Locker room: Shawn Michaels enters the DX Locker room.  He had left the Intercontinental Championship belt on a table and when he returns he finds a dead scorpion was left on the belt.

Backstage: Mr. McMahon is walking with Big Bossman.  Mr. McMahon had heard him mention how he wanted to be a wrestler.  So, he was invited here tonight to have a try out match later in the show.

During the match: Mr. McMahon "accidentally" tripped Big Bossman, causing him to be distracted by Vince leading to Patterson being able to get the win.

WWF Headquarters: Linda McMahon is seeing candidates for the commissioner  position.

Linda McMahon: Well, I still have some more interviews to do. But, I feel this went well.

William Regal: Yes, I believe so too. Thank you for seeing me.

Linda McMahon: We'll be in touch.

Regal has to pass by Mick Foley sitting outside Linda's office to leave.  Mick is wearing black sweat pants, a tuxedo t-shirt, and a top hat. Regal gives him a disgusted look as Mick yells HAVE A NICE DAY!

After the match: Sting and Shawn Michaels fight to the backstage area as Rick Rude looks on.

As he is standing in the ring, Lex Luger comes out.  He and Rude exchange a few words and Luger smacks Rude and puts him in the torture rack.

Sting runs back out to the ring to break it up.  Sting and Luger start arguing as Rude gets to his feet and joins in.

Shawn Michaels runs back out and climbs to the top turn buckle. He jumps off and tackles all three guys in the ring.

Shawn gets to his feet and gets ready to deliver a Superkick.  Luger gets to his feet and Shawn lands the kick on him. Followed by Rude and finally Sting.

Shawn then stands over Sting and says a few things to him before leaving the ring.

Backstage: The Rock is shown arriving at the arena.  He is attacked by Kevin Nash and after the fight is broken up, Linda McMahon is shown arriving.

Backstage: Linda McMahon confronts The Rock and Kevin Nash.  She announces each of them will pick an opponent for the other to face this evening.

Locker room: Rick Martel enters, Ric Flair is waiting for him.  Flair tells him if it's not too late, he has a suggestion for Martel regarding his partner for Summerslam.

Office: Linda McMahon is on her cell phone.

Linda: Yes, Vince, we have made our decision.

Mr. McMahon: And?

Linda: Don't worry Vince. Our new commissioner is someone who is a big fan of yours.

Linda leaves as Vince looks satisfied that the new commissioner will be an ally.

Backstage: We see Roddy Piper getting ready to head out for Piper's Pit.

Locker room: A disappointed Owen Hart sits alone.  Ric Flair enters and gives Owen some words of encouragement, based on the great matches he's been putting on lately.

Piper's Pit: Roddy Piper introduces the challenger, Chris Jericho.

After Jericho is in the ring, Piper introduces the champion, The Undertaker.

Piper interviews each of them to get their thoughts on the steel cage match at Summerslam.

After each has had a chance to speak, they look like they might fight each other.

Piper tells them to save it for Summerslam. Piper then turns his back as Jericho hits Undertaker.

Undertaker hits Jericho back and they start to exchange blows.

Piper manages to break it up. He shoves The Undertaker and starts talking to him as Jericho exits the ring.  

Undertaker grabs Piper and choke slams him. Jericho then hits Undertaker with a chair, knocking him out.

Jericho leaves the ring and once Undertaker comes to, he goes after him.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Backstage: The Undertaker catches up with Chris Jericho. They begin to brawl.  The fight lasts until they are broken up.

In the ring: The Rock stands waiting for his opponent.  Kevin Nash appears on the Titan Tron and introduces The Big Show as his choice for The Rock's opponent tonight.


The Rock pinned The Big Show with the Rock Bottom in 0:12:27.

In the ring: Mr. McMahon again calls Jesse Ventura into the ring.  As he has the last couple of weeks, McMahon demands an apology for Ventura's criticism and insults.  Ventura still refuses to apologize.
(Linda McMahon comes out to the ring)  Linda tells Vince, she has an opponent for Jesse tonight. It's going to be Vince and if he loses, he has to leave Jesse alone.

In the ring: Kevin Nash stands in the ring with Triple H and X Pac.  The Rock appears on the Titan Tron and informs Nash of his decision.  Nash's opponent will be Triple H.

Kevin Nash and Triple H battled to a double countout in 0:19:26.

During the match: The Rock comes out to ringside, causing Nash to leave the ring and go after him.  They begin to fight as Triple H leaves the ring to help Nash, leading to the double countout.

After the match: Eventually, Nash and Triple H get the upper hand on The Rock. It ends with Nash giving The Rock a power bomb through the announcer's table.

Locker room: Mean Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan on his team's win tonight.  Okerlund talks to Terry Funk about his time so far in the MWF and Funk declares he's here to win the Championship. Okerlund assumes it's the Hardcore Championship as the celebration continues.

Backstage: Maria talks to Rick Martel trying to find out who his mystery partner is.  He tells her Ric Flair made a strong argument in his decision and we'll find out shortly.

Ringside: Ross, Monsoon, and Ventura have returned to their positions to resume commentating duties.

The Steiner Brothers are introduced first, followed by Triple H & Scott Hall.

Rick Martel then comes to the ring and introduces Owen Hart as his new partner.

Demolition come out and Smash starts things off against Scott Steiner.

Locker room: Mean Gene Okerlund interviews Rob Van Dam. Sabu joins him to celebrate winning the title.

Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith battled to a double pin in 0:15:13.

Locker room: Sting is talking to someone on his cell phone. He tells them  the bad night for DX is going to get worse.  Sting asks the person on the other end if he's still part of their future plan and is happy by the response.

Office: Mr. McMahon has just finished taking a phone call when Jerry Lawler enters.  Lawler is upset for being left off of the commentating team for the pay per view.  Mr. McMahon tells Jerry to come with him.

Ringside: Ross, Monsoon, and Ventura talk about the evening so far.  We see Mr. McMahon come down to ringside with Lawler.  Mr. McMahon picks up a microphone and informs Ventura he's being replaced for the remainder of the night with Lawler.

Ventura objects and McMahon tries to forcefully get him to leave.  Ventura punches McMahon knocking him out.  Lawler slaps Ventura and starts to run away.

As Ventura chases him, Randy Savage runs out from the crowd and attacks Ventura.  Ventura begins to fight back, until Big John Studd comes out and attacks Ventura.

Once Ventura is down for good, Studd and Savage go over to help Mr. McMahon to his feet.  They head towards the ramp, but first McMahon stops and kicks Ventura a few times.

A couple referees and the medical staff come out to check on Ventura.

Backstage: Harlem Heat is shown hanging out.  They run into Rick Martel and Owen Hart getting ready to leave the arena.  Harlem Heat heckles them for losing the match earlier.  Owen is ready to fight, but Martel talks him into just leaving.

The Rock/Kevin Nash history is shown

Locker room: The rest of DX is upset with Nash for not caring about Michaels just losing his title.  Mean Gene Okerlund enters to interview Kevin Nash.

Backstage: Maria interviews The Rock.

Before the match: Kevin Nash comes out with the briefcase he stole from The Rock to take his guaranteed title shot.


The Rock defeated Kevin Nash via pinfall in 0:19:43.

After the match: The Rock takes the briefcase from ringside and opens it to find it's empty.  He's then attacked from behind by Kevin Nash.

Nash and Rock beging to brawl at ringside and end up in the crowd, fighting until they reach the backstage area.  

The events leading up to The Undertaker/Jericho match airs

Backstage: Maria interviews Chris Jericho.

Locker room: Mean Gene Okerlund interviews The Undertaker.


Cage Match:
The Undertaker defeated Chris Jericho by escaping the cage in 0:25:26.

(The Undertaker retained the Heavyweight Championship.)


After the match: The Undertaker goes and retrieves the belt.

Roddy Piper comes down to ringside and gets in Undertaker's face about being chokeslammed at the end of Piper's Pit.

The Undertaker blows him off and enters the ring to celebrate.

Piper picks up the ring bell and enters the ring.

The Undertaker turns around and sees Piper with the bell.

But, the crowd response to Piper's potential attack makes him reconsider. He throws the bell down on the mat and storms off as Undertaker continues to celebrate.
