Tony Schiavone: Brad Armstrong, the son of the legendary "Bullet" Bob Armstrong picks up the win this morning on World Championship Wrestling. Jim Ross, let's look at the replay.

Jim Ross: As you can see here on the replay, George South attempted to hit a lariat on Brad Armstrong but it was countered with a hiptoss. From there, Brad Armstrong was able to take George South down to the mat with the Russian Legsweep to get the victory. Brad, come on over here and let's get a few words from you. I'm new to Jim Crockett Promotions but I'm no stranger to you or your family as I've called Armstrong matches for quite some time back west. You know, they say there is an "Armstrong Curse." I have to disagree with that as I've been very impressed with your past work and your recent showing the past few weeks. But it hasn't all been smooth sailing when you have Kevin Sullivan to deal with.

Brad Armstrong: Mr. Ross, thank you for the kind words. Glad to see you here in the NWA and on the Superstation TBS. You're right about Kevin Sullivan. He's an
unorthodox character to say the least. He has no care for his own well being so he certainly has none for his opponents. Now it's one thing for Kevin Sullivan to try and injure me and take me out of the sport I love. It's another thing when he insults my family. Kevin Sullivan has been running his mouth off about Bullet Bob and that all his kids are an embarassment to the Armstrong name. Let me tell you something, Kevin Sullivan, you have no right to cast judgment on anyone in the Armstrong family. Tonight, in Charlotte, Jim Ross, I'm going to show Kevin Sullivan that you don't disrespect my family without paying the price.

Jim Ross: Strong words from Brad Armstrong towards Kevin Sullivan. We'll have more great NWA wrestling when we come back from this commercial break.

Jim Ross (calling the replay): While many might believe Wahoo McDaniel has lost a step in the ring, he certainly didn't look bad at all as he applies the Indian Deathlock on Ron Rossi in the ring, making him submit quickly. Tony Schiavone is standing by with Wahoo for some comments.

Tony Schiavone: Wahoo, it's great to see you back in the NWA. Tonight, you have a match with one of the Four Horsemen and one of the fastest rising stars in our industry in "The Total Package" Lex Luger. It's been said that Lex Luger has made it a mission to put you out of the sport of professional wrestling just as quick as you got back in it. Are you worried about this?

Wahoo McDaniel: Tonight in Charlotte, a place I've wrestled many a match in, I face a man that many are calling the future of professional wrestling. Brother, Luger, you are The Total Package. You might have a chiseled body and a great future but your confidence is going to get the better of you when you step in the ring with this veteran. You see, Tony, while Lex Luger is in there focusing on trying to end my career, I'll be working on winning the match. All I want is one more run at glory in this sport. I'm not going to let Lex Luger or anyone else ruin that dream.

Tony Schiavone: Thanks Wahoo for your time. Tonight, in Charlotte, Wahoo McDaniel will attempt to keep the dream alive against Lex Luger in his comeback. Stay tuned for more exciting NWA wrestling!

Rating: **

Jim Ross (calling the replay): Rocky King and Tim Horner kept this one competetive but the experience of Bobby Eaton took over at the end. Rocky King went for a headlock takedown only to have it countered into a back suplex by Beautiful Bobby. Look at the elevation Bobby Eaton gets as he hits the Alabama Jam. Your winners are The Midnight Express and I'm sure we'll hear plenty about that from you Jim Cornette.

Jim Cornette: Jim Ross, you're no better than your predecessor it seems. You certainly can't dress any better than him. Then again, looking at Tony Schiavone, you fit right in. But let's get back to talking about my second favorite subject other than myself and that's The Midnight Express. Week in and week out, every day we're touring around this country. Everybody can see that we are clearly the best tag team the NWA has. You would think the suits in Jim Crockett Promotions would be granting us World Tag Team Title matches against Ragin' and Rude. Instead, we are saddled with two knuckleheads like Barry Windham and Ron Garvin. Oh, I've heard Ron Garvin go on and on about the potential of Barry Windham. Yeah, maybe Barry Windham is decent but you're nothing, Ron Garvin. I even heard Ron Garvin say that he has a left and right just ready to strike if I should get involved in the match tonight in Charlotte. No need to worry about me getting involved, Ronnie, because my Midnight Express are going to have no problem beating you one, two, three.

Jim Ross: The ever opinionated Jim Cornette and The Midnight Express take on Barry Windham and Ron Garvin in tag team action tonight in Charlotte. Our main event is next after this commercial break.

[COMMERCIAL BREAK.]

Tony Schiavone: It's time for our main event and it should be a great one considering the issues these two have had recently. Tully Blanchard is about to defend his World Television Title against his nemesis Dusty Rhodes.

(Tully Blanchard retained the NWA World Television Title.)
[James J. Dillon interfered against Dusty Rhodes.]

Tony Schiavone: Dusty Rhodes came close to winning the NWA World Television Title for the fourth time. However, James J. Dillon interupted the pin attempt after the Bionic Elbow which forced referee Scrappy McGowen to call for the disqualification. Notice too how fast Tully and J.J. high tail it out of the arena to get away from Dusty Rhodes. Maybe Dusty will get another chance at the title tonight in Charlotte. Let's go to Jim Ross who is standing by with one of the greatest wrestlers in the sport today.

Jim Ross: Indeed I am, Tony. I'd like to introduce the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion, the one and only "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Champ, tonight in Charlotte you face a man that many are claiming should be wearing that gold belt around his waist in Nikita Koloff. They say you got lucky at Starrcade. They also say if you take The Four Horsemen out of the equation, you might not be the current NWA World Heavyweight Champion.

Ric Flair: I know this is your first shot at calling a major league promotion so I will give you the benefit of the doubt this time, Jim Ross. But let me ask you a question if you don't mind. If they say Nikita Koloff should be wearing the gold around his waist how come he isn't? Why is it that everytime I square off with The Russian Nightmare, I manage to come walking out of it as your World Heavyweight Champion? Answer me that, Jim Ross. No, on second thought, I'll tell you why. It's because I am Ric Flair. A man that is without a shadow of a doubt the greatest athlete to ever compete in this sport we call professional wrestling. I'm the champ. That's the bottom line in this sport. I'm at the top of my game, Jim Ross. Custom made, kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin'. Nikita Koloff, tonight in Charlotte I'm going to show you what I've shown you and everyone else that tried to knock me off my throne before that to be the man, you have got to beat the man. Wooo!!!

Jim Ross: Fans, don't miss the action tonight in Charlotte! For Tony Schiavone, I'm Jim Ross. We'll see you next week on NWA World Championship Wrestling, the major leagues of professional wrestling!

Great show... your writing brings me back to the old days of JCP & just how much I enjoyed watching those shows. Looking forward to the next show.

Thanks. As if it is not obvious enough, I took Rick up on his offer to follow up to his awesome Squared Circle Wrestling circuit. However, instead of the circuit being based on 1989, I am starting this circuit in 1987.

In addition to the main television program on Saturdays (I am following Rick's hour format too), I will be running house shows every day of the week. However, I really wish Oliver would add saved lineups as a feature for an update to TNM. It would make things very simple.

Absoulutely awesome.

Just remember when you're starting a circuit tha tpicks up in "real life" to edit those heat meters so the crowd doesn't dump on good matches.  ;)

Yeah, I made sure to raise Ric Flair to around 9. I also raised everyone else in the circuit accordingly. I really don't care all that much about getting good ratings, especially early on. Later on, for big events, I wouldn't mind good ratings, especially for Flair/Windham, for example.
