MWWA AWAKENING PPV
January 17, 2009
Mellon Arena
Pittsburgh, PA

The MWWA's first-ever pay-per-view begins with a replay of the confrontation between Justin Credible and Heavyweight Champion, Batista, from the latest edition of Carnage...

 Batista: "Let me tell ya... it's great to be in Houston, tonight! (crowd cheers) I have to say, it's an honor to stand before you as the Mid-West Wrestling Association Heavyweight Champion! (crowd cheers) Now, I know that I wasn't here last week due to the severity of a match I had with the man who will challenge me for this title, next Saturday night at Awakening - Justin Credible..."

Batista is interrupted as Justin Credible makes his way to the ring, followed by Jason, Nicole Bass, and Jazz. Credible gets into Batista's face and smiles.

Credible: "So... champ, you didn't show up in Detroit because of the severity of our match two weeks ago? I guess I should come out here and congradulate you for having the balls to be honest with these people. You want every one of these people in Houston to cheer for you and like what you do inside this ring. But, how in the hell can they, when you don't show up because you got your ass beat in an Iron Man match? (crowd boos as Batista glares at Credible) You were out of the show last week and you won the match, right? Well, you're looking at the man who went an hour with the MWWA Heavyweight Champion, lost, and STILL made it to Detroit to be on the first edition of Carnage! Tell me, Champ... what the hell do you think these idiots in Houston think about it, now that they know?"

Batista brings the microphone up to his face to respond. But, before he can say anything, Jason and Nicole Bass chop-block his legs, sending the champion to the ground. Justin Credible attacks Batista as Jason and Bass hold his legs from getting loose...

Rick: "We need some help out here, now!"

Walt: "No, we don'! This is awesome!"

MWWA officials rush down to the ring as Credible drops to the mat and rolls underneathe the bottom rope. He smiles as Jason and Bass do the same thing. Furious, Batista gets to his feet and charges towards the ropes, only to get stopped by the officials. The Champion screams at the group as they make their way up the ramp.

... when the clip is over, the camera goes inside the arena where Rick Harris and Walt Richardson begin the show...

R. Harris: "What a night it should be here in Pittsburgh as Awakening invades the Steel City! I'm Rick Harris alongside Walt Richardson. We have eight great matches tonight, including the MWWA Heavyweight Championship Match between "The Animal" Batista and Justin Credible. And, as we just saw as we came on the air - in just two weeks times we've seen this situation blow up quicker then expected."
W. Richardson: "That's right, Rick. Tonight, Justin Credible can finally step into the ring with the man who has what he claims is still his: the MWWA Heavyweight Title. But, Batista has been on a very impressive winning streak as of late. I think the question on everyone's mind tonigh is whether or not Justin Credible has what it takes to over-come the power of the champion and win the Heavyweight Title."
R. Harris: "Also tonight, Rex Butler will get his chance at the Television Title and Jay Briscoe, who doesn't seem to be that depressed about his brother's departure from the company two weeks ago. Tonight will be a test for both men... with the winner either keeping or taking the TV Title."

[Cut to the back where Yoshihito Takayama & Yuji Nagata are seen in their locker room; the MWWA Tag Team titles hanging over their shoulders.]

Y. Takayama: (Speaking Japanese) {Subtitle: Yuji, I have sad news to tell you, my friend. Tonight, I will stand beside you and defend these beautiful titles against our opponents. However, when the match is completed, and we raise our hands in victory, I must leave.}
Y. Nagata: (Speaking Japanese) {Subtitle: Why? I don't understand. Is everything OK?"}
Y. Takayama: {Subtitle: "There are issues... personal things... that I need to take care of back home. It saddens me, that I must walk away after our match tonight. But, I tell you now: there is a possibility I may be back.}
Y. Nagata: {Subtitle: "When?"}
Y. Takayama: {Subtitle: "I'm unsure... but, in due time, I will return. For now, let's concentrate on going out on a high note.}

[...Takayama pats Nagata on the back and give hims a half-hug as we go back to the ring...]

Rating: *

[... Knight slides out of the ring, holding his throat as Skipper is restrained by the referee. The camera then goes backstage where we see Television Champion Jay Briscoe entering the arena with the TV Title over his shoulder...]

R. Harris: "Walt, you have to wonder what's going through Jay Briscoe's mind right now, as he gets ready to defend his Television Title against Rex Butler later on tonight?"
W. Richardson: "He's probably hoping that he won't let his brother done tonight; trying to find any way that he can keep his TV Title."
R. Harris: "Now, we know that Trent Acid - the former champion - is out with a knee injury. Could he be thinking about what Acid has in store for him once he returns?"
W. Richardson: "I honestly don't think so, no. Jay Briscoe was the one that injured Trent Acid and took his title - yes. However, Rex Butler has just as much chance of walking out with the TV Title tonight. So, it's really all up to Trent when he returns."
R. Harris: "Well, that match will be taking place later tonight. Let's head to the ring for tonight's first Title match."

R. Harris: "And, at the rate it's going, it's only going to get better."

Halloween pinned Z-Barr with the Halloween Driver in 12:22.
Rating: ** 3/4

[... Halloween is announced the winner as the referee tosses the steel chair out of the ring and tends to Z-Barr. As Halloween leaves the ring, a preview for next month's pay-per-view: "Payback" is shown...]

W. Richardson: "That's right folks! Next month, the MWWA will invade Boston, Massachusetts as PAYBACK comes to you live from the TD Banknorth Garden on February 21st."

W. Richardson: "Those question will be answered shortly..."

Rating: ****
[Stevie Knight interfered against Mistico.]

[... after the match, Mistico and Stevie Knight share glances as Knight makes his way up the ramp...]

YOUR new MWWA Heavyweight Champion ... JUSTIN CREDIBLE!

Nice card. I'm not familiar with many of the wrestlers on your cards but an enjoyable read nonetheless. Keep up the good work.
wicked_rexPosted on 02/01/08 at 03:21:24

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. I'm beginning to think that I should just write up results... sorta like Oliver's WWF fed from way back. But, on the other hand, I don't think that'll help create storylines the way writing it out would. It's a decision I have to consider lol
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 02/01/08 at 04:17:25

Oliver progressed more towards writing comments at the end of the card rather than not writing anything at all. Mostly to the point writeups. He was able to put storylines together effectively.

However, use a writeup you're comfortable with rather than what you think people want to see in a card.
JeepGuyPosted on 02/01/08 at 05:35:36

I second that ... use what you feel comfortable with based on whatever time you have to devote to it. Know that it is being read and enjoyed.

Good stuff!
wicked_rexPosted on 02/01/08 at 06:29:09

Yeah, that's what I was going to do when I started with 2009... that I would write out shows. But, I don't have much time to devote to the actual detailed writings. This will also, most likely put an end to the House Show results as well... but we shall see.

Thanks for the input guys.

Not a problem.

Your big shows are an enjoyable read whereas the house shows really don't add to or take away from the main show other than to perhaps throw you a curveball with injuries.

Like I said, do what you can with the time you have available
