Date: January 10, 1987
Location: Atlanta, GA

Highlights from NWA World Wide Wrestling where Tim Horner confronts Tully Blanchard and accepts the open challenge for the NWA World Television Title:

Tully Blanchard: What are you doing out here? I think the broom and mop are in the back.

Tim Horner: Listen up, champ. I'm not out here to clean, I'm out here to take out the trash and that's you, Tully Blanchard!

James J. Dillon: How dare you! Who do you think you are?!

Tim Horner: I'll tell you who I am. I'm Tim Horner and I've been wrestling for this great promotion for a few years now. It's been up and down but now it's time for me to take it to the next level. You say there's an open challenge for the NWA World Television Title? You can consider it closed because I'm taking the brass ring and that title!

Tully Blanchard: Tony Schiavone, is this some kind of joke? How dare this nobody come out here during my interview time and disrespect me like this. I only defend my title against the very best, not losers like thi...

[Tully Blanchard is interupted as Tim Horner knocks Tully Blanchard down with a punch. Tim Horner stands over Tully Blanchard as the rest of The Four Horsemen come rushing out to the stage. Wisely, Tim Horner quickly leaves the set before Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, and Lex Luger can get to him.]

[NWA World Championship Wrestling intro is played.]

"World Championship Wrestling! Bringing you great wrestling action, sanctioned by the NWA - National Wrestling Alliance."

Jim Ross: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another edition of World Championship Wrestling. I'm Jim Ross and joining me is Tony Schiavone. Tony, if that introduction was any indicator, we're going to have an exciting show for our fans tonight.

Tony Schiavone: Indeed we will, Jim Ross. Tonight, the NWA United States Heavyweight Champion Nikita Koloff will be in action, The Road Warriors will be here, and "The Total Package" Lex Luger is here also. We're going to start off tonight's edition of World Championship Wrestling with a title match.

Jim Ross: That's right, Tony. The NWA World Television Champion Tully Blanchard will defend his title against Tim Horner, who challenged him on World Wide Wrestling and surprised the champion with a fist to the face. Let's not forget the warning Barry Windham issued to Tully Blanchard and The Four Horsemen to stay out of this match. Ric Flair issused a response warning to Barry Windham to stay out of Horsemen business.

[James J. Dillon interfered against Tim Horner.]

Jim Ross: Tim Horner took Tully Blanchard to the limit here tonight. He came close to winning the title but the time limit had expired at the 20 minute mark. It looks like Tully Blanchard is extending his hand in sportsmanship to Tim Horner. I'd be wary of that folks.

Tony Schiavone: Looks like Tim Horner is thinking about it.

Tony Schiavone: Tim Horner does accept the handshake and it looks like Tully Blanchard, despite his ego, can admit he faced an opponent of equal competition here tonight.

Jim Ross: Tully Blanchard just hit Tim Horner with a short arm lariat! Damn it, Tony! That was uncalled for! Now look at him, he's putting the boots to Tim Horner on the mat. Tully has Tim Horner set up for the Slingshot Suplex and he hits it!

Tony Schiavone: Here comes Barry Windham! He's hit the ring!

Jim Ross: Barry Windham is hitting lefts and rights to Tully Blanchard! Barry bounces off the ropes and he clothesline Tully Blanchard out of the ring!

Tony Schiavone: There's trouble brewing, Jim. The Four Horsemen are on the scene.

Jim Ross: Luger and Double A are just itching to get into that ring but are being held back by Ric Flair. This is a surprise. Ric Flair is saying something to Barry Windham but I can't quite make it out. Looks like The Four Horsemen
are making their way over here. Ric, what was that all about?

Ric Flair: What that was all about was Barry Windham defied my warning to stay out of Four Horsemen business. However, you'll notice that I held back The Four Horsemen from ending Barry Windham's career. Barry, I'm looking straight at you right now, pal. You better consider yourself lucky that you're Blackjack's son because otherwise we would've left you in that ring with a broken arm. I'm giving you one more chance and that's it. Jim Ross, if he gets in our business one more time, all bets are off.

Jim Ross: Ric Flair with a final warning to Barry Windham. Fans, we'll be right back.

Jim Ross (calling the replay): Here you see Nikita Koloff charging in with a move that has won him many matches and titles in his career so far. The Russian Sickle is a dangerous move that all opponents should try to avoid. Your winner, "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff. Tony is standing by with the United States Heavyweight Champion.

Tony Schiavone: Nikita, yet another win on World Championship Wrestling.

Nikita Koloff: Yes, I win another match but the one win I want most is victory over cheater Ric Flair. I want your NWA World Heavyweight Championship, Ric Flair! It will be mine sooner or later. Until then, I defend United States Heavyweight Title. Ain't nobody can stop me, Jim Ross.

[Ivan Koloff walks up to the set.]

Ivan Koloff: Ain't nobody can stop you? Nephew Nikita, you turned your back on Mother Country and most importantly on me by accepting greedy American capitalism. Even worse, you become friends with "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes? You say nobody can stop you? I say otherwise.

[Nikita Koloff is hit from behind by someone wielding a chain.]

Jim Ross: That must be the man Ivan Koloff was referring to a few weeks ago that would bring honor back to the Koloff name!

Tony Schiavone: They're bringing Nikita into the ring. Ivan holds Nikita up. The other Koloff hits a Russian Sickle!

Jim Ross: What honor is this bringing to the Koloffs? Wait, what is Ivan doing now? He has the chain. The other Koloff is holding Nikita. Ivan, don't do this!

[Ivan Koloff wraps the chain around his fist and hits Nikita in the face. Nikita hits the mat.]

Tony Schiavone: He's starting to bleed from the forehead, Jim. Dusty Rhodes is here!

[Ivan Koloff and the other Koloff leave the ring before Dusty Rhodes can get to them and join Tony and Jim at the podium.]

Jim Ross: What was the meaning of that, Ivan? That's your nephew!

Ivan Koloff: Don't you dare lecture me on that, Jim Ross. I understand he is nephew. But he turned his back on his uncle and his family by embracing America. My other nephew, Nikita's brother, Vladimir, is going to restore honor, dignity and respect to the Koloff name. He is bigger, stronger, and more powerful than even the mighty Nikita. So I tell you this, Jim Ross. Nikita might want Ric Flair's World Heavyweight Title. But nephew Vladimir wants your
United States Heavyweight Title!

Jim Ross: We'll be back after this commercial break.

Tony Schiavone: I'm here with Lex Luger and his manager, James J. Dillon, both members of The Four Horsemen. You've recently been involved in some matches with Wahoo McDaniel.

Lex Luger: The feel good, comeback story of the great Wahoo McDaniel. While this might be a good story to some, every story has an end to it, Tony Schiavone. I've beaten Wahoo McDaniel everywhere we've wrestled recently. He's felt the Torture Rack on numerous occassions. What Wahoo McDaniel needs to realize is that his time is over. He needs to realize that what he is up against is The Total Package. Just look at me, Tony Schiavone. I'm not called The Total Package because it sells t-shirts. I have it all. I am the athlete of the 21st century.

[Lex Luger flexes his muscles.]

James J. Dillon: Lex Luger was the perfect replacement for Ole Anderson, Tony Schiavone. The Four Horsemen are stronger than ever. Tonight in Philadelphia, Wahoo has challenged Lex Luger to an Indian Strap Match. That's Wahoo's specialty match but it doesn't matter. Lex Luger isn't just any ordinary competitor. He's The Total Package and more importantly, he's a Horseman. Get ready, Wahoo. Lex Luger is going to end your career sooner than later!

Tony Schiavone (calling the replay): The Road Warriors get the victory tonight on World Championship Wrestling. Thunderfoot #2 tried a flying cross body press but Animal rolled through it to get the three count. Jim Ross is standing by with The Road Warriors and their manager Paul Ellering.

Jim Ross: Paul Ellering, recently, your Road Warriors have challenged the NWA World Tag Team Champions Ragin' And Rude. Unfortunately for your team, every match has ended in a disqualification or a double countout. Your team seems destined to win those titles.

Paul Ellering: Indeed, Animal and Hawk, the greatest tag team to ever be assembled, are destined to win the NWA World Tag Team Titles. However, standing in our way is Gary Hart and his team of Ragin' and Rude. I have to give credit where it is due. Gary Hart realized the game plan necessary to combat such a powerful force as the Road Warriors. You force the match to a time limit draw, you fight us on the outside of the ring to make sure both teams are counted out, or you outright cheat by disqualifying your team thusly keeping the titles because titles do not change on a disqualification.

Animal: That's right Paul. Manny Fernandez and Rick Rude know they've met their match in The Road Warriors. We are the uncrowned champions. Sooner than later, we'll take what is ours and that's the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Tell 'em Hawk.

Hawk: Weeeeeeeeeeeeeelll, Ragin' and Rude! You can run! You can hide! You might even cry! But realize that my brother and I don't care about your stinkin' feelings! We want those titles and our brilliant advisor Paul Ellering has an idea to make sure you two cowards stop running from us.

Paul Ellering: That's right Hawk. As you all know, Animal and Hawk come from the mean streets of Chicago where there are no rules. The only rules of the street is to be tougher and meaner than the next guy. So what I am proposing is a Chicago Street Fight. No countouts, no disqualifications, no rules. Gary Hart, I'll even further propose that the both of us be banned from ringside to
ensure an even fight.

[Gary Hart walks out but without Ragin' and Rude.]

Gary Hart: Jim Ross, I'll make this short and sweet. Paul Ellering! What you fail to realize is that Manny Fernandez and Rick Rude are the classic definition of tag team wrestling. Your team of Animal and Hawk are nothing more than barbarians! You see, there are a lot of teams out there that want these titles Ragin' and Rude have held proudly. They all think they are the uncrowned champions yet we keep turning them back once they step into the ring with Ragin' and Rude. However, Paul Ellering, I promise you that being the business advisor of the NWA World Tag Team Champions, I will take your challenge under review.

Animal: Let me tell you something, Gary Hart! You're a coward and so is your team!

Hawk: Yeah! Accept our challenge you punk! In case you didn't notice, there's three of us and only one of you!

[Manny Fernandez and Rick Rude surprise Animal and Hawk from behind by hitting them with the titles across the back of their head. Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez double team on Paul Ellering. Rick Rude hits the Rude Awakening on Paul Ellering.]

Jim Ross: The Rock 'n' Roll Express are out here to make the save and Ragin' and Rude have quickly left. But they've made a statement here tonight. A statement that is sure to be returned by The Road Warriors. We're out of time fans. For Tony Schiavone, I'm Jim Ross. We'll see you next week on World Championship Wrestling!

Nice card.

How long does it take for you to put them together, with the written interviews and all?
JustinCaseYouForgotPosted on 01/28/08 at 02:13:21

Yes... truly a great read. I especially loved the Road Warriors segment. It brought back a flood of memories of the real thing.

Keep it up Champ. I always enjoy seeing a new show in this circuit.

What takes the most time is actually just formatting the results to post here. The interviews really don't take much time surprisingly since it's a simple but effective format of putting wrestlers and feuds over. Besides, I'm a big fan of the 1980s NWA so it makes it fun to book. It also helps to have an idea of where you want to go with feuds and title switches so it makes the booking easier.

It all depends on if you think writing interviews is a tedious process or if you enjoy getting into their characters and reading it word for word. I can see the advantages of interview summaries which is what I will use for a TNM-RG like circuit.

Running of the house shows probably takes the longest. If Oliver would ever incorporate saved lineups or even editing of booked shows in advance (to take into account wrestlers that decide to leave the promotion, it would make this simple too. I wish there was some genius plugin maker amongst us that could just create this somehow. I would love to be able to book shows weeks in advance and make changes as necessary.

I think the cards I post for this circuit only look like they take forever to book due to posting the match play by play. If you took those out or shorten them to match finishes, it wouldn't look so long. Thanks for the comments.
