flair by countout in 35:32.  Flair retains the title. Our main event was for the World Title.  Dusty Rhodes can get his hands on Ric Flair at King of the Ring in the 8-man tag team match, but he could do so as the World champion if he could beat Flair tonight.  Despite this match being in "Flair Country," the fan support was firmly behind the American Dream.  For over 30 minutes, these two heated rivals went at it like two men that hate each other should.  By the end of the match, the Nature Boy was wearing the proverbial crimson mask.  Flair got his licks in though, and did a lot of damage to Rhodes' leg.  He even got the Figure-Four Leglock on at one point, but Rhodes escaped by rolling over to his stomach to put the pressure on Flair.  In the end, Flair took the easy way out and walked out for the countout, losing the match but retaining the title.  Rhodes would get the last laugh though as he went after Flair, threw him back in the ring, and nailed him with the Bionic Elbowdrop much to send the fans home happy. *** ½

5/11/88: HIGH VOLTAGE - GREENVILLE, SC

1)      Non-Title Match - World champion Ric Flair defeated The Italian Stallion with the Figure-Four Leglock in 3:45. The show opened with our World champion in a non-title match, picking up a victory over The Italian Stallion with his patented Figure-Four Leglock.  The World champion keeps rolling as he prepares his men for the 8-man tag team contest at King of the Ring. ** 1/4

2)      As we saw a couple weeks ago, we saw the promo package indicating that THE TEXAS TORNADO will debut in two weeks time.  Kerry Von Erich is a well established star and is expected to do big things in the UWF.

3)      Non-Title Match - World Tag Team champions The British Bulldogs defeated The Conquistadors when Dynamite pinned #1 with a flying headbutt in 2:31. Well on the bright side for the Conquistadors, at least it wasn't #2 that got pinned this time.  However, they just couldn't match up against the reigning World Tag Team champions.  The running powerslam/flying headbutt combo put this one in the books as the Bulldogs continue their collision course with Demolition at King of the Ring. ** ¾

4)      Backstage with Bobby Heenan, he gave a promo on behalf of the also present HAKU saying that in the King of the Ring qualifier next week, the Tongan beast will make short work of Bam Bam Bigelow and join Andre the Giant in the King of the Ring tournament.

5)      Terry Funk defeated Andre the Giant (w/ Bobby Heenan) by disqualification in 7:31.  Rick Rude was on commentary for this match, joining Gorilla Monsoon & Jesse Ventura as Terry Funk took on Andre the Giant.  Rude reminded everyone that he was a man of his word and said if Funk could somehow win this match, he would give him a shot at the Intercontinental Title at King of the Ring.  Rude also got to pick the opponent, so it's not surprising that he chose fellow Heenan Family member Andre.  Funk did what he could to neutralize the Giant's phenomenal size, but he was able to prolong that success.  Eventually Andre locked on a chokehold and simply refused to let go.  Referee Earl Hebner did everything he could to get Andre to let go, but once the Giant has his mind made up, you're not going to change it.  The ref had no choice but to call this one a disqualification.  Andre held the choke for over 3 minutes and Funk had to be helped to the back.  Rude laughed and said that if Funk could make it, he would gladly give him the title shot at King of the Ring. -1/4*

6)      Sid Vicious (w/ The Brainbusters) defeated Koko B. Ware (w/ Dusty Rhodes & Rick Martel) after reversing the Ghostbuster into a cross-body block in 6:10. This match is a preview match for King of the Ring.  This was a contrast of styles as Koko B. Ware is a speed guy and utilizes the stick-and-move philosophy while Sid would rather just kick your teeth in and drive you through the mat.  Sid underestimated Koko and thought he would walk through this with ease, but Koko showed great toughness in staying with Sid despite the beating he was taking.  Koko fought back and even had Sid up for the Ghostbuster, but Sid turned it over into a cross-body block, driving the air out of Ware's lungs to get the pin.  Dusty Rhodes & Rick Martel jumped in the ring before the Horsemen could try anything. *** 1/4

7)      Ted DiBiase and his servant Virgil came out for an interview to talk about the Million Dollar Man's participation in the King of the Ring tournament and how he will be victorious.  DiBiase then demanded that Virgil find someone in the audience to come up and shine his shoes, and if they did a good job, he'd give them $100.  Before that could happen though, THE ROAD WARRIORS came down to the ring.  Animal was furious that DiBiase didn't show up last week and made Virgil wrestle instead, calling DiBiase a coward.  Hawk challenged DiBiase and Virgil to a tag team match on High Voltage.

8)      Randy Savage (w/ Elizabeth) defeated "Iron" Mike Sharpe with the Flying Elbowdrop in 4:41. Not much of a challenge for the Macho Man in this one.  "Iron" Mike Sharpe huffed and puffed a lot, but couldn't figure out a way to beat the Madness as he ate the Flying Elbowdrop and a loss. ** ¾

9)      King of the Ring Qualifying Match - Hulk Hogan defeated One Man Gang (w/ Jimmy Hart) by disqualification in 15:02. Our main event featured Hogan in his toughest match to date as he wrestled the thus far unstoppable monster One Man Gang.  Hulk Hogan is a superstar, no doubt about it, but we haven't seen him dominated to this extent in the UWF thus far.  But if Hogan is anything, it's a fighter, and he kept fighting back again and again.  Despite having his ribs worked over considerably during the match, Hogan tried to bodyslam OMG late, but before he could, Gang clubbed Hogan across the back.  He then demanded that Jimmy Hart give him the megaphone.  Hart was reluctant at first not wanting OMG to lose the match, but when OMG shouted, Hart quickly gave it to him.  The Gang took the megaphone and busted Hogan in the head with it causing the disqualification.  One Man Gang continued the assault until LEX LUGER ran out and attacked OMG, knocking him out of the ring with a big clothesline.  OMG wanted back in the ring, but officials held him back as the show went off the air. * 1/4

He's a guy I want to use, surely.  But for the first time in awhile, this is a circuit I'm doing where I actually listen when TNM tells me wrestlers don't want to work for me right now, hence no Muta, Sting, Steamboat, Windham, etc.  So, let's hope my TNM is nice. :)

5/18/88: HIGH VOLTAGE - MEMPHIS, TN

1)      Our show kicked off this week with Intercontinental champion "Ravishing" Rick Rude coming out for an interview, along with his manager Bobby "the Brain" Heenan.  After his normal routine of gyrating and declaring himself the sexiest man on the planet, attention turned to Terry Funk.  Rude said that he is a man of his word, and he promised Funk a title shot if he could beat an opponent of his choosing.  That man was Andre the Giant, and Funk did beat him by disqualification.  Rude said that's good enough for him, and if Funk can make it to King of the Ring, he will gladly grant him a shot at the IC Title.

2)      The Hart Foundation (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated Pez Whatley & Scott Casey when Hart pinned Whatley after an elbowdrop from the second turnbuckle in 4:01. Tag team action as the Hart Foundation continue their path to another tag title shot with an impressive victory to kick off the wrestling action.  Pez Whatley & Scott Casey offered little resistance as a Bret Hart second rope elbowdrop  was enough to put this one in the win column for Jimmy Hart's tag team specialists. *** 1/4

3)      Davey Boy Smith defeated Smash (w/ Mr. Fuji) by disqualification in 9:13. In a bit of a preview of the World Tag Team Title match at King of the Ring, Davey Boy Smith took on Smash.  President Harley Race banned Dynamite Kid & Ax from ringside to help ensure this match would stay as clean as possible.  It did that for the majority of the match.  That is until the end when Smash took Mr. Fuji's cane and nailed Smith in the ribs with it.  The disqualification was called for, but I don't think Fuji cared as Smash continually brutalized Smith with the cane until help came in the form of the officials.  Davey Boy's ribs are said to be in bad shape and he will need to take care of them as we prepare for King of the Ring. ** ½

4)      The final promo for the debut of the Texas Tornado aired.  He will make his in-ring debut a week from now as he will wrestle in the final King of the Ring qualifying match.

5)      Rick Martel (w/ Dusty Rhodes & Koko B. Ware) defeated Tully Blanchard (w/ Arn Anderson & Sid Vicious) after a dropkick in 52 seconds. Tully Blanchard will learn not to be cocky after this one.  Right from the ring introductions, Blanchard's mouth was running, telling Martel he was nothing and that the Horsemen owned him.  After Tully got the upperhand on Martel after the first exchange, he took time to play to the crowd.  When he turned his attentions back to Martel, he caught a dropkick right to the mush!  The surprise of the move was enough for Martel to pin his shoulders to the mat and get the win in under a minute!  Arn Anderson & Sid Vicious jumped in the ring but Martel was out of there to celebrate with Dusty Rhodes & Koko B. Ware. *

6)      Greg Valentine (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated Brooklyn Brawler with the Figure-Four Leglock in 3:06. The Hammer continues to get himself ready for the King of the Ring with this victory over the rough and tough Brooklyn Brawler.  He's going to need all the momentum he can get as he will meet Hulk Hogan in the first round. ** ¾

7)      Lex Luger defeated Louie Spicolli with the Torture Rack in 1:08. As Lex Luger was coming to the ring, ONE MAN GANG & JIMMY HART did an insert promo.  Gang vowed revenge on Luger for getting involved last week and preventing him from injuring Hulk Hogan.  If Luger was at all concerned with these threats, he didn't show it as he absolutely decimated Louie Spicolli, causing him to submit in the Torture Rack. * ¾

8)      THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR did an interview from the locker room area, and it was... interesting to say the least.  Warrior talked about (we think) how he was glad he would get to wrestle Andre the Giant at King of the Ring and with the help of the Warriors, would pick the Giant up and slam him through the ring.

9)      King of the Ring Qualifying Match - Haku (w/ Bobby Heenan) defeated Bam Bam Bigelow with the Savate Kick in 13:28. Our main event was our next to last King of the Ring qualifier with Bam Bam Bigelow taking on Haku of the Heenan Family.  As the match started, we saw that RANDY SAVAGE was watching from a monitor in the back as he would take on the winner.  A great power match between these two.  Bam Bam was in control near the end, fighting through Haku's various nerve holds.  Bigelow had Haku down with a bodyslam and climbed to the top for his Flying Headbutt finisher when Heenan jumped on the apron and grabbed his ankle.  This brought out the Macho Man who pulled Heenan off the apron and to the floor.  After intimidating him, Savage jumped on the apron himself to argue with the referee about why a DQ wasn't called for.  This unintentionally distracted the ref which allowed Haku to hit Bigelow with a low blow and the Savate Kick.  The ref turned to see Haku making the pin, and just like that, Haku is in the tournament.  The show went off the air with Savage trying to explain to Bigelow what happened. *** ¾

5/25/88: HIGH VOLTAGE - NASHVILLE, TN

1)      The Road Warriors defeated Ted DiBiase & Virgil when Hawk pinned DiBiase after a flying shoulderblock in 4:42. Our opening match came as a result of a challenge made by The Road Warriors.  Ted DiBiase was scheduled to wrestle Animal on May 4, but the Million Dollar Man was nowhere to be found and Virgil had to take his place.  Animal accused DiBiase of being a coward and thus this match was set up.  As crafty as DiBiase is as a singles competitor and as good as Virgil works as his bodyguard to help him win matches, as a team they couldn't match up against the assault of Hawk & Animal.  DiBiase ate a face full of flying shoulderblock and took the fall as the Road Warriors were victorious. ***

2)      RANDY SAVAGE and BAM BAM BIGELOW were seen arguing backstage, Bigelow still mad that Savage inadvertently distracted the referee last week and thus, costing Bigelow his shot to be in the King of the Ring tournament.  As the argument became more intense, ELIZABETH stepped in and separated the two, getting them to then shake hands (although they did so begrudgingly).  It seems for now these two friends are still on the same page, but they need to work out these differences soon if they're going to co-exist.

3)      Greg Valentine (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated SD Jones with the Figure-Four Leglock in 2:09. The Hammer just keeps on winning as he picked up a submission win over SD Jones.  Valentine looked good, although he did appear to tweak his ankle during the match.  He has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle but isn't expected to miss any time. ½*

4)      Lex Luger was with "Mean" Gene Okerlund, and Luger wanted to talk about One Man Gang.  He said he heard what OMG had said last week, and that the Total Package wanted a piece of the Gang too.  He laid down the challenge for a match at King of the Ring.  We have since learned that OMG accepted, so we will see Lex Luger vs. One Man Gang on pay-per-view!

5)      Ax (w/ Mr. Fuji) defeated Dynamite Kid after a swinging neckbreaker in 7:19. Ax picked up a huge victory in this singles match against one-half of the World Tag Team champions, Dynamite Kid.  Once again as was the case for the Davey Boy Smith/Smash match last week, tag partners were banned from ringside for this match.  Dynamite used his superior speed throughout much of this match, but ultimately when Ax got a hold of him, that was all she wrote as a massive swinging neckbreaker put Dynamite down and out. ** ¾

6)      King of the Ring Qualifying Match - Kerry Von Erich defeated Jim Neidhart (w/ Jimmy Hart) by disqualification in 6:09. We had the long-awaited debut of "The Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich as he took part in the final tournament qualifying match against Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart of the Hart Foundation.  Neidhart was not impressed by all the hype that Von Erich had been getting and wanted to ruin his debut.  Von Erich showed that he could take a licking and keep on ticking as the Anvil pounded him into the mat for much of this match.  The Tornado fought back and nailed the Tornado Punch which looked to have knocked Neidhart out, but we won't know for sure if he would have gotten the pin as BRET HART ran in and attacked Von Erich, leading to the DQ.  The Hart Foundation were on the 2-on-1 attack, but Von Erich fought back by ducking under a double clothesline and hitting one of his own, sending both men retreating. * ¾

7)      Bobby Heenan had his entire Family (Andre the Giant, Haku, & Intercontinental champion Rick Rude) back with him for an interview.  He said that King of the Ring was going to be a huge night for the Family.  He started with Haku, putting over his win over Bam Bam Bigelow.  He moved onto Rude, saying that he is proving to be a dominant IC champion and that Terry Funk's injury prone self will not be able to dethrone the champ.  Finally he spoke of Andre, who will take on The Ultimate Warrior in the first round of the tournament.  Heenan got very serious when he talked about how Warrior has been a thorn in his side and nothing will make him happier than watching Andre crush the Warrior and teach him that no one messes with the Heenan Family.

8)      The Ultimate Warrior defeated "Iron" Mike Sharpe with the Big Splash in 1:40. Speaking of the Warrior, he continued his undefeated ways by decimating "Iron" Mike Sharpe.  With how dominant he has been since his debut, I can't see how he's not going to win the King of the Ring tournament. -*

9)      Before we got to the main event, we had an interview with HULK HOGAN, who will also be in the tournament on June 12.  The Hulkster said he is fired up about what's going on in the UWF right now, saying he just found that in next week's main event, he will get to team with Lex Luger to take on One Man Gang and his KOTR opponent, Greg Valentine.  He went on to say with the power of the Hulkamaniacs, he will go on to win the tournament.  At this point, World champion RIC FLAIR interrupted the interview.  Flair mockingly wished Hogan luck in the tournament, but reminded Hogan that no matter how many tournaments he wins, one thing he isn't is the World champion, and he never will be.  Flair smiled, pointed to the title, and wooed in the Hulkster's face before leaving Hogan fuming.

10)      Dusty Rhodes (w/ Koko B. Ware & Rick Martel) pinned Arn Anderson (w/ Sid Vicious & Tully Blanchard) with the Bionic Elbowdrop in 9:30. Main event time with Dusty Rhodes taking on Arn Anderson.  The Enforcer's intent for this match was to attack Dusty's leg, and he did this quite effectively.  It's no secret that the American Dream is carrying a little extra weight already, so any damage to his legs bears extra trouble.  Dusty is a brawler though and fought back with everything he had.  Battling through tremendous pain and being motivated by his partners Rick Martel & Koko B. Ware, Rhodes nailed the Bionic Elbowdrop for the win.  At this point, Sid & Blanchard got involved in a brawl with Koko & Martel, which allowed RIC FLAIR to sneak into the ring and lock Dusty in the Figure-Four Leglock!  He kept the hold on for several minutes before officials finally broke it up. *** 1/4
