WWF - JANUARY 1992

Revolution has hit the world of professional wrestling as Vince McMahon, disgruntled with the way the wrestling business was going, has sold the WWF to billionaire Ian Clark!

Clark's first move was to combine the roles of owner, head booker and chairman, naming himself WWF President!

All the former WWF titles have been vacated.

Clark has promised to bring back some great former WWF stars and big signings would follow, whether it be from the rival WCW, Japan or wherever! Anyone not up to scratch will not have their contracts renewed!

The 1992 Royal Rumble winner will also win the WWF World Heavyweight Title!

A new pay per view will take place in June of each year. King of the Ring will feature an 8 man one night tournament (with preceding qualifying matches), to determine an annual King of the Ring!

Clark has decided that in addition to the 5 pay per view events, there will also be monthly editions of "Saturday Nights Main Event" featuring more matches than the previous format (most of the time anyway!).  There will also be special supershows and tours to places like Europe and Japan!

Clark also announced the WWF InterContinental Title Tournament would start when the new weekly T.V. show started. The InterContinental Title Tournament would be a straightforward 16 man tournament. The Tag Title Tournament would be a round robin event, with a twist.  As soon as a team loses two matches, they are out of contention. The World Tag Team Title Tournament will start at the 1992 Royal Rumble.

Finally, Clark announced that in a change from historic wrestling booking, where generally a face would take on a heel, particularly in title matches, the new WWF would be different, if someone or a team genuinely deserved a title shot, they would be granted it, regardless of whether they were face or heel.
