Date: January 6, 1987

David Crockett (calling the replay): Here you see tag team fundamentals in action. The Barbarian tagged out to Warlord who proceeded to hit Randy Mulkey with a powerslam. He tags back into The Barbarian but instead of leaving the ring executes a running powerslam to set up The Barbarian's flying headbutt for the victory. The Powers of Pain and their manager Slick are standing by with Tony Schiavone for some comments.

Tony Schiavone: The Powers of Pain pick up another victory here on World Wide Wrestling. Slick, you're a new face to Jim Crockett Promotions but it seems like you have formed a very powerful team.

Slick: Let me tell ya something Tony Schiiiiiiiiavone, you my brotha', have got to realize that monaaaay is tha bottom line if you will. You see, it was my Ben Franklins that acquired The Powers of Pain from Paul Jones, the man they call "Mr. Number One." Looking at the result of the last match, Tony Schiavone, I'd like to think I made a very wise investment, you know what I'm saying.

Tony Schiavone: So how exactly did you come into wealth, Slick? What was your business background?

Slick: You know, Tony Schiavone, I'm a man of renowned prominance. I'm one of the best real estate businessmen in the world today and that's how I've acquired my fortune.

Tony Schiavone: Real estate?

Slick: That's right, I deal in property, you know what I mean?

Tony Schiavone: I heard that prior to managing The Powers of Pain that you managed women in Detroit, Michigan.

Slick: How dare you, Tony Schiavone! You Pringles man looking goof! How dare you insult a man of my vast intelligence and renowned dignity to try and belittle me in front of a world wide audience! If I wasn't a church member, I'd slap you across the face, believe that! This interview is over!

Tony Schiavone: Fans, on that note, we have to go to a commercial break. But stay tuned as we'll have more exciting World Wide Wrestling when we come back!

David Crockett (calling the replay): Here you see Kevin Sullivan blocking a backbreaker attempt from The Italian Stallion and countering with a stiff kick to the head. That set up Kevin Sullivan's finishing maneuver, the Tree of Woe to get the win here on World Wide Wrestling. Thankfully, I don't have to stand next to Kevin Sullivan to get his comments Tony, that's your job, take it away.

Tony Schiavone: Kevin Sullivan, come on over here. You picked up an impressive win over The Italian Stallion tonight on World Wide Wrestling. But you've had your troubles with Brad Armstrong as of late.

Kevin Sullivan: Tony Schiavone, let me tell you something right now about one Brad Armstrong. His victories over me are nothing more than the calm before the storm. Like a spider wraps it's prey, so too am I wrapping you in a cocoon of denial. Last week on World Championship Wrestling, I heard the comments Brad Armstrong made about him not agreeing with my use of the Armstrong name in my interviews. He thinks I've crossed the line by involving the family. What he fails to realize, Tony Schiavone, is that I crossed the line a long time ago in the sport. Some might say I'm not all there if you know what I mean. Brad Armstrong, you my friend, have had some luck against me the past few days. Luck won't be on your side any longer. Why is that? I can't tell you now but very soon I promise to reveal to you what will shock you more than anything. And it won't be words, it'll be action. Your whole world, everything you thought was stable, will crumble around you. I will take great pleasure in this Tony Schiavone.

Tony Schiavone: Stay tuned fans. More great World Wide Wrestling action will be coming your way as the NWA World Television Champion Tully Blanchard defends his title against Sam Houston!

(Tully Blanchard retained the NWA World Television Title.)

David Crockett (calling the replay): Here you see Tully Blanchard getting the victory with a gutwrench suplex instead of his patented Slingshot Suplex. Let's go to Tony Schiavone who is standing by with the NWA World Television Champion, Tully Blanchard.

Tony Schiavone: Sam Houston gave it all he had but it just wasn't enough tonight against you, Tully Blanchard.

Tully Blanchard: As if the result of this match was ever in doubt, Tony Schiavone. I'll give Sam Houston some credit. He gave it his all in this match but just like Dusty Rhodes and his attempts recently to take away my title, his effort just wasn't good enough when you have the likes of Tully Blanchard across the ring from you. Because Sam Houston wasn't good enough to beat me tonight, I am still your NWA World Television Champion. I can come out here week in, and week out and claim that I am the best on television because I hold this belt. This is the measuring stick as they say. Ask J.J Dillon, he'll tell you that there isn't a shortage of contenders just hoping to pry this belt away from me.

James J. Dillon: That's right, Tony Schiavone. The list reads like a who's who in professional wrestling. In my opinion, it doesn't matter who signs the contract to face Tully Blanchard. There is no one that can beat Tully Blanchard because he's beaten just about everyone there is to beat in this great sport.

Tully Blanchard: J.J. is correct when he says I've beaten everyone there is. However, I am a fighting champion and I am obligated to defend this title whenever there is a television program sanctioned by the NWA. So with that being said, in talking with James J. Dillon, he has drawn up a contract for a challenger to step up to the plate to face me for this title on World Championship Wrestling.

[Tim Horner walks up to the stage.]

Tully Blanchard: What are you doing out here? I think the broom and mop are in the back.

Tim Horner: Listen up, champ. I'm not out here to clean, I'm out here to take out the trash and that's you, Tully Blanchard!

James J. Dillon: How dare you! Who do you think you are?!

Tim Horner: I'll tell you who I am. I'm Tim Horner and I've been wrestling for this great promotion for a few years now. It's been up and down but now it's time for me to take it to the next level. You say there's an open challenge for the NWA World Television Title? You can consider it closed because I'm taking the brass ring and that title!

Tully Blanchard: Tony Schiavone, is this some kind of joke? How dare this nobody come out here during my interview time and disrespect me like this. I only defend my title against the very best, not losers like thi...

[Tully Blanchard is interupted as Tim Horner knocks Tully Blanchard down with a punch. Tim Horner stands over Tully Blanchard as the rest of The Four Horsemen come rushing out to the stage. Wisely, Tim Horner quickly leaves the set before Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, and Lex Luger can get to him.]

David Crockett (calling the replay): Here you see Ron Garvin using the same move that helped Barry Windham and him defeat The Midnight Express over the weekend, the Hands of Stone Punch. There's nobody with a harder punch than Ron Garvin and it helps Barry Windham and him win yet another match. Barry Windham and Ron Garvin are standing by with Tony Schiavone.

Tony Schiavone: Thanks David. Barry Windham and Ron Garvin, congratulations on another victory. You've looked impressive as a team in your matches with The Midnight Express recently.

Ron Garvin: Thank you, Tony. Barry and I, we might not be an established tag team like the Road Warriors, Rock 'N' Roll Express, and even The Midnight Express but we've shown Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton that we aren't a team to be overlooked. It's no surprise but that puny punk Jim Cornette has been talking negatively about me. I heard his comments on World Championship Wrestling. He said that I was nothing. I proved him wrong when I delivered my Hands of Stone punch in Charlotte and Greensboro to get the pin over your team, Jim Cornette. Of course, last night in Baltimore, Jim Cornette used his tennis racket, which is obviously loaded with something, Tony Schiavone, and beat us. Jim Cornette, the next time you get involved in my match, you better be prepared to feel the Hands of Stone punch!

Barry Windham: That's right, Ronnie. I can attest to that tennis racket being loaded with something because I'm the one who get clocked against the head with it. You can tell when someone is nervous about their standing when they have to resort to such tactics. But you know something, Tony Schiavone, the National Wrestling Alliance isn't short on competitors who are nervous about things. We already mentioned The Midnight Express. You can't talk about dirty tactics without mentioning the dirtiest of them all in The Four Horsemen. You know earlier, I was proud to see my friend Tim Horner come out here and try to take the brass ring by challenging Tully Blanchard to a World Television Title match. Tully has been walking around here, much like all the Four Horsemen, with a chip on his shoulder, acting like nobody can beat him. Well, I think with that punch Tim Horner delivered to you Tully, that chip on your shoulder is about to fall off. Let me finish this by promising that The Four Horsemen better not even think of jumping Tim Horner on Saturday night. Let them fight one on one and see who is the better man. If you don't, I can guarantee you that I will have Tim Horner's back to make sure The Four Horsemen are a non-issue.

[Ric Flair walks up to the stage and stands by Tony Schiavone.]

Ric Flair: Easy there, guys. I'm not out here to fight either of you. I'm just out here because I happened to hear someone try to warn The Four Horsemen not to do something. I couldn't believe my ears because no one tells The Four Horsemen what to do. We do as we please when we want. So Barry Windham, I hope you reconsider your promise because it could have some very bad consequences if you don't. Barry, let me tell you something, pal. I think your future in this industry has unlimited potential. But you can't have much of a future if you have a broken leg or a broken arm. You know what I'm saying hoss? Don't concern yourself with Horsemen business or you will become our business. Woooo!

Tony Schiavone: Fans, stay tuned to World Wide Wrestling. Our main event is next as Arn Anderson challenges Nikita Koloff for the NWA United States Heavyweight Title!
