How does Push weigh things exactly?

AnubisPosted on 06/22/06 at 22:08:22

Here is the basic question.  If I do not check "Strict Pushes", how much weight is the Push value given when determining simmed results?

A bit deeper, though, and the question works kinda like this.  What are the mechanics of the Push value?  How is Push weighed into simmed results both with and without "Strict Pushes" checked?  Does Push have no weight if "Strict Pushes" is not checked, or does it just get less weight?

I absolutely want to know the answer to this question, too. I don't know whether I should have Strict Push Enforced or not, so I'd like to hear what the gurus say...!

I can't give a mathematical answer... but I know when I didn't have strict pushes on I had a 20 push beat an 80 push - I highly doubt that would happen with strict pushes on.

Push will also effect match rating.  For instance, if you have a guy you push as a jobber but he's wonderful in the ring, like let's say Jamie Noble, if his push his low, it'll be harder for the crowd to get too behind him or for him to pull in ***** matches.  Because your place on the card dictates how you're viewed.  So Hogan's matches seem a little better because the crowd is eating up whatever he does and Noble's matches seem a little worse because the fans could care less... does that make sense?

This is not correct Ryan. I tested this with Bryan Danielson and Chris Benoit. I first ran a match where both had 100 Push, and booked the match to have Danielson win by Cattle Mutilation after 15 minutes. Rating: ****.

I then tried again with 5 push. ****1/2.

I tried the same with two horrid workers, and the ratings did get quite similar.

It's gradual, if I remember correctly.  If you just ran a test circuit with nothing previous, it will sway things.  Also, booking the match sways things.  For instance, if you force it to go 15 minutes, they may have gotten tons of nearfalls and finishers in before that, hence the boost in rating.

You may very well be correct regardless, but that test doesn't necessarily prove it.

Well I figured out the dynamics of match ratings a long time ago. From my circuits, I never saw Push have any effect on match ratings. The key stats for match ratings are Work Rate and Charisma.  If Push has any effect at all, it's not at all noticable, as I can regularly churn out ***** matches from people with 1 Push as long as they have high enough Work Rate and Charisma (generally you need around 90+, depending on heat values).

The only thing Stamina does is give a worker "hit points", which is what determines how many moves you can take before getting pinned.

The only thing I can't figure out is what effect Push has on who wins if you don't have "Strict Pushes" checked. That's what I'm looking for here. You see, in that circuit I mentioned I may be creating, if people would rather it not be booked, I want it to be like "shootfighting" in a way, if at all possible, but that can only happen if "Strict Pushes" not being checked negates the effect Push has on who wins or loses.

as for the test circuit, you have to consider that TNM learns from your booking style and tweaks things going forward based on such.

I remembered this from a long time ago:

http://www.tnm7.de/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=2;action=display;num=1046718699

Currently, the promotion I'm running has strict pushes turned on, with Oliver's suggested "gaps" between levels. I break it down like this:

6 main event wrestlers with pushes of 100, 95, and 90 (one each for 3 faces, 3 heels)

16 midcard wrestlers with 60 push for all, except 1 "upper midcard" heel and face, who both get pushes of 70.  SOMETIMES, a mid carder will beat a main eventer, but it's rare.  Of course, the 70 push midcarder has the best chance of beating the 90 push main eventer.

8 tag teams with a 40 push for all except for my top face and heel teams, who get a push of 50.

It works quite well.
