NAWA Glory Xtra 3/15/05

Footage from last week at the end of Glory featuring Harry Harris suffering a horrific neck injury in his title defense against CM Punk. After Glory, the feeling came back to the arms and legs of Harry Harris, but he will be on the shelf for at least a year. This Weekend he goes in for neck fusion surgery and in a few moments, NAWA Owner Matt Harms will make an announcement on the status of the NAWA World Championship.

The entire NAWA roster is at ringside, the faces standing on one side of the ring and the heels standing on the other side of the ring, surrounded by security, as the NAWA Owner Matt Harms makes his way out, the NAWA World Championship Belt draped over his shoulder as he walks down to the ring. Harms welcomes us to this special three hour edition of NAWA Glory and says that the entire card has been shuffled around because of the events of last week, as well as the Reality Check Pay Per Views this Sunday. It goes without saying but Harry Harris has been stripped of the NAWA World Title, due to the fact that he will be unable to wrestle for at least a year and in fact may never wrestle again, depending on how well he heals. Tonight, Harms is out before the world, to announces that he's been in meetings all week and has found a solution. The start of a nine man single elimination tournament will begin tonight, with the finals taking place at Reality Check.

Harms explains that it will be nine men, because Ron Waterman, who is already guarateed a title shot, will receive a bye all the way to the finals. That leaves eight men, who will compete in the first three rounds tonight on this special three hour edition of Glory. The first five men will be the champions of the New Age Wrestling Alliance. The NAWA International Champion Jerry Lynn, the NAWA World Tag Team Champions Raven and Teddy Hart, the NAWA Television Champion Sedrick Skyhawk, and the NAWA Cruiserweight Champion Bryan Danielson.

The sixth man is a man who was announced to receive an NAWA World Championship match tonight on Glory, Scott Steiner. Now, to determine the last two men, Harms watched hours of tapes, from both television and Pay Per Views over the last six months, before making his final decision just hours before this show went on the air. The seventh man is CM Punk, who despite putting the champion out of action, has put together an impressive winning streak, around that deadly Anaconda Vice submission hold.

The eighth man is a man that Harms personally can't stand, a man who has claimed himself to be the uncrowned NAWA World Champion, and a man coming off of a thirty day suspension tonight for beating up the NAWA owner. Still, Harms can't deny the man's accomplishments, a one year reign as NAWA International Champion and an impressive win loss record against the best the NAWA has to offer. Therefore Miles Stylish will be the eighth man in tonight. Tonight, the first three rounds of the tournament, with whomever scores three victories will square off against Ron Waterman for the NAWA World Championship this Sunday at Reality Check. Now, the brackets, determined by random lottery in the back are as follows.

[Raven]
[Steiner]

[Danielson]
[Stylish]

[Punk]
[Hart]

[Lynn]
[Skyhawk]

Harms thanks everyone for their time and tonight, the tournament to declare a brand new NAWA World Champion kicks off, right after these messages.

That Cradle Piledriver may be one of the most deadly finishers in the NAWA, as it's claimed another victory for Lynn in this tournament. It only took one to put down Miles Stylish at Blinded by Fury, which interesting enough Stylish is the man who is Lynn's opponent in the semifinal match in the NAWA World Tournament. If Lynn gets that Cradle Piledriver on Stylish once again, he could be one step closer to the NAWA World Championship but then the question would be, can he get the Cradle Piledriver on Ron Waterman should he make it to the finals? No matter what happens, Jerry Lynn and Miles Stylish meet in the return match from Blinded by Fury in the Semifinal Match, the winner facing off against Ron Waterman in the Finals to determine a new NAWA World Champion. Right now we need to step out for a commercial and up next, a non-tournament bout, before we head to the next round in tonight's feature bout.

The crowd is enraged, thanks to Tony Mamaluke, Miles Stylish has advanced to the finals to face Ron Waterman for the NAWA World Title March 20th at Reality Check. Stylish is still out from the Cradle Piledriver as Mamaluke gives a smug smile on the ramp, having screwed Jerry Lynn out of a chance to become NAWA World Champion. At Reality Check, Mamaluke might get his, as he will challenge Jerry Lynn for the NAWA International Championship but right now we are out of time. See you in two days for the regular Thursday edition of Glory!

I've got a real feeling that Mike Stylish is going to win this whole thing y'know. I didn't think Waterman was going to beat Harry Harris and I don't think he'll win against Stylish now either.

By the way, that three hour deal came at a good time. The entire show was able to revolve around the tournament (that for some reason I thought Punk was winning).

Also, just reading over some of the earlier cards, particularly relating to Homicide... what's a blackjack?

To answer your question in the other post, the Harry Harris injury was absolutely legit. When it happened, I stared in the screen at numb shock for about a minute, as I watched many long term programs go down the dream (Waterman, the blowoff with Stylish, and the beginnings of the feud with CM Punk as I was beginning to set up over the last couple of weeks, which would have been Punk's last feud before he left for WWE.). Still, many plans are out of the window and at least one person is going to get screwed out of an NAWA World Title reign for the time being, because of the rebooked storylline. Still, this isn't the first time I've had to rebook my entire main event scene, as the first time Harris got injured back in 2003, the Triumivrate was supposed to be Harris/Stylish/Lynn instead of Warrior/Stylish/Lynn (Warrior was going to join the Archangels of Anarchy in the spot that eventually when to Jeff Jarrett as the Chosen One). Also Waterman/Harris was supposed to be the main event of WrestleClash III, where Waterman would win the NAWA World Title from a heel Harry Harris, but obviously that didn't happen. So for the second time Waterman/Harris has been derailed because of an injury, maybe third time will be the charm next year :).

One day, I will post the original storyline plans for the Triumvirate, most likely when the NAWA's all said and done, because I thought it would make some pretty good television.

BTW, it's Miles Stylish  ;)

Punk winning, that was an interesting prediction. He very nearly got to the finals, when I nearly went with my plan that I always go to when someone gets injured and that's push Raven, so it could have been Punk and Raven in the finals, but I decided to go with Stylish, because he does have the history against Waterman. Sadly, due to my rules, Punk's time with the NAWA is drawing to a close. He most likely would have gotten an NAWA World Title reign or at least a rather extended run in the NAWA International Title, if he didn't sign with WWE.

A blackjack is the weapon that Stevie Ray used in when he was in the NWO B-Team. WCW called in a slapjack because they're WCW, the same company that called a foreign object "an international object".

If anything, that makes it the big dream match in the NAWA.

Also... whoops re Stylish. I do that sometimes.

In regards to the rules about CM Punk, I'm guessing you only hire wrestlers not associated with big companies, ja? As of March 05, Punk's time would have been drawing to a close on that basis if I'm right, yes.

Yeah, basically, if they're signed for WWE, they're off limits. So, for Punk, I'm using the weekend of his last ROH match as a regular as the limit to when he has to leave(August 13th-14th, oddly enough the same weekend that WrestleClash IV will happen).

Happy little coincidence, and one easy point for predictions.
