The relaunch of ECW in 2006

The TNM Members ChampPosted on 03/09/08 at 21:14:38

I've tried a few circuits that focused on the relaunch of ECW back in June 2006. This time, I decided to base the relaunch of ECW on the premise given by Gabe Sapolsky, head booker of the Ring of Honor promotion, from Kayfabe Commentaries Guest Booker series - http://kayfabecommentaries.com/DVD_GB_Sapolsky.html

Basically, he re-books ECW from June 2006 to the December to Dismember PPV. Only this time, the card is sixth months in the making instead of two weeks hype time. More or less, his ideas are better than what the WWE gave us but of course, fantasy booking is easy when you don't have the ego of McMahon to deal with. However, he never got that unrealistic as he didn't just go out and hire all ROH/FIP talent or TNA talent, for example.

I will be following most of the roster suggestions he gave in the DVD with one major exception (I'm keeping Kurt Angle). Also, don't think that by reading this circuit that I am spoiling what's on the DVD. I'm following a basic framework here. It's worth buying the DVD since it's Gabe Sapolsky and he's more coherent and logical than any WWE booker, that's for sure. Also, I would suggest buying the Guest Booker DVD with J.J. Dillon.

WWE Monday Night RAW - June 12, 2006

The new WWE Champion Rob Van Dam gave an interview talking about how it should be a honor to win the WWE Title. But with the return of ECW, as much as the WWE Title means to all wrestlers, it just didn't mean as much to him as the ECW World Title. With that, Rob Van Dam forfeited the title and left the ring.

Interview:
ECW General Manager Paul Heyman welcomes everyone to the return of Extreme Championship Wrestling with the debut of Hardcore TV on the Sci-Fi Network. Paul Heyman talked about Rob Van Dam's victory over John Cena at One Night Stand to become the WWE Champion. The next night on Monday Night RAW, Rob Van Dam forfeited the title because the only title he wanted to win was the ECW World Title. According to Heyman, RVD is the embodiment of what ECW is about and what it will be once again. However, as proud as Heyman is to have some of the ECW originals return, he is also excited about the new breed of ECW wrestlers that have joined his promotion. Tonight, the originals and new breed of ECW will square off in three matches. These matches include Kurt Angle versus Tommy Dreamer, Sabu versus Shelton Benjamin, and Rob Van Dam versus Matt Hardy. The winner of each match will qualify for a spot in a three way dance to be held next week. The winner of the Three Way Dance will become the new ECW World Champion!

The Sandman pinned The Zombie with the White Russian Legsweep in 0:00:49.
Rating: *

Before the match, an odd looking individual who looked like a typical zombie like character in cheesy B movies made his way to the ring. This is the Sci-Fi Channel after all. The Zombie tried to make a statement but no one could understand his language. This brought out The Sandman holding his singapore cane, who walked through the crowd to the music of Metallica's "Enter Sandman." Once in the ring, The Sandman laughed at The Zombie before hitting him with the singapore cane. This was followed with a White Russian Legsweep to get the three count. After the match, The Sandman celebrated by shotgunning some beer cans in the crowd. This could best be described as a subtle and sarcastic jab at the powers that be at the Sci-Fi Channel.

Interview:
CM Punk vignette about his straight edge lifestyle and how excited he is to compete against the very best of ECW.

[Three Way Dance Qualifying Match]:
Sabu pinned Shelton Benjamin with the Triple Jump Moonsault in 0:12:06.
Rating: **** 1/4

Sabu advances to next week's ECW World Title Three Way Dance by defeating Shelton Benjamin in a very competitive match. This match could've gone either way as both wrestler were using the high risk, extreme style that only ECW can bring. The finish would come when Shelton Benjamin went for the splash in the corner only for Sabu to move out of the way. Sabu followed by hitting a drop
toe hold onto a chair that had been set up, knocking Benjamin down to the mat hard. Sabu set the chair back up again and hit the Triple Jump Moonsault to get the victory.

Interview:
Melina, Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury, collectively known as MNM, are standing backstage. Melina talks about how her men have been signed to ECW to be the cornerstone of the tag team division. They are too good for a vile place like ECW. Instead of wrestling neanderthals like Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney, they should be out in Hollywood partying with the likes of Kevin Federline and Paris Hilton. MNM are former WWE Tag Team Champions and they are the class of ECW. Melina says it is only a matter of time before MNM is the ECW World Tag Team Champions.

[Three Way Dance Qualifying Match]:
Kurt Angle made Tommy Dreamer submit to the Ankle Lock in 0:07:54.
Rating: ****

Kurt Angle, the cornerstone of the new ECW, went up against the heart and soul of ECW in Tommy Dreamer, a former ECW World Champion. This match was also an introduction to the extreme, hardcore style of ECW for Kurt Angle. While at first it might have been a shock, Kurt Angle adjusted well and would try to move the match to a more technical style when he had control, which is his definitely his advantage over Tommy Dreamer. In the end, Tommy Dreamer would lose this match due to resorting to extreme tactics. Tommy Dreamer tried to hit Kurt Angle with a baseball bat but Kurt Angle moved out of the way, grabbed the bat, and hit Dreamer in the midsection. Kurt Angle hit a stunned Tommy Dreamer with an Angle Slam and followed that with the Ankle Lock for the submission
victory.

After the match, Tommy Dreamer got back up and tried to shake Kurt Angle's hand in a show of respect. Kurt Angle thought about it but waved Tommy Dreamer off and left the ring to which the crowd booed him.

Interview:
Paul London and Brian Kendrick, calling themselves The Hooliganz, talk about how they are coming to ECW to prove to the fans that they belong. They both got into the business because of the originals of ECW inspiring them. In fact, they forfeited their WWE Tag Team Titles so they could sign with the new ECW. They heard what MNM had to say earlier about being the class of ECW and the uncrowned ECW World Tag Team Champions. If that's true, they've outclassed MNM many times and beat them for the WWE Tag Team Championship less than a month ago. MNM is going to have competition in The Hooliganz.

[Three Way Dance Qualifying Match]:
Rob Van Dam pinned Matt Hardy with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:17:07.
Rating: **** 1/2

The crowd cheered both Rob Van Dam and Matt Hardy in this match. Rob Van Dam is immensely popular with the ECW crowd but so too is Matt Hardy who many view as not being utilized as much as he should've been while in the WWE. This was yet another competitive match tonight on ECW Hardcore TV as both were aware of what was on the line for the winner. The end came when Matt Hardy tried to hit the Twist of Fate on Rob Van Dam only to have the move countered with a push off. Rob Van Dam quickly grabbed a chair that was lying on the mat and threw it at Matt Hardy. Rob Van Dam quickly hit the Van Daminator before Matt Hardy could realize what was happening. Rob Van Dam went on to capitalize on this by hitting the Five Star Frog Splash to get the three count.

After the match, Matt Hardy shakes Rob Van Dam in a show of respect and wishes him luck next week. Kurt Angle walks out on the stage and claps his hand in a sarcastic manner. The light turn off and back on and in the crowd is Sabu, who points to the sky but then also makes a motion around his waist that the belt is coming to him. All three men stare each other down from their respective positions as ECW Hardcore TV goes off.

Val Venis is shown talking with Paul Heyman. Venis thanks Heyman for giving him an opportunity which he lacked in the WWE. Stevie Richards appeared and acted excited to see Val Venis in ECW, telling him he was a big fan of his work. Kurt Angle walked by and laughed at Paul Heyman for signing two losers like Val Venis and Stevie Richards to ECW. Kurt Angle tells them that if they want to see how a winner performs, they need to watch him win the ECW World Title against Sabu and Rob Van Dam in the main event.

William Regal pinned Al Snow after a roll up in 0:05:39.
Rating: ** 3/4

Harry Smith, the son of the late, great "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith, made his debut in ECW by helping William Regal defeat Al Snow. The referee had been knocked down when William Regal went to punch Al Snow with brass knux but hit the referee when Al Snow ducked out of the way. Al Snow spun William Regal around and hit the Snow Plow. Al Snow went for the pin but the referee was still out from the punch from Regal. The crowd got on their feet as Harry Smith ran into the ring and began pummeling Al Snow. Harry Smith went to the outside of the ring and brought a chair in and slammed it against Al Snow's head. Harry Smith picked Al Snow up and hit the Running Powerslam onto the chair! Harry Smith put William Regal on top of Al Snow for the cover and shook the referee until he came to enough to make the three count.

Interview:
Brent Albright puts himself over as being the toughest wrestler to ever come through ECW. To prove that he is the toughest, he signed with ECW with the intent of proving that to every hardcore ECW original he can get to face him in the squared circle. With that said, Brent Albright issued an open challenge which was accepted by one of the most hardcore wrestlers of the original ECW, Balls Mahoney!

Brent Albright pinned Balls Mahoney after a belly-to-back suplex in 0:04:22.
Rating: ** 3/4

This was an all out brawl early on which showcased that Brent Albright was as tough as he claimed he was and that Ball Mahoney was still the same hardcore, chair swinging freak that he was in the original ECW. Once the match got back into the ring, Brent Albright took advantage as he is definitely the more solid of the two when it comes to technical wrestling ability. The ECW fans were shocked as Brent Albright got Balls Mahoney up for a Belly-to-Back Suplex to get the three count.

Interview:
Another CM Punk vignette to build to his debut in ECW. This time he talks about how he gets high on competition, not drugs or alcohol.

MNM complained to Paul Heyman about not having a match on the first two weeks of ECW Hardcore TV. Melina thinks a good PR move for Paul Heyman would be to declare MNM the new ECW World Tag Team Champions. It would be publicity for ECW to have the greatest WWE tag team as ECW's new champions. Besides, no other team in ECW are A-Listers like they are. Paul Heyman thinks about it and while he appreciates having MNM in ECW, they aren't going to be given anything. If they want a match, they have it next week. Even better, if they win, they will be the ECW World Tag Team Champions. Although, the caveat is that they must win the titles in a Four Way Dance. One of the teams that will be in the match are The Hooliganz, Paul London and Brian Kendrick, who just so happened defeated MNM for the WWE Tag Team Titles not so long ago. The Hooliganz show up and laugh at MNM and tell them that they have their number and next week history will repeat itself. An irritated MNM leave Paul Heyman's office vowing to prove them wrong next week.

Three Way Dance for the vacant ECW World Title:
Kurt Angle won a Three Way Dance:
x K. Angle defeated Sabu after the Ankle Lock in 0:17:46
x K. Angle defeated RVD after a German suplex in 0:19:41
Rating: *****
(Kurt Angle won the ECW World Title.)

This was the moment the ECW fans had been waiting for. Finally, ECW was going to determine its new World Champion to guide it into the new era of the promotion. It was fitting that the match to determine a new ECW World Champion would be held under Three Way Dance rules. Unlike a Triple Threat match, a Three Way Dance does not end after the first wrestler is pinned or has submitted. The match continues with the last two wrestlers remaining. In this match, the first wrestler eliminated was Sabu. Kurt Angle made Sabu submit to the Ankle Lock in the middle of the ring. Rob Van Dam was on the outside of the ring and couldn't get back in time to help Sabu break the hold. Afterwards, the match was down to Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam. Kurt Angle would go on to win after interference from Val Venis to cost him the match. Val Venis hit Rob Van Dam with a chair shot that carried RVD right into Kurt Angle who followed up with a German Suplex for the three count. Kurt Angle is the new ECW World Champion thanks to none other than Val Venis!

Interview:
The new ECW World Champion Kurt Angle congratulated himself on winning the championship last week. He was proud that not only did he win the ECW World Title but he defeated two fan favorites and ECW Originals like Rob Van Dam and Sabu. Kurt Angle introduced Val Venis as a member of the newly reformed Team Angle. Val Venis thanked Kurt Angle and that this opportunity was given to him not by Paul Heyman but Kurt Angle! Val Venis promised Kurt Angle that he will return this opportunity by protecting Kurt Angle's ECW World Title at all costs. This brought out Stevie Richards. Stevie Richards said that he was disappointed in Val Venis because he felt betrayed by his idol. Stevie Richards said he was a fan of Val Venis' work but that his loyalty is with ECW! This lead to Stevie Richards challenging Val Venis to a match tonight which was accepted. Paul Heyman then came out to express his disappointment with Kurt Angle for winning the title in the manner he did. However, Kurt Angle is the ECW World Champion and he should be respected for that. Next week, on July 4th, ECW Hardcore TV will feature Rob Van Dam getting a rematch for the title against Kurt Angle in a Steel Cage Match! Kurt Angle and Val Venis were furious while Paul Heyman and Stevie Richards laughed as they went backstage.

Matt Hardy pinned Justin Credible with the Twist of Fate in 0:10:19.
Rating: ***

Matt Hardy's popularity in ECW continues to grow as the fans respect what he can bring to the promotion. Tonight, he was challenged by the former ECW World Champion Justin Credible and it provided for an entertaining wrestling match. Justin Credible hit his finisher, That's Incredible, twice in this match only to have the resilient Matt Hardy kick out twice. This visibly frustrated Justin Credible who was wrestling in his first match since the return of ECW and wanted to start it out with a victory. Unfortunately for him, it was not to be as Matt Hardy would use his ring smarts to his advantage. Justin Credible went for a side suplex but Matt Hardy countered out of it with spinning headscissors. Matt Hardy followed with the Twist of Fate to get the three count.

Interview:
There is a commotion backstage as we see Stevie Richards laid out on the ground, a victim of a beatdown.

Jamie Noble is in the ring and talks about how he is down on his luck with his career but all of that changes tonight in ECW. Noble throws out an open challenge to anyone for a match. The challenge is accepted by The Sandman much to Noble's dismay!

The Sandman pinned Jamie Noble with the White Russian Legsweep in 0:02:24.
Rating: ** 1/4

The pride of the south, Jamie Noble, once again continued his bad luck he talked about in his in-ring promo before the match as the open challenge was answered by The Sandman. The Sandman had no trouble with defeating Jamie Noble, using a few singapore cane shots and a White Russian Legsweep to pick up the victory.

Interview:
William Regal puts over Harry Smith as being his protege to explain why Harry Smith helped him last week against Al Snow.

Shelton Benjamin talks about how a lot of people were impressed with his first match in ECW against Sabu. While he showcased his superior athletic abilities, the bottom line is that he didn't win. Despite that loss, Shelton Benjamin ensures us that his future in ECW will be golden. He's coined himself to be the "Gold Standard" and soon all of ECW will realize that "ain't nothing stopping him now."

Paul Heyman makes another big announcement that next week on ECW Hardcore TV we will see the new ECW World Television Champion, a title Paul Heyman always viewed as being close to if not being on par with the ECW World Title, being determined in a battle royal. Paul Heyman also addresses what happened to Stevie Richards earlier. Unfortunately, Stevie Richards will not be able to compete tonight against Val Venis. However, Val Venis is not getting out of a match as his opponent will be Tommy Dreamer!

Val Venis pinned Tommy Dreamer with the Money Shot in 0:07:10.
Rating: ** 1/2

Kurt Angle helped Val Venis win the match after hitting Tommy Dreamer with the ECW World Title. Val Venis capitalized on the assist by hitting the Money Shot to get the three count. After the match, Val Venis and Kurt Angle double teamed Tommy Dreamer with a beatdown until The Sandman made the save.

Interview:
Another CM Punk vignette is played. This time, CM Punk shows us his tattoos and the meaning of each to him. CM Punk says that his tattoos speak to what he stands for: honor, respect, and integrity.

Four Way Dance for the vacant ECW World Tag Team Titles:
Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro won a Four Way Dance:
x Nitro defeated P. London (partner: Brian Kendrick) after the
Snapping Front Flip Neckbreaker in 0:09:55
x Mercury defeated Mamaluke (partner: Little Guido) after the

[Trinity interfered against Rob Van Dam.]

The other teams not announced last week for this match included The Full Blooded Italians team of Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke, and the surprise team of Rob Van Dam and Sabu, just a week removed from losing to Kurt Angle in the Three Way Dance for the ECW World Title. The first team eliminated were The Hooliganz after Melina entered the ring and hit Paul London with a chair. Johnny Nitro followed by hitting the Snapping Front Flip Neckbreaker on him for the three count. That should give MNM some bragging rights after the past few months of The Hooliganz getting the advantage over them. MNM followed by eliminating The Full Blooded Italians after Joey Mercury hit the Future Shock on Tony Mamaluke for the three count. This left MNM with Rob Van Dam and Sabu as the only obstacles to the ECW World Tag Team Titles. Rob Van Dam thre Johnny Nitro out of the ring and hit a plancha. In the ring, Joey Mercury hit a vertical facebuster on Sabu to get the three count. MNM are the new ECW World Tag Team Champions, just as they predicted they would be.

D.H. Smith and William Regal defeated Al Snow and Mikey Whipwreck when Smith pinned Mikey with the Stampede Powerslam in 0:06:01.
Rating: **

This was the wrestling debut of Harry Smith, who refers to himself as D.H. Smith. Two weeks ago, he helped William Regal defeat Al Snow and it was revealed that he is the protege of William Regal. It was obvious in this match that D.H. Smith is the power of the team while William Regal brings the stiff, strong style. On the other side, Al Snow looked to Mikey Whipwreck, the ultimate underdog but also a former ECW World Champion, to even the sides out in this match. In his first match in ECW, D.H Smith gets the winning pinfall for his team as he pinned Mikey Whipwreck with the Stampede Powerslam. These two could be a force to be reckoned with in the ECW tag team division.

MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) and Brent Albright defeated The Hooliganz (Paul London and Brian Kendrick) and Balls Mahoney when B. Albright made B. Mahoney submit to the Crowbar in 0:11:47.
Rating: ***

MNM won the ECW World Tag Team Titles last week in a Four Way Dance that also included their rivals The Hooliganz. They eliminated The Hooliganz from the match but with help from a Melina chairshot. This week MNM teamed up with Brent Albright to face The Hooliganz and Balls Mahoney in a Six Man Tag Team Match. Brent Albright continued to make a statement about his toughness and his determination to prove it to the original ECW wrestlers in this match as he made Balls Mahoney submit to the Crowbar. Meanwhile, out in the crowd MNM and The Hooliganz continued to fight, even after the bell rang.

Interview:
Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam each talk about their Steel Cage Match and its importance to ECW. Kurt Angle says that he is the wrestling machine and his ECW World Title signifies that he is the best not only in ECW but the entire
wrestling industry. Kurt Angle is tired of Rob Van Dam complaining about how the Three Way Dance went. That's why he is happy to be defending the ECW World Title in a steel cage because when Rob Van Dam loses again, there will be no excuses. Rob Van Dam talks about how much it would mean to win the ECW World Title. It would mean more than winning the WWE Title because he is ECW and
wants an ECW original to represent the promotion as its World Champion.

10-Man Battle Royal for the vacant ECW World Television Title:

Matt Hardy has capitalized on the opportunity he's been given in ECW in a major way by capturing the ECW World Television Title! He was able to last 26 minutes and outlast nine other ECW wrestlers to get arguably his biggest win in his career to this point.

Interview:
A beautiful blonde woman introduces herself as Kelly Kelly and admits that she is an exhibitionist, which means she likes to take her clothes off in very public places. What better place than the ECW Arena to do something likethat, she rhetorically asks. Next week, she promises to show ECW what she is all about.

Stevie Richards was playing everyone for a fool the past few weeks. He turned his back on ECW by aligning himself with Kurt Angle. After Rob Van Dam hit the Five Star Frog Splash, he went for the cage door which Stevie Richards had opened for him. As Rob Van Dam was about to get out, Stevie Richards slammed the door on him! This allowed Kurt Angle the time to get back to his feet and stagger his way towards the cage door, where he stepped over Rob Van Dam and out of the cage to be declared the winner. Why would Stevie Richards turn his back on Rob Van Dam and ECW to support Kurt Angle?

Interview:
Stevie Richards explains why he helped Kurt Angle in last week's ECW World Title Match. Basically, Stevie Richards' motivation was to associate himself with a winner like Kurt Angle and his idol, Val Venis. Stevie Richards was tired of being the loveable loser to all the fans. The fans may have loved him but he was still a loser and not reaching his potential. Aligning himself with Kurt Angle can only do wonders for his career, according to Stevie Richards.

This lead to Kurt Angle congratulating Stevie Richards on making a wise choice. He commended both Val Venis and Stevie Richards for making the right choices and aligning with him. To reward Val Venis and Stevie Richards, he announces that they are now considered members of Team Angle. To make it official, Kurt Angle awards Val Venis and Stevie Richards with honorary gold medals. Val Venis
and Stevie Richards were excited while the fans continued to boo them. Suddenly, the lights turned off. When they turned back on, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, and The Sandman were in the ring and attacked the stunned Team Angle. Team Angle got out of the ring as quick as they could while the ECW Originals wanted them back in the ring.

Paul Heyman came out and expressed his disappointment with Stevie Richards. He says that for every action comes a reaction and that happens tonight. In the main event, in a six man tag team match, Team Angle will square off with Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, and Sabu!

Tony Mamaluke made an improbable run in the battle royal last week that determined a new ECW World Television Champion. This week, Matt Hardy had his first title defense against Tony Mamaluke. In ECW, most World TV Title defenses will be limited to ten minutes unless determined otherwise. The reigning champion Matt Hardy retained his title after hitting the Twist of Fate on Tony Mamaluke.

After the match, an emotional Matt Hardy thanked the fans for welcoming him into ECW. He also talks about winning the ECW World Television Title and how he is aware how important the championship is. Matt Hardy realizes that holding the ECW World Television Title signifies he's the best wrestler on television today. Matt Hardy promises to defend this belt with the same desire Rob Van Dam had when he was the longest reigning ECW World Television Champion.

CM Punk defeated Justin Credible when Justin Credible passed out in the Anaconda Vice in 0:08:48.
Rating: **** 1/4

The reception CM Punk received from the ECW Arena crowd was loud to say the least as he was greeted with "CM Punk" chants throughout the match. The former ECW World Champion Justin Credible wasn't about to just roll over and let CM Punk get an easy victory just because of his hype coming into ECW. Justin Credible made this a competitive match like he always does but the varied fighting styles of CM Punk won out in the end. Using a stiff running kick in the corner, he was able to set Justin Credible up for a uragnage. With Justin Credible in the middle of the ring, CM Punk applied the Anaconda Vice to get the submission victory.

Interview:
MNM, the ECW World Tag Team Champions, talk about their favorite subject: themselves. They take time to gloat about their championship victory that they predicted would happen. They also make fun of The Hooliganz for talking a big game only to find themselves the first team eliminated in the Four Way Dance, thanks to MNM.

Brent Albright talks about how people are starting to take note of him here in ECW. He told everyone he was tougher than the ECW Originals and he's starting to prove it. First it was Balls Mahoney and now Brent Albright is looking for another challenge from one of ECW originals who think they can out-tough him in the squared circle.

Jamie Noble is backstage looking glum and asks himself if he has what it takes to get to the next level. Noble ponders leaving wrestling altogether and going back to the trailer park. As he said that, the blonde from last, Kelly Kelly, walked by Jamie Noble and he immediately perked up. She introduced herself to him and said she was a big fan. Jamie Noble seemed shocked that he might have a fan. Kelly Kelly waved goodbye but told him to watch her later on because she's going to take it all off. Instead of being excited, Jamie Noble was still in shock about Kelly Kelly saying she was a big fan to even hear what she just
said.

Shelton Benjamin reminded everyone that he is the "Gold Standard" of ECW. While everyone praises Matt Hardy for winning the ECW World Television Championship, they need to realize that he hasn't faced anyone the caliber of Shelton Benjamin yet. He wants Matt Hardy to pay special attention to his match next to see why there "ain't nothing stoppin' him" from winning the ECW World Television Title.

Shelton Benjamin pinned Mikey Whipwreck with the T-Bone in 0:02:41.
Rating: ** 1/4

The confident and arrogant Shelton Benjamin showed why his nickname of the "Gold Standard" is well deserved as he defeated the former ECW World Champion Mikey Whipwreck. Mike Whipwreck barely got any offense in as this match seemed more like a showcase of Shelton Benjamin's abilities more so than a competition.

Interview:

The fans are split on whether to cheer or boo her but they start cheering more as she takes her bra off and turns her back to the camera. As the fans are about to boo, they cheer again as she starts to pull her tights off but not surprisingly, the show goes to a commercial break. When the show returns from commercial break, Joey Styles and Tazz explain that the network was none too happy about what was happening. Joey Styles made a joke about how women and Sci-Fi fans is an oxy moron.

Sabu, Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman defeated Team Angle (Kurt Angle, Stevie Richards and Val Venis) when Sabu pinned K. Angle with the Triple Jump Moonsault in 0:18:52.
Rating: *** 1/4

There was a lot of emotion from the ECW crowd and the wrestlers in this match, especially the ECW Originals team of Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, and The Sandman, after what happened last week to Rob Van Dam at the hands of Stevie Richards. A good ol' fashion ECW brawl mixed with some wrestling here and there. The big finish that will have been wondering if Kurt Angle has a new challenger to his title happened when Sabu hit the Triple Jump Moonsault on Kurt Angle to get the three count. Val Venis and Stevie Richards could not break the pin up as they were busy fighting with Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman. Is Sabu next in line to challenge Kurt Angle for the ECW World Title?

Matt Hardy pinned Jamie Noble with the Twist of Fate in 0:07:15.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Matt Hardy retained the ECW World Television Title.)

Another successful title defense for Matt Hardy to open this week's edition of ECW Hardcore TV. Jamie Noble, down on his luck the past few weeks, has nothing to feel ashamed of as gave Matt Hardy decent competition but not enough to take the title away from him. After Matt Hardy left the ring with the title, Jamie Noble stood in one of the corners with his hand down on the turnbuckle, apparently still feeling down about his career.

Interview:
Kelly Kelly is on a stage again like last week and told Jamie Noble that she has something for him that she knows will make him feel better. This of course is another attempt at strip tease but before she can take her bra off, an unknown man comes out with a towel and covers her up before taking her away from the stage. Jamie Noble looked disappointed in the ring like all the fans were.

Brent Albright made Balls Mahoney submit to the Crowbar in 0:05:18.
Rating: ***

Before the match, Brent Albright once again issued an open challenge to any of the ECW Originals to see who, if anyone, can match his toughness. This brought out Balls Mahoney once again, who is determined to beat Brent Albright. The match was controlled by Brent Albright from the start and it seemed like he even toyed with Balls Mahoney at some points. Finally, Albright would move the match to its conclusion when he hit a Hotshot and then applied the Crowbar to Balls Mahoney, who submitted quickly to the hold.

After the match, Brent Albright grabbed a chair from outside the ring and brought it back inside. He proceeded to repeatedly hit the right leg of Balls Mahoney. He dragged Balls Mahoney to one of the corner posts and slammed his leg against the post. Brent Albright applied the Figure Four Leglock on Balls Mahoney while he was still straddled on the ringpost! Balls Mahoney was in obvious pain and would only break the hold when Axl Rotten ran down to the ring to make the save.

Interview:
Paul Heyman announced that he was so impressed with Sabu's pin against ECW World Champion Kurt Angle in last week's six man tag team match, he has granted him a title match for next week's ECW Hardcore TV.

CM Punk thanked the fans for accepting him into ECW last week. He said he viewed ECW and the fans as his family and that the outpouring of appreciation and support was more than he ever received growing up in Chicago, Illinois. He gave a brief overview of the origins of his straight-edge lifestyle and why it shapes who he is today.

Brent Albright gloated about injuring Balls Mahoney and insisted that he had warned Balls Mahoney to not accept another match with him because he was capable of injuring him. Now that Balls Mahoney is injured and proved to not be tougher than him, it's time to see who else in ECW thinks they can match him in the squared circle.

Justin Credible talked about how sick and tired he was hearing about CM Punk this and that wherever he does. He reminded CM Punk that he was a former ECW World Champion, while CM Punk was the king of the indies. Despite losing to CM Punk last week, Justin Credible doesn't believe he has proven anything yet. Justin Credible challenged CM Punk to another for next week's ECW Hardcore TV because he wants to prove that CM Punk is nothing more than hype.

Val Venis and Stevie Richards, the newest members of Team Angle, are out in downtown Philadelphia with their honorary gold medals given to them by Kurt Angle. Stevie Richards had an idea that since they were now considered gold medalists that it would increase their stock with the ladies. Hilarity ensured when every woman Stevie and Val hit on ignored them! Val Venis and Stevie Richards were bummed with Stevie Richards saying its worse for Val considering he's a former porn star with a gold medal. The two begin to argue as the show goes to a commercial break.

D.H. Smith pinned Al Snow with the Stampede Powerslam in 0:05:09.
Rating: ** 1/2

Al Snow looked to gain some revenge against D.H. Smith for his interference against him in a match against William Regal a few weeks ago. That was not to be tonight as D.H. Smith displayed his power and strength but also had help
from his mentor William Regal. Al Snow was distracted by William Regal long enough for D.H. Smith to surprise Al Snow with a German Suplex. D.H. Smith hit the Stampede Powerslam on Al Snow to get the three count.

Interview:
Kurt Angle, the ECW World Champion, talked about Paul Heyman's announcement that Sabu will receive a title match next week on ECW Hardcore TV. Kurt Angle was intense and insinuated that the only thing "homicidal, genocidal, and suicidal" is getting into the ring with him. Kurt Angle said that while Sabu might be a daredevil in the ring, he's a Wrestling Machine capable of breaking Sabu's ankle. Next week, Kurt Angle vowed to make Sabu tap out to the Ankle Lock and be just like his friend Rob Van Dam: a loser.

CM Punk defeated Justin Credible when Justin Credible passed out in the Anaconda Vice in 0:06:33.
Rating: **** 1/4

Last week, on the heels of being defeated by CM Punk his debut match in ECW, Justin Credible issued a challenge to CM Punk for another match because he wasn't impressed and called the outcome of their first match a fluke. The challenge was accepted and knowing CM Punk's competitive nature, it motivated him in this match against Justin Credible. If CM Punk defeating Justin Credible is merely a fluke, then the fluke happened twice. CM Punk made Justin Credible pass out in the Anaconda Vice for the victory. After the match, The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer entered the ring and congratulated CM Punk on another victory.

Interview:
Backstage, the ECW World Tag Team Champions, MNM, have papparazzi taking their pictures while they pose with the belts. This brought out The Hooliganz who walked by MNM with their own entourage of papparazzi. MNM looked surprised that The Hooliganz would have photographers following them around since they are not the champions and not from Hollywood. The Hooliganz said they have photographers for the same reason MNM's photographers follow them around: they paid them! This infuriated MNM for even insinuating the attention given to them was because of money. The Hooliganz laughed and suggested that maybe MNM should put the belts on the line against them if they are so upset. MNM didn't know what to say to
that as Paul Heyman walked up to the two teams. Heyman said he could use some photographers too, so he hands them some money and they start taking pictures of him. While they are snapping photos, Paul Heyman announced
that there will be a Three Way Dance next week to determine the number one contenders to MNM's ECW World Tag Team Titles. The teams include D.H. Smith and William Regal, The Full Blooded Italians and The Hooliganz!

Shelton Benjamin once called out Matt Hardy and said he made for a cowardly World Television Champion. In his opinion, Matt Hardy's title reign can't be validated until he's defended the belt against him. Next week, he's going to watch Matt Hardy defend the ECW World Television Title
when he does color commentary with Joey Styles and Tazz.

CM Punk is walking down the hallway with his gym bag when he's stopped by The Sandman, who looked like had had a few beers by now. The Sandman once again congratulated CM Punk on his victory and told him he would've fit in perfectly in the original ECW. CM Punk thanked The Sandman but looked somewhat annoyed at The Sandman for being visibly drunk. He asked The Sandman how many beers he's had. The Sandman said he lost count but asked CM Punk if he wanted a beer. CM Punk, more annoyed now, told The Sandman that if he wasn't so drunk he would have remembered he is straight-edge and doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs. Before leaving, CM Punk told The Sandman to sober up. Once CM Punk has left, The Sandman rhetorically asks what the word sober means.

Axl Rotten talked about returning to ECW last week to help Balls Mahoney against Brent Albright. Unfortunately, he didn't get to the ring in time to prevent Balls Mahoney from sustaining ligament tears in his right leg. Axl Rotten referenced that Brent Albright has made it a point to call out ECW Original to prove he was tougher than them. Now that Brent Albright has taken his good friend Balls Mahoney out of ECW, it's payback time. Axl wants Brent Albright in the ring any time, any place.

An excited Paul Heyman announced that he has made a major signing to ECW. Heyman would not spoil the surprise but promised that this wrestler will not be a disappointment. Also, he will make his debut in ECW next week when Hardcore TV comes back to New York City at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Tommy Dreamer pinned Stevie Richards with the Dreamer DDT in 0:11:56.
Rating: *** 1/2

This match was personal for Tommy Dreamer as he fought his former friend and ECW original Stevie Richards. A few weeks ago, Stevie Richards turned his back on ECW by joining Team Angle in a match where Kurt Angle retained the ECW World Title against Rob Van Dam. No one represents ECW as much as Tommy Dreamer does and took out his anger on Stevie Richards throughout this match. The match was a throwback to the original ECW with the brawling and hardcore weapons used. Tommy Dreamer picked up the win by hitting the Dreamer DDT on
Stevie Richards onto a steel chair.

Interview:
Kelly Kelly is backstage talking to Jamie Noble. They are interupted by the unknown man from last week who interupted Kelly Kelly last week during her strip show. He got in between Kelly Kelly and Jamie Noble. He introduced
himself as Aaron "The Idol" Stevens and more importantly, as Kelly Kelly's boyfriend. He gave Kelly Kelly a kiss in front of Jamie Noble. He noticed Jamie Noble's expression changed to disappointment and wonders if Noble actually thought Kelly Kelly had any interest in a perennial loser like
Noble. Steven told Kelly Kelly it was time to go but she waved goodbye to Noble and told him she did not think Noble was a loser.

Kurt Angle made Sabu submit to the Ankle Lock in 0:16:12.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Kurt Angle retained the ECW World Title.)

The first one on one match between Kurt Angle and Sabu did not disappoint as Angle's ECW World Title was on the line in the main event. If Kurt Angle was not familiar with the hardcore style of ECW by now, he received a heavy dose of what ECW was and can still all be about thanks to Sabu. However, Kurt Angle would retain the title by turning Sabu's weapons of hardcore against him. Sabu had Kurt Angle up on a table in the ring to setup the Arabian Facebuster. As Sabu attempted the move, Kurt Angle rolled out of the way, making Sabu go through the table. Kurt Angle immediately locked in the Ankle Lock submission hold on Sabu in the middle of the ring and made him submit to get the win. Kurt Angle continues to solidify his hold on the ECW World Title.

Interview:
ECW World Champion Kurt Angle talked about how great he was and how he defeated the fan favorite and ECW original Sabu to retain the title last week. Kurt Angle said he is the greatest champion and wrestler to ever lace their boots. The fans were shocked when the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair walked down to the ring. This must be the surprise signing that Paul Heyman promised last week. Ric Flair told the crowd that he might not be an ECW original but he respected the history of the promotion and that is why he agreed to sign with ECW. Ric Flair told Kurt Angle that while he might be the greatest wrestler in the world right now, to say he was the greatest wrestler and champion ever is a lie because that would be Ric Flair, not Kurt Angle. Ric Flair told the crowd that another reason he signed with ECW is that every major promotion he has wrestled in, he has won their World Title. The only title that has eluded him is the ECW World Title. Ric Flair made it perfectly clear that his career cannot be considered complete until he has won the ECW World Title. It just so happens that Kurt Angle is the ECW World Champion right now but he put him on notice that he is going after that title! Ric Flair gives a "whoooo" to Kurt Angle before leaving the ring. Kurt Angle had a look of worry on his face as the show went to a commercial break.

Brent Albright defeated Axl Rotten when Axl Rotten passed out in the Crowbar in 0:01:08.
Rating: **

Axl Rotten wanted revenge against Brent Albright for what he did to Balls Mahoney last week. This was his match to defend the original ECW against the man who wants to prove he is better and tougher than all the original ECW wrestlers. Unfortunately, Axl Rotten didn't get the chance to fight Brent Albright face to face as he climbed over the barrier and entered the ring from behind during his introduction. He had a chair with him and used a chairshot on Axl Rotten to surprise him and followed with a DDT onto the chair. Brent Albright immediately followed up by locking in the Crowbar. Axl Rotten was already out cold from the sneak attack so Axl Rotten wasn't able to answer the referee's count. Brent Albright wins yet another match against an ECW original but if he thinks he is so tough, why would he need to attack Axl Rotten with a chair from behind before the match even started?

Interview:
A vignette is played showing MNM poolside at a hotel. They have the title belts on the table by their lounge chairs and they take in the scene. Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro trash talk The Hooliganz while Melina is in the pool swimming. They mention the prediction they made weeks earlier about becoming the ECW World Tag Team Champions and they accomplished it despite the fans and The Hooliganz stating otherwise. Johnny Nitro added that MNM has brought ECW A-List publicity and west coast class. Joey Mercury said that all The Hooliganz have brought are their pastey white bodies and their bad haircuts. They both don't even think The Hooliganz are good enough to beat D.H. Smith and William Regal and The Full Blooded Italians in tonight's Three Way Dance to become number one contenders. Nitro and Mercury reminded everyone that there is nothing sweeter and certainly nothing hotter than MNM. To drive this point home, the camera focuses on Melina slowly getting out of the pool wearing a very skimpy bathing suit that hugs tight to her curves.

Matt Hardy pinned Val Venis with the Twist of Fate in 0:07:59.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Matt Hardy retained the ECW World Television Title.)

As he promised last week, Shelton Benjamin watched the match from ringside as he called color commentary with Joey Styles and Tazz. Throughout the match, Shelton Benjamin insisted Matt Hardy's title reign is meaningless until he defended the title against him. This match had a major surprise as Rob Van Dam returned after being gone for four weeks. Rob Van Dam hit the ring and threw a chair at Val Venis before hitting the Van Daminator. Rob Van Dam did the thumb taunting pose before leaving the ring as the crowd cheered and chanted for him. Matt Hardy picked Val Venis up and hit the Twist of Fate onto the chair to pick up the win.

After the match, Matt Hardy got on the microphone and talked about how he was sick and tired of hearing Shelton Benjamin whine and moan about not being the ECW World Television Champion. He looked in Shelton Benjamin's direction at the announce table. Matt Hardy told Shelton Benjamin that if he wants a title match he has it next week. Shelton Benjamin looked pleased with the announcement and told Joey Styles and Tazz that the ECW World Television Title is going to be his next week.

Interview:
Kelly Kelly is backstage talking with Jamie Noble and apologized for how Aaron Stevens acted last week. Jamie Noble asked why she would stay with a jerk like Aaron Stevens when she could have anyone she wanted. That's a $64,000 question for most women and Kelly Kelly was no exception as she couldn't give an answer. Jamie Noble said that he's a southern gentleman and that his upbringing raised him with manners. Aaron Stevens walked up to the two again and told Noble that manners are for losers and that nice guys finish last. Aaron Steven added that tonight when he defeated Jamie Noble to give him another loss, maybe he'll realize that he's a loser that would never have a chance with someone like Kelly Kelly. Aaron Stevens grabbed Kelly Kelly and walked away. Jamie Noble had an intense look in his face as he stared them down walking away

The Sandman walked up to CM Punk and wanted to apologize about last week. After thinking about what CM Punk had to say to him, it made him realize that he made a mistake by offering a beer despite knowing CM Punk's straight edge lifestyle and beliefs. The Sandman said he was just too drunk to remember and he is sorry if he disrespected him. CM Punk laughed it off and said it was no big deal and respected the fact The Sandman would apologize for it. CM Punk realizes that most of the original ECW was never held in check for their addictions and that he can't hold it against them. The Sandman looked at him
curiously for that but instead asked CM Punk if he would be interested in competing in a six man tag team match with Tommy Dreamer and him as his tag team partners against Justin Credible, C.W. Anderson, and some surprise
partner they have. CM Punk loves competition and said he would love to compete against the best of the ECW originals.

Paul Heyman thanked Ric Flair for signing with ECW and shook his hand. Ric Flair said the honor is his and he is excited to compete against the very best of ECW, with his ultimate goal of winning the ECW World Title at some point. Suddenly, Ric Flair is attacked by D.H. Smith and William Regal! They rough him up, with William Regal using some stiff punches to lay him down to the concrete of the ECW Arena.

Jamie Noble pinned Aaron Stevens after a roll up in 0:04:04.
Rating: ** 3/4

The ECW wrestling debut of Aaron Stevens didn't get off on the right foot against Jamie Noble. During the match, Kelly Kelly went back to the stage and started her strip show again. Aaron Stevens yelled at her from the ring only to have Jamie Noble take advantage of the distraction with a roll up for the three count! The ECW crowd chanted "NOBLE" repeatedly as he celebrated his victory through the crowd. Meanwhile, Aaron Stevens didn't look very happy at Kelly Kelly as he grabbed her and took her backstage.

Interview:
An angry Val Venis entered Team Angle's lockerroom looking for Stevie Richards. He shouted about where Stevie Richards was earlier when he got the Van Daminator from Rob Van Dam but received no answer from Stevie Richards. After looking all around, he checked the closet where he found Stevie Richards balled up. Val Venis laughed and figured he'd find Stevie Richards "in the closet". Stevie Richards told him to shut up because he didn't want Rob Van Dam to find him. Val Venis said after the Van Daminator he took from Rob Van Dam, Stevie Richards would deserve whatever is coming his way from RVD. Kurt Angle walked in and looked at Stevie Richards hiding in the closet like a coward and shook his head in disappointment. He told them to shape up because he's not going to have honorary gold medalists act cowardly. With the arrival of Ric Flair, Kurt Angle told them they all need to be on the same page if they hope to keep the ECW World Title within the ranks of Team Angle.

Number-One-Contenders-Three Way Dance Match:

Rating: *** 1/2

The Hooliganz team of Paul London and Brian Kendrick will finally get their shot at their rivals MNM for the ECW World Tag Team Titles next week as they were able to defeat D.H. Smith and William Regal and The Full Blooded Italians in this Three Way Dance Match. After nine minutes of intense action, D.H. Smith and William Regal got the first elimination after D.H. Smith pinned Little Guido with the Stampede Powerslam. This left The Hooliganz and D.H. Smith and William Regal to fight it out to see who would earn a title shot against MNM. After the match, MNM stood in the aisle with their titles and held them high while The Hooliganz each made a motion around their waists that the titles are going to be in their possession after next week.

Matt Hardy retained the title but the fans wanted five more minutes which the referee wouldn't grant.

Interview:
A hype video is shown of a wrestler coming to ECW by the name of Elijah Burke. The video spotlights his record as an amateur boxer in the Jacksonville area. Elijah Burke talked about his record as an amateur boxer being 98-1 and said the only reason he lost a fight was because he knocked his opponent out and refused to go back in his corner. Elijah Burke held up his right arm which showed his wristband that had "4-Up" written on it. It means four knuckles upside your head and Elijah Burke promised that many ECW wrestlers will know what that feels like soon enough.

The Impact Players (Justin Credible and Lance Storm) and C.W. Anderson defeated CM Punk, Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman when Credible pinned Punk with the That's Incredible in 0:07:32.
Rating: *** 1/4

The mystery partner of Justin Credible and C.W. Anderson was none other than Credible's former tag team partner with The Impact Players, Lance Storm! The two worked well as a team again. C.W. Anderson went right after Tommy Dreamer as the feud these two had during the last days of the original ECW must've still been unsettled. The Sandman entered the ring and accidentally hit CM Punk with the singapore cane when Justin Credible moved out of the way. Lance Storm entered the ring and superkicked a shocked Sandman down to the mat. Justin Credible picked CM Punk up and executed That's Incredible to get the three count. Tommy Dreamer was unable to break the pin up because he was fighting it out with C.W. Anderson through the crowd.

Interview:
The ECW World Tag Team Champions MNM are walking backstage and walk up to The Hooliganz who are preparing for their match against them in the main event. MNM makes fun of Brian Kendrick and Paul London and tell them it is hopeless for them to defeat MNM in anything. They offer the opinion that The Hooliganz should leave ECW if they lose to MNM tonight because they just wouldn't have what it took to ever beat MNM for the titles. The Hooliganz decline because they are going to shut MNM up and take the titles tonight.

Ric Flair pinned William Regal after a backslide in 0:18:34.
Rating: ****

This was Ric Flair's first match in ECW and it did not disappoint as his opponent was William Regal. Last week, William Regal and D.H. Smith attacked Ric Flair backstage as he was talking with Paul Heyman. These two put on a wrestling clinic, which shows that ECW is not just about hardcore and weapons. The end to this match happened when Ric Flair countered William Regal's back bodydrop attempt with a backslide for the three count.

After the match, Kurt Angle, Stevie Richards and Val Venis entered the ring and attacked Ric Flair. Kurt Angle brought two chair into the ring and set them up so they were facing each other. Kurt Angle motioned that he wanted to hit the Angle Slam on Ric Flair onto the chairs. He wouldn't get the opportunity as the lights turned off. When the lights turned back on a few moments later, Sabu and Rob Van Dam were in the ring and they threw chairs at Val Venis and Stevie Richards, with Rob Van Dam hitting the Van Daminator to Stevie Richards. Kurt Angle had already dropped Ric Flair on the mat and left the ring while the lights were off, figuring something was up. Ric Flair thanked Sabu and Rob Van Dam for their help as the show went to a commercial break.

Interview:
Aaron Stevens is shown backstage yelling at Kelly Kelly about what happened last week when he lost to Jamie Noble in his debut match. He is furious that Kelly Kelly's inability to keep her clothes on distracted him to the point where a loser like Jamie Noble could beat him. Jamie Noble walked up to the two and said hi to Kelly Kelly. Jamie Noble asked Aaron Stevens if he got beat by a "loser" wouldn't that make him a loser too. Aaron Stevens was irate and challenged Jamie Noble to another match for next week. A now confident Jamie Noble accepted the challenge. Before leaving, Jamie Noble made fun of Aaron Stevens by reminding him of something he was told by Aaron Stevens: women like Kelly Kelly don't date losers.

CM Punk is in the lockerroom packing his gear up when The Sandman entered. Obviously, he tried to make amends for accidentally hitting CM Punk with the singapore cane in their six man tag team match earlier. CM Punk sarcastically laughed and said that The Sandman should've watched where he was swinging the cane. CM Punk wondered if The Sandman was even sober during the match because he certainly wasn't coherent enough to not hit him with the singapore cane. The Sandman apologized again but CM Punk said he's not mad. Instead, CM Punk said he has come to a realization and maybe the singapore cane shot has awaken him to it.

Axl Rotten talked about Brent Albright and how he claims to be tougher than all the ECW originals yet if he is tough, why would he need to attack him from behind before their match last week? Axl Rotten wants Brent Albright in the ring one more time and this time, he wants to wrestle him face to face. Brent Albright suddenly attacked Axl Rotten from behind with a chair and laid him out with repeated chair shots to the head. Brent Albright looked into the camera and yelled about if this was the best the original ECW had to offer because no one has proved him to not be better than them. As for Axl's challenge? Brent Albright accepted the challenge but warned that the beating he will receive next week will make what happened tonight seem tame by comparison.

An irritated Paul Heyman is standing in front of an ECW banner. He's been told by the powers that be that ECW must tone down its hardcore style because the Sci-Fi Network is getting uncomfortable with it. Don't they realize that toning down ECW is an oxy moron? The compromise that was made between Paul Heyman, Shane McMahon and the Sci-Fi Network is that all ECW matches must have standard rules like disqualifications and countouts. However, ECW will be allowed one "extreme rules" match per show. Paul Heyman said that he is not happy with the decision but on the other hand, the return of ECW is more than just the hardcore style that put the promotion on the map. Already in over two months, the relaunch of ECW has proved that they have the best brawlers, the best tag teams, and the best technicians in the industry. Paul Heyman promised that nothing will stop the momentum ECW has, not the WWE, not Shane McMahon, and especially not the Sci-Fi Network!

(The Hooliganz won the ECW World Tag Team Titles.)
[Melina interfered against Paul London.]

These two teams finally had their first one on one match in ECW and the stakes were as high as it gets for the tag team division. MNM, as the ECW World Tag Team Champions, entered this match very confident of their abilities but so too did The Hooliganz. Melina interjected herself into this match but it backfired in a major way for her team. Melina entered the ring with a chair and tried to hit Paul London with it. Instead, Paul London moved out of the way and the chair connected with Joey Mercury. Paul London kissed Melina and threw her out of the ring. Brian Kendrick entered the ring and dropkicked Johnny Nitro out of the ring. Paul London took advantage of the interference by going to the top rope to hit the Calling London shooting star press to get the three count and win the ECW World Tag Team Titles for The Hooliganz.

After the match, The Hooliganz were handed the belts and celebrated their victory by going into the crowd and raising their newly won belts high in the air. The fans were solidly behind The Hooliganz during the match and The Hooliganz wanted to thank them. The show went off the air with The Hooliganz continuing their celebration.

Everything is booked. I would get unfavorable results if I didn't book it and I would rather have control instead of surprises.

I'd say I follow the same formula you do actually. I just wouldn't have a main event angle be unbooked. The undercard is different, especially if I'm unsure of how to proceed with it.

I usually don't care much for relaunch type feds.  Not so much because they're particularly bad or anything, but because I prefer from scratch type booking.  That being said, so far so good.  This almost seems like a different circuit altogether just based on the addition of official TV and tag titles for ECW.  I'm interested to see where you will be taking this.

Interview:
CM Punk said after the singapore cane he took from The Sandman last week, which he admitted was an accident, it knocked some sense into him. A major reason he's in ECW is because he respected the original ECW and wanted to compete against its very best. One of those big names is The Sandman. CM Punk talked about how The Sandman helped him get into the business and how grateful he was for the help. However, CM Punk has a competitive nature and he has to prove that he is better than The Sandman. What he wants is a match against The Sandman next week. The Sandman made his entrance and came to the ring. The Sandman said he saw a lot of potential in CM Punk as he was coming into the business. It's cliche, but The Sandman said he thinks CM Punk could be the future of ECW. The Sandman said it would be a honor to wrestle him next week. The Sandman warned CM Punk to not expect a wrestling match. It's going to be a fight, it's going to be hardcore, but most of all it would be extreme! CM Punk said he would have it no other way and the two shook hands before leaving the ring.

D.H. Smith pinned Mikey Whipwreck with the Stampede Powerslam in 0:03:09.
Rating: ** 1/4

D.H. Smith gets yet another victory in ECW as he defeated Mikey Whipwreck with the Stampede Powerslam. After the match, William Regal got on the microphone to talk about how proud he is of his apprentice D.H. Smith and the progress he's made. Regal said that as a team, they are an even stronger force. He congratulated The Hooliganz on winning the ECW World Tag Team Titles but warned them that the British are coming for them.

Interview:
The ECW World Television Champion Matt Hardy said he respected Shelton Benjamin for the challenge he gave him last week. Despite the match ending in a time limit draw, Matt Hardy said he is still the ECW World Television Champion and can't change the fact that the match ended in a time limit draw. Matt Hardy said if Shelton Benjamin wanted to challenge him for the title again, he can have it anytime because that is the kind of competitor he is.

Jamie Noble pinned Aaron Stevens after a small package in 0:05:25.
Rating: * 3/4

Before the match, Aaron "The Idol" Stevens handcuffed Kelly Kelly to a ringpost to ensure she would not be able to distract him with her stripping hobby. Aaron Stevens looked strong throughout the match and it looked as if Jamie Noble's victory over him last week was indeed just a fluke. That is, until Aaron Stevens' ego got the better of him. After hitting what he calls the Menage-A-Trois which is a series of three vertical suplexes, he signalled for his finisher, the Idolizer. However, instead of executing the move, he took valuable time to trash talk the fans and to talk to his girlfriend Kelly Kelly. When Aaron Stevens was finally ready to hit his finisher, Jamie Noble was ready to counter with a small package to get the three count.

After the match, Jamie Noble quickly left the ring but not before flashing a smile at Kelly Kelly, which was returned as well. In the ring, Aaron Stevens was obviously angry about the result of the match. He took it out on Kelly Kelly by uncuffing her and roughly dragging her with him down the aisle as the crowd chanted "loser" towards him.

Interview:
Highlights are shown from last week's ECW World Tag Team Title match that had The Hooliganz defeat MNM to win the titles. After the highlights are shown, Paul London and Brian Kendrick talk about how excited they were to be the champions and that the fans were their tag team partner in the win. They even complimented their rivals MNM on their title reign but said that The Hooliganz were going to raise the bar a notch. Paul London made sure to comment about how not only how they won the titles but that he even got a kiss from Melina in the process.

The reigning ECW World Champion Kurt Angle entered Paul Heyman's office to complain about Ric Flair. He felt that all the hoopla being given to Ric Flair is undeserved and disrespectful to him. If Paul Heyman truly believed Kurt Angle was the cornerstone of ECW, he wouldn't have brought someone like Ric Flair in, who wants his title. Paul Heyman said he brought Kurt Angle in because he is the cornerstone of ECW and not only that but because he is a competitor. Having a wrestler like Ric Flair in ECW can only benefit Kurt Angle. If Kurt Angle believes he is the man, Paul Heyman asserts that Kurt Angle should have no problem defending the title against him and defeating him. But instead, he brought in two cowards like Val Venis and Stevie Richards to do his bidding. Val Venis and Stevie Richards over hear this as they walk in and said they were no cowards. Paul Heyman said he was sorry and said if they aren't cowards they should have no problem facing Rob Van Dam and Sabu in a Tables Match in the main event. They agree reluctantly as Kurt Angle stared them down to ensure he wasn't associated with cowards.

Shelton Benjamin talked about last week's ECW World Television Title match against Matt Hardy and how frustrated he was at the match ending in a draw. Shelton Benjamin said that if there had been five more minutes added onto the match he could've beat Matt Hardy. That's all Shelton Benjamin wants. Five more minutes against Matt Hardy. That's the challenge Shelton Benjamin has given to Matt Hardy. He wants a 15 minute time limit match against Matt Hardy for the ECW World Television Title.

Tommy Dreamer talked about how proud he is of the way ECW has returned to the wrestling landscape. While his dream of ECW returning has become a reality, it's not his only dream. Now that ECW is back, he is not just satisfied with being an ECW original and considered a throwback. Tommy Dreamer wants to win the ECW World Title for a second time. How's he going to get a title shot? Tommy Dreamer is going to do it the hard way by going all the way to the top. He asked for and was granted a non-title match against Kurt Angle for next week. If he can defeat Kurt Angle, he'll be given a title shot the next week.

Brent Albright made Axl Rotten submit to a Fujiwara armbar in 0:06:11.
Rating: ***

The tide of the match turned when Axl Rotten attempted an armdrag takedown only to have Brent Albright counter it with a fujiwara armbar. With the move locked in the middle of the ring, Axl Rotten had no choice but to submit. Brent Albright picked up another victory over an ECW original and another win over Axl Rotten.

Interview:
Another promo video is shown hyping the debut of Elijah Burke to ECW. This time Elijah Burke talked about how he might be tough but he has a heart of gold. He respected the original ECW and when he makes his debut, he will make sure anyone that doesn't respect it will be "4-Up". In other words, four knuckles upside their head!

Kurt Angle is back in Paul Heyman's office and wants to know if he really did grant Tommy Dreamer a match with him for next week. Paul Heyman said he did because he respected Tommy Dreamer wanting to prove he still had it against the very best. Paul Heyman also warned Kurt Angle to not interfere in the main event. Kurt Angle scoffed at Paul Heyman but Heyman again warned him to stay away or else.

Table Match:
Rob Van Dam and Sabu defeated Team Angle (Stevie Richards and Val Venis) when RVD defeated S. Richards by putting him through a table in 0:15:25.
Rating: ***

Ric Flair joined Joey Styles and Tazz to call guest color commentary for the match. Rob Van Dam and Sabu hit the Five Star Frog Splash and the Arabian Facebuster on Stevie Richards and Val Venis respectively through tables to win the match. After the match, Ric Flair got up from the announce table and clapped his hands for Rob Van Dam and Sabu winning the match against Team Angle. He is suddenly attacked by Kurt Angle. He takes him to the aisle and hits the Angle Slam onto the aisle. Rob Van Dam and Sabu notice what is going on and run down the aisle. Kurt Angle leaves before they can get to him. Paul Heyman walked out and said he warned Kurt Angle to not get involved in the main event in any way. Paul Heyman announced that not only will Kurt Angle face Tommy Dreamer in a match where if Dreamer defeated Angle he would get a title shot, but the special guest referee will be Ric Flair!

Another good card.  I like how things are building and you're getting everyone involved without it getting oversaturated.  I'm predicting a CM Punk turn soon, and I like the angle going with Hardy/Benjamin.  Angle is a good champion and I don't foresee him losing any time soon, and it's good to see Venis and Richards being used well (not that I use Stevie well at all, but he does rule).

Thank you, Ryan. The framework was provided by Gabe Sapolsky from Guest Booker, so that helped a lot. But he only gave a general overview so this is my attempt at filling in the holes between June and the December pay per view.

And yes, your hunch about CM Punk is correct. Had they booked ECW the right way, CM Punk would've had ready made feuds with the ECW originals for months. Hindsight's 50/50 but I think anyone could've booked a more compelling ECW brand. While I have the luxury of not dealing with Vince's ego, Gabe's ideas for the ECW relaunch really seem like the best way the real promotion should've gone.

This is some really good stuff. Do you plan on going beyond December? With Saplosky's framework in place, it would be interesting to see what you do to add to it and beyond.

Like Gabe said during the DVD after booking the pay per view, "there's life after pay per view." He booked such a compelling PPV in December that I have no doubt it could've made the brand much more popular than it is now.

I've also noticed that by going to a summary style I've been able to get more cards booked.

Oh please. Looking at your WWF 1993 circuit you could easily do better than what I am doing. I don't think because I'm using Gabe's framework that it precludes anyone from trying a circuit like this out. It's all about how you get to December. I'm sure there are different ways of going about it with booking the shows.

Besides, I love reading ECW relaunch circuits because I think anyone could do a better job in re-establishing the promotion. Plus, you already had a really good ECW circuit. No harm in trying another.

Number-One-Contenders-Match with Special Referee Ric Flair:
Tommy Dreamer pinned Kurt Angle with the Dreamer DDT in 0:11:29.
Rating: **** 1/4

After last week, you would think Ric Flair would've been biased in his officiating. Instead, he called the match down the middle. However, after Kurt Angle got in his face more times than he should have, Ric Flair had had enough of the ECW World Champion. Kurt Angle hit the Angle Slam on Tommy Dreamer and went for the pin. Luckily, Tommy Dreamer was near the ropes and Ric Flair spotted his left leg under the rope, which meant the pin had to be broken. Kurt Angle was enraged at Ric Flair for not counting to three and got in his face. As Kurt Angle turned around, Ric Flair hit him with a low blow. A stunned Kurt Angle walked right into a Dreamer DDT. Ric Flair made a quick three count to give Tommy Dreamer the win over the ECW World Champion Kurt Angle!

Val Venis and Stevie Richards ran down to the ring after the match but Tommy Dreamer and Ric Flair held them off and sent them out of the ring. Venis and Richards pulled Kurt Angle out of the ring before Flair and Dreamer can turn their attention on him.

Interview:
Another Elijah Burke promo aired hyping his upcoming debut to ECW. Elijah Burke said that the time has almost come to show ECW what 4-Up is all about.

A video package aired spotlighting the ECW career of The Sandman. The career retrospective covered his ECW World Title victories, his major feuds, and the interview from last week where CM Punk challenged The Sandman to a match for tonight. Afterwards, The Sandman gave a short promo where he said that CM Punk might be the future of ECW but he has to get through him before he can define himself as being extreme.

The Hooliganz (Paul London and Brian Kendrick) defeated The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke) when P. London pinned Little Guido after an inside cradle in 0:13:58.
Rating: *** 3/4
(The Hooliganz retained the ECW World Tag Team Titles.)
[Trinity interfered against Paul London.]

The Hooliganz first title defense was successful against The Full Blooded Italians. London and Kendrick used teamwork at the end to win the match when Brian Kendrick entered the ring and hit Little Guido with a superkick while Paul London followed with an inside cradle to get the three count. After the match, William Regal and D.H. Smith challenged The Hooliganz to defend the titles against them. Before The Hooliganz could answer, MNM rushed out and attacked William Regal and D.H. Smith. MNM must be taking offense to another team trying to get a title shot before them. The Hooliganz told them to stop fighting because they are so confident in themselves, they will defend the titles against both teams in a Three Way Dance!

Interview:
Rob Van Dam, Sabu, and Ric Flair are backstage laughing it up after what happened to Kurt Angle earlier. Rob Van Dam said that the ECW fans haven't heard much from him lately but it's all good. He's keeping himself out of trouble and ready to climb his way back up the ladder to become the ECW World Champion. After all, if climbing ladders is what he has to do to get another ECW World Title shot, it should be no problem because nobody gets higher than Rob Van Dam, even if it gets him into trouble sometimes. Ric Flair said he told Kurt Angle to not question his authority as a referee. The next time they are in the ring, Ric Flair promised that Kurt Angle will be on the mat submitting to the Figure Four and losing the ECW World Title to him. The segment ended with Ric Flair doing his trademarked woo and Sabu repying by doing his trademarked pointing up to the sky. They did this for a few moments before going into the next segment.

Tommy Dreamer said that regardless of how he won the match, he defeated the ECW World Champion Kurt Angle, arguably the greatest wrestler in the world today. Next week, he now has the opportunity to win his second ECW World Title if he can defeat Kurt Angle. Tommy Dreamer promised to give Kurt Angle a challenge he might not expect from him. Val Venis and Stevie Richards suddenly attack Tommy Dreamer and quickly overpower him to the ground. Stevie Richards held Tommy Dreamer down as Val Venis repeatedly used a chair on Dreamer's right ankle. The Team Angle contingent leave but not before Stevie Richards sarcastically wished Tommy Dreamer good luck next week.

Brent Albright boasted that he has proven what he says, is what he does. He has said that he is the toughest man in ECW and that he could prove it over the ECW Originals. According to Brent Albright, he's only getting warmed up.

Aaron "The Idol" Stevens is outside the ECW Arena with Kelly Kelly. He is sick and tired about Jamie Noble. Losing to Jamie Noble two weeks in a row was not how The Idol anticipated his debut in ECW going. Kelly Kelly questioned Aaron Stevens that maybe Jamie Noble is better than he gave him credit for. Aaron Stevens scoffed at that as being impossible. A fan walked up to the two with an ECW magazine. Being the pompous individual he is, Aaron Stevens thought the fan wanted his autograph. Instead, the fan said he actually wanted Jamie Noble's autograph and just wanted to ask him where he could find him. An irritated Aaron Stevens led the fan up to the ECW Arena but then attacked the fan and even hit the Idolizer.

Shelton Benjamin pinned Al Snow with the T-Bone in 0:04:04.
Rating: ** 1/2

The ECW World Television Champion Matt Hardy joined Joey Styles and Tazz for guest color commentary. Joey Styles mentioned Shelton Benjamin's challenge for a 15 minute time limit match for the title. Matt Hardy said he is obligated to defend the title next week against Jamie Noble but made it official that in two weeks he will defend the title against Shelton Benjamin in a 15 minute time limit match. This match served as a showcase of Shelton Benjamin's abilities. He noticed Matt Hardy was at ringside calling the match and you could tell he wanted to send a message to Matt Hardy with this match. Shelton Benjamin put Al Snow away with the T-Bone Suplex. After the match, Shelton Benjamin made a belt motion around his waist and yelled at him that he wanted five more minutes. Once Shelton Benjamin watches this match after the show, he'll realize that Matt Hardy has accepted his challenge.

Interview:
CM Punk said that tonight's match against The Sandman is the biggest of his career. While he respected everything about the original ECW, he is all about competition. His competitive nature makes it so that he has to prove he is better than the best. The Sandman represented the original ECW. CM Punk insisted that he must defeat The Sandman to prove he belongs in ECW.

[Extreme Rules Match]:
The Sandman pinned CM Punk with the White Russian Legsweep in 0:17:22.
Rating: **** 1/2

The Sandman defeated CM Punk after using the singapore cane and then following up with the White Russian Legsweep. The Extreme Rules stipulation helped The Sandman gain more of an advantage over the more technically sound CM Punk. After the match, as a disappointed CM Punk went to leave the ring, The Sandman pulled him back in. The Sandman got on the microphone and said that despite losing, CM Punk is the future of ECW and he belongs here. The Sandman said he wanted to celebrate so he grabbed a beer and came back into the ring. CM Punk spotted the beer can and obviously declined and went to leave again. The Sandman popped open the beer can and pulled CM Punk back in again. The Sandman said the beer isn't for CM Punk but for him. The Sandman raised the beer up in the air and wasn't careful handling it as some of the beer spilled on CM Punk's shoulder. This infuriated CM Punk and he proceeded to beatdown on The Sandman!

CM Punk whipped The Sandman into the corner and hit him with a high knee in the face. CM Punk hit a move called Go 2 Sleep that knocked him out to the mat. Not happy with just knocking The Sandman out, CM Punk left the ring but came back in with a steel chair. He proceeded to hit The Sandman with repeated chairshots until The Sandman began to bleed from his forehead. The fans, who had cheered CM Punk moments before, were solidly against him now. The show ended with CM Punk standing over The Sandman with his arms crossed in the straight edge sign.

The stories keep moving along.  Don't see Dreamer winning the World Title obviously, but it will be interesting to see what direction it does go.  Also, Hardy vs. Benjamin is going to be good, and the tag title situation is simple but effective right now, and you can't beat that.

A recap of last week's main event is shown with The Sandman defeating CM Punk in their first encounter in ECW. More importantly, the post match events are shown with The Sandman accidentally spilling some beer on CM Punk and the resulting attack of The Sandman by CM Punk.

CM Punk opened ECW already standing in the ring with a microphone. The fans have changed their tune with CM Punk as they now mostly boo him. CM Punk said that last week while he might have lost to The Sandman, he also won. Last week marked the beginning of the end of the original ECW. It marked a new dawn and a start of a new revolution. Gone will be those who pollute the minds of today's youth with thoughts that smoking, doing drugs, and drinking yourself into a drunken stupor is somehow cool. In its place will be honor, integrity, and respect. But most of all, it will be a straight edge lifestyle that the fans can model their own pathetic lives after in order to be more like CM Punk. After all, as CM Punk put it to end the interview, straight edge means he's better than you.

Three Way Dance:
The Hooliganz (Paul London and Brian Kendrick) defeated D.H. Smith and William Regal and MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro):
x Nitro beat W. Regal via the Snapping Front Flip Neckbreaker in  0:09:34
x P. London beat Nitro via a roll up in 0:18:24
Rating: ***
(The Hooliganz retained the ECW World Tag Team Titles.)
[Melina interfered against D.H. Smith.]

Last week, The Hooliganz granted both D.H. Smith/William Regal and MNM a match against them at the same time in a Three Way Dance. That's two title defenses in two weeks by The Hooliganz which shows that they are indeed fighting champions as they said they would be. D.H. Smith and William Regal had a hard time dealing with the high flying antics of both MNM and The Hooliganz to start out. They never had the chance to slow the match down and isolate either partner from both teams with their strong style brawling. The first elimination occurred when Johnny Nitro hit his Snapping Front Flip Neckbreaker maneuver on William Regal to get the three count. This left the match down to the bitter rivals of The Hooliganz and MNM. Lots of high flying action that had the crowd on their feet throughout the remaining portion of the match. Melina got onto the ring apron at one point to distract Paul London. Instead of being much of a distraction, Paul London once again grabbed Melina and kissed her. An enraged Johnny Nitro ran towards him attempting a clothesline but Paul London ducked out of the way and instead Nitro hit Melina, knocking her onto the concrete floor! Melina was out cold on the outside of the ring. While Johnny Nitro looked down at Melina, Paul London capitalized by using a roll up to surprise him with a three count!

Interview:
Rob Van Dam talked with Paul Heyman about his hiatus from a few weeks ago and said that time away shouldn't keep him from being a top challenger for the ECW World Title. The fact is, if it wasn't for Stevie Richards slamming the cage door in his face, he'd be the ECW World Champion right now. Paul Heyman told Rob Van Dam that is true and that his time away from ECW hasn't changed his importance to the promotion either. Paul Heyman told Rob Van Dam that he will make a major announcement tonight as far as the ECW World Title is concerned.

Kelly Kelly wished Jamie Noble good luck in his match against Matt Hardy tonight for the ECW World Television Title. Jamie Noble credited Kelly Kelly for his amazing turnaround in ECW. Although, Jamie Noble wondered why Kelly Kelly would stay with such a jerk like Aaron Stevens. She said it was complicated but wouldn't give Jamie Noble an explanation.

Tommy Dreamer said that despite the attack from Val Venis and Stevie Richards last week, he will be ready to challenge Kurt Angle for the ECW World Title. Tommy Dreamer admitted that while he is favoring his right ankle, he's not going to let that get in the way of winning the ECW World Title for a second time.

Brent Albright talked about CM Punk's turn against The Sandman last week and how happy he was to see that someone else finally realized how pathetic the ECW Originals were. While he did say that he is no fan of CM Punk, as he briefly mentioned some differences they had in another promotion, he does respect him more than all the ECW Originals. Brent Albright once again issued another challenge to any ECW Original to prove that they are tougher than him. No ECW Original has proven that to him and there is no one in ECW that can do that, according to him.

Matt Hardy pinned Jamie Noble after a tilt-a-whirl suplex in 0:08:03.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Matt Hardy retained the ECW World Television Title.)

Shelton Benjamin joined Joey Styles and Tazz to call guest color commentary and to also scout Matt Hardy for his rematch next week for the ECW World Television Title. Jamie Noble put up more of a challenge this week than he did previously when he challenged Matt Hardy for the ECW World Television Title. He even managed to get a few near falls that put a scare into Matt Hardy before he was able to take control of the match again. Matt Hardy once again retained the title after hitting a tilt-a-whirl suplex for the three count. After the match, Aaron Stevens hit the ring and attacked Jamie Noble. He pummelled him with left and rights before hitting the Menage-a-Trois. Matt Hardy ran back down to the ring and chased Aaron Stevens out of the ring. Shelton Benjamin acted like he was going to enter the ring but thought better of it. He made a motion around his waist that the belt is coming to him since he now has 15 minutes to try and beat Matt Hardy.

Interview:
Another Elijah Burke promo is shown where he said next week is when he will make his ECW debut. Next week, according to Elijah Burke, somebody is going to find out what "4-Up" is all about.

Kurt Angle made Tommy Dreamer submit to the Ankle Lock in 0:11:15.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Kurt Angle retained the ECW World Title.)

Tommy Dreamer favored his right ankle as the match began thanks to the attack by Team Angle against him last week. Kurt Angle capitalized on this throughout the match to set up his submission hold, the Ankle Lock. Tommy Dreamer had no choice but to submit to avoid further injury. After the bell rang, however, Kurt Angle refused to let go of the Ankle Lock. Tommy Dreamer looked to be in a tremendous amount of pain as Kurt Angle yelled that he was going to break his ankle. Ric Flair ran down the aisle with a chair and chased Kurt Angle out of the ring. Paul Heyman walked out with a microphone and announced that next week there will be a Three Way Dance between Rob Van Dam, Sabu, and Ric Flair in an Extreme Rules Match where the winner would receive an ECW World Title
shot against Kurt Angle!

Matt Hardy and Shelton Benjamin battled to a draw in 0:15:00.

(Matt Hardy retained the ECW World Television Title.)

Once again these two wrestled and with five more minutes added to the standard ten minute time limit used for all ECW World Television Title matches. These two put in their A-games but it still was not enough to decide a winner. The match once again ended in a time limit draw. After the match, not only did Shelton Benjamin look frustrated with the result but so did Matt Hardy, who wanted to defeat Shelton Benjamin to prove a point to him and also because that's just the kind of competitor and champion he is.

Interview:
MNM and the team of D.H. Smith and William Regal entered Paul Heyman's office arguing with each other over who should be the top contenders for the ECW World Tag Team Titles held by The Hooliganz. Each team thought they had a better chance against The Hooliganz if they were the only team facing them, instead of a Three Way Dance. Paul Heyman solved the situation by booking a match for next week between MNM and the team of D.H. Smith and William Regal. The winner would become the number one contender for the ECW World Tag Team Titles.

Elijah Burke pinned Little Guido with the Elijah Express in 0:05:13.
Rating: *** 1/4

Elijah Burke finally made his ECW in-ring debut tonight in a match against Little Guido. The match showcased Elijah Burke's athleticism and shades of his amateur boxing career as he connected with a few lefts and rights to a dazed Little Guido. He also connected on a 4-Up combo which featured punches to Little Guido's torso and ended with a high impact uppercut. Elijah Burke was able to win in his debut by using a move he calls the Elijah Express. The Elijah Express is a running exposed double high knee that can be landed on the back of his opponent or on the chest.

Interview:
Aaron Stevens is with Kelly Kelly and asked her if she liked what he did to Jamie Noble last week. She shook her head no and he said it was too bad because she better get used to it. Her loyalty is to be with Aaron Stevens and him only.

CM Punk talked about how The Sandman represented everything that goes against his straight edge beliefs. The Sandman also reminds CM Punk of his father, who was an alcoholic during CM Punk's childhood. CM Punk was told that alcoholism could be hereditary. That was when he decided to turn to the straight edge lifestyle of no drugs, no smoking, and no alcohol. It was a wise decision according to CM Punk because now he is on the verge of leading a revolution in ECW to rid it of its negative influences like The Sandman.

Kurt Angle said he does not care who wins the Number One Contender Match tonight. He's beaten Rob Van Dam and Sabu before and he could defeat Ric Flair if he wins the match. In fact, Kurt Angle said he would absolutely love it if Ric Flair were to challenge him for the ECW World Title. Why? Because if Ric Flair should ever decide to step into the ring with Kurt Angle, he would hurt him so bad that Ric Flair would have to retire.

[Extreme Rules Match]: Three Way Dance:
Ric Flair defeated Sabu and Rob Van Dam:
x RVD beat Sabu via the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:15:34
x R. Flair beat RVD via a back suplex in 0:21:05
Rating: *** 3/4

Ric Flair was out of his element when competing in an Extreme Rules Match compared to veterans of the hardcore style like Rob Van Dam and Sabu. However, he adapted nicely to remain competitive throughout the match. Rob Van Dam got the first elimination after hitting the Five Star Frog Splash on Sabu. This took the match down to Rob Van Dam and Ric Flair. Rob Van Dam decided to take a risk by taking time to put Ric Flair on a table to attempt a Five Star Frog Splash through it. When Rob Van Dam attempted the move, Ric Flair moved out of the way and he went through the table. Ric Flair brought a chair into the ring and set it up. He then picked Rob Van Dam up and executed a back suplex onto the chair! Ric Flair went for the pin and got the three count.

After the match, Kurt Angle walked out from backstage, holding the ECW World Title high in the air as Ric Flair stared him down, looking at the championship that has eluded him during his career.

Interview:
Ric Flair opened ECW by telling the crowd that Rob Van Dam and Sabu gave him the toughest fight he's had in quite some time. But he managed to win the match by resorting to "extreme" tactics and in the process, earn the right to face Kurt Angle for his ECW World Title. Ric Flair continued by saying that Kurt Angle thinks he's the greatest world champion ever. With Ric Flair earning a title shot, Kurt Angle has the chance to prove he is the man by beating the man. Kurt Angle walked out and told Ric Flair that he can't wait to wrestle him because he will be the one to take him out of the sport for good. It's time for Ric Flair to step aside and acknowledge Kurt Angle as the greatest world champion and wrestler to ever step into the ring. Kurt Angle finished by telling Ric Flair that their match will be happening in two weeks on ECW Hardcore TV. He also warned the fans that they better enjoy Ric Flair in ECW while they can because Kurt Angle vowed Ric Flair will wrestle his last match if he stepped into the ring with him.

Number-One-Contenders-Match:
MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) defeated D.H. Smith and William Regal when Nitro pinned Smith after a vertical facebuster in 0:10:47.
Rating: ** 1/2
[Melina interfered against D.H. Smith.]

Once again, there is a clear number one contender for the ECW World Tag Team Titles that The Hooliganz currently own. Their challengers will be familiar foes as MNM will get another shot at becoming the ECW World Tag Team Champions for a second time after they were able to defeat D.H. Smith and William Regal. In this match where neither team are the most popular in ECW, the crowd did seem to favor MNM more. After MNM hit a double backdrop on D.H. Smith, Johnny Nitro hit a vertical facebuster to get the three count. After the match, MNM celebrated their victory while William Regal looked disappointed at D.H. Smith for losing the match and an opportunity for the team to receive a tag team title shot next week.

Interview:
A video package is shown highlighting the tension between The Sandman and CM Punk from several weeks ago. Then, we see CM Punk and The Sandman shaking hands when The Sandman accepted CM Punk's challenge for a match. After that match, The Sandman accidentally spilled some beer on CM Punk when he shotgunned a beer can. This prompted CM Punk to respond with a vicious attack that included the Go 2 Sleep maneuver and repeated chairshots to The Sandman's head that left him bleeding and laying on the mat out cold. The video package ended with an excerpt from last week where CM Punk talked about his attack against The Sandman bringing in a new dawn and a revolution to rid ECW of its excess and vice of the original ECW.

CM Punk made Al Snow submit to the Anaconda Vice in 0:07:09.
Rating: ***

The crowd was all over CM Punk in this match as they chanted for The Sandman. To his credit, CM Punk was completely focused on Al Snow in this match, trying to avoid the upset. There would be no upset as CM Punk showed why The Sandman did say he was the future of ECW. CM Punk caught Al Snow in an uranage and followed it by locking in the Anaconda Vice to make him submit quickly.

After the match, CM Punk got on the microphone and told the crowd they were wasting effort by chanting for The Sandman. The Sandman jumped over the ring barricade, and entered the ring from behind CM Punk. Before CM Punk can figure out what is going on, The Sandman smacked him with the singapore cane to the head. The Sandman brought a chair into the ring and hits the White Russian Legsweep onto it. Afterwards, The Sandman grabbed a can of beer and poured it on the unconscious body of CM Punk. If The Sandman had accidentally spilled beer on CM Punk a few weeks ago, this was no accident this week.

Interview:
Melina congratulated Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro on their victory tonight to earn another title shot against the ECW World Tag Team Champions, The Hooliganz. However, she warned them that this time they better win the titles back. Otherwise, all three of them could start to be turned down by the A-Listers in Hollywood. Johnny Nitro promised Melina that next week, MNM will be the ECW World Tag Team Champions once again. Also, he warned Paul London to keep his lips off of Melina because the next time he tries it, he'll be kissing a fist instead.

Elijah Burke talked about making his wrestling debut for ECW last week and how he showed Little Guido what 4-Up, four knuckles upside your head, was all about. Little Guido won't be the only one though. There's many in ECW that deserve the 4-Up treatment.

Jamie Noble asked Kelly Kelly what Aaron Stevens meant when he said her loyalty lied with him. Kelly Kelly said she couldn't tell him but it's enough to keep her with Aaron Stevens. When Jamie Noble pressed her on it, he was suddenly attacked from behind by Aaron Stevens with a chairshot to the back of his head. Aaron Stevens picked him up and yelled at him, asking if he really wanted to know, as he hit the Idolizer onto the hard cement floor. Aaron Stevens grabbed Kelly Kelly but not before telling an out cold Jamie Noble that he'll see him in the ring next week.

The ECW World Television Champion Matt Hardy talked about his match against Shelton Benjamin ending in another time limit draw, even with five more minutes being added to the standard ten minute limit for TV Title defenses. Matt Hardy said as frustrated as Shelton Benjamin might be at their matches ending in time limit draws, he is more frustrated because as the champion, he wants to prove he is better than his challenger. Being the champion he is, Matt Hardy said he will be petitioning Paul Heyman to sign another match but this time he wanted a twenty minute time limit.

Brent Albright made Mikey Whipwreck submit to the Crowbar in 0:05:46.
Rating: ** 1/4

Brent Albright had no problem defeating Mikey Whipwreck, another ECW original. After hitting the belly-to-back suplex, Brent Albright locked in the Crowbar to make Mikey Whipwreck submit. After the match, Brent Albright wasn't satisfied with simply defeating Mikey Whipwreck, a former ECW World Champion. He wanted to injure him. Brent Albright brought a chair into the ring and he hit another belly-to-back suplex onto the chair. Albright went back to the Crowbar and wouldn't let go. That is, until Tommy Dreamer ran down to the ring to make the save. Brent Albright wanted no part of the ECW icon and decided to simply leave the ring.

Tommy Dreamer told Brent Albright he was sick and tired of him putting down all the ECW originals. If it weren't for the ECW originals, there would be no ECW today and Brent Albright would be back on Smackdown! as Gunner Scott. Tommy Dreamer issued a challenge to Brent Albright for a match but it wasn't answered by Brent Albright as he waved Tommy Dreamer off as he went backstage.

Interview:
An angry CM Punk stormed into Paul Heyman's office demanding a match against The Sandman for next week after what happened earlier when The Sandman poured beer on him. Paul Heyman said that maybe he had that coming to him after what he did to The Sandman a few weeks ago. CM Punk told Paul Heyman that nobody in ECW would compromise his values and integrity anymore. Paul Heyman granted CM Punk the match against The Sandman next week in an Extreme Rules Match. Before leaving, CM Punk reminded Paul Heyman of his revolution against the original ECW and how he is going to bring a new dawn to the filth Paul Heyman created.

Rob Van Dam pinned Stevie Richards with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:11:36.
Rating: *** 3/4

A few months ago, Stevie Richards turned his back on Rob Van Dam and joined forces with Kurt Angle when he slammed the cage door in RVD's face, allowing Kurt Angle to escape the cage and retain his title. Ever since then, Rob Van Dam has wanted a one on one match against Stevie Richards to seek revenge. Whenever you fight one member of Team Angle, you tend to fight the other two as well. That was no different in this match. However, the outside interference from Val Venis backfired. Val Venis got up on the ring apron with a chair and tried to throw it to Stevie but instead RVD caught it, threw it back to Stevie and hit the Van Daminator. The referee admonished Val Venis and sent him backstage. Rob Van Dam went to the top turnbuckle and hit the Five Star Frog Splash to get the three count.

Match observations:

It has been announced by ECW General Manager Paul Heyman that next week, the ECW World Television Champion Matt Hardy will defend his title against a mystery opponent. The only hint Paul Heyman would provide as to the identity of Matt Hardy's opponent was that his opponent was a former ECW World Television Champion.

Angle/Flair will be great.  I'm fighting the urge not to hire Flair for GCW now after the retirement stuff, but I'm going to stay the course for now, but definitely looking forward to that one.

I like Regal as Smith's tutor.  We know it's leading to Regal finally berating him too much and the inevitable match, but it's a time-tested angle that should get the Canadian Bulldog over.

I'm not big on Aaron Stevens, but I like the angle with Noble.  I predict Kelly Kelly will turn on Noble in the end, but I am looking forward to the journey.

I like the Punk angle as well.  I seem to like a lot here, hehe.  Punk trying to go through the Originals will have to hit a buzzsaw soon.

I smell an Albright/Punk alliance soon against the Originals.

Good main event to end the show.  Booya, sir, booya.

Matt Hardy pinned Too Cold Scorpio after a flying legdrop in 0:09:18.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Matt Hardy retained the ECW World Television Title.)

The mystery opponent for Matt Hardy was a definite surprise as former ECW World Television Champion, Too Cold Scorpio, challenged the champion. Too Cold Scorpio has lost a step or two since the last time the ECW Arena fans last watched him wrestle but he was still a formidable opponent for Matt Hardy. It looked as if Too Cold Scorpio would do the unthinkable and defeat Matt Hardy as he motioned for his finisher, the 450 Splash. As Too Cold Scorpio leaped off the top turnbuckle, Matt Hardy rolled out of the way, leaving Too Cold Scorpio to hit the mat roughly. Matt Hardy went to the top turnbuckle and hit a flying legdrop to get the three count.

After the match, Shelton Benjamin didn't give Matt Hardy much time to celebrate as he wanted another match for the ECW World Television Title. Matt Hardy said that he is a man of his word. He went to Paul Heyman and asked for and received a 20 minute time limit match against Shelton Benjamin dependant on if he won tonight. As everyone just watched, Matt Hardy defeated Too Cold Scorpio and retained the title. Matt Hardy told Shelton Benjamin that he has to defeat him. Shelton Benjamin told Matt Hardy that he will defeat him to win the ECW World Television Title next week.

Aaron Stevens pinned Jamie Noble with the Idolizer in 0:05:08.
Rating: *** 1/4

The feud between these two has been well documented over the past several weeks. Just last week, as Jamie Noble tried to get Kelly Kelly to open up to him about what Aaron Stevens had on her, he was attacked by Aaron Stevens and laid out with an Idolizer onto the cement floor. Jamie Noble seeked to gain some revenge against Aaron Stevens as Kelly Kelly watched on. During the match, Aaron Stevens handcuffed Kelly Kelly to the ringpost after he noticed her cheering for Jamie Noble. Aaron Stevens attempted to hit the Menage-a-Trois on Jamie Noble but he reversed it into a series of german suplexes of his own. Jamie Noble looked down at Aaron Stevens and then back at Kelly Kelly and decided to try to get her out of the handcuffs instead of going for the pin. As Jamie Noble was trying to help Kelly Kelly, Aaron Stevens ran at him and hit a high knee to the back. This gave Aaron Stevens the opportunity he was looking for as he hit the Menage-a-Trois and followed it up with the Idolizer to get the victory.

After the match, Aaron Stevens took the key to the handcuffs out of his tights and uncuffed Kelly Kelly as they left to go backstage.

Interview:
In a pre-taped segment, Kurt Angle set up a sparring session in an empty ECW Arena to prepare for the defense of his ECW World Title against Ric Flair next week. His sparring partners? Fellow Team Angle members Val Venis and Stevie Richards. They are wearing the same singlets that Kurt Angle wears which made Stevie Richards look downright silly. To add extra insult, Val Venis and Stevie Richards are both wearing blonde wigs to imitate Ric Flair. This may seem like all fun and games but it's anything but to Kurt Angle. Kurt Angle wanted to start but Val Venis and Stevie Richards argued over who would spar with him first (with neither wanting to be the first one). Kurt Angle made the choice by grabbing Stevie Richards and hitting a belly-to-back suplex on him. He immediately locked in the Ankle Lock to which Stevie immediately tapped. Next was Val Venis and the two chain wrestled a bit before Kurt Angle got the upper hand and hit the Angle Slam. Again, Kurt Angle was able to apply the Ankle Lock to make Val Venis submit. Kurt Angle looked at the camera and told Ric Flair that he was only going at half speed in this workout. Just imagine what will happen when Kurt Angle is at 100%? Kurt Angle implored Ric Flair to not show up next week because if he does show up, it will be his last wrestling match and he won't be retiring on his own terms.

MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) defeated The Hooliganz (Paul London and Brian Kendrick) when Mercury pinned P. London after a vertical facebuster in 0:11:09.
Rating: *** 1/4
(MNM won the ECW World Tag Team Titles.)
[Melina interfered against Brian Kendrick.]

The rivalry between these two teams have been one of the many highlights seen in the relaunch of ECW to this point. Not only has it involved the switching of the ECW World Tag Team Titles but now includes some jealousy involving MNM's manager, Melina, after Paul London had stolen a kiss from her on two occassions. What resulted was another fantastic match between two of ECW's best tag teams. The action in this match was fast paced and if you blinked, you almost missed the ending. Paul London had Joey Mercury set up for a Northern Lights suplex but Mercury was able to get out of it and quickly counter with a vertical facebuster to get the three count! Paul London and Brian Kendrick were in shock as MNM celebrated their second ECW World Tag Team Title victory. To add insult to injury, Melina made some sarcastic kissing motions towards The Hooliganz as the victorious MNM left with their newly won championships.

Interview:
Ric Flair talked about how he is a 16 time World Champion, having won championships in the NWA, WCW, and the WWE. Yet, there is one championship that has eluded him his entire career and that is the ECW World Title. Ric Flair said that he's defeated some of the greats of professional wrestling to win those titles like Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Sting, and many more. Next week, Ric Flair intends to add Kurt Angle to that list of great wrestlers he has defeated in order to win his 17th World Championship.

CM Punk made The Sandman submit to the Anaconda Vice in 0:10:39.
Rating: ****

The hatred CM Punk has for The Sandman is well known by now. The Sandman represents everything against CM Punk's straight edge beliefs. Last week, The Sandman attacked CM Punk after the match and did the unthinkable as he poured beer on him. Because of those actions, CM Punk demanded this match and was granted it with extreme rules. This was not a match as much as it was all out warfare between two, completely different individuals. Both men were looking for revenge and perhaps both got it in some respect as each wore the crimson mask midway into the match. CM Punk took control of the match when he hit The Sandman with a kick to the back of his head as he was busy shotgunning a can of beer. CM Punk picked The Sandman up and hit the uranage onto a chair. This was followed by CM Punk locking in the Anaconda Vice on The Sandman who quickly submitted to the hold.

After the match, Brent Albright ran down to the ring with a chair to confront CM Punk. While it looked like past tension between the two would result in a fight, instead Brent Albright slammed the chair on an already overwhelmed Sandman, who was barely recovering from the match with CM Punk. CM Punk smiled and shook hands with Brent Albright before the two started to beatdown on The Sandman. The beatdown was ended as Tommy Dreamer ran out to make the save and chase CM Punk and Brent Albright out of the ring. The show ended with Tommy Dreamer yelling at Brent Albright that he wanted him in the ring next week to which Brent Albright accepted the challenge.

Interview:
The show begins with Joey Styles standing backstage with Paul Heyman to announce some breaking news. Joey Styles said that there was a development that happened earlier and Paul Heyman is here to explain. Paul Heyman said that tonight, Ric Flair was supposed to challenge Kurt Angle for the ECW World Title. Unfortunately, that match will not happen. Earlier today, Ric Flair was attacked backstage as he was taping a promo by Team Angle. The beatdown ended with Kurt Angle executing a piledriver on Ric Flair through a table, similar to what happened to him at the hands of Terry Funk in 1989. Ric Flair is currently in the hospital with what appears to be a broken neck. Paul Heyman apologized to Joey Styles and more importantly, to the fans in the ECW Arena and at home for not delivering on what was promised to them. However, Paul Heyman vowed to make up for this tonight.

[Extreme Rules Match]:
Sabu pinned C.W. Anderson with the Triple Jump Moonsault in 0:05:32.
Rating: *** 1/4

It's been a few weeks since Sabu has been on ECW Hardcore TV but he came back furiously this week against C.W. Anderson. Putting the odds further against him, C.W. Anderson had to face Sabu in an Extreme Rules Match. If C.W. Anderson was intimidated by Sabu, he didn't show it. But courage wouldn't be able to get him the victory this week. Sabu made use of the Extreme Rules by bringing a chair into the ring and hitting the Arabian Facebuster. He followed by setting the chair up and hitting the Triple Jump Moonsault to get the three count against C.W. Anderson.

Interview:
CM Punk and Brent Albright talked about their alliance formed out of disgust towards all things from the original ECW. CM Punk promised a revolution against the filth of the original ECW and no one can better help him at this than one of the best technical wrestlers in the world like Brent Albright. While Brent Albright said the two of them had issues dating back to their time in Ohio Valley Wrestling, now they are on the same page because they share the same goal: destroying the ECW originals and taking over the promotion to mold it into their vision of how it should be. CM Punk concluded the promo by stating that they were the New Breed of ECW and that they would be the ones to bring in the new dawn of ECW.

Matt Hardy, Jamie Noble and Elijah Burke defeated Shelton Benjamin, Aaron Stevens and Justin Credible when E. Burke pinned Credible with the Elijah Express in 0:08:04.
Rating: ** 1/2

It was announced during the match by Joey Styles that next week Matt Hardy will defend the ECW World Television Title against Shelton Benjamin with a 20 minute time limit. It was interesting to see Matt Hardy and Shelton Benjamin try to get a pinfall over the other but to no avail. Jamie Noble was intent on going after Aaron Stevens but The Idol avoided him by tagging out to one of his partners. The wrestler who really impressed in this match was Elijah Burke, who made his debut only a few weeks ago. Elijah Burke showcased his athleticism and high flying ability by hitting a moonsault to the outside of the ring onto his team's opponents (and even knocked Matt Hardy and Jamie Noble down indirectly). Elijah Burke would continue to impress by getting the winning pinfall on Justin Credible after hitting the Elijah Express and following it up with the Elijah Experience for the three count.

Interview:
William Regal and D.H. Smith are shown at a gym working out. However, a few moments into the workout, William Regal gets annoyed as some female fans ask D.H. Smith for an autograph which he gladly signs for them. Not surprisingly, none of them were interested in getting William Regal's autograph. William Regal told D.H. Smith that he has a lot of potential but had to focus. The more D.H. Smith loses focus, the more it hurts William Regal because they are a tag team and it leads to them losing. According to William Regal, if he continued to lack focus, he'll never be better than his father. D.H. Smith looked irritated at him resorting to that motivation, but he promised William Regal he will be on the same page with him in their next match.

The new ECW World Tag Team Champions, MNM, are shown in a Philadelphia night club celebrating their victory against The Hooliganz. Melina told Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury that once again they are the most requested trio at every club in the country after winning the ECW World Tag Team Titles again. Johnny Nitro mentioned that not only will Paul London never get a chance to kiss Melina again, but he'll never have another chance to kiss the titles away because they won't get them back. Joey Mercury suggested that they take Melina out to the dance floor and show her off. Once they are on the dance floor, two guys tap Nitro and Mercury on their shoulders. When they turned around, they were met with fists to the face from none other than Brian Kendrick and Paul London! They fight all over the dance floor and back to the bar where they knocked out some bottles from the shelves. Brian Kendrick hit a super kick on Joey Mercury while Paul London hit a Shooting Star Press from the bar onto Johnny Nitro who was lying on the floor. The segment ended with Paul London once again stealing a kiss from Melina before leaving with Brian Kendrick. Looks like MNM's victory celebration has been ruined!

Tommy Dreamer pinned Brent Albright after an inverted DDT in 0:12:27.
Rating: **** 1/4

This match has been brewing for months. Repeatedly, Brent Albright has challenged ECW originals to prove he is tougher than them and each time, he backed up his words. Tommy Dreamer was the heart and soul of the original ECW. Any insult to the promotion he takes as an insult to him. This match did not have Extreme Rules as a stipulation, so you would think Brent Albright would have the advantage with his superior technical skills. Instead, Tommy Dreamer held his own throughout the match which seemed to surprise Brent Albright. CM Punk came down to the ring to watch his New Breed partner. A frustrated Brent Albright threw Tommy Dreamer out of the ring and distracted the referee while CM Punk attacked Tommy Dreamer. This prompted The Sandman to run down the aisle and attack CM Punk with repeated singapore cane shots! The Sandman fought CM Punk through the crowd and away from the match. Once Tommy Dreamer got back into the ring, Brent Albright lazily picked Tommy Dreamer, thinking he was out of it from CM Punk's attack. Instead, as Brent Albright set Tommy Dreamer up for a belly-to-belly suplex only for it to be countered into an inverted DDT to get the three count!

After the match, Tommy Dreamer leaves the ring and celebrates in the crowd. Tommy Dreamer has won one for ECW! Brent Albright slowly gets to his feet only to realize the irony in the fact that he has been pinned for the first time in his ECW career by an ECW original.

Interview:
Team Angle comes down to the ring to gloat about what they did to Ric Flair. Kurt Angle said he warned Ric Flair the past few weeks to not show up to the ECW Arena or else he'd be retired by force. It's also revealed that there was video of the attack against Ric Flair as they hired a cameraman to record their beatdown of Ric Flair. Kurt Angle showed the video which indeed had Ric Flair going through a table via a piledriver from Kurt Angle. The gloating is ended when Paul Heyman walked out. Earlier tonight, Paul Heyman made a promise to the ECW fans that he would make up for Ric Flair not receiving his match tonight. Much to the chagrin of Kurt Angle, Paul Heyman announced that Kurt Angle will defend his ECW World Title against...Rob Van Dam!

Rob Van Dam defeated Kurt Angle by countout in 0:09:34.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Kurt Angle retained the ECW World Title.)

The crowd was pumped up for Rob Van Dam getting another chance at winning the ECW World Title. Kurt Angle seemed to be caught off guard by the late substitution of Rob Van Dam into this match. Rob Van Dam was determined to win the title tonight while Kurt Angle had a very cautious gameplan in play to try and hold onto the title for another week. The safe game plan would backfire as Rob Van Dam capitalized with his high risk offense. Rob Van Dam had Kurt Angle in the position to hit the Five Star Frog Splash but out ran Val Venis and Stevie Richards. The two pulled Kurt Angle out of the ring by the legs and they all left through the crowd. Rob Van Dam won the match by countout but will not leave the ECW Arena with the ECW World Title unfortunately.

Still loving this circuit. 2 questions:

1. Are you going to put ECW matches on WWE PPVs before December to Dismember(that name sounds more stupid every day)? And will ECW wrestlers appear in gimicks like Survivor Series matches, the Royal Rumble or Money in the Bank(or a variation of it)?

2. Since you decided to put up with Kurt Angle, when will he be fighting Randy Couture?
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 04/20/08 at 16:56:47

I'm not going to have ECW wrestlers appearing on any WWE RAW/Smackdown PPVs. I'm trying to do something that the real WWE can't do and that's honor their roster split. Also, I really don't feel like booking any WWE shows.

With that being said though, I might book another promotion in tandem with ECW. That wouldn't be until later though.

As for Angle/Couture, probably not. This Kurt Angle isn't bitter since he's still under a WWE contract, so he didn't start making MMA challenges yet. It might be a good idea though to put Angle in some kind of angle with a UFC/MMA guy when he doesn't have an angle going on with another ECW wrestler.

Shelton Benjamin and Matt Hardy battled to a draw in 0:20:00.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Matt Hardy retained the ECW World Television Title.)

This is the third match these two rivals have wrestled and once again, the match ended in a time limit draw, even with a 20 minute time limit. In this match, however, Shelton Benjamin came very close to winning the title at the last minute. Shelton executed the T-Bone Suplex on Matt Hardy but by the time he went for the cover, the bell rang, signalling the match ended by time limit draw. Nevertheless, Shelton Benjamin covered Matt Hardy and made the three count himself, giving himself the victory which will only be recognized by him.

Interview:
The ECW World Champion, Kurt Angle, gloated about retaining the title yet again. Despite needing Val Venis and Stevie Richards to pull him out of the ring and out of the building to get the countout loss against Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle believes that he is the greatest ECW World Champion of all time. Adding further delusion to this is Kurt Angle continued by saying that he single handily scared Ric Flair out of ECW. In Kurt Angle's opinion, there is nobody remaining that can seriously challenge him for the title. Since he has a lock on the ECW World Title, Kurt Angle wants Team Angle members Val Venis and Stevie Richards to acquire the ECW World Tag Team Titles. That's why he has booked Team Angle in a match against The Full Blooded Italians because tonight's match will be the first step in acquiring all the gold in ECW.

Team Angle (Stevie Richards and Val Venis) defeated The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke) when S. Richards pinned Little Guido with the Stevie-T in 0:05:07.
Rating: ***
[Trinity interfered against Val Venis.]

Stevie Richards and Val Venis worked well as a tag team against Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke. They seemed to be more serious in this match than in prior appearances, especially with Kurt Angle watching them from ringside. This lent them to controlling the majority of the match and looking like a tag team that could potentially challenge for the titles further down the line.

After the match, D.H. Smith and William Regal entered the ring and attacked The Full Blooded Italians. They knocked them out of the ring and beat them up down the aisle. D.H. Smith hit the Canadian Stampede on Little Guido onto the hard concrete floor of the ECW Arena. William Regal slapped D.H. Smith on the back, giving him encouragement that he was doing exactly what he told him to do and was proud of him.

Meanwhile, back in the ring, Kurt Angle, Stevie Richards and Val Venis were still celebrating when the lights shut off. When the lights turned back on, Rob Van Dam and Sabu were in the ring and were holding chairs that they threw at Stevie Richards and Val Venis. Kurt Angle had gotten out of the ring before Kurt Angle and Sabu could get to them. Sabu hit a Triple Jump Moonsault onto Val Venis while Rob Van Dam hit the Five Star Frog Splash onto Stevie Richards. Rob Van Dam got up and pointed at Kurt Angle while making a belt motion around his waist. Sabu saw that and pushed Rob Van Dam away and made a belt motion of his own showing that he wanted a title shot too. Rob Van Dam pushed him back in response and this lead to the two brawling which had to be broken up by ECW officials.

Interview:
After the commercial break, Paul Heyman made a huge announcement that on December 2nd, ECW will return to pay per view with December to Dismember. Also, due to Ric Flair's injury, there will be a new number one contender determined next week in a match between the two men who got into a brawl just moments before, Rob Van Dam and Sabu. The match will be fought under Extreme Rules. Also, Paul Heyman talked about how he hasn't heard from Ric Flair since last week's cowardly attack by Team Angle. He has no idea if Ric Flair is done with ECW but he hopes this isn't the end of Ric Flair's career.

[Extreme Rules Match]:
Brent Albright made Tommy Dreamer submit to the Crowbar in 0:08:52.
Rating: **** 1/4

Brent Albright wasn't pleased about losing his first match in ECW against an ECW original last week against Tommy Dreamer. He wanted a return match and this time he wanted it under Extreme Rules. Tommy Dreamer was quick to accept the match. This was more of a brawl than an actual wrestling match when you factor in the added dimension of Extreme Rules. The tide turned in Brent Albright's favor when CM Punk got on the ring apron and distracted Tommy Dreamer with some trash talking. This allowed Brent Albright to sneak up from behind and hit a German Suplex which had Tommy Dreamer land on a garbage can. Brent Albright followed up by locking in the Crowbar to get the submission victory.

After the match, Brent Albright and CM Punk started to beatdown on Tommy Dreamer, who was still feeling the effects of the German Suplex onto the garbage can. CM Punk hit the Go 2 Sleep on Tommy Dreamer and Brent Albright followed by applying the Crowbar submission again. The Sandman ran down to the ring with the singapore cane and chased CM Punk and Brent Albright out of the ring.

Interview:
Jamie Noble confronted Aaron "The Idol" Stevens backstage and demanded to know what he has on Kelly Kelly that is making her stay with him. Aaron Stevens flexed his muscles and said that's why. Jamie Noble said Kelly Kelly isn't shallow and wouldn't stay with someone that made her miserable. Aaron Stevens' expression changed from arrogance to anger. Aaron Stevens warned Jamie Noble that if he actually cared about Kelly Kelly, he would be best advised to quit getting into their business or else. Aaron Stevens left while Jamie Noble seemed like he didn't get the answer he wanted.

Rating: *** 1/4
(MNM retained the ECW World Tag Team Titles.)
[Melina interfered against Brian Kendrick.]

After MNM was surprised at the night club by an attack from The Hooliganz, which also had Paul London stealing another kiss from Melina, the ECW World Tag Team Champions demanded this match and even put the titles on the line. Nothing would be settled in this match as it would go to a 15 minute time limit draw. The two teams disregarded the bell and continued to fight despite the match being over. The Hooliganz had enough with fighting MNM and left the ring to which the crowd booed. They wouldn't be allowed to leave for long as Johnny Nitro leapt off of a crouched Joey Mercury and hit a Shooting Star Press Suicida dive onto The Hooliganz on the outside of the ring. The show ended with the ECW Arena crowd chanting 'ECW' repeatedly while The Hooliganz and Johnny Nitro tried to recover from Nitro's dive to the outside of the ring.

Cage Match:
CM Punk and Brent Albright defeated Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman when B. Albright defeated Dreamer when Dreamer passed out in the Crowbar in 0:10:24.
Rating: ****

The feud between the New Breed of ECW and the Original ECW went inside the confines of a steel cage. The bad blood between these four men needed a steel cage to try and settle their issues. Not sure if it helped settle any issues but it did make for a bloody encounter between the four wrestlers. In ECW, the only way to win a cage match is by pinning or making your opponent submit inside the cage. Cage escapes are not recognized. The New Breed win the match after Brent Albright locked in the Crowbar on Tommy Dreamer and made him pass out.

Interview:
Paul Heyman announced that next week Matt Hardy will defend the ECW World Television Title against Shelton Benjamin again but this time with a 25 minute time limit. Also, if anyone from Team Angle should interfere in tonight's Rob Van Dam/Sabu match to determine a new number one contender, Kurt Angle will be stripped of the ECW World Title without question.

Brian Kendrick pinned Joey Mercury after a springboard leaping swinging DDT in 0:07:50.
Rating: ***

Just like the tag matches between MNM and The Hooliganz, this singles match had a lot of high flying, fast paced action. Joey Mercury went for a Northern Lights Suplex but Brian Kendrick countered with a swinging neckbreaker. Kendrick finished Mercury off with a springboard leaping swinging DDT for the three count. After the match, Melina is furious with Joey Mercury for losing against Brian Kendrick. She volunteers Johnny Nitro to challenge Paul London for next week's ECW Hardcore TV. Paul London accepted the challenge but with the notion that if he wins, he gets to kiss Melina after the match.

Interview:
ECW World Champion Kurt Angle is backstage but he is dressed in a robe and is wearing a blonde wig. He's also wearing a brace around his neck to mock Ric Flair's injury. The point of the promo was to belittle Ric Flair. Kurt Angle tore the wig off and looked at the screen intensely. He told Ric Flair that if he continued with his challenge for the ECW World Title, it wouldn't be a happy ending. Kurt Angle said he respected Ric Flair's career but it's sad that it had to end the way it did. Kurt Angle threatened to do the same thing he did to Ric Flair to the winner of tonight's number one contender match between Rob Van Dam and Sabu.

Extreme Rules Number One Contender's Match:
Rob Van Dam pinned Sabu with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:14:39.
Rating: **** 1/4

These two put it all on the line in order to earn the right to face Kurt Angle for the ECW World Title. A lot of high risk moves were attempted but there was one that backfired against Sabu. Sabu had put Rob Van Dam on a table on the outside of the ring and went back into the ring. He bounced off the ropes and jumped onto the ropes on the other side of the ring and tried to hit a leg drop onto Rob Van Dam, but Van Dam rolled out of the way and Sabu went crashing through the table. Rob Van Dam got back to his feet and rolled Sabu back into the ring. Rob Van Dam finished the match off by hitting the Five Star Frog Splash for the three count.

After the match, Kurt Angle walked out with the ECW World Title and sarcastically congratulated Rob Van Dam on earning another opportunity to be defeated by him. Rob Van Dam wanted the match right then and there, but Kurt Angle opted not to. After all, as Kurt Angle noted, there appeared to be someone already in the ring with Rob Van Dam. The crowd started to make more noise as Val Venis and Stevie Richards entered the ring with chairs and surprised Rob Van Dam with chairshots to the head. Kurt Angle entered the ring and held a chair in front of Rob Van Dam while Val Venis held him in place. This allowed Stevie Richards to hit a superkick onto the chair right into Van Dam's face, knocking him out cold. Team Angle stood tall over Rob Van Dam while the crowd booed as the show came to a close.

I actually thought about something like this when I saw the Guest Booker DVD. I'll start reading yours later, just wanted to say that this is a good idea, though having to deal with the rest of the WWE without actually running anything, is going to be a challenge.

Shelton Benjamin and Matt Hardy battled to a draw in 0:25:00.
Rating: ***
(Matt Hardy retained the ECW World Television Title.)

Once again, nothing has been settled between these two rivals. Matt Hardy retains the ECW World Television Title by going to another draw with Shelton Benjamin. Matt Hardy came very close to getting a pinfall against Shelton Benjamin as he hit the Twist of Fate as the match was coming to a close but Shelton Benjamin barely raised his shoulder to break the pin and then the bell rang to signal the end of the match. After the match, the fans gave the two a standing ovation but Shelton Benjamin left the ring and waved the fans off, obviously frustrated by the outcome of this match.

Interview:
CM Punk gloated about his victory with Brent Albright against Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman in the cage from last week. CM Punk said that while Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman were bloodied and beaten by the New Breed last week, he wasn't satisfied. There is someone else CM Punk has his eyes on and believed deserved more of a punishment than he received a few months ago. Brent Albright agreed that their work is not over by a long shot. He also has his eyes on someone that he is looking to take out of ECW. The two close out their promo with CM Punk saying that "the higher they get", with Brent Albright finishing the statement with "the harder they fall."

D.H. Smith and William Regal get the victory here after getting an assist from Aaron "The Idol" Stevens. Aaron Stevens ran down to ringside and pulled Elijah Burke off the apron and hit him with the Idolizer. In the ring, Jamie Noble turned his attention to Aaron Stevens and looked down at Burke and started yelling at Stevens for taking out his partner. From behind, D.H. Smith hit Jamie Noble with a German Suplex. The match was over when D.H. Smith followed with the Stampede Powerslam for the three count.

Interview:
Paul Heyman announced that next week, Rob Van Dam will challenge Kurt Angle for the ECW World Title in a Ladder Match. In addition, in two weeks on October 31st, ECW will celebrate Halloween by having a Four Way Dance for the ECW World Tag Team Titles. MNM will defend their titles against The Hooliganz, D.H. Smith and William Regal, and Val Venis and Stevie Richards.

A dejected Shelton Benjamin is about to leave the ECW Arena when ECW World Television Champion Matt Hardy stops him. Matt Hardy wanted to commend Shelton Benjamin on the challenge he's given him the past few months and also wanted to shake his hand in a show of respect. Shelton Benjamin told Matt Hardy that nothing is settled between them. Before exiting the arena, Shelton Benjamin again stated he's the uncrowned champion and that he will be asking for one more match. Needless to say, Matt Hardy did not get the handshake.

A video is shown recapping the history between Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle in ECW. Rob Van Dam has come close to winning the ECW World Championship, but came up short each time for a variety of reasons. Can Rob Van Dam finally win the ECW World Title in his specialty, the Ladder Match, next week?

Paul London pinned Johnny Nitro after a flying somersault dropkick in 0:13:45.
Rating: *** 1/4
[Melina interfered against Paul London.]

An action packed main event between one half of the tag teams of MNM and The Hooliganz. The stipulation of this match was that if Paul London defeated Johnny Nitro, he would have the opportunity to once again kiss Melina after the match. Melina would play into the ending of the match, albeit accidentally. Melina got up onto the apron with a chair as Paul London was on the top rope. She wasn't quick enough as London hit a flying somersault dropkick on Nitro. However, the momentum of being hit by the dropkick landed Nitro directly into the steel chair Melina was holding. Johnny Nitro was out cold, allowing Paul London to get the three count.

Afterwards, Melina had to make good on the stipulations of the match of having to kiss Paul London. She was reluctant so Paul London grabbed her and started making out with her. Johnny Nitro was incensed on the outside of the ring while the kiss is going on. Melina doesn't look too repulsed though. From out of the crowd, Joey Mercury entered the ring with a chair and hit Paul London across the back. Johnny Nitro entered the ring and helped Joey Mercury beatdown on Paul London. Brian Kendrick ran down to the ring to help his partner out but he too was laid out on the mat after a Snapshot onto the chair.

Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury are backstage with Melina and they are all visibly irritated after the past few weeks of The Hooliganz getting one up on them. Johnny Nitro guaranteed that Paul London would pay for once again kissing Melina. This prompted Melina to remind Johnny Nitro that Paul London wouldn't have had the chance to kiss her had Nitro just beat London in the first place. Nitro replied that maybe he could've won the match had Melina not been holding a steel chair that he just so happened to hit. Joey Mercury gets in between the two and said they need to focus their anger on The Hooliganz for next week and concentrate on holding onto the ECW World Tag Team Titles in the Four Way Dance.

Match observations:

Tonight's edition of ECW Hardcore TV featured the return of The Sandman as he answered Justin Credible's open challenge. The Sandman proceeded to shut Justin Credible up, much to the delight of the ECW Arena fans.

The ECW World Television Champion Matt Hardy again retained his title by defeating C.W. Anderson. Later in the show, Paul Heyman would announce that Shelton Benjamin would receive one last opportunity to win the ECW World Television Title in a 30 Minute time limit match in two weeks on ECW Hardcore TV.

The saga between Aaron Stevens, Kelly Kelly, and Jamie Noble took another turn as Noble distracted Stevens by kissing his girlfriend, Kelly Kelly. This allowed Elijah Burke to take advantage with a roll up for the win.

Finally, the biggest news of the show would happen in the main event. Kurt Angle defend the ECW World Title against Rob Van Dam in a Ladder Match. This match featured an amazing instance where Kurt Angle had the Ankle Lock applied to Rob Van Dam for upwards of four minutes and yet Rob Van Dam would not give up. The hold left him obviously at a disadvantage but he still was able to climb the ladder.

The big story was the involvement of CM Punk in this match. Earlier in the show, CM Punk and Rob Van Dam had a testy exchange backstage. Never did we think this would be the end result. As Rob Van Dam climbed the ladder and was within reaching distance of the ECW World Title, CM Punk entered the ring and knocked him off the ladder. CM Punk followed up by hitting the Go 2 Sleep to knock Rob Van Dam out cold. CM Punk shook Kurt Angle until he came to and left the ring, being showered with boos as he left. Kurt Angle shook the cobwebs from having been hit with the Five Star Frog Splash earlier and was able to climb the ladder to retrieve the ECW World Title.

Next week is Halloween and ECW will be celebrating by bringing to you a Four Way Dance for the ECW World Tag Team Titles. MNM will defend their titles against The Hooliganz, D.H. Smith and William Regal, and Val Venis and Stevie Richards.

Also, ECW World Champion Kurt Angle, fresh off his victory against Rob Van Dam, has informed ECW.com that he intends on celebrating his victory by throwing a Halloween party in the ECW Arena.

Interview:
Melina is with the new ECW World Tag Team Champions, The Hooliganz, celebrating their victory as they are about to leave the arena. Joey Styles has caught up with the trio and he asked Melina why she turned her back on Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury. Melina said it was simple. Despite MNM having the titles at the time, she could tell it was only a matter of time before The Hooliganz would win them again. Melina believes that with her managerial skills, the hot potato of the ECW World Tag Team Titles going back and forth is over. The Hooliganz will be holding onto the titles for a very long time. A limousine pulled up in the back of the ECW Arena to pick up The Hooliganz and Melina. However, Joey Styles had to press her for an answer on why she would turn her back on a 3 year plus relationship with Johnny Nitro like she did. Melina was caught off guard with that question, as it's not common knowledge that they were in a relationship, but said that he didn't appreciate her and now he'll find out without her that you don't know what you've got till it's gone. Besides, as Melina continued, he just wasn't as good in kissing and "other things" as Paul London is. The Hooliganz and Melina laughed as they entered the limo and left the ECW Arena.

Interview:
ECW World Champion Kurt Angle delivered on his promise of celebrating his victory against Rob Van Dam by throwing a Halloween party. He even wore a costume as he dressed up once again as the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Kurt Angle said that he had beaten everyone that there was to beat in ECW. Kurt Angle said that many think that Ric Flair is the greatest wrestler to ever enter professional wrestling. They're wrong, according to Kurt, because the greatest wrestler ever is standing in the ring and his name is Kurt Angle. As Kurt continued to put himself over, someone in a lucha libre mask entered the ring holding a bat. Kurt turned around and noticed the odd looking individual in the ring and amazingly thought nothing of it, having thought it was Val Venis in a costume since he wrestled in Mexico a long time ago. Kurt went back to putting himself over again but the person in the mask tapped him on his shoulder. When Kurt turned around, he was met with a baseball bat to the stomach and against the neck. The masked man whipped Kurt Angle off the ropes and hit a knee to the stomach. He followed up with a knee to the face. Then, what got the crowd going, was when the masked man proceed to apply the Figure Four Leglock. The crowd began to "Woo" as Kurt writhed in pain. The masked man let go of the move while Val Venis and Stevie Richards ran down to the ring and pulled Kurt Angle out of the ring.

The masked man took the mask off to reveal none other than Ric Flair! Ric Flair was livid with Kurt Angle for trying to take him out of the sport of professional wrestling before he was ready. Obviously, Kurt Angle didn't get the job done. Ric Flair said that he is still the greatest professional wrestler and at ECW December to Dismember, he will defeat Kurt Angle to win the ECW World Title!

Match observations:

Melina shocked everyone when she turned her back on Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury to cost them the ECW World Tag Team Titles as she aligned herself with the new champions, The Hooliganz. The rivalry between these two teams has taken another turn and needless to say, has been escalated further with the betrayal of MNM by Melina.

Shelton Benjamin was able to turn back the challenge of a returning Tommy Dreamer as he heads into next week's showdown with Matt Hardy for the ECW World Television Title.

On the heels of CM Punk costing him the opportunity to win the ECW World Title last week, Rob Van Dam returned the favor by interfering in this match and attacking CM Punk. RVD grabbed a chair and hit the Van Daminator on CM Punk after the match. He went to the top rope to attempt the Five Star Frog Splash but was pushed off by Brent Albright and landed hard on the mat. Brent Albright and CM Punk proceeded to double team on Rob Van Dam until the lights went off. When the lights turned back on, Sabu was in the ring and threw a chair at Brent Albright. Rob Van Dam and Sabu ended up getting the upper hand and knocked both New Breed members to the outside of the ring.

Last but not least, Kurt Angle celebrated Halloween and his victory last week by dressing up as the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair and talking about how great he was as the ECW World Champion. Little did he know that what goes around, comes around, as a masked man entered the ring and proceed to attack him. This masked man took off the mask to reveal none other than Ric Flair! Ric Flair vowed revenge against Kurt Angle and no revenge would be sweeter against Kurt Angle than taking the ECW World Title. This match has been signed for the ECW December to Dismember pay per view.

You're building to Angle/Flair very well.  I hope Flair doesn't end up winning the title, but worse things than that have happened.

I like Melina turning to join the Hooliganz, but I'm not a huge fan of the tag titles hot potatoing the way they have been.  Hopefully with London & Kendrick holding the gold, it'll even out a bit.

You've done Hardy/Benjamin well, but I think it's time for the decisive win one way or the other.  With the way the match has been built, I'll be content either way.

Interview:
CM Punk talked about why Rob Van Dam was out of action for four weeks back in July and that was because of a suspension due to drug use. CM Punk said that he cannot stand people like Rob Van Dam because instead of being motivated to win titles, they'd rather worry about when they'll get their next hit. If the people wanted to know his reasoning for costing Rob Van Dam a chance at the ECW World Title, that's why. The last thing the ECW fans needed was to look up to a pot addicted ECW World Champion. Rob Van Dam came out and said that it's not CM Punk's business to comment on his personal life and that he should mind his own business. Also, CM Punk has no right to question his ambition or character. Rob Van Dam said that CM Punk claims he is all about respect and honor yet what kind of honor has CM Punk brought to ECW? None. All he has done is bitched and moaned with Brent Albright about the original ECW and attacked people from behind.

Paul Heyman came out and said that CM Punk was correct about why Rob Van Dam was suspended but to question Rob Van Dam's ambition was the wrong thing to do. This is the same man that literally carried ECW during its last days as the longest reigning ECW World Television Champion. There are few men in ECW as determined as Rob Van Dam to become the ECW World Champion. Paul Heyman can tell that the issues between Rob Van Dam and CM Punk need to be determined in an extreme way. At ECW December to Dismember, CM Punk and Rob Van Dam will have their first singles match in a patented ECW match: the Stairway to Hell!

Interview:
Joey Mercury said it was no big deal what Melina did. Why? Because The Hooliganz will pay eventually and they will win the ECW World Tag Team Titles again. Secondly, they've already found a replacement for Melina and her name begins with a M too, so MNM isn't going away anytime soon. Johnny Nitro can't believe Melina turned her back on a good thing for a loser like Paul London. In time, she will figure out she made the wrong choice but it will be too late.

Kurt Angle goes to Paul Heyman's office to complain about what Ric Flair did last week. Paul Heyman did not care because Kurt Angle had it coming to him. Kurt Angle tried to nullify Ric Flair's title match at ECW December to Dismember but Paul Heyman said he made it official and it is signed to happen at the pay per view. Kurt Angle told Paul Heyman that if he has to defend the ECW World Title then Ric Flair needs to put something up of value too. Paul Heyman wondered what Kurt Angle meant, perhaps money? Kurt Angle said he already has all the money he needs, what he wants is something more valuable than money: Ric Flair's career! Paul Heyman said it would be up to Ric Flair if he would want that kind of stipulation added to their match at the pay per view.

Aaron "The Idol" Stevens is shown walking through the streets of a down trodden area of Los Angeles with Kelly Kelly. Aaron Stevens talks about how Kelly Kelly is from this area and that her family wasn't the richest in the city...not by a longshot. They barely get by now as it is. Thanks to him, Kelly Kelly doesn't have to worry about this mess. Unless, she makes the wrong choice and aligns with Jamie Noble. Then, as Aaron Stevens concludes, all bets are off. He laughs as Kelly Kelly looks depressed about whatever he's alluding to.

Match observations:

The card for ECW December to Dismember got bigger as it was announced by Paul Heyman that Rob Van Dam and CM Punk will compete in a Stairway to Hell Match. This could arguably be the most important match in CM Punk's career to this point.

Melina guided her new team and ECW World Tag Team Champions The Hooliganz, to a victory over D.H. Smith and William Regal. The big story, though, is that the partnership between D.H. Smith and William Regal appears to be over after William Regal decked D.H. Smith with a punch using brass knuckles. The fans had started to warm up to the second generation athlete D.H Smith and this appeared to have annoyed William Regal or even made him jealous enough to end the tag team partnership. Should be interesting to see how this rivalry between student and teacher develops.

Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury have apparently already moved on from the shock of Melina's turn by turning to another woman that also has a name starting with the letter 'M'. The fact that Nitro and Mercury have moved on so quickly must be irritating Melina.

Next week, Ric Flair will answer Kurt Angle's challenge about putting his career on the line in their match at ECW December to Dismember.

Last but not least, Shelton Benjamin and Matt Hardy went to another time limit draw, even with 30 minutes alloted to them. Paul Heyman made it known that this would be the last match these two would have and hence, at this point, the last opportunity for Shelton Benjamin to become the ECW World Television Champion as long as Matt Hardy retains the belt. After the match, Shelton Benjamin accepted the handshake from Matt Hardy only to reverse into a belly-to-back suplex and complete the turn by hitting the T-Bone Suplex.

Here is current ECW December to Dismember card:

Interview:
Ric Flair is backstage when he walks by Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman. The two ECW originals shake the hand of Ric Flair and told him that they are rooting for him to take the title from Kurt Angle at ECW December to Dismember. Not only that but they said they will be watching his back all throughout the weeks leading up to the pay per view, just like they did earlier. Ric Flair is appreciative and thanks them for the help earlier. Ric Flair told the ECW originals that unlike Kurt Angle, he respected the original ECW and the innovations it brought about to professional wrestling.

ECW World Television Champion Matt Hardy is in Paul Heyman's office pleading to have one more match against Shelton Benjamin. Paul Heyman said that in ECW, stipulations are supposed to mean something. If Shelton and Matt can't beat the other in thirty minutes, he doesn't foresee either ever winning. Matt Hardy said it is more than about winning or losing at this point. It's about pride, honor, and respect, which Shelton Benjamin has little to none of after what he did after last week's match. Matt Hardy appeals to Paul Heyman to grant them one more match. Paul Heyman said that Matt Hardy's reasoning is valid. He's going to grant the match but it will take place at ECW December to Dismember. The ECW World Television Title will be on the line and there will be no time limit. There must be a winner!

You're looking at him, Aaron Stevens! Aaron Stevens reveals a document that he says is an agreement he made with Kelly Kelly's father. All gambling debts would be forgiven in exchange for his daughter proving her loyalty by being Aaron Stevens' woman. Loyal was exactly what Kelly Kelly was before they came to ECW but because of Jamie Noble's involvement, she has shown her true colors. Now, the only question that remains is what should he do now? Aaron Stevens said that the agreement is null and void now and he wants the money!

Kelly Kelly runs down to the ring and she pleads for Aaron Stevens to not make her father pay the money. It's not his fault. Aaron Stevens told Kelly Kelly that she is nothing to him now. CM Punk talked about how sick it makes him that ECW allowed Rob Van Dam to return to the promotion. Rob Van Dam's selfishness brought shame to Extreme Championship Wrestling. CM Punk made fun of Rob Van Dam's catch phrase of "nobody gets higher" by adding that nobody gets as many chances as Rob Van Dam to screw up and lose title matches. CM Punk vowed that their Stairway to Hell match at December to Dismember will be the last we see of Rob Van Dam. It will usher in a new era of ECW led by the New Breed.

Rob Van Dam said that CM Punk has a lot of potential but he lets his ego get in the way of his judgment. CM Punk made this personal by not only costing him the ECW World Title but also by breaking the code of putting his business out in the open. Now, in their Stairway to Hell match at December to Dismember, CM Punk will realize that he is stepping into the ring with the ultimate big match wrestler in Rob Van Dam. After he climbs the ladder and grabs the barbed wire, Rob Van Dam said he will take great pleasure in making CM Punk pay the price and making him bleed all over the ring. If CM Punk and his New Breed want to take over ECW, they're going to have to earn the privilege.

Predictions!  I won't get into the specifics leading up to this, but the build has been quite good.  It'll be interesting to see what you do once this initial run is done and when you branch it off to be exclusively your work.

MAIN EVENT
ECW World Title Match - If Ric Flair loses, he must retire:
Kurt Angle (c) vs. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair

*** I can't see Flair being retired here, so Flair wins the gold.

Stairway to Hell Match:
CM Punk vs. Rob Van Dam

*** Punk.  RVD is in theory still being punished for his drug arrest, and Punk needs this win to be considered a legit threat.

2 out of 3 Falls Match for the ECW World Tag Team Titles:
The Hooliganz (c) w/Melina vs. MNM

*** With Melina's recent turn, I can't see that momentum slowing down.  Londrick retain.

ECW World Television Title Match - No Time Limit:
Matt Hardy (c) vs. Shelton Benjamin

*** As long as there's a decisive winner... :)  Hardy retains.

Extreme Rules Match:
Sabu vs. Brent Albright

*** Sabu wins.

Grudge Match:
D.H. Smith vs. William Regal

*** Smith for the win.

The winner receives Kelly Kelly and the contract:
Aaron "The Idol" Stevens vs. Jamie Noble

*** I think Kelly Kelly with Stevens has more mileage.  Stevens wins.

Team Angle (Val Venis and Stevie Richards) vs. Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman

*** Dreamer/Sandman completes the poor night for Team Angle.

Three Way Dance:
Elijah Burke vs. Little Guido vs. Mikey Whipwreck

*** Burke

Match observations:

ECW returned to pay per view with a vengeance tonight with December to Dismember. The Hammerstein Ballroom crowd watched history be made as Ric Flair captured his 17th World Title with a victory over Kurt Angle. More on that later.

The pay per view opened with ECW Originals Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman squaring off against Team Angle members Stevie Richards and Val Venis. Despite the support of the fans, Team Angle would prevail after Stevie Richards hit Tommy Dreamer with the Stevie-T for the three count.

Brent Albright wanted Sabu in an Extreme Rules Match and that's exactly what he got. He also got yet another victory over an ECW Original in his toughest match to date. This was arguably the match of the night.

D.H. Smith won the match over his former teacher William Regal after hitting the Stampede Powerslam. Now that he has broken away from his mentor, D.H Smith can focus on climbing the ladder in the singles division.

Aaron "The Idol" Stevens defeated Jamie Noble after Justin Credible hit Jamie Noble with a singapore cane. The consequence of the loss for Jamie Noble is that Kelly Kelly is more or less Aaron Stevens' escort. Afterwards, Aaron Stevens and Justin Credible announced that they are the new Impact Players in ECW.

In a match with no time limit, ECW World Television Champion Matt Hardy finally was able to turn back the challenge of Shelton Benjamin and defeat him with the Twist of Fate to get the three count.

The intense rivalry between the MNM and The Hooliganz continued tonight as The Hooliganz, guided by MNM's former valet Melina, defeated MNM 2 falls to 1 in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match, to retain the ECW World Tag Team Titles.

Elijah Burke won a Three Way Dance over Little Guido and Mikey Whipwreck to continue his slow climb up the ECW ladder.

In a heavily anticipated match, CM Punk defeated Rob Van Dam in a Stairway to Hell Match after making Rob Van Dam submit to the Anaconda Vice. Earlier in the match, Rob Van Dam retrieved the barbed wire and used it against CM Punk, causing him to bleed profusely at one point. CM Punk took advantage of Rob Van Dam's Five Star Frog Splash attempt from the ladder and moved out of the way. Rob Van Dam landed hard on the mat and CM Punk immediately locked in the Anaconda Vice for the submission victory.

Finally, in a match with a stipulation of Ric Flair retiring if he could not defeat Kurt Angle for the ECW World Title, Ric Flair defeated Kurt Angle by making him submit to the Figure Four Leglock to win the ECW World Title. Ric Flair is now a 17 time World Champion with the victory. This match had both competitors bleeding and also had plenty of outside interference from Team Angle. It also had a surprise New Jack run in against Kurt Angle which Angle was never able to recover from. After the match, the locker room emptied out as Ric Flair celebrated his title victory with the rest of the ECW roster.
