GWA Ground Zero - 10/01/2005

AzraelPosted on 06/27/07 at 05:01:33

Fireworks explode as tonight's Ground Zero begins! Last week, Tully Blanchard gave Kurt Angle a title befitting the new status of this company, the GWA World Title. However, its first pay-per-view defense will be in a specialty match. And that match will involve six people. Two men will start out and then each four minutes, another man will enter the match. Participants will be able to be eliminated by pinfall or submission. The Anarchist Doug Williams will be the fifth man entering this match. Kurt Angle will be the last. The first four? That will be decided in this Royal Rumble tonight. The final four men in the match tonight will be the first four men in the Gauntlet, with the winner being the fourth man and so on down. Before we get to the match, however, there are some quick pre-taped promos to go through.

============

Jake Roberts: Everybody wants to change the world as a kid. Nobody grows up to say, "I wanna be middle management," or, "My life's goal is to be a janitor." No, everyone wants their lives to matter. Along the way, though, everyone makes concessions. It's inevitable. You're not smart enough to be an astronaut. You have stupid fingers and can't play the guitar. It happens. And then one day, you find yourself middle-aged and realize that you're only good at maybe one worthless thing. And for me, that thing is causing pain. So I've taken these two like-minded men, Halloween and Damien 666. I've taught them the true way to execute the DDT. I've given them the focus and the targets to make our goals reality. And tonight furthers that. There will be 29 other men to mutilate, 29 other men to torment, and no one will ever forget the damage that is done tonight. Trust me...

============

Chavo Guerrero Jr.: Last week, the wrestling world wrote me off. I was an afterthought in the triple threat match for the vacant T.V. Title. I was just someone to get in the way of Lance Storm and Rhyno. But in the end, I was the man who won. I bet people don't think I'm a threat tonight either. But I'll prove everybody wrong again.

============

Steve Corino: It's beautiful when a plan comes together, isn't it? Chris Jericho thought he was in control, but in reality, he was hanging onto the Dynasty by a thread. Christian, Styles and Rhyno didn't respect you Jericho. How could they? You always thought of wrestling as the first step of your entertainment career. You did not give this sport the respect that it deserves. And it showed in your matches. Every big match you had here Jericho, you lost, whether it was to the Rock or to Taz or to Christopher Daniels or whoever. But that's the old Dynasty Jericho. Because now it's being led by the King of Old School Steve Corino and it's going to be better than ever. And it all starts tonight. All four of us are in this Rumble, and you'd better believe that we're going to be taking everybody else out. Sooner or later, the World Title will be coming home to the Dynasty. And when that happens, everyone will refer to me...as God.

============

Christopher Daniels: Recently, I've had a few setbacks in my wrestling career. I jettisoned the dead weight that was Triple X, but it's not as though this has shown dividends. Elix Skipper managed to wrestle the match of his life at Fallout and pinned me on a lucky rollup. I'll admit it. But I'll also say it's not going to happen again. Now that I don't have to worry about carrying two dead weights along with me or bringing truth to the huddled, pathetic masses, I have a renewed focus. I've allowed myself to be diverted for too long with these petty squabbles. And with this Royal Rumble, I have my opportunity to shoot straight to the top of the GWA. And believe me, I'll take full advantage of it.

Romero works over Shamrock with a series of kicks to the head while he's on the mat, but Styles runs over and clotheslines him over the top rope, sending him to the floor (#23). Skipper whips Daniels into the ropes, but Daniels reverses it. He lowers his head, but Skipper grabs him by the head and drops him face-first to the mat. Styles kicks Shamrock in the head again and whips him into the ropes, powerslamming him as he comes back. Taz starts to get to his feet, but Dragon comes over and kicks him in the chest, starting the rest of the kick combo. Once it's done, Taz falls to the mat and Dragon tries to put him in the Dragon Sleeper, but Taz fights him to prevent it. He hits him with a series of forearms, leading Dragon to hit him with a soccer kick. Skipper brings Daniels to his feet, but Daniels staggers him with a jawbreaker and takes him down with a leg lariat. He brings Skipper to his feet and tries to bring him down with an STO, but Skipper counters with an elbowsmash and a spin kick. The Rock whips Corino into the ropes and lifts him for a spinebuster, but Corino rakes him in the eyes as he lifts him. Corino lands on his feet and scores with a DDT to lay the Rock out. He starts to pick the Rock up, but the Rock responds with a right hand out of nowhere to knock him down. Skipper brings Daniels up and whips him into the ropes. Daniels ducks under a spin kick on the first time back and a back elbow attempt on the second. He comes back and jumps at Skipper with a high cross body. Skipper catches him, but can't hold him and staggers back, hitting the ropes. When he does, he falls over the top rope, taking Daniels with him (#24, 25).

Meanwhile, Shamrock struggles to get to his feet, but Styles is there hitting him with an axhandle to the back. Styles tries to lift Shamrock up for the Styles Clash, but Shamrock counters with a double-leg takedown. He tries to turn Styles over for the Ankle Lock, but Styles manages to roll free. Shamrock tries to attack Styles, but Styles boots him in the crotch, sending him down quickly. Styles gets to his feet and attacks the Rock from behind. He smacks the Rock with some forearms, but the Rock turns around and hits him with a string of punches ending with the spit punch to send him flying. Corino comes up from behind and tries to pull the Rock back into the Old School Expulsion, but the Rock spins around and rocks him with punches to force him backward, then clotheslines him over the top rope and to the floor (#26)! Corino lands on his feet and backs into the guardrail, then yells at the Rock, who taunts him from inside the ring. Corino spits at the Rock, but the Rock laughs at him, allowing Styles to come up from behind him and hit him with a dropkick, sending the Rock teetering over the top. Corino then reaches up and grabs him, pulling him down to the floor (#27).

So the four men who will be in the gauntlet match are Taz, AJ Styles, Ken Shamrock and Ultimo Dragon. Now, they'll be fighting to find out the order in which they'll enter the match. Taz clubs Styles from behind with a forearm and forces him against the ropes while Dragon stomps on Shamrock. Shamrock slowly gets to his feet, but Dragon keeps up the pressure with a back suplex. Taz whips Styles into the ropes, but Styles comes back with a spinning leg lariat. Dragon brings Shamrock to his feet and pushes him into the corner, kicking him in the thigh repeatedly. He follows with a thrust kick to the chest, but Shamrock catches his leg and sweeps the other leg, causing both men to fall to the mat. Shamrock uses his free arm to hit Dragon with a series of forearms. Styles, meanwhile, slams Taz to the mat and then goes to the apron, coming back in with a slingshot splash. He brings Taz to his feet and tries to push him over the top rope, but Taz blocks it and fights him off. Styles hits a kick to the back of the head to stagger Taz and tries to eliminate him again, but to no result. Shamrock brings Dragon to his feet and hits him with knees to the stomach and tries to toss him over, but Dragon holds onto the top rope to prevent it. Shamrock brings Dragon back down to the mat and whips him into the ropes as Styles whips Taz across the ring. Taz, however, reverses his whip, leaving Styles and Dragon to run full-speed into each other! The two men stagger back and Shamrock hiptosses Dragon over the top rope and to the floor (#28.). Styles goes to one knee and tries to shake off the pain, but Taz grabs him by the back of the head and runs to the ropes, tossing him over and sending him to the floor as well (#29)! This makes Ultimo Dragon and AJ Styles the first two men in the gauntlet match.

Taz and Shamrock each turn around and stare each other down. They walk to the center of the ring and trade forearms. Taz starts to get advantage, but Shamrock takes Taz down with an ipponzei and dives to the mat, grinding into Taz's face with his forearm. Shamrock drives a couple knees into Taz's ribs before bringing him to his feet. He tries to lift Taz for a takeover suplex, but Taz breaks free and grabs Shamrock, bringing him down with a belly-to-belly suplex. Both men get up slowly and Shamrock makes a wild swing at Taz, which he dodges. Taz tries to lock in the Tazmission, but Shamrock prevents him from wrapping his legs around him and breaks the hold with a back suplex. He rolls Taz over and tries to lock in the Ankle Lock, but Taz manages to squirm out of the way. He gets to his feet and Shamrock rushes him with a running forearm to send him against the ropes. Shamrock whips Taz into the ropes and goes for a Frankensteiner, but Taz holds onto the ropes to avoid it. Shamrock lands hard and Taz waits for him to get up. Shamrock stumbles as he stands and Taz darts in, throwing Shamrock with the T-Bone Tazplex. Taz then brings Shamrock to his feet and tries to throw him over the top, but Shamrock holds onto the top rope. Shamrock fights his way back to a standing position, pulling on the top rope, which also makes Taz fly backward. He tries to gain his bearings as Taz gets up. Taz then charges, trying to clothesline Shamrock over the top rope, but Shamrock counters with a backdrop, taking him out of the ring and winning the match (#30).

So Ken Shamrock is going to be the fourth entrant into the Gauntlet match at November Lost! Ultimo Dragon and AJ Styles will enter first, then Taz four minutes later, then Shamrock four minutes later, then Doug Williams four minutes after that, and finally, the GWA World Champion, Kurt Angle. Shamrock leans against the corner with his arms in the air as Taz stays on the ground with his fists over his eyes. Taz took everybody's best shot for over an hour, but couldn't pull out the victory. Shamrock walks toward the center of the ring and screams as the camera fades.
