Match observations:

The first card of Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling was a mild success. A few faces that fans hadn't seen in a while made an appearance.  Barry Horowitz started the night off with a win(!) over the lesser known of the Windham brothers.  The 47 year old Horowitz showed to be in good shape still as did the 40 year old Windham.  Although Kendall is from Texas it was Mr. Horowitz who was the more recognized of the two.  Horowitz patted himself on the back with the win, even if it was by countout.

Hernandez dominated Shark Boy in the next match-up, not much of a contest for the young hoss.  The first tag match in GCCW history was nothing to write home about as the two mix and matched teams had a match less than 3 minutes in length.  Scott Putski was caught by a Victory Roll and lost his team the match.

The fans highly enjoyed our next match-up, featuring a still in shape Brad Armstrong against a slightly pudgy but still entertaining Honky Tonk Man.  The two knew how to work the crowd and put on quite a match with Brad coming out on top.  Armstrong looked happy he wasn't saddled with a crappy gimmick after the match.  Warlord and Norton took a long time to put away the Rons.  Simmons' tag team experience kept them in the match for a long time but Killings fell victim to a powerbomb from Norton while Warlord knocked Simmons off the ring apron.

Another Texas native gained a victory in what was the announced main event as Mark Henry put away Sonjay Dutt with his World's Strongest Slam.  Fans looked to be leaving for the evening until the strange Super Commando came out from the back and complained at the fact that he wasn't scheduled tonight.  He said the federation didn't want to upset all of the Mexicans who crossed the border tonight to see the card by allowing a Mexican-born wrestler who decided to get on the American side and be a SUPER Commando.

Most fans booed the the ridiculous comments by Commando, Super said if anyone had the guts to come out and face him he'd be happy to show his main event level talent.  His call was answered and let's just say it wasn't friendly.  The fans roared as Sid made his way to the ring.  Sid has a slight limp from the broken leg he suffered years earlier and definitely looks every bit of 47 years old in the face.  His body is still fairly chiseled but just his massive size is a sight to behold.  He entered the ring laughing his crazy laugh and proceeded to tear COmmando apart.  Super tried punching, dropkicking, and even body-slamming Sid but nothing worked.  Sid dominated Commando and closed out the show to chants of "Sid!  Sid!  Sid!"

Match observations:
The night started off with a nice back and forth match between Lance Cade and Sam Houston, the just released from prison Houston couldn't fight off Cade who won after a DDT at just past the 14 minute mark.  The six-man tag was a clusterbomb from the get-go, albeit a very entertaining clusterbomb.  The match lasted just under five minutes but was non-stop action with not much time to rest.  Each man fought off with another and the match abruptly ended with Scott Norton powerbombing Ron Simmons to take the victory.

Fans really enjoy the work Brad Armstrong puts into a match, he gives it his all everytime and came away with another impressive victory, this time against Super Commando in a very nice match.  The fans applauded Armstrong's efforts and seemed to appreciate him greatly.  The next match was a vindication of sorts as Barry Horowitz actually gained a pinfall victory instead of a countout agaisnt Kendall Windham, proving that last week was no fluke.

Honky Tonk Man gained an easy victory over Sonjay Dutt in the next match-up, winning with his Shake, Rattle'n'Roll.  The next match saw the World's Storngest Man Mark Henry take one both Jay Lethal and Shark Boy.  Henry was almost overwhelmed but use his enormous size advantage to take Shark Boy down with the World's Strongest Slam.

The main event once again featured Sid who took down the quite cocky Matt Striker.  Striker made numerous comments before the match about Sid's age and ability, calling him a "Washed up psychopath who can't form sentences", Sid laughed and tore his way through Striker much to the delight of the fans.

Match observations:
The crowd in Kingsville was amped up for the night of wrestling GCCW had planned.  There has been a mixed reaction among the Texas residents that have seen the first two GCCW shows and a small buzz is starting to build as the federation branches out to other areas along the Gulf Coast.  Poor Sam Houston was regulated to another opening card loss, this time against Kendall Windham.  Kendall had his way in the match and finished Houston off with a Bulldog just shy of 14 minutes.

The tag team of Jay Lethal and Shark Boy who last week lost to Sid single-handily this week won against Super Commando and Elix Skipper.  Commando and Skipper didn't coexist well in the ring and that was inevitably their downfall as Commando was pinned after a Dead Sea Drop.  Scott Putski got a lucky win against Warlord after a spalsh in less than 5 minutes.  Although in theory Putski is the fan favorite in this match-up the fans didn't respond well to him and put most of the heat on Warlord.

Another tag match was up next with Honky Tonk Man gaining a little bit of revenge on Brad Armstrong by earning his team a countout victory after a DDT on the outside of the ring caused Armstrong to not recover in time to get back in the ring.  Super Commando ran to ringside and attacked Armstrong during the match, trying to get back at Brad for his loss last week.

The next match-up saw the ever impressive Hernandez defeat Ron Killings in a nicely contested matchup.  Killings put up quite a fight against the much larger Hernandez but inevitably fell victim to the Border Toss.  Our main event of the evening did not feature Sid but instead was a match-up of Ron Simmons versus Scott Norton.  Norton pinned Simmons last week in their six-man tag match and Simmons wanted to exact revenge, revenge is what he got.  The two battled back and forth in a bout nothing short of manly that ended with Simmons hitting the Dominator on Norton for the win.  Fans cheered, people went home happy.

Match observations:

Tonight was a definite historic night for the short history of GCCW.  Our first ever Coastal Champion was crowned in a Royal Rumble style battle royal.  The match was exciting with a few shocking moments including Barry Horowitz tossing Mark Henry out and eliminating a definite favorite along with several notable fights.  Hernandez and Ron Simmons battled back and forth with one another for several minutes straight with Simmons successfully throwing him out.  It looked like momentum was on Ron's side as he eliminated several opponents and left himself in the ring against the unlikely finalist of Shark Boy and another favorite to win the match--Sid.

Things quickly turned sour when Sid, in what looked like an accident dropped Ron Simmons directly on his head with a Power Bomb.  Simmons fell still and Sid punched him several times before throwing him over the ropes and to the floor, with his real final challenge thrown out Sid coasted to victory less than a minute later by Power Bombing Shark Boy and throwing him out.  Some of the fans in attendance cheered Sid but most fell silent as Ron Simmons continued to lie on the outside motionless.  Medical staff came down from the back and along with all of GCCW's referees attended to Simmons.  The fans grew restless and started throwing candy, drinks, and even signs at Sid, who stood in the ring with the title and a creepy smile planted on his face.

Match observations:
There a somber undertone to tonight's card as GCCW officials came out to address the fans about what happened to Ron Simmons at the Corpus Christi Rumble.  Some fans knew or heard about what happened while others were oblivious but everyone was in shock to find that Ron Simmons had endured serious spinal trauma in the fall and that his career maybe in fact over.  Officials apologized for the sad news but promised a good night of wrestling and they definitely delivered.

Brad Armstrong continues his great showings as he went almost the full time-limit with Elix Skipper before winning with a powerslam at just under the 20 minute mark.  Many fans in the audience were a buzz at what some are calling the best pure wrestling match in the short history of GCCW.  A four corners match was filled with excitement next with quite an upset showing, Scott Putski eliminated all three other competitors on his way to a very impressive victory.  Lance Cade was disqualified after being caught hitting Putski in the back with a chair, it looked like Putski would be eliminated after Warlord came into the ring directly after the disqualification and began to pound on Scott but in the end Putski prevailed.

It can't be called luck anymore as Horowitz notched another victory under his belt, this time defeating the very capable and cocky Matt Striker who turned his back one too many times on Barry, we'll see if Striker learned his lesson.  Sam Houston broke his unlucky streak next by gaining victory over Super Commando with a bulldog in a very good match.  To continue the night of upsets, one of the final two in last week's CC Rumble Shark Boy outlasted the much more experienced Honky Tonk Man.  After the match Honky tried hitting Shark Boy with his guitar but was denied by a duck under and a push over the top rope and to the floor.  Coastal Champion Sid came down to ringside next, much to the chagrin of those in attendance.  Sid sat at ringside with his title draped over his shoulder watching the match-up between the two behemoths of Hernandez and Scott Norton.

The match between these two was hard-hitting to say the least with neither man backing down but Hernandez showed that youth can definitely outlast experience, taking Norton down with a T-Bone suplex.  Hernandez looked over at Sid after the match and even made a "title" motion with his hands around his waist but Sid just stared off into space, his toothy grin etched across his face.  Our main event of the evening featured Mark Henry versus Jay Lethal in a quintessential David vs. Goliath match-up.  Jay Lethal fought hard but did lose out in the end to the very impressive Henry, who finished Lethal off with a splash.

Match observations:
Our last stop in our inagural tour of Texas was quite the doozy.  The action started off nicely with a six-man tag match that went back and forth between both teams.  Barry Horowitz continues his streak of wins in matches by hitting Super Commando with a superkick while Houston and Shark Boy fought against Skipper and Windham.

The next match was nearly perfect, much to the surprise of the "smart" fans in the arena and the average Joe.  Hernandez and Putski worked very well together, back and forth action with the crowd solidly behind Putski.  After last week's impressive victory against Scott Norton Hernandez was highly enraged and screamed of a fast count after Scott Putski pinned him with a roll-up.  Speaking of Norton, he got back on the winning track by beating Jay Lethal next with a vicious powerbomb.  Lethal is liked very well by the fans but can't seem to get on track and his frustration was shown after the match as he kicked at the ropes after the loss.

Brad Armstrong showed why he is a force to be reckoned with among GCCW competitors by gaining another impressive victory, this time against the much larger Warlord.  So far, it seems as if Brad Armstrong maybe the most popular wrestler in GCCW as the fans just can't get enough.  Mark Henry continued his singles dominance by this time defeating the Honky Tonk Man, who is on a streak of his own, just not the positive one.

Matt Striker came down to ringside and gave quite the rant on how misused he was so far in GCCW and that he was tired of all these guys "in their 40s and 50s" getting face-time over such a talented wrestler as himself.  The fans showed their lack of support to Mr. Striker by booing him incessantly.  Striker issued an open challenge to anyone who wanted a piece and his challenge was answered rather forcefully by the newest wrestler in GCCW--"The Beast" Bob Sapp.  Some fans that are familiar with MMA or that have seen Sapp in the past cheered loudly as The Best made his way to ringside, while others cheered at the size of Sapp.  This wasn't even a contest as Sapp man-handled Striker, throwing him around the ring and finishing him off with a flying headbutt in just a shade over a minute and a half.

Sapp grabbed the microphone after the match, saying that he was here not only to dominate but to exact revenge for his friend Ron Simmons.  The crowd popped at the mention of Simmons and Sapp promised he would break Sid.  Bob dropped the mic and made his way to the back, fans cheering the entire way.  Our main event was more of a match-up than some may have thought as Sid looked to be pre-occupied the entire match.  He kept his view towards the entranceway, maybe a little shocked at the debut of Bob Sapp.  Sid finally seemed to get his mind right towards the end though, ending Killings by Power Bombing him several times then laying him down with a bodyslam for the victory.  With a blank face Sid walked to the back, belt across his shoulder while fans jeered and the show ended.

Since it's an indy fed it could be almost anywhere and I could always do the ol' "somewhere close to said city" trick.  Are there any places big enough to accommodate?

I know there were wrestling shows there many years ago, Paul Boesch might have promoted them. I'm not sure where they were held. the Houston Rockets used to have their training camp there so there must be a good sized gym there with some stands.

Match observations:
Our first card in Louisiana did not disappoint from the opening match to the main event.  Barry Horowitz continued his winning ways once again by pinning Super Commando with the HOROWITZ ROLL-UP.  After the match Horowitz went along ringside and let fans pat him on the back for the brilliant job he's done so far in GCCW.  An exciting tag match took place next with the cowboy team of Kendall Windham and Lance Cade getting a victory over the team of Shark Boy and Sonjay Dutt.  Windham and Cade worked well together and maybe quite the formidable team in the future if they can co-exist.

Sam Houston was on the winning side for the third card in a row, taking down Warlord with the Bulldog in just under ten minutes.  Fans didn't have much of a reaction to either man really, as the match didn't flow as well as what would be liked.  Poor Ron Killings just can't get on the winning side of the match in his career so far in GCCW.  The toll of losses seems to be getting to Killings who came out with his hair unkempt and stubble growing along his face, he almost gained the victory but much to the chagrin of himself and the fans Scott Norton finished him off with a powerbomb for the victory.

Hernandez was quite impressive in his next matchup as the much quicker Jay Lethal nearly wore him out with his speed advantage.  After several minutes of Lethal having control over the match Hernandez ended up dominating on sheer power, throwing Lethal around a bit before hitting him with the Border Toss for the victory.

We had quite another tag team match up next with the ever popular Brad Armstrong and the increasingly popular Scott Putski defeating a couple of rising up an comers in Elix Skipper and Matt Striker.  Striker and Skipper actually had the advantage in the waning moments but they made the grave mistake of taunting with their backs turned.  Armstrong dropkicked Striker out of the ring, got up and hit Elix Skipper with a Russian Legsweep for the win.  Our main event of the evening saw the newest member of GCCW Bob Sapp take on Honky Tonk Man.  Honky wasn't much of a challenge for Sapp, who while not only being so much younger than HTM but also so much larger and athletic just dominated the veteran.  Mark Henry came down to ringside towards the end of the match and watched along as Sapp hit HTM with a vicious Yakuza Kick to earn the victory.  Henry grabbed a microphone after Sapp had won and stepped into the ring.  Both men stood face to face, staring one another in the eyes while Henry said Sapp had no right to try and come in off the streets and think he deserves a chance at the Coastal Championship.  Henry said he didn't give a damn if Simmons is or was Sapp's friend, all he cared about was getting the championship from Sid.  Henry went on to tell Sapp to watch his back and that he'll meet him in the ring soon to see who has the right to face Sid.

Many questions arise for the coming weeks.  Why wasn't Sid at the show?  Who will win, Henry or Sapp?  Can Barry Horowitz and Brad Armstrong both continue their healthy winning streaks and will any new faces make their debut?  All questions will be answered in the coming weeks.

The fact that Brad Armstrong and Barry Horowitz have been dominating the GCCW has really caught my eye. I'm interested to see just how this will play out. I'm glad the Armstrong curse hasn't hit GCCW yet. I marked big for them every Saturday morning back on WCW Worldwide or whatever it was called.

No shortage of huge black men topping the promotion!

I like this group of guys here. This roster could only come together in TNM and we get to "witness" matches that will likely never happen. This is my first look at the circuit but I liked the writeups. I especially enjoyed the Battle Royal writeup with Simmons getting injured because of Sid's clumsiness.

I will follow.

Match observations:
The night started off very hot with Ron Killings finally getting off his losing streak in an outstanding match with Super Commando.  The two worked very, very well with one another and the crowd was very loud throughout the match.  Killings got a very large pop with his first victory and looked very happy at the end.  Kendall Windham and Lance Cade gained another tag team victory, this time against the much larger team of Scott Norton and Warlord.  Norton seemed angry with Warlord after the match and got right in his face, yelling and screaming.  Warlord angrily walked out of the ring, pointing at Norton on the way out.

Scott Putski defeated Elix Skipper next in a pretty fast paced matchup.  Even with Putski being several years the senior of Elix Skipper he seemed one step ahead throughout the match.  Skipper was hit with a flying crossbody and that was all she wrote.  Horowitz stepped up his usual competition in our next matchup, facing the great Honky Tonk Man.  Honky hasn't had much luck in GCCW so far but has been very close to winning in several of his high profile matchups, Tonk seems to be gaining his ring legs back and although he's no longer a spring chicken he uses savvy to his advantage.  Unfortunately for him Horowitz is just as crafty and fought his way throughout the match and ultimately to another victory.  So far in GCCW Barry Horowitz's only blemish is in a tag team match from a countout loss.

Our next matchup wasn't much of a contest but the aftermath was quite interesting.  Brad Armstrong continued his hot streak in record fashion, drop-kicking Jay Lethal as the bell rang, then hitting him with a Russian Legsweep and gaining victory in just under 30 seconds.  Lethal looked mighty pissed off after the match but didn't do much for retaliation.  As Armstrong slapped hands at ringside, celebrating another victory a surprise came down to ringside.  Two popular independent wrestlers who were recognized by some, but mostly unknown to this very Southern crowd.  The two men were Larry Sweeney and Chris Hero.  Sweeney was dressed as per usual, very flamboyantly with Chris Hero in tow.  Larry asked for a microphone and motioned for Brad Armstrong to come into the ring.

Armstrong ducked under the bottom rope and into the ring, standing opposite the two up-and-coming stars.  Sweeney started off with how much he grew up loving Brad Armstrong as a kid and how cool it was to finally meet him.  Armstrong thanked him and asked just who he was.  Sweeney went on to tell him he was not only a great wrestler but a wrestling super agent, looking for all the top talent he could take for Sweet 'N' Sour Incorporated.  Larry introduced Armstrong to his top wrestler, who Sweeney called the "best in the business" Chris Hero.  Brad, who's obviously been around quite a while didn't look very impressed with either man but continued to listen.  Larry asked Brad if he would join Sweet 'N' Sour and take his career to the next level, he mentioned how even though he loved him so much as a kid that there always loomed the "Armstrong curse" over Brad and his family's head and he knew that this so-called "hot streak" that Armstrong was on was nothing more than a lucky streak.  Larry said Brad needs people in his corner who will watch out for him and that this is his perfect opportunity to team up with two great young and upcoming superstars.

Brad looked around to the fans, who were screaming for him not to do it, throwing boos down onto the very cocky Sweeney and the somewhat smug Chris Hero.  Armstrong stopped to think for a moment but shaking his head and telling Sweeney he wouldn't do it, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.  Fans cheered while Larry looked shocked to say the least, shaking his head and yelling at Brad that he had made a mistake.  Sweeney motioned for Hero to go after Armstrong but Brad prepared, clotheslining Chris over the top rope and throwing Sweeney out right behind him.  Armstrong stood tall in the ring while Sweet 'N' Sour Incorporated made their way to the back, Hero holding his neck and Sweeney holding his head.

Next up we had Mark Henry, who for the second time in his GCCW career was on the opposite side of a handicap match.  It really didn't matter a whole lot though as both men together don't weigh as much as Henry by himself.  The match lasted quite a while with Shark Boy and Sonjay trying to wear Henry down in hopes of getting a pinfall or submission victory out of sheer stamina.  Mark definitely tired himself out towards the end, sweating profusely and slightly stumbling a bit but managed to pull off the victory at the end with a World's Strongest Slam.

Our semi-main event featured two behemoths fighting it out.  Bob Sapp, who along with Mark Henry claims to want a shot at Coastal Champion Sid against the young beast Hernandez.  This was a knockdown, drag out fight between these two with Hernandez not afraid of the kickboxing background of Sapp, both men throwing shots at one another with Sapp eventually getting the advantage with several knees to the stomach of Hernandez, knocking the wind out of his lungs and depleting his stamina.  The match started getting sluggish at around the 13 minute mark, with both men stalling and looking worn out.  Sapp did however gain victory after ducking under a Hernandez clothesline attempt and rocking him with a Yakuza kick that landed with so much impact that the sound of skin slapping made quite an audible noise with all the crowd reaction and causing blood to spill from the mouth of Hernandez.  The fans cheered on Sapp after the match, who made his way slowly to the back.

Sid made his way down to ringside for the main event of the evening, blankly staring ahead and not acknowledging any of the fans who were booing him on the way down.  He calmly grabbed the mic at ringside and stepped over the top rope, belt draped across his shoulder.  Sid started off saying that he didn't show up at last week's show because he had regret that was weighing heavily on his shoulders.  Some fans fell quiet, hoping he would apologize for what he did to Ron Simmons but instead Sid said he regretted not hurting Simmons and everyone else even further.  The fans booed mightily, most in disgust with a few throwing things at Sid in the ring, who didn't pay much attention, just began laughing over and over before saying he didn't care who wanted a piece of him, all will lie at his feet because he is not only Coastal Champion but the MASTER and RULER of the....WORLD!  Unfortunately for Sam Houston he was the man who drew Sid's name tonight and he didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell against the fired up Sid.  The Coastal Champ toyed with Sam Houston throughout the match, throwing him around the ring with ease before spiking him down with a power bomb and pinning him with one foot for the victory.  Sid continued to laugh as the show ended.

Word has come out that Ron Simmons has begun a very slow rehab regime that will hopefully bring him back to the ring at some point in the future.  There is no time table currently on when he will be back if ever but he is said to be in high spirits and is excited about making a comeback.

Many people in the locker room have come out and said that Warlord and Scott Norton were so angry with one another after their tag match against Windham and Cade that they fought in the back, throwing one another around and attacking each other with various objects.  Needless to say, plans for the two to tag in the future are over.

Bob Sapp and Mark Henry will be meeting at some point in the future to see who will take on Sid for the Coastal Championship.  GCCW officials confirmed that both men are ready to take on one another and say the match should be coming up soon.

Rick GarrardPosted on 07/05/07 at 07:16:40

I must say this circuit caught my eye tonight as when I saw "Gulf Coast" I was thinking Percival Pringle III and his recently failed venture with his Gulf South Wrestling promotion.  I am glad to see I am not the only one not afraid to use Horowitz and Armstrong in the same circuit at the same time.  :)

This one is a must follow.
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 07/05/07 at 07:29:51

I agree. I like the simplicity of this circuit too. It seems like an authentic representation of an indy fed and the match writeups also reflect nuiances like Sid aging and showing it but still being good enough to be a champion.
Rick GarrardPosted on 07/05/07 at 07:45:25

I kinda hope that we see Arn Anderson someday sitting at ringside with a pair of scissors  ;)
rebelins313Posted on 07/06/07 at 01:00:41

Thank you very much for the kinds responses guys, I really appreciate it.  It's cool to have people dig a fed and I'm glad you guys are enjoying it 'cause I'm sure having a lot of fun with it.

I just thought it would be neat to have a lot of "over-the-hill" so to speak wrestlers that I enjoyed greatly growing up mixed in with several guys that were up and coming along with established.  Flair, Sheik, Jumbo and the like all show(ed) that you can wrestle well up in age along with several others I'm obviously not mentioning so I figured it'd be fun.

Match observations:
Our opening match was initially scheduled to be Scott Putski versus Matt Striker but Putski never showed up at the arena tonight.  Officials replaced him with Shark Boy, who was supposed to have the night off.  Shark Boy took full advantage and beat Striker in a nice match.  Striker seems to have a lot of talent but sells himself a little too much with his constant taunting and jawing with the fans.  It proved to cost him again as Shark Boy hit him with the Dead Sea Drop for the victory.

Honky Tonk Man was all business when he came to the ring tonight, ready to get back to his usual winning ways.  Honky looked very good, completely dominating Super Commando, working over his neck and then finishing him off with the Shak, Rattle'n'Roll.  Next up we saw the in-ring debut of Sweet 'N' Sour Incorporated as Sweeney and Hero took down the up-and-coming team of Kendall Windham and Lance Cade.  Sweeney and Hero used good double team moves and controlled their side of the ring, working both men over and getting a nice victory.  Sweet 'N' Sour Inc. celebrated in the ring for a little too long, annoying the fans who booed them heavily.

Ron Killings proved again that he's one of the better in-ring performers in GCCW, having another very good match against the very talented but raw Jay Lethal.  Both men had their rolls in the match but Killings came out of nowhere with a flying forearm that landed perfectly on Lethal, leaving him woozy enough for Killings to get the 1, 2, 3. The next match saw Brad Armstrong finally lose by pinfall or submission in a GCCW ring but it was extremely tainted.  Hernandez and Armstrong were having what could have amounted to a classic until Sweet 'N' Sour Inc. came down to ringside and decided to poke their noses in on the action.  Larry Sweeney distracted the referee while Hero hit Armstrong right across the face with a steel chair, knocking him unconscious.  Hernandez, ever the opportunist lifted the body of Armstrong off the mat and locked in a torture rack.  The referee turned around, saw Armstrong on Hernandez' shoulders passed out and called for the bell, awarding Hernandez with the victory.

Armstrong started coming to after the match, looking confused and bewildered.  Sweeney and Hero ducked under the ropes and took advantage on the fallen Armstrong, laying into him with kicks to the face and chest.  Hero picked Brad up and held on while Sweeney slapped him repeatedly in the face.  Larry forced Armstrong to his knees and grabbed the same chair Hero hit him with earlier and nailed him another time across the face, leaving him a bloodied mess in the ring.  Some of the younger fans in the audience were screaming while others threw more debris at the two.  Officials forced Sweet 'N' Sour Inc. to the back and carried Armstrong away so we could continue action.

Next up was a match pitting two men who had been tag teaming with one another for a short period of time, Warlord and Scott Norton.  After their matchup last card against Kendall Windham and Lance Cade the two had a falling out backstage and tore up much of the locker room in Grand Isle, Louisiana.  Tonight they met in the ring, and needless to say this was an all-out war.  Both men laid into each other with punches with neither man backing down.  Warlord challenged Norton to a test of strength that lasted nearly a minute, neither man wanting to give into the other.  Norton kicked Warlord in the stomach and took advantage, the match lasted quite a while with Warlord working over Norton's neck and back with various moves to try and topple Scott.  In the end Warlord's strength advantage proved to be the difference as he locked on a Full-Nelson, not allowing Norton to escape and in fact causing him to pass out after nearly two minutes in the hold.  Warlord was very happy to win after the match, celebrating although showing obvious signs of being winded.

Our main event of the evening featured GCCW Coastal Champion Sid defending his title against Barry Horowitz.  GCCW officials have been very pleased with Horowitz in the ring and thought he deserved a shot at the belt tonight.  Horowitz showed his worth, taking many blows from the much larger Sid.  Barry used his speed advantage to work over Sid's once broken leg, trying to immobilize the big man as to not let him use his obvious advantage of strength against Horowitz.  The fans were solidly behind Horowitz, who throughout his wrestling career has been overshadowed by so many men, helping build careers in the ring and never getting his true shot.  Barry's talent is unquestionable, even at his current age and condition.  Sid however was too much in the end, hobbling around the ring noticeably but still with more than enough strength to hit Horowitz with a devestating Power Bomb for the victory.  The fans gave Horowitz quite the ovation as he walked to the back, clutching at his back while doing so.  Sid stayed in the ring, staring at his Coastal Championship and smiling, knowing he'd have it atleast for another day.

VertigoPosted on 07/09/07 at 01:04:57

Shark Boy always makes a great wrestler to have on call.

What problem does SnS Inc. have with Armstrong? I do like seeing Hero here though. He's can generate good heat.

I like Hernandez. I hope for big things from him.

I don't buy Horowitz as a top guy. I'm not sure why. Maybe just his record in the alternate universe of real life. I'll try my best to get behind him. Maybe if Sid wasn't on top and it was someone I could see Horowitz possibly overcoming, but with the giants on this roster I can't see him going anywhere following this card.

I could be proved wrong though.
rebelins313Posted on 07/09/07 at 04:00:20

SnS tried to recruit Armstrong last card to join them but he declined so that's where that came from.

Horowitz got a shot at Sid since he's racked up several wins in a row and had the momentum.

Thanks for the response!

Match observations:

Tonight was a jam-packed card with a lot of big happenings for the future of GCCW.  The night started out on fire with Super Commando gaining his first victory as a GCCW competitor against the much recently maligned Matt Striker.  Commando, despite his long losing streak has a following of fans it seems that like his fast-paced, hard-working style.  The fans were solidly behind him in the match, cheering him on against Striker.  Commando finished Striker off with a flying double stomp from the top-rope, nearly crushing the sternum of Matt and knocking all the air from his lungs.

The next matchup was strange, not for the result but because of the interference of Ron Killings.  Killings ran to ringside and hit Lethal with a kick right to the gut as he was just gaining control of the match.  Honky finished Lethal off with the Shake Rattle'n'Roll though, taking the advantage he was granted.  The fans didn't know what to think of Killings after the match, who look satisfied with his work.  Warlord, who made his ex-tag partner Scott Norton pass out in a Full Nelson last week this week gained a victory over Kendall Windham by making him pass out with a bearhug.  Warlord has been on quite the roll and has gained newfound respect from a lot of the GCCW faithful.

Windham's tag partner Lance Cade defeated Warlord's former tag partner Norton in the next match-up.  BOth men had spurts of control throughout the match but Cade ended up being too much, hitting a beautiful Top-Rope Legdrop for the victory.  Shark Boy faced off next against the man he replaced in the opening contest last week--Scott Putski.  Putski seemed off his game again and his head wasn't in the right place at all as Shark Boy dominated him from the get-go, so much to the point that Putski didn't get a single move in.  Shark Boy hit a reverse neckbreaker for the win in just over a minute and a half.  Putski looked mightily pissed off after the match and stormed his way out the back.

Next up was match that turned out to be one great contest.  Barry Horowitz, who last card gave it his all against Coastal Champion Sid took on one of the hottest wrestlers in GCCW right now Ron "The Truth" Killings.  Killings came out to a mixed reaction from his actions earlier against Jay Lethal but didn't seem to mind.  Both men brought throughout the match, Horowitz working over the shoulders of Killings while Ron went for the neck of Horowitz.  The match went back and forth, back and forth with both getting several near falls.  The referee motioned for the bell at one point, both men looking confused and the fans furious to know why.  GCCW ring announcer Ken Williams declared the match a draw, much to the chagrin of all parties involved.  Horowitz extended his hand to Killings who took it reluctantly, causing the fans to cheer loudly.  The cheers quickly turned to boos however as Killings pulled him in, kicked him in the stomach and hit The Consequence to lay Horowitz out in the middle of the ring.  Jay Lethal ran down from the back, causing Killings to exit the ring quickly and make his way back.  Lethal checked on Horowitz, who looked in a daze from the events.

The semi-main event goes down as the match with the most heat in GCCW's short history.  The fans were rabid to find out who Brad Armstrong's tag team partner was, SnS Inc. both looked intrigued as Armstrong got on the mic, saying this man was not only a great up-and-comer but also a big fan of Brad himself.  Armstrong told a short story of meeting his tag partner and being mighty impressed with the young man's in-ring ability and knowledge of the sport.  Both Hero and Sweeney's faces lit up when Joey Ryan came from the back.  SnS Inc. laughed at chuckled to themselves while some fans in attendance clapped and others looked confused since Ryan doesn't work the area much if at all.  Ryan greeted Armstrong and the match was on.  All four men brought their A-game tonight and the fans were treated to very good tag-team wrestling.  Ryan and Armstrong were a little slow out of the gates in the teamwork department while Sweeney and Hero had very little more experience but seemed more in sync.  Both teams got into quite the groove though and there was more back and forth matchup than you could shake the proverbial stick at.

Ryan and Armstrong looked like they would win at around the 30 minute mark as Armstrong hit Sweeney with a Russian Legsweep.  Ryan had Hero under control in the corner with a flurry of punches but Larry put his foot on the ropes at 2 9/10ths, causing a near riot in the arena.  To Sweeney's credit he was in the ring for most of the match for his team and ended up winning it for his team with the 12 Large Elbow on Joey Ryan for the victory.  All four men were exhausted after the match, Armstrong checking on his teammate and SnS Inc. celebrating their victory as much as they could.  The fans gave Ryan/Armstrong a standing ovation as Brad helped Joey to the back.

It was going to be hard to follow that match up but Bob Sapp and Mark Henry had a very hard-hitting main event to earn the right to face Sid for the GCCW Coastal Championship.  Both giants stood toe-to-toe in the ring starting the match, Henry jawing with Sapp.  Neither man was knocked to his back until 4 minutes in as Henry hit Sapp with a football tackle to take him to the mat.  You could tell Sapp wasn't used to being man-handled and was knocked off his game a bit by The World's Strongest Man.  Henry dominated a lot of the match-up, hitting several high impact moves that almost resulted in victory.  The crowd was solidly behind Sapp, who fought back with mainly strikes and a few wrestline takedowns but even for the Beast it was hard to mount a ground game against the massive Henry.  The closest Henry came to victory was towards the end of the match as he hit the World's Strongest Slam.  Sapp kicked out just in time though and mounted the eventual winning comeback.  Bob hit Henry with a few closed-fist punches to the face, an elbow strike to the jaw and a knee to the gut.  Mark rose his head up just as Sapp came forward with a sick Yakuza kick to the jaw, causing Henry's eyes to roll into the back of his head and his neck to violently snap back.  Sapp covered and gained the number one contendership.

The Beast let out a guttural roar after the match, making the universal "I want the belt" motion around his waist.  The fans booed heavily though, cutting Sapp's celebration short as the Coastal Champion Sid made his way to the ring.  Sid stepped over the top rope and towered over the bulkier Sapp.  Both men stared one another down, the fans cheering for the inevitable clash of The Master and Ruler of the World and the Beast.  The show ended with the standoff.

Match observations:

Super Calo and Shark Boy opened the night off with a very nice match-up.  Some of the fans remember Calo from his days in WCW and maybe even a few recognized him from AAA, regardless he put on quite the aerial display and ended up winning the match with a top-rope headscissors.  Chris Hero was very impressive as well in the next match-up as he took on Lance Cade who has been on a hot streak in both tag and singles competition.  Hero and Cade had a feeling out process and Cade took initial control of the match with his slight size advantage.  The fans were solidly behind the usual non fan favorite Cade as most in the arena do not like the duo of Hero and Sweeney.  Hero finished Cade off with the Hero's Welcome at just a bit past the 12 minute mark and celebrated after the match with Larry Sweeney.

Hero stayed at ringside for Sweeney's match which was up next.  Sweeney had his hands full with the very large Scott Norton.  Norton showed his strength advantage, throwing Sweeney outside of the ring and getting the fans behind him in this matchup.  Larry taunted a few fans on the outside before making his way back in the ring and he did end up taking control of the match, working over the legs of the larger Norton.  Scott made a comeback, pummeling Sweeney across the back with several forearms.  Hero distracted the referee just as Sweeney went to his furry boots for a pair of brass knuckles.  Norton was trying to get Hero off the apron as well and didn't see the knuckle shot coming right to the back of his head.  Sweeney quickly hid the knucks back in his boot and hit a very tough back suplex on Norton before nailing the 12 Large Elbow for the victory.

Matt Striker was finally on his game tonight, gaining his most impressive victory so far in GCCW.  It looked as if Hernandez was the man who was underestimating his opponent this night as he was very sluggish in his movements and not much excitement towards the match at all.  Striker took advantage and came out with the victory, hitting the Golden Rule to win in just under 15 minutes.  Hernandez snapped after the match, going on a rampage and throwing the referee over the top rope before pounding on Striker.  SnS Inc. ran down to the ring which surprised the audience a bit and began laying a beating on Hernandez.  Hero grabbed a chair from ringside and smacked Hernandez right across the face.  Striker joined in on the attack and started kicking the big man while he was down.  Brad Armstrong and Joey Ryan ran down to the ring sending SnS Inc. scurrying towards the back.  Up the rampway Striker seemed to be talking to Sweeney and Hero who had big smiles on their faces.  Armstrong and Ryan helped Hernandez to the back who had a very large cut above his right eye.

The next match wasn't much of a match as Honky Tonk Man tried for the first half minute of the match to take Warlord down, after failing miserably Honky grabbed his guitar and let loose on Warlord with a guitar shot that knocked poor Warlord clean out.  The referee quickly called for the bell while Honky was booed nearly out of the building for ruining a match.  Before the next matchup Sid came down to the ring to address the fans.  He wore the GCCW Coastal Championship over his shoulder, looking around the arena that booed him incessantly.  Sid went on a semi-rant saying he was ready to take Sapp on but that the suits wanted to hold it off as long as possible.  He said the lust he has for delivering pain is not being quenched and that he is tired of not getting to dominate anyone.  Sid began shaking and sweating profusely saying that Bob Sapp couldn't beat him on his best day and that Sid wouldn't lose on his worst.  Before he could finish saying he was the MASTER...AND RULER...OF THE WORLD he was interrupted by the #1 contender Bob Sapp.  Sapp came to ringside in a PRIDE Fighting shirt and a big smile on his face.  The fans cheered wildly for Sapp who then stepped into the ring, getting up close to Sid.  Sapp snatched the microphone out of Sid's hand, which pissed Sid off even more.

Bob went on to tell Sid that he was nothing more than a water-headed country boy who didn't know true competition.  Sapp said he could beat Sid with just his bare hands and even clenched his fist, putting it to Sid's jaw.  Sapp said that Sid wouldn't be able to man-handle him like he did others because Sapp has beaten everyone that GCCW has put in front of him.  Before he could go on Sid slapped him across the face with the Coastal Championship, busting Sapp's lip open in the process and causing Bob to flip out and tackle him to the ground.  The fans went nuts as the two big men started slugging it out on the mat, Sapp took advantage of being in the mount position and started hitting Sid with closed fist shots to the face, bloodying Sid up in the process.  GCCW officials ran down to the ring, grabbing Sapp and getting him off of Sid and trying to calm the situation down.  Sid flipped out even more, kicking at the ropes and trying to hit Sapp with the belt by swinging it wildly.  Both men were finally subdued and sent to the back, the crowd in a frenzy for the inevitable showdown.

Joey Ryan came down to the ring with Brad Armstrong as his second and put on a show for the fans in attendance.  Windham had definitely never wrestled Ryan before and Ryan's youth definitely came through for him in the end.  Joey worked over the left arm of Windham, trying to soften him up for easier pin attempts.  Ryan paid an homage to Brad Armstrong towards the end of the match, hitting a Russian Legsweep then climbing to the top rope and hitting a beautiful flying elbowdrop for the victory.

Our main event of the evening was spurred on from last week's events.  Ron Killings and Barry Horowitz wrestled to a 20 minute draw and Killings cost Lethal in his match against the Honky Tonk Man.  This week all three men would collide to settle the score.  The match started off quickly with Killings drop-kicking Horowitz into Jay Lethal, knocking Lethal into the corner.  Killings immediately hit the Consequence on Horowitz, grabbed ahold of the tights and eliminated Horowitz just as the match had begun.  Lethal and Killings then proceeded to have quite the match with one another.  Lethal showed his speed advantage, hitting a few high flying moves mixed in with a little bit of a ground game while Killings was using every trick in the book to try and gain a quick victory.  Ron grabbed a hold of the tights several times, putting his feet on the ropes all to no avail.  Lethal kept fighting back and fighting back but in the end Killings just had the edge as he hit the Consequence to take the fall and the victory.  The fans were not happy with the outcome but Killings was quite happy with himself, giving himself a hand after the match.

The first match was a three-way elimination match featuring the debut of Marty Jannetty in GCCW.  Jannetty was wearing a pair of jeans and cowboy boots.  No tassels tonight!  Jannetty looked impressive even at his older age with tons of mileage on his body.  All three men worked well together with Super Calo and Commando squaring off with one another moreso than Jannetty from the start.  Lots of back and forth action with both men hitting some nice moves.  At about the 20 minute mark Super Calo hit a flying crossbody block but Commando rolled through the move and got the three count, eliminating Calo in the process.  Jannetty came right out of the gates, rolling Commando up and almost getting a three count.  Jannetty connected with a series of punches, then hit a nice superkick to the jaw of Commando.  The match looked to be over but Commando got his shoulder up at the 2 9/10ths mark.  Commando ducked underneath a second superkick attempt by Jannetty, hit a backdrop driver then locked in the Commando Clutch.  Jannetty fought hard but ended up giving up after a minute and a half in the hold.

Barry Horowitz was shocked last week to be eliminated so early but bounced back nicely against Shark Boy this week.  Shark Boy has been coming on as of late himself and this was a nice match.  The fans were behind both men and we had a match full of clean breaks, along with several pin attempts.  Horowitz showed his experience advantage by going for pin after pin after pin, even if they were only one counts Horowitz was wearing Shark Boy down and leaning his weight on him to tire him out.  Horowitz won the match in the end with the Horowitz roll-up for the victory.

The next match was entertaining and a great match.  Honky Tonk Man came down to the ring first and did his dance, which didn't illicit much from the fans other than boos.  Joey Ryan came down to the ring next, Brad Armstrong as his second and one-upped Honky by rubbing his chest and mustache, the fans cheering all along.  Honky came out a house of fire, pounding Ryan into the corner and choking him with his boot.  Ryan and HTM gelled very well with one another, going back and forth with Ryan showing that sometimes youth can outdo experience.  Ryan hit Honky with the Mustache Ride and took the victory.  Ryan celebrated with Armstrong after the match while Honky looked very distraught, sulking in the ring.  HTM grabbed his guitar from ringside and drug it behind him to the back, shoulders drooped.

Armstrong and Ryan stayed at ringside as Brad was up next against the very large Scott Norton.  Norton has been on a skid lately and this match was no different.  Armstrong chopped away at the legs of Norton, taking Scott's strength away from him.  Brad continued working over the legs, then moved onto working the neck.  Norton never really gained control throughout the match and ended up getting hit with Armstrong's Russian Legsweep for the loss.  Sweet N' Sour Inc. passed Armstrong and Ryan on their was to the back and all five men stopped and had a few choice words.  Hero was accompanied by his stablemates Larry Sweeney and Matt Striker, who officially joined the faction this week after last week's help from Sweeney and Hero in his victory over Hernandez.

Hero was overpowered by Warlord at the start of the match, getting thrown around like a ragdoll.  After regrouping on the outside along with a thumb to the eye and a well-placed groin kick Hero took over the match.  Hero wore Warlord down and went onto win the match at just under 20 minutes.  SNS Inc. showed they don't care about making any friends after the match as all three men beat on Warlord after the match.  Warlord fought his way back, throwing Sweeney to the outside and colliding Hero and Striker's head with one another.  Warlord made his way out of the ring, knowing that the odds were stacked against him.  SNS Inc. regrouped, Sweeney and Hero staying on the outside for Striker's four-way match that was next.

Killings was the most experienced man in the match, while the other three men are up and comers in their own ways.  Cade took Lethal out first by making him submit to the figure-four leglock.  Lethal was softened up after Killings threw him over the top rope and Jay landed knee first.  Cade was eliminated next several minutes later by Ron Killings, who hit the Consequence.  The fans were not happy to be down to Striker and Killings, as both men are not very liked especially after the past several weeks.  Killings was dominating the matchup until Striker got a thumb to the eye, hit the Golden Rule and pulled Killings' pants just to make sure.  SNS Inc. is on quite the roll since coming to GCCW and can't seem to be stopped.  Striker tried to begin another assault, this time on Ron Killings but stopped as Sid made his way to the ring.  The fans booed Sid on his way down while he just stared towards the ring, scaring the bejeezus out of SNS Inc., Striker especially.  Matt motioned for Larry and Chris to follow him and they made their way to the back through the crowd instead of up the rampway.  Sid stepped over the top rope, the Coastal Championship over his shoulder and a mic in hand.  Sid went on about how the suits once again didn't want him to compete this week, hoping to save up as much as they can for his match against Bob Sapp.  Sid said he didn't care what anyone said, tonight he was competing.  He didn't care who came down from the back, he just wanted to destroy.  Sid waited...and waited.  The fans became restless and wanted anyone to show up.  Kendall Windham made his way down to ringside, hoping to take advantage of the opportunity and maybe gain the Coastal Championship.  The fans were solidly behind Windham but he was no match for Sid.

Sid was on a path of destruction.  He was ruthless throughout the match, totally dominating Windham throughout.  The match lasted a ridiculous amount of time considering the whipping that ensued.  Sid kept up an assault, never going for a pin because he was out to prove more than just victory.  After a considerable amount of time Sid planted Windham with his fourth choke slam of the night.  The fans kept booing while Sid placed one foot on the chest of Kendall, finally ending the match.  Without even breaking as much of a sweat, Sid dominated and laughed his way to the back.

The main event of the evening was up next.  The match came about after last week's matchup between Striker and Hernandez.  Striker got outside help, costing Hernandez a match he more than likely had won.  Hernandez challenged the namesake for SNS Inc. to a match this week and we were on.  Hero and Striker accompanied Sweeney to the ring to take on the bull known as Hernandez.  History repeated itself as Hernandez definitely dominated most of the match, using his tremendous power to take down Sweeney.  Hernandez even attacked Hero and Striker on the outside before they had the chance to get after him.  The fans were wildly behind Hernandez, who has grown a bit of a following the last few weeks.  As far as main event action goes this was well maybe the best main event so far in GCCW.  For all you can say about Sweeney he is a pretty good wrestler, while Hernandez is crazy athletic for his size.  Adding the two together made an interesting mix.

Sweeney worked over the head and neck area of Hernandez while Hernandez worked on Sweeney's arms to take away the threat of the 12 Large Elbow.  Back and forth action had the crowd hyped, stomping the ground and trying to will Hernandez to victory.  Sweeney kicked Hernandez right in the groin, causing the referee to reprimand him and threaten DQ.  While the referee's back was turned Striker grabbed Hernandez by the head while Hero got on the ring apron as well.  Striker jumped down, dropping Hernandez' throat across the top rope while Hero jumped and hit a kick right to the temple of Hernandez' head, causing a sick whiplash.  Larry took quick advantage, using his injured arm regardless to hit his 12 Large Elbow for the victory.  The show ended with fans booing SNS Inc. even more, knowing that these men were stealing victory after victory.

GCCW News and Notes

Sources close to GCCW say that Mark Henry is all but on his way out of the company.  He wants entirely too much money and thinks he deserves a title shot against Sid even though he lost to Bob Sapp in the number one contenders match.  Add this to the fact that he hasn't bothered coming to scheduled cards its all but over between the two sides.

The GCCW is looking into adding a second title but haven't decided on what it may be.  Many GCCW officials would like to hire some more talent but the company has a lot of money tied up into a few of the wrestlers so may only be able to afford independent talent and perhaps a few stars from Mexico.

GCCW has announced that its first "big" card will be upcoming in two weeks from Birmingham, Alabama at the 400 seat venue of Workplay Theatre.  Matches already announced

Match observations:
Tonight was a show filled with a few new faces.  A couple of the men tonight were local wrestlers that were having tryouts with GCCW. Unfortunately the tryouts didn't work out too well.  The first matchup saw two men locals Mason Fury and Patrick Bentley fall to the team of Kendall Windham and Lance Cade.  Cade and Windham had control of the match from the get-go, showing cohesiveness after several matches working with one another.  Fury and Bentley showed their inexperience but did have a few flashes of teamwork.  The crowd was
not very into the match at all and it showed, Windham and Cade finished them off as Kendall hit a bulldog on Bentley to put the match out of its misery.  As Fury and Bentley made their way up the ramp Sweet N Sour Incorporated jumped them for no apparent reason from behind.  Hero hit the Hero's Welcome on Fury on the concrete, leaving
him unconscious.  Striker tripped Bentley and held his arm at his side.  Sweeney then proceeded to do a double stomp right across the forearm of Bentley.  Larry got a foot-hold and started grinding his boot into Bentley's muscle.  Fans at ringside were disgusted, beginning to throw trash at SNS Inc.  Finally Joey Ryan and Brad Armstrong came down from the back and chased SNS Inc. away.  The two youngsters were in obvious pain and GCCW officials came from the back to help lead them to safety.

Barry Horowitz, who in just a week will be taking on Ron Killings in a grudge match was up next against the very talented Super Calo.  The crowd got back into the action as they were extremely hot for this matchup.  Calo was trying to hit an Asai Moonsault but botched the
move and fell to the mat.  Horowitz took advantage, locking on a sleeperhold and gaining a quick victory.

The next matchup was scheduled to be Honky Tonk Man taking on another local wrestler Mudbone.  Honky did indeed come down to the ring but instead of wrestling tonight he announced his full retirement from the
GCCW ring.  He said when you're the King its hard to step away from what you love.  Men who were not better than him were beating him too often and he knew age was catching up to him.  Honky went on to say he
did however find a suitable replacement and introduced Sean Schultz.  Schultz came down to the ring with not much of a crowd response and Honky explained he had saved him from the "broken down, piss ridden and trashy" federation down in Memphis.  Honky said this man is the
future and that he will guide him to the top.  Schultz had a smug look on his face, and attacked Mudbone before the bell rang.  Sean was indeed impressive, quickly disposing of Mudbone fairly quickly after giving him a hellacious beating.  Schultz hit a facebuster onto his knee that looked to break Mudbone's nose on impact.  Schultz put one foot on Mudbone's chest and gained an impressive first victory.

Honky entered the ring after the match and raised Schultz hand in victory.  Both men made their way to the back, talking trash to any fan they could along the way.  Jay Lethal and Shark Boy put on a nice match next, both men running on all cylinders.  Lethal's crisp offense
ended up on top against Shark Boy with Jay finishing him off with a dragon suplex.  The two men shook hands after the match, which brought a loud round of applause from those in attendance.  Up next Scott Norton got back on track, defeating Marty Jannetty at just over the ten minute mark with a devestating powerbomb.  Jannetty looked miffed after the match, banging on the mat and talking to himself on his way to the back.

Ron Killings and Super Commando had easily the best match of the night.  Killings has been on quite the roll after starting off with loss after loss.  The fans haven't taken to Killings much after his recent actions.  Whether it be illegal shots or pulling of the tights to get an advantage, Ron has stopped at nothing to gain victory.  Killings and Commando work well with one another, trading armdrags and going through various near falls.  The match looked to be over when Killings hit the Consequence but Commando kicked out and kept the match alive.  Both men were obviously winded towards the end of the match as the finish ended up being Commando missing a clothesline attempt and Ron ducking underneath and rolling him up in a crucifix for the victory.

Bob Sapp and Warlord ended the night of action in our main event.  Warlord took advantage early on, showing that he could hang with the strength of the Beast.  Sapp had overwhelming crowd support as the fans are really behind Sapp.  Both men had spots of taking over the match but neither really had a big advantage.  Sapp hit a couple of strikes on Warlord, kicking him in the legs and getting him quite gimpy.  Warlord was limping away to the corner and turned around, eating a large Yakuza kick from Sapp that ended the match.  Bob made the "I want the belt" motion again after the match, playing it up to the fans to end the night.

Match observations:

The Battle of Birmingham was upon us and it was quite the night of action.  GCCW officials came out and thanked the fans for coming out tonight.  An announcement was made that Mark Henry had been released from his contract.  They went on, saying they didn't want any rumors started and said to have parted ways with Henry on good terms.  Quickly they went over the card and our first matchup was upon us!  Kendall Windham and Lance Cade are easily the best team in the young tenure of GCCW and a lot of the fans seem to enjoy the tag team action.  Unfortunately for most of them GCCW doesn't have that large of a roster to warrant a tag division but such is life.  Nonetheless they were treated to a nice back and forth match between Windham/Cade and Jannetty/Lethal.  Jannetty showed his tag team prowess, working Cade over methodically and along with Lethal keeping him on their side of the ring.  All four men worked fairly well together but Jannetty/Lethal's obvious disadvantage of time tagging with one another cost them as Lethal was knocked off the apron while talking with Jannetty and Marty was spiked with a bulldog from Windham for the victory.

Super Calo and Super Commando got the crowd insanely fired up for the next match, the heat for this match was amazing.  Nothing but back and forth action the entire match, both men were going full-bore and all out.  Calo kept hitting frankensteiner after frankensteiner and even got planted out of one with a sit-out powerbomb by Commando.  Commando fought back with a series of strikes and more of a mat-based style to try and ground Calo.  The match ended at just over the 10 minute mark when Calo hit another Frankensteiner to gain victory.

The heat died down a bit for the next match was Schultz just hasn't gotten over much with the fans.  Norton and Warlord have a past history going from being tag partners to fighting with one another.  All three men looked good in the match, with Norton dominating the early going.  Schultz kept hanging on, obviously out-powered by both men and getting thrown around like a ragdoll.  Schultz used his head though, moving out of the way when Norton came running into the corner for an Avalanche.  Scott fell to the mat with his wind knocked out and Schultz hit Warlord with a series of elbows to the groin, rendering Warlord useless and gaining a tainted victory.  Fans were yelling at the referee for not seeing but he was distracted by checking on Norton, who was trying in vain to catch his breath in the corner.  Schultz quickly exited the ring after his victory, snatching his arm away from a few fans that were trying to touch him.  HTM looked pleased after the match, leading his protege to the back.

Horowitz and Killings came up next and delivered the match of the night.  The fans were obviously behind Barry while booing Killings over and over again.  This all started when Killings and Horowitz had a great match that ended up in a 20 minute draw, both men wanted a shot at the other again but instead they were entered in a three-way dance against Jay Lethal, who Killings had attacked the same night.  Horowitz was cheap shotted by Killings and taken out of the match in less than a minute and wanted his revenge.  Tonight, revenge was Barry's.  Both men fought all out obviously, with Killings continually trying to put Horowitz out.  For the second card in a row someone kicked out of Ron's Consequence, thus frustrating him even more.  The fans exploded at the end of the match as Horowitz came out of nowhere with a superkick, nailing Killings right in the jaw and sending his eyes rolling to the back of his head.  Three seconds later and the fans were as loud as they had been tonight with applause for the man who does deserve a pat on the back-- Barry Horowitz.

The next matchup wasn't bad by any means but didn't live up to the expectations some felt that it could exceed.  Fans were definitely into the match, screaming throughout the entire thing.  SNS Inc. works well with one another, using cheap tactics to gain the advantage.  Hernandez wouldn't tag out for a while as he wanted revenge on every member of SNS Inc.  Ryan and Armstrong would call for Hernandez to tag out but he kept himself in the ring until he felt justified.  Justification lasted almost 20 minutes as Hernandez dominated the first half of the match in ring-time.  After knocking Sweeney and Hero off the apron Hernandez hit The Border Toss on Striker to gain the first fall for his team.  From this point forward there were a lot of tags in and out from both teams, with neither gaining a great advantage.  The match was tied up with Hero hitting Joey Ryan with the Hero's Welcome.  SNS Inc. started laughing and celebrating with one another while Armstrong and Hernandez tried to get Ryan up and awake.  The next ten minutes saw Brad Armstrong fight the match of his life.  He willed his team to victory, stopping numerous pin attempts that could've ended in three and schooling Larry Sweeney one-on-one.  Both men were extremely winded by this point but Armstrong kept out-smarting him with reversals.  Sweeney's hot head got the best of him as he kept arguing with the referee on what was going on.  Armstrong hit his Russian Legsweep and locked both legs up, not giving Larry any chance of kicking out.  Ryan and Hernandez stopped Hero and Striker from stopping the count and the match was over. The fans popped extremely loud, making the crowd of just over 400 sound three times that much.  Armstrong hugged Ryan and shook hands with Hernandez after the match, while Hero and Striker drug Sweeney's body out from the ring.  Matt grabbed a bottle of water, pouring it over Sweeney's head to get him out of the trance-like state he was in.  Sweeney was furious on the outside and as the three men made their way up the ramp they pointed back up at the ring.

Our main event was up next and the fans seemed emotionally drained after the last match-up.  "The Beast" Bob Sapp came out first, looking all business and ready to take on Sid.  The fans cheered loudly for Sapp as he made his way down to the ring.  Sid made his way out to the ring next, looking more crazy than ever.  Clumps of Sid's hair were pulled out, causing dried up splotches of blood to cover various parts of his head.  Sid carried the belt loosely at his side, one end dragging the arena floor.  Fans rained boos down Sid who just made his way to the ring with a wide-eyed look etched on his face.  The match itself wasn't much to write home about but the aftermath was.  Sapp looked like he would take early control of the match as he took Sid down and hit a series of mounted punches across the face of the Psycho one.  Sid looked even more beaten down but did indeed come back and fight his way back.  The fans were all over Sid the entire match, booing him rabidly.  The Beast fought his way back and dominated most of the match.  Sid however had other plans, kicking Sapp right in the junk and nailing a vicious power bomb that bounced Sapp's head off the mat.  Sid didn't feel this was enough however and showed incredible strength, lifting Sapp up again and dropping him down with another power bomb.  This finished Sapp off, much to the dismay of the crowd.  What happened next will go down in GCCW history.  Sid grabbed the belt and stared at it for a moment, then he began tearing away at his hair right in the ring!  Some fans continued booing, others stood silent watching a man have a mental breakdown in the ring.  The booing turned to cheering, seeming to snap Sid right out of his trance as Ron Simmons limped his way from the back!

Simmons, who was injured by Sid several months back hobbled his way to the ring, obviously still getting over the injuries sustained.  Sid just laughed, throwing the title to the ground and looking ready for Simmons.  Sapp, on the other hand rose himself up from the mat and looked in amazement as Ron made his way to the ring.  Simmons began going through the middle rope and Sid tried to attack, Sapp kicked him in the leg however and ended those plans quickly.  Simmons got into the ring and began waylaying Sid with stiff punches to the face.  Sid's face quickly bloodied while Sapp grabbed Simmons off of the Psycho one.  Sid just continued to laugh and stood back up.  Ron kicked him in the stomach and got him between the legs, with a little bit of help from Bob Sapp the two men hit a spiked dominator that laid Sid out flat.  The fans continued cheering while Simmons celebrated in the ring with Sapp.  After a few minutes Sid made his way to his feet, pulling himself up with the ropes.  He looked over at his title and shook his head, walking away and to the back.  Fans booed him along his way, blood running from an open cut over his eye from Ron Simmons and other blood from self-inflicted tears in his scalp.  Before getting to the exit of the theatre Sid turned and screamed as loud as he could "I QUIIIIIT!"  The fans reacted in half-shock and others cheering wildly.  Simmons and Sapp both looked confused in the ring and the show was over.

OOC Notes:  TNM threw me a curveball and right after I ran the results Sid quit, effective immediately.  We'll see what happens but that is the wonder of TNM, an undefeated champion quits a fed up and out of the blue.  Gotta love it.

Good opener. Tag matches can always start shows off good and the four guys you put in their play off of each other well. Would like to see Cade in a starring singles role and would like to see Jay Lethal get involved in a hot angle.

Still not a fan of Horowitz but as long as he wrestling Killings I'll be cheering for him.

That six man has so much potential on paper. I would think it may have gotten a higher ranking had it been a bit shorter, but I'm not sure. That babyface team is extraordinary though.

As for Sid quitting, yeah, typical TNM. I wasn't a fan of him much anyway. This opens a huge opportunity for the guys on the roster. Plus with Simmons looking to make a comeback the championship scene is gonna be hotter than ever while it's vacant!

Match observations:

The 16-man tournament for the vacant GCCW Coastal Championship begun tonight and delivered on all accounts.  Fans in Biloxi were fired up, as a crowd of just over 250 cheered and booed some of the best pure wrestling action GCCW has put out since its inception.  After Sid shockingly left the company at Battle of Birmingham it was time to "hop back on the saddle" if you will and get it going.

Our first matchup featured four men not in the tournament but that did not harpen their willingness to work.  Jannetty, Lethal, Super Commando, and Super Calo had a very fast paced match that started the night off wonderfully.  Fans were fired up for the match with Jannetty gaining another strong victory, hitting the Showstopper on a man he teamed with at Battle of Birmingham--Jay Lethal.  All four of the men were good sports after the match, the three losers patting Jannetty on the back.  Always nice to see that.

The rest of the matches for the night were first round matchups in the tournament.  Windham and Warlord faced off and the match result was quite the surprise as Kendall pinned Warlord after a bulldog.  Warlord dominated most of the match but Windham spiked Warlord's head off the mat and proved to be the better man tonight.  Ron Simmons made his official return to the ring next, facing off against SNS Inc. Member Matt Striker.  Simmons brought a lot of emotion into the ring and was the victor, defeating Striker in just under 15 minutes with The Dominator.

Next-up was the other half of the Windham/Cade team in Lance Cade facing off against Ron "The Truth" Killings.  Cade didn't advance in the tournament like his partner but did put up quite the fight.  Killings becamse frustrated after getting over-powered by the larger Cade and trying to use cheap tactics to gain the advantage.  The referee warner Killings who begrudgingly stopped but got angrier as the match came along.  Killings hit The Consequence two times, Cade kicking out both times before finally nailing it perfectly and getting the victory.  Killings kicked on Cade after the match, showing his angry and bitter side while the fans booed.  Ron left the ring and Lance arose to a nice round of applause from the fans for his effort tonight.

Chris Hero and Joey Ryan had a great matchup next, each man showing off their skills.  Hero's high impact offense inevitably lead him to victory, much to the chagrin of the crowd.  Ryan fell victim to the Hero's Welcome in what some would call the Match of the Night.  A rematch from a past week's show was up next with Hernandez taking on Scott Norton.  The same result as last time resulted again with Hernandez showing a lot of focus and determination.  The crowd was solidly in Hernandez' corner and he dominated the mamtch.  Norton hardly got any offense in before being lifted up and hit with the Border Toss to send Hernandez to the quarter-finals.

For one of the first times in his life Barry Horowitz had to be the favorite going into our next matchup but unfortunately for him he fell at the hands of Sean Schultz.  Horowitz gave it his all but as he took control of the match and came off the ropes Honky Tonk Man grabbed his ankle from behind.  It didn't take Barry down but did keep him distracted enough for Schultz to come up from behind, spin him around and hit a devestating facebuster onto the knee for victory.  Schultz celebrated with Honky after the match, HTM pointing to his head to show how smart he was for helping Sean to victory.  The fans were not pleased and booed the men as they walked to the back.  Horowitz slapped at the mat in frustration, knowing a golden opportunity had passed him by.

James Storm made his GCCW debut next in quite the fashion, upsetting the former #1 contender Bob Sapp.  The Beast threw Storm around like a ragdoll throughout the match and it looked like he would be the victor.  Unfortunately Storm found a way to gain what he wanted.  James threw all his body weight into Sapp, slightly knocking him back and into the referee.  The ref fell to the mat, prompting Sapp to check on him.  Many fans screamed for Sapp to turn around and when he did he was greeted with a beer bottle across the face, busting him open immediately.  Storm took the jagged pieces of the bottle and stabbed Sapp in his wound, grinding up against it and causing blood to just pour down his face.  Light-headed and in pain, Sapp began to fall out but fell to just one knee.  Storm awoke the referee, who shook the cobwebs loose and made the pin count while James rolled Sapp up, put his feet on the ropes for leverage and cheated his way to the next round.

Our main event of the evening was quite the matchup as Brad Armstrong took on "Sweet N' Sour" Larry Sweeney.  These two men have quite the budding feud so far in GCCW and the tension was in the air.  There was no division amongst the crowd as 90% of the people in attendance were behind Armstrong.  Sweeney had a small crowd following but the fans were hanging on Armstrong's every move.  Both men tried to one-up the other with various reversals and mat wrestling moves to start the match.  Armstrong took control with a side headlock and kept the match on the mat for about 5 minutes.  Sweeney came back with a flurry of offense and took control of the match for the next 10 minutes, Larry became increasingly frustrated after numerous pin attempts were kicked out of by Armstrong.  At about the twenty minute mark Sweeney hit his 12 Large Elbow for what looked like victory.  A few fans already began throwing trash at Sweeney but Armstrong kicked out at 2.9 to a loud response from the arena.  Armstrong fought his way back, then was cut off with an eye poke.  Sweeney tried again for his 12 Large Elbow, Armstrong rolled out of the way, picked Larry up and hit the Russian Legsweep, locking Sweeney's legs up and gaining a victory.  The crowd got very loud, cheering Armstrong on as he let out a big sigh of relief after the match.  Sweeney came to after the match, and hit Armstrong from behind with an elbow.  Brad fell to the floor on the outside and Sweeney posed in the ring as the show ended.

Match observations:

Our 2nd stop in New Orleans had more at stake than the first.  A crowd of about 225 came down to watch GCCW stars in action.  Our opening contest was a quarter-final matchup between Hernandez, who took out Scott Norton in the first round and Sean Schultz who got a surprise victory over Barry Horowitz with the help of his manager and mentor Honky Tonk Man.  Hernandez is a man on a mission and overpowered the young Schultz.  Honky Tonk looked to interfere several times but was punched off the apron by Hernandez and shot a few looks towards HTM to keep him out of the match.  Schultz tried to get the upper-hand with eye pokes, legs on the ropes, and even a low blow attempt but Hernandez just keep coming and coming.  Hernandez finished him off in just under 8 minutes and was the first man to move into the semi-finals.

Speaking of Horowitz, he was up next against Marty Jannetty, who last week defeated three other men to get on the right track.  Horowitz was all business, trying to wear Jannetty down.  Both men have countless matches under their belts and it showed, with neither getting a huge advantage.  Horowitz hit his Horowitz Roll Up out of nowhere and got the victory, shaking Jannetty's hand after the match.  The next quarter-final matchup was maybe the Match of the Year in GCCW so far.  Ron "The Truth" Killings and Chris Hero both wanted this match and it showed.  Neither man would let the other take advantage and although Chris Hero is definitely the better technical wrestler of the two Killings used his high-flying arsenal to ease off Hero's advantage.  Chris became increasingly frustrated as Killings kicked out of several high impact moves.  Hero looked to gain victory after hitting the Hero's Welcome but unfortunately for him he hit it a little too close to the ropes and Killings got his hand on the rope.  After several pin attempts to wear Ron down Hero was caught slipping and hit with The Consequence to get knocked out of the GCCW Coastal Championship tournament.

Although usually a non-fan favorite the fans took the lesser of two evils here and cheered Killings for his victory.  After the match while recovering the rest of SNS Inc. came down to the ring and a three on one beatdown ensued.  Killings was really getting laid into until the team of Super Calo and Super Commando came down to the ring.  SNS Inc. scurried out of the ring while Calo/Commando checked on Killings.  Calo and Commando waved Sweeney and Striker into the ring and we had ourselves an impromptu tag match on hand.  Calo and Commando worked extremely well together, both men with a lot of talent.  Sweeney kept getting out of the ring, leaving Striker high and dry and not seeming to want a piece of either man.  Larry did get in the ring at about the 8 minute mark and tried to slow the high flying Calo down.  Sweeney worked over a side headlock that Calo fought out of before nailing a Frankensteiner on Sweeney.  Commando tagged in and hit a nice Michinoku Driver for 2.9.  Larry tagged out to Striker, who came in and got worked over by both men.  Super Commando locked on his Commando Clutch while Calo knocked Sweeney off the apron and SNS Inc. garnered another loss.  After starting out so hot the three men haven't had much luck lately.

The third quarter-final matchup was next and one of the most highly anticipated amongst the crowd it seemed.  Everyone was behind Brad Armstrong in this match against the newly acquired GCCW wrestler James Storm.  These two had quite the fight, Storm trying to brawl with Armstrong and Brad wanting to keep it a wrestling match.  Storm dominated most of the match but couldn't get anything more than a two count on Brad.  Storm ended up losing the match by jawing with a fan at ringside, then getting caught in a perfect small package for three.  Storm was livid after the match while most of the audience laughed at him and cheered Armstrong on.  Brad had a big smile on his face, advancing to the semi-finals to take on Hernandez.  The fans enjoyed the next match immensely as two fan favorites, "Magnum" Joey Ryan and Jay Lethal went one-on-one.  Ryan kept to the ground for the matchup for the most part while Lethal used his high flying moves to take early advantage.  Joey worked over Lethal's back with a backbreaker and a rear-chinlock with digging his knee in Lethal's lower back.  Ryan took to the top rope only once in the match and that was at the end, hitting a flying cross-body block for the three count.

Ron Simmons took on Kendall Windham in our main event for the final semi-final spot.  Windham had an impressive victory over Warlord in Biloxi while Simmons took down Sweet N' Sour Inc. member Matt Striker.  Although Simmons still seems to favor his neck after coming back from his injury at the hands of Sid.  Simmons started the match off very slow, getting taken to school by Kendall Windham.  Kendall worked over the heavier Simmons, even going with a few neck cranks and knees to the back to work over the injured area.  Ron ended up fighting back with a few well-placed right hands, hitting a spinebuster for two and a running powerslam for 2.9.  Windham rolled Simmons up and almost got the victory but Ron came back with a kick to the stomach and a Dominator to lay Windham out and cement the semi-finals for the GCCW Coastal Championship.  The crowd cheered Ron on afterwards, clapping at his performance.  He favored his neck and back as the show ended.

GCCW News!

The semi-finals for are in place and at our next event in Tyler, Texas we will see both semi-final matchups along with other action.

Ron Simmons
[vs]
Ron "The Truth" Killings

Simmons has fought his way through Matt Striker and Kendall Windham to gain his semi-final spot and looks to keep his roll of victories going up against Ron "The Truth" Killings.  Killings has defeated Lance Cade and Chris Hero on his way to the semi-finals.  The battle of GCCW's two Rons should be highly interesting!

Hernandez
[vs]
Brad Armstrong

Men who were six-man tag partners not too long ago will square off against one another.  Hernandez has fought his way through Scott Norton and Sean Schultz towards the semi-finals while Armstrong has had arguably the toughest road so far by defeating Larry Sweeney and Lance Storm.  Will Hernandez' size advantage keep him on his roll or will the experience of Armstrong come through?

Match observations:
Tonight was highly anticipated as we would find out who would fight it out for the vacant GCCW Coastal Championship next week in Dallas.  Six-man tag action started the evening off with the team of Kendall Windham, Lance Cade, and Sean Schultz earning victory over Marty Jannetty, Jay Lethal, and Shark Boy.  The crowd was into it for a first match and was excited when it looked like the face team would win.  Jannetty hit the Showstopper on Sean Schultz but the count was broken up by Lance Cade.  Pandemonium broke loose in the ring with all six men fighting with one another.  Shark Boy was thrown from the ring and to the cement on the outside and followed out by Cade.  Lance hit a powerbomb right onto the hard ground and rolled Shark Boy into the ropes.  The referee got mixed up during the frenzy and counted the three count from Cade after a hard forearm to the back of Shark Boy.

Bob Sapp came down to the ring next with a very pissed off look on his face.  He ignored any show of support from the fans at ringside and got into the ring quickly.  At just a minute he decimated his opponent Mudbone with a Yakuza kick, got the victory and walked right out.  The fans were puzzled with the actions.  Chris Hero took on Super Calo next and looked to avenge his stablemates loss to Calo and Commando on the last show.  Hero may have lost to Killings last week but showed why he is a contender tonight defeating Super Calo.  Both men went back and forth with Calo trying to gain victory through the air.  Hero used his vast array of moves and finished Super Calo off with the Hero's Welcome.

Barry Horowitz looked good in his matchup with Scott Norton next.  Norton has been on quite the skid lately, not having much luck in matches.  Scott didn't have much luck in this match either as he took a bad fall from the ring apron to the floor and looked to have injured his ribs.  He clutched at his side and was counted out by the referee.  Norton looked to be having trouble breathing and had to be helped to the back after the match.  The next matchup was quite the heated battle as Joey Ryan took on James Storm.  Storm was taken out by the man that Ryan has been teaming up with in Brad Armstrong and seemed to be pretty teed off at the fact.  Neither man wanted to lose to the other and in the end neither did.  Storm looked to gain the advantage with his brawling while Joey Ryan tried to keep the match in the ring.  There were several close calls but in the end the 20 minute time limit was just not enough to decide a victor.  The fans wanted more time, as did both competitors but our referee decided to call the match a draw.  Storm tried attacking Ryan after the match but Joey backdropped him over the top rope to a loud reaction.

Our first semi-final matchup was next with the "Battle of the Rons".  Both Simmons(RS) and Killings(RK) were on top of their game, The Truth ran circles around Simmons early on in the match, using his speed to his advantage.  Simmons took control after about 5 minutes, hitting some high impact offense to ground Killings.  RK hit a low blow and an eye gouge and got a near fall with a picture perfect dropkick to the jaw of RS.  The fans were definitely behind Simmons in the match and showed it throughout, it looked like Killings was going to try and lift the much larger Simmons up for the Consequence but failed and was hit with the Dominator out of nowhere to send Simmons to the finals.  The fans let out a loud pop as Simmons pulled out the victory!  Killings was highly upset after the match when he regained his composure and kicked at the ropes, knowing an opportunity had slipped his fingers.

The match of the night was our main event between the hoss Hernandez against the cagey veteran Brad Armstrong.  These men teamed up with one another against Sweet N Sour Incorporated but this match was for a shot at the title and both men threw that out the window.  A handshake was exchanged at the beginning of the match but Hernandez brought Armstrong in with a kick to the stomach.  From this point forward the fans were wildly booing Hernandez and cheering Armstrong to victory.  Hernandez started with a hellacious beatdown of Armstrong, just showing his sheer strength and throwing Brad all over the ring.  Many of the young fans in attendance were shreeking with how easily Hernandez picked Armstrong apart.  For atleast the first 10-12 minutes of the match Hernandez just kicked the hell out of Armstrong.  It looked to be over at several points but Armstrong continued to kick out.  The fans were loudly banging on their chairs and on their feet trying to will Armstrong back.  Brad did begin fighting his way back, kicking and punching at Hernandez and trying to work over his head and neck area.  Armstrong dug into Hernandez with a rear chinlock and hit a couple of knees right to the shoulderblade/base of the neck area to warm him up for his Russian Legsweep finisher.  Hernandez did fight his way back as well and even hit a Border Toss at the 19 minute mark.  The fans roared when Armstrong put his foot on the ropes right before the three count.  This frustrated Hernandez even more, causing him to argue with the referee and give Armstrong enough time to recover.  Brad did recover and hit a kick to the back of Hernandez, sending him slouching to the mat.  A few more well placed knees to the back kept softening him up for the finish.  Hernandez tried to come back with a running powerslam but Armstrong slipped free and pushed Hernandez into the ring corner, after the big man hit chest first Brad came over and hooked onto him, hitting the Russian Legsweep and hooking both legs and clutching at the neck area for the pin and victory!  Everyone was extremely happy and Armstrong celebrated the win with a huge smile.

When he got to his feet Hernandez had a wild look on his face and hit Armstrong with a big boot to the back, sending Armstrong tumbling into the corner.  Brad looked up in fear at Hernandez who looked out to the crowd who was booing him incessantly.  After several seconds of staring off into space it gave Armstrong enough time to slip under the bottom rope and to the outside.  Hernandez pointed at Armstrong after the match, nodding his head before smashing his fists into one another.  The night ended on this note.

GCCW News!

In a startling development Bob Sapp walked out on the company after his match, telling GCCW officials he would not be back.  Sources close to GCCW say Sapp was angry over financial matters and thought he was worth more money than he had been receiving.

Scott Norton tore his ribcage against Barry Horowitz and will sit out until he is fully healed, GCCW does not want to risk the health of any of its wrestlers.

Sean Morley, more commonly known to wrestling fans as WWF/E's Val Venis has signed a contract with GCCW and will be debuting on the next show.  Morley will be wrestling under his real name.

GCCW is in talks with some talent from Mexico and wants to bolster its roster, which has had quite the turnover as of late.

The GCCW Coastal Championship match is scheduled for our next show in Dallas, Texas.  It will be Ron Simmons versus Brad Armstrong.  Also signed for the card is a re-match between Joey Ryan and James Storm.

Wow Bob Sapp left right after Sid did! That must hurt. You gotta love TNM and it's completely random nature. I was eventually planning on bringing  Test and Val Venis in the CWA, under their respective names. TNA beat me to Test and you beat me to Venis. I'll be interested to see what Venis' role is in GCCW as he is one of my personal real life favorites.

Keep it up.
VertigoPosted on 08/03/07 at 17:07:24

Ah, I was pushing for Hernandez to get into the finals but oh well. I was liking James Storm too after he beat Bob Sapp. But Simmons and Armstrong in the finals works. I'm going to have to pick Simmons.

As for Sapp leaving... good riddance I say!

Bringing in Morley and some lucha talent will definatly bring up the roster. May a cruiserweight title will soon be added because you've got a lot of good talent that could compete in a division like that. Lethal, Jannetty, Shark, Calo, even Horowitz.

Match observations:

GCCW held their first show in Dallas and it was quite the success.  It was the biggest live audience for a GCCW show as 447 paid and were treated to one of the best shows in the federation's short history.  Our opening matchup saw debuting Sean Morley take out Marty Jannetty.  These two worked well with one another but the match was interrupted by Lance Cade, who maybe carrying heat from last week's six man tag match in which Jannetty and he were on separate teams decided to stick his nose into the match.  Cade tripped Jannetty from the outside and almost drew a DQ win for Jannetty.  Marty and Sean asked the referee to let the match continue while banning Cade to the back, the referee went with this decision and the match continued on.  Morley hit a Fisherman Suplex but lost the bridge at about 2 3/4, after showing a little bit of frustration from the mix-up he hit several elbow shots to Jannetty and gained the pinfall victory.  Some people in the crowd knew Morley from his long stint in WWE but others didn't know who he was.

The tag team match next featured the team of Windham and Cade versus Jay Lethal and Shark Boy.  Neither Lethal or Shark Boy have had much success so far in GCCW and the frustration really showed on the face of Jay Lethal in this match.  Lethal couldn't get into the ring fast enough to break up the pin on his tag team partner and this allowed Windham and Cade to earn another victory.  Kendall and Lance have been the most successful team in GCCW's history so far and look to not be slowing down.  If a stronger tag division were ever to form these two could be centerpieces.

A winner still wasn't decided between James Storm and Joey Ryan.  Last week the two men fought to a twenty minute draw and this week both men were counted out while brawling viciously on the outside.  This match had a lot of heat and the fans were definitely into it.  Several near falls in the ring with back and forth action mixed in.  Ryan showed a lot of fire, standing toe-to-toe with Storm in the brawling department when it is definitely more of a comfort zone for James.  These two will have to settle their differences in the future and the fans are ready to see it.

The next match was a rematch from the GCCW Coastal Championship tournament and we got the same finish as in the tournament with Sean Schultz defeating Barry Horowitz, only this time it wasn't as much of a match as before.  Horowitz looked out of it as a whole and Schultz looked to just want it more.  Another impressive victory for the protege of the Honky Tonk Man.  Sweet N' Sour Inc. earned a victory over the team of Ron Killings, Super Calo, and Super Commando.  After suffering defeat at the hands of Calo and Commando and Killings taking Hero out of the Coastal Championship tournament you could tell that SNS wanted this badly.  Each team worked well with one another but the cohesiveness of SNS Inc. proved to be the most valuable as they won with a 12 Large Elbow from Sweeney.  The fans were not amused after the match as Striker tried to unmask Calo while he was down on the mat, Commando and Killings were being held back by Hero and Sweeney for a moment but did break through and stop Striker before he could unmask Calo.

Everyone was ready for the main event, especially both competitors.  The fans cheered both men as they came to the ring and the feeling in the building was electric.  Before the match started Armstrong extended his hand to Simmons, Ron looked around for a few seconds but returned the shake and our new GCCW Coastal Champion was to be crowned shortly.  There was a slow feeling out process from the beginning, as both veterans looked to find holes in the other's attack.  Simmmons showed his power advantage from the get-go, getting the best of Armstrong in a test of strength and shoulderblocking him to the mat.  Armstrong countered with his wrestling ability, locking Simmons in a combination of front facelocks, hammerlocks, and chinlocks.  The crowd increased its buzz as the match went on, Simmons getting close to hitting the Dominator several times but failing as Armstrong had went on a flurry of strikes to the lower and upper back of Simmons.

Ron did hit a spinebuster that looked to be the end but Brad kicked out right before the referee's hand hit the mat.  Armstrong hit his Russian Legsweep out of nowhere and got a 2 7/8 count.  Instead of panicking and arguing, Brad picked Simmons up and hit another Russian Legsweep for the victory.  The fans jumped out of their seats, cheering Armstrong who slumped down to the mat and looked overjoyed from the victory.  Joey Ryan came from the back and congratulated Armstrong, helping him attach the Coastal Championship around his waist.  The fans cheered Ron Simmons as he got to his feet, clutching at his back and grimacing in pain.  Simmons looked angry for a few moments but did go over to Brad and shake his hand while Armstrong was in celebration.  The show ended with our new champ in the ring pumping his fist.

Match observations:

Brad Armstrong opened the show tonight in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He came out before the opening contest and thanked the fans for all their support over the years.  Armstrong went on to list all of the territories he's wrestled in and said most had him written off for dead and that he would have no shot at his age to do anything more in the wrestling business.  Brad said the "Armstrong curse" has been lifted, he raised the GCCW Coastal Championship into the air to a roaring approval from the crowd.

Jannetty and Cade started our show out tonight, this match was signed after Cade interfered in Jannetty's match with the debuting Sean Morley last week.  Tempers flared from the get-go as Lanc stepped into the ring and slapped Jannetty across the face.  Marty came back and tried scrapping with the much larger and younger Cade but lost the battle in the end.  Jannetty came back strong though, using his veteran ring presence to take advantage of a few Cade mistakes.  After Lance missed a clothesline attempt Jannetty hit a superkick right to the jaw of Cade to earn himself a nice victory.

The crowd was hot for the next match as last week Matt Striker tried to rip the mask off of the tag team partner of Super Commando--Super Calo.  Commando stepped up to the plate and wanted to fight for the honor of his partner while Striker looked to gain some steam in the singles division.  Striker showed a mean streak in this match that he hasn't shown so far in his tenure.  He kept aggressively choking Commando and holding on until the four count along with closed fist punches right to the masked face of Commando.  Super Commando did get some offense in and had one near fall after a hurracanrana but Striker ultimately won with The Golden Rule.  Striker looked to try and rip the mask off of Commando this time but he was torn away by the referee who subdued him before he could finish the job.  Most people in attendance booed Striker and showed they didn't like his actions.

Jay Lethal and Shark Boy just can't catch a break as a team.  It looks like these two would be better off in singles competition and the frustration level continues to show on the face of Lethal.  Hero and Sweeney of SNS Inc. took them to school in this match, keeping Shark Boy on their side of the corner with in and out tags and various double-team moves before the five count and behind the referee's back when they could coerce Lethal to come in.  Hero spiked Shark Boy with the Hero's Welcome, ending the match before Lethal could get in much at all.  Hernandez continues to impress with a decisive victory over Kendall Windham.  The match started off fairly even but Hernandez seemed to get more and more angry as the match went on and he took this anger out on Windham.  After a spinebuster and a powerslam Hernandez pulled Windham's head up after a near three count and pointed towards the back.  Hernandez got him in position for the Border Toss and made the "wanting the belt" motion before picking Windham up and throwing him across the ring violently to the mat with the Border Toss.  The fans booed Hernandez as he walked to the back, seemingly happy with the result.

An elimination triangle match was next up with Sean Morley taking on Super Calo and Sean Schultz.  All three men looked fired up and ready for the match before the bell.  During the match all had flashes of brilliance with Calo showing off his high-flying ability, Morley showing more of an in-ring presence, and Schultz showing off his athletic ability.  Schultz' inexperience cost him in the end as he was the first one eliminated after a Calo Top-Rope Headscissors.  Calo and Morley didn't waste much time going after one another for the end of the match and just a few minutes later Calo fell victim to a fisherman's suplex by Morley that he held the bridge of this time for the three count.  Morley shook Calo's hand after the match, gaining a round of cheers from those in attendance at the show of good sportsmanship.

Our main event of the evening featured four men who have a budding history with one another.  On one side of the ring you had James Storm teaming up with Ron Killings to take on Joey Ryan and Barry Horowitz.  Killings and Horowitz had a run of matches early on in GCCW while Joey Ryan and James Storm have been battling the last few weeks with one another.  Several times throughout the match both teams had little blips of miscommunication from not teaming with one another before.  Whenever Joey Ryan and James Storm got into the ring with one another the action was highly heated and consisted mostly of brawling around the ring and spilling over onto the floor several times.  Horowitz and Killings pulled their teammates back in, neither of them wanting a no decision for this match.  Storm actually hit Ryan over the head with a beer bottle, busting him wide open while the referee was arguing with Ron Killings.  Killings took the opportunity to tag himself in, picking the body of Ryan up and off the mat and hitting the Consequence for the victory.  Storm knocked Horowitz off the ring apron, sending Barry crashing to the outside.  Killings and Storm celebrated their victory while Ryan lay bloodied and in a heap in the ring.

Match Observations(MO):  Morley gained another impressive victory, this time over Shark Boy.  The man from 10,000 leagues under the sea just can't get it together in GCCW, losing at almost every turn but the fans are still solidly behind him.  Morley's reactions have gotten increasingly better.

Rating: *** 1/2

MO:  This match ran a little long but the fans were pretty hot throughout.  Cade and Jannetty have been back and forth with one another while Killings and Horowitz have feuded off and on for the entire run of GCCW so far so all men competing wanted to win.  Horowitz pulled out the victory after Killings was knocked to the mat by a Lance Cade boot to the face.  Barry clotheslined Cade over the top and got the victory while Jannetty went down to brawl with Lance on the outside.

Joey Ryan pinned Kendall Windham with the Mustache Ride in 0:07:36.
Rating: *** 1/4
[James Storm interfered against Joey Ryan.]

MO:  Nice victory for Joey Ryan, he showed that he is levels above Windham currently while Kendall seems to work best as a tag team wrestler.  Ryan dominated most of the match and finished Windham off with the Mustache Ride.  Early on in the match Storm came to ringside and kept trying to interfere in the match, getting onto the apron and eventually slapping Ryan across the face.  Joey looked furious but continued his match.  Afterwards the fans cheered while Ryan chased Storm to the back.

Jay Lethal pinned Larry Sweeney after a vertical facebuster in 0:14:31.
Rating: *** 3/4

MO:  In what had to be considered an upset Jay Lethal took Larry Sweeney out in an excellent match.  The Sweet N' Sour one swore up and down with the referee that it was only a two count after falling to Lethal but the referee was having none of that.  The fans laughed at Sweeney and cheered Lethal on for his biggest victory so far in GCCW.

Sweet 'N' Sour Incorporated (Chris Hero and Matt Striker) defeated Super Calo and Super Commando when Striker defeated Commando by countout in 0:07:33.
Rating: ** 3/4

MO:  Chris Hero worked over the knees of Super Commando in this tag matchup for the first half, Calo and Striker went after one another with a few nearfalls that almost brought home the win for the lucha tag team.   Commando got back into the ring and was thrown over the top by Matt Striker, he landed awkwardly on his knee when he hit the outside and was counted out.  Super Calo was by his partner's side on the outside and looked concerned for Commando's health.  Striker and Hero tried to attack the fallen competitor after the match but Calo kept them at bay with a chair.  The heat between Calo/Commando and SNS Inc. continues to rise.

Hernandez defeated Sean Schultz by countout in 0:02:24.
Rating: ** 3/4

MO: This wasn't much of a match as Hernandez threw Schultz to the outside with The Border Toss and stood in the ring, pointing towards the back and making the "I want the belt" motion.  This isn't the first time Hernandez has done this and it looks as though he thinks he deserves a shot.  Whether he gets one or not we will see in the future.

Brad Armstrong pinned James Storm after a legsweep in 0:15:36.
Rating: *** 1/2

MO:  Our main event of the evening was a non-title affair between Brad Armstrong and James Storm.  Storm has been in quite the battles with Armstrong's ally Joey Ryan and Brad made the challenge to Storm for the match tonight.  These two went back and forth just like their matchup in the tournament for the title.  Unfortunately for Storm the result was the same as last time as Armstrong pulled out the victory with a legsweep that caused Storm's head to bounce off the mat and render him unable to kickout before the three count.

GCCW: Jackson, MS

Chris Hero pinned Marty Jannetty with the Hero's Welcome in 0:06:00.
Rating: ** 1/4

MO:  Jannetty was clearly outclassed in this match as Hero dominated the entire length only allowing a small bit of offense out of Marty.  Hero spiked Jannetty with the Hero's Welcome and gained an easy victory.

Triangle Match:
Jay Lethal defeated Shark Boy and Sean Schultz when Lethal pinned Shark Boy
with the Dragon Suplex in 0:09:02.
Rating: *** 1/4

MO:  Lethal looked impressive once again tonight, defeating his usual tag partner Shark Boy and Honky Tonk Man protege Sean Schultz.  Schultz looked to get the victory after hitting his facebuster onto the knee of Shark Boy but Lethal dropkicked Schultz in the back of the head, sending him over the top rope and hit a Dragon Suplex on Shark Boy for the victory.  Lethal's confidence is rising as he celebrated in the ring, looking highly pleased with himself.

Ron Simmons pinned Kendall Windham with the Dominator in 0:04:09.
Rating: ** 3/4

MO:  Ron Simmons looked strong after his last match up in the GCCW Coastal Championship finals.  Windham started the match off aggressively but was stopped by a Simmons spinebuster.  Ron took the wind right out of Windham and gained the victory in just over four minutes with the Dominator.

Lance Cade pinned Sean Morley with the Top-Rope Legdrop in 0:15:49.
Rating: ** 1/4

MO:  Cade is an up and coming star in GCCW while Sean Morley is a veteran that is still in the prime of his career.  Both men looked good in this match with a lot of back and forth action.  Morley missed a top rope splash and gave Cade the opportunity to finish the match off with his Top-Rope Legdrop for the victory.

Super Commando pinned Hernandez after a high cross body in 0:12:11.
Rating: ****

MO:  This was a huge upset as Super Commando took Hernandez out.  Brad Armstrong came down to the ring but didn't interfere at all.  He just sat at ringside and watched the match up.  Hernandez couldn't get his mind in the match and kept jawing with Armstrong on the outside.  Hernandez was pointing at Armstrong as he lifted Commando up for The Border Toss, before he could finish the move Commando slid down his back and pushed Hernandez into the corner.  The big man fell backwards while Commando nimbly jumped to the top rope and hit a high cross body for the surprise victory.

Larry Sweeney pinned Barry Horowitz after hitting him with a foreign object in
0:15:04.
Rating: *** 1/4

MO:  Sweeney had a very pissed off look on his face coming down the aisle and he was all business for this match.  Last week he was upset by Jay Lethal but he wouldn't take a loss this week.  It looked as though Horowitz would win as he got the HOROWITZ ROLL-UP, Sweeney rolled through though and managed to hit Horowitz with a pair of brass knuckles without the referee DQing him.  Larry rolled through the bottom rope and celebrated wildly after the match.

Super Calo pinned Matt Striker after a roll up in 0:07:33.
Rating: *** 1/2

MO:  After Striker tried to pull his mask off Super Calo has had a fire lit under him that continues to build and build.  This will only add to the hatred between the two as Calo beat Striker with a roll up out of nowhere to gain the victory tonight.  Striker went crazy after the match, kicking at the ropes and pushing the referee down.  Striker pointed at Calo after the match and made a "cut-throat" gesture towards him.

Joey Ryan pinned James Storm after a crucifix in 0:22:49.
Rating: **** 1/2

MO:  This was one heat-filled main event.  Storm and Ryan brought it very hard tonight and tore the house down.  Storm started the match off by tackling Ryan and pounding him with lefts and rights.  Joey came back with brawling of his own and it turned into an all-out streetfight between the two.  Several times during the match it looked as though we'd get another no decision as they were both close to being counted out on several occasions.  The action got back into the ring though and Joey Ryan hit the Mustache Ride for what looked like three.  Storm however put his foot on the rope and surprised the audience that thought Ryan had gained victory. James fought back and hit the 8 Second Ride for a 2 9/10 call.  Storm looked agitated and argued with the referee, Ryan ran over and locked James in a crucifix and got the three count to end a thrilling match!  The fans went crazy while Ryan smiled, Storm on the other hand was infuriated and tried to attack Joey after the match.  Ryan just went to the outside and smiled on his way up the ramp as the show ended.

All four men will be debuting at our next show in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
rebelins313Posted on 08/23/07 at 06:08:31

GCCW: Hattiesburg, MS

Explosivo pinned Dr. X with the 450 Splash in 0:10:54.
Rating: * 3/4

MO:  This was the debut for both these luchadores and the crowd didn't quite know what to think of either.  Both competitors looked sloppy throughout the match and Explosivo finished Dr. X off with a 450 Splash at just under the 11 minute mark.

Jay Lethal pinned Shark Boy with the Dragon Suplex in 0:13:29.
Rating: *** 1/2

MO:  After Lethal scored a pinfall victory over Shark Boy in their triangle match last week Shark Boy was the one to make the challenge this week.  It was a back and forth matchup with lots of great high spots.  Neither man wanted to lose to the other but in the end Lethal was just too much for Shark Boy, spiking him down with a Dragon Suplex for the victory.

Ron Simmons pinned Marty Jannetty with the Dominator in 0:10:27.
Rating: ** 1/2
[Kendall Windham interfered against Ron Simmons.]

MO:  Simmons dominated most of this matchup and would've had it won earlier if he didn't have Kendall Windham interfering in the match.  Windham was dominated by Simmons last week but decided he would try and mess with Ron tonight and try to cost him the match.  Ron chased Kendall around the ring and eventually got him away from ringside, Jannetty tried a Superkick but it was blocked by Simmons and he was thrown down hard with a Dominator for the one, two, three.

Sweet 'N' Sour Incorporated (Chris Hero and Larry Sweeney) defeated Kendall Windham and Lance Cade when Hero pinned K. Windham after a small package
in 0:19:52. Kendall Windham injured his right knee. He will be out for approximately 3 cards.
Rating: ***

MO:It seems that whatever combination Sweet N' Sour Inc. puts out there they do a pretty good job as a team.  This time Chris Hero and Larry Sweeney took on Kendall Windham and Lance Cade.  Windham kept looking to the back throughout, hoping Ron Simmons wasn't going to come down to answer the interference from Windham in the previous match.  A couple of weeks back it looked as though Chris Hero helped injure the knee of Super Commando in their tag match and this week Hero found another victim in Kendall Windham.  After focusing on the leg for the better part of the match, Windham tried for a vertical suplex on Hero but his leg gave out and Hero rolled him over in a small package for the win.  Windham's knee will keep him out for 3 weeks.

Charly Manson pinned Dos Caras Jr. after a moonsault in 0:10:36.
Rating: ** 1/2

MOTwo more stars from Mexico debuted with Charly Manson taking on Dos Caras Jr.  These two worked much better with one another than Explosivo and Dr. X but the match still wasn't anything to write home about.  The fans were a little creeped out by the attire of Charly Manson while Dos Caras Jr.'s size and athleticism impressed the crowd.  Manson pulled off the  victory with a moonsault and we look forward to seeing much more from these two in the future.

Sean Morley pinned Ron Killings with the Fisherman Suplex in 0:17:18.
Rating: *** 1/2

MO:  Sean Morley got back on the winning track by taking out Ron Killings in a nice matchup.  Killings looked sharp but didn't have enough to keep Morley from gaining the victory.  Sean hit the Fisherman Suplex and gained his most impressive victory so far in GCCW.

Matt Striker, Hernandez and James Storm defeated
Brad Armstrong, Joey Ryan and Super Calo when J. Storm pinned J. Ryan after
a top-rope Frankensteiner in 0:23:59.
Rating: ****

MO: The main event of the evening featured six-man tag action between several men that just don't like one another.  Matt Striker and Super Calo have been going back and forth with one another after Striker tried removing the mask of Calo and also almost seriously injured the knee of his tag partner Super Commando.  James Storm and Joey Ryan have had a very heated feud that has resulted in some great match-ups and the former ally of Joey Ryan and Brad Armstrong Hernandez has been gunning for the GCCW Coastal Champion.  The referee almost lost total control starting off in this match as all six men brawled both in the ring and out.  After about 5 minutes everything had gotten under control and the match began.

Striker and Calo started out for their respective teams and put on a show with very close near-falls and some nice high flying action from Calo.  Brad Armstrong was tagged in and went to work on Striker for a while, almost gaining victory with his Russian Legsweep before Hernandez stopped the count.  Hernandez picked Striker up and tossed him towards their own corner, stepping quickly to the outside then tagging himself in.  The referee looked shocked but let it go and Hernandez went to work on Brad Armstrong.  To put it nicely he kicked Armstrong's ass, throwing him around the ring with ease and really laying into him.  Armstrong however fought back and tagged Joey Ryan into the match.  Being the fresh man Ryan came in like a house of fire, throwing lefts and rights at all three opponents.  All six-men got into the action throughout and a great main event was ended with James Storm hitting a top-rope Frankensteiner to gain the victory.  The fans booed wildly as the heels celebrated in the ring, Ryan was holding the back of his head while Armstrong and Calo checked on him.

Two-out-of-three-Falls Match:
Dr. X and Charly Manson beat Explosivo and Dos Caras Jr. 2 falls to 1:
x Dos Caras Jr. beat Dr. X via the Bridging Fallaway Suplex in 0:06:07
x C. Manson beat Explosivo via a Yakuza kick in 0:11:47
x Dr. X beat Explosivo via the Flying Splash in 0:19:15
Rating: **

MO:  All four of these men will be competing in their homeland of Mexico at Viva La Revolucion to help crown the holder of the inaugural GCCW Skyweight Title.  This was held under lucha libre rules with 2 out of 3 falls and tags occuring on men sliding to the outside.  Manson and Dr. X started off slow, losing the first fall before storming back and grabbing the next two falls before the time limit was to run out.  The fans clapped for the effort of Dos Caras Jr. and Explosivo after the match as they made their way to the back.

Scott Norton pinned Shark Boy after a jumping lariat in 0:12:15.
Rating: ***

MO:  Scott Norton made his return after suffering an injury several weeks back.  Shark Boy is so over with the crowd but he can't gain any momentum in his matches, losing again to the much larger Norton.

Ron Simmons pinned Lance Cade after a spinebuster slam in 0:06:46.
Rating: ** 1/4

MO:  With his tag partner Kendall Windham out with injury Lance Cade stepped up and faced Ron Simmons this week.  Simmons looked like a man on a mission and showed an impressive display, taking Cade out in just under seven minutes with a spinebuster slam.

Larry Sweeney pinned Super Commando after hitting him with a foreign object in
0:14:40.
Rating: *** 3/4

MO:  Sweeney gained another tainted victory via brass knuckles, this time against Super Commando.  This was a very nice matchup until the end as after the match things got very ugly.  Sweeney used the brass knuckles to bloody Commando up and tear part of his mask off.  Sweet N' Sour began tearing away at his mask, hoping to show the face of Super Commando but he was interrupted with Super Calo running down to the ring and stopping him before he could do anything further.  Matt Striker ran down right after and tried to help Sweeney but Calo was so fired up that he took both men out and kept his partner safe.  The heat in the building was at a high and the fans are ready to see the blow-off between these men.

Jay Lethal defeated Ron Killings when Ron Killings passed out in
a standing wristlock in 0:12:33.
Rating: *** 1/2

MO:  Jay Lethal has been on quite the roll and took on another competitor that he be facing off against in the battle royal for the GCCW Skyweight Title.  Ron Killings has been impressive in GCCW as well and looked good here for the most part.  Lethal worked over the arm of Killings throughout the match and made "The Truth" submit with a standing wrist lock right in the middle of the ring.

Chris Hero and Sean Morley battled to a double countout in 0:15:04.
Rating: ** 3/4

MO:  These two didn't work as well together as you would think and looked to be feeling each other out.  The heat did pick up towards the end though as Hero took a stiff shot from Morley, busting his lip open.  From this point forward both men went all out with one another with lefts and rights, turning this into little more than a street fight.  The referee counted both men out and a winner was not declared for the night.

Joey Ryan pinned Sean Schultz after a Northern Lights suplex in 0:14:31.
Rating: ** 3/4
[Honky Tonk Man interfered against Joey Ryan.]

MO:  Sean Schultz has tons of talent and you can definitely see what Honky Tonk Man sees in him but he does not harness it well and shows his inexperience in the ring often.  Joey Ryan on the other hand is on top of his game and wrestled a great match, finishing it off with a Northern Lights Suplex with a perfect bridge for the victory.

Brad Armstrong defeated Hernandez by disqualification in 0:14:34.
Rating: *** 1/2
(Brad Armstrong retained the GCCW Coastal Championship.)
[Joey Ryan interfered against Hernandez.]
[James Storm interfered against Brad Armstrong.]

MO:  These two have great, great chemistry with one another but nothing was settled in their match tonight.  The fans were on their feet, excited to see Armstrong defend his Coastal Championship.  Hernandez dominated early on before Armstrong started working over the head and neck of the big man.  It looked as though Hernandez would make the comeback before the match turned into a circus with James Storm entering and nailing Armstrong with a clothesline.  Joey Ryan slid under the bottom rope from the back and attacked both Hernandez and Storm.  All four men brawled to end the show with nothing really fixed.

Charly Manson, Dr. X and Sean Schultz defeated
Dos Caras Jr., Explosivo and Jay Lethal when Sean Schultz pinned Dos Caras Jr.
with the facebuster onto the knee in 0:03:14.
Rating: * 3/4

MO:  This match ended rather abruptly as Sean Schultz hit his facebuster onto the knee on Dos Caras Jr. while Manson and Dr. X took care of Jay Lethal and Explosivo, giving the rudos a quick victory.  Schultz posed down after the match, not paying much attention to his teammates.

Lance Cade defeated Marty Jannetty by count out in 0:08:45.
Rating: 1/4*

MO:  The fans were not into this match at all as Cade seemed to be dogging it and Jannetty was sloppy in his execution.  The match mercifully ended after Cade hit a clothesline on Jannetty, tumbling him to the outside and leaving him lying at ringside long enough for a count out victory.

Sean Morley and Barry Horowitz defeated
Sweet 'N' Sour Incorporated (Chris Hero and Larry Sweeney) when Sean Morley pinned Sweeney after a fisherman suplex in 0:15:52.
Rating: ***

MO:  Morley and Horowitz surprised the team of Hero and Sweeney.  Morley and Hero had a brawl last week that ended in a double count out but this time a winner did happen as Morley hit his Fisherman Suplex on Sweeney for the win.  Hero tried to make the save but was cut off by Horowitz.  After the match Sweeney and Hero beat both men down, leaving Morley a bloody mess and throwing Horowitz to the outside.  Hero put one foot on top of the chest of Morley and got a three count from Larry Sweeney to declare himself the real "victor".  After spitting on Sean Hero made his way to the back.

Ron Killings pinned Shark Boy after a flying forearm in 0:05:34.
Rating: *** 1/4

MO:  This match defined the saying "quality over quantity" as both men went all out with one another and put on a helluva match for five minutes.  Killings impressed with his high flying move set and gains a lot of momentum going into the Battle Royal for the Skyweight Title.

Hernandez and James Storm defeated Brad Armstrong and Joey Ryan when Hernandez
pinned B. Armstrong with the Border Toss in 0:15:17.
Rating: *** 1/2

MO:  These four men have been the talk of Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling for the better part of 2 months and all wanted a piece of one another tonight.  It wasn't the prettiest match but there was lots of emotion and every man wanted to gain the pinfall victory.  Hernandez and Armstrong went at one another hard as did Joey Ryan and James Storm.  In the end Hernandez hit the Border Toss on the GCCW Coastal Champion and gained a pinfall victory.  Could this be the setting of things to come or will Armstrong be able to fend off Hernandez?  Also, will Joey Ryan be able to stop James Storm in the cage?  Neither man will have anywhere to escape and this match will go until one man is crowned victor.  Viva La Revolucion is shaping up to be the greatest card in the short history of GCCW.

GCCW: Viva La Revolucion!

Kendall Windham pinned Ron Simmons with the Bulldog in 0:10:09.
Rating: * 3/4

MO:  The night didn't start off on the highest of notes as Windham and Simmons were sluggish in the ring with one another.  Windham was extremely excited after the match, gaining a pinfall victory over one of GCCW's top wrestlers with a nice bulldog.

Chris Hero pinned Sean Morley with the Hero's Welcome in 0:10:03.
Rating: ***
[Lance Cade interfered against Sean Morley.]

MO:  The quality of this match was a definite improvement over the first with Chris Hero and Sean Morley working pretty well with one another.  Morley is a little more defined and had the weight advantage while Hero has the height advantage.  Both men worked each other over, Hero working over the head and neck with the cravate mixed in with chinlocks and strikes to the upper back.  Morley on the other hand worked over the lower back of Hero, trying to take away Hero's stength to lift him up for the Hero's Welcome.  The match went back and forth and Morley lost after Lance Cade ran down to ringside, jumping up and bouncing Morley's throat off the top rope and into the awaiting arms of Hero, who locked in and hit the Hero's Welcome.  Chris looked happy to gain victory but did give a staredown to Cade after the match.

10-Man Battle Royal for the vacant GCCW Skyweight Title:
Jay Lethal won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x Explosivo defeated Sean Schultz after
a Frankensteiner from the top rope in 0:18:54
x Jannetty defeated Dr. X after a crucifix in 0:20:16
x C. Manson defeated Jannetty after a spinebuster slam in 0:20:28
x Explosivo defeated C. Manson after an Asai moonsault bodyblock in
          0:21:59
x Shark Boy defeated Killings after the Dead Sea Drop in 0:25:45
x Lethal defeated Horowitz after a flying headbutt in 0:27:06
x Lethal defeated Shark Boy after a sunset flip in 0:31:24
x Lethal defeated Explosivo after a flying headbutt in 0:32:28
x Lethal defeated Dos Caras Jr. after a gutwrench suplex in 0:41:32
Rating: **** 1/4
(Jay Lethal won the GCCW Skyweight Title.)
[Honky Tonk Man interfered against Marty Jannetty.]

MO:  This started off what was to come in a series of great, great matches.  It started off slow with all ten men in the ring, there was a lot of chaos and it was really hard to keep up with the action.  Sean Schultz was actually the first man to be eliminated, getting knocked out by Explosivo with a Top-Rope Frankensteiner.  The next three eliminations were bam, bam, bam as Jannetty locked on a crucifix on Dr. X, Charly Manson followed it up by picking Jannetty up and throwing him down with a spinebuster slam for the three count, followed up then by Explosivo defeating Charly Manson after bouncing off the ropes with an Asai moonsault bodyblock.

Shark Boy got a surprising pin fall on Ron Killings after a Dead Sea Drop at just after the 25 minute mark.  What occured next was spectacular and could best be described as the Jay Lethal show.  Lethal was all over the ring, fighting with everyone left and really impressing those in attendance.  Ever since he's gotten a few victories under his belt he looks very good and the confidence is just exuding off of him.  Lethal took out Barry Horowitz first with a flying headbutt, following that up by taking on Shark Boy.  These two have been on the same side of battles and been in battles against one another with Lethal coming out on top, this time was no different after Lethal rolled over with a sunset flip for the victory.  Lethal took out Explosivo just over a minute later with another flying headbutt and we were down to just two.  Dos Caras Jr. went right after Lethal after Jay got the pinfall on Explosivo, hitting a back suplex and starting to work over the back of Lethal.  The two went back and forth with a lot of close pinfalls for nearly 10 minutes until Lethal finished Caras Jr. off with a gutwrench suplex.

All the fans in attendance gave Lethal a standing ovation after the match.  Dos Caras Jr. got up, holding at his back afterwards and extended his hand to the new Skyweight Title holder.  Lethal and Caras Jr. shook hands then Lethal celebrated, strapping the title around his waist and pointing out towards the crowd.

[HAIR [VS] MASKS]:
Super Calo and Super Commando defeated
Sweet 'N' Sour Incorporated (Larry Sweeney and Matt Striker) when Calo pinned Striker with the Top Rope Headscissors in 0:26:49.
Rating: **** 1/2

MO:  So the night of one-upping the previous match began.  The heat for this match was incredible as the Mexican faithful were solidly behind Calo and Commando.  Sweeney and Striker were accompanied to the ring by security as to not let any hostile fans get their hands on the duo.  Both teams looked focus and as the match began the crowd started their chanting for Calo and Commando.  Striker started off against Calo and dominated for quite a while, disrespecting Calo by slapping him in the back of the head and trying to pin with one arm and even once with one leg.  Calo became increasingly frustrated and started brawling with Striker, tumbling both men to the outside.  Sweeney tried to come over to make it a two-on-one but Commando came over and the four men brawled along ringside.  Each team went back and forth with Sweeney looking very good, showing off his power against the lighter opponents.  Striker kept messing up throughout, staying in the ring too long and blowing a couple of spots.  The heat of the match made it feel as epic as you could, the fans leaning on each move and counting along anytime Calo and Commando went for the pin.  Several times it looked as though the Super duo would fall victim to SNS Inc. but each time they were willed back by the crowd.

At around the 24 minute mark we were back on with Striker and Calo.  Matt Striker hit The Golden Rule on Super Calo and it looked like it was all over.  Sweeney came in to cut Commando off and it looked like we'd be seeing the faces of both men but Super Calo kicked out.  The crowd began stomping its feet while Commando and Sweeney started going at it on the outside.  Striker hit a bodyslam and tried for another pin, after kicking out at 2 9/10ths Calo's head was bounced off the mat by Striker with a stomp.  One more pin and Striker was again denied victory.  Matt spit on Calo, going to the outside and beginning to climb to the top turnbuckle.  Calo woozily got up and hit the ropes, crotching Striker on the top rope.  With an increasing volume Calo jumped up the ropes and hit his top rope headscissors.  One three count later and the roof nearly blew off the building from the decision.  Commando had thrown Sweeney into the ring steps on the outside and slid his opponent back into the ring.  Calo and Commando congratulated one another while the ring announcer brought two pair of clippers into the ring.  With a lot of the fans laughing Calo and Commando shaved the beautiful blond locks of Larry Sweeney and Striker's black fade haircut right off their respective heads.  Each man squirmed but they knew if they didn't go along with it that they could be suspended.  Calo and Commando went into the audience, each clutching at some of the hair while celebrating with those in attendance.

Cage Match:
James Storm pinned Joey Ryan with the 8 Second Ride in 0:33:30.

MO:  You would think that the fans would be too drained after the last match to do anything but the pure intensity of the brawl between these two caused a great amount of heat.  The action here was brutal with this being a cage match with no escapes for victory.  Ryan started the match off with a running elbow to the head of Storm.  James was definitely caught off guard and stumbled backwards into the cage.  The referee on the outside locked the cage door and it was on.  The first 15 minutes of this match was filled with brawling and each man taking turns grinding the other one's face into the steel.  By 10 minutes in both men were bleeding rather profusely and this would be the case throughout.  Storm took over for a while, ramming Ryan back first into the steel and bouncing Joey's head off the steel ring post.  Storm became increasingly frustrated with himself after several pin attempts that Ryan kicked out of.  Joey did come back and worked over the neck of Storm, hitting a DDT and then working it over with stomps right to the base of the neck and upper back.

The ring became increasingly stained with both men's blood towards the 25 minute mark and both were moving much slower than previously.  Ryan hit The Mustache Ride for an apparent three count but unfortunately for him Storm did have his foot on the rope.  The fans in attendance stomped just like in the last match, hoping they could will their man to victory again but it wasn't in the cards tonight.  Storm showed much passion and intensity, making the comeback and hitting the 8 Second Ride for the three count.  Neither man got up after the match and the fans were booing the result.  GCCW officials came down to ringside and helped both men to the back, they both looked to need medical attention after losing lots and lots of blood.  This will go down as the greatest match in GCCW's short history and is a definite canidate for MOTY in all of wrestling.

Brad Armstrong pinned Hernandez with the Russian Legsweep in 0:24:25.

(Brad Armstrong retained the GCCW Coastal Championship.)

MO:  Perhaps I spoke too soon on MOTY as this one proved to be worthy of the main event of this show.  These two work so well together and really gel perfectly with one another.  The fans were amped for the match but it didn't have as much heat as the previous two.  It looked as though fatigue had finally struck our crowd but it didn't matter with Armstrong and Hernandez.  Armstrong started the match off strong, going right after the huge legs of Hernandez and trying to limit the big man's power offense and athleticism.  Brad locked on a figure four leglock at about the 8 minute mark and held onto it for nearly two minutes!  Hernandez finally broke loose and hit Armstrong with several elbows to the head and a nice lariat.  He was definitely favoring the knee though and tried to work the pain out.

Armstrong tried to clip the knee but Hernandez side-stepped and kicked him right in the head.  This was a good and bad move as Brad was knocked very woozy but Hernandez' leg didn't fare much better, buckling under the pressure and knocking him to the mat.  Hernandez pulled himself back up and focused more of his weight onto his right leg, which hadn't taken as much punishment.  Gingerly he went back on the offensive, showing very good upper body strength by dead-lifting Armstrong off the mat and slamming him down with a powerbomb.  Hernandez upper body tensed up on the maneuver, showing that he wasn't lifting with his legs but it was effective nonetheless.  The match continued with Hernandez dominating for the most part until Armstrong finally took back control, hitting Hernandez in the knee then attacking the neck of the big man.

The end came when Armstrong hit not one, not two, but THREE Russian Legsweeps on Hernandez, wanting to make sure the big man would stay down.  Armstrong hooked one leg and wrapped his leg around the other to secure the pin.  After the three count Brad looked extremely happy, sweating profusely and smiling towards the crowd.  Hernandez stayed on the mat for a while, knowing that his shot slipped through his finger once more.  Armstrong perched on the top rope, showing the belt to the crowd as the card ended.

I'm going to close shop on the GCCW project and come up with something I'm a little more into.  This whole thing was me just booking stuff on the fly with a little bit of a quirky roster.  It was fun overall with TNM throwing me several curveballs with people quitting, injuries, etc.  Anyone who read I'd like to thank and hopefully you enjoyed it but I'm going to move onto something that will run longer and that I will enjoy more.  Be on the lookout for the new project sometime in the near future!

Bummer. I'll be on the lookout for the new project, though...

Just started reading it and it's over. I've been there many atimes though. I have, easily, 20 circuits created, sitting in different folders on my PC. All with different concepts and rosters.

Great circuit. It's a shame it's closing! I only started reading the cards yesterday. Awesome! Good look on your new circuit!
