Match observations:
What a wild final Showdown before this Sundays mega event, CWA Gold Rush! Just as we did last week, tonight's singles matches were all used to determine who the 8 men  that will compete for the World Heavyweight Title will be. This time around the 6 and 7 ranked wrestlers, 5 and 8, 4 and 9 and so on would meet each other in the middle of the ring.

Randy Orton was able to get by Chris Jericho thanks to some nefarious tactics. With the referee knocked out to to an errant Chris Jericho spinning heel kick, Randy Orton delivered a particularly nasty looking RKO. Jericho was down and out so Orton took a chain from his tights and wrapped it around the lifeless fist of Jericho. He then proceeded to flop in the middle of the ring as if he got shot. Once referee Sean Traverson came to and saw the chain wrapped around Jericho's fist he DQ'd him. Orton certainly stole the match from Jericho and was damned pleased with himself afterwards. Edge met his "buddy" on the ramp to remind him that he didn't need to cheat to beat Jericho and that Orton better think long and hard about whether or not he is worthy of competing for the Heavyweight strap at Gold Rush.

AJ Styles continued his hot streak by defeating Edge in the middle of the ring with his Styles Clash finisher. The Rated R Superstar was in absolute disbelief after the match. With his loss last week to Tito Ortiz and this week to AJ Styles, Edge's place in the World Heavyweight Title Tourney is in serious jeopardy.

Tito Ortiz continued to look impressive. Here is the full transcript of the match:

They lock up.
Tito Ortiz whips Chavo Guerrero into the ropes, but Chavo Guerrero reverses it.
Chavo Guerrero hits Tito Ortiz with a shoulderblock.
Chavo Guerrero executes a drop toe hold on Tito Ortiz.
Chavo Guerrero goes for an inverted atomic drop, but Tito Ortiz blocks it.
Tito Ortiz goes for a thrust kick to the head, but Chavo Guerrero
ducks out of the way.
Chavo Guerrero runs into the ropes.
Tito Ortiz hits Chavo Guerrero with a football tackle.
Tito Ortiz uses a thrust kick to the head on Chavo Guerrero.
Tito Ortiz has the crowd going wild.
Tito Ortiz is going for the pin.
Rick Dixon counts: One, two, three.
The crowd is going crazy.

The winner is Tito Ortiz. Time of match: 0:00:59

With results like these, it is hard not to think of Tito Ortiz as a legitimate threat to capture the belt on Sunday. He has simply plowed through some of the biggest names in the industry today.

The Main Event tonight saw Virtual Insanity team up with Generation NEXT to take on The New South and NEXTGEN. The action was fast and furious as all eight men employ a high risk, high reward offense. The New South picked up the win when they hit their impressive Stars and Bars (Powerbomb/Shooting Star Leg Drop combo) on Austin Aries. That victory surely gives Jimmy Rave and Jason Cross momentum going into their match with Generation NEXT on Sunday for the North American Tag Team Titles.

Interesting circuit so far.  Nice to see some people being used in a fashion they normally wouldn't be.  That having been said, here are my prediction for the nifty little shindig called CWA Gold Rush

FINAL CARD for CWA Gold Rush:
8 man, one night tournament for the World Heavyweight Title
#1 Tito Ortiz v. #8 Chris Jericho
Tito will win.

#2 CM Punk v. #7 Edge
Edge will win but with Orton's help

#3 Jeff Hardy v. #6 AJ Styles
Jeff Hardy wins

#4 Bryan Danielson v. #5 Randy Orton
Mr. Small Package (is that what his girlfriend calls him too?) will defeat Randy Orton when Edge screws over Orton and helps Danielson.

Assuming that the tourney will follow normal seeding brackets, (match 1 faces match 4 and match 2 faces match 3) this puts Tito Ortiz vs Bryan Danielson and Edge vs Jeff Hardy

My picks are Tito and Edge to win the semis with Edge winning the whole thing all because Orton screws up outside interference and costs Tito Ortiz the title... thusly setting up an Ortiz vs Orton feud.

Two-out-of-three Falls Match for the CWA North American Tag Team Titles:
The New South vs. Generation NEXT
Generation NEXT wins fall #1... New South wins fall #2 and... NEXT takes fall three and the titles.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Jerry Lynn vs. Chavo Guerrero
I'll go out on a limb here.... Jerry Lynn will win this one.  :)

Yeah, I find a lot of the circuits that come and go (mine included) are too "WWE oriented" in the sense that they really don't differentiate too much from what we watch every week on TV. In the long run the only characters that will really have many similarities with their real life counterparts are Edge and Randy Orton because I have a huge man crush on the both of them. Yeah, I said it.

Thanks for the predictions, Gold Rush and a few more Showdowns should be up either tonight or tomorrow afternoon.
