Raw kicks off with Randy Orton standing in the ring; an almost blank expression across his face. The fans resent the fact that Randy is simply standing there, motionless and looking as though he'll remain this way for a while longer. After a full two minutes of doing nothing, Randy motions for a microphone. For the past 24 hours, Orton has tried to understand what exactly happened last night. But now, he doesn't care anymore. John Cena's victory at SummerSlam was a fluke and Randy Orton will prove it once he's granted a rematch.

The reigning champion, John Cena, quickly makes his way out; a grin across his face as he soaks up the cheers of his homestate crowd. John has a question for Randy Orton: Why does he deserve a rematch? He isn't the former champion, so he can't claim a contract clause. He hasn't won any matches since last night, so he's not the #1 Contender. Quite frankly, Cena's ready to move on, find a new challenger and keep on fighting.

Randy interrupts Cena by claiming that he's afraid of what Randy might do this time around. He caught John off-guard many times before SummerSlam and...

Randy is suddenly interrupted by Triple H's entrance music. Both Cena and Orton look quizzatively as the newly-returned King of Kings makes his way into the ring. Triple H agrees with Randy Orton; he should get another shot at the WWE Championship. And when Orton's failed to get the job done again, it can be Triple H's turn. Triple H has let Cena run around and have his near year-long reign, but sooner, rather than later, the King of Kings will ascend back to his throne.

Cena quickly responds by asking if that means Triple H purposefully tapped out at Wrestlemania last year? And losing during all those other title matches as well?

Triple H turns to Randy Orton and notes that there's two of them and only one Cena. Randy smiles at Triple H and turns back to Cena. Both men suddenly lunge at John Cena, with Triple H stopping midway and backing out of the ring. Cena catches Randy Orton and quickly puts him down with the F-U. Triple H slowly backs up the entrance ramp with a wide grin on his face. Cena turns to Triple H and stares him down. The smirk on his face quickly fading, Triple H repeats his claim of "sooner, rather than later."

After a quick recap of the confrontation between John Cena, Randy Orton and Triple H; Santino Marella makes his entrance, almost dragging Maria with him. Santino is extremely happy that Maria no longer has to hang around with that brainless, brute Ron Simmons. Now Maria can stay around a real man. Santino mentions that earlier today he issued an open challenge to celebrate his return to the ring after a slight arm injury that would have ended most other's careers. Ron Simmons appears and comes down to the ring. Santino begins berating Simmons, saying that he had his date and that was it, but if he's here to accept the challenge... Maria cuts off Santino before he can continue and timidly admits that she invited Ron to join her at ringside to cheer on Santino.

Santino demands that someone get down to the ring now or he'll be forced to drag someone from the back. Santino prepares to leave the ring when Snitsky suddenly appears to answer the challenge.

Snitsky pinned Santino Marella with the Painless in 0:02:22.
Rating: 3/4*

Snitsky stands over the fallen Marella and stares out into the crowd. When he leaves the ring, both Maria and Ron enter the ring. Maria tries to check on Santino, albeit without touching him. Ron Simmons simply stands near the ropes, microphone in hand. "DAMN!"

A quick video recaps Mickie James kicking down Candice Michelle last week during Raw. That action has lead to a match this week between Mickie and Candice. Another video recaps the Diva Battle Royal from SummerSlam, which saw Beth Phoenix defeat several other WWE Divas from SmackDown! and Raw as well as ECW. By winning the Battle Royal, Beth has earned a WWE Women's Title shot at WWE Unforgiven next month.

Candice Michelle defeated Mickie James by disqualification in 0:03:10.
Rating: *
[Beth Phoenix interfered against Candice Michelle.]

Beth Phoenix entered the ring and pushed Mickie James off of Candice Michelle and began pummeling her with punches as the referee called for the disqualification. Mickie James picks herself up and stares at Beth, but leaves the ring. Beth grabs the Women's Title and poses with it while standing over Candice.

Jonathan Coachman is standing in an office, talking on his cellphone. He starts rubbing his forehead when he stops and tells the person he'll have to call them back. Vince McMahon walks into frame with a smile across his face. He tells Coach that he's just been informed that next week, he will know who his illegitimate son is and so will the world.

...

The Self-Proclaimed World's Greatest Tag Team are standing in the ring. Cody Rhodes appears at the top of the entrance ramp as the match is introduced as a tag team match. Lillian Garcia seems unsure who Cody's partner is. Shelton grabs the microphone from Lillian and speculates that no one wanted to team with a talentless hack like Cody. Unfortunately for Cody, the match is already signed and has to go through whether Cody has a partner or not. As Cody cautiously makes his way to the ring, The Sandman's music starts playing. The Extreme Icon makes his way through the crowd and motions to Cody that he's got his back.

The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) defeated Cody Rhodes and The Sandman when S. Benjamin pinned C. Rhodes with the T-Bone in 0:06:31.
Rating: ** 1/2

Benjamin and Haas celebrate over the fact that they've finally defeated the young rookie after individual losses over the past few weeks. The Sandman runs the two out of the ring and checks on Rhodes.

Video is shown from SummerSlam showing Umaga retaining his Intercontinental Championship against Mr. Kennedy and Carlito. When the video is over, Carlito is shown standing in the ring which is set up for Carlito's Cabana. Carlito says that last night was supposed to be the biggest party of the summer, but he feels that it was biggest flop of the summer instead. Instead of Carlito walking out the new WWE Intercontinental Champion, he had to watch as Umaga retained after defeating that loud-mouthed, blowhard Mr. Kennedy. How is it fair that Carlito loses a match without actually losing a match? It just doesn't make sense and it's definitely not cool. Carlito makes a plea to Raw General Manager, William Regal; give Carlito a fair shot at the Intercontinental Championship. And with that out of the way, Carlito would like to introduce tonight's guest; the man who lost the triple threat match at Summerslam: Mr. Kennedy.

Kennedy enters the ring and stands face-to-face with Carlito. He snatches the microphone from Carlito's hands and hurls it out of the ring, prefering to use his own microphone and motions to the ceiling as his microphone drops down. Kennedy attempts to introduce himself but Carlito pushes him aside and says there'll be none of that nonsense on his show. Kennedy remarks that if Carlito didn't want nonsense on his "show," then he wouldn't have the ring covered in corny tropical-themed props and would have gotten a decent haircut years ago.

Before Carlito can respond, Umaga suddenly appears and rushes to the ring. Carlito and Kennedy put their differences aside and double team the Samoan Bulldozer. Umaga pushes the two back. Carlito rushes back to Umaga, but Kennedy rolls out of the ring grabs a chair. Umaga throws Carlito around, knocking over the chairs and the rest of his Cabana set. Kennedy delivers a chairshot to Umaga's head, but the monster barely flinches and punches the chair out of Kennedy's hand. Carlito jumps onto Umaga and starts punching him in the head. Kennedy grabs the chair again and hits Umaga in the back of the head; this time the shot taking down the Samoan.

Kennedy stands over Umaga, taunting him. As Kennedy prepares another chairshot, Carlito grabs him and performs the Backstabber. Carlito grabs an apple and takes a rather large bite of it and prepares to spit it in Kennedy's face when Umaga forcefully spins him around delivers the Samoan Spike. The impact is enough to cause Carlito to spit the apple into the air as he falls down and the spit-soaked pieces rain down over his own face. Umaga grabs his Intercontinental Championship and screams in Samoan as both Kennedy and Carlito are left laying on the mat.

Before the next match can start, Cryme Tyme make their way to ringside.

Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch defeated The Highlanders (Robbie McAllister and Rory McAllister) when Cade pinned Robbie with the Lariat in 0:05:20.
Rating: 1/4*

After the match, Cryme Tyme grab Cade and Murdoch's Tag Team Championships and run off into the crowd promising a "big sale" coming up. Cade and Murdoch take off after them, but due to the crowd are unable to catch Cryme Tyme.

As Lillian Garcia introduces Val Venis, Jerry Lawler enters the ring. He convinces Lillian to let him take over for the time being. Lawler says that he is more than happy to introduce the man who lost to Triple H last night: King Booker. King Booker, with Queen Sharmell, walks down the ramp while glaring at Jerry Lawler.

Val Venis defeated King Booker by countout in 0:08:53.
Rating: ** 1/4

King Booker seemed far more interested in Jerry Lawler, who endlessly taunted Booker for losing to the King of Kings, Triple H last night at SummerSlam. After laying out Val Venis with the Scissors Kick, King Booker climbed to the top turnbuckle. Jerry Lawler grabbed a microphone and reminded Booker that going up top last night certainly didn't help him against Triple H. Distracted by that comment, Booker didn't notice that Val Venis had gotten back to his feet and then proceeded to push King Booker off and out of the ring. Lawler stood and laughed at King Booker as the referee began his count. As Booker got back to his feet, he jumped Jerry Lawler and laid into him with multiple punches. Eventually King Booker stopped as he heard the bell ringing and the announcement that he'd lost via countout. He grabbed Jerry Lawler and threw him from his chair. Jerry tried a comeback but Queen Sharmell stopped him by wrapping King Booker's cape around his head. King Booker would follow up with a Book End onto the floor. Booker took the opportunity to lay in a few more kicks before walking away, satisfied that he'd sent a message.

Backstage, JTG and Shad Gaspard move out from behind a black van and walk up to a convientely placed camera. Next week on Raw, they're having their biggest, hottest items go up for sale: The World Tag Team Championships. JTG ends things by saying he'd like to give a shout out to a few guys, but Shad cuts him off and points out something and the two quickly disappear. A few seconds later, Cade and Murdoch show up, still steaming that they've just had their titles stolen.

Randy Orton is pacing around the ring. He wants John Cena, and he wants him now. John Cena wastes no time in getting to the ring. Cena and Orton begin brawling with neither man getting the edge over the other. After a minute or so of brawling, Cena begins to get the advantage and attempts the F-U only to have Orton counter with an RKO attempt, which Cena then manages to counter. The two go back to throwing punches and seem oblivious to the fact that Triple H has come down to ring side. Triple H reaches under the ring and finds his weapon of choice: the sledgehammer. Triple H enters the ring and swings at Cena, who manages to duck out of the way, and connects with Randy Orton instead. After a shared laugh, Triple H takes another shot at John Cena but Cena manages to duck again and puts Triple H up on his shoulders. Triple H pushes himself off and attempts the Pedigree but gets backdropped for his troubles. John Cena eyes the sledgehammer and picks it up, though only to throw it out of the ring. Triple H slams into Cena from behind and knocks him out of the ring. Randy Orton makes it back to his feet and catching Triple H off guard, brings him down with the RKO. Cena gets back into the ring as Randy makes his way out, holding his head.

William Regal suddenly emerges from backstage. He suggests that if these men can't settle their problems in other ways, then he has no choice but to get involved himself. In three weeks at Unforgiven, John Cena will defend his WWE Championship against either Triple H or Randy Orton. To determine which man faces Cena, Regal has decided to put both Orton and Triple H in separate Gauntlet matches. Next week, Triple H will run the gauntlet and the week after, Randy will face his own. The man who survives the longest will get a WWE Championship shot against John Cena.

Maria tries to check on Santino, albeit without touching him.
This made me laugh.

And I really like the idea of the Gauntlet Matches. Nice job.

The reigning champion, John Cena, quickly makes his way out; a grin across his face as he soaks up the cheers mixed reaction of his homestate crowd.
Fixed  ;D

Actually, that was pretty damn good. Too bad you cancelled the Anubis challenge, I wouldn't have minded seeing the two of you go head to head.
Memphis_VicePosted on 08/31/07 at 20:51:02

So are you gonna write out all the suspended names by Nov. 1?  ;D
