Midwest Wrestling Alliance

rey619Posted on 12/29/07 at 15:40:10

Wow.. I realize it's almost a year since I played TNM, let alone posted a circuit here. Anyway, the motivation is back, so let's hope this sticks for a while. I'll use the same thread for every show, I think.

Midwest Wrestling Alliance presents Genesis in Joliet, Illinois.

The midwest desperately needs a top Indy-promotion which doesn't revolve around barbaric deathmatches, and the newly started Midwest Wrestling Alliance is the answer. On the 29th and the 30th, MWA presents Genesis, a 16-man tournament to crown the first MWA Heavyweight Champion. The first round brackets are:

Jay Briscoe vs Ricochet
Pelle Primeau vs Austin Aries
Cyber Kong vs Icarus
Tony Kozina vs Sal Rinauro
Mark Briscoe vs Eddie Edwards
El Generico vs Chuck Taylor
Josh Abercrombie vs Gran Akuma
Christopher Daniels vs Low Ki

Don't miss out!

Genesis - Recap

Backstage promo - Austin Aries

The opening graphic for Midwest Wrestling Alliance ends with Austin Aries' face
staring at the camera. "This weekend, Midwest Wrestling Alliance will crown their
very first heavyweight champion. While a lot of wrestlers are home with their
families, celebrating the holidays, Austin Aries is here, ready to bust his ass
off for a chance to once again, wear a heavyweight championship. A lot of people
have said to me: Austin, why do you sacrifice the holidays to win the heavyweight
title for a debuting promotion in Illinois. Well, I say to them, Austin Aries
does not let an opportunity like this slip away. Besides, we have some premier
talent here. The Fallen Angel, Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, the Briscoes, Cyber
Kong from the Dragon Gate promotion... but above all.. MWA has me - Austin Aries.
And tonight, I add another belt to my legacy!"

Backstage promo - The Briscoes

We see footage of the Briscoes arriving at the building.
Jay:"Tonight, it's night 1 of the Heavyweight title tournament. And while the
Briscoes.."
Mark:"Yeah.. the Briscoes!"
Jay: "So far only have held tag-belts, it's about time to change that."
Mark:"Yeah, change that. It's time to man up!"
Jay:"Man up!"

Match 1 - Vordell Walker vs Jay Briscoe

Jay Briscoe's opponent was supposed to be Ricochet, but he did a Teddy Hart and no showed with no excuse. Not a good start for Ricochet in MWA. Vordell Walker took his place. Walker and Jay brawled briefly on the outside, and barely made it in by PJ Drummonds 10-count. Jay wins it with the frog splash. Not a good showing by Vordell, but he didn't have a lot of time to prepare.

Jay Briscoe pinned Vordell Walker after a frog splash in 0:04:46.
Rating: ***
(Ricochet no-showed.)

Match 2 - Austin Aries vs Pelle Primeau

Pelle Primeau had an almost impossible task in this first round match, going against former TNA-star and ROH World Champion Austin Aries.
Austin abused Pelle so badly that the crowd immediately gave him their sympathy, which enraged Aries even more. Pelle is a wrestler who gets better the more he is cheered, and rocked Aries with a series of headscissors, armdrags and a a flying swinging DDT to gain a 2-count. Almost an upset here in the first round!

Aries took a breather on the outside to gather his thoughts, and tricked Pelle to run after him. When Pelle slid back into the ring, Aries was on him like a wolf, hitting him with several kicks. Aries then hit a brainbuster and the 450 splash to win.

Austin Aries pinned Pelle Primeau with the 450 Splash in 0:11:46.
Rating: ** 3/4

Match 3 - Cyber Kong vs Icarus

Cyber Kong is on an extended tour in USA, and accepted the invitation to take part in the heavyweight title tournament. The Winged Warrior Icarus was his opponent in the first round. Cyber Kong had the size and strength advantage, an advantage he never let go. Icarus tried using his strong-style to take down Cyber Kong, but the big Japanese was never fazed, and nailed Icarus with the Cyber Cutter to advance to the second round.

Cyber Kong pinned Icarus with the Cyber Cutter in 0:11:35.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match 4 - Sal Rinauro vs Tony Kozina

MWA has wrestlers from all over the world. Japan, Canada, the east coast, the south and the west. Tony Kozina is a northwest-based wrestler who has decided to try his luck in the midwest.

Sal tried to weasel himself out of every situation, including the handshake and lockup. When Kozina turned around, Rinauro nailed him from the back, trying to take any advantage he could get. Rinauro really got the crowd against him, and it culminated when he slipped away from a power bomb attempt and sunset flipped Kozina for the 3-count, while holding the ropes, of course.

Salvatore Rinauro pinned Tony Kozina after a sunset flip in 0:08:49.
Rating: **

In ring - The YRR

While Kozina is still in the ring, the team of YRR, Chasyn Rance and Kenny King
with their beautiful valet Valerie Malone came in. Rance said that they were
the YRR, Young, Rich and Ready for Action. They then started to make fun of
Kozina for losing to Rinauro, and King even slapped Kozina. Kozina tried to
fight back, but King and Rance were too strong for him, and beat him to the
ground. Vordel Walker came in and chased them away, much to the crowd's delight.
Walker then challenged them to a tag-team match tomorrow night, which the team
hesitantly accepted.

Match 5 - The Black and the Brave vs Billy Roc & Aaron Epic

Short match to end the first half of the show. The team of Marek Brave and Tyler Black ran over Roc and Epic on the outside, and left them on the floor to win by countout. Black and the Brave seems to be a force to be reckoned with.

The Black And The Brave (Tyler Black and Marek Brave) defeated
Billy Roc and Aaron Epic when T. Black defeated B. Roc by countout in 0:03:31.

Intermission promo - Christopher Daniels

"As you might know, I have been fired from my employer, Total Nonstop Action,
because my teammate Low Ki won a suitcase. Don't ask why, I don't understand
all the gimmick matches I'm put in. Anyway, Low Ki decided to quit anyway, being
that whiny bitch that he is, so I was saddled with it. The thing is, Low Ki, I
think you knew that there was a pink slip in that suitcase, so you quit so that
I would get fired as well. You were always jealous of my success! So when I
heard that you would participate in a title tournament of a new, backwater
promotion, guess what? I signed up as well, working for free! I don't care about
this promotion, I don't care about the belt, all I want is for you to NOT win
it. So I asked specifically to face you in the first round. And guess what? The
word of Christopher Daniels still means something in the wrestling world. So
prepare yourself for a short tournament. And that is the gospel according to
the Fallen Angel.

Intermission promo - Low Ki

Low Ki paces back and forth backstage.

"Christopher Daniels. I have heard that you offered to be in this tournament so
that you could knock me out. You think I tricked you into being fired from TNA?
I don't care about your petty conspiracy theories. All I care about is getting
my career back on track, starting with becoming the first MWA Heavyweight
Champion. And that starts tonight!"

Match 6 - Eddie Edwards vs Mark Briscoe

We're back from intermission, and Mark Briscoe is ready to face Eddie Edwards. Edwards knew he had to bring out his A-game in order to beat Mark, and gave the Briscoe a few stiff kicks to start out the match. The match spilled briefly to the outside, where Mark dazed Edwards with a DDT on the floor. Back in the ring, Mark finished up the match with a Cutthroat Suplex. Both Briscoes are through to the next round, they really did man up!

Mark Briscoe pinned Eddie Edwards with the Cutthroat Suplex in 0:06:22.
Rating: *** 1/2

Match 7 - El Generico vs Chuck Taylor

The Generic Luchador El Generico is one of the outsiders here in the tournament, but first, he had to defeat the former IWA:MS Heavyweight Champion, Chuck Taylor. The cocky Taylor pushed the limits of ref Sinclair by continously choking EL Generico and dishing out other illegal moves. Generico got his second wind when the crowd started an "OLE!"-chant, and sent Taylor to the turnbuckle. Taylor ducked the running boot and sent Generico to the ground with an STO. Taylor climbed up, but spent to much time, and Generico knocked him down. Generico then hit the Brainbustah on the second turnbuckle to advance to the second round.

El Generico pinned Chuck Taylor with the Brainbustah in 0:07:44.
Rating: ***

Match 8 - Gran Akuma vs Josh Abercrombie

The second half of Team F.I.S.T. is also here tonight, and Gran Akuma faced the Trendsetter Josh Abercrombie in the first round.

Akumas offense was based around stiff kicks and powerful submission moves. One of the kicks seems to have broken Abercrombies nose, because he bleed profusely throughout the match. Akuma hit a neckbreaker on Abercrombie and hit the 450 splash. Amazingly, Abercrombie grabbed the ropes! Akuma then locked in a very tight headlock, and ref Remsburg stopped the match shortly thereafter, when Abercrombie lost consciousness.

Gran Akuma defeated Josh Abercrombie when Josh Abercrombie passed out in
a side headlock in 0:07:06.
Rating: ** 3/4

Backstage promo - Austin Aries & Team F.I.S.T

Gran Akuma and Icarus are in the back, when Austin Aries shows up.
"That was a fine match, Akuma. I know you haven't been around for that many
years, but the 450 is actually my maneouver."
Akuma and Icarus look at each other nervously.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not pissed. The thing is, that move has a lot of potential,
you have a lot of potential. I can teach you how to perfect it."
"Is that so?"
"As you might know, I like to form groups, factions if you will, in order to
have somebody watch my back. So all of us can watch other backs. You might have
heard of Generation Next and the Resilience, both tremendous factions. What do
you say? Are you in?"

Gran Akuma looks at Icarus.
"I guess so.. what about Icarus?"
Aries looks at Icarus. He's not impressed.
"Well, I guess I could give him a chance. Both of you, actually. Here's what I
want you to do..."

Match 9 - Christopher Daniels vs Low Ki

It's main event time in Joliet, as long-time friends and rivals, Low Ki and Christopher Daniels faces each other. The first five minutes were very even, before Daniels hit the Fall from Grace out of nowhere on Ki, and started to work over Ki's legs, which is his main offensive weapons.

This was a tremendous match. Ki fought back with backhand strikes and a fisherman buster, before hitting the Warriors Way. Daniels kicked out, and soon after, hit the Last Rites on Low Ki. Another kickout. The fans were on their feet for this match, and with good reason!

After almost 25 minutes, Ki gave Daniels a vicious kick which sent Daniels out of the ring. Daniels was knocked silly and couldn't climb back in! That was before Gran Akuma and Icarus came out and slid him back into the ring. For some reason, Team FIST wants Daniels to win!

Daniels got his second wind, and hit the BME for a two count. He positioned Low Ki for the Angel's Wings, but Ki blocked it and gave Daniels another vicious kick to the head, and that ended this 30-minute long match.

After the match, Team FIST ran in and attacked Low Ki, but were repelled by the stiff kicks from Low Ki. Austin Aries then ran in and clubbed Low Ki from the back. Low Ki were seriously outnumbered, and Aries continued to work on the leg which Daniels had worked on earlier.

Low Ki received some unexpected help when Daniels got back up and slammed a chair in the back of both Akuma and Icarus, and chasing Aries to the back. Daniels and Low Ki then shook hands, Daniels obviously regretting his unkind comments towards Low Ki.

Low Ki pinned Christopher Daniels after a kick to the face in 0:29:20.

Genesis - Night Two

Austin Aries, Gran Akuma and Icarus are backstage.

Aries:"Last night, you saw Gran Akuma and Icarus help Christopher Daniels get
back into the ring when he was almost counted out. Yes, I sent them there. Why?
To avoid facing Low Ki? No, no no.. all I was doing was making sure the match
ended how a match will end, in the ring. Not with a bogus countout. Because it
really does not matter who faces me in the finals, they will fall to the power
of Austin Aries. So Low Ki, El Generico, the Briscoes... I'll be waiting. And as for myself, Icarus and Gran Akuma, we are the Power Pack, the soon to be most dominating force in professional wrestling!"

Akuma: "Low Ki, tonight you have to go past me. The question is, do you have
the warrior's heart you claim you have? Or are you just a fraud? We'll find out.."

Match 1 - Austin Aries vs Jay Briscoe - Quarter finals in the MWA Heavyweight title tournament

We start tonight's show with Jay Briscoe taking out one of the favorites, Austin Aries. Jay was not intimidated in the least, and went hard out against Aries. Aries awed the crowd with a plancha through the ropes. Midway through, Jay hit the J-Driller, but he was too close to the ropes. Later, Jay went for a clothesline, but Aries ducked and took him down with a neckbreaker and then went for his new finisher, a double reverse chinlock he has yet to name. Jay tried to fight his way to the ropes, but had to give up.

Austin Aries made Jay Briscoe submit to a double reverse chinlock in 0:14:42.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match 2 - Cyber Kong vs Sal Rinauro - Quarter finals in the MWA Heavyweight title tournament

Salvatore Rinauro weaseled his way through to the quater finals, but faced the big Japanese monster Cyber Kong. Rinauro tried his best to stay away from Cyber Kong, even hitting a rollup for a close call. The fans actually started to cheer Rinauros antics, and when Cyber Kong missed an elbow drop and Rinauro locked in an STF, the fans suspected an upset. Cyber Kong had other intentions, and simply got back up on his feet while a bewildered Rinauro still hung on. Kong hit a Cyber Cutter to advance to the semi finals. A short but fun match.

Cyber Kong pinned Salvatore Rinauro with the Cyber Cutter in 0:04:23.
Rating: ***

Match 3 - El Generico vs Mark Briscoe - Quarter finals in the MWA Heavyweight Title tournament

Another exciting quarter final, as Mark Briscoe takes on the Generic Luchador, El Generico. This was a fast paced match where neither of the wrestlers held back. Generico got huge pops when hit Mark with a spinning backbreaker, while Mark got the fans going with a picture perfect DDT. Even though both knew they had to go through two more opponents to win the title, it looked like they were caught in the moment, and wanted nothing more than to win this match and earn the fans' respect. Mark picks up the win with a frog splash, which seems to be his finisher in MWA.

Mark Briscoe pinned El Generico after a frog splash in 0:10:58.
Rating: *** 1/2

Match 4 Gran Akuma vs Low Ki - Quarter finals in the MWA Heavyweight title tournament

This match went as suspected. Both Akuma and Low Ki wanted to prove that their kicks, chops and elbows were the stiffest, and it was a great showing of their strong-style abilities. Low Ki came out on top from that exchange, but that was until Icarus came in and slipped Akuma a kendo stick behind ref Sinclairs back. Sinclair spent a little too much time talking to Icarus, and Low Ki managed to kick out! Akuma then went high risk with the 450, but Ki got his knees up. Ki then unleashed a barrage of kicks on Akumas thighs, before dropping him with the Ki Krusher for the win. Icarus tried to attack Ki after the match, but Ki put on an angry face and scared Icarus out of the ring.

Low Ki pinned Gran Akuma after the Ki Krusher in 0:13:07.
Rating: *** 1/2
[Icarus interfered against Low Ki.]

Low Ki grabs a mic. "Austin Aries, I know you are behind this. I know you fear
me, and you should. Because when I meet you in the finals later tonight, I
will use that fear against you. I will witness the fear in your eyes as I
kick the living hell out of you!"

Match 5 Austin Aries vs Cyber Kong - Semi finals in the MWA Heavyweight title match

Austin Aries' final hurdle before the finals was also the toughest so far. Cyber Kong had been impressive so far this weekend, but could he overcome the former TNA-star?

Aries tactics were simple - keep away from Cyber Kong while inflicting the most possible damage. He could hit a dropkick, then scoot away to avoid the big guys retribution. Aries then got cocky and went for a brainbuster, but couldn't lift the big guy up. Cyber Kong went on the offensive for a while then, nailing Aries with a Liger Bomb for a two-count. Kong then went for the Cyber Cutter, but Aries escape it hit several kicks and finally managed to hit the brainbuster. Aries climb up top, but too slow, and Cyber Kong took him down with a superplex. Cyber Kong waited for Aries to get up, when Icarus came out and hit Kong between the legs with the kendo stick. Aries crawled over and covered Kong for the win. A good match tainted by the actions of Aries' new group.

Austin Aries defeated Cyber Kong via pinfall in 0:09:00.
Rating: ***

Match 6 Low Ki vs Mark Briscoe - Semi finals in the MWA Heavyweight Title tournament

Aries' opponent in the finals would be either Mark Briscoe or Low Ki.
Briscoe tried to finish Low Ki quickly, and managed to hit both the Cutthroat Driver and the Frog Splash early on. Ki weathered the storm and even hit the Warrior's Way for a near fall. These two were visbly tired, but engaged in a vicious and stiff war of elbows and kicks, which Low Ki won when he hit that devastating kick to the head which also put Christopher Daniels away last night. This was a possible match of the night!

Low Ki pinned Mark Briscoe after a kick to the face in 0:13:26.
Rating: **** 1/4

Intermission
"It's intermission time, and this is Chuck Taylor, here to interiew... Chuck
Taylor!"

Chuck: "So, you might not have advanced in the title tournament, and tonight
you have a match against Billy Roc. Any comments?"

Taylor:"The loss against Generico was a fluke, Chuck Taylor should be in the
finals of the title tournament. As of tonight, Billy Roc is NOT a measure
stick for Chuck Taylor."

Chuck:"So, after you demolish Billy Roc, what are your plans for MWA?"

Taylor:"Well, first I redeem myself by beating El Generico, then I work my
way up for a title shot. Chuck Taylor is the premiere wrestler here in the
midwest, no matter what promotion!"

Match 7 - Aaron Epic vs Christopher Daniels

Daniels thanked the crowd for supporting the new promotion, and put over Low Ki as the man he wanted to take hom the title. He then destroyed poor Aaron Epic in short fashion.

Christopher Daniels pinned Aaron Epic after the Angel's Wings in
0:04:17.
Rating: * 3/4

Match 8 - Billy Roc vs Chuck Taylor

Billy Roc wasn't the pushover Chuck wanted him to be, but it is clear that Chuck means business here in MWA, even though he is out of the tournament.

Chuck Taylor pinned Billy Roc after a standing shooting star press in 0:09:58.
Rating: * 3/4

Match 9 - Vordell Walker & Tony Kozina vs The YRR (Chasyn Rance & Kenny King) w/Valerie Malone

Next up was the tag-team match scheduled yesterday, with the makeshift team of Vordell Walker and Tony Kozina taking on the team of YRR. Kozina and Walker showed heart and good teamwork as they took the Young Rich and Ready for action to the limits. But, YRR had the experience advantage and the lovely Valerie Malone to aid them on the outside. Rance pinned Kozina with Sensational Spike.

YRR (Chasyn Rance and Kenny King) defeated Vordell Walker and Tony Kozina when
C. Rance pinned T. Kozina with the Sensational Spike in 0:16:44.
Rating: ** 1/2

Match 10 - Four corner survival

Four-way match, first fall wins the match.

The three bigger wrestlers took turns beating up on Pelle, until the argument of who should pin the small Alaskan turned into a brawl between the three. It was therefore rather ironic that it was Pelle who took this home, hitting Abercrombie with the Flying Stunner out of nowhere while Icarus and Edwards were brawling on the floor.

Four Corners Match:
Pelle Primeau defeated Josh Abercrombie, Eddie Edwards and Icarus when Primeau
pinned J. Abercrombie with the Flying Stunner in 0:07:28.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match 11 - Austin Aries vs Low Ki for the vacant MWA Heavyweight title

The match that everyone had been waiting for since MWA was announced. Who would lead the promotion as their champion? Would it be Austin Aries? Or Low Ki?

The match was back and forth until Aries raked Low Ki's eyes and went on the offensive. Low Ki ecaped a brainbuster attempt and hit a stiff kick to the back of Aries' neck. Icarus and Gran Akuma then came out with kendo sticks, but Ki fought them off, the ref refusing to end the title match with a dq. The Briscoes came in and engaged Team F.I.S.T, allowing Ki to concentrate on Aries only. Low Ki went for his stiff kick, but Aries ducked and hit the kneebreaker-Saito suplex combo. Aries then went on top for the 450, but Ki climbed up with him and hit a superplex. Low Ki then climbed up again and hit a vicous Warrior's Way double stomp to win the MWA Heavyweight Title!

Low Ki pinned Austin Aries with the Warrior's Way in 0:16:05.

Low Ki is YOUR MWA Heavyweight Champion. Stay tuned for news on our next scheduled event!
Hello MamushiPosted on 01/08/08 at 03:47:05

I'm not familiar with all of your talent, but I'm still going to try and keep with you.

Good stuff so far.  Hoping to maybe see some 6-man action after the way the title match went down.
rey619Posted on 01/08/08 at 19:09:47

I'm not familiar with everybody myself. I reckoned that as a beginning indy promotion, I had to use some unknown undercarders. I have no clue who Aaron Epic is, for example.

I am using Socko's Financial Rulesheet, so unless I want to go broke pretty early, I can't use the really top notch indy wrestlers.

What's going on with GCW and GLWF by the way?

MWA News

The debuting shows of MWA were a great success, and almost a thousand people witnessed these two great shows, where Low Ki showed his dominance by beating Austin Aries in a great match.

It's 2008 now, and MWA comes to Plainfield, Indiana on the 11th and Midlothian, Illinois on the 12th of February.

It's the MWA debut of Jimmy Jacobs, and what a debuting weekend he will have! First, he will face Low Ki for the MWA Heavyweight title on the 11th, and on the 12th, he will face the former ECW and WWE superstar, the Sandman! He will certainly have his hands full.

Austin Aries will have his rematch with Low Ki on the 12th, but on the 11th, he will have to face one of Low Ki's fellow Rottweilers, when the West Coast Rottweiler B-Boy visits the midwest.

Other talent who are confirmed are: Team F.I.S.T, Chuck Taylor, Sal Rinauro, the YRR of Chasyn Rance and Kenny King with Valerie Malone, Pelle Primeau and Billy Roc.

The Briscoes have unfortunately been in another motorcycle accident, but they have stated that they would try their best to make the Midlothian-show, as they have a thing or two to say to Team F.I.S.T.
VertigoPosted on 01/08/08 at 20:10:02

Please! No more Briscoe promos! They're brutal even reading them (but hilarious at the same time). "Tag-belts" lulz

I also don't know everyone here but when I like a fed I tend to look up info on the guys I'm unfamiliar with. From the start I was happy to see Aries, Daniels, Generico, & Abercrombie.

I was honestly pushing for Aries to take it all because I'm not much of a fan of Ki, but oh well. Aries stable will be interesting to follow.

Booked?
rey619Posted on 01/08/08 at 21:03:35

I hate Briscoes promos as well, and can't understand why they get so much promo time. I tried to depict their chaotic promos in writing, but it wasn't as easy.

It is very much booked.

Thanks for reading and commenting, I have a good feeling about this one.

MWA - The Way of the Warrior

Date: 25.01.08
Place: Midlothian, Illinois

Low-Ki promo

Low Ki, the MWA Heavyweight Champ is sitting alone in a locker room, taping his
wrists.

"Austin Aries... last show, you did whatever it took to beat me. You even went
out and recruited your own little faction. Now, that's not new from Austin
Aries. The tactics you used, was. You see, I remember Austin Aries as a man of
integrity. A man who put his body on the line to win matches, to win belts and
to thrill the crowd. Not someone who hid behind a pack, reeling in a couple of
stray dogs with the promise of money, glory and power. But you see, Austin Aries,
you're not the only one with a pack of hounds!"

"Yea yea yea!" sounds from the door, and Julius Smokes, B-Boy and Joker enters
the locker room.
"We got you back man," says J-Train and slaps Low Ki's hand.
"That's right Aries, you see, the demise of the Rottweilers are exaggerated,
and tonight, you will go one on one with the West Coast Rottweiler - B-Boy.

Smokes starts barking and grinning.

"As for Jimmy Jacobs, you have come far, little warrior. But it is not your time
yet."

Austin Aries promo

Icarus enters the Power Pack locker room quite agitated.

"Hey guys, do you know who I just saw?"

"Let me guess, the Rottweilers?" Aries cuts him off. "Yeah, we know already."

Aries gets up and paces back and forth. "It doesn't matter if Low Ki brings in
an entire kennel. The Power Pack is stronger, more motivated and more determined
to bring the MWA Heavyweight title back around my waist. Tonight, I wrestle
B-Boy, the so-called West Coast Rottweiler. That will be a warm-up match for
tomorrow, when I get my rematch at the MWA Heavyweight Title. You brought in
the Rottweilers to watch your back? Fine, I don't need the help of the Power
Pack. I ended the illustrious reign of Samoa Joe, without any help. I can surely
end yours.

Match 1 - Marek Brave vs Pelle Primeau

Pelle Primeau may lack size, but he sure does not lack heart and determination. He attacks Marek from the start with chops and kicks, sending the taller man down with a spinning headscissors and landing a senton on top of him. Pelle maintained control of the match, until he spent to much time on the ropes, and was met with a dropkick on the way down.

Brave continued to toss Pelle around like a rag doll, hitting him with a facebuster onto the knee and directly hitting a reversed rana for a two count.Brave then tried to take Pelle to the turnbuckles, but Pelle reversed it into a tornado DDT. Brave tried to regain his bearings, but fell victim to the FLying Stunner. Pelle is on a roll here in MWA!

Pelle Primeau pinned Marek Brave with the Flying Stunner in 0:10:57.
Rating: * 3/4

Match 2 - Kenny King vs Tony Kozina

King's cocky attitude turned the crowd in the favor of Oregon's TOny Kozina in this one. Kozina tried to wrestle a high-paced match, but whenever he gained control, King slid out of the ring to get a little massage from his valet, Valerie Malone. He would then sneak attack Kozina and assault him with a barrage of fists. The she-devil Malone would also try to distract Kozina. Kozina saw through her womanly charms right away, and grabbed her wrists. The distraction proved fruitful enough, as King connected with a superkick. The numbers game caught up with Kozina who was caught with a Burning Hammer.

Kenny King pinned Tony Kozina with the Burning Hammer in 0:12:43.
Rating: * 3/4

Match 3 - Salvatore Rinauro vs Vordell Walker

Sal Rinauro was a chickenshit at our first couple of events, but tonight he tried a different approach - pull it together and fight like a man! The problem was, any time he successfully completed a move, he went around bragging about it. He bragged about it to the referee, to the fans at ringside, to Vordell, and himself. This didn't really endear him to the crowd, who was really rooting for Vordell. The match was approaching 10-minutes, when Rinauro flipped over a back suplex attempt and hit a dropkick. He then started posing like Hogan, which was really lame since Rinauro isn't all that buff. He bounced off the ropes and hit a clothesline and then a legdrop for the 3-count. I guess when you pose like Hogan and hit a legdrop, it's a sure thing!

Salvatore Rinauro pinned Vordell Walker after a legdrop in 0:09:26.
Rating: ***

Match 5 - Rhett Titus vs Tyler Black

Rhett Titus, the self-proclaimed "Sexies man alive" has not had the same success so far as his fellow ROH graduate, Pelle Primeau. Titus did his best against Tyler Black, but came up short when Black hit God's Last Gift.

Tyler Black pinned Rhett Titus with the God's Last Gift in 0:08:04.
Rating: * 1/4

Intermission

the Sandman is shown standing bewildered in the hallway, talking on the
cellphone. "What? Tomorrow? Isn't it the 26 today? Really? Oh, I'm early
then. Damn. I better go get some beers."

Rhett Titus walks by, and is stunned by the sight of the Sandman.

"Hey kid, do you know where the bar is?"

Titus can't talk, and practically slobbers as he shakes Sandman's hand.

"The BAR?!" Titus tries to stutter someting, but Sandman loses his temper
and smashes a kendo stick (wich happen to be nearby) over Titus' head.

We're in the back with Marek Brave and Tyler Black.

"OK, so Marek here suffered an embarrassing defeat to the hobitt Pelle Primeau
tonight," Black says. "But it doesn't matter, cause the Black and the Brave
are tag team wrestlers first and foremost, and tomorrow night we embark on our
journey here in MWA. A journey which will end with us being crowned the tag-team
champions one day. We don't care about the Briscoes, Team FIST or the Rottweilers,
the Black and the Brave are here to stay!"

Match 5 - Chuck Taylor vs Aaron Epic

After mowing through Chuck Taylor in short fashion, Chuck Taylor yells "c'mon" to the back, an obvious hint that he doesn't feel the opponents are quite up to his preferred standard. Time will tell if MWA management brings him someone better tomorrow night.

Chuck Taylor pinned Aaron Epic with the Omega Driver in 0:05:48.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match 6 - Michael Elgin vs Icarus

Canadian Michael Elgin makes his debut here tonight against Icarus, one-half of Team FIST, and 1/3 of the Power Pack. Elgin showed what he was all about, and put on a hell of an effort against Icarus. After hitting him with a splash mountain, Elgin had Icarus right where he wanted him, but Todd Sinclair was distracted by Gran Akuma, and a sure three count was missed. Elgin went after Akuma, who gracefully withdrew from ringside. Elgin turned around and was promptly hit by a spear from Icarus, followed by the Pedigree for the win.

Icarus pinned Michael Elgin with the Pedigree in 0:09:49.

Match 7 - Billy Roc vs Gran Akuma

Gran Akuma was up next, squaring off against local kid Billy Roc. Roc actually took the initiative in the match, laying down the law with several forearms to Akuma. The turning point came when Roc tried to dive out on Akuma, hitting the guardrail in the process and knocking himself loopy. Still, ROc fought on, and won the crowd's respect for hanging in there, despite Akuma unleashing a barrage of kicks and chops on him. Akuma planted him with a falcon arrow and the 450 for the win.

Gran Akuma pinned Billy Roc with the 450 Splash in 0:10:00.

Match 8 - Austin Aries vs B-Boy

"J-Train" Julius Smokes egged B-Boy on from the start, and the New Age Punisher responded by nailing two Shining Wizards on Aries early on. B-Boy had Aries number, and Aries decided to call it the night and get the hell out of there. On his way out, Aries came face to face with Low-Ki, the MWA Heavyweight Champ, and Joker, and suddenly decided to wrestle on.

Aries managed to gain the momentum in the match, employing the ref's five count liberally while applying a devious fish hook on B-Boy. After working over B-Boy for several minutes, it appeared as if B-Boy was getting his second wind. A timely run-in and a kendo stick to the back from Icarus prevented that. Joker ran out to stop him, but Icarus disappeared in the crowd. Aries took down B-Boy with a brainbuster and a 450.

Austin Aries pinned B-Boy with the 450 Splash in 0:13:50.

Jimmy Jacobs promo

Jimmy Jacobs sits in a darkened room.
"So my path has taken me once again to the midwest. Once again, I, Jimmy Jacobs try to make my name in the midwest. Once again, I may be a heavyweight champion. All this without my one true love. All this, without Lacey. Lacey, I know you think about me tonight, and you should know, that I think about you too. Winning this belt could mean a lot to us, to our love. But then I have to face Low Ki, maybe my most dangerous opponent so far. I know I can beat him, Lacey. I know that I can clasp in the Hangtime or hit him with the Contra Code. I know, in my heart, that Jimmy Jacobs knows the Way of the Warrior."

Match 9 - Jimmy Jacobs vs Low Ki (c) for the MWA Heavyweight Title

Jimmy Jacobs' hopes of bringing home a title for Lacey seemed impossible in the beginning, as Low Ki ran rampant over Jacobs, hitting him from every conceiveable angle with kicks and strikes. If Low Ki had wanted to, he could have ended the match there and then, but that wasn't what the fine folks of Plainfield had paid to see. And with great pride comes a great fall. Jacobs was able to come back into the match (albeit it with a low blow), and an inside cradle for a two count.

The title match raged on, and Jacobs was close on several occasions. He even hit the Contra Code, but Low Ki kicked out. Jacobs tried several times to clasp in the Hangtime submission finisher, but Low Ki, being the experienced grappler that he is, escaped it. Low Ki tried to end the match with one of his vicious kicks to his opponents head, but Jacobs ducked, bounced off the ropes and hit a spear. Only a hanging three count prevented Jacobs from becoming the new heavyweight champ. Jacobs went for the Contra Code again, but Low Ki blocked him and pulled Jacobs down with him, locking Jacobs in a dragon sleeper. Jacobs tried to reach the ropes, but his consciousness faded, and Low Ki was declared the winner of the match.

Low Ki made Jimmy Jacobs submit to a dragon sleeper in 0:22:06.
Rating: ***
(Low Ki retained the MWA Heavyweight Title.)

As Low Ki celebrated in the ring, the Power Pack ran out and attacked him, hoping to soften him up before tomorrows title match. Low Ki fought back, but was overwhelmed. Smokes, Joker and B-Boy came in for the rescue, and a brawl ensued. The Power Pack had control of the brawl, and was about to hit Low Ki with a 450 through a table, when Jay Briscoe and an injured Mark Briscoe ran in and pushed off Aries with a crutch. The Briscoes then celebrated in the ring with the Rottweilers, while Aries cursed them as he and the Power Pack walked back out.

Austin Aries promo

Aries: "Low Ki, you are still the heavyweight champ. I wouldn't want it any
other way. Tomorrow night, your reign is over. And after what happened out
here right now, it's only fitting that tomorrows match is a No DQ-match!"

MWA Icy Graves

Midlothian, Illinois
Crowd: 345

It's a cold and snowy night, but several hundred fans have found their way to
Midlothian, Illinois to watch this MWA show, fittingly named Icy Graves.

After watching footage of the inclement weather, Jimmy Jacobs holds a backstage
promo where he says it's an honor to face a legend such as Sandman. Jacobs
then goes on and says that Sandman is an old hack, and that he was fired from
the WWE because he was an old drunkard. Jacobs said he would win for his true
love, Lacey.

Match 1 - Gran Akuma vs Vordell Walker

Gran Akuma of the Power Pack kicked off this show with a match with Vordell Walker. Akuma's teammate, Icarus was present ringside, giving Akuma the numbers advantage. This helped the Mythological Warrior to gain the upper hand early on, and nearly put Walker away with the frog splash. Vordell had the crowd behind him, and fired up, hitting Akuma with a back elbow, a body slam and a devastating backbreaker. Icarus ran in and tried to help his friend, but was hit with a bodyslam and tossed out again. Walker then picked up the victory with the Vortex. A great win for Walker here!

Vordell Walker pinned Gran Akuma with the Vortex in 0:13:06.

Match 2 - Aaron Epic vs Billy Roc vs Salvatore Rinauro vs Tony Kozina in a 4-way match

Four guys who want to move up the card battled it out in a four-corner match here tonight. Sal Rinauro did his usual routine of having the other three fight the match for him, and try and sneak in a move or two without really getting into trouble himself. This was a fast paced match with a lot of headscissors, armdrags and generally an action packed match.

The end came when Billy Roc hit Tony Kozina with a springboard lariat. Before he could go for a pin, Aaron Epic took Roc out with a clothesline, taking both men over the ropes. Rinauro climbed up top and hit a flying elbowdrop for the win. After the match, Rinauro taunted Roc, but had to flee to the back when his three opponents decided to band up against him.

pinned T. Kozina after a flying elbowdrop in 0:13:31.

Pelle Primeau and Rhett Titus came out and said that they were ROH Students,
meaning that they were among the best students in the world. They challenged
anyone in the back. They got their wish when Julius Smokes came out barking,
and B-Boy and Joker followed suit. Pelle and Rhett were visibly scared, and
Pelle had to reassure Rhett that they wouldn't get killed.

Match 3 - The ROH Students (Rhett Titus & Pelle Primeau) vs the Rottweilers (Joker & B-Boy)

This match nearly ended before the minute, as B-Boy hit the Cross Special Brain Buster on Pelle. Pelle is a brave soul though, and fought on, even managing to get a few solid hits on B-Boy, before both wrestlers tagged their respective partners. Rhett got his wits slapped out of him by Joker, and decided to tag Pelle back sooner rather than later. As Pelle fought Joker, Rhett complained to officials ringside about a chipped tooth. As Rhett was taken backstage to get his tooth looked at, Pelle fell to the Joker Driver. I am not sure if Pelle is too happy with his teammate.

The Rottweilers (B-Boy and Joker) defeated Pelle Primeau and Rhett Titus when
Joker pinned Primeau with the Joker Driver in 0:08:03.
Rating: * 3/4

Match 4 - The Black and the Brave (Tyler Black & Marek Brave) vs Michael Elgin and Drew Gulak

The second tag-team match of the evening pitted Tyler Black and Marek Brave against the makeshift team of Michael Elgin and Drew Gulak. The Black and the Brave had the experience advantage, as both Elgin and GUlak has other partners normally. Black and the Brave dominated their opponents from the get-go, and Gulak was forced to tap out to an MMA-like headsubmission, while Tyler Black was fighting Elgin on the outside.

Before leaving the ring, Black and the Brave claimed to be the best tag-team in MWA.

The Black And The Brave (Tyler Black and Marek Brave) defeated
Michael Elgin and Drew Gulak when M. Brave made Gulak submit to a side headlock
in 0:06:30.
Rating: * 1/2

Match 5 - Chuck Taylor vs Karl Anderson

Chuck Taylor has defeated Aaron Epic and Billy Roc since losing in the Heavyweight tournament, and hasn't been happy with his opponents. "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson is probably his toughest opponent yet, and the power of Anderson gave Chuckie T problems in the beginning. Taylor tried to take a timeout, and used this opportunity to badmouth some kids in the crowd.
Anderson was close to winning when he the Anderson family's trademark move, the spinebuster, but Taylor kicked out. Moments later, he reversed an irish whip from Anderson. When Anderson bounced out of the turnbuckle, Taylor hit him with the Omega Driver and took it home.

Chuck Taylor pinned Karl Anderson with the Omega Driver in 0:12:57.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match 6 - Jimmy Jacobs vs Sandman

It's time for the Hardcore Icon to make his MWA debut, taking on Jimmy Jacobs! This fight started out with punch and kicks, before Jacobs brought Sandman down with a DDT. This match also saw Jacobs hitting a vicious spear on Sandman, and Sandman legdropping Jacobs through a table. Both men bled buckets, and it was Sandman who gained the win after the White Russian Legsweep. Not the best match, but a great experience for the fans.

The Sandman pinned Jimmy Jacobs with the White Russian Legsweep in 0:18:22.
Rating: ** 1/2

Match 7 - Icarus vs Mark Briscoe

Jay Briscoe is injured, but he was ringside when his brother Mark faced off with Icarus of the Power Pack and of F.I.S.T. The Briscoes and FIST have had some problems in the beginning here in MWA, and as soon as Jay is well, a tag-team match will probably be signed.

Gran Akuma tried to interfere, but was chased away by Mark. None of them were seen later during the match, allowing Icarus and Mark to fight it out on even terms. Icarus really thought he had it with the Pedigree, but Mark kicked out. Mark got the crowd going when he hit the Briscoe Barrage on Icarus, but Icarus ducked the final leg lariat and hit a sliced bread. Icarus went for a superkick, but Mark ducked and hit the Cutthroat Driver for the win.

Mark Briscoe pinned Icarus with the Cutthroat Driver in 0:19:53.
Rating: ** 3/4

Match 8 - Austin Aries vs Low Ki (c) for the MWA Heavyweight Title

Heavyweight Title match between Austin Aries and Low Ki. This was a no-dq match, something both Aries and Ki used to full advantage. Aries to choke and gouge, Ki to take the fight outside and use the guardrails to his advantage. The no-dq stipulations also gave both the Power Pack and the Rottweilers the opportunity to be ringside. Joker pulled Aries off of Low Ki after a 450 splash which would surely have given Aries a win.

The match then went outside. Not outside the ring, but outside the building. Low Ki and Aries fought in the snow, Ki hitting the Warriors Way on Aries as he was draped over a fence. Cold and wet, the two combatants returned inside. The Power Pack and the Rottweilers were nowhere to be seen, and after exchanging some vicious blows to each other, Low Ki managed to hit a Dragon clutch on Aries, using the ropes as extra leverage. In a no-dq match, this is perfectly legal, and Aries was forced to tap.

Low Ki retains the MWA Heavyweight Title, and the Power Pack goes 0-3 tonight.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Low Ki made Austin Aries submit to a dragon sleeper in 0:20:32.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Low Ki retained the MWA Heavyweight Title.)

On the end of the DVD, a disappointed Power Pack sit in their locker room. Aries tells the camera that this is not over. The Power Pack will rise from the ashes and put the Rottweilers in their place.

Nice card.

Would have liked to have seen more backstage/in-ring interviews to get to know the wrestlers I'm not familiar with.

Jeep Guy: I'll try to remember that for next show.

MWA News

The following is confirmed for the show: MWA Heavyweight Champion Low Ki, Power Pack members Austin Aries, Gran Akuma and Icarus, Joker, "the Generic Luchador" El Generico, Jimmy Jacobs, Billy Roc, Rhett Titus and Pelle Primeau, the Briscoes and Sal Rinauro.

Expect more stars to be announced as April approaches, at least one more ROH superstar, if the rumors are true.

Battle of Berwyn

It's April 4th 2008, and a crowd of almost 700 are about to witness the very first Battle of Berwyn, a battle royal with both over the ropes and pinfalls/submission eliminations. All available wrestlers are in it (except for Low Ki), and the winner will face Low Ki in the main event for the MWA Heavyweight Title. But first, some video footage from Chuck Taylor, who is full of himself. As usual.

Promo

The cocky Chuck Taylor arrives at the arena, and cuts a promo on his own digital
camera.
"Well, it seems that MWA is offering a shot at the MWA Heavyweight Title, a shot
to whoever outlasts the rest of the roster in the very first Battle of Berwyn.
Well, let me tell you something. Chuckie T is ready for the challenge, he is
way beyond ready. Tonight, Sexy Chuckie T will stand alone in the ring, after
he singlehandledly throws out every one of his opponent. And then, Low Ki, you
can kiss your MWA Heavyweight Title goodbye."

Match 1 - 19-man battle royal
Participants in this one were (order of entry): Jay Briscoe, Pelle Primeau, Michael Elgin, Marek Brave, Jimmy Jacobs, Gran Akuma, El Generico, Salvatore Rinauro, Austin Aries, Chuck Taylor, Rhett Titus, Joker, Icarus, Billy Roc, Erick Stevens, Vordell Walker, Mark Briscoe, Tony Kozina and Tyler Black.

The stakes were high in this one, as every one on the roster for the night competed to take on Low Ki in the main event. Pelle Primeau and Jay Briscoe started out, and Jay completely decimated Pelle, but couldn't take him out. Pelle went out sooner rather than later, something which Rhett Titus found hilarious. Rhett went the same way moments later, when Joker irish whipped him and Pelle pulled down the ropes.

This was a chance for Austin Aries to gain a new title shot, but he was eliminated rather quickly by the debuting Erick Stevens, which cut an impressive figure with his trademark mohawk. Team FIST and the Briscoes went at it when they found each other in the same ring, Icarus eliminating one of the Briscoes. Chuck Taylors hopes of becoming the new MWA Champ went down the drain when Marek Brave took him out. Vordell Walker also put in a good effort, and eliminated several men.

The final four were Stevens, Walker, Tony Kozina and Tyler Black. Walker took out Kozina with a dragon suplex, but was taken down with the Pele kick by Tyler Black. Black then put Stevens in a sleeperhold, but the big guy wobbled over to the ropes and managed to toss Black out, while holding off to the ropes at the same time. Erick Stevens pulls through and wins a title match!

Note: Most eliminations - Vordell Walker (5)

Pelle challenges Rhett
The diminutive Pelle Primeau came out and issued a challenge to the self-proclaimed
most sexy man alive, Rhett Titus. Pelle said that he didn't appreciate being left
behind in their tag-match last show, and that it was about time they settled who
the best ROH graduate was, once and for all. Rhett Titus came strutting out, and
accepted the challenge.

Match 2 - Pelle Primeau vs Rhett Titus

An even match, until Titus started his underhand tactics. He was almost disqualified for choking Pelle, and got a two cound from a underhook suplex. Pelle came back when Rhett missed a Frog Splash, and took Rhett for a ride on the headscissors-ride. Rhett planted a low blow when the ref wasn't looking, and hit the Frog Splash for the unpopular win.

Rhett Titus pinned Pelle Primeau with the Frog Splash in 0:08:48.
Rating: * 1/2

Match 3 - Marek Brave vs Tony Kozina

Marek Brave came out with a limp and a broken nose, injuries sustained during the Battle of Berwyn. Marek won the fans admiration when he said he would fight, despite his injuries. Kozina didn't show any concern for Brave's safety, focusing on the knee, and even headbutting Brave on his broken nose. Brave had to focus on surviving, not winning. Kozina landed a german suplex, but Tyler Black ran in and broke the pin, causing the DQ.
Black bad-mouthed Kozina for trying to injure Brave, but Kozina simply shrugged and said that Brave put himself in this situation, and that he only did what every other wrestler would have done.

Tony Kozina defeated Marek Brave by disqualification in 0:06:55.

Billy Roc challenges Rinauro
Local hero Billy Roc came out to the theme from Top Gun, saying that he wanted
Sal Rinauro in the ring. Rinauro had done nothing but weasel his way to winning
a few matches here and there so far, and that Sal was just a chickenshit.
Sal came out and told Roc to not confuse cowardice with brains, something Roc
didn't have. Sal accepted the match.

Match 4 - Billy Roc vs Salvatore Rinauro
Rinauro quickly tried to scoot out of the ring, but was caught in the ring ropes, to the crowd's delight. Roc had his time with Sal now, whipping him from post to post like a government mule. Roc even planted the LBM Splash, almost a three. Rinauro turned the tides when Roc missed a top-rope clothesline, and started working over Billy's knee. Sal wrapped the knee around one of the ring posts, and smashed it repeatedly against it, bringing the ire of the crowd toward him. Roc fired up, trying to take down Sal with the Angle Slam, but the leg buckled beneath him. Sal toyed with him a little bit longer, before going up for the flying elbowdrop. Roc rolled away at the last second, and miraculuosly enough managed to take Sal down with the Angle Slam. Instead of going for the pin, Billy locked Sal in the STF. Sal desperately reached for the ropes, but couldn't, and had to tap! A big win for young Billy Roc!

Billy Roc made Salvatore Rinauro submit to the STF in 0:09:54.
Rating: ** 3/4

Match 5 - El Generico vs Tyler Black
An absolutely tremendous match between these two. Black lasted until the end of the Battle of Berwyn, but seemed rejuvenated and motivated to kick El Genericos butt. El Generico, on his side, got the crowd going with his OLE-chants, hitting Black mercilessly with a running boot. They both went for the finishers early on, but it was clear that both men needed to be worn down a little first. El Generico was the first to hit his, the Brainbuster on the second turnbuckle. The downside with this move is that the opponent is rather close to the ropes. Black reached blindly for the ropes, and found them. Black fought his way back into the match, and while both were jockeying for positions, Black hit his small package driver for the win, in a match which easily can become the Indy match of the year! Simply amazing.

Tyler Black pinned El Generico with the God's Last Gift in 0:16:57.
Rating: **** 3/4

Match 6 - Jimmy Jacobs vs Michael Elgin
Jacobs was visibly more tired than Elgin going into this match, as Elgin didn't last very long in the Battle. It didn't seem to make a difference, as Jacobs dominated the bigger wrestler for most of the match, wearing him down for the Endtime or the Contra Code. Elgin finally caught a break, and almost put Jimmy away with a powerslam. Jimmy realized that harder measures might be necessary, and when PJ Drummond took a ref bump, Jacobs pulled out the railroad spike, which he planted in Elgins face. PJ woke up and counted the pin.

Jimmy Jacobs pinned Michael Elgin after hitting him with a foreign object in
          0:11:03.

Match 7 - Chuck Taylor vs Vordell Walker
Chuck Taylor had promised everyone that he would be standing alone as the MWA Heavyweight Champ after tonight. That was not going to happen, but he then challenged Vordell Walker to a match. Walker had eliminated the most participants in the Battle of Berwyn, and looked poised for another scalp.
Taylor knew Walker was weary after the Battle of Berwyn, and went on the attack right away, hitting the Omega Driver almost at the five minute mark. Walker kicked out, enraging Taylor even more. An enraged Taylor lost his focus, and was taken down by an armdrag, transitioned into a painful cross armbreaker. Taylor held on as long as he could, even longer in fact, as he eventually passed out. Even though he didn't win the Battle of Berwyn, Walker has had a really good evening tonight.

Vordell Walker defeated Chuck Taylor when Chuck Taylor passed out in
an cross armbreaker in 0:06:31.

Match 8 - Austin Aries vs Joker
Austin Aries is not through with Low Ki (according to himself), but tonight, another of the Rottweilers faced him in the ring. This quickly turned into a huge brawl, as the rest of the Power Pack interfered. Julies Smokes didn't really want to send Low Ki out there, and B-Boy wasn't here tonight, so he must have welcomed the Briscoes help. After ten minutes of multi-man brawling, where Joker did a crazy dive out of the ring on the rest of the guys, and where Icarus busted Mark open with a chair, Aries and Joker found each other back in the ring again. Aries and Joker then engaged in a hard-hitting contest where the crowd cringed with every move, every slam and every bomb. In the end, it was Joker who pulled off something of an upset, when he hit Aries with the Joker Driver.

Joker pinned Austin Aries with the Joker Driver in 0:21:18.

Match 9 - Jay & Mark Briscoe vs Team F.I.S.T (Gran Akuma & Icarus)

Team FIST and the Briscoes faced each other in the semi main-event, and the lines had already been drawn. Icarus eliminated Jay in the battle, and he also cracked Mark's nose with a chair during the Aries-Joker match. It was a disappointingly short match, which the Briscoes took home with the Briscoes Bomb. The two teams brawled after the match was done, and we have a feeling they're not entirely through with one another.

Challenger promo
Erick Stevens is preparing for his title match, when Austin Aries comes in.
"So, Erick, you have an important match tonight. Good luck."
"Thanks," Stevens replies, running his hand through his mohawk before shaking
Aries' hand.
"I just want you to know, Erick, that if you win tonight, I will be coming for
that belt," Aries says. "Losing to Joker tonight doesn't change a thing. I am
still the top wrestler in this company."
"We'll see Aries. One thing's for sure. When I do become the new MWA Champion,
tonight, you just have to get in line," Stevens says, walking away from a perplex
Aries.

Match 10 - Erick Stevens vs Low Ki (c) for the MWA Heavyweight Title

This was Erick Stevens' big chance, no doubt about that. He had a noticeably size difference on Low Ki, but Ki had the advantage of being 100 % fresh.

Stevens went to work on Low Ki from the beginning, trying to get him up for the Doctor Bomb. Ki resisted the move, and started wearing Stevens down with his kicks. Ki even hit the Warrior's Way on Stevens, but he kicked out. Ki started to get impatient now, and Stevens was able to put him down with the Blue Thunder Bomb. But Low Ki hadn't become champion just to lose it again so quickly, and powered out. Ki softened Stevens up with more kicks, before using his old finisher, the Ki Krusher to retain.

Low Ki pinned Erick Stevens after the Ki Krusher in 0:13:46.

MWA - The Time is Now

05.16.2008
Joliet, Illinois
Attendance: 678

Welcome to another great show from Midwest Wrestling Alliance! Tonight, Low-Ki defends his MWA Heavyweight Title against Tyler Black, the Rottweilers of Joker & B-Boy finally goes two on two with Team F.I.S.T, and the Briscoes tackle the YRR. Plus, MWA's first ever women's match up, as Cheerleader Melissa, Mickie Knuckles and LuFisto collide in a threeway!

Low Ki promo
Low Ki is standing in a hallway, his MWA Heavyweight Title across his shoulders.
"Tonight, I'm defending this title against Tyler Black. Tyler, some people say
that you and El Generico had the match of the year back in Berwyn. And that is
why I saw fit to give you a title match. Not because you won. Not because you
are the top contender, but simply because you put on a hell of a fight. You see,
I want to test you. See what man you are. I know about this Age of the Fall crap,
and I think you are better than that. Tonight, this belt," Low Ki slaps his belt
will be on the line. To win this, you need to step up your game even more. But
no matter what, we WILL tear the house down Tyler. We WILL give these people the
match of the night."

Vordell Walker promo
We see Vordell Walker in his locker room, preparing for his match. He is wearing
MMA-gloves and is doing excercises that would remind you of that sport.
"People don't seem to have recognized that Vordell Walker is on the rise here
in MWA. I'm unbeaten on the last two shows, and in Berwyn I eliminated the most
in the Battle Royal. Tonight, I'm facing Erick Stevens, who happened to WIN the
Battle of Berwyn. I couldn't accept the fact that I laid the groundwork, and
Stevens stole the win, so I challenged him for a match here tonight. So Erick,
you can toss me over the ropes tonight, but in the end, I'll come back and make
you tap!"

Match 1 - Erick Stevens vs Vordell Walker

"Shooter" Vordell Walker against "Explosive" Erick Stevens opened up this show. Tempers flared as Walker started to kick away at Stevens in the opening segments, trying to wear the bigger man down. Stevens quickly turned the momentum, and started tossing Walker around with a variety of suplexes. Walker showed a great deal of resilience, and turned the tides again with a brilliant dragon suplex on the big man. Walker hit the 450 splash (which a lot of wrestlers in MWA seems to use), but Stevens got away.

The match came to an end when Stevens hit a senton. Walker kicked out, but Stevens went for the Doctor Bomb. Walker stood his ground and countered with a backdrop. He then hit Stevens with a devastating clothesline and finished him off with the Vortex. A great win for Walker!

Vordell Walker pinned Erick Stevens with the Vortex in 0:18:10.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match 2 - Billy Roc vs Salvatore Rinauro

Billy Roc defeated Sal Rinauro in an upset back in Berwyn, but Rinauro had petitioned for a rematch. Local boy Billy Roc is trying to climb the ranks here in MWA, and accepted. Sal Rinauro is possibly one of the most unpopular wrestlers in MWA, and the crowd let him hear it in this one. The cocky Rinauro usually plays to the crowd after each successful move, and this match was no exception. Sal dominated this match throughtout, and when Billy finally gained the momentum, Sal's allies in the YRR, Chasyn Rance and Kenny King helped him. King distracted the ref, and Rance and Sal double teamed Billy. Roc couldn't avoid being pinned after a flying elbowdrop.

Salvatore Rinauro pinned Billy Roc after a flying elbowdrop in 0:11:11.

Match 3 - Austin Aries vs Shayne Hawke

"Superstar" Shayne Hawke making his debut here tonight against Austin Aries. Aries have suffered a couple of defeats lately, including an upset loss to Joker back at Battle of Berwyn, and wanted someone "easy" tonight.

Hawke didn't seem to intimidated by Aries, and went at him at full speed from the get go. Aries cut him off with an elbow, and starting working over him. Hawke blocked a slingshot senton attempt, and locked in an armbar on Aries. Aries quickly rolled over and locked in the Horns of Aries, forcing Hawke to tap. Aries didn't want to release the hold, and another two referees had to come out to make him let it go. It seems as if Aries is sending a message to Low Ki.

Austin Aries made Shayne Hawke submit to the Horns of Aries in 0:07:50.

YRR promo
The YRR is having a party backstage, with a lot of local hos.. eh.. girls.. two
of the girls are giving Sal Rinauro a lapdance as a prize for winning against
Billy Roc, while King and Rance are receiving massages before their upcoming
match against the Briscoes. Rance looks into the camera.
"A little more to the left baby. And a little lower. Ah, that's the spot, right
there, yeah! Tonight, the YRR is in town. What is this place anyway?"
"Who cares," King answers. "It's a shithole."
"You got that right. So tonight, we're facing the Briscoes. THE Briscoes. The
best tag-team in the world. Well, you know what, I don't care. To me, you're
just two goons with no talent and a lot of brain damage. And that is not a
combination that will take you far, not against the likes of the YRR. Cause
that is what we are.. we are YOUNG, RICH and READY FOR ACTION!"

Match 4 - Cheerleader Melissa vs LuFisto vs Mickie Knuckles

It is time for the very first women's matchup here in MWA, as the Hardcore Queen LuFisto takes on Cheerleader Melissa and midwest favorite Mickie Knuckles. LuFisto and Mickie teamed up early on to take out Melissa, treating her back to the merciless steel railings on the outside. The alliance broke up when LuFisto hit a flying headbutt, forcing Mickie to break the cover.

The match was closing in on the 20 minute time limit, and all three girls tried to gain the victory. LuFisto sent Knuckles through a table. Melissa smashed a road sign over LuFisto's head, and Knuckles hit a piledriver on Melissa. In all cases, the third girl made the save. Melissa was knocked cold after the piledriver, and LuFisto clasped in a Muta Lock on Mickie. Mickie was close to tapping, but the time limit expired. No girl could claim victory here today.

Triangle Match:
LuFisto drew Mickie Knuckles and Cheerleader Melissa in 0:20:00.

Tyler Black promo
Tyler Black is preparing for his title match.
"Well, I would never've anticipated getting a title match so soon. I mean, I
was gunning for a tag-title career here in MWA. But then, Marek Brave gets hurt,
and I'm thrown into a match with El Generico. We tear the house down, and I
end up as the winner. Next thing I know, Low Ki wants me in a title match.
I won't lie, it is going to be the biggest match in my career. Am I nervous?
Of course I am. Am I afraid? No. You see, Low Ki, you may be the Heavyweight
champion. You may be the best guy in MWA. But you're still a guy. A human being
who can be beaten. And that's what I'm gonna do today. Beat you."

Match 5 - The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) vs The YRR (Chasyn Rance & Kenny King) w/Valerie Malone

Chasyn Rance was manhandled by the Briscoes early on, until a timely intervention by the lovely Valerie Malone gave Chasyn the opportunity to tag Kenny. Kenny wore Jay down, including using the classic figure four leglock. YRR showed great teamwork as well, Kenny hitting Mark with a missile dropkick straight into a roll up from Chasyn for a two-count.

The Briscoes were about to turn the match, and even hit a Briscoe Bomb on Chasyn, but Sal Rinauro put Chasyn's foot on the rope. The Briscoes continued to assault the YRR, but the numbers game proved difficult for the Briscoes to handle. The time limit expired, but ref Sinclair let the match go on, as he was sick of the interference. Jay hit King with a tiger driver to win the match. YRR protested vehemently, but were chased from the ring by the Briscoes. Excellent match!

Match 6 - Jimmy Jacobs vs Karl Anderson

Yet again, Jacobs were overwhelmed by an opponent's size and strength. Still, he had the temerity to stay afloat, even kicking out of Anderson's spinebuster. Jacobs distracted the ref by unbuckling the turnbuckle, and when the ref tried to fix it, Jacobs nailed Anderson with the railroad spike for the win.

Jimmy Jacobs promo
Jimmy Jacobs is celebrating his win in the back.
"Jimmy Jacobs is back on the winning track. Even though my beloved Lacey is
not here, I found it in my heart to win. For her. I pulled out my railroad
spike, and I nailed Karl Anderson with it. Just like I pull out... eh.. and
nail.. Lacey.. wait.. is this inappropriate for home release? Can I start
over? Wait.. Lacey, you know I'm not like that.. I'm a compassionate lover..
I mean.. loving being.. oh, I'm screwing everyone.. I mean everything! Damnit!"

Match 7 - Team F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma & Icarus) vs The Rottweilers (B-Boy & Joker) w/Julius Smokes

The Rottweilers vs Team FIST of the Power Pack was our first main event of the evening. These two stables have been at it since the start, led on by their two leaders, Low Ki and Austin Aries. It seemed as if those two had decided to let their minions fight it out by themselves, as they didn't make their presences known at ringside.

This match went back and forth, with the crowd clearly on the Rottweiler's side. B-Boy was especially popular among the crowd, particulary when he fought his way through a devastating kneebar from Akuma. Again, the ref made a controversial decision, as the time limit expired in the middle of a pin attempt from Joker. Akuma protested, saying that he would have kicked out if he had known that Bryce would let it continue. Icarus dropped Remsburg with a Pyramid Bomb after the match, just to show him how displeased they were with him.

Match 8 - Low Ki vs Tyler Black

Tyler Black's biggest match of his career, no doubt about that. And Black actually drove the match forward, almost giving him the belt after a lung blower - moonsault combo. Ki retaliated, sending Black out of the ring and diving out on him. Black showed the fans that he also could use devastating kicks, hitting a Pele kick on Low Ki. Somewhere along the lines, Ki decided that he would step up his game, and unleashed a barrage on Black, which ended with the Ki Krusher. And that was all she wrote.

Low Ki pinned Tyler Black after the Ki Krusher in 0:14:00.

Smokes motions to the back, and Joker and B-Boy come running in. Power Pack
is armed with kendo sticks, and takes out the Rottweilers as they try to enter
the ring. The Briscoes come out to stack the odds against Power Pack, but they
are ambushed by the YRR. It's total mayhem in the ring now, but the numbers
game prevail for the Power Pack and YRR. As the show comes to a close, Aries
has Low Ki in the Horns of Aries, as the rest prevent the Rottweilers and the
Briscoes to come to his aid.

MWA moves on to Midlothian, Illinois tomorrow night, May 17. No matches were announced up front, but as a result of what took place in Joliet on the 16, the following matches has been signed.

LuFisto vs Mickie Knuckles
LuFisto had Knuckles in a Muta Lock when the time limit expired. LuFisto is positive that Mickie would have tapped if it had been 10 more seconds, and wants to prove who is the best hardcore wrestler tomorrow night in a FCA-match!

Jay Briscoe vs Sal Rinauro
Jay & Mark did overcome the odds the YRR stacked against them tonight, but Jay wants Sal one-on-one in the ring, to teach him a lesson.

Mark Briscoe vs Chuck Taylor
Mark and Jay has decided to step up their singles work here in MWA, and that is why Mark has been booked against Chuck Taylor. Can the Briscoes perform alone, or are they nothing without each other?

Power Pack vs Rottweilers

MWA Collision Course
05.17.08
Midlothian, Illinois
Attendance: 720

The YRR are entering the arena. They are most likely a little hung over from
last night's party. Kenny King asks Chasyn if he has hired a masseuse for
tonight, but Sal Rinauro interjects, saying that he doesn't need a masseuse, he
needs to get laid. Chasyn and Kenny scolds him, saying that masseuse is.. well..
you know, but that you couldn't say the "h"-word.

Sal then spots the "masseuse", and hugs her from behind. It turns out to be
LuFisto, who lays out Sal with a big right and then chases Kenny and Chasyn
away with a bat wrapped in barbed wire. She turns to the camera and says that
Mickie Knuckles was lucky last night, but that she wouldn't be as lucky now
that the Hardcore Queen got her, one on one.

Match 1 - Chuck Taylor vs Mark Briscoe

The Briscoes want to become better singles wrestlers, and that is why they will have to fight alone now and then here in MWA. Taylor had Mark under control during the first five minutes of this match, but fell victim to the Burning Hammer when his attention wandered to the crowd. Taylor then lured Mark to the outside, where they brawled, even taking it to the outside of the building, where Chuck tossed Mark into a garbage container. Chuck quickly closed the door, and ordered the ref to count him out. Jay ran down to unlock the door, but it was to late. A sneaky win for Chuck Taylor!

Chuck Taylor defeated Mark Briscoe by countout in 0:07:30.
Rating: ** 3/4

Match 2 - Jimmy Jacobs vs "Superstar" Shayne Hawke

Superstar Shayne Hawke haven't had an easy weekend. Austin Aries yesterday, Jimmy Jacobs tonight. Even so, the brave youngster came at Jacobs at a 100 %, until Jacobs cut him off with a spear. Jacobs dove over the ropes and unto Hawke, and the leader of the Age of the Fall punished Hawke on the outside, bodyslamming him to the floor and smashing his head into the guardrail. Hawke tries to mount a comeback in the ring, but Jacobs cuts him off again and hits the Contra Code for the win.

Jimmy Jacobs pinned Shayne Hawke with the Contra Code in 0:11:08.
Rating: ** 1/2

Match 3 - Billy Roc vs Tyler Black

Tyler Black lost a hard-fought title match last night to Low Ki, so an easier match-up with local boy Billy Roc was a perfect match for Tyler. Initially, Billy Roc controlled this match, maybe because Tyler was weary from his match with Low-Ki. Roc almost had the match won with an asai moonsault, and went for the Angle slam, but Tyler blocked it. Billy was close on several other occasions, but Tyler kicked out and eventually hit God's Last Gift to win it.

Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black are in a dark basement somewhere. They are
celebrating their respective wins, and proclaims that the revolution is near
and that the Age of the Fall is coming to MWA!

Match 4 - Jay Briscoe vs Sal Rinauro

Sal Rinauro tried (unsuccesfully) to cost Briscoes the victory last night against Rinauro's friends from the YRR. Still, Jay wanted a piece of Sal, one on one. it was a one-sided affair in the opening moments, as Sal was whipped from pillar to post by the determined Jay Briscoe. The rest of the YRR were ringside, but didn't seem to be in the shape to interfere much.
Jay wins it with the J-Driller, and the YRR need to ask themselves if maybe the got a little too much to drink last night.

Jay Briscoe pinned Salvatore Rinauro with the J-Driller in 0:06:40.
Rating: ****

An impatient Austin Aries paces back and forth in the Power Pack's dressing room. Icarus and Akuma is goofing about, when Aries suddenly snaps, directing his anger towards them. He tells them that tonight, the three of them faces the Rottweilers in the main event, and that everybody needs to go inside themselves and focus. Aries says that winning this match is important for his quest to regain the MWA Heavyweight belt. Akuma remarks that he has never held the belt. Aries asks him what he said, but Akuma just shakes his head and promises to start focusing. Aries says he better do so, because right now, the Rottweilers were preparing themselves for the battle of their lives.

In the Rottweilers' dressing room, Joker is telling war stories from Iraq, while Smokes and B-Boy is smoking (probably pot) and joking around. Low Ki is in a corner doing squats. Smokes asks him if he wants a puff, but he shakes his head and rolls his eyes in disgust.

Match 5 - Chasyn Rance vs Vordell Walker

Vordell Walker took another great win last night against Erick Stevens. If he could rack up one more against Chasyn Rance here tonight, a title shot wouldn't be to far away from the young southerner. To achieve that, he not only had to defeat Chasyn Rance, but avoid being distracted, or worse, by Valerie Malone and Kenny King. Yet again, King didn't seem to eager on cheating, and mostly sat ringside, nursing a bottle of water.

Vordell and Rance ended up brawling on the floor, and a stray punch from Vordell knocked Valerie Malone out. King didn't consider the fact that she tried to interfere, and knocked Walker in the back with a chair, causing ref Long to DQ Chasyn. Sal joined in the beatings, but YRR was eventually chased out by the Briscoes.

Vordell Walker defeated Chasyn Rance by disqualification in 0:13:57.
Rating: **

Match 6 - LuFisto vs Mickie Knuckles

It's time for some Women's hardcore action, as the Missionary of Violence, LuFisto, tried to do what she couldn't in time yesterday, make Mickie tap out.

The match started with some really heavy punches from both sides, before LuFisto dropped Mickie with a DVD for the first 2-count of the match. Later, Knuckles was clotheslined over the tope, and was hit by a tope from LuFisto. Mickie turned the tides on the floor, sending the canadian head first into the ringpost. LuFisto came back, and after ducking a spinning back fist, took Mickie down with the Emerald Fusion to win the match.

LuFisto pinned Mickie Knuckles with the Emerald Fusion in 0:08:14.

Erick Stevens cuts a short promo before going into his match. The big man with the mohawk says that he has had issues with the YRR before, and knows how to handle them. First order of business, make sure that the liquor and the women flows freely the night before a match.

Match 7 - Erick Stevens vs Kenny King

Like the rest of the YRR, Kenny King was not in shape for his singles match with Erick Stevens. Stevens may be 0-2 in singles competition here in MWA, but you don't wrestle Stevens hung over. That can be dangerous.

This was an even affair, with Stevens punishing King with stiff chops and hard forearms. King took a sneak shot here and there, and held his own, while the YRR lounged on the outside, nursing their headaches. The only one who seemed to be in shape, was Valerie Malone (and what a shape!), as she consistently tried to interfere on Kenny's behalf. Stevens was finally able to lock King in a sleeperhold, when Malone tried to interfere again. Instead, Stevens ducked and she hit King. Stevens took King down with a powerslam for the victory.

Erick Stevens pinned Kenny King after a powerslam in 0:13:05.

Match 8 - The Rottweilers (B-Boy, Joker & Low Ki) vs Power Pack (Austin Aries, Icarus & Gran Akuma)

Time for tonight's main event, as the Power Pack faces the Rottweilers in a 6-man tag team match! This broke down into chaos at once, as all six combatants crashed together on the outside. Maybe the YRR felt that they hadn't done enough tonight, but they interjected themselves in the match. This soon brought the Briscoes out, and all hell broke lose. Ref Sinclair couldn't contain the match, and eventually called for the no-contest.

The numbers game took its toll on the Rottweilers/Briscoes coalition, and as the show came to a close, both Aries and Gran Akuma hit Low Ki with the 450 splash. The fans were not happy with this ending.

MWA News

The next two shows will be held on the 27th and 28th of June, both in Kankakee, Illinois.

Because of the big brawl that caused last show's main event to go to a non-contest (effectively ruining the show, according to many fans), MWA officials have ordered Power Pack and Rottweilers to not hang together in Kankakee. They are sick of the pack (pun intended) mentality of the two groups, and want to have a show without a lot of chaos.

* Aries and Low Ki will face each other in a tag-team match on the Friday show, each with a non-stablemate partner of their choosing. It will be interesting to see who on the roster (or maybe someone from outside MWA) teams up with these two main eventers.

* On the Friday show, a six-man gauntlet will be held. The winner will face Low Ki for the MWA Heavyweight Title on the Saturday show. The participants in the gauntlet will be: Icarus, Sal Rinauro, Billy Roc, Jimmy Jacobs, Vordell Walker and Karl Anderson.

* Marek Brave is back from injury, and the Black and the Brave will have their hands full this weekend. On Friday, they will meet the Briscoes, while Team F.I.S.T. are opponents on Saturday.

* Mickie Knuckles are the only female booked for the show, which means she will have to face a male. Who? None other than the returning Pelle Primeau!

Other confirmed talent: Erick Stevens, Chuck Taylor, Aaron Epic and B-Boy.

Belltime is 8:00 pm on both evenings.
Snabbit888Posted on 04/04/08 at 08:30:50

I'm trying to get into this but so far I'm having a little trouble as I'm not familiar with a lot of the wrestlers other than by name.  I don't follow ROH much, so it will take me a bit before I fully grasp what is going on.
rey619Posted on 04/07/08 at 13:05:20

Yeah, I realize the fact that I'm using a considerable amount of Indy-talent is limiting interest in this circuit, especially when I'm trying to go the "indy-route" of having a small core of contracted wrestlers and using a lot of one-offs, which makes coherent storylines more difficult to create.

I'm also using Socko's Financial Sheet, which in addition to simulate your finances, randomly makes some wrestlers unavailable for shows (he has previous bookings). This makes booking challenging, but a lot of fun.

That being said, I have more reads than I thought I would.

MWA - Running the Gauntlet
27.06.08
Kankakee, Illinois
Attendance: 370

The disc opens with a recap of last month, when the scheduled six-man tag
between Power Pack and the Rottweilers had to been thrown out due to the sheer
chaos of the match when both the YRR and the Briscoes interfered.

Austin's partner
Austin Aries is alone in his locker room, Team F.I.S.T. nowhere to be seen.
"As you might understand, MWA officials weren't too happy about the scheduled
main event being thrown out. They say some even demanded their money back. I
can see that, I can understand that the crowd really wanted me to beat Low Ki
and his cronies without the Briscoes and the YRR interrupting. So now, MWA
officials have said that I can't hang out with the Pack tonight, sort of like
a punishment. I'm getting flashback to kindergarten again. Still, they wanted
me and Low Ki in a tag-team main event, but not with our regular partners. They
told me to find a partner, and that I did."

The camera zooms out and Chris Sabin comes into view. Aries welcomes him to MWA
and shakes his hand. "I guess I'll see you later, Low Ki!" Sabin says.

Low Ki's partner
Low-Ki is seen doing squats in his locker room, when El Generico walks in.
"Ole!" the generic luchador shouts as he glides through the room. Low Ki is
about to kick Generico's face in, when Julius Smokes enters and motions to Ki
that it's alright.
"What's this?"
"It's your partner for tonight, man. Gimme five!"
Low Ki is less than impressed.
"It's that's the best that you could do? You've had two weeks!"
El Generico looks rather hurt and mutters something sad in Spanish.
"Yo, that dawg's not such scruffy-looking as he seems. He's the deal baby!"
Low Ki looks at Generico, who shadow boxes next to him and barks like Smokes
does (rather poorly though).
"You better be right Smokes," Low Ki warns. Smokes nods and looks really nervous.

Match 1 - B-Boy vs Gran Akuma
An intense and even match between members of rivalling factions here in MWA. Akuma gained the advantage when Icarus attacked B-Boy on the floor, hitting him with a Falcon Arrow. Julius Smokes showed that he had some tricks up his sleeve as well, pulling the ref out of the ring. The match then turned into a chop and kickfest, both wrestlers trying to one up the other. The end came when B-Boy took AKuma down with a backdrop driver. He then tried to follow up with the Cross Special Brain Buster, but Icarus pulled Akuma down from B-Boy's shoulders. As the ref admonishes Icarus, Gran Akuma hits the Falcon Arrow for the win.

Gran Akuma pinned B-Boy with the Falcon Arrow in 0:15:40.
Rating: ** 1/2
[Icarus interfered against B-Boy.]

Mark & Jay Briscoe vs The Brave and the Black (Marek Brave & Tyler Black)
Exciting tag-team action as the Black and the Brave squares off against the Briscoes. Jay and Mark utilised quick tags to their advantage in the opening minutes, isolating Tyler. When Tyler got his tag, Marek ran wild over the Briscoes, but were cut short by Jay who drilled Marek to the ground with a DDT. Marek barely got to tag back Tyler, who was eventually taken down with the Briscoes Bomb. It's three months until the tag-title tournament, and the Briscoes must definetely be the favorites.

The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated
The Black And The Brave (Tyler Black and Marek Brave) when M. Briscoe pinned
T. Black after the Briscoe Bomb in 0:09:42.
Rating: ** 3/4

Mickie Knuckles promo
The tough tomboy Mickie Knuckles is taping up her fists, getting ready for her match.
"Apparently, no women here in the midwest wants to fight me, so I have to
fight a midget with the name of Pelle Primeau. I actually thought midget tossing
was illegal in Illinois, but I guess I was wrong. Pelle, you're in a world of
hurt, you just don't know it yet!"

Match 3 - Mickie Knuckles vs Pelle Primeau
Pelle was actually a little hesitant to fight Mickie, not because he was scared, but because he was taught not to hit girls. Mickie didn't have any qualms about hitting boys, however, and started chopping Pelle before dumping him on his head with an overhead belly-to-belly. This got Pelle fired up, and he started fighting back. He sent her over the ropes with a clothesline, and dove at her. Mickie moved a little, sending Pelle into the barricades. Mickie then found a broomstick, and tried to stick it up a place where the sun never shines!

At this point, Pelle was irate, and fought Mickie as if she was the devil herself. Pelle proved his male superiority when he first gained a 2-count from a tornado DDT, then nailed Mickie with the Flying Stunner to win the match. After the match, Pelle wanted to repay Mickie by using the broomstick himself, but ref Sinclair stopped him from doing something he would regret.

Pelle Primeau pinned Mickie Knuckles with the Flying Stunner in 0:08:08.
Rating: ** 1/4

Intermission
Chuck Taylor is doing his self-promo taping again.
"Hi. I am Chuck Taylor, the most gorgeous guy alive, and the best wrestler in
MWA. Today, we talk about hair. My hair, as you surely can see, is a perfect
example of greatness. The chicks dig it, the guys dig it, even your momma digs
it! Hah!"
He walks through the hallway, talking to himself and the camera. Erick Stevens
is spotted in front of the camera.
"Now this is an example of a lousy hairstyle. I mean, the mohawk went out of
style in the late 80's. This is a typical hairstyle of bikers and other misfits,
just like Erick Stevens."
At this point, Stevens has turned around, a sour look on his face. Taylor laughs
nervously.
"I'm about to wrestle now, if you don't mind. In fact, I think my opponent is..
you!"
An elbow comes toward the camera, and everything goes dark.

Match 4 - Erick Stevens vs Chuck Taylor
This match apparently started backstage, as Stevens came out dragging Taylor behind him. Taylor gained the advantage when Stevens tried to enter the ring, stomping on his back and hitting a back senton. Taylor dragged Stevens around the ring, stomping away and locking in submission moves. Stevens tried to fire back with some hard punches, but was cut off with a gutbuster. Stevens was finally able to get back at Stevens, and even hit him with the Choo-Choo train. From there on, it wasn't long before he hit the Doctor Bomb.

Erick Stevens pinned Chuck Taylor after the Doctor Bomb in 0:13:17.
Rating: **

Match 5 - Aaron Epic vs Tony Kozina
The youngster Aaron Epic has had a hard time getting bookings here in MWA. Most of the time, he has been stuck with the ring crew and maybe one or two pre-show matches. It appeared as if he really seized this opportunity, as he more than held his own against the ring veteran Kozina. Kozina even tried a foul move or two, but Epic came back and hit the Serial Driller piledriver to win the match!

Aaron Epic pinned Tony Kozina with the Serial Driller in 0:13:02.
Rating: ** 3/4

The Gauntlet

It's time for the gauntlet, where the winner will gain a title shot against Low Ki tomorrow night! It was the leader of the Age of the Fall, Jimmy Jacobs, who faced off against "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson.
Anderson used his size advantage against Jacobs, but Jacobs is used to fighting bigger opponents, and possesses a tenacity that is unrivalled on the indy scene today. Jacobs hits the Contra Code on Anderson to advance.

Jimmy Jacobs pinned Karl Anderson with the Contra Code in 0:14:31.
Rating: ** 1/2

Next up was local boy Billy Roc, who took advantage of the fact that Jacobs was tired after fighting Anderson. Jacobs took down Roc with a spear and bought him some time. Roc was the freshest guy still, and hit a fisherman buster before he went up to the turnbuckle. Jacobs jumped up after him and hit a DDT, transisting immediately into the guillotine hold he calles the End Time. Roc taps right away.

Jimmy Jacobs made Billy Roc submit to a guillotine choke in 0:06:36.
Rating: **

"Shooter" Vordell Walker was next up on Jacobs' long way to gaining another title shot at Low Ki. Jacobs tried the same tactics as with Roc, buying some time with a spear. Hitting a spear on Walker is like hitting a brick wall, as Shooter stood his ground and hit a DDT on Jimmy. It looked as if Jacobs had to pull out his secret weapon, and as Bryce Remsburg recovered from an "unfortunate" ref bump, Jacobs hit Walker in the head with the railroad spike. Remsburg finally woke, but Jacobs only got two! Walker then tried to get a hold of Jacobs' leg, but Jacobs writhed his way out of it.
The two battled on the floor for a while, Walker softening up Jacobs' surgically repaired leg. Jacobs limped back into the ring, and had to tap out when Walker got hold of the ankle once again. Good match.

Vordell Walker made Jimmy Jacobs submit to an ankle lock in 0:10:38.
Rating: *** 1/2

Walker had two hindrances left, and first out was Icarus of Team F.I.S.T.
Not only was Icarus the fresh man, he also had Gran Akuma in his corner. Walker had to pace himself AND watch out for the numbers game. Akuma tried to interfere early on, but he then spotted the Briscoes waving to him from the crowd and changed his mind. Walker fought bravely against Icarus, and when he blocked a spear by putting a knee in Icarus' face, the Winged Warrior was ripe for the Vortex.

Vordell Walker pinned Icarus with the Vortex in 0:08:01.
Rating: *** 1/4

Vordell Walkers final step before he could claim a title shot against Low Ki was none other than the weasel Sal Rinauro, who thought he could cruise in to an easy title shot by being the final contestant in a gauntlet. By this point, the entire crowd was behind Vordell Walker and his quest for a title shot, and everything Rinauro did was meet with a chorus of boos.
Rinauro tried to end this quickly, ramming Vordell into the guard rail several times, but the determined Walker wouldn't stop fighting! Back in the ring, Rinauro went for the Phoenix Fury Legdrop, but Walker rolled away. When Rinauro came back up, the exhausted Walker met him with a small package to win a title shot!

Vordell Walker pinned Salvatore Rinauro after a small package in 0:09:09.
Rating: *** 3/4

Sal Rinauro promo
Rinauro is returning to the back, a disappointed look on his face.
"Well.. maybe it just wasn't time for Sal Rinauro to become heavyweight champ.
Tomorrow, I'm getting back on track by defeating... him.." Sal says, nodding
over to Erick Stevens who is walking by. "And tonight, I'm going to soften him
up like he did to the YRR last month." With those cryptic words, he motions
two ring rats to come over and picks up a bottle of scotch.

Main event - Austin Aries & Chris Sabin vs Low Ki & El Generico

Main event time, as Low Ki and El Generico takes on Austin Aries and Chris Sabin. Low Ki had his doubts about El Generico, and it looked like he was right about him, as Aries pummeled the masked luchador in the opening of the match. Low Ki tagged himself in and started working on Aries with some kicks. Aries tagged in Sabin, who used a variety of high-flying offensive on Ki, including a suicide dive. EL Generico does better later on, taking Sabin down for several close counts. The match fell apart eventually, with Aries and Generico going at it, and Ki and Sabin. Ki hit Sabin with a variety of kicks, setting up for the Warrior's Way double stomp. As he stood on the top rope, Aries pushed the ropes, taking away Ki's balance and causing him to fall to the mat. Sabin picked him up and hit the Cradle Shock for the win in a great match!

Chris Sabin and Austin Aries defeated El Generico and Low Ki when C. Sabin
pinned Ki with the Cradle Shock in 0:18:13.
Rating: ****

Sabin has pinned the heavyweight champ! If he petitions for a title match, he must surely get it!

Vordell Walker promo
Vordell Walker sits completely exhausted in the locker room. He tries to talk,
but only uncomprehensible words comes out of his mouth. He wipes some blood
of his face, blood caused already in the first match with Jimmy Jacobs. He
takes a sip of water, and is finally able to speak coherently.
"Tomorrow Low Ki, you will feel the power of the Shooter!"

Join us for tomorrow night! The following matches have already been signed:

Low Ki (c) vs Vordell Walker for the MWA Title
Austin Aries vs El Generico
Team FIST vs The Black and the Brave
Erick Stevens vs Sal Rinauro
and a four corner match featuring Jimmy Jacobs, Billy Roc, Jay Briscoe and Chuck Taylor!

MWA - Calm Before the Storm
Kankakee, Illinois

This was the second night of the Kankakee double shot, and the MWA wrestlers didn't disappoint. Low Ki defended his MWA Heavyweight Title against the winner of last night's gauntlet, Vordell Walker, Austin Aries faced the generic luchador, El Generico, and the Black and the Brave and Team F.I.S.T. had one of the best tag-team matches you'll see anywhere in professional wrestling today.

A recap from yesterdays main event is shown, where Chris Sabin pins the MWA
Heavyweight Champion.

El Generico is seen entering the premises, and Low Ki walks up to him. El
Generico is really nervous, as Low Ki warned him what would happen if they
didn't win yesterday.
"El Generico, you did well yesterday" Low Ki applauded him. "It was I who failed
us, not you. Good luck tonight against Aries."
El Generico is stunned, and feels if he is still in one piece.

Match 1 - B-Boy w/Julius Smokes vs Pelle Primeau
Pelle waged a guerilla war on B-Boy here tonight, trying to stay out of harms way, but at the same time trying to get some offense in. It worked for a while, as Pelle sent the New Age Punisher spinning with some ranas, and tried to knock him out with his running forearm smashes. B-Boy eventually got hold of Pelle, and hit him with a couple of power moves, ending it all with a double arm DDT to win the match. After the match, B-Boy shook Pelle's hand as a sign of respect.

B-Boy pinned Pelle Primeau after a double arm DDT in 0:08:07.

Match 2 - Karl Anderson vs Aaron Epic
Aaron Epic got his first win last night over Tony Kozina. Tonight, he took on a member of the legendary Anderson family, Karl "Machine Gun" Anderson.
Anderson used his strength and power to his advantage, and when that didn't work out, he used every trick in the book to wear Epic down. If that wasn't enough, "Sexy T" Chuck Taylor came down to the ringside with his own camera, talking about how unfair it was that this "ringrat" tried to steal HIS spotlight. Taylor didn't interfere, however, but when Anderson had won the match with the Spinebuster, Taylor jumped into the ring and put the boots to Epic, telling him that he was nothing.

Karl Anderson pinned Aaron Epic with the Spinebuster in 0:13:30.
Rating: ** 1/2

Match 3 - Mark Briscoe vs Tony Kozina
While the Briscoes patiently await the tag-title tournament, they try to up their singles work. Jay is busy in a four-corner match later tonight, while Mark squared off against Tony Kozina in the next match. Kozina with a slight advantage initially, but Mark turned the tides and dazzled the crowd with a beautiful dive into a headscissors. Kozina held his own, but Mark edged closer and closer to the win. A Frog Splash yielded a 2-count, and Mark turned up the pace, stomping the mat to get the crowd even more behind him. Briscoe hit a tornado DDT and then the Cutthroat Driver for the win.

Mark Briscoe pinned Tony Kozina with the Cutthroat Driver in 0:15:49.

Jimmy Jacobs promo
Jimmy Jacobs is preparing Marek Brave and Tyler Black before their important
match with Team FIST.
"In three months, MWA holds a tag-team title tournament, a tournament you two
are destined to win. You see, in this life, there are winners and there are
losers. Team FIST are by definition, losers. Once, they were proud, masked
warriors, but now, they stand unmasked, their shame painted across their
visages. They are corporate goons, working their asses of for Austin Aries,
who we all know are using you."

At this point, Marek Brave looks bewildered on Jimmy Jacobs, obviously implying
that Jacobs is doing the exact same thing.

"Myself.. Jimmy Jacobs.. is in a very important matchup tonight. A four-corner
survival match, with the winner climbing the ranks, perhaps for a title shot.
Yes, I failed the last time I battled Low Ki for the title, but as could be
witnessed yesterday, his strength is faltering, his resolve is weakened. He is
ripe for the pickings, a delicious fruit that I, Jimmy Jacobs will harvest.
Just wait and see." Jacobs walks out.

"What the hell is he talking about?" Brave asks, incredulously.
"You shouldn't doubt Jimmy. He knows what he is talking about," Tyler says.

Match 4 - Team F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma & Icarus) vs The Black and the Brave (Tyler Black & Marek Brave)
Lots of lucha action to start this one off. Even though the Black and the Brave is allied with the demented Jimmy Jacobs, they got the crowd behind them, simply because nobody likes Team FIST anyway.

Black and Brave dished out some nice double action, utilizing crisp and fast-paced moves to take out Icarus. Team FIST's strategy was to isolate Tyler Black, slowly dismantling his arm with a variety of submission moves and targeted attacks to his appendage. The end was as fast-paced and action packed as you could expect, Icarus going for the Sliced Bread, but Black blocking and hitting God's Last Gift for a two-count. Gran Akuma hit Brave with the Pyramid Bomb, but Black broke it up. Pinfall after pinfall was broken up, until Akuma hit Black with the Pyramid Bomb. Instead of going for the pin, he tossed Black outside and signalled for Brave to go for the
F.I.S.T. Drop. Black tried to get back in the ring, but was stopped short by Austin Aries who ran out to help his allies. Team F.I.S.T wins this incredible battle!

Team F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma and Icarus) defeated
The Black And The Brave (Tyler Black and Marek Brave) when Akuma pinned M. Brave
after the F.I.S.T. Drop in 0:28:55.
Rating: ****

Match 5 - Billy Roc vs Chuck Taylor vs Jay Briscoe vs Jimmy Jacobs in 4 corner survival
Intense action in this four-corner match as well. Jay Briscoe and Jimmy Jacobs takes turn kicking Billy Roc's gut, as Chuck Taylor prefers to stay on the apron, avoiding any tags and trying to cease an opportunity without putting himself in too much harm. In a strange twist, Jacobs and Briscoe suddenly hiptossed Taylor into the ring, starting to work over him. Jay hit Taylor with the J-Driller, while Jimmy hit a senton. After being on the wrong end of a beatdown, Chucky T. decided to call it quits and left.

Billy Roc tried to fight his way back into the match, and succeeded somewhat, taking Jay and Jimmy down with a combined headscissors and armdrag. Billy is still young, however, and when Jimmy started working over him, it was only a matter of when, not if, Roc went down. Jacobs hit the Contra Code, but his leg buckled when he landed, and he couldn't go for the pin. Jay ceased the opportunity and hit a flying senton on Roc, giving him the win.

After the match, the Black and the Brave come out to help Jimmy back, but he pushes them off, limping to the back.

Four Corners Match:
Jay Briscoe defeated Billy Roc, Jimmy Jacobs and Chuck Taylor when J. Briscoe
pinned B. Roc after a flying senton in 0:20:00.

Salvatore Rinauro promo
The weasel-like Sal Rinauro is cutting a backstage promo with a young ringrat.
"So, last night.. I told you to go out and hit on Erick Stevens, right? Did you two go back to his room?"
The cute ringrat nods.
"Great, and did you drink heavily?"
"Yeah, I had to pee several times."
"OK.. more information than I needed, but hey.. and did you go to bed with him?"
"Sure did. He had a big bed."
"Great! Now HE is the one who is hung over and sexually exhausted."
"Well... I don't know about that.. we just had smoochies. And we slept soundly the whole night."
"What?? Didn't I tell you to drink heavily and get him to bed?"
"Yeah.. and I did.. did you want me to have sex with him? Gross. I'm only 19 you know."
"Perfect... this is just... perfect."

Match 6 - Erick Stevens vs Sal Rinauro
Sal Rinauro's plan backfired, as Erick Stevens didn't fall for Rinauro's "whiskey and a girl" ruse. Rinauro tried to offset this by attacking Stevens before the bell, but Stevens no-sold his puny offense and started going to work on Rinauro. After a couple of minutes, Chuck Taylor came back in, surprised to see that the fourway was over, and that another match had started. He decided to fuck around with Stevens, as he draped Rinauro's foot across the ropes. Stevens did not let that phase him, and focused on the task at hand. A senton finished Rinauro. After the match, Rinauro actually vomitted, Stevens' senton obviously upsetting his delicate stomach.

Erick Stevens pinned Salvatore Rinauro after a senton in 0:06:39.
Rating: ** 1/2
[Chuck Taylor interfered against Erick Stevens.]

Match 7 - Austin Aries vs El Generico
This promised to be a classic of a match, and they didn't disappoint. They started trading holds, before El Generico quickened the pace with some lucha action, forcing Aries to retreat for a time out. A short chopfest ensued, before El Generico started hitting some key maneuvers. A split legged moonsault was followed by the 450 splash, a move that Aries himself is quite well known for. Aries gained the momentum after a low blow behind the ref's back, and starting working over El Generico's neck, setting up for the Horns of Aries.

The match winded up on the outside, Aries ramming El Genericos frame into the guardrails. El Generico stopped the onslaught when he suplexed Aries on the concrete floor. The match ended up back in the ring, where Generico hit the Brainbustah on Aries. Generico was too tired to make the cover at once, and Aries managed to kick out. Generico went for another brainbuster, but as they landed, Aries turned around and bridged up for the Horns of Aries. El Generico's neck had obviously been injured throughout the match, as the masked man tapped at once. Austin, however, refused to let go, and ref Sinclair couldn't break the hold. Low Ki ran out, and Aries hurried away, warning Low Ki to stay out of his business.

Austin Aries made El Generico submit to the Horns of Aries in 0:23:23.

Chris Sabin - pretaped promo
"Last night in Kankakee, I pinned Low Ki, the so-called champ of this unimportant promotion. Now, I did this as a favor to Austin Aries who needed my help, not because I wanted a title shot. Still, people are telling me that I can claim a title shot after last night's win. So I get on the phone with my agent, who calls the MWA booker to ask what he can offer me. Sure, I can have a title match, but the pay? Ridiculous. I make more money losing a match on Xplosion, so why put my body on the line for a belt I don't want against a guy who, admittedly, is one tough son of a bitch. No way. So until a better offer comes my way, this will be the last MWA sees of me!"

Match 8 - Vordell Walker vs Low Ki (c) for the MWA Heavyweight Title
Vordell Walker had his chance of a lifetime here tonight, fighting for the promotion's biggest title against Low Ki.

Walker took his opportunity by force, showing no respect for Low Ki as he pummeled the champ by all his strength. This all culminated in the Vortex, but Ki kicked out. Something snapped within Ki now, as he realized that he was about to lose his title in what could be considered a major upset. He went inside himself and started working on Walker, kicking his thighs and shoulders with devastating kicks.

This was yet another long match here tonight, but the fans were far from disappointed. Ki hit the Warrior's Way on Walker, but before Ki could make the pin, Walker locked in a devastating armbar on Ki. Ki was inches away from tapping, but reached the ropes. A stiff forearm battled followed, but Ki ducked a running forearm and hit a spin kick followed by a legsweep. Ki hit the Ki Krusher and another Warrior's Way to retain.

After the match, both men got a standing ovation for their efforts.

Low Ki pinned Vordell Walker with the Warrior's Way in 0:23:06.
Rating: ****
(Low Ki retained the MWA Heavyweight Title.)

I'm glad you're using Vordell Walker, because I think he's awesome. I'm surprised he hasn't made more of an impact on the indy scene.
rey619Posted on 04/28/08 at 17:26:02

He was about to break out for full when he suffered a bad knee injury and had to take six months off back in 2006. After that, he hasn't been booked by neither ROH or FIP, though he does have several bookings by AWA World South-1. I think he is an intense and powerful wrestler that brings a touch of MMA into the game, and that's what I'm trying to do with him here as well.
AzraelPosted on 04/30/08 at 04:01:50

I really enjoy this circuit, even if I'm not familiar with about a fourth of your roster. You make Sal Rinauro so ridiculously slimy, it's great.

Good match between Ki and Walker too. It'll be interesting to see if Walker can get any higher in the card due to the result.

Familiarity with 3/4 of my roster actually shows that you have an above average knowledge of the indy scene.

Looking back on my shows, Walker has consistenly been at about the ***-area, so he is a solid worker. Low Ki carried him the extra mile, I guess.

Everyone on my initial roster was signed to a 6-month deal. As it is now expired, expect to see some changes as not everyone wanted to (or I wanted to) resign.

If I was someone else on this board, we could have a draft where you could vote on who I would hire.

But we're not doing that.

MWA News

MWA returns to Indiana and its oldest city, Vincennes, already next week to celebrate Independence Day. That's right, MWA's next show will be held at the 4th of July!

Austin Aries, Jimmy Jacobs and Vordell Walker are already booked elswhere, but MWA promises a great night of action.

Matches signed are:

Local lads Billy Roc and Aaron Epic are tired of bullies like Chuck Taylor and Karl Anderson, and have challenged them to a tag-match.

Team F.I.S.T. and the YRR will both be in the tag-title tournament next month, and will be vying for position in the semi-main event of the night.

LuFisto beat Mickie Knuckles at Collison Course. Now, Knuckles want revenge, in a match type her mentor Ian Rotten specialized in - a taped fist match.

The main event will pit Jay Briscoe, El Generico and Low Ki against each other. If Low Ki doesn't win, the winner will get a future title shot. Will El Generico turn out to be more than a great wrestler? Someone who can actually win as well?

Other talent that will be present: The Black & the Brave, the Rottweilers, Sal Rinauro, Mark Briscoe and more.

Tag-team titles: The tag-team titles will be handed out to the winning team of an 8-team tournament, which will be held over the course of MWA's first triple shot weekend, to be held 22-24 of August in Joliet, Il; Eldorado, Il and South Bend, In.

Teams signed so far:
- The Briscoes
- Team F.I.S.T
- The Rottweilers
- The Black and the Brave
- The YRR (Sal Rinauro & Chasyn Rance)

The Briscoes are big favorites, can someone else do the impossible and defeat the self-proclaimed best tag-team in the world?

MWA Happy 4th of July
Vincennes, Indiana
Attendance: 344

It's 4th of July, 2-3 of MWA's top talent was booked elswehere, but MWA drew a nice crowd here at the honorable city of Vincennes. Tonight, El Generico and Jay Briscoe gets a chance to earn a title shot, and the two toughest ladies in wrestling, Mickie Knuckles and LuFisto, faces each other in a taped fist match.

Match 1 - B-Boy vs Tyler Black
B-Boy of the Rottweilers and Tyler Black of the Age of the Fall had the opening match here in beautiful Vincennes. Black had fallen to B-Boy's friend, Low Ki, not long ago, and it looked like B-Boy had received a tip or two about Black, as the New Age Punisher was able to methodically take Tyler apart. Black blocked the Cross Special Brainbuster attempt, but instead, B-Boy used a Spin Doctor to get the win.

B-Boy pinned Tyler Black after the Spin Doctor in 0:07:11.
Rating: ** 1/2

Match 2 - Aaron Epic & Billy Roc vs Chuck Taylor & Karl Anderson
Local lads Billy Roc and Aaron Epic have had enough of being bullied around by the more experienced guys, such as Chuck Taylor and Karl Anderson. That was the backstory for this match. However, much to the young guys' chagrin, Taylor and Anderson continued the bullying, this time in the ring, isolating young Billy Roc from making the save. Taylor even hit the Omega Driver, but Billy Roc found the strength to kick out. Roc made the save, and Epic cleaned house until Anderson eye gouged him and hit him with the Spinebuster. Taylor then hit the Omega Driver on Epic for the win.

Billy Roc was obviously frustrated after the match, and told Aaron Epic that he was disappointed in him. Billy Roc then powerbombed Epic and told him to get lost.

Chuck Taylor and Karl Anderson defeated Billy Roc and Aaron Epic when C. Taylor
pinned A. Epic with the Omega Driver in 0:11:44.
Rating: * 3/4

Michael Elgin promo
Michael Elgin is cutting a promo in ring.
"Well, today is USA's Independence Day. A day for celebration. Well, you know
what? I'm Canadian, so I really don't care about your precious Indenpendence
Day. And you know what else? I'm here to ruin the day for you by defeating
my opponent. So you can chant USA USA all you want, Canada is going home the
winner!"

Match 3 - Tony Kozina vs Michael Elgin
His opening promo did its trick, as the fans chanted USA USA and cheered on "Tornado" Tony Kozina. The chants did its trick on Elgin, who retreated to the outside and jaw-jacked with the fans. He was pulled back into the ring by Kozina, but changed the momentum with a back elbow. Elgin then started working on Kozina's knee, much to the crowd's displeasure. Kozina tried to mount a comeback, but Elgin cut it off with a dropkick to the knee. After some more punishment, Elgin missed an avalanche, and Kozina tried to go high risk. His leg buckled, and Elgin brought him down with the powerslam for the win.

Michael Elgin pinned Tony Kozina after a powerslam in 0:08:42.
Rating: * 3/4

Match 4 - Mark Briscoe vs Sal Rinauro
The Briscoes are on a roll in singles action, and Mark Briscoe dominated this match from the get-go. It wasn't until Mark missed a frog splash, that Sal got a few moves in. Mark quickly got back on offense, punishing the slimy weasel. Rinauro seemed to have nine lives in this one, even kicking out of the Cutthroat Driver. The YRR ran out and jumped Jay Briscoe from behind (Jay was Mark's cornerman), and then got on the apron. Mark springboarded off the turnbuckle, dropkicked Rance off the apron and hit a tornado DDT on Sal. King ran in and broke the cover, causing the disqualification. The YRR stomped away on Jay until Mark recovered, bringing a chair into the ring and chasing away the YRR. Mark did win by DQ, but everyone knew he had Sal's number.

Mark Briscoe defeated Salvatore Rinauro by disqualification in 0:11:50.
Rating: ****
[Kenny King interfered against Mark Briscoe.]

The YRR promo
the YRR are in the back, and Sal is nursing his headache.
"Tonight, after we beat team FIST, we're going out for a real 4th of July party,
even though we're in the middle of nowhere," Rance started out. "It's gonna
be women, alcohol, food... fireworks... it's gonna be great!"
"And next month, when the YRR wins the tag-title tournament, the women will
come easier than they already are," King continued. "They will come to you,
'Unrated' Sal Rinauro, to you, Chasyn Rance, and of course, to me, the King of
Africa!"

Match 5 - Team F.I.S.T. vs The YRR
Last week, Team FIST cemented their position as one of the primary favorites for the tag-team titles, by defeating the Black and the Brave in a 30-minute classic. Tonight, the YRR was in the opposite corner. And even though these two teams had, on occasion, been on the same page in the Rottweilers/Power Pack conflict, tonight was all about gaining the win and the momentum before going into the tournament.

The crowd didn't really know who to cheer on, as neither team are very nice. Icarus got some sympathy when the YRR isolated him for a good five minutes, but you couldn't help feel sorry for King when Akuma later treated him to a barrage of kicks. Valerie Malone, the YRR's beautiful valet got on the apron, and Icarus accidentally knocked her down. He got out to check on her, and got into a shoving war with Kenny King. In the ring, Chasyn Rance went for a suplex, but Akuma blocked it and hit a small package for the win. Team F.I.S.T stood triumphant in the ring as the YRR slowly walked to the back... only to be attacked by the Briscoes who came out from the back! The YRR was getting their asses kicked, until team FIST decided to join in the fight! The battle lines for the tournament have been drawn!

While the fighting went on, Sal Rinauro snuck in from the back and carefully evacuated Valerie Malone, almost risking his life in doing so.

Team F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma and Icarus) defeated YRR (Chasyn Rance and Kenny King)
when Akuma pinned C. Rance after a small package in 0:16:59.
Rating: ** 1/4
[Valerie Malone interfered against Icarus.]

Match 6 - Marek Brave vs Joker
B-Boy defeated Tyler Black earlier tonight, and now, JOker would face Black's tag-team partner, Marek Brave. The first few minutes were a technical match, with both wrestlers feeling each other out and locking on various holds. The match intensity increased after that, but the crowd was less than interested in this one. Brave won it with his Pinning Spear.

Marek Brave pinned Joker with the Pinning Spear in 0:13:07.
Rating: *

Match 7 - LuFisto vs Mickie Knuckles in a Taped Fist Match
Maybe a little women's hardcore action would get the crowd going, as the Missionary of Violence, LuFisto, faced Mickie Knuckles in a Taped Fist match. These two have battled before in MWA, and Knuckles really wanted revenge. They traded stiff punches in the opening minutes, until Mickie brought LuFisto down with a german. Mickie tossed LuFisto around like a rag doll, until LuFisto caught a break, backdropping Knuckles out of the ring. Even though this was a hardcore match, it is always room for some high-flying, as LuFisto dove out and hit a beautiful rana.

The match reverted back to a punching style, but LuFisto found the opportunity to hit Mickie with the Emerald Fusion, the move that put her away at Collision Course. This time Mickie kicked out! A stiff punching game ensued, until Knuckles ducked a roaring elbow and hit a spinning back fist for the win. After the match, close ups of both girls showed several bruises on their face and collarbones.

Taped Fist Match:
Mickie Knuckles pinned LuFisto after a spinning back fist in 0:11:35.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match 8 - Jay Briscoe vs El Generico vs Low Ki in a non-title match
Time for the main event. It was non-title, but if someone else but Low Ki won, he would receive a title shot in the future.

It looked as if Jay and El Generico were working together to take down Ki, as they double teamed the champion in the opening moments of the match. The alliance broke down when Jay missed a Stinger Splash, and Generico deciding that he would kick Jay's head of with a mafia kick. Low Ki hitting the Koppo Kick on Jay mere moments later didn't help either. With Jay out of the match, at least temporarily, Low Ki and El Generico went at it. These two tagged together back at Running the Gauntlet, and while Low Ki didn't like El Generico as his partner, it was, in fact, Low Ki who was pinned by Chris Sabin. Now, Generico wanted to prove himself again to Ki, powerbombing him and hitting a tiger suplex for a two-count.

Jay came back into the match, but was the primary victim in a tower of doom spot, which saw Low Ki powerbomb Generico while the masked luchador superplexed Jay. Low Ki then went up high for the Warrior's Way, but Generico rolled away and Ki hit the ground awkwardly, hurting his leg. Generico slowly got back to his feet, but Jay brought him down with a roll up to win himself a future title shot.

After the match, Mark came out to congraulate Jay. Jay grabbed a mic and told Ki that he could have his title for himself for a while, as Jay wanted to keep his promise to his brother and win the tag belts first.

Triangle Match:
Jay Briscoe defeated El Generico and Low Ki when J. Briscoe pinned Generico
after a roll up in 0:16:24.
Rating: **** 1/4

That's all for now! Next week, MWA rolls back to Illinois for its debut show in Eldorado!

MWA News

In just over a month, the MWA Tag Titles will be decided over the course of a triple shot weekend here in the midwest. We still have a few teams to round out the brackets, but the big news is that MWA has emptied its coffers to bring in one of the hottest tag-teams on the scene right now. That's right, the Motor City Machine Guns are coming to MWA! This will be even more interesting, as there is a conflict brewing between Chris Sabin and the MWA Heavyweight Champion, after Sabin pinned Ki clean in the middle of the ring in the dream partner tag-team match at Running the Gauntlet last month. Chris Sabin stated the following on his webpage.

"Well, so it seems that I'm heading out to that dreadful MWA again. I have said earlier that I wouldn't not return until the offer is right, and now it is. Myself and Alex will be payed a princely sum to take part in their pitiful tag-team tournament, a tournament we will breeze through. As for Low Ki, well, I still haven't been offered a good deal for a one-on-one match with you, so that won't happen. I'm not going to sweat a drop until the money's at the table.
As for tomorrow's show in Eldorado, aptly named Goldrush, we have an interesting card lined up.

* Jimmy Jacobs and Austin Aries will colide in the main event. They both feel that they deserve another shot at Low-Ki, well now they have the chance. The winner will receive a future title shot.

* The Briscoes are looking good going into the tag-title tournament. They have already beaten the YRR and Team FIST. Only one major tag-team is left, and that is the Rottweilers. These two teams will get it on!

* LuFisto and Mickie Knuckles have one victory each against each other. This bloody women's feud will end here tonight with a dog collar match.

* Jimmy Jacobs have sent Tyler Black to other promotions, trying to spread his teachings. That means Marek Brave is without a partner for the tag-title tournament. Jacobs will team with him there, but tomorrow, Brave will try to silence the young upstart Billy Roc.

* The YRR and Team FIST are jockeying for positions before the tag-team tournament. Tomorrow, they will meet in singles action. Kenny King will take on Icarus, and Chasyn Rance will do battle with Gran Akuma.

+ more, starring Vordell Walker, Chuck Taylor, Michael Elgin, Sal Rinauro, Low Ki and the debuting Fast Eddie Vegas!

MWA Goldrush 07.11.08
Eldorado, Il
Attendance: 733

The Briscoe's are getting ready for the show.
Jay: "So tonight, we're facing the Rottweilers.."
Mark: "Yeah.. them dawgs.. woof..woof.."
Jay: "And next month baby, tag-titles.."
Mark: "Yeah, them titles around OUR waists, we don't care bout no machine guns"
Jay: "Machine Guns, dogs, fist-people, party-people or whatever."
Mark: "It's time to man up boys and dawgs"
Jay: "Yeah, man up!"

Match 1 - Billy Roc vs Marek Brave
Well, after that mildly confusing interview, we go to the ring where Billy Roc is facing Marek Brave. Last week, we saw an attitude change in young Billy Roc, when he attacked partner for the night, Aaron Epic after losing to Chuck Taylor and Karl Anderson. He was cocky and disrespectful to the fans tonight as well, but backed it up with some good wrestling in the ring. Marek Brave did just find out that his long time tag team partner, Tyler Black, is not returning to MWA, something which was lodged in the back of Brave's mind. Roc took advantage of this hesitancy when he hit his patented LBM Splash (Frog Splash) for the win.

Billy Roc pinned Marek Brave with the LBM Splash in 0:08:27.
Rating: * 3/4

After the match, Jimmy Jacobs came out to console Marek Brave, but the two instead got into a heated argument. Jacobs told him not to worry, as they would be tag-team champs soon.

Match 2 - Chasyn Rance w/the YRR vs Gran Akuma w/Icarus
This was the first of two matches pitting members of Team FIST against members of the YRR. While not exactly enemies, both teams want that small advantage beforing going into the tag tournament. This was far from a one-on-one match though, as both teams had help ringside. Icarus for Gran Akuma, and Kenny King, Sal Rinauro and a couple of random broads for Rance.
Those random broads sure did enough, though, as they shoved Akuma of the ropes when he went high-risk. That prompted Icarus to take action, but King and Rinauro got in their way, Rinauro getting the ladies to the back as King and Icarus brawled on the floor, a prelude to their match later tonight. As King took Icarus down and readied a chair-shot, Akuma took action and baseball slid King to the barricades. Rance got out of the ring as well, and the four men battled to the back. The ref had no choice but to rule this a double countout!

Gran Akuma and Chasyn Rance battled to a double countout in 0:17:38.
Rating: ** 3/4
[Kenny King and Random broad # 2 interfered against Gran Akuma.]

Match 3 - Chuck Taylor vs Michael Elgin
Chuck Taylor started hassling Elgin for being fat, even going so far as to steal a fans' platter of nachos, telling Elgin he'd probably get hungry later on, even though he just witnessed him eating a jumbo bucket of KFC.
Taylor's cocky antics continued throughout the match, Taylor even faking (obviously) a back injury when he couldn't bodyslam the heavyset Elgin (who's actually only 35 lbs heavier than Taylor). His shenanigans allowed Elgin to mount an offense. This was quickly cut off as Taylor poked him in his eye, prompting him to shout that this fat kid also needed glasses!

Taylor wins it with the Omega Driver, but Taylor's antics was more enjoyable than the match itself.

Chuck Taylor pinned Michael Elgin with the Omega Driver in 0:14:07.
Rating: **

Match 4 - Sal Rinauro vs Vordell Walker
Sal Rinauro and Vordell Walker were next. Walker had impressed so far in MWA, even winning himself a title match against Low Ki at Running the Gauntlet. Walker had come up short against the champ, but had turned a head or two in the process. Rinauro is probably the most hated man in MWA, and his stalling tactcis at the beginning of the match didn't help much. Walker eventually got a hold of Rinauro, using a lot of ground and pound techniques on him. Rinauro consistently took breathers on the outside, taking time to jawjack with fans. Inside, Walker finally had enough and finished him off with the Vortex.

As Walker celebrated, Rinauro took the mic and told him that Walker had caught him unaware, and that he wanted another chance. He propositioned to turn this match into a 2/3 falls match, and Walker reluctantly agreed. As Walker went to his corner to wipe his face off with a towel, Rinauro took action and rolled Walker up. With the help of pulling the trunks AND using the ropes as leverage, Rinauro got the equalizer. The fans and Walker were furious, especially when Sal tried to stall again. Walker ran after him, and Rinauro slid back in, trying to use the age old heel trick of stomping the opponent when he rolled back in. Rinauro stomped a couple of times, but then missed an elbow drop. When he came back up, Walker levelled him with a clothesline and hit another Vortex to finish the match. A great match between one of the most popular, and one of the most unpopular guys in MWA!

Two-out-of-three-Falls Match:
Vordell Walker beat Salvatore Rinauro 2 falls to 1:
x V. Walker beat Sal via the Vortex in 0:06:49
x Sal beat V. Walker via a small package in 0:07:17
x V. Walker beat Sal via the Vortex in 0:10:54

Match 5 - Icarus w/Gran Akuma vs Kenny King w/the YRR
Round two of the YRR vs Team FIST contest tonight. King and Icarus were obviously a little beaten up by their altercation earlier, but they wasted no time laying it to each other. As they started wrestle, both Rance AND Akuma came out together, indicating by their hand movements that they had agreed not to interfere. As they went to their separate corners, Rance indicated that he has had his fingers crossed behind his back, while Akuma silently mouthed to a camera: "What a smuck!"

It was Akuma who broke the promise first, tripping King as he went for a spear on Icarus. That brought Rance over to brawl with Akuma, taking him out of the equation... and giving Sal Rinauro (although a little worse for the wear) out to hit Icarus in the back with a chair. King brought Icarus down with the Burning Hammer for the win.

Kenny King pinned Icarus with the Burning Hammer in 0:16:32.
Rating: * 1/4
[Random broad #1 and Sal Rinauro interfered against Icarus.]
[Gran Akuma interfered against Kenny King.]

Match 6 - Fast Eddie Vegas vs Low Ki in non-title action
The newest member of the MWA roster, Fast Eddie Vegas came out and told everyone how great he is. He challenged anyone in the back to a match, and to the crowd's great delight, none other than Low Ki came out!
Obviously, the title was not on the line in this one, but Ki wasted no time laying out chops and kicks to Fast Eddie. Eddie did have a trick or two up his sleeve, and really thought he had it won with a huge superplex. Low Ki isn't a dominant champ for nothing, and brought Eddie back to the real world with a Ki Krusher. He didn't pin him then and there, but hit the Warrior's Way footstomp to send a message to his many contenders, Chris Sabin, Jay Briscoe and Austin Aries/Jimmy Jacobs.

Low Ki pinned Fast Eddie Vegas with the Warrior's Way in 0:10:25.

Match 7 - LuFisto vs Mickie Knuckles in a Dog Collar Match

It's time for some women's action, as LuFisto and Mickie Knuckles settled their score in a dog collar's match. No real hate going on here, just two tough girls trying to prove who's the best. This one was brutal, as ringsteps, chairs and the barricades were taken into use. Even tables, as LuFisto brought Knuckles through one with a Northern Lights Bomb. They bloodied each other with punches using the collar's chain, and it was Mickie who got the win when she used the chain in combination with a cravate until LuFisto faded into unconsciousness.

Dog Collar Match:
Mickie Knuckles defeated LuFisto when LuFisto passed out in a cravate in
0:10:34.
Rating: *** 1/4

After the match, and after LuFisto had regained her bearings, Mickie asked LuFisto if she would be her partner in the tag-team tournament, telling her that after what they had put each other through, imagine what they could put others through. LuFisto accepted, and they shook hands. We have a girl's team in the tournament!

Match 7 - The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark) vs The Rottweilers (B-Boy & Joker)
The Briscoes have run rampant through the tag-team ranks in MWA, but they haven't faced the Rottweilers yet. B-Boy and Joker didn't want the Briscoes to have too much of a confidence going into next month's tournament, and gave them a heck of a fight here. The Rottweilers isolated Mark, targetting his head and neck with all their attacks, knowing his history with neck and head injuries. Even Julius Smokes did what he could to help, choking Mark when the two others had the ref distracted. Then, Low Ki came down and started yelling at Smokes about playing fair. Ki got into an argument with all three of his Rottweiler colleagues, which allowed Mark to slip through Joker's hands and tag Jay. The fresh Jay layed out the law, and the match turned into chaos. Jay threw B-Boy to the outside, accidentally (?) clipping Low Ki as well. This gave the Briscoes the opportunity to finish of Joker with the assisted power bomb. After the match, Jay motioned to Ki that he was going for his belt. Smokes and the Rottweilers tried to reason with Ki about what he was doing, but Ki waved them off.

Match 8 - Austin Aries vs Jimmy Jacobs in a top contenders match
Time for the main event, as Jimmy Jacobs and Austin Aries went at it for a shot at the MWA Heavyweight Title. Now, in any other promotion, the fans would cheer for Aries and boo Jacobs, but this time it was different. Not that Jacobs was super popular, but Aries actions had really turned the crowd against him. In the match, Aries controlled Jimmy through a variety of rest holds, but did find the time to power him to the ground with several hard hitting moves, including a clothesline that turned Jimmy upside down. Jimmy started feeling the effects of the beating, but the thought of the MWA Title must have turned on a light within him, for suddenly he started no-selling Aries' offense, and mounting one his own. He even hit the Contra Code, but Aries was too close to the ropes. Jimmy went for the End Time, but as he chinched it in, Aries didn't fall to his knees like most of Jimmy's opponents did. Instead, he drove him into the turnbuckle, forcing him to lose his hold. Aries climbed to the top and hit the 450 SPlash, and then locked in the Horns of Aries. The crowd chanted "please don't tap" at Jimmy, and he didn't! Unfortunately, the strength abandoned him, forcing the ref to give the win to Aries.

Austin Aries defeated Jimmy Jacobs when Jimmy Jacobs passed out in the
Horns of Aries in 0:22:16.
Rating: **** 1/4

After the match, Aries called out Low Ki. Ki appeared with the title belt around his waist. Aries told Low Ki that he wanted his title shot at the last night of the triple shot weekend next month. Ki accepted, but stated that he didn't want any interference, so he was making the match a cage match! Aries said that was fine with him. As he put his mic down, Gran Akuma and Icarus came from behind and attacked Low Ki. Aries soon joined in the beating, and the fight was complete when the Briscoes came to help Low Ki! The Power Pack retreated, and Low Ki and Jay had an intense staredown before Jay extended his hand to Low Ki. Nice of the Briscoes to help Ki, but where were the Rottweilers?

MWA - Uno - 22.08.08
Joliet, Illinois
Attendance: 1731

Well, we're back where it all started eight months ago, in Joliet, Illinois. And it was good thing that MWA has moved venues, as the old one would definetely not have held the record crowd that poured through the doors. To all of you, thanks for making the first of three successive nights of Midwest action so special!

Low Ki promo
Low Ki is working out in his locker room, jumping rope. He puts it down and
turns towards the camera.
"Just like at Goldrush, Low Ki is wishing a new member of MWA welcome. This
time, Matt Cross. Matt, I've heard a lot about you. They say you're a hell of
a gymnast. Gymnast. This is wrestling, and when I kick your head in, nobody
cares how many revolutions you can do. As the Rottweilers go, after this weekend,
we have full control of the belts here in MWA. Tag-titles AND the World title."

Match 1 - Billy Roc vs Vordell Walker
Local lad has become somewhat of a pain in the ass as of late, even running another local youngster, Aaron Epic, out of the company. Now he faced crowd favorite Vordell Walker, originally from the South. Roc couldn't take the fact that the crowd loved Walker way more than him, and spent a lot of the opening minutes yelling at the crowd, trying to force them into liking him. He even tried the Jedi trick, which prompted the Joliet crowd into chanting "You're not Obi-Wan" at him.

Billy had a few tricks up his sleeve, but Vordells athleticism and hard-hitting power was too much for the youngster. Walker targetted Roc's leg, setting up for the ankle lock. And even though Roc rolled out of the lock at first, Walker was right back at it, even pulling Roc back from the ropes, only inches away. The psychological effect of that must have been grave, as Roc immediately tapped.

Vordell Walker made Billy Roc submit to an ankle lock in 0:12:33.

Match 2 - The YRR (Sal Rinauro & Chasyn Rance) w/Random Broad #1 & Random Broad #2 vs The Rottweilers (B-Boy & Joker) w/Julius Smokes - MWA Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
Kenny King had other commitments this weekend, so Sal Rinauro stepped in. Chasyn Rance didn't look too unconcerned about that fact. Let's face it, Kenny King is quite big, while Sal is of a more small stature and cowardly disposition. Unlike himself, Sal wanted to start the match. He was promptly grounded by B-Boy, who used quick tags with Joker to keep Sal down. Chasyn had to do something, and told Random Broad # 1 to do something. The sultry brunette jumped up on the apron and flashed her tits to B-Boy, who was distracted enough for Sal to make the tag.

Now it was B-Boy's turn to get the double action, Sal and Chasyn hitting him with one double move after another. J-Train had another idea though, as he baited Sal to accept a sip from his hip flask, allowing B-Boy to tag Joker. All hell broke loose now, as the Rottweilers worked over Chasyn, the Random Broads tried to distract the Rottweilers and Sal running after Julius Smokes and his hip flask. The finish came when Sal, after stealing the hip flask from Smokes, squirted liqueur in Joker's eyes. Rance gave him a neckbreaker before B-Boy wiped himself and Rance over the ropes with a clothesline. Sal climbed up top and hit the Phoenix Fury Legdrop for the win.

The YRR (Chasyn Rance and Salvatore Rinauro) defeated
The Rottweilers (B-Boy and Joker) when Sal pinned Joker with the
Phoenix Fury Legdrop in 0:13:48.
Rating: ** 3/4

After the match, the Rottweilers were quite upset about losing, but when Sal, in his big heart, told them that they could party with the random broads tonight as a consolation price, their moods visibly brightened. As they all leave the ringside area together, the camera pans to the bleachers, where Low Ki is shaking his head, clearly disapproving of his friends' actions.

Match 3 - Women's Wrath (LuFisto & Mickie Knuckles) vs Team F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma & Icarus) - MWA Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
Women's Wrath is upon us! More specifically, they're on Team FIST.
Before the match, Icarus and Akuma said they wouldn't fight girls, as that wasn't right. As they turned to leave, the girls clubbed them in the back. Seems as if they have no choice! They laid into the guys with all their power, double-chopping Icarus and giving Akuma a pair of stiff forearms. Finally, the guys understood that they really needed to fight back, and started to give back. Icarus took Mickie out to the floor, sending her crashing into the guardrail. In the ring, Akuma took control over LuFisto, hitting her with a Pyramid Bomb and then a moonsault. Mickie had reversed an irish whip from Icarus and sent him into the rail, but was a few inches short of breaking up the pin. Team FIST advances.

Women's Wrath (LuFisto and Mickie Knuckles) when Akuma pinned M. Knuckles after
a moonsault in 0:06:37.

Match 4 - Low Ki vs Matt Cross in a non-title match
Quite the test for Matt Cross tonight, going against the MWA Champion. It looks like this will be some kind of tradition here in MWA, newcomers testing their mettle in non-title matches with the current champ. Anyway, Cross didn't disappoint his fans, showing off some great aerial maneuvers that caught Ki unawares, for example an asai moonsault into a tornado DDT that really rocked Ki. Cross showed that he could fly as well, wiping out Ki with a Space FLying Tiger Driver (or something). The finish came when Cross went for a handspring leg lariat. Ki caught him, and with a smile, dropped him with the Ki Krusher for the win.

Low Ki pinned Matt Cross after the Ki Krusher in 0:10:29.
Rating: **

After the match, Ki extended the hand to Cross, congratulating him on a good match and welcoming him to MWA.

Match 5 - Austin Aries vs Michael Elgin
Michael Elgin could get a huge break here tonight if he managed to get pass Austin Aries. Aries, who's already scheduled to face Low Ki in two days, couldn't afford a loss here against the youngster.
Elgin tried his best, but Aries speed and experience proved too tough for the Canadian. Aries focused on the neck and back of Elgin, setting up for the inevitable Horns of Aries. To Elgins credit, he didn't tap from the move, but simply lost consciousness. As Aries left the area, he stared into the camera and told Ki he was coming for his belt.

Austin Aries defeated Michael Elgin when Michael Elgin passed out in the
Horns of Aries in 0:09:25.

Match 6 - The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) vs Chuck Taylor & Fast Eddie - MWA Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
The Briscoes are, without a doubt, the favorites to win this tournament, alongside the Motor City Machine Guns, of course. Their first step on the way was the makeshift team of Chuck Taylor and Fast Eddie Vegas. Taylor has a big mouth, but does definetely not have the results to back them up. Fast Eddie thinks he's the best wrestler in the world, so they should make a good fit.

Even though Chuck and Eddie haven't tagged together before tonight, they were able, through various shortcuts, to isolate Mark and give him a thorough beating, before the youngest Briscoes managed to hit a release german on Chuck and a springboard DDT on Eddie before making the hot tag.

The last half of the match was a great, spot-filled match with a lot of exciting wrestling and counter moves. Like when Jay went for a rana on Chuck, but was powerbombed to the floor. The finish came when Taylor went for a springboard dropkick, but was himself dropkicked of the ropes by Mark, crashing Chuck to the floor. An assisted J-Driller later, and the Briscoes had moved on the semi-finals.

The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated
Chuck Taylor and Fast Eddie Vegas when J. Briscoe pinned Fast Eddie with the
J-Driller in 0:18:49.

Match 7 - Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs the Age of the Fall (Jimmy Jacobs & Marek Brave) - MWA Tag Team Title Tournament - 1st Round
Jimmy and his reluctant disciple in the Age of the Fall, Marek Brave, had a formidable task ahead of them. The MCMG, one of the crispest tag-teams in the world, really a well oiled machinery. Brave and Jacobs had some clear communications problem in the beginning, as when Jimmy decided it was a better idea to jawjack with the fans, than to pay attention to Marek who was really in need of a tag. Or when they clearly misunderstood each others attention, Jacobs irish whipping Shelly into Jacobs who was preparing for a spear.

Jacobs understood that they needed some help to win this, and conveniently pulled ref Sinclair in front of a Shelley clothesline. Jacobs then pulled out his railroad spike, readying it against Shelley. Brave stopped Jimmy, telling him to put the weapon down. As they argued, Shelley hit Jimmy with the Shell Shock and Sabin hit Brave with the Cradle Shock. Shelley revived Sinclair who counted the three count.

After the match, Jimmy and Brave started arguing. Brave told Jimmy that he didn't want to join his cult and left. Jimmy stopped him and nailed him in the back. Jimmy kicked him to the floor and sent Brave into the guardrail. Jimmy then pulled out the railroad spike again, but Sabin and Shelley ran down and chased Jacobs away. The MCMG stood in the ring to accept the crowd's cheers, when Low Ki appeared in the aisle. Low Ki told Sabin that it isn't the money which is lacking, but the courage. Ki told Sabin to put his money where his mouth is, and accept a title match between them. Sabin wanted to go after Ki, but Shelley stopped him, telling him to concentrate on tomorrow, as they would be facing the Briscoes. Sabin told Ki that he would fight him, IF the money was right.

MWA - Duo - 23.08.08
Eldorado, Il
Attendance: 870

Jimmy Jacobs promo
Jimmy Jacobs sits alone in his darkened locker room, looking at a picture of
Lacey. "Lacey.. I'm all alone down here. I've sent Tyler on to spread our
gospel, and Marek Brave has turned on us. It doesn't matter. Soon, the Age of
the Fall will increase its numbers and increase our influences among the
hardworking men of the midwest. Men and women who's not happy with the status
quo, men and women who wants more of life than the government can give them.
Soon, the Age of the Fall will control everything. And then Lacey.. then you
can come here too. Until then, I love you," Jimmy says blowing a kiss into the
camera.

Motor City Machine Guns Promo
Shelley:"Tonight, ladies and gentlemen, you will see a hell of a main event.
Tonight, the arguably best two tag-teams in the world collide over the rights
to fight for the MWA Tag Team Titles. And just like yesterday, the ref will
raise ours, the MCMG, hands when the bell rings for the second time.
Sabin:"And tomorrow, the owner will personally hand us the belt, and sign his
own bankruptcy. Everybody knows that the MCMG doesn't work for free, and
having us as the tag champs would be way too expensive. Speaking of expensive..
Low Ki.. I put forth my terms to the owner of MWA.. I even cut it by 10%.. he
still couldn't afford it. So I guess you'll just have to live with the fact
that I pinned you in the ring, and there is nothing you can do to get revenge.

Welcome to night two of MWA's tag-team title tournament. Tonight, we will find out who will face each other tomorrow for the MWA Tag Team titles. Let's go to the show!

Match 1 - Team F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma & Icarus) vs the YRR (Sal Rinauro & Chasyn Rance) w/Random Broad # 1 & #2 - Semi finals of the MWA Tag Team Tournaments

Team FIST defeated the YRR last month, but it was Kenny King, not Sal Rinauro who was Chasyn Rance's partner. Could Sal's wiliness tip the scales in their favor?

The opening minutes went back and forth with a lot of lucha action and quick tags. Rinauro was doing his hit and run tactics, which drove Team FIST to frustration. For once, the crowd didn't disapprove of Sal's antics, and even broke out in a big laugh when Sal tried to hide between the random broads that accompanied them to the ring (not the same two as last night, off course), but was distracted by their voluptous chests, which allowed Akuma to skip around the girls and clobber Sal from the back. Chasyn tried to help him, but Icarus dropkicked him over the ropes. Akuma finished off Sal with the Falcon Arrow and sent Team Fist to the finals of the tournament.

Team F.I.S.T. (Gran Akuma and Icarus) defeated
The YRR (Chasyn Rance and Salvatore Rinauro) when Akuma pinned Sal with the
Falcon Arrow in 0:10:21.
Rating: ** 1/2

Match 2 - B-Boy vs Matt Cross
Matt Cross made his debut yesterday in a impressive match against Low Ki, and tonight, Low Ki's fellow Rottweiler B-Boy was on the other side of the ring. B-Boy hasn't had the best record as of late, and the way he took things in the start, it didn't look like it would improve. He simply didn't take Cross seriously enough, which allowed Cross to drill him with a Swinging DDT for a two count. Smokes did distract Cross enough for B-Boy to make a comeback, hitting the former gymnast with an Exploder suplex. Cross knew that his continued existence in MWA depended on racking up some wins from the get go, and was able to hit his high risk Death From Above to win the match.

As Smokes helped B-Boy out of the ring, they didn't exactly look devastated, and you could clearly see B-Boy fidget with a joint.

Matt Cross pinned B-Boy with the Death From Above in 0:16:01.
Rating: *** 1/4

Match 3 - Jimmy Jacobs vs Shayne Hawke
The next match involved a little pre-match drama, as Joker, who was originally scheduled to be in the match, was in no shape to wrestle. No reasons were given at this time, but you could see the ring announcer and the ref were very disappointed. Fortunately, Superstar Shayne Hawke was backstage, and took his place on short notice.

Even though he wasn't prepared for this, Hawke took it to Jacobs and gave him a run for the money. He even hit the Tomahawke for a two-count. Hawke tried to work his way towards another one, but Jacobs blocked it and hit the Contra Code for the win.

Jimmy Jacobs pinned Shayne Hawke with the Contra Code in 0:16:55.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Joker no-showed.)

Match 4 - Chuck Taylor & Fast Eddie Vegas vs Women's Wrath (LuFisto & Mickie Knuckles
Two of the teams who lost their first round matches in the tag-team title tournament faced each other tonight. Fast Eddie and Chuck Taylor against the Women's Wrath.

Taylor tried cracking some jokes about he thinking they would fight girls, and instead they got this. Fast Eddie on the other hand, tried to be Prince Charming with LuFisto but got a few straight lefts instead. Taylor shouted something to Eddie (she's a dyke, stupid), which caused LuFisto to run over and punch Taylor in the eye. When LuFisto finally got Taylor in the ring, she grounded him and gave him a few really stiff knees to the head. Taylor scrambled away, not wanting to be on the end of that one's fury.

The finish came when Vegas superplexed Knuckles to the middle of the ring and tagged Taylor. Taylor climbed up high and hit a devastating flying double foot stomp on Knuckles. It was really sick! LuFisto didn't reach her friend in time, and the victory goes to the guys. After the match, LuFisto grabbed a chair and ran after Taylor, who decided it was best to run for his life.

Chuck Taylor and Fast Eddie Vegas defeated
Women's Wrath (LuFisto and Mickie Knuckles) when C. Taylor pinned M. Knuckles
after a flying double foot stomp in 0:13:26.
Rating: ***

Match 5 - Michael Elgin vs Billy Roc
As the cockiness of Billy Roc has escalated, so has his composure in the matches. He had no trouble controlling his larger opponent here tonight, keeping Elgin on the ground and unable to use his size to power Roc down. Still, Elgin was able to show off his considerable strength when he powered out of a mat based hold and dumped Roc with a Samoan Drop. It appeared as if Roc had greater stamina than Elgin, as the bigger man obviously tired towards the end. He still managed to kick out of the LBM Frog Splash, but that was possibly because Roc hurt his knees on impact, forcing him to slowly make the pin. Roc ran laps around Elgin after that, hitting an Asai DDT to end it.

Billy Roc pinned Michael Elgin after an Asai DDT in 0:15:24.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match 6 - Marek Brave vs Vordell Walker
Marek Brave is on his own now that he has left the Age of the Fall, and his first challenge was Vordell Walker, far from an easy one. Walker has been impressive so far in MWA, even though it could be made a case about him not beating some of the top tier talent, which would be necessary for him to break out completely.

Jimmy Jacobs came down to the ring to watch his former stablemate, congratulating him whenever he did something good, and complaining to the ref every time he only got a 2-count. Marek told him to get out of there, which allowed Walker to almost get the pin with a schoolboy. Marek could never get the distracting factor out of his head, and even though he had a short momentum when he landed some blows and hit a belly-to-belly on Vordell, Walker got the win with the Vortex, of course after a distraction from Jacobs.

After the match, Jimmy got in the ring, but Vordell got in his way and told him that he had to go through him first. Jimmy though about it, but decided that it wasn't worth it. Marek got up and challenged Jimmy to a match tomorrow night. Jimmy accepted.

Vordell Walker pinned Marek Brave with the Vortex in 0:14:57.
Rating: *** 1/4
[Jimmy Jacobs interfered against Marek Brave.]

Low Ki's music played, and the MWA Heavyweight Champion came out. Ki said that, like his opponent for tomorrow night, Austin Aries, he didn't have a match tonight. Ki wanted to prove himself a fighting champion, and handed out an open challenge to anyone in the back. The Power Pack came out, and Ki asked Aries if he wanted to lose two nights in a row. Aries told Ki that he wasn't his opponent, Gran Akuma was! We have an impromptu title match!

Match 7 - Gran Akuma w/Icarus & Austin Aries vs Low Ki (c) for the MWA Heavyweight Title
It was clear from the start that Low Ki should have waited to fire the Rottweilers. Even though they had become a lazy, stoned gang, they would have been able to offset the numbers advantage. Because there is only one direction the ref can see at a time, meaning that there would always been one of the Power Pack to distract or interfere with the match. And even though Akuma had fought before tonight, that was well over an hour ago.

As expected, when this match wasn't sabotaged by Icarus or Aries, Low Ki and Akuma had quite the thrilling match going on, a lot was based on stiff leg strikes and hard hitting moves. The match went outside when Aries pulled down the ropes, and Akuma dove on him with a tope. Aries helped Ki back in the ring, but not before giving Ki a thorough beating while ref Long was trying to hold Icarus out of the ring. Akuma hit the Yoshi Tonic and his Falcon Arrow, but Ki kicked out of them both. Aries became visibly frustrated at this, but not because he didn't win. Aries was angry with Akuma for going for the win! If it wasn't obvious until now, this was only a way to wear Low Ki for tomorrow.

The finish came when Low Ki, finally in control of the match, brought Akuma down with the Ki Krusher. Both Icarus and Aries tried to prevent Ki from going for the Warrior's Way (why he wasn't disqualified is beyond anyone), but Ki kicked them down from the apron and hit his devastating finisher. Icarus broke up the pin, and ref Long decided to do the only right thing. DQ Akuma.

Low Ki defeated Gran Akuma by disqualification in 0:16:13.

(Low Ki retained the MWA Heavyweight Title.)
[Icarus and Austin Aries interfered against Low Ki.]

The night wasn't over for Low Ki, who was being stomped and pummeled by the entire Power Pack. As Aries and Akuma took turns kicking him in the chest, Icarus brought a table into the ring and laid Ki on it. Ki got away, but got blasted in the head with a chair. Icarus put Ki's leg in the chair, and Aries wanted to do the 450 on the chair, breaking Ki's leg. The Briscoes then ran out and started brawling with the Power Pack. Ki was no help, so the Pack was still holding the ring. That was until Motor City Machine Guns hit the ring. Not so much as to help Ki, but because they wanted their main event match to start. Power Pack ran away, satisfied that the damage was done.

In an ironic twist, it was Chris Sabin who helped Low Ki back on his feet, patting him on the back in a patronizing manner. Ki snapped his head back and was about to go at it with Sabin, but was held back by - you guessed it - Jay Briscoe. Ki slid out of the ring and limped away, completely aware that he had enemies and challengers all over, and now, no friends.

Match 8 - The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) vs Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) in the Semi Finals of the MWA Tag Team Title tournament
These two teams had a lot to live up to, and they all went out and did their very best to win, and to give the fans something to talk about. This was in many ways a contest to see which team had the best teamwork, and it produced a wide variety of high speed moves, quick tags and innovative double maneuvers.

The MCMG was able to isolate Mark, drilling him with moves quicker than he could feel pain from them. He desperately tried to make the important tag, but they always dragged him back from Jay. Shelley knocked him loopey with the SHell Shock, and Sabin hit the Cradle Shock, but Jay broke it up. The match went into chaos, but somewhere in the middle of it, Mark got the legal tag. As Mark gave Sabin the Kung Fu treatment, Jay worked over Shelley before levelling him with a brutal yakuza kick. Jay hit Shelley with the J-Driller, and Mark held Sabin back as the Briscoes advanced to the finals. What a match!

We welcome you back tomorrow night when MWA makes its debut in South Bend, Indiana. Not only will Team F.I.S.T. and the Briscoes go at it for the MWA Tag-Team Titles, Austin Aries will face Low Ki for the title for the third time, this time in a cage match!
