Non TNM Problem

Drunken FoolPosted on 10/28/09 at 22:32:40

I'm sure this is not the right place to talk about this but, ever since I got my computer last year, I've had this problem, especially while I am watching a DVD.

I will be sitting down enjoying a movie, when all of a sudden my screen goes blank. I try to bring the screen back with the mouse, but then a message comes up bouncing across my monitor "Input Not Supported"

Can anyone tell my why this could be happening, and would it be more of a hardware problem than a software problem?

(PS: I know it was not a screensaver kicking in because I always disable a screensaver before I watch a DVD)

Without knowing the system you have set up I doubt that the screen saver is the problem. There is a possibility that hardware could be the issue, but most likely it will be a software/settings issue.

There could be a graphic card incompatability, but from what I know I think it is just a screen resolution problem. Try this -
-On the bottom right toolbar, click on the icon of Intel(R) Graphic accelerator
-Click on Graphics Options
-Click on Panel Fit
-Click on Full Screen (no border)
Then after on your Desktop
-Click right click to bring up menu
-Click Graphic Properties
-Click on Monitor
-Click on Display Settings
-Try following set ups : 32 bit / 1280 X 1024 / 60 Hertz

If that doesnt work heres a link with more things to try

Just because your screensaver doesn't kick in, it doesn't mean your computer doesn't go into energy saving mode after a while. You need to disable those too.

Some screens can also detect if your don't do anything new (keyboard/mouse) for a while and go into energy saving mode too.

That's the thing...I was actually working on my resume and typing when it happened, and I ended up losing my info, which pissed me off that I had to make all the damn changes again.
