UW Fury (6/12/06)

MatteusPosted on 03/10/07 at 20:38:48

UW is back :)!  I'm trying to change the format so I actually have time to write these things once in awhile.  If people need a refresher, you can check my website (in my signiture), or, if you bug me enough, I'll actually write something to refresh people's minds about the goings on in my little universe... so... here we go!

UW Fury (6/12/06):

Welcome fans to UW Fury!  Last week, Randy Orton got some help from an unlikely source as Triple H helped him defeat Booker T in a Top Contenders match!  This means that at Kingdom Come, Orton will get a shot at Triple H's World title!  This volatile situation is set to explode, as the Legend Killer is in action and Triple H will be a guest on Planet Jarrett tonight!  Plus, North American champion Shelton Benjamin issued a challenge for a handicap match with Sean O'Haire and Chavo and that match will happen tonight!  And our main event will feature two bitter rivals trying to finish one another off in a Hardcore match, as John Cena and JBL go at it!  Who will get the upper hand heading into the Kingdom Come tournament?  All this action and more tonight!

"Iron Man" Rob Conway vs. "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton

Quite the opening contest this week!  After earning a shot at the World title last week in such a confusing fashion, you could tell from the beginning the Legend Killer's head wasn't in the game (no pun intended). Conway took direct advantage of this by overpowering him with a series of clotheslines and power moves. But once Conway made a mistake, Orton capitalized and dominated his larger opponent, wearing him down and taking away his size advantage. Conway made a comeback, but it was rather short-lived as Orton nailed him with an RKO out of nowhere to get the pinfall victory.

Randy Orton pinned Rob Conway with the RKO in 0:06:12.
Rating: ***

After the match, Orton proceeded to cut a promo on Triple H, saying that he doesn't know why Triple H helped him earn a shot at the World title last week, and he doesn't care either.  He doesn't need anyone's help and helping Orton will be the biggest and LAST mistake Hunter will ever make. He knows Trips is in the building tonight and he'll be Jarrett's guest on Planet Jarrett later tonight to explain himself. He promises that UW Security won't be able to stop him from crashing the party at Planet Jarrett. Tonight, he'll beat some sense into the World champion...

Last week - Petey Williams and Bobby Roode defeated Major League in a Top Contenders match to earn a shot at the World Tag Team champions, MNM.

MNM and Teddy Hart are in the back, cutting a promo on Team Canada. Hart says he's happy to see that Team Canada is united and doing well for themselves, because they're not the only ones with backup in this war. Mercury tells them they should just no-show at Kingdom Come instead of facing MNM for the belts because they're the best tag team in the world today and no one can beat them for the gold, especially those losers of Limited Edition. Nitro tells Dinsmore and Conway to stay out of their business or they'll make sure they stay away from the champs. Melina cheered her men on as they left for the ring...

Team Canada vs. MNM & "X-Rated" Teddy Hart

This one was tough to contain, especially with the unpredictable "X-Rated" Teddy Hart in there causing chaos. Team Canada worked fantastically as a unit, controlling the tempo of the match early on, but MNM took advantage of Melina's timely distractions to gain the upper hand. Her value to the tag champs cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, once Teddy Hart found his way into the match, all hell broke loose as he leaped across the ring and went after all his former teammates. It was bonzo gonzo until MNM went for the Snapshot on Young and the attempt was broken up by Bobby Roode. Roode hit a vicious spinebuster on Mercury and went for the cover but only got two when Hart broke the count. They fought it out for a moment, but Roode gained the upper hand and whipped him off the rope. Hart made the tag to Nitro but Roode didn't notice, going for a lariat and missing as Nitro nailed him in the chin with a Superkick! Hart tackled both remaining members of Team Canada as the ref counted the fall.

MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro) and Teddy Hart defeated
Team Canada (Bobby Roode, Eric Young and Petey Williams) when Nitro pinned
B. Roode with the Superkick in 0:15:16.

In Matteus' office, London and Kendrick were present to respond to Major League's challenge last week for a no-rules, falls-count-anywhere Top Contenders match. Much to the fans' dismay, London and Kendrick said they declined the challenge. But they instead offered Siaki and Richards the opportunity to face one another in Tag Team Warfare. Apparently, this means that there will be three stages of combat: two singles matches and a tag team match with no rules and falls count anywhere! Matteus didn't wait to hear from Major League and declared that the match would take place next week!

"The Juice" Orlando Jordan vs. Damaja

A pretty basic, by the numbers match here with Damaja coming out on top. What's more of note was that after the match, Damaja's former tag partner Doug Basham came to ringside and tried to speak with Damaja. Damaja was obviously surprised but would have no part of the conversation, walking right past "The Machine" and to the back. What could Basham have wanted to talk to Damaja about?

Damaja pinned Orlando Jordan with the Brain Damage in 0:08:36.
Rating: ** 1/2

Next up, Edge was in the ring cutting a promo about Kingdom Come. Apparently, he's going to be crowned King Edge in two weeks time, which the crowd disagreed with. He asked the fans who would stop him, and dueling chants broke out between various wrestlers, but out to answer the call was "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown! Brown said that Edge is just a two-bit punk whose only claim to fame was being a scumbag who only TRIES to pop ratings with his antics. At Kingdom Come, he'll win three times in one night and earn his shot at the World title. Edge got in the Alpha Male's face, but before a brawl could erupt, Gregory Shane Helms attacked him from behind! He and Edge started the attack until Brown was saved by none other than Booker T and we had a good old-fashioned pier six on our hands! UW Security wasn't going to even try to break this one up, and they brawled all over the ring. Booker eventually tossed Edge and Helms high-tailed it out of the ring as soon as Monty got the upper hand against him. Booker and Brown stood in the ring, eying one another up. Obviously these two are thinking about a possible match-up in the finals...

Last week - North American champion Shelton Benjamin challenged both Sean O'Haire and Chavo to a handicap match! What could he possibly be thinking? That match is next!

Handicap-Match:
North American champion Shelton Benjamin vs. Sean O'Haire & Chavo

The odds were too much for the NA champion to handle tonight, as he fell to his nemeses. Benjamin more than held his own during the beginning portions of the match, but Chavo and O'Haire started focusing their attacks on his injured ribs and making frequent tags in and out. The fans definitely kept Shelton in this one for as long as it went, but in the end, Chavo his the Gory Bomb and O'Haire picked up Benjamin's prone body and finished him with the Prophecy for the win.

Chavo and Sean O'Haire defeated Shelton Benjamin when O'Haire pinned S. Benjamin
with the Prophecy in 0:12:18.
Rating: ** 1/2

But the attack didn't end there, as Chavo and O'Haire looked to permanently maim the champion! They took turns nailing Shelton with his own title belt, staining the gold plates with his blood. Before they could do any further damage, however, a man came running from the back of the arena to save him... it was CHARLIE HAAS!! O'Haire saw Haas coming and threw the belt to an unsuspecting Chavo, and Haas tackled the former Guerrero and laid into him with punches before Chavo slithered out of the ring. Haas challenged O'Haire to step into the ring with him, but Sean shook his head, saying that it's not time for that yet... Haas attended to his fallen former partner as we went to commercial.

**This is MY World**... Jeff Jarrett welcomed everyone once again to Planet Jarrett, the only interview segment where the interviewer is held there against his will rather than being allowed to rehab his injured elbow and regain what's rightfully his. Jarrett introduced Triple H as a "place-keeper" and a "transitional champion" before The Game came out and got in Jeff's face. Jarrett sheepishly asked him the question on everyone's mind, why did he help Randy Orton win the Top Contenders Match last week?  Triple H said he wants to get his hands on the man who laid him out for months, he wants to get his hands on the masked man who bloodied him at No Justice last month, he wants Randy Orton.  And he doesn't care who he has to lay out to get what he wants.  He's the best damn wrestler in the company today and if anyone, and he eyed Jarrett, has a problem with that, they'd better get in line and get ready to bow down to The Game.  Jarrett looked nervous, but before he could respond, Orton appeared on the big screen and started to run down Triple H.  He outsmarted The Game once, and he'll do it again before the night is through.  Then, at Kingdom Come, he'll take Hunter's title and... as Orton rambled on, he appeared behind Triple H!  With Jarrett keeping the champion's attention on the screen, Orton crept up from behind and laid out Hunter with an RKO!  The message was pre-recorded! Orton and Jarrett shake hands and start attacking Triple H viciously until UW Security finally broke up the party.  This matter between Orton and Triple H continues to heat up...

Next week on Fury, a huge week of action!  Along with the Tag Team Warfare challenge between London & Kendrick and Major League, it's just been announced that Monty Brown, Booker T, Edge, and Gregory Shane Helms will be involved in a Four Corners match in a preview of what may come at Kingdom Come!  Who will gain the upper hand heading into the PPV?  And with Helms finally stepping into the ring with Monty Brown, you have to wonder what will happen.  Check it out next week!

Hardcore Match:
John Cena vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

Cena and JBL had at it tonight in an outstanding main event for the evening!  JBL controlled much of the opening portion of the contest, using whatever he could grab to keep Cena down, including choking him with a bullrope he was hiding underneath the ring.  Cena simply wouldn't quit, however, fighting back and was starting to hit on all cylinders, hitting the Five Knuckle Shuffle but only getting a two count.  Cena was on the bad end of a low blow soon thereafter, and JBL waited with a chair in hand as Cena stood up.  He swung, but missed, allowing Cena to hit the F-U for one...two..thr-kickout!  Cena stared in disbelief and wondered what he had to do to put the rough Texan away.  We soon found out as Cena brought a table inside the ring, set it up, and hit JBL with another F-U through the table!  The ref counted again, one...two...three!

John Cena pinned John Bradshaw Layfield after an F-U on a table in 0:20:10.
Rating: *** 1/4

It's over!  In a hard-fought fight, John Cena outlasted his rival and has some much-needed momentum heading into Kingdom Come.  You would think this would be the end of the line for these two, but last week JBL promised to have a big surprise for John Cena at Kingdom Come.  Despite that, this night belonged to Cena, as he celebrated in the ring to close the show.

With one show left to go before Kingdom Come, the card is fully loaded:

Hoping Orton takes it but I'm sure Triple H will find some way to win.

Love MNM they should hold on to the titles.
Like Sheldon Benjamin as champ. I think he can hold of Helms.

Boker should be able to take care of O'hare but I'm sure something may go a foot here.

Brown ins cool and all but my oney is on JBL.

Can never go wrong with Cena/Edge so my money is on Edge.
Snabbit888Posted on 03/19/07 at 17:38:38

Very little doubt that Orton was going to win, especially given that he's on his way to a title match.

Yay MNM!  That's all I need to say, as I still don't really like Team Canada.

Oh London and Kendrick... you sneaky...

A Bashams reunion?  Could it be!?  And I thought Jordan was getting a push in UW.  Is that no more with him being so soundly dismantled by Damaja?

I love those big style brawls before events like Royal Rumbles, King of the Rings, etc.  Don't think the finals will end up Booker/Brown, but a good tease regardless.

Shelton is gutsy, but in the end he can't overcome the odds, which is a good thing if you ask me.  And good to see Haas make the save.  We call that setting up a tag match!

I liked the Planet Jarrett sequence.  Cool way for Orton to outsmart Triple H and get the upperhand this week.

Cena wins in a good match.  The WWE Cena/JBL streetfight was really really good, so I'm sure this was as well.  Good stuff.
