Match observations:
The action tonight was explosive as the Championship Wrestling Alliance presented its second ever pay per view, Heat Wave 2007. With seven huge matches on the docket, the fans were rabid for the patented CWA action. The biggest news of the night had to have been the fact that Brock Lesnar was Tracy Brooks "Centerpiece" who answered the open challenge that was laid down by Tito Ortiz. "The Most Dangerous Man in the CWA" has dominated the competition here since day one but he has never gone up against a force like Brock Lesnar. "The Centerpiece" was nailed with a thrust kick to the head right out of the shoot but Lesnar easily kicked out. The two started brawling outside the ring, leading to Brock delivering The Verdict on the announce table to Ortiz. He continued the beat down with no regard to the fact that referee Sean Traverson was administering the 20 count that the CWA adheres to. The match ended in a double count out but it was obvious the the fans in attendance and the viewers at home that Brock look extremely dominating in his CWA debut.

Bryan Danielson looked impressive tonight as he picked up a victory in a triangle match between himself, Daniel Puder and a debuting "All That" Adam Jacobs, a man who enjoyed considerable success in the southern United States. Danielson stayed in the ring for the entirety of the bout, successfully taking Jacobs and Puder to wrestling school at will. Although he won the match with an airplane spin, the match was over after Danielson hit his patented MMA elbow strikes that knocked Puder silly. There have been rumors backstage that the American Dragon has been angry about his role in the company so far and that he will be going out of his way make examples out of the grapplers he faces. An angry and motivated Bryan Danielson might be the worst nightmare for anyone who stands in the way of his quest for the CWA World Heavyweight Title.

The Panthers, Shelton Benjamin and Elijah Burke, made their much anticipated debut tonight against Virtual Insanity. This match was nothing more than an exhibition as The Panthers are currently on a whole different level that Virtual Insanity. They looked might impressive and you have to think that they will be challenging for the North American Tag Team Titles sooner then later.

The latest chapter in the Chavo Guerrero and Jerry Lynn saga went down tonight and it almost looked as if Lynn was turning a new leaf as he finally scored a pinfall over Guerrero with his Cradle Piledriver. He went on to score several near falls before Guerrero nailed a Gory Bomb to even up the falls 1-1. Once again, Guerrero stole a match from Lynn as he channeled his late uncle Eddie and cheated by walloping Lynn with brass knuckles that he hid in his tights when Sean Traverson was looking the other way and rolling him up with a small package. When Lynn came to he started slapping the mat in frustration, knowing that he almost had his chief adversary beaten. Guerrero has beaten Lynn in every singles confrontation they've had but all of his wins have come via some questionable tactics. How much longer until Lynn stoops down to Guerrero's level?

Edge, AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy tore down the house in a match that had World Heavyweight Title implications. While the CWA Championship Committee never made it official it is widely believed that the winner of this match would be catapulted into the Title picture. All three men fought hard and Edge came away with a well deserved victory. He hung back early in the match as Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles, who have had their problems stemming from Gold Rush, took each other the school. Styles was eliminated after he missed the Pele Kick on Edge and Jeff Hardy hit the Swanton on a prone Styles. Edge and Hardy had the crowd on their feet as they are among the most hated and most loved wrestlers in the CWA, respectively. They went back and forth, scoring near fall after near fall on one another. The deciding fall was ultimately won by Edge thanks to his deadly Spear. He can hit that move at virtually any time over the course of a match, making it one of the most deadly finishers in the CWA. Edge picked up the victory and now has his sights set on the World Heavyweight Title that is currently held by his buddy, Randy Orton.

The North American Tag Team Champions have had their fair share of troubles against the challengers, The New South. Generation NEXT have lost non-title matches and singles matches against their adversary's quite frequently over the course of the last month. The New South scored a huge non-title victory this past Showdown and came into Heat Wave looking to capitalize on the momentum that they have gained. Austin Aries and Roderick Strong are gamers though and they proved that tonight as they seemingly put the last month of their respective careers out of their mind as they brought the "A" game tonight. This was a competitive match like everyone expected it to be but it seemed as if Generation NEXT came with something more. They've been hounded by detractors saying that they are unworthy champions since the day they won the North American Tag Team Titles but tonight they shut some of them up with a hard fought victory. After the match, The Panthers walked halfway down the aisle, mock applauding the efforts of Generation NEXT and signaling that the belts will soon be theirs. The tag team division in the Championship Wrestling Alliance is extremely deep and it seems that their will be no easy matches for Generation NEXT or any of the other teams.

The Main Event lived up the the expectations that had been set. Last month, Randy Orton won the vacant World Heavyweight Title after beating CM Punk in an 30 Minute Iron Man Match one fall to zero via an RKO with 30 seconds left in the match. This time the match went passed the 30 minute mark but the outcome was the same as Orton hit an RKO to pin Punk in the center of the ring. This match was not without some controversy as very early on in the match CM Punk seemingly had the title won after he hit the Pepsi Plunge on Orton. Referee Gary Spencer was knocked out courtesy of Orton pulling the ref in front of him as Punk delivered a dropkick. With the ref out of the picture Edge ran down to the ring and broke up the pin fall, hitting the Downward Spiral on Punk. This lead to Jeff Hardy running down to the ring and brawling with Edge into the crowd and all over the arena. The crowd was going nuts as the World Heavyweight Title match was going down in the ring while Edge and Jeff Hardy brawled all over the place. After picking up the victory, Orton made sure he got the hell out of dodge as he took the belt and ran to the back, not even stopping to take time to celebrate.

CM Punk has a legitimate gripe about being screwed out of the belt but how many more opportunities will he receive until it is someone else's chance to take a shot at the title. We'll find out more on the World Heavyweight Title situation this Wednesday at Showdown. One big match has already been signed as a three way tag team elimination match has been signed pitting the teams of Edge and Randy Orton, AJ Styles and Chavo Guerrero and CM Punk and Jeff Hardy against one another. Be sure to tune in!

Predictions
Shapy: 5/7. Good stuff predicting that not only would Brock Lesnar be the mystery opponent but that the match would end in a no contest. I guess my booking strategy is pretty obvious!

Good Card.

I like what is being done with Tito Ortiz (I personally hate the guy) but it is working well.

Keep up the good work

Great card!

Glad to see Danielson take out Jacobs and Puder, AmDrag is amazing.

Nice rating for a sub 5 minute match, guys would've been hustling around the ring.

Chavo and Lynn have a 2 out of 3 falls match in under 20 minutes, very nice.  I like the fast paced action.

Lesnar is the mystery guy 'eh?  He's a beast and it'll be interesting to see him face off against Ortiz.  Edge beating out Styles and Hardy is fine with me but then again I like neither Styles nor Hardy.  :)

Glad to see Generation NEXT retain.   Looks like you got a classic out of the main event with Orton going over Punk to retain his belt.

Nice card, lots of good ratings and good way for the fed to move along.  You have a lot of talent in this fed, keep it up!

I'm not so sure why, but for some reason my matches always produce unusually high ratings. I think I'm going to have to go through the circuit and see what everyone's work rate is looking like. I'm not a big believer in TNM's star system but it was unusually high for such a short match. The Punk/Orton match got five stars because it turned into one of those matches that TNM craves: nothing but finishers and other high impact moves.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm trying to decide whether I should add another singles title so that that there are more title opportunities for the talent under contract. I guess we'll see!

You could also think about increasing the average match times.  Although I guess you're probably booking it, but maybe not setting a finish?
