NAWA Gold Rush 2005...The Preview

The clock ticks down to WrestleClash IV on August 14th 2005, with only two more big NAWA Pay Per View events between now and then. The next stop on the road to WrestleClash IV is May 15th for Gold Rush. For the fourth year in a row, the NAWA holds the Gold Rush Tournament. In 2002 Scott Hall won, in 2003 Harry Harris was the winner, and in 2004 Christopher Daniels was the Gold Rush Champion. Who will win the honor this year and a main event against the NAWA World Champion June 19th at Night of the Rogues? Let's take a look at the tournament.

Then of course, we need to determine who will be facing the winner of the Gold Rush Tournament come Night of the Rogues. Stylish has been riding high ever since winning the NAWA World Title over Ron Waterman at Reality Check but one bump in the road has to be against the Gambler. The Gambler has sure come a long way in the past three years, going from NAWA Jobber Champion to the number one contender to the richest prize in the game, the NAWA World Title.  Despite a knee injury, the Gambler fought back and scored a series of victories over top NAWA talent, including Miles Stylish in a non title match. Stylish wants to avenge that loss but all it will take is one more match, one more victory, and the Gambler is the NAWA World Champion. What will happen? Tune into Gold Rush to find out the answers.

Prediction:

NAWA Television Championship Match:
Jerry Lynn vs. Sederick Skyhawk(c)(w/Candace Sweet, Bruno the Bodyguard, Mr. Fernando, and Richard Ramos Ricardo, Attorney At Law)

Sederick Skyhawk's current bragging about his reign as NAWA Television Champion has gotten under the skin of one Jerry Lynn. Lynn has that belt longer than anyone else in the title's three year history, for nine months and wants to shut Skyhawk up once and for all, by taking that belt away from him. Just this past week on Glory, Jerry Lynn punched out Sederick Syhawk backstage when Skyhawk got in his place. In revenge, Skyhawk got involved in Lynn's bid in to advance in the Gold Rush Tournament, costing him the match against Ron Waterman. Tonight on Pay Per View, these two men battle for the NAWA Television Championship.

Prediction

NAWA World Tag Team Title Match:
Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley vs. The Archangels of Anarchy(Armageddon and Destruction)(c)(w/Desdomia)

The history between these two teams begins last July at Battlequest, where Bentley and Sabin eliminated The Archangels from the tag team turmoil match. The Archangels returned the favor by costing Sabin and Bentley the final round of the match. The two teams then competed in a match at WrestleClash III where Sabin and Bentley lost. The feud picked back up earlier in the year, where Bentley and Sabin became the number one contenders for the NAWA World Tag Team Titles, but fell short in beating the Archangels again at Blinded By Fury 2005. The Archangels have been occupied with the Rottweilers recently, but Sabin and Bentley have once again worked their way back to the number one contendership status, beating Simon Diamond and C.W. Anderson in a best of three series. Sabin and Bentley have their sights the titles that have eluded them but their ability to win the titles might have been compromised due to the injured ribs of Bentley at the hands of the Archangels of Anarchy. The same injury that might have played a roll in their loss to the Rottweilers on Glory. Regardless, the NAWA World Tag Team Titles will be on the line at Gold Rush between these two great teams.
