NAWA Reality Check 2005 Preview

The injury of NAWA World Champion Harry Harris sent shockwaves to the NAWA World Title scene, but this will not stop the megastars of the New Age Wrestling Alliance from returning with a vengeance on Pay Per View.

Finals of the Tournament To Declare A Brand New NAWA World Champion
Miles Stylish vs. Ron Waterman

The history between these two men go way back. Stylish started out as a member of Disco Inferno's Boogie Woogie Regime and one of his fellow members was Ron Waterman, Disco's bodyguard. Stylish's ego began to wear on Waterman and with the dissolving of the Disco Inferno regime, Stylish attempted to make a name for himself by attacking Waterman, who already detest Stylish already. In their first meeting at Truth or Consequences 2003, Ron Waterman defeated Miles Stylish. In fact, in every subsequent meeting, Waterman has beaten Stylish over and over. Now, the latest chapter of their feud happens on Sunday. When the NAWA World Champion Harry Harris went down, it was obvious that some sort of match was needed to fill the void. Ron Waterman was an obvious pick for one half of the title match, having already earned the shot by winning the Luck of the Draw Match, so he got a bye to the finals of the tournament. Miles Stylish beat Bryan Danielson, Raven, and Jerry Lynn to advance forward through the tournament and this Sunday, these two men will meet with the finals to declare a new undisputed NAWA World Champion. Stylish vows that this time, he will beat Waterman, but that's something that's obviously easier said that done, as in two and a half years, Waterman only has two losses under his belt. Can Stylish add a third and become the NAWA World Champion or will Ron Waterman reign supreme over the landscape of the New Age Wrestling Alliance for a second time? Only one way to find and and that's tune into NAWA Reality Check only on Pay Per View.

Prediction:

Stairway To Hell Match
CM Punk and Christopher Daniels(w/Desdomia) vs. Raven and Teddy Hart

The alliance of Teddy Hart and Raven began oddly, needless to say, as Hart pinned Raven in a one on one match on Glory and the next week, began dressing like him. This went on with several weeks but the first hints of an alliance began when both men worked together in the Luck of the Draw Match and officially formed a tag team when Hart saved Raven from the Archangels of Anarchy, even becoming NAWA World Tag Team Champions for a month. The alliance between Daniels and Punk is easier to understand, it was born out of a mutally hatred to Raven. Daniels obviously still is bitter for failing to beat Raven in the Walk Through Hell Match back at WrestleClash III and Punk was eliminated by Raven in the Luck of the Draw Match. Now, these two teams will meet in a Starway to Hell Match, made by NAWA Commissioner New Jack, because of the attacks involved between all four men in recent weeks involving singapore canes. The rules are as follows, two singapore canes will be hung above the ring, that can be retrieved using a ladder. The match cannot end until both of the canes have been retrieved and only then by pinfall or submission. This will get bloody, as both these teams attempt to settle the score on Pay Per View.

Prediction:

NAWA International Championship Match:
Tony Mamaluke vs. Jerry Lynn(c)

Lynn and Mamaluke have their history, competing in a best of seven series in 2003, with Lynn winning the deciding sixty minute Iron Man Match. Other than a few tag team matches when Lynn was part of the Triumvirate and Mamaluke was feuding with them, the feud mostly was laid to rest, until now. Mamaluke won a fatal four way match to become the number one contender to the NAWA International Title and Lynn won that championship at the same Pay Per View. The roles are reversed, as while during the Best of Seven Series, Mamaluke was loved and Lynn was hated, now Lynn is the hero and Mamaluke is the villian. Also, Mamaluke's hinted that his brand new agent, who has gotten him a seven figure contract, will be at Reality Check on Sunday, no doubt giving Lynn an extra reason to look over his shoulder. Still, don't count of Jerry Lynn, as he is perhaps pound for pound the best pure wrestler in the NAWA and if Mamaluke doesn't watch it, Lynn can and will school him.

Prediction:

NAWA Cruiserweight Championship Best Two Out of Three Falls Match
AJ Styles vs. Bryan Danielson
:

Danielson entered the NAWA at the beginning of 2005 and quickly set his sights on the NAWA Cruiserweight Title held by AJ Styles, battling him to a sixty minute time limit draw at Luck of the Draw. At Blinded by Fury, Danielson captured the belt, but not without controversy, as Styles knocked himself unconcious when he struck headfirst into the guardrail. So, to ammend for that and so there are no excuses, a third bout has been made for Reality Check. This time, the victory will have to beat their opponent not once but twice, to be proven the better man. We will have a decisive victor with no controversy as the NAWA Cruiserweight Championship will be on the line in a Best Two Out of Three Falls Match.

Prediction For First Fall:
Prediction For Second Fall:
(If Needed)Prediction For Third Fall:

The Rottweilers(w/Julius Smokes) will square off against Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley and then later that night, the winners will face off against the Archangels of Anarchy(w/Desdomia) for the NAWA World Tag Team Titles

You've got to hand it to the Archangels, they really had a plan to get those NAWA World Tag Team Titles back on the last Glory. First, they manipulated the things so the referee saw Homicide using the blackjack on Matt Bentley, causing the Rottweilers to be eliminated by disqualification. Then, with Bentley down, they took care of Bentley and Sabin, allowing Armageddon and Destruction to become the NAWA World Tag Team Champions for the second time. Needless to say, neither team that got screwed were too pleased with the events of Glory, so NAWA Commissioner New Jack has made Sabin and Bentley against the Rottweilers, with the winners of that match getting an NAWA World Tag Team Title Shot later that time. The tag team division is getting hot and heavy. Reality Check should be an interesting night on that front.

Prediction:

NAWA Television Title Match
Shawn Stasiak vs. Sedrick Skyhawk(w/Candace Sweet, Bruno, Mr. Fernando, and Richard Ramos Ricardo, Attorney At Law)(c)

Skyhawk had offered up anyone who could beat him in a non title match, a chance to become NAWA World Television Champion and Shawn Stasiak did so, much to the irritation to the self-proclaimed face of entertainment. Knowing that Stasiak might have his number, Skyhawk enlisted the services of the sleazy weasel of a lawyer known as Richard Ramos Ricardo, Attorney At Law. With the muscle of his bodyguard Bruno and the keen legal mind of Ricardo, that could spell disaster for the NAWA Television Championship aspirations of Shawn Stasiak.

Prediction:

Scott Steiner(w/Desdomia) vs. Rapmaster Killings
This match was set up when Killings saved Chuck Palumbo for a beatdown at the hands of Scott Steiner, something that Scott Steiner did not take well at all. As a result, The Rapmaster and Big Poppa Pump will collide one on one at NAWA Reality Check.

Prediction:

Samoa Joe vs. Norman Smiley

Samoa Joe has been on a tear ever since making his NAWA debut last month but at Reality Check he faces off against a man who has been with the NAWA since day one. Norman Smiley, a man who has been the NAWA International Champion and one half of the NAWA World Tag Team Champions in the past, will try his luck against the Samoan Submission Machine. Norman's fought tremendous odds before but has he fought anything like Samoa Joe?

Prediction

Simon Diamond and a Mystery Partner vs. Elix Skipper and Petey Williams

Ever since his former partner, Johnny Swinger, as left to go up to North to inspect the lights on the weekends, Simon Diamond has been looking for a tag team partner. Despite many attempts, Simon has found no one, losing again and again, mostly to the likes of Elix Skipper and Petey Williams. Simon swears this time he's found the perfect partner and he'll make Elix Skipper and Petey Williams pay for their mocking of him from the last Glory. We'll find out whether or not Simon's struck gold this time.

Prediction:

Austin Aries vs. Spanky
This match was added at the last minute. Two competitors of the exciting NAWA Cruiserweight division, as no doubt NAWA Commissioner New Jack will be watching this match closely to determine a future contender for the NAWA Cruiserweight Title.

Finals of the Tournament To Declare A Brand New NAWA World Champion
Miles Stylish vs. Ron Waterman

I called it a couple of shows ago, and I'm calling it now. I've got a suspicion the rebooking you'll do after the Harris injury will have Waterman continuing the chase.

Stairway To Hell Match
CM Punk and Christopher Daniels(w/Desdomia) vs. Raven and Teddy Hart

First of all... TITLE CHANGE! Conventional wisdom suggests the faces get the big revenge, but I'm reckoning you'll keep Punk strong for a while yet until he leaves.

NAWA International Championship Match:
Tony Mamaluke vs. Jerry Lynn(c)

Lynns pinning Mamaluke at the end of the last show either means he's winning this one or losing this one, if that makes any sense. And since I've got several heels winning tonight, I'll go with Lynn.

NAWA Cruiserweight Championship Best Two Out of Three Falls Match
AJ Styles vs. Bryan Danielson

Danielson wins falls 1 and 3, for the record. After two non-decisive endings, we'll have Danielson get this one clean.

The Rottweilers(w/Julius Smokes) will square off against Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley and then later that night, the winners will face off against the Archangels of Anarchy(w/Desdomia) for the NAWA World Tag Team Titles

Does the way I've bolded that make sense? The Archangels have barely held the belts, so I can't see them losing them right away. I actually had the Rotweillers pegged to win the first match, but after such a quick final fall on Glory, I'm reckoning the two teams will have a much longer encounter this time out.

NAWA Television Title Match
Shawn Stasiak vs. Sedrick Skyhawk(w/Candace Sweet, Bruno, Mr. Fernando, and Richard Ramos Ricardo, Attorney At Law)(c)

With an entourage like that, how could the guy possible lose? Skyhawk has been on quite a role (despite a couple of losses in the last few weeks) and I don't see Stasiak being the guy to derail him proper.

Scott Steiner(w/Desdomia) vs. Rapmaster Killings

The ultra brief paragraph to describe this feud sums it up. Steiner wins and moves on to bigger things. After all, he just lost a title shot that he'd otherwise been guarenteed before Harris got hurt.

Samoa Joe vs. Norman Smiley

Joe's been booked like a monster so far (natch), once again I can't see Smiley being the guy to derail him.

Simon Diamond and a Mystery Partner vs. Elix Skipper and Petey Williams

I'm tempted to say that because it's the PPV, he'll finally have snared a worthy partner, but my picks have gotten REALLY heel heavy. Besides, this angle easily has a little stamina in it yet.

Austin Aries vs. Spanky

Why not? Despite the Joe squash, Aries got a big win recently over A.J. so he's got a bit of momentum at least.
