WRESTLING RAGE X
Date: August 2, 2005
Location: Philadelphia, PA

Interview:
The show begins with a highlight package of all the various WRX stars performing their various moves including notably Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Teddy Hart, La Parka, and Syxx-Pac. From that video package, we go to the WRX Arena in Philadelphia, PA, where none other than Joey Styles is standing in the middle of the ring. The fans chant "Dub-R-X" trying to duplicate the famous "ECW" chants of years gone by. Joey Styles welcomes everyone to the premiere edition of Wrestling Rage X and thanks MTV for allowing a true wrestling promotion to be on its airwaves again. After the pleasantries, Joey Styles introduces the former owner of ECW and the owner of Wrestling Rage X, Paul Heyman! The fans chant "Thank You Paul E." repeatedly before Paul Heyman begins to speak.

Paul Heyman briefly talked about what brought about this venture of trying to run a wrestling promotion again. Basically, Paul Heyman felt that he had to try running a wrestling promotion one more time. It couldn't be ECW. Nothing could replicate the good ol' days of that promotion. Paul Heyman wants to start a new era and emphasize all aspects of professional wrestling. Whether that be sound technical wrestling, WRX has it. Or maybe you're a fan of lucha libre, WRX will have that too. But for all those extreme, hardcore fans, don't worry because Paul Heyman assures you that he has not forgotten those fans either. As for tonight, the WRX World Title will be decided in the main event of the show. But to determine the two contenders for that match, there will be two, 10 man battle royals. The winner of each battle royal will then square off in the main event next week where the WRX World Title will be on the line.

Three Way Dance:
Charly Manson won a Three Way Dance:
        x J. Evans defeated S. Moore after a rana in 0:04:04
x C. Manson defeated J. Evans after the Double Springboard Legdrop in
          0:05:51
Rating: *** 1/2

The fans in attendance were receptive to all three men as the WRX fans in Philadelphia are generally knowledgable about professional wrestling. Shannon Moore, or The Prince of Punk, has he refers to himself, is well known from his work in the WWE and WCW. Jack Evans has been a mainstay in the independent scene and most notably for Ring of Honor. His 630 splash is a sight to behold. Charly Manson is an import from the AAA lucha libre promotion in Mexico. As the name suggests, his look is patterned after rock singer Marilyn Manson. Like his two opponents, he's also adapt to the high flying style naturally because of his experience wrestling in Mexico.

The first match in WRX history would be wrestled under Three Way Dance rules, a homage to ECW. Shannon Moore would be the first to be eliminated after Jack Evans hit him with a rana. This would leave Jack Evans to square off against Charly Manson. Jack Evans is no stranger to the lucha libre style either as he has competed as Blitzkrieg in various promotions in his career. However, it was the more established lucha libre star Charly Manson who would prove to be the better man tonight. The ending was fast paced just like the match. Jack Evans tried to whip Charly Manson into the turnbuckle but Charly Manson reversed it and charged in with a axhandle bodyblock. From there, Charly Manson was able to hit the Double Springboard Legdrop to get the three count.

10-Man Battle Royal:
Kurt Angle won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x A. Stone threw out New Jack after a kick to the midsection in
          0:02:00
        x Octagon threw out Syxx-Pac in 0:06:48
x A. Stone threw out Sandman in 0:10:52
x Octagon threw out Teddy Hart after spinning headscissors in 0:22:44
x K. Angle threw out Sabu in 0:23:26
        x A. Stone threw out S. Richards in 0:26:02
x A. Stone threw out Octagon in 0:28:12
x Snow threw out A. Stone after the Snow Plow in 0:30:21
x K. Angle threw out Snow after a side step in 0:31:01
Rating: ***

This was an impressive battle royal that featured a blend of different wrestling styles. Alan Stone, one half of Los Guapos VIP (his tag team partner is Intocable) looked very impressive, eliminating four participants before being eliminated by Al Snow. The most impressive wrestler of all had to be Kurt Angle because he outlasted nine other wrestlers by eliminating Al Snow to win the first of two battle royals tonight. The fans cheered Kurt Angle, who can now rest and watch the next battle royal to see who he will be wrestling in next week's WRX World Title Match.

Interview:
Lacey, a Ring of Honor regular, is standing backstage about to interview Paul Heyman. Lacey wants to ask Paul Heyman about a huge announcement she's been hearing that he would make. Paul Heyman laughs and says that the word has spread quickly then. The huge announcement is that next week, on the show where there will be a WRX World Champion determined, he will announce who the Commissioner of WRX will be. While Paul Heyman says he would love to be match making every week, he has business to take care of backstage that deserves his attention. Lacey wants a few clues on the identity of the new commissioner. Is it someone with a background in hardcore wrestling like Mick Foley? Paul Heyman again laughs and says that the person he has agreed with to be the commissioner of WRX is a highly visible person who has a great respect for the wrestling business but also loves money. Paul Heyman says he'll leave it at that but before leaving, he wants to again thank the fans for watching WRX tonight.

10-Man Battle Royal:
Rob Van Dam won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x Truth threw out Cibernetico in 0:01:36
x Truth threw out Intocable in 0:02:21
x Dreamer threw out Slyk after a roundhouse right in 0:03:29
x Credible threw out Vampiro in 0:04:55
x Parka threw out M. Cross after the Mexican armdrag takedown in
          0:18:19
x Credible threw out Truth after a duck-down move in 0:23:31
x RVD threw out Credible after a Hotshot in 0:32:37
x Dreamer threw out Parka in 0:33:48
x RVD threw out Dreamer in 0:54:45
Rating: ** 3/4

While this match lasted longer than the previous battle royal, the beginning of it had a quick elimination. Cibernetico was eliminated quickly by The Truth when he was distracted by the taunting from La Parka. As anyone could imagine, Cibernetico, who refers to himself as The Main Man of lucha libre, was furious on the outside of the ring and threw whatever he could find at ringside down in anger. This was an even battle royal, as no one really established themselves as the man to beat. The majority of the eliminations occurred twenty-five minutes into the battle royal. This left Justin Credible, Rob Van Dam, La Parka, and Tommy Dreamer as the final four. After Rob Van Dam eliminated Justin Credible and Tommy Dreamer eliminated La Parka, the battle royal and a chance to face Kurt Angle next week for the WRX World Title came down to two friends and former ECW members. Before the action started again, Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer shook hands and wished each other luck. While this was a battle royal, this turned into a one on one wrestling match, as the final elimination didn't happen for almost twenty-two minutes. Rob Van Dam countered out of a Dreamer DDT and spin kicked Tommy Dreamer over the top rope to win the battle royal. What an incredible, hard fought victory this was for Rob Van Dam. It cannot be said that Kurt Angle and Rob Van Dam did not earn their spots in next week's main event for the WRX World Title.

After Rob Van Dam is declared the winner, Kurt Angle walks up on the stage and is shown smiling and clapping his hands. Rob Van Dam stares Kurt Angle down from the ring, his opponent in next week's WRX World Title Match.

I was wondering when we would see a circuit like this and on MTV non the less...Great opener seem like a nice mix of guys you have and you can't go wrong with Van Dam or Angle leading the new promotion to greatness, I'm pulling for the whole F'n show but wont be to upset if Angle wins.

Great card!
