AWA

OK, Ok, so all the great circuits around here have inspired me to take a circuit thought I had and lay it out there for all of you. I am bringing back the AWA.

I went to TNM UK (thanks King!) and grabbed a few exports from ROH and Combat Zone, and set up the circuit.

We will be featuring one card a week. This is really all I can commit to at this time. If I can, I will either up the cards, or start holding special cards, but right now, I can only do one.

I run mostly unbooked circuits. All title matches are unbooked, with very rare exceptions. This is just how I prefer to run, as I have always done so in the past.

The starting roster is set, but I will be using the mystery wrestler feature at times to bring in new talent.

So with that, I give you the new AWA. No promises on quality, this is the first time I have ever done a circuit and posted it, so any and all comments will be welcomed, listened to, and considered. Thanks and enjoy!

This Saturday, the stars of the newly reborn AWA will compete in a tournament crowning the new AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion. The Southern Heavyweight Title has been held by some of the true legends of this industry, and this Saturday, 16 of the best and brightest young stars and veterans will compete to attain the belt.

Participants include Brent Albright, "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, former WWE & WCW Superstar Billy Kidman, former ECW Superstar C.W. Anderson and more.

so, our phones died on Saturday while I was running the first AWA card. They are up and running again. So here is the card. I hope you enjoy. I decided to run a couple of house shows each week, as they are quick to run since I don't have to do much storyline-wise.

AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship Tournament
Broadcast Live from Memphis, Tennessee

AWA announcer BJ Jeffries welcomes everyone to the show tonight, promoting the rebirth of the AWA and the rebirth of the historic AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship. Jeffries announces that before the show went on the air, the first round of the tournament took place, and then gives the results.

Round One
-- Aaron "The Idol" Stevens pinned "The King of Diamonds" Eddie Kingston after a vertical facebuster in 0:07:36.
-- "Sweet N Sour" Larry Sweeney pinned "Dangerboy" Derek Wylde after a double underhook suplex in 0:11:17.
-- "Double C" Claudio Castagnoli pinned "The Shooter" Brent Albright with the Ricola Bomb in 0:09:41.
-- Danny Havoc pinned C.W. Anderson with the General Order 24 in 0:10:01.
-- "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce pinned Chris Hero after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:15:16.
-- Matt Sydal pinned Amazing Red with the Cyclorama in 0:12:59.
-- "Mr. 630" Jerelle Clark pinned JC Ryder with the 630 Senton in 0:21:08.
-- Billy Kidman pinned "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson with the Shooting Star Press in 0:16:06.

Right after, the second round begins.

-- Aaron "The Idon" Stevens pinned Larry Sweeney with the Idolizer in 0:05:35.
Post Match Notes: Stevens cruises for his second win of the night, leaving Jeffries to speculate that he may be the favorite to win.

-- Danny Havoc defeated "Double C" Claudio Castagnoli via pinfall in 0:03:13.
Post Match Notes: Danny Havoc surprised "Double C" quickly in this mach. Jeffries tries to get a few words with Havoc, but Havoc blows him off, saying he just doesn't have time to waste with Jeffries.

-- Matt Sydal pinned "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce after a backbreaker in 0:10:27.
Post Match Notes: Possibly the match of the tournament so far, Sydal overcomes Pearce. Pearce is understandibly upset at this loss, and shows it by kicking the ring ropes and arguing with fans and the referee all the way to the back.

-- Billy Kidman pinned Jerelle Clark after a flying sunset flip in 0:01:05.
Post Match Notes: Jerelle Clark injured his right knee. He will be out for approximately 2 months. It was determined that Clark actually injured his knee in the first round when he hit the 630 Senton on JC Ryder and didn't really have any mobility in this match. Kidman showed some great sportsmanship when he helped Clark to the back.

Jeffries moves the show along to the Semi-Finals. A quick rundown of the remaining competitors, leaves Jeffries to predict that Aaron Stevens will face Billy Kidman in the finals. Word reaches Jeffries that Adam Pearce has demanded a rematch against Matt Sydal next Saturday in Charlotte, and that match has been granted.

-- Danny Havoc pinned Aaron "The Idol" Stevens with the General Order 24 in 0:07:23.
Post Match Notes: Havoc with another upset tonight, earning a spot in the finals of the tournament. Havoc once again blew off Jeffries for a post match interview, insisting that once he is AWA Southern Champion, he will make time for the unimportant.

-- Matt Sydal pinned Billy Kidman with the Cyclorama in 0:10:45.
Post Match Notes: A strong offering from both Sydal and Kidman. Kidman once again showed veteren poise when he shoke hands with Sydal. Sydal will now face Danny Havoc in the finals of the tournament.

Jeffries was able to get a few words from Matt Sydal in between matches. Sydal said that his match against Billy Kidman in the semi's was brutal, but he feels that he still has enough left in the tank to finish the night and capture the Southern Title. Sydal also answers the challenge by Adam Pearce, saying that his defeating Pearce was not a fluke, and he will be happy to prove it to him next week in Charlotte.

AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship Match
-- Matt Sydal pinned Danny Havoc after a vertical facebuster in 0:10:14 to win the AWA Southern Heavyweight Title.
Post Match Notes: Matt Sydal is the new AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion, much to the delight of the fans in attendance. Danny Havoc was most upset and once again blew off Jeffries for a post match interview. Sydal, with his new title, promised that his reign will be long and hard fought. "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce came out and demanded that their match next week be for the belt. Sydal quickly agreed and the main event for next week in Charlotte is set.

Next up for the AWA: 2 Nights in Nashville as the AWA sets up in Nashville for house shows on Tuesday and Wednesday. (*cards will be results only.) And next week, from Charlotte, North Carolina, the new Southern Champion Matt Sydal will defend against "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce.

so, I have to shut this down. I just don't have the time or energy to run a third circuit. And frankly, when it comes to my TNM right now, my WWE and TNA circuits take priority. Fun while it lasted, if not short.
