Friday Night Smackdown!
January 26, 2007
Resch Center
Green Bay, Wisconsin

Friday Night Smackdown begins as a video package shows the ending of the WWE United States Championship match between Matt Hardy and Joey Mercury. As the clip ends, "Rise Up 2006" begins to play, along with the Friday Night Smackdown video package. Moments later as the video ends, the camera cuts to the inside of the Resch Center where the lights are off. With a huge blast of fireworks, the arena fills with blue and white lights, illuminating the crowd and the ring area in the center of the building. The aerial camera pans around the arena as the house lights come on; fans try their best to get on television. Michael Cole and John "Bradshaw" Layfield begin their voice-over...

MC: "Welcome to Friday Night Smackdown on the CW! The Royal Rumble is coming to you live in two days, on pay-per-view! But, tonight, we are coming to you from Green Bay, Wisconsin!"

...at this point, the camera is now focused on the broadcast booth, where Michael Cole and JBL are seen sitting...

MC: "Hello once again everyone! I'm Michael Cole alongside JBL. We have a lot of action in store for you tonight as we head into the first pay-per-view event of the year."
JBL: "That's right, Cole. Tonight is the last night for these Superstars to prove their worth going into Sunday's event. There is a lot riding on the Royal Rumble match itself... a chance to challenge for a main event title match in April, at WrestleMania!"
MC: "The biggest event of the year; and we know that one half of the main event will be determined in 48 hours, in Minneapolis..."

... the commentary is interrupted as Smackdown general manager, Teddy Long's music begins to play. The crowd turns their attention to the stage, as the camera swings over to see Long appear on stage. With a microphone in hand, Long makes his way to the ring.

TL: "Let me hear all the playa's in Green Bay holla!"

The crowd screams at the top of their lungs, on Long's command.

TL: "All right, playa's, let's get this show cookin'. Now, you all know that this Sunday night, the biggest and the brightest of World Wrestling Entertainment are gonna invade Minneapolis, Minnesota for the Royal Rumble. The stage couldn't be any higher: a chance to headline this year's WrestleMania! However, it seems to me that, we on Smackdown have been a little bit behind schedule. You see, already this week, the participants from RAW and from ECW have been named. That only leaves me, to do what I gotta do, ya'll! I am out here tonight to announce the 12 participants from the Smackdown brand that will be taking part in this Sunday's Royal Rumble."

The crowd begins to cheer once again. Long smiles as he looks around the arena at his show's fans...

TL: "The 12 members from Smackdown that will be in the main event this Sunday night are: Batista, Chris Benoit, Funaki, Matt Hardy, Gregory Helms, King Booker, Joey Mercury, Jamie Noble, William Regal, Tatanka, and Vito."
MC: "Wow, JBL! Those are some huge names! Any one of those competitors will have a chance to walk away with a guaranteed main event at Wrestlemania!"
JBL: "There's a lot of talent coming from the Smackdown brand this weekend. But, you can't look past the fact that there will be 18 others - from RAW and ECW - that are gunning for the same thing, Cole. This match, as of now, is still anyone's to win. We'll find out who has the fortitude to win the big one, this Sunday night!"
TL: "However, being the competitor that I am, personally, I can't sit back and allow those 12 men to have a night off. So, tonight, as the final send-off before this Sunday's event I have set up a massive six-on-six man tag match for tonight! Playa's, tonight, all 12 men will be in this ring at the same time."

Green Bay lights up again with applause as they anticipate the main event this evening. Long begins to walk around the ring for a moment, before stopping so he can finish his statement.

TL: "Playa's, enjoy the show tonight, and I'll look forward to seein' ya'll at the Royal Rumble!"

Long's music plays once again as he leaves the ring and heads backstage. Smackdown goes to commercials.

Smackdown returns from commercials as Elijah Burke's music begins to play. He appears on-stage and makes his way to the ring as Michael Cole voice-overs...

MC: "Welcome back to Smackdown. As you can see, Elijah Burke is making his way to the ring, as he gets set to take on the Cruiserweight Champion - Scotty 2 Hotty - in a non-title match this week.
JBL: "Cole, I know that Scotty 2 Hotty in the Cruiserweight Champion, but just look at the size of Elijah Burke! Scotty doesn't stand a chance tonight!"

... now in the ring, Burke awaits his opponents arrival. Next, Scotty 2 Hotty's music breaks the silence, causing the crowd to cheer softly. He appears on stage, with the Cruiserweight Title around his waist, and makes his way down the ramp as well.

MC: "It's true that Burke has the size advantage over Scotty in this match. But, if you remember, JBL, last week Scotty won the Cruiserweight title from a much bigger opponent in Sylvan."
JBL: "Sylvan was beside himself, having lost to Scotty the week before that, too, Cole. I don't think Scotty beat Sylvan in that match. I believe that Sylvan lost that match due to a lack of confidence."
MC: "Either way, Scotty 2 Hotty is here tonight, as the Cruiserweight Champion."

...now in the ring, the referee signals for the bell.

Non-Title Match:
Scotty 2 Hotty © pinned Elijah Burke with the Worm in 4:31.
Rating: *** 1/4

After the match, Scotty 2 Hotty leaves the ring and grabs his Cruiserweight title. Inside the ring, a dumbfounded Burke looks on in shock at his loss. As Scotty walks up the ramp, the scene cuts backstage, where Josh Matthews is with Chavo Guerrero.

JM: "Chavo Guerrero, last week you were quite upset with your aunt Vickie, over her actions in the tag team match... blaming her for losing your chance at the United States Championship. However, in the week since then, you've been named the number one contender for the Cruiserweight Championship. Does that mend any feelings you've had for not getting to challenge for the U.S. Title?"
CG: "Josh, you know... yes, I had very angry over the fact that my own family cost me a shot at the U.S. Title. I know I could've won that title, had I been given a chance for it. However, it wasn't meant to be. But, yes, I am the number one contender for the Cruiserweight title. A lot of people have been wondering why I'm not taking my shot at the Royal Rumble this Sunday night. I'll tell you why not, Josh. Sure, I've got my eye squarely on Scotty 2 Hotty and the Cruiserweight Title. I know that, down the road - in the very near future - that title is going to be mine. But, this Sunday night - at the Rumble, I'm focusing on one person only. Chris Benoit, you and I have gone against each other many, many times in our pasts. This Sunday, however, is going to be different. This Sunday night isn't going to be just a normal Benoit-Guerrero match. No, you've gotten on my last nerve for your actions over the past couple weeks; and Sunday night, I'm going to make you regret EVER stepping in the way of me!"

Chavo leaves the area as the scene cuts back to the ring.

MC: "Strong words by Chavo there, JBL."
JBL: "Yeah, you know Cole - this rivalry has been going on for years. This Sunday night is going to be one hell of a match!"
MC: "Indeed it will be."

"Cherub Rock" begins to play as Psicosis is introduced. He appears on stage to a rousing round of boos from the Green Bay crowd. He makes his way inside the ring as his music dies down. His opponent, Paul London is introduced to cheers and applause as he walks on stage. He makes his way down the ramp, sliding under the bottom rope. Once on his feet, the referee starts the match.

Paul London pinned Psicosis with the Calling London in 8:02.
Rating: ** ¾

The crowd cheers as London is announced the winner. He rolls out of the ring as Psicosis argues with the referee over the speed of the count.

MC: "Psicosis is trying to plead his case to the referee..."
JBL: "He should! That was absolutely a fast-count! This match should continue!"
MC: "Well, that's not what the official says, JBL. It looks like Psicosis is going to have to deal with the loss and wait to settle this at another time."

Smackdown goes to commercial as Psicosis angrily leaves the ring.

Backstage, after commercials, Matt Hardy is seen stretching for the main event as William Regal walks up behind him. Hardy sees the shadow and slowly stands up, looking Regal in the face. The United States champion grabs his title and places it over his shoulder as he stares at his visitor.

MH: "What do I owe this visit to?"
WR: "Ah, Mister Hardy. I was just seeing if you were ready for the main event tonight. There's going to be a lot of pressure out there."
MH: "Yeah, I think I'm going to be ready. And, tonight, I'm going to prove that I have what it takes to win the Royal Rumble. But, I know you're not in here to find out how I'm doing. So, what the hell do you want?"
WR: "Matthew, I wanted to come by and personally let you know that your little title reign won't be as long as you hope it will be. You won the title through a series of unfortunate events. However, you've never defended it against a real opponent. That stops now, because I intend on winning that title, and showing you what a true grappler is capable of."

Regal exits the room, leaving Hardy to stare straight ahead. The scene cuts to another area of the Resch Center, where Daviari is with The Great Khali.

D: "Listen to me, Khali. Next week, we are going to be in that tournament for the WWE Tag Team Titles. There is no team on Smackdown that can beat us! When we win those titles, Khali, we will rule Smackdown!"
KG: (Speaks unintelligibly)

The scene fades back to the ring area...

MC: "JBL, it looks like Daviari and The Great Khali have entered themselves into the tag team tournament that will begin next week in Madison."
JBL: "Michael, it's obvious that they're going to be the favorites coming into the tournament. I mean, have you seen The Great Khali? He's a giant! He could very well walk into this tournament by himself, and destroy the three, unlucky teams that enter this thing! I wouldn't be surprised at all to see those two walk away with the tag team titles."
MC: "Well, that's going to remain to be seen, as next week, Teddy Long will formally announce the four teams competing in the WWE Tag Team Title tournament..."

Ashley's music begins to play as the Diva walks on stage to a huge amount of cheers; mostly from the male audience members. She makes her way down the ramp, waving to the crowd and smiling...

MC: "... but, right now, I think it's time for everyone's favorite part of the program as two of the Smackdown Divas get set for action."
JBL: "I know I'm going to enjoy it, Cole. But, I can't say the same for you."
MC: "Very funny."

... now in the ring, Ashley waits for her opponent. Melina's music begins to play as a red carpet is laid on the red as she appears on stage. Melina walks down the ramp and enters the ring where she taunts Ashley. As her music ends, the referee starts the match.

Melina pinned Ashley with the Make-Up 101 in 17:39.
Rating: -***

The bells sounds as Melina is announced the winner. She looks disgusted towards the crowd as they continue to throw insults at her. She jerks her hand away from the referee and leaves the ring, angrily making her way up the ramp. Inside the ring, Ashley slowly gets to her feet, upset about her loss. She rolls out of the ring and makes her way up the ramp as well...

MC: "Folks, when we return, we will have HUGE 12-man tag action!"

Smackdown goes to commercials as Ashley leaves the stage.

The show returns, showing Bobby Lashley in his locker room. Suddenly, the lights in the room turn off, and the sound of scuffling can be heard. The voice of The Undertaker can be heard in the darkness.

U: "The Royal Rumble is a place where names are made; a place where greatness becomes reality; a place where the worthy proves their value. However, this Sunday night where nightmares take shape in the natural light. Your chances fade as quickly as the come to you. Will you be able to make the most of your opportunities? Or, will you be the first in a long line of soon-to-be victims that fall to my will and desire? That question will remain until you prove to the world, one way or the other. But, be warned... this Sunday night, you will rest... in... peace."

The Undertaker's voice fades away as the lights come back on to see Lashley laid out in the center of the locker room. The crowd gasps in shock at the sight being shown on the Titantron.

MC: "Oh my God! Bobby Lashley has been attacked backstage! But, by who?"
JBL: "This has to be a clear-cut signal from the Undertaker!"
MC: "What a signal it is! This is going to be a great match-up, this Sunday night. However, tonight, we were told about a huge match that will be taking place in just a couple moments."

A clip from earlier in the show of Teddy Long's announcement is shown - giving the names of the 12 Smackdown participants in the Rumble, and announcing the six-on-six tag match. The clip ends as the scene goes to a live shot.

JBL: "I can't wait for this match, Cole. Each one of these men what a shot at the Rumble..."
MC: "It's certainly going to give us an indication as to who the favorite might be for this Sunday night."

William Regal, Joey Mercury, Sylvan, Jamie Noble, King Booker and Gregory Helms are introduced as they all appear one at a time, on stage. They each make their way to the ring; King Booker is accompanied by Queen Sharmell. Inside the ring, all six members begin speaking to each other. Next up are Funaki, Batista, Chris Benoit, Tatanka, Matt Hardy, and Daivari. When Daivari walks through the curtains, the crowd instantly begins to boo.

MC: "What the hell happened to Vito, JBL?"
JBL: "I have no clue! But, in any case, Daivari should be a nice replacement. I'm sure Vito's whereabouts will come around at some point."
MC: "I don't think this looks good for Vito..."

Now in the ring, all 12 men stare at each other as the referee starts the match.

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Funaki, Batista, Chris Benoit, Tatanka, Daivari and Matt Hardy defeated William Regal, Joey Mercury, Sylvan, Jamie Noble, King Booker and Gregory Helms when M. Hardy pinned G. Helms after a flying legdrop in 0:30.
Rating: *

The match ends as quickly as it started, stunning the entire crowd! Matt Hardy exits the ring, along with his teammates as Helms' partners stand around the ring apron, shocked at what they just witnessed.

MC: "This doesn't look like a very good way for Gregory Helms to go into the Royal Rumble this Sunday night."
JBL: "If I were one of his teammates, I want to make sure that he doesn't forget how this match ended!"
MC: "That's why you're here, JBL, and not in the ring."
JBL: "Shut up, Cole!"
MC: "Folks, we are out of time for this week. Be sure to join us, this Sunday night, for the Royal Rumble! It'll be coming to you live from the Target Center in Minneapolis... only on pay-per-view! For JBL, I'm Michael Cold, saying goodnight from Green Bay!"

Smackdown goes off the air showing Gregory Helms looking at his partners as they leave the ring area.

Friday Night Smackdown!

Kohl Center
Madison, Wisconsin

The show starts with The Undertaker in the ring; the ring is surrounded in darkness, except for a faint blue light.

TU: "Many questions have been asked about the events that took place at the Royal Rumble. Bobby Lashley is telling himself that, what happened Sunday, was nothing but a fluke. Well, the creatures of the night have different opinions. The actions that occurred at the Royal Rumble were significant signs to show all that cross my path, that their bodies and souls will never be the same, again. Tonight, the World Heavyweight Title is on the line. Once more, Bobby Lashley finds himself the challenger. But, I can promise you; I am going out there tonight, and I will prove The Undertaker wrong, once and for all."

... In another area, backstage, William Regal is seen standing over the prone body of U.S. Champion, Matt Hardy.

I know that you have a lot on your plate for the upcoming weeks ahead, but I think that we can come to an agreement, and we could have you headlining WrestleMania for the Smackdown brand."
AS: "Well, thank you. Winning the Rumble, Sunday night, was a huge experience for me, and I couldn't be happier. Hell, I even won the Intercontinental Title in the process! But, yes, I've got a lot of thinking to do before WrestleMania. I feel that I'm leaning in a certain direction, but I'm always open to more ideas. What did you have in mind?"
TL: "Well, playa', we have a return match for the World Heavyweight Title later tonight. And, what I'm thinking is, to have you sit at ringside and see the kind of competition Smackdown can offer, on a first-hand basis. What'd ya say, playa'?"

Before Al Snow can answer, Chris Benoit barges into the office. He stares at Snow and then at Long:

CB: "What the hell's going on here?"
TL: "Whoa, Chris... playa', what do you want?"
CB: "I want to know whether or not he is challenging for the World Heavyweight Title."
TL: "He hasn't decided... but, what's it matter to you?"
CB: "It matters because, I want a title shot at No Way Out! Unless that happens, you're not going to have a main event until he decides to fight at WrestleMania!"
TL: "Chris, just go calm down, and I will think about things. I will make my decision next week. Now, please..."

Friday Night Smackdown
February 9, 2007
Taco Bell Arena
Boise, Idaho

The show begins with highlights from the World Heavyweight Title match from last week. Chris Benoit comes out to the ring, to a huge applause from the crowd, and gets into the ring with a microphone. He says that ever since The Undertaker won the World Heavyweight Title on Smackdown a few weeks ago, he has proven that he has what it takes to hold that title. At the Royal Rumble, he defeated Bobby Lashley, and then last week, he did the exact same thing. However, Benoit says, Lashley didn't have what it took to become the "man" on Smackdown. Benoit says he not only believes... but knows, that he has what it takes to win the World Heavyweight Title next Sunday night at No Way Out. Tonight, Benoit says, he's going to show off those skills, and send a message to The Undertaker.

----------

Coming back from the commercial break, Idol Stevens is seen talking to Teddy Long. Stevens asks the Smackdown general manager if there is any possible way for him to take over Sylvan's position, and go back to teaming up with his partner, KC James. Teddy Long tells Stevens that the events that took place last week were unfortunate. However, since he was unable to take part in the tag team title match, Stevens has no place on the team. Long says that Sylvan was a fair replacement, and the adjustment stays. Stevens says that he doesn't like the situation and walks away from Long. As he leaves the scene, KC James confronts him. Stevens tells him that Long has kept the team the same as it was, last week. James tells his friend that finding out that Stevens wasn't going to be his partner was tough, but in this business, you have to make sacrifices. James says that, no matter whom he's tag team champions with, he and Idol Stevens are still the tag team to beat on Smackdown.

Chavo Guerrero (w/Vickie Guerrero) defeated Psicosis by disqualification in 17:18.
Rating: **

After the match ends, Psicosis tries to plead his case to the referee. It's clearly shown in the replay that Psicosis threw referee Danny Davis to the outside of the ring, which should get him a $10,000 fine by Teddy Long. However, outside the ring, Vickie Guerrero takes advantage of the referee's distraction. She hurries over to the time-keeper's table and grabs a chair. She slides the chair into the ring, which Chavo grabs and conceals it behind his back. As the referee ends the discussion, and leaves the ring, Psicosis turns around as Chavo connects with a brutal chair-shot to the skull! The crowd in Boise boos at the top of their lungs as Chavo stands over his opponent, laughing. Outside the ring, Vickie throws Chavo a microphone as the boos begin to dissipate. Chavo says that what just happened is a clear-cut message, intended to reach the Cruiserweight Champion, Scotty 2 Hotty. Chavo says that there is nothing that can stand in his way of walking out of Los Angeles as the new Cruiserweight Champion at No Way Out. He and Vickie leave the ring, leaving Psicosis, unconscious on the canvas.

----------

Paul London & Brian Kendrick defeated Vito & Tatanka when P. London pinned Tatanka after a small package in 15:58.
Rating: ** ¾

London and Kendrick leave the ring, hurriedly, as Tatanka gets to his feet in disgust of how he lost the match. Vito enters the ring and begins to talk to Tatanka, but he gets stopped as "The Native American" is heard saying "It's my fault." Tatanka exits the ring, leaving Vito alone.

Backstage, Kristal Marshall asks Matt Hardy about facing William Regal next Sunday night at No Way Out. Hardy says that he has nothing to worry about, because Regal doesn't give him anything to worry about. Hardy says that Regal may have the accolades in the business, but he's not walking into Los Angeles as the United States Champion. Hardy says that he has gone through hell just to win the title, and he's not going to give it up very easily. He says that Regal will have to go through war to get the United States Title from him at No Way Out.

Jamie Noble made Funaki submit to the Dragon Sleeper in 11:26.
Rating: *** ½

Noble left the ring to the boos of the crowd. This has been the best match of the show at the half-way point, according to the fan's reaction. However, if this crowd keeps going at the level its at, they should be looking forward to tonight's main event. Funaki is awakened and helped out of the ring as Smackdown goes to commercials.

----------

Non-Title Match:
Matt Hardy © pinned Sylvan after a flying legdrop in 8:25.
Rating: *** 1/4

Hardy and Sylvan gave Jamie Noble and Funaki a run for their money as it comes to the best match of the night. Hardy walks away with the victory and continues his winning ways heading into No Way Out, next Sunday night. As of now, it looks like a very interesting match between Hardy and William Regal - on paper.

Backstage, Brian Kendrick and Paul London are celebrating their victory earlier in the show, when they are confronted by KC James. He tells Kendrick and London that he and Idol Stevens may not be a team right now, but that doesn't mean that they won't face each other, again. James promises that the next time the two teams face each other, Stevens will be back at full strength, and things are going to be a lot different.

Elijah Burke pinned Bobby Lashley after a sitdown faceslam in 6:12.
Rating: ** 1/4

The crowd is visibly stunned at the outcome of this match. Lashley is coming off a rematch against the World Heavyweight Champion last week. This was going to be his week to redeem himself for losing twice in one week to The Undertaker. It seems like the pressure of not being able to come out on top last week was still with Lashley as he is unable to defeat his smaller opponent. For his sake, he better hope this isn't a sign of things to come, especially heading into No Way Out.

Backstage, The Undertaker responds to Chris Benoit's statements from earlier in the show. The World Heavyweight Champion says that if Benoit wants to prove his worth, all he needs to do is beat The Undertaker at No Way Out. But, 'Taker says, that is easier said then done... and he uses Bobby Lashley as an example. "Taker says he'll be watching Benoit's match tonight, very closely... and that he'll have a message for the Number One Contender next week in Seattle.

----------

Chris Benoit defeated Ken Kennedy by countout in 21:02.
Rating: ***

Benoit came into this match, hoping to make a statement to the Undertaker. What the crowd got instead, was a sign that Mr. Kennedy isn't going to lay down for anyone! The look on "The Crippler's" face told the story of how his plan backfired on him in this match. This match was a lot tougher than he thought, and it could be possible that Kennedy earned an amount of respect from the others in the back with this showing.

Friday Night Smackdown
February 16, 2007

In the Ring:
Chris Benoit comes out to the ring, to a huge ovation from the crowd. Benoit says that, last week, he may have taken Ken Kennedy for granted in their match... and because of that, he was not able to truly defeat Kennedy last week. Benoit says that he let down the crowd in Boise last week... and that he doesn't plan on doing that again this week. Ken Kennedy interrupts "The Rabid Wolverine", coming down to the ring, himself. He says that Benoit is just one of many in the Smackdown locker room who hasn't given Kennedy the credit he deserves. Kennedy says that tonight, he is going to beat respect out of Benoit and show the others in the back that he's nothing to laugh at. Suddenly, the lights in the Key Arena go out. When they come back on, World Heavyweight Champion, The Undertaker, is seen standing behind Kennedy. He chokeslams Kennedy in the center of the ring before turning his attention to Benoit. They stare at each other as The Undertaker makes a throat-slashing motion towards Benoit before leaving the ring. Benoit is left in the ring as Smackdown goes to commercials.

Backstage:
Cruiserweight Champion, Scotty 2 Hotty, tells Kristal Marshall that Chavo Guerrero did nothing to make the champion think that his title was in jeopardy this Sunday night at No Way Out. He says that Guerrero only proved himself to be a coward... and that nothing he did last week, nor anything he has planned before No Way Out, will scare him. Scotty says that there's no reason why he should lose the Cruiserweight Title, Sunday night.

COMMERCIAL

Tatanka pinned Finlay after a powerslam in 3:55.
Rating: * ¾

Tatanka pulled out a big upset over Finaly in the opening match of the evening. For the first minutes of the match, it looked as if Finlay had the clear advantage. However, "The Native American" found a slim opening and was able to power the Irishman into a powerslam for the 1-2-3.

Interview:
Kristal Marshall asks William Regal what his thoughts were about Matt Hardy's comments, last week. Regal says that he find it's quite astonishing how Hardy can recall all the accolades the Regal brings into the match, and in the next breath say that he isn't scared of Regal. The challenge says that Matt Hardy should know better than to take Regal for granted. He says that he might not be champion today... and he won't be champion walking into No Way Out... but that he looks forward to battling in the so-called "war" that Hardy has called it... and coming out of the battle with the U.S. Title around his waist.

Backstage:
Smackdown General Manager, Teddy Long tells the crowd in Seattle that later in the evening, there will be a number one contender's match to see who will challenge KC James and Sylvan for the WWE Tag Team Titles this Sunday night at No Way Out. He says that the match will be between Brian Kendrick/Paul London and Daivari/The Great Khali.

COMMERCIAL

Batista defeated Elijah Burke by disqualification in 7:28.
Rating: **

Elijah Burke cost himself this match by attacking the referee, ultimately getting himself DQ-ed. Also with the attack, Burke will find himself $10,000 poorer next week, as he is sure to face a fine for his actions. After the bell rings, Batista grabs Burke - who' arguing with the referee - and sends him crashing to the mat with a thunderous Batista Bomb!

Backstage:
Bobby Lashley is seen watching the events unfold on a monitor. Kristal Marshall asks him how he feels about losing to Burke last week. Lashley says that getting pinned in the manner that he did was very embarrassing to him... especially after watching Burke's actions just a few moments ago. Lashley says that he hasn't been about to get the loss out of his mind... and that he plans on making up for his embarrassment tonight when he takes on one-half of the Tag Team Champions: Slyvan.

Non-Title Match:
Matt Hardy © defeated Jamie Noble by disqualification in 2:08.
Rating: ** 1/4

Bobby Lashley defeated Sylvan by disqualification in 6:23.
Rating: DUD

Bobby Lashley made good on his promise from earlier in the show, taking out his aggression on tag team champion, Sylvan. However, it's hard to say if his embarrassment went away with how he won the match. Sylvan seemed to want no part of this match, and used the referee as a shield... which ultimately cost the match. After the bell rang, Sylvan slipped out of the ring as Lashley stood in the ring, angry about how things went down.

Backstage:
Idol Stevens is with Sylvan's tag team partner, KC James, talking about the number one contender's match coming up. Stevens says that Kendrick and London might get their chance to challenge for the titles... and that he would do anything to get a piece of them. James says he understands what his former partner is talking about, and agrees that it's too bad that he isn't a part of the team. But, James tells him that he'll get his shot at the duo at a later time.

Afterwards, Khali and Daivari stared down Stevens as he continued down the aisle.

Chris Benoit tells Kristal that if The Undertaker has any plans of showing up in his match with Kennedy, The Deadman will pay for his actions, Sunday night at No Way Out. Benoit says that, having such a close match - like the one last week - only added fuel to his fire of wanting to win the World Heavyweight Title this Sunday night. He finishes off by saying that he wants the title too badly, that there's nothing The Undertaker can do to keep him from getting it.

However, on this night neither were able to pick up a victory as they went past the time limit. After the match, the lights in the arena go off and a bell begins to ring throughout the arena. Friday Night Smackdown!
March 16, 2007
Sovereign Bank Arena
Trenton, New Jersey

In The Ring:
Batista starts off the program, coming out to the ring. He's dressed in a white suit with a wife-beater underneathe. He has on black dress shoes and a pair of sunglasses rests on the top of his head.

Batista: "Last week was a huge moment for me. Not only did I main event Smackdown in Tucson, but I was in the ring with a living legend - The Undertaker. Now, I know there's a lot of people in the back that don't think I should've been in this ring last week. It's very easy to tell when a group of people don't believe in you. But, none of that matters to me! I was picked last week and along with The Deadman, I walked out victorious." (Crowd cheers)

After Batista speaks, United States Champion William Regal appears on-stage; the title wrapped around his waist.

WR: "Batista, I believe that a congradulations is in order for your victory last week. You were right about one thing: Along with The Undertaker, you DID pick up a win. However, I would have to agree moreso with the opinions of the others backstage. You see, in your mind, you think you belonged out there with The Undertaker last week. But, can you give any of us a reason why that should be so? I honestly don't think you can... because you've done nothing to warrant that kind of respect. The person who should've been out there is Tatanka. (Crowd murmurs) Now, I don't want any of you thinking that I'm trying to boost Tatanka's confidence, because no matter what happens, he will not be able to defeat me at WrestleMania! (Crowd boos) So, Batista, where is your reasoning for expecting to be put in the main event, when you know you're not that good?"

Batista begins to pace around the ring; the crowd continuing to murmur amongst themselves. Batista stops and turns towards the stage...

Batista: "William Regal, you don't think that I have what it takes to be put into the main event on Smackdown? Why don't you bring your ass down here and I'll show you what
I'm capable of!" (Crowd cheers)

Regal begins to speak, but gets interrupted as Teddy Long also appears on-stage.

TL: "Batista, listen up playa. The decision last week to put you in the main event was mine. So, whatever anyone has to say about it... they can say it to me. Now, before you go crazy up here in Trenton, I want to let you know something. Tonight, you are going to be in action... but, sorry playa, it won't be against William Regal. (Crowd boos) You see, I'm a business man playa, and I have to do what's good for business. So, tonight, Batista... you will be going one on one against The World Heavyweight Champion, The Undertaker! (Crowd cheers) However, also tonight, The Great Khali will be in action, taking on Tatanka!"

From his spot on the stage, William Regal is seen smiling as Batista nods his head, standing in the ring.

KC James & Idol Stevens are seen, standing backstage with Kristal Marshall. KM: "KC James... Idol Stevens, for a couple weeks last month, you two had apparently severed ties to one another. KC, you were Tag Team Champions with Sylvan...
KJ: "... don't even finish saying his name! I know what you're going to say, and it's true. Yes, I was Sylvan's tag team partner. But what he won't tell you is that I was the
one that held that team together. It was thrown together in the first place because of Idol's injury, but it was still a team. We had a chance to win the WWE Tag Team Titles at No Way Out... and that's exactly what we did. And, as you're remember, just a few weeks ago, we lost those same belts to Paul London and Brian Kendrick. That was one of the worst nights I can ever remember! I felt so sick to my stomach that night, because I knew - deep down - that had Idol been in that ring, instead of Sylvan, we'd still be tag team champions."
IS: "Kristal, just remember that KC and I look down on failure. KC looked down on himself for a few days after losing the tag team titles. But, the fact of the matter is, Idol Stevens and KC James are back together again! The team division here on Smackdown is never going to be the same!"
KJ: "London... Kendrick... if you two snot-nosed brats are listening right now, this is your warning. We know that you've got no plans for WrestleMania on April 1st. But, luckily for you, those plans have changed! We are challenging you to a match for the WWE Tag Team Titles. If you two are man enough... you know where to find us."

James & Idol leave the scene as, in another area of arena, Josh Matthews is with "The Animal" Batista.

JM: "Batista, just a little bit ago, Teddy Long announced that you will be taking on The Undertaker in a non-title match, later tonight. Do you have any thoughts about heading into a match against the man you teamed up with last week?"
Batista: "Josh, all I can tell you is it sucks. I don't know who Teddy's trying to impress... I don't believe for a second that the fans are wanting to see myself and 'Taker step into the ring against each other. But, you know what, Josh? Whether it's the crowds or whoever... there is going to be nothing stopping me from giving The Undertaker everything I have inside that ring, tonight! I told William Regal that I deserve to be in the main events here on Smackdown... and tonight, I 'm going to prove it."

Batista storms off as the show goes to commercials.

Interview:
Josh Matthews is shown backstage with "The Native American" Tatanka...

JM: "Tatanka, you have the high-risk task of taking on The Great Khali, tonight. Is there any way that you can fully prepare for a match like this?"
Tatanka: "Josh, I come from a people that had to face challenges every day; some worse then me facing The Great Khali later on. Growing up with the way I was raised, I was taught that the only thing you can do is to go in as prepared as you can and do everything you can to make sure you come out on top. That is exactly what I plan on doing this evening. Khali is the biggest athlete in this sport; he's a mountain of a man. The only way to get over the mountain... is one step at a time."

Tatanka walks away, leaving Josh to ponder his message. In another area backstage, Chavo Guerrero is seen, with his back turned to the camera. He is heard speaking in Spanish, but it's unclear who to.

TL: "What can I do to help, playa?"
JBL: "Well first, stop calling me "playa". (crowd laughs) No one really knows what that means, and I'm sure you don't either. But, hey, it's cool if you're just trying to be cool with the kids. But, seriously, Teddy... I want a rematch against Kane tonight!" (Crowd murmurs)
TL: "You want to step back into the ring with "The Big Machine"? Alright, pla... I mean, John. I can give you that match. Let's just hope you're better prepared then last time."

JBL gives Long an odd look before noddin his head and leaving the office. In another area backstage, Rob Conway emerges from the parking lot and confronts Sylvan, who is standing just past the entrance to the arena.

RC: "Sylvan."
Sylvan: "Rob. Good to see you."
RC: "What did you want to talk about?"
Sylvan: "I want to talk to you about something very important. But, I think it's better to discuss it somewhere else. There's no telling who could be listening."

Sylvan turns and begins to walk down the hallway; Conway following behind him.

Tatanka defeated The Great Khali (w/Daivari) by disqualification in 6:19.
Rating: -****
[William Regal interfered against Tatanka.]

The crowd had absolutely no interest in this match, even with William Regal's inteference. The big surprise of was that Tatanka was able to put Khali in a Cobra Clutch two times! After the match, Tatanka and Regal brawled in the ring... but only for a moment. Khali connected with a thunderous double clothesline and followed that up with two separate Tree Slams to both Tatanka and the United States Champion. Khali looked to be in a very foul mood as he and Daivari left the ring.

Backstage:
Coming back from commercials, Sylvan and Rob Conway are seen backstage...

RC: "The time has come. It's time for the greatest tag team to come out of Quebec to take over Friday Night Smackdown! Sylvan and myself - Robert Conway - have joined forces once again, and we plan on taking over the tag tem division! Next week, our dominance will begin... and soon, every team will know there is no stopping La Resistance!"

The two men stare at the camera as it fades back to the ring area.

John "Bradshaw" Layfield pinned Kane with the Clothesline From Hell in 14:32.

JBL came into this match with a mission. A mission to - once and for all - show that he can defeat a taller, stronger opponent. In the rematch from last week, he was able to do exactly that. In an impressive display of strength, JBL powerbombed Kane on the outside of the ring! That move could've easily helped lead JBL to victory.

Interview:
After the match, Kristal Marshall is backstage with World Heavyweight Champion, The Undertaker.

KM: "Undertaker, we just saw your brother Kane lose in a rematch to JBL. Have you spoken to him since he's come over from RAW?
UT: "No. Kane and I have different things going on. I've been focusing on what I need to do at WrestleMania."
KM: "Speaking of WrestleMania. We've already seen your opponent - The Great Khali - lose to Tatanka due to interference from William Regal. But, in just a few moments, you will be stepping into the ring with Batista. What's going through your mind right now, knowing that you will be facing the man you teamed up with last week?"
UT: "Everyone has been putting too much emphasis on this match... where it isn't needed. Tonight, Batista and I will do battle inside that ring. I do not feel bad for what will go on, because Batista and I have no connection to each other. We were both placed in that tag team match last week. One match does not make two men friends; nor does it make them enemies. However, on this night, Batista will be standing across that ring from me. Tonight, I am going out to that ring with only one thing on my mind: to win. Khali and Daivari have been trying to send messages throughout the locker room, hoping to get under my skin. What they don't realize though, is that just by announcing himself the challenger for my World Heavyweight Title, he has gotten further under my skin then any one else I've stepped into the ring. Tonight, I will be the one sending the message to The Great Khali."

The Undertaker walks away, leaving Kristal stunned...

If the Undertaker's message was that he could defeat a big opponent in under two minutes... he definitely proved it to The Great Khali! The crowd was in shock at how quickly this match came to an end. However, that shock was quickly turned into concern as Batista lay lifeless in the center of the ring. The referee called for EMTs, who rushed down to the ring with a stretcher. After a short amount of time, they were able to put Batista into a neck brace and on the stretcher, carting him out to the ambulance parked outside the arena.

In the back, Kristal asks WWE Cruiserweight Champion Scotty 2 Hotty of his thoughts about teaming up with the man who will challenge him to a match in nine days - Psicosis - to take on Chavo Guerrero and his mystery partner. Scotty tells Kristal that Chavo Guerrero has ruined his own chances at getting a title match... and he has no one to blame but himself. He says that Chavo had his chance a few weeks back but his aunt got in the way. He says that teaming up with Psicosis is no big deal. They both know what needs to be done later tonight, and that next Sunday night, their must face each other for the Cruiserweight Title. Scotty finishes off by saying that he's not too concerned about the match at WrestleMania right now, because he's concentrating on the tag team match. As Scotty walks away, the WWE Tag Team Champions - Paul London and Brian Kendrick - are shown entering the Quicken Loans Arena.

Coming back from commercials, Tatanka speaks from the locker room about the injury to Batista. He sends his condolences to "The Animal", but says that he can now focused squarely on William Regal and the United States Championship. As Tatanka gets up to leave the room, Regal attacks him in plane view of the camera! The two men brawl in the locker room for a few minutes until security and officials rush in and break up the fight. Tatanka screams at Regal that the U.S. Title will be his next Sunday night.

Also in the back, before entering their locker room, the WWE Tag Team Champions are told about the challenge issued by KC James last week. London says that he heard about the challenge and that he and Kendrick have come to Cleveland to accept the title request for WrestleMania. This gets a good reaction from the crowd, but as soon as they accept, the champions leave to enter their locker room.

In his office, General Manager Theodore Long explains to the crowd that the match between John "Bradshaw" Layfield and Idol Stevens will not be taking place tonight, due to the weather and road conditions that have kept both men away from the arena. Long says, however, the match will take place next week in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Long apologizes to the crowd once more.

Elijah Burke talks to Kristal as Smackdown returns from another commercial break. He tells her that tonight is the night he proves that his victories over Batista in the past were no fluke. He says that tonight, he is going to earn his spot in WrestleMania... and that he will grasp the Golden Opportunity, and will soon be a World Champion in the WWE. He says that when that day comes, he will take Kristal out for a date. Burke then walks away as Kristal looks on, impressed.

(2) Chavo Guerrero/Mystery Partner (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. © Scotty 2 Hotty/Psicosis

Chavo Guerrero got a near-fall on Psicosis in the open seconds of the match, but after a failed 2-on-1 attempt by Chavo's mystery partner, Mistico, Psicosis took the advantage. Just as quickly has he got the advantage, he relinquished it back to Chavo who, with help from Mistico, held Psicosis in their corner. Somehow, Psicosis was able to tag into the Cruiserweight Champion, and Scotty sparked a fire for his team, taking out Mistico with a DDT for a quick two-count. Mistico was able to block a backbreaker and hit Scotty with a backdrop to take over the advantage. However, Psicosis slid into the ring and tosses Mistico outside the ring so he and Scotty could do a number to Guerrero! They threw Guerrero outside the ring with Scotty following behind. The tension between these two could be felt as Scotty threw Chavo against both the ringsteps and the guardrail! After an enzuigiri, Scotty pushed Chavo back into the ring... but only for a two-count! Chavo found his break as he ducked under a superkick from the champ and hit a dropkick of his own before tagging out to the fresher Mistico. However, the two-on-one failed again, as Scotty reversed a double backdrop into a double headsmash, sending his opponents to the canvas! Mistico, being as fresh as he is, was able to shake off the pain and dropkick Scotty in the knee before taking him down with a magistral for a two-count. Scotty caught himself a break as he was able to dodge a kick from Mistico and tag out to Psicosis. However, with the referee's attention to the two men in the ring, Chavo slid past and threw Scotty to the outside - as revenge from earlier in the match! And, for good measure, he and Mistico hit Psicosis with a double dropkick before Chavo left the ring. Mistico was then able to hit a Frankensteiner on Psicosis, but also for a two-count. In a last burst of power, Psicosis was able to reverse a rana into a powerbomb (getting a two-count), before tagging Scotty back into the match. Unlike their opponents, they were able to hit Mistico with a double backdrop! After a dropkick from the champ, Psicosis tried to enter the ring, but Chavo was there to throw him back out, evening the stakes at 1-1.

With his attention to his partner, Scotty was thrown to the outside as well by Mistico who attempted a plancha... but Scotty moved out of the way! After a short one-count, they enter the ring where Scotty executes an enzuigiri followed by a leaping swinging DDT for the cover, but Mistico was able to get his foot on the ropes after two. The crowd showed their appreciation for the champ after a dropkick to Mistico. He then sent Mistico into the corner and connected on two straight chops, causing the crowd to scream "Wooooo!"

After a bodyslam from the champ, Psicosis entered the ring, and in a good sign of teamwork, they hit a double elbowdrop onto Mistico. Scotty followed that up with another enzuigiri and a flying legdrop for a two-count. Hoping to wear down his opponent, Scotty went for an armbar submission, but Mistico countered it with an eye gouge... giving him just enough time to tag into Chavo. For good measure, Psicosis entered the ring and helped Mistico to the outside, by throwing him through the ropes! Scotty quickly recovered from the cheap shot and hit Chavo with a back suplex. Chavo reversed a whip into the ropes, but Scotty still connected with a rana for only a two-count!

Scotty then connected with an elbowsmash, followed by a superkick AND a bulldog! The crowd was loving this series of action! With Chavo down on the canvas, Scotty hit The Worm out of nowhere... but still only got a two-count, as Chavo was able to get his foot in the ropes. Scotty tried to put Guerrero away with a leaping swinging DDT, but Chavo was able to get his shoulder up! Psicosis entered the ring, trying to help Scotty out, hitting Chavo with a double fist to the midsection, followed by a double clothesline... and then a double back suplex! Mistico, irate by what he saw, tried to enter the ring, but Brian Hebner forced him back outside.

Psicosis connected with a dropkick followed by a German suplex by Scotty. Chavo was able to kick out just barely before the three-count. Scotty and Psicosis hit Chavo with a double chop followed by a quick dropkick by the champ. Scotty then went for yet another enzuigiri but Chavo was able to duck out of the way! With a burst of energy, Chavo hit Scotty with a flying cross body press... for a two-count. Chavo ran into the ropes, dodged a shoulderblock from the champ, missed a clothesline of his own before Scotty placed him on the turnbuckle and connected with a HUGE superplex! Somehow, though, Chavo found enough energy to reverse a side suplex into a spinning headscissors!

Chavo locks in a standing wristlock, but Scotty reaches the ropes after five seconds. Quickly after that, Chavo connects with a flying forearm... but only for a two-count! Frustrated, Chavo kicks Scotty in the midsection and connects with a brain buster as the crowd boos him, very loudly. To make matters worse, Mistico then enters the ring, but Psicosis is there to take him out! Psicosis then hits a spinning leg lariat on Chavo giving Scotty enough time to recover. When he does, he hits Chavo with a back suplex as Psicosis leaves the ring. Scotty then whips Chavo into the ropes, but Chavo connects with an elbow, followed by a chop. Chavo goes for a spinning leg lariat of his own, but Chavo ducks out of the way...

Psicosis enters the ring as he and Scotty hit Chavo with a double chop. Psicosis then connects with a spinning leg lariat, followed by yet another enzuigiri by Scotty. They then send Chavo into the ropes and take him down with a double clothesline before Psicosis leaves the ring. Scotty his Chavo with an elbowdrop and then connects with The Worm for the one-two-three! The crowd chants for Scotty as the bell rings.

Psicosis & Scotty 2 Hotty defeated Chavo Guerrero & Mistico when Scotty pinned Chavo with The Worm in 12:28.
Rating: ***

Psicosis and Scotty 2 Hotty worked great as a team in this match... even though they will be facing each other in just over a week for the Cruiserweight Title @ WrestleMania. Guerrero and Mistico looked good at times, but their lack of cohesiveness led to their downfall.

La Resistance makes their way out to the ring with an open challenge request. Rob Conway says that he and Sylvan have reformed one of the greatest tag teams to ever come out of Quebec, and that tonight, they are going to show their skills against any team in the back that wants a fight. Sylvan gets on the microphone and tells The Teacher's Pets to pay close attention to this match, because it's going to be an example of what happens when the two teams finally step into the ring. The WWE Tag Team Champions - Paul London and Brian Kendrick - quickly answer the challenge, saying they had nothing better to do tonight.

(3) La Resistance (Sylvan & Rob Conway) vs. © Paul London & Brian Kendrick (non-title match)

This match was a hard-fought battle as La Resistance was out to prove their worth in the tag team division, and the WWE Tag Team Champions were out to show that they will accept any challenge brought before them. There were plenty of double-teams throughout this match, and referee Rudy Charles had a hard time keeping everything under control. At the end of the match, a lapse of judgment gave the champions an unordinary loss.

La Resistance (Rob Conway & Sylvan) defeated Paul London & Brian Kendrick when R. Conway pinned P. London with the Ego Trip in 18:56.

In the back, King Booker tells Josh Matthews that tonight is the night he gets what is rightfully his: a spot in the Golden Opportunity match at WrestleMania. Queen Sharmell tells Josh that Booker T is the King of Smackdown... and that the only thing that goes well with royalty is gold. Booker then says that tonight, he is going to make Elijah Burke one of his many servants on his path to any title match of his choosing.

(4) Elijah Burke vs. King Booker (w/Queen Sharmell) ["Golden Opportunity" Qualifier]

The self-proclaimed "King of Smackdown" and Elijah Burke - both of whom had not seen much ring time in the last few weeks - found themselves in a position to propel their careers in a very quick fashion. This match was nothing more but a battle of toughness of both men stayed away from mat wrestling. However, King Booker had something up his sleeve as Idol Stevens came down to the ring on his behalf! This shocked a lot of people, noticeably KC James who, with Stevens, had just reformed the Teacher's Pets tag team. However, Stevens was critical in this match... even stepping into the ring to break up a submission hold by Burke! This caught Elijah off guard as Booker was able to score the victory and earn himself a place in WrestleMania.

Smackdown starts off with a video message from Batista, who says that what happened last week in his match against The Undertaker was a complete accident. He says that his neck injury could've happen to anyone, and that Tatanka and William Regal should be lucky it happened to him. He says that, if it hadn't, the United States title would be his. Batista says that next week, he is going to show - once again - how dominating he really is.

(1) Shannon Moore vs. Jamie Noble

A showcase of two high-fliers, this match lasted for longer than anyone expected. Noble and Moore fought back and forth, hoping to gain an edge for themselves, but to no avail. The end of the match saw Moore attempt a flying crossbody to the outside of the ring, which Noble ducked, knocking Moore unconscious.

Jamie Noble defeated Shannon Moore by countout in 12:38.

Backstage, King Booker and Queen Sharmell speak to Idol Stevens about his involvement last week. Booker says that he's grateful for Stevens' actions; helping him get into WrestleMania. Booker then pulls out a wad of one-hundred dollar bills and hands it to Stevens. Stevens eyes the money and quickly puts it in his pocket, looking around the area in hopes that no one saw the transaction. Booker says that for Stevens' help, Booker will have his back whenever he needs it. Stevens thanks Booker as he and Sharmell walk away. As they leave, Stevens is confronted by his tag partner, KC James. James asks what the hell is going on, and why Stevens was interfering in King Booker's match last week... when they have a tag team title match coming up this Sunday at WrestleMania. Stevens tells James that it's no big deal, and not to worry about it. He says that the tag team titles are the first thing on his mind. Stevens walks away, with a sly smile on his face as James looks on.

Coming back from the break, Teddy Long was in his office with an announcement. He tells the Grand Rapids crowd that tonight, they will witness the final "Golden Opportunity" qualifying match. He announces that the participants are Rob Conway, Carlito from RAW and Little Guido from ECW. He says that the match will take place later tonight.

(2) John "Bradshaw" Layfield vs. Idol Stevens (w/Michelle McCool)

JBL came into this match, coming off a disappointing loss in his qualifying match Tuesday night on "ECW on Sci Fi". He was coming in focused, with something to prove. Idol Stevens, on the other hand, was coming into the contest having just been paid for his actions last week - helping King Booker get his spot at WrestleMania. Towards the beginning of the match, Bradshaw was busted open from a shot into the ring post, and his cut only got worse as the match continued. The luck couldn't turn in JBL's favor as, on two separate occasions, Michelle McCool was caught tripping him, but the referee refused to call a DQ. At the end of the match, Elijah Burke came down to the ring an exacted a sort of payback on Stevens, tripping him. This only infuriated JBL as he was given the loss. Burke watched on from the aisle as JBL picked up Stevens and connected with the Clothesline From Hell, much to the disapproval of the crowd. Afterwards, JBL had some choice words for Burke who walked away from the ring, smiling.

Idol Stevens defeated John "Bradshaw" Layfield by disqualification in 7:21.

William Regal is interviewed by Kristal Marshall, backstage. He's asked about the statements made by Batista at the beginning of the program. Regal says that he can't trust a thing that "The Animal" says, because he knows that Batista has resentment towards The Undertaker for injuring him, last week. Regal says that Batista's promise of coming back after WrestleMania and claiming to be more of a force is a lie, because even before his injury, Batista was not much of a force... either to the United States Champion, or anyone else. Regal says that the only promise that everyone can be assured of is the one that Regal will walk out of Detroit on Sunday night as the United States Champion.

(3) "Golden Opportunity" Qualifier: Rob Conway vs. Carlito vs. Little Guido (w/ Big Guido & Trinity)

The final match, to determine the sixth and final spot in the "Golden Opportunity" battle royal this Sunday night, was between two men who felt they were being underused, and a third - Guido - who just two weeks earlier, lost his shot at the ECW World Title in a cage match against Al Snow. These three fought hard to earn the final spot... but in a huge surprise to the crowd, Al Snow appeared at ringside, tripping Little Guido during the match! However, referee Nick Patrick allowed the match to continue... for a while. After interference from Trinity on behalf of Little Guido, the referee had seen enough and called the match. The three men were left stunned, in the center of the ring.

Backstage, Idol Stevens and Michelle McCool are headed back to their locker room, when he is attacked by Elijah Burke. Burke slams Stevens against the interior wall of the hallway before grabbing him by the hair and challenging him to a match, later in the show. From behind, King Booker attacks Burke, sending him crashing into the wall, as well. King Booker stands over Burke and says that he will accept the challenge for Idol Stevens, saying that he's already beaten Burke once... and that he'll do it again, later tonight.

In his office, Teddy Long makes an announcement that, later tonight, World Heavyweight Champion, The Undertaker will be in action against Ken Kennedy. Long says that the match will be a non-title match in the main event.

(4) Elijah Burke vs. King Booker (w/ Queen Sharmell)

King Booker was set to face Elijah Burke in an impromptu match that was made after Booker accepted the challenge originally given to Idol Stevens. Instead, King Booker found himself face-to-face with Ace Steel - a newcomer, just signed to the WWE - as Elijah Burke was unable to perform. Booker took this opportunity to teach a lesson to the newbie, and to also send a message to Burke. He dominated the entire match, which lasted less then 30 seconds, and ended promptly with a Book End for the three-count.

King Booker pinned Ace Steel after the Book End in 0:21.

In a backstage statement, Daivari says that The Undertaker's days as World Heavyweight Champion are severely numbered... down to three days, exactly. He says that The Great Khali will, at WrestleMania, become the most dominate champion this business has ever seen. He tells the Grand Rapids crowd that The Undertaker may be known as "The Deadman", but this Sunday, The Great Khali will do something no one has been able to do: make The Undertaker rest in peace.

Also backstage, King Booker and Queen Sharmell are heading back to their locker room, when they are confronted fronted by KC James. James demands to know why Idol Stevens was at ringside last week, helping Booker get a spot at WrestleMania. Booker says that he doesn't know Idol's answer and that the best way to find out would be to check with James' partner, himself. King Booker and Queen Sharmell walk away, offering no other explanation.

(5) Ken Kennedy vs. © The Undertaker (non-title match)

The Undertaker used this match more as a tune up then an actual wrestling match, taking everything that Kennedy had to offer, but giving back everything and more to his opponent. The match was evenly matches until the end, when 'Taker brought everything he had and picked up a huge, decisive victory leading up to WrestleMania on Sunday night.

A video clip highlighting the World Heavyweight Title match at WrestleMania is shown at the beginning of the program. Various photo clips are shown from the battle between The Undertaker and The Great Khali. The final image is of Khali holding the World Heavyweight Title and Michael Cole asking whether or not Smackdown is ready for a "Punjabi Giant" champion.

General Manager, Theodore Long comes out to start the show, announcing that tonight, there will be two title matches taking place. The reasoning behind these title matches is: one of the matches ended in a count-out, and the second was not part of the card Sunday, at WrestleMania. Long says that Scotty 2 Hotty will defend the Cruiserweight Title against new Smackdown signee, Danny Doring... where as the WWE Tag Team Titles will be on the line as Paul London and Brian Kendrick defend against former ECW members, The Full-Blooded Italians.

In the back, Josh Matthews talks with a translator and the new World Heavyweight Champion, The Great Khali. Khali speaks in unintelligibly before the translator tells Matthews what the champion meant. The translator says that Khali - Sunday night at WrestleMania - put The Undertaker to rest, and that Khali is going to be the greatest champion Smackdown will ever see.

(1) Bradley Jay vs. Finlay (w/ Little Bastard)

Bradley Jay made his first appearance on Smackdown this week, facing a man who has gone winless since resigning with the brand a couple months ago. The newcomer caught the upper hand in the early going of the match with an Achilles hold. But, the veteran wouldn't let that slow him down as he threw Jay to the outside where Little Bastard put himself into the match. That was the opening Finlay needed to pick up the victory... his first in five matches!

Backstage, Cruiserweight Champion, Scotty 2 Hotty tells Kristal Marshall that his countout loss to Psicosis at WrestleMania on Sunday was not something he's proud of. He and Psicosis went out there to give the fans what they wanted to see: a high-flying, fast-paced match... and they didn't deliver. He says that tonight, against Danny Doring, he is going to give fans what he meant to give them last Sunday night... a match they will remember.

Also, in the back, Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke speak with Josh Matthews. Mamaluke says that he and Little Guido were meant to be moved away from Vince McMahon's regime over the ECW brand; he says it was horrible and he couldn't be happier as a part of Smackdown. Little Guido adds that, while with ECW, he had his chance to win the ECW World Title. But, with the stack constantly being stacked against him, he had no other choice but to sign with either RAW or Smackdown... and seeing that Mamaluke had signed with the Smackdown brand, the choice was a no-brainer. Guido says that, for their decision to come to Smackdown, they are getting rewarded with a Tag Team Title match, tonight. Mamaluke says that London and Kendrick may be the most-beloved of the two teams, but they're the F.B.I... and they always get what they want.

(2) Christopher W. Anderson vs. Viscera

There was a lot of controversy surrounding the outcome of this match, as earlier on, it was clear that Nick Patrick had reach the end of his 10-count with both men outside of the ring... which would have resulted in a Double Countout decision. However, Patrick let the match continue past the 20-minute time limit, until Viscera connected with the Sex Drive for the victory.

Viscera pinned Christopher W. Anderson with the Sex Drive in 20:35.

Booker T confronts Theodore Long backstage, wanting to know who the number one contender is for The Great Khali and the World Heavyweight Title. Booker says that he should be the number one contender, because he was the last person eliminated from the "Golden Opportunity" match at WrestleMania... and he was the only person from Smackdown in the match! Long tells Booker that he will have to think things over before he makes his decision... but, tells him tonight, Booker will be facing United States Champion, William Regal in a non-title match.

(3) Danny Doring vs. © Scotty 2 Hotty (Cruiserweight Title Match)

The Cruiserweight Title was on the line just five days after Scotty 2 Hotty lost by count out at WrestleMania. So, the champ was coming into this match, looking for some retribution from his disappointing loss. What he found, was an opponent he had never faced in "Dastardly" Danny Doring. Doring and the champ had a quick-paced match that saw a double pin before Doring was able to kick out. The end of the match saw Doring connect with a legsweep faceslam for the surprise victory!

United States Champion, William Regal tells Josh Matthews that WrestleMania was a huge surprise to the people in Detroit, but it wasn't a surprise to him. He knew that Batista had something up his sleeve, because Regal believes that Batista is an idiot, who's only thinking about winning the U.S. Title, and not knowing what his condition would do to him. But, Regal says that Batista made his decision to attack Tatanka backstage, and make his way down to the ring... and he got nothing for it. Regal says that Batista ruined his own chance of becoming champion by making the mistake he made at WrestleMania.

(4) The F.B.I (Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke) vs. © Paul London & Brian Kendrick (WWE Tag Team Title Match)

The Full Blooded Italians got their first shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles tonight, in their firs match on Smackdown. London and Kendrick came into this match, having not wrestled at WrestleMania, which gave them an added few days of rest. Mamaluke was in the five-man battle royal last Sunday night... which gave his side a slight disadvantage. However, the F.B.I came in giving the champions a fight they weren't expecting, and on many occasions, could feel the titles in their grasps, only to be brought back to reality. The match went longer then the 20-minute time limit, which gave the rested champions what the needed: two tired opponents and a chance to retain. And, that's exactly what they did... after hitting the Get Well Soon and getting the three count.

In the back, Theodore Long confronts Booker T, telling him that he has come up with a decision... however, it's not about the World Heavyweight Title. Long says he knows that Booker wants to get into the ring, tonight. So, what he has done is, set up a match between Booker T and the United States Champion, William Regal... in a non-title match. Long says that's the best he can do for tonight... and that he may have an answer for Booker next week.

This impromptu match was cut short as World Heavyweight Champion, The Great Khali came to ringside and made his presence known, tripping King Booker and pulling him to the outside. As Regal looked on from the ring, Khali whipped Booker into the steel ring post which opened up a small gash over his left eye. As Booker began to bleed, Khali picked him up and brought him over to the ring announce table, where the Champion hoisted Booker up with a Tree Slam, and sent him crashing through the announce table! Khali grabs the World Title and stands over Booker, holding the belt into the air as Smackdown goes off the air.

Friday Night Smackdown!
April 13, 2007
Dunkin' Donuts Center
Providence, Rhode Island

King Booker and Queen Sharmell come out to the ring to start off the program. Booker is shown with a bandage on his forehead from his attack last week by the Great Khali. Booker demands that Khali come out and face him like a man, saying that so far Khali has only acted as a coward. There is silence for a while as the crowd begins to boo. Finally, after a few minutes, Theodore Long's music hits as the General Manager makes an appearance. Long tells Booker that he has made sure that Khali does not enter the arena, by giving him the night off. Long says that he is also giving Booker a match later tonight, against Scotty 2 Hotty. Long finishes up by saying that at Backlash, King Booker will get his shot at The Great Khali and the World Heavyweight Title.

(1) Shannon Moore vs. Christopher W. Anderson

Two North Carolinians started off the show as "The Reject" took on the self-proclaimed long-lost Anderson. C.W. gave Shannon a pounding until the very end of the match, when Moore connected with a flying forearm for the surprise upset. Dazed, but not battered, C.W. Anderson attacked Shannon Moore after the bell, giving him a devastating piledriver in the center of the ring.

Shannon Moore pinned Christopher W. Anderson after a flying forearm in 3:52.

Backstage, King Booker is asked his thoughts on The Great Khali being given the night off. He tells Kristal that not having Khali in the arena is probably the best thing Theodore Long could do, tonight. Booker says that he has no idea what he'd do if Khali was here... but, since he isn't, Booker plans on taking out all of his aggression on Scotty 2 Hotty. He tells Kristal that he has nothing against the former Cruiserweight Champion, but those were the cards they were both dealt.

Also backstage, Little Guido tells the crowd that even though he and Tony Mamaluke didn't win the Tag Team titles last week... that their chances of winning gold haven't gone away. He says that, last week, Danny Doring - another former ECW Original - beat Scotty 2 Hotty to win the Cruiserweight Title; but that's only the beginning. Guido says that, he's next in line for a shot at Doring and that he'll be the one to say when he gets his shot. Until then, he says, Tony Mamaluke will give the Cruiserweight Champion a preview of what's in store... whenever the time comes.

[hr]

Coming back from the break, United States Champion William Regal is standing in the ring. He tells the crowd that is going to be champion for quite some time... as there is no competition left for him. He says that Batista and Tatanka were the only two people he remotely had to deal with, and neither of them could beat him. Regal says that the only way he would consider putting the title on the line, is if someone respectable enough demanded a match. This brings out The Big Show, who comes down to the ring and tells Regal that the champ could add Show's name to the list of competition for the U.S. Title. Big Show tells Regal that if the champ had the guts, he'll put the title on the line at Backlash. Show leaves the ring, leaving Regal in shock.

Backstage, Cruiserweight Champion, Danny Doring comments on what Little Guido said earlier in the show. He says that, if anyone is going to decide when or where the Cruiserweight title is put on the line... it's going to be him, NOT Little Guido. Doring says that he and Little Guido had their differences in the old days of ECW, and if Guido wants to start things over, he has no problems with it.

(2) Rob Conway vs. Viscera

Smackdown was paid a visit by Roughhouse O'Reilly tonight, during this match, surprising those in attendance. O'Reilly made a quick line under the ring, retrieving a baseball bat that he was trying to throw to Viscera, but Conway picked it off and connected with a shot to the bat... but couldn't put "Big Vis" away. After seeing that his attempted failed, O'Reilly quickly made his way backstage for the reminder of the match. The shot to the back made Viscera very angry, and it was difficult for Conway to retain any advantage as Viscera hit the Sex Drive for the win.

Viscera pinned Rob Conway with the Sex Drive in 16:51.

In the back, after the commercials, The Great Khali is seen entering the arena, and is stopped by Theodore Long who demands that Khali get out. Long says that he had given Khali the night off for a reason, and the champ is defying those rules. Khali grabs Long by the collar of his jacket and hits him with a tomahawk chop across the top of the head. Khali begins to scream in Punjabi as he walks away.

(3) © Danny Doring vs. Tony Mamaluke (w/Big Guido & Trinity) (non-title match)

Danny Doring had his first match after winning the Cruiserweight Title last week, in his first appearance on Friday Night Smackdown. However, in his first non-title match, he took on not only Tony Mamaluke, but also Big Guido and Trinity... and Little Guido, who made his presence felt at the end of the match, attacking the champion outside the ring as Mamaluke distracted the referee, leading to a countout loss. After the match, the F.B.I celebrated in the ring.

Backstage, The Big Show is interviewed by Josh Matthews. Show says that he has nothing else to say to William Regal, other then what he already said earlier tonight. From behind, William Regal chop-blocks The Big Show, sending him down to his knees in pain. Regal stands up, smiling and tells Josh that he obviously isn't afraid of The Big Show, thus accepting the challenge for Backlash.

(4) Scott 2 Hotty vs. King Booker (w/Queen Sharmell)

Scott 2 Hotty found himself in his first Smackdown main event, taking on a man who was coming into this match, wanting to send a message. However, King Booker had more to contend with then just his opponent, tonight. The Great Khali, who had earlier attacked Theodore Long, came to ringside to make things more interesting. However, King Booker was able to fight off Khali for the better part of the match. At the end, however, both King Booker and Scotty lost track of the 10-count, outside the ring, and fell victim to a double countout! After the match, Khali went to attack King Booker from behind, but was stopped by the referee. Then Theodore Long came out to the stage, holding the top of his head. He looked to still be dazed from the earlier assault. Long tells the crowd that next week, Scott 2 Hotty and King Booker will have a rematch... in a no-countout match. He then says that The Great Khali will be banned from the arena, next week... and if he shows up at any point during the show, he will be stripped of the World Heavyweight Title immediately!

Friday Night Smackdown!
April 20, 2007
Datchforum
Milan, Italy

The show began with a recap of the events that took place last week, involving King Booker and The Great Khali. During his match with Scotty 2 Hotty, King Booker was forced to keep eyes in the back of his head, looking for any sign of an attack from the World Heavyweight Champion. Khali did make his way down to the ring, after attacking Theodore Long backstage, but King Booker sensed it was coming and was able to fight off the Punjabi Giant. It was announced, after the main event, that The Great Khali would be banned from the arena this week in Milan, and that if he showed up in any way, Long would strip of him the title, immediately!

(1) Shannon Moore vs. Rob Conway

Two men from Smackdown that will be traveling to Atlanta on Sunday for Backlash, started off the evening in fine fashion! Shannon Moore was able to pick up a pivotal victory as he gets set to face Christopher W. Anderson. Rob Conway had a set back as he has the on-going battle between Roughhouse O'Reilly and Chris Masters this Sunday. Moore hit the Mooregasm for the win.

Shannon Moore pinned Rob Conway with the Mooregasm in 10:17.

After the match, Christopher W. Anderson was asked what made him attack Shannon Moore after their match last week. Anderson told Josh Matthews that he is part of one of professional wrestling's most famous families. He said that, having the match in his hands and then having it taken away from him, was one of the most embarrassing moments of his life. Anderson said that he attacked Moore out of necessity for his reputation then anything else; and that he wanted to keep the Anderson name in good graces within the industry. He finished the interview by saying, at Backlash, he will make an example of Shannon Moore... proving that no one can stop an Anderson.

Theodore Long was seen, standing in the center of the ring, as the show returned from commercials. He says that there have been a lot of rumors going around backstage, about his ability to keep everyone under control in the Smackdown locker room. He says that a lot of the rumors surround his treatment of The Great Khali and the apparent "freedom" that the World Heavyweight Champion has on the program. Long says that could not have been more serious when he said he would strip Khali of the World Heavyweight Title if he showed his faced in London, tonight. This brings out King Booker and Queen Sharmell. King Booker asks Long what's going to happen if, for some reason, Khali shows up during the reminder of the show. Long seemed to not be expecting this question as he tells Booker that he has an idea, but isn't going to announce it at the moment. Long says that he wants to just sit back and wait, and if Khali shows up tonight, he will make the announcement at that time. Long then leaves the ring, leaving Booker and Sharmell in the ring.

Backstage, Cruiserweight Champion Danny Doring tells Kristal Marshall that he is OK with the fact that the F.B.I attacked him last week. He says that they're making it very clear... they want to wear him down so they can make it easier for Little Guido to win the title. He promises that, no matter what the F.B.I does, Doring won't lose the title. He compares last week to the old days of the former ECW, where he would back down from no challenge. Doring says that he still has the old ECW running through his blood, and that if Little Guido wants to challenge him for the title, he has to go about it the "right" way.

(2) Batista vs. Finlay (w/Little Bastard)

Batista made is return to the ring after his lackluster performance at WrestleMania, taking on Finlay tonight. These two big men gave it their all in a match that, surprisingly, the crowd wasn't very into. However, that didn't stop either men from using their full arsenal. Batista hit the Spear and the Batista Bomb for the victory.

Batista pinned Finlay with the Batista Bomb in 15:33.

After the match, Shannon Moore is seen watching the events on a monitor in the back. Kristal Marshall confronts him, asking his opinions on what C.W. Anderson said earlier in the show. Moore says that he is impressed by his victory tonight, but that if Anderson wants to send a message to him, he'll have to do it another way. Commenting on the comments from earlier, Moore says that he grew up in North Carolina and was a huge fan of the Andersons as a child. He says that, watching them every weekend for as long as he could remember, was what got him interested in becoming a part of this business. Moore says it was an honor to have wrestled C.W. Anderson last week, because of the heritage of his family's name. But, he says that it was a total surprise when someone related to a group that Moore had looked up to when he was younger, decided to attack him for no apparent reason. He then says that, again, it was an honor to have beaten C.W. Anderson last week, but that the feeling will be even greater when it happens again, at Backlash.

Backstage, in the parking lot of the arena, Theodore Long is seen standing alone in the dark. United States Champion, William Regal confronts him, asking why he wasn't in his office. Long tells Regal that he's busy and to make it quick. Regal says that he wants a match later tonight, so that he can get ready to face The Big Show next Sunday at Backlash. Long, who seems to be keeping an eye on the entrance to the parking lot, tells Regal that he can have his match... against Paul London, later tonight. Regal stands behind Long smiling before walking away.

(4)  Jazz vs. Trinity

The resident Divas of Smackdown faced-off tonight in match that was as brutal as it was beautiful. The crowd was really into this match, mostly because of the attire the two Divas chose to wear to the ring. No matter, as the match was full of action. Trinity pulled out the victory with the Fall From Grace.

Trinity pinned Jazz with the Fall From Grace in 12:22.

Backstage, Little Guido tells Josh Matthews that he doesn't need the F.B.I to do his dirty work for him... like Danny Doring said was true. Gudio says that he finds it a little comical that Doring is requiring him to demand a title shot in the "right way", but says if that's the case, then he is officially requesting a match for the Cruiserweight Title next week. He says that, to make things more interesting... and to show that he doesn't need the other members of the F.B.I behind him, Little Guido will request that Big Guido and Trinity stay backstage.

(5) Paul London vs. © William Regal (non-title match)

William Regal got his wish as he faced off against Paul London tonight, in a set-up match for The Big Show, next Sunday, at Backlash. London gave everything he had against the United States Champion, but none of it was successful. London's failure to get the upper hand cost him the match as his temper caused him to attack the referee.

Friday Night Smackdown!
April 27, 2007
Earl's Court
London, England

King Booker starts off the program, coming out to the ring in a suit and tie. The crowd cheers him as he enters the ring and grabs a microphone. He paces around the room, taking his time before he speaks. When he does begin to talk, King Booker says that last week in Milan, was the worst day of his life. He says that he was forced to stand around and wait - all night long - to see if The Great Khali would show up. Booker says that he was surprised that Khali didn't actually show. He says that's good, because at Backlash, he plans on giving The Great Khali everything he's got in hopes of winning the World Heavyweight Title. The crowd cheers this statement as Booker walks around the ring...

The Great Khali's music begins to play as the World Heavyweight Champion emerges from backstage, with the title over his shoulder, dressed in his wrestling attire. Khali enters the ring and stands in the center of the ring, hovering over his opponent. He begins to speak, loudly, in Punjabi, causing the crowd to boo and Booker to stare at him awkwardly. After Khali finishes speaking, he glares at Booker as the jeers get louder throughout the arena...

Both men's attention is grabbed as Theodore Long walks on-stage, in a pressed suit and a microphone in hand. Long says that he, too, was surprised that Khali played by the rules last week, but was happy to see that he respects the World Title enough to keep his personal issues with Booker separate. Long says that the personal issues between them will resolved this Sunday at Backlash... but tonight, they will be facing each other in tag team action. This grabs the crowd's attention as they begin to murmur amongst themselves. Long announces that, in tonight's main event, King Booker will team up with The Big Show to take on The Great Khali and the United States Champion, William Regal. Long wishes the London crowd a good evening and leaves the stage as Booker and Khali stare at the empty ramp.

COMMERCIALS

(1) Bradley Jay vs. Paul London

Paul London was looking to get on the winning track after his loss to William Regal last week. However, the newcomer had something else in mind as he put the Tag Team champion away with a powerslam.

Bradley Jay pinned Paul London after a powerslam in 5:25.

Backstage, after the match, Roughhouse O'Reilly is asked by Josh Matthews about his decision to sign with Smackdown. O'Reilly says that if Matthews had been paying attention Monday, he would've gotten his answer. He says, besides the reasoning he's already given, he signed with Smackdown because he had to sign with one of three brands in order to take part in Backlash this Sunday night. He says that, Monday night on Raw, he came within moments of beating WWE Champion Randy Orton... but he didn't want to embarrass the champ before his title defense against Elijah Burke. O'Reilly says that, as easy as a snap of a finger, he could become the World Heavyweight Champion... but the only thing holding him back is the fact that he has a point to prove against Rob Conway and Chris Masters.

Out of nowhere, Rob Conway attacks O'Reilly from behind, causing the crowd to cheer in unison. O'Reilly fights his way back to his feet, but is met with a vicious knee to the midsection by Conway; who proceeds to throw O'Reilly into the steel loading door. While O'Reilly lays on the floor, holding his head, Conway tells him that at Backlash, O'Reilly has no chance against the "Model of Excellence" and "The Masterpiece".

Little Guido is then seen, walking towards the stage where he is confronted by Tony Mamaluke, who wonders if banning Trinity and Big Guido from ringside is a good idea. Little Guido says that he's thought things out, and the only way that he has a chance of winning the Cruiserweight title is if there's no distractions. He says that, in the past, both Trinity and Big Guido have been known to interfere in big matches: both for himself and Mamaluke. Guido says he means no disrespect for either of the F.B.I members, and says that they will all agree when he walks backstage with the title around his waist. Mamaluke says he hopes Guido made the right decision and walks away.

(2) Little Guido vs. © Danny Doring [WWE Cruiserweight Title Match]

Little Guido took matters into his own hands tonight, but almost cost himself the Cruiserweight title with his aggression. This match was filled with excitement as, midway through the match, there was a chance that the London crowd would see a double-countout. However, both men found their way back into the ring. Danny Doring had a close call after hitting the Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am... but only getting a two-count. Frustrated that he couldn't put Guido away, Doring's thinking became askew and he fell victim to the Arrivederci as Guido picked up the victory.

Backstage, Christopher W. Anderson is asked his thoughts on what Shannon Moore had to say last week. Anderson says he is surprised by the fact that Moore was a fan of his, growing up, seeing as how the Andersons have been notorious for their lack of respect for authority and other people in charge. He says that he's glad his family was able to peak his interest in wrestling, because Sunday at Backlash, C.W. would be the one to take Shannon Moore out of wrestling. Anderson wonders what Moore meant when he said that he wanted to be impressed by Anderson. He says that, if a nine second victory isn't impressive enough... then tonight, he would have to find another way to get into Moore's head.

As Anderson leaves, he walks past United States Champion, William Regal. Regal is then stopped by Kristal who wants to know how he feels about teaming with The Great Khali. Regal says that he's no stranger to teaming with the World Heavyweight Champion, as they were partners a few weeks ago. However, Regal says that now, they are both champions... so he believes that will help them tonight. He says that, by being champions, they are the best... and by having two of the best on Smackdown team up, he and Khali will be unstoppable.

(3) Shannon Moore vs. Tony Mamaluke

Shannon Moore kept his winning streak with a victory over Mamaluke tonight, but the win was tainted as Christopher W. Anderson made his presence felt by hitting Moore in the back with a steel chair. However, he wasn't finished when the bell rang. Anderson entered the ring and continued to assault Moore with the steel chair, bending it over "The Reject's" back. Anderson threw the chair down and stood over his victim, asking Moore if he was impressed now. Referee Tim White came over and demanded that Anderson leave the ring as White tended to Moore. Anderson left the ring with a sadistic smile on his face; the jeers of the crowd surrounding him.

Coming back from commercials, King Booker confronts Theodore Long in the general manager's office. Booker says he just wants to make sure what the title picture looks like heading into Backlash. Long tells Booker that, due to the stipulations that they both agreed on last week, the match at Backlash was still signed and would take place on Sunday. Booker had a look of despair on his face as The Big Show walks into the office and tells him that he won't win the World Heavyweight Title if he doesn't stop worrying about Khali. Big Show says that, it's inevitable that Booker and Khali are going to face each other Sunday night. But, he says that Booker could use the tag team match tonight as a way to study the champion before Backlash. Booker tells Show that that's a great idea and wonders why he didn't think of it himself. Show tells him that he didn't think of it, because he's not thinking like a number one contender to the biggest title on Smackdown; rather, he's thinking like someone who's scared of what's been put in front of him. Booker tells Show that he's not scared of anything, and proclaims that he is going to win the World Heavyweight Title this Sunday night at Backlash.

(4) Christopher W. Anderson vs. Batista

After sending a vicious message to Shannon Moore earlier in the show with a steel chair, C.W. Anderson took on "The Animal". The show begins with a recap of the Smackdown brand matches from Backlash. After the recap and pyrotechnic entrance, Theodore Long makes his way to the ring in a suit. Long says that he was very pleased with the way things went down at Backlash. He says there was a lot of good that came out of Atlanta, Sunday night... but there was also some bad. Long reminds the crowd that, Sunday night, The Big Show was scheduled to take on William Regal for the United States Championship. Long says that, for whatever reason, Regal decided to no-show a title defense... which is place for a suspension and vacation of the title. Long says that William Regal will be up for reinstatement on May 30 - giving him a one-month suspension. Long also says that since the title was vacated Sunday night at Backlash, he doesn't want to wait to find a suitable replacement for William Regal. Therefore, he has made a Triple Threat Match for later in the program to determine who will be the next United States Champion. The three competitors will be: King Booker, Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke. Long mentions that the Cruiserweight Title, held by Little Guido, will NOT be on the line in this match. Long says he knows that The Big Show should be in the Triple Threat Match, but he wants to give him a tougher challenge. Therefore, Long announces that on Sunday, May 20, at Judgment Day, The Big Show will take on The Great Khali for the World Heavyweight Title.

Sylvan stands silent for a moment, thinking over the proposition.

(1) Matt Hardy vs. Viscera

Matt Hardy and Viscera put on a good first match of the evening. The crowd was cheering on both men, so it was hard to tell who the favorite was. Moore is then confronted by Arn Anderson, who says he was impressed by Moore's victory over C.W. on Sunday night. But, he tells Moore not to think that C.W. is finished. Arn says Sunday night, the Anderson name was given a black mark... losing to someone like Shannon Moore. Arn says that with his help, C.W. Anderson is going to erase that black mark and make sure it never happens again.

King Booker is then shown, with Queen Sharmell at his side, speaking with Josh Matthews. King Booker says that Sunday night he had a chance to win the World Heavyweight Title at Backlash. He says that The Great Khali was an awesome opponent, and that the match took a lot out of Booker. Unfortunately, he says, he wasn't able to walk out of Atlanta as with the title around his waist. However, he was pleasantly surprised to hear that Theodore Long included his name in the Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship. Booker says he may be the "king of Smackdown"... but, to fully stake claim to that name, a king must have gold. Booker says that tonight, even though the odds are against him - facing both members of the F.B.I - he will give 100 percent effort to make sure he leaves tonight as the U.S. Champion.

Backstage, Kristal Marshall is with the Big Show, where she asks him his opinion on what took place at Backlash Sunday night, and about the announcement that Theodore Long made earlier tonight. The Big Show tells Kristal that Sunday night, William Regal made his true feelings clear - that he was afraid to get into the ring with The Big Show, one on one - and that, because of it he no longer has a job. Show says that he doesn't know who to root for in the United States Championship Match, but says that King Booker will have his hands full. About becoming #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Show says that it wasn't something he asked for, nor was expecting. He says that he's very happy with the decision made by Theodore Long and says that he's going to prove that he deserves the compensation that was given to him. Show says that The Great Khali has been a dominate champion since winning the title at WrestleMania, but he hasn't stepped into the ring with a giant, yet. Show says, at Judgment Day, it's going to be a battle and the best big man will walk out of St. Louis as the World Heavyweight Champion.

Mamaluke tells Guido that he's already won himself a title, and that the F.B.I would be an even greater force if Mamaluke could walk away with the U.S. Title, tonight. Mamaluke asks for Guido's help, who says that he will give it to him. At the beginning of the match, it looked as if neither one of them wanted to be in the ring at the same time, resorting to tagging Booker into the match. However, as the match wore on, both Mamaluke and Guido found each other to be nothing but obstacles in each other's way to the United States Title. King Booker entered the ring and began to inflict damage to both men... and it showed that the beatings were wearing down on the F.B.I's concentration as Mamaluke was disqualified after the referee saw outside interference from Big Guido and Trinity. Just minutes later, Guido was eliminated as his temper got the better of him, and he threw Earl Hebner outside the ring! Thus, King Booker was awarded the United States Title.

[United States Title; Triple Threat Match]:

your write ups are real visual...that's good. makes for a better read. is psicosis still on your roster? i was happy to see him in there at the beginning.
wicked_rexPosted on 07/14/07 at 10:07:22

Thanks for the comments. Surprising to see it on the Smackdown thread, but that's awesome! Psicosis actually didn't sign a new contract after WrestleMania, so I haven't used him since then.

Backstage, Daivari is seen entering the arena from the back, followed by The Great Khali, who's carrying the World Heavyweight Title over his shoulder. JBL says that The Big Show won't get off as easy as he thought tonight... but Michael Cole says he thinks The Big Show isn't going to be too concerned about it. Khali and Daivari walk away as Smackdown goes to commercials.

When Smackdown returns, The Great Khali's music begins to play as the World Heavyweight Champion makes his way to the ring, followed by Daivari. The crowd lets them know what they think as the champion enters the ring. Daivari grabs a microphone sticks it in front of Khali's face as he begins to scream in Punjab - the crowd understanding nothing. Daivari pulls away the microphone and says that Khali is calling out The Big Show. The crowd begins to chant "Big Show! Big Show!" until, finally, the #1 Contender appears on-stage. Show walks down the ramp and enters the ring, getting straight into the face of the World Heavyweight Champion. The crowd begins to cheer, wanting to see the two men go at each other... but, the confrontation is interrupted as Theodore Long makes his way on-stage. Long says that these two are going to be in the ring together... at Judgment Day, next Sunday night. However, tonight, Long says that both men are going to be in action. Long says that The Big Show's match has already been announced, and says that he has not decided who Khali's opponent will be at this time. Long leaves the stage as Daivari steps between Khali and Big Show - separating the two as the crowd gives a mixture of boos and cheers.

Backstage, WWE Tag Team Champion Brian Kendrick is seen, walking through the hallway. He stops to speak with a crew member, but is quickly attacked by Sylvan. The crew member runs off as Sylvan picks up Kendrick and throws him against the concrete wall in the hallway. Kendrick slumps to the ground, after hitting his head. Sylvan bends down and tells Kendrick that next Sunday will be the last time he holds the Tag Team Title.

Batista vs. Christopher W. Anderson

These two men put on a show of power that caught the crowd's attention... and kept it, in what could be the best match of the night. C.W. Anderson overpowered "The Animal", taking the fight all over the ring and to the outside. However, Batista was able to battle out of many of Anderson's submission moves, and kicking out of the Anderson Spinebuster on various occasions. In the end, with both men showing their weariness, Batista was able to connect with the Batista Bomb for the victory.

Mamaluke says he wants to know what happened last week and why both of them got disqualified in the U.S. Title Triple Threat Match. Little Guido says that he needs to have a talk with Big Guido and Trinity about their interference. Guido says that he had no idea that it was going to happen, and that he's just as disappointed as Mamaluke. Mamaluke says he doesn't think Guido is telling the truth, because he's already holding the Cruiserweight Title. Mamaluke walks off, leaving Guido standing alone.

Coming back from commercials, C.W. Anderson is shown with an ice pack on his neck, backstage. Arn Anderson comes into the room and grabs his attention. Arn says that he's been watching C.W. since he came over to Smackdown after WrestleMania. Arn says he has watched C.W.'s desire diminish week after a week and wants to know what happened to the drive that made him the Number One Contender for the ECW Title in January. C.W. tells Arn that he has been busting his ass since he signed his contract for Smackdown... but he can't describe what's going on. Arn says that he has a plan and wants to run it by C.W. The two agree to meet next week in Baltimore to discuss Arn's plan and to take things from there.

In his office, Theodore Long announces that he has made his decision as to who will face The Great Khali in tonight's main event: Slyvan.

After the match, the camera goes backstage, where Kristal Marshall is with Sylvan. Sylvan has a depressed and angry look on his face as Kristal asks him about what his thoughts are heading into Judgment Day next Sunday night. Sylvan says that he has every intention on walking out of St. Louis with the WWE Tag Team Titles around his waist. However, he says that he was shocked to find out that Rob Conway walked away from the WWE for whatever reason. Sylvan says that it just proves that Conway wasn't ready to be in the spotlight as a champion. He promises that next week, he will announce who his partner will be for Judgment Day.

Match Four:
The Big Show vs. Roughhouse O'Reilly

The Big Show wanted to send a message to The Great Khali tonight, but a very determined Roughhouse O'Reilly stood in his way. O'Reilly and Show put on a match of pure power for the crowd in Pittsburgh, and took the action all around, even outside the ring. The Big Show was able to walk away with the victory after the Showstopper and pick up a much-needed win heading into Judgment Day.

The Big Show pinned Roughhouse O'Reilly with the Showstopper in 18:55.
Rating: ** 1/4

After the match, Josh Matthews is shown backstage, with Tony Mamaluke. Matthews asks if there's anything to be made out of the confrontation between Mamaluke and Little Guido that was seen earlier in the show. Mamaluke said that he was just frustrated that, in what could've been one of the biggest matches in the short time of the F.B.I., Big Guido had to stick his nose in the match and get both men disqualified last week. Mamaluke says that the situation will be dealt with "in-house" and that nothing should be made of it. He storms away from Josh leaving him speechless.

Following the interview, a preview of Judgment Day is shown.

Match Five:
Non-Title Match
Sylvan vs. © The Great Khali (w/Daivari)

Sylvan was put into the main event tonight and also found out that his tag partner decided to leave the company. The Great Khali, on the other hand, had other things on his mind... as he, too, wanted to send a message to The Big Show. However, the Pittsburgh crowd wound up doing everything but getting into this match. Even interference by Daivari couldn't get the crowd into it and they let both athletes know. Khali picked up the win after the Giant Choke Slam.

The Great Khali pinned Sylvan with the Giant Choke Slam in 17:43.

Sylvan came out to start the show, announcing that he had made a choice for a replacement partner since Rob Conway decided to leave the WWE. He announces that Finlay as his new partner, much to the shock of the crowd. They quickly issued a challenge to any team in the back that thinks they can beat the soon-to-be WWE Tag Team Champions. The unlikey duo of  Roughhouse O'Reilly and Bradley Jay answered the call. However, they came up short to the Number One Contenders.

The WWE Tag Team Champions, Paul London and  Brian Kendrick split their matches tonight, as London was able to overcome the attack by Sylvan last week to defeat Matt Hardy. Kendrick wasn't as successful against Shannon Moore, even with help from C.W. Anderson. After the match, Anderson, who attacked Moore, challenged "The Reject" to a match, this Sunday at Judgment Day.

United States Champion, King Booker, won a very impressive match against Hardcore Holly. The champ was trying to send a message to his challenger this Sunday, Scotty 2 Hotty. He'll have to see if the message got through, when they step into the ring at Judgment Day.

Backstage, Tony Mamaluke told Kristal Marshall that he was going to be the one who fixes the problems between the F.B.I. He said that he would challenge Little Guido for the Cruiserweight Title this Sunday. Guido accepted the challenge, but added his own stipulation: the loser of the match leaves the F.B.I for good!

The main event tonight, was a battle of big men as The Big Show took on Viscera. It was a slow moving match, and became a battle to see who had the most devestating bearhug. However, Heavyweight Champion, The Great Khali, came down and assisted Viscera. The champ's help backfired as Khali was caugt tripping Big Show, disqualifying Viscera.

Friday Night Smackdown!
July 27, 2007
Save Mart Center
Fresno, California
[hr]

A video package is shown of highlights from the World Heavyweight Title Match at the Great American Bash to start the program. This is followed by the Smackdown intro and welcome from John "Bradshaw" Layfield and Michael Cole. They begin to analyze the 40-plus minute Falls Count Anywhere Match between The Great Khali and The Big Show from Sunday night when they are interrupted by General Manager, Theodore Long.

Long comes out to the ring and says that certain things are changing on Smackdown, and mostly for the better. He says that he has a lot of work to do to make sure everything goes smoothly on August 26th, when Smackdown heads to New Jersey for SummerSlam. Long says that those changes will begin to night, but will not involve The World Heavyweight Title. Long says that the Cruiserweight Championship has given the Smackdown fans some great action over the past few months, and that tonight, they are going to be treated to a Four-Corners Match to determine the new Number One Contender, with the winner facing Little Guido at SummerSlam. Long announces the four competitors as: Low-Ki, WWE Tag Team Champion Matt Sydal, Daivari, and Brian Kendrick. Long states that the match will be a no-time limit, elimination style match, where a winner MUST be awarded by the end of the evening. Long thanks the crowd and leaves the ring.

In the back, The Big Show enters the arena in dress pants and a suit jacket; the World Heavyweight Title draped over his shoulder. As he makes his way down the hallway, he is attacked by The Great Khali. Khali continues his attack on The Big Show as Daivari shouts encouragement in Indian. After a few minutes, Khali's assault ends as he and Daivari walk away leaving The Big Show lying on the concrete floor. The camera zooms in on The Big Show's face as Smackdown goes to commercials.

DAVID YOUNG vs. FINLAY (w/Little Bastard)

(n/a)

David Young defeated Finlay by disqualification in 8:01.
Rating: * ¾
[Little Bastard interfered against David Young.]

After the match, David Young tries to grab Little Bastard before he slides out of the ring. With his back turned, Young doesn't see Finlay grab this shillelagh from under the turnbuckle. Finlay takes the shillelagh and hits Young in the knee, sending him to the ground in pain. Finlay continues to assault Young with the shillelagh until Young slides out of the ring and Finlay is restrained by the referee. Finlay leaves the ring as he and Little Bastard make their way up the ramp.

In the back, Daivari is seen standing with The Great Khali. Daivari says that what Khali did earlier tonight was meant to send a message to The Big Show and General Manager Theodore Long. He says that the message he wants to send is that Khali still feels that he is the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Title, and that he'll stop at nothing to get one last title shot. Daivari's speech is interrupted as United States Champion, King Booker, comes into the scene. Booker says that last week he made a fool out of Hardcore Holly for the umpteenth time, and proved that he is the true "king" of professional wrestling. He says he's sat back and listened to Daivari claim week after week that Khali was superior to The Big Show, only to get the words shoved down his throat every time they stepped into the ring. Booker says that the only person who should get a chance at the World Heavyweight Title is the man who has the best chance of winning it: the king of wrestling... him. Booker laughs and walks away as Daivari and Khali stare at him in anger.

Also, in the back, WWE Tag Team Champions - Mad Mikey and Matt Sydal - are seen in the locker room. Sydal taps his title and says that if it hadn't been for Daizee Haze helping them retain their titles, they may have had the shortest title reign this year. Mad Mikey glares at his partner and says that the match was in their grasps the entire time... and that he, personally, didn't need Daizee's help at the Great American Bash. Mikey then gets up and walks out of the locker room as Sydal shakes his head and smirks.

[Commercial Break]

Returning from commercials, Brian Kendrick tells Kristal Marshall that he is looking forward to the Four-Corners Match later tonight, because he has a chance to do something that his partner Paul London wasn't able to do... get a title shot and defeat Little Guido for the Cruiserweight Title. When asked about his opponents, Kendrick says that he knows what they're capable of... since he's been in the ring with a few of them over the past few months. He says that the match is going to be interesting since it will be an Elimination Match, and that the best man will come out on top.

[The Great Khali interfered against King Booker.]

After the match, King Booker grabs his United States Title and stands in the center of the ring as Khali and Daivari slowly make their way up the ramp. Booker holds up his U.S. Title and says something to Khali, but the camera does not pick it up.

In the back, The Big Show is seen in Theodore Long's office. He asks Long what is going to happen about the World Heavyweight Title and who the number one contender is. Long says it's a tough decision because although Khali has lost twice, he still finds himself as the higher ranking contender. Long also says that since Khali lost his rematch, that he contractually isn't allowed another match while The Big Show is champion. Long then adds that, since Khali is the highest ranking contender, with King Booker second, the only reasonable thing to do would be to make a Number One Contenders Match for next week between Khali and King Booker. The Big Show says, if it's something that has to be done, he's fine with it... because he's already beat Khali twice and he has teamed up with King Booker before. Big Show shakes Long's hand and leaves the office as Smackdown goes to commercials.

[Commercial Break]

Coming back from commercials, Josh Matthews asks Low-Ki what he thinks about the 4-Way Elimination Match with a chance to face Little Guido for the Cruiserweight Title. Low-Ki looks around for a moment before turning his attention to Josh... and all he says is that he wants the Cruiserweight Title, and there are three other men standing in his way. Low-Ki walks away, leaving Josh stunned.

In the locker room, King Booker is seen icing down his knees with the United States Title lying beside him on the ground. Bradley Jay approaches and congratulates Booker on his victory just minutes ago. Jay then says that a rumor is going around that Booker wants a shot at the World Heavyweight Title. King Booker says that it's not a rumor... but fact. Bradley Jay then tells King Booker that he, himself, wants a shot at the United States Title... when "the King of Wrestling" has time to defend it. Bradley Jay walks away as King Booker looks on in anger.

Match Observations:

The Great Khali earned the right to face The Big Show one more time for the World Heavyweight Title. Theodore Long has said that this will be the final time these two face unless Khali wins the title. To ensure that there is a fair and decisive winner, Long has signed this match to be a Steel Cage match.

Cruiserweight Champion Little Guido showed some of his old ECW up-bringing tonight against Mad Mikey. In a match where Guido was on the wrong end of two chairs by Big Guido and Trinity, he was able to battle through the trauma and pain to pick up the victory.

Bradley Jay surprised a lot of people tonight with his victory over Viscera. However, it was clear that "The World's Largest Love Machine" was in serious pain after being locked in the Achilles Tendon hold before being counted out. Will this victory help Bradley Jay walk away with gold next week when he faces King Booker for the United States Title?

David Young attempted to get some payback against Finlay for last week's disqualification by Little Bastard. However, his idea backfired as he found himself facing a very angry Irishman. Finlay picked up the victory, even with a little help from his little friend.

However, as the bell rang, it was seen that Credible was having a hard time getting to his feet; holding his back in pain. He was examined by the medical staff after the match where it was determined that he had strained a muscle in his lower back. The trainers suggested taking it easy for 2 weeks, but Credible said that he would be in action next week.
