The TNM Members ChampPosted on 07/31/08 at 05:22:22

This circuit will be very similar to Rick's Squared Circle Wrestling. I'm using the same format for the most part and even using Brad Armstrong. :-)

The roster will be comprised of wrestlers from 1989 in the NWA/Jim Crockett Promotions. The champions were decided arbitrarily because I wanted the promotion to start off with these wrestlers as champions to build on future storylines. Also, you'll see some similarities to 1989 NWA with certain storylines and wrestler debuts. I want to build on how the NWA went in 1989 and change a few things around, especially late in the year.

Being from the mid-atlantic area, I'm biased towards anything Jim Crockett Promotions or NWA (obvious from my WWE forum postings) so this should be a fun circuit to run.

Gordon Solie: Brad Armstrong picks up the win here on the inaugural edition of NWA Main Event Wrestling on the Superstation. Let's see how he did it.

Jim Ross: Brad Armstrong, the son of the legendary Bullet Bob Armstrong, caught George South where he wanted him: in a position where he could execute the Russian Legsweep.

[Brad Armstrong walks up to the podium and shakes hands with Jim Ross.]

Jim Ross: Welcome to the new home of the National Wrestling Alliance on the Superstation.

Brad Armstrong: Mr. Ross, it's a pleasure to be here and I would like to also thank the folks at Turner for the new surroundings here.

Jim Ross: Lately, Brad, you've been going at it with the maniacal Kevin Sullivan as of late. Any comments on how that's going for you?

Brad Armstrong: Mr. Ross, I think maniacal isn't the word I'd use for Kevin Sullivan. More like deranged, delusional, and a little on the creepy side. He has no care for his well-being and certainly none for his opponent's. Lately, Kevin Sullivan has been knocking on the proud name of the Armstrongs. Kevin Sullivan even had the audacity to say that the Armstrong boys were an embarrassment to Bullet Bob. Let me tell you something, Kevin Sullivan! You are in no position to be calling me or any of my brothers an embarrassment to the Armstrong name. I have some matches signed against Kevin Sullivan this week and I know sure well that I'm going try my hardest to make him pay for trying to belittle the Armstrong name.

Jim Ross: Brad Armstrong and Kevin Sullivan will be in action tonight in Baltimore. That one could get out of hand. Fans, we'll be back after this time out.

[COMMERCIAL BREAK]

After the commercial break, Paul Lee and Randy Hogan are already in the ring awaiting their opponents. As soon as "Iron Man" blares across the speakers, the fans in the studio erupt as it means none other than Animal and Hawk, the mighty Road Warriors, would be making their way to the ring.

[Paul Ellering interfered against Paul Lee.]

Gordon Solie: This match was the very definition of total domination over your opponents, Jim Ross. The Road Warriors look unstoppable in my opinion.

Jim Ross: Indeed they are, Gordon. Here we see Animal hoist Paul Lee up into position for Hawk to hit the Doomsday Device for the win. Paul Ellering, your men looked like they were on a mission tonight.

Paul Ellering: They were most certainly on a mission, Jim Ross. A mission to seek and destroy the competition! Give credit to Randy Hogan and Paul Lee. At least they faced Animal and Hawk and took their beating like men. The same can't be said for the NWA World Tag Team Champions.

Animal: That's right, Paul! You know something, I'm sick and tired of Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard dodging us and avoiding our challenge for those World Tag Team Titles. Those belts should be around our waists. Tell 'em, Hawk.

Hawk: Weeeeeeelll! I think we all know that Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard are nothing but no good, yellow cowards! They know we're after them and it's only a matter of time before we take what is ours. We want the NWA World Tag Team Titles!

Jim Ross: This week, Paul, The Road Warriors are signed to face the champions Anderson and Blanchard in a series of matches. Could this be the week?

Paul Ellering: I'm 100% confident in our chances, Jim Ross. So confident in fact that I will guarantee to you and everyone out in TV Land that The Road Warriors will defeat Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard for the NWA World Tag Team Titles.

Hawk: Bank on it!

Jim Ross: That is quite the development. Paul Ellering has guaranteed victory this week for The Road Warriors and with it, the NWA World Tag Team Titles. We have to take another commercial break, but stay tuned because we will be hearing from the illustrious NWA World Heavyweight Champion, the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

[Commercial Break.]

After the commercial break, Jim Ross and Gordon Solie are standing at the podium.

Gordon Solie: Welcome back to the Superstation and the NWA. Recently, if you were able to join us on pay per view for Starrcade, you witnessed one of the greatest matches in recent memory as Lex Luger challenged Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. The man referred to as "The Total Package" once again came very close to winning the NWA World Heavyweight Championship but thanks to the aide of a steel chair and the use of the ropes for leverage, Ric Flair once again retained his championship.

Jim Ross: You have to believe that Lex Luger has the number of Ric Flair. It can only be a matter of time before Lex Luger defeats Ric Flair for the richest prize of them all in the NWA World Heavyweight Title. However, Gordon, we received some pre-taped comments from Ric Flair that might put a wrench in Lex Luger's plans. Let's go to that footage.

[Pre-taped comments from Ric Flair.]

Ric Flair: They said that my time as NWA World Heavyweight Champion would be coming to an end at the Clash of the Champions when I faced Sting. They went on to declare that there would be no way that yours truly could possibly get out of Baltimore, Maryland as the World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion against Lex Luger. Then, they finally said at the biggest event of them all, Starrcade, that Lex Luger would without a shadow of a doubt, defeat me to usher in a new era for the National Wrestling Alliance. You know what? I would like to know who "they" were because I would get in each and everyone of their faces and say...Wooooooo!!! Lex, don't get me wrong, pal. You might very well be the future of our sport. You're big and bad. But you can't claim to be the man until you have this [holds up the big gold belt]. In 1988, you had your opportunities but you couldn't do it. I'm standing here today, looking right at you to say that it's over! No more chances! Lex Luger, you've had your last title match against me! As long as I am the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, you will never have another match against me. Woooo!!!

[Afterwards, we go back to Jim Ross and Gordon Solie, who are both shaking their heads at the latest development.]

Jim Ross: Gordon, I've gone on record as stating that I believe Ric Flair is the greatest NWA World Heavyweight Champion in history. However, for a man that claims to be a fighting champion, to deny Lex Luger a fair and square opportunity is just plain wrong!

Gordon Solie: Ric Flair is the dirtiest player in the game, but he is also one of the smartest. He's held that title longer than anyone in recent memory. I'm just not sure that Ric Flair can dictate who he will and will not wrestle.

Jim Ross: Hopefully we will get more information on this, but after this commercial break, we'll be seeing Lex Luger in action.

[Commercial break.]

After the commercial break, Agent Steele is already in the ring as he awaits his opponent, Lex Luger.

Rating: ** 3/4

Gordon Solie: Lex Luger rebounds nicely after his loss at Starrcade by defeating Agent Steele.

Jim Ross: Lex Luger made short work of the masked man Agent Steele and put the match away when he executed the Torture Rack submission. It looks like Lex Luger is walking over here to the podium. Lex, if you don't mind, I'd just like to get a few words from you.

Lex Luger: No problem, Jim.

Jim Ross: I think it is safe to say that 1988 was really your break out year in the National Wrestling Alliance. You got out of the shadows of the Four Horsemen and really made a name for yourself to become a role model for all these fans. In Baltimore, at The Great American Bash, because of a technicality, you did not walk out as the champion. At Starrcade, once again Ric Flair found a way to walk out still as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. The one thing I have to make note of fans is that this man hasn't whined and complained over spilt milk. He's not making excuses. He's continuing to dedicate himself to his goals. However, I'm sure you heard the comments Ric Flair made about you and any future title shots.

Lex Luger: Well, first of all Jim Ross, thank you for the nice words. If I stood here and complained about what should've happened, I wouldn't be much of a role model. The past is the past and there is nothing I can do about that. I'll let the past speak for itself. As far as the future is concerned, Ric, what kind of champion are you? What kind of champion would deny someone an opportunity if they truly felt they were the best? You see Jim Ross, I want that NWA World Heavyweight Title not just because I want to be the best but because I want all these fans to have a champion they can look up to and respect. If I was the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, you wouldn't see me dodging challenges. I'd put this belt up against any and all challengers. Ric Flair, you can hide from me all you want. You can even deny me title shots. But let me tell you something right here and now, Nature Boy. You know that I have your number. It's only a matter of time before I am going to beat you for that belt.

Jim Ross: There you have it ladies and gentlemen. Lex Luger is moving forward but you have to wonder how much longer Ric Flair can continue to avoid Lex Luger's challenges. We'll be back after this commercial break.

[Commercial break.]

Gordon Solie: The World Tag Team Champions continue to showcase why they are the reigning champions with another impressive victory here.

Jim Ross: These two work so well as a team. They've been champions for a very long time but for how much longer. James J. Dillon, bring your men on in here. I'm sure you heard what Paul Ellering and The Road Warriors had to say earlier on in the program.

James J. Dillon: It's a new year and we can still expect to see Paul Ellering insert his foot in his mouth. The Road Warriors can talk tough but there's a big difference between them and Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. These two [pointing at Anderson and Blanchard] are the NWA World Tag Team Champions and they have gold around their waists to prove it. They are the best tag team in professional wrestling.

Arn Anderson: I'm so sick and tired of hearing The Road Warriors complain about everything, Jim Ross. They think just because they are big and bad that it somehow makes them worthy of being World Tag Team Champions. I just don't see it happening. It takes a lot more than brawn and brute power to win championships.

Tully Blanchard: Arn, well said. Animal and Hawk, we've been up and down the roads with you on many occassions but yet we still manage to walk out as your NWA World Tag Team Champions. Just like Ric Flair, we've been told our time is up as champs and that it's time to move out of the way for the next big thing in professional wrestling. Yet each and every time, and you know it must be a Four Horsemen trait, because each and every time, we come out holding the gold belts.

Jim Ross: What about the guarantee earlier from Paul Ellering? He thinks The Road Warriors will win those titles at some point during the next week.

Tully Blanchard: Let me take this one, guys. I heard Paul Ellering's guarantee and I don't know about you J.J. or you Arn, but I took it as an insult. How dare Paul Ellering guarantee victory over us for these belts? Well you know something Jim Ross, I can make a guarantee too. How about this Arn, how about we guarantee that if we should be defeated by The Road Warriors and as a result we lose the NWA World Tag Team Titles, we'll leave the National Wrestling Alliance on the spot.

James J. Dillon: I don't know if we need to go that far, Tully...

Tully Blanchard: Hear me out, J.J. If we should deny The Road Warriors of these titles the entire week, much like Lex Luger never getting another title shot against Ric Flair, so too will The Road Warriors never receive another title shot as long as Arn and I are the champions.

James J. Dillon: Do you two realize that if you should lose those titles and are bound contractually to leave the NWA, The Four Horsemen will be down to two members? Half of my earnings will be cut in half!

Arn Anderson: Look, J.J., we all know the stakes are high but all the Four Horsemen have operated at their best when the pressure was high. Tully and I are putting a lot on the line, but so too will The Road Warriors. We know we're the best...

Tully Blanchard: ...and we know we can beat The Road Warriors and keep them away from the titles.

James J. Dillon: Fine! I'll have the contracts re-worded and add those stipulations. But don't let it be said I didn't warn you two!

[Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and James J. Dillon leave the set.]

Jim Ross: What a shocking development! Fans, we'll be right back with our television main event.

[Commercial break.]

After the commercial break, Jim Ross is standing by with "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert.

Jim Ross: I'm here with "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert, who in a few short moments will be challenging the NWA World Television Champion Mike Rotunda. There's a ten minute time limit on Television Title matches by rule of the NWA. Do you think you can dethrone the champ?

Eddie Gilbert: I think I have as good a chance as anyone, Jim Ross. You know, recently I've had some issues with the United States Heavyweight Champion Barry Windham and I took him to the limit. I've got a lot of confidence now off of that and I'm hoping to win the World Television Title for all these great fans.

Jim Ross: Alright, good luck Eddie. Fans, let's go to the ring.

Gordon Solie: This match ends in a disqualification after U.S. Heavyweight Champion Barry Windham involves himself in the match, attacking Eddie Gilbert.

Jim Ross: But it doesn't look like Barry Windham is done with Eddie Gilbert. Barry picks him up and puts him on the top turnbuckle and it looks like he is going for the Superplex. He has him in position and he delivers Eddie Gilbert hard to the mat.

Gordon Solie: Barry Windham is leaving the ring thankfully.

Jim Ross: He's grabbing a steel chair. Barry, what's the meaning of this? Stop it! He's going back into the ring and it looks like he is going to use the chair on Eddie Gilbert. Wait! There's Lex Luger and Sting! Barry Windham drops the chair and he's getting out of Dodge quickly. Fans, we're just about out of time. We'll see you at the arenas until next time!
