Saints at War

Samoa Joe pinned Abyss after a Buff blockbuster in 0:17:27.
Rating: **** 1/4

And the Bracket D war heats up as Samoa Joe picks up a win, pulling even Steve Corino, for now. Abyss's chances of winning this thing are sunk, but he still looked like a monster tonight. These two behemoths gave each other everything they had and it really could have gone either way. Tonight however, it was Joe's mat wrestling that wore Abyss down. For the second show in a row, Abyss was beaten on the mat. It will be interesting to see how he fares in his next bracket match against Corino's brawling game.

The Embassy's music begins to play and the crowd boos as the entire faction makes their way to the ring. KENTA, Gail Kim, and Ace Steel all slide in the ring, but Nana commands Giant Bernard to hoist Jimmy Rave up onto the ring apron so he doesn't have to climb himself. Once he does, Bernard starts to get in himself, but Nana stops him and commands Bernard to then life Nana himself up onto the apron. Once Nana is in the ring, he gestures that Bernard can join them...after he brings Nana a mic.

PN: LIONHEART Pro...Saints at War is what they be calling this show. But we'll get to the reason for the name in a minute. Nana wanted to talk a little tonight about this army he's built here in LHP. Of course, you all know the crown jewel of the Embassy, Jimmy Rave.

The crowd boos loudly. Rave looks angry but Gail Kim quickly consoles. him.

PN: And there is none more beautiful...and deadly than dear Gail Kim. The Giant Bernard here, was a man without a home. People treated him like a monster, but with the Embassy he's found family. Ace Steel was abandoned by his friends for greener pastures...so I gave him asylum. And then we have dear, dear KENTA. There is not a finer example of a fighting machine anywhere else in the world. He is the Embassy's shock troop.

The crowd continues to boo each introduction, though not quite as vehemently as the Rave intro. However, Nana continues.

PN: Back to the title of the show. Saints at War. Ace Steel versus Colt Cabana. With their respective partners of course. Mr. Cabana, you and your friends forgot about Mr. Steel the first chance you had, and tonight you pay the price. As for Mr. Marufuji, wrong place wrong time my man. Now, KENTA, Ace, head to the back, your services won't be needed and you can get ready for later on.

The two head to the back.

PN: Ms Kim and myself will remain at rinside as Jimmy Rave defeates Spanky and moves one step closer to his destiny as the first YLGP champion. The Giant Bernard will also stay at ringside to scout his next opponent in the title brackets, Jimmy Rave!

The crowd boos at the thought of the two Embassy members facing each other. The boos turn to cheers however as Spanky hits the ring and the match is on.

Jimmy Rave pinned Spanky with the Greetings from Ghana in 0:10:41.
Rating: *** 1/2

The Embassy pulls out yet another win as this match was really pretty much all Rave, all the time. Spanky got in a few brief flurries of offense but he just looked totally outclassed in this one as Rave picks up his second victory and is just one win away from sweeping his bracket. That one win will be against fellow Embassy member Giant Bernard...

Cheerleader Melissa pinned Amber O'Neal after the Air Raid Crash in 0:08:23.
Rating: * 3/4

Melissa revenged her loss against O'Neal at the last show. In a brutal, and not very pretty match, Melissa showed that while Team Blondage has great team work, she is still a top women's singles wrestler.

As Melissa celebrates, Krissy Vaine hits the ring and attacks her from behind. They brawl and Melissa seems to be getting the upper hand when Amber O'Neal finally gets back to her feet, and joins in to make it a two on one beatdown. This continues for a few moments until Team Blondage pulls Melissa back to her feet and drills her with the Blonde Bomb (Double reverse Russian legsweep). Vaine spits on Melissa's prone form before the two blondes leave the ring.

6-Man Battle Royal:
CIMA won a 6-man Battle Royal:
x CIMA defeated C. Sabin after the Schwein in 0:18:54
x C. Daniels defeated Castagnoli after a gutwrench suplex in 0:21:28
x C. Daniels defeated Styles after a powerslam in 0:21:47
x C. Daniels defeated D. Andrews after the Last Rites in 0:25:03
x CIMA defeated C. Daniels after an inside cradle in 0:27:04
Rating: *****

[Allison Danger interfered against CIMA.]

Amazing six man battle here. All six men showed a lot of fire, but the bout was dominated by Christopher Daniels and CIMA. Daniels especially focused a lot early on against AJ Styles before people started being taken out at a very rapid rate. With the final two, Daniels seemd to have things well in hand, going for the Angel's Wings after an aborted BME, but CIMA used his quickness to slip out of it and steal the win with an inside cradle.

Cut to backstage, the Briscoes are standing in their ring gear.

MB: At the last show, we weren't involved in the fall in the tag team four way dance.

JB: But that match still counts as a loss for us.

MB: And we don't accept losses.

JB: Tonight we're facing the Havana Pitbulls.

MB: Bring it boys, it's time to man up.

Cut back to the ring as the Pitbulls make their entrance...

The Briscoes (Mark Briscoe and Jay Briscoe) defeated
The Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero) when J. Briscoe pinned
R. Romero after the Spike Jay Driller in 0:13:51.
Rating: ****
[Julius Smokes interfered against Jay Briscoe.]

Great tag team action in this one. Once again, the Pitbulls started off hot and strong but couldn't keep up the pace and ended up dropping this one to the Briscoes. Things seemed about to go the Pitbulls' way when Julius Smokes put Ricky Reyes' foot on the ropes after a Spike Jay Driller. A few minutes later though, Jay nailed Reyes with a Jay Driller on the floor, knocking him out and forcing Romero to wrestle the last few minutes of a losing effort by himself.

Cameras cut to the back where an aide is holding an ice back to the back of Cheerleader Melissa's head.

CM: Team Blondage, you want to play games? I'm the real deal in women's wrestling, and I'm going to make you pay. At the next show, I'm challenging both of you to a handicapped falls count anywhere match. And bring your A game ladies, cause I'm out for blood.

She sneers a little as the cameras cut to black for intermission.

-INTERMISSION-

Matt Sydal pinned Austin Aries after a flying spinning leg lariat in 0:10:11.
Rating: ** 1/4

These two were all over the ring in this one going back and forth. However, there never seemed to be any real flow to the match, and with both men being fan favorites the crowd didn't get into to too much. However, Sydal still walked out with the win, taking a commanding lead in Bracket A.

Sydal is still celebrating in the ring when suddenly commissioner Chris Jericho's music hits. Jericho makes his way to the ring to a standing ovation as he gets in the ring and shakes Sydal's hand before getting a mic.

CJ: How are you all liking LIONHEART Pro so far?

HUGE POP!

CJ: That's what I thought you'd say. Our last show was full of great wrestling, and this one hasn't disappointed either. And we still have three big matches to go. However, before we can do that, I have a few announcements to make. First off, our next show will see the YLGP Championship picture become a little bit clearer. Bracket B matches will be AJ Styles versus Spanky...

The crowd cheers for this prospective match up.

CJ:...and Giant Bernard versus Jimmy Rave. Keep in mind folks, if Jimmy wins this match, he wins a spot in the championship match, no matter the outcome of Styles/Spanky and Styles/Bernard at the next show. Bracket C matches will also be well under way at the next event as Colt Cabana takes on CIMA and KENTA faces one of the men he is wrestling tonight, Marufuji!!!

Loud crowd cheer at both of these matches.

CJ: Bracket D is also shaping up as next time in LHP Abyss will take on Steve Corino and Nigel McGuinness will face Samoa Joe. That bracket is still wide open.

Even more cheers.

CJ: However, Bracket A is a little bit different. Last week, Homicide no-showed our debut event without contacting us. Because of this, Homicide has been released from his LIONHEART contract.

Very mixed reaction to this.

CJ: Because of this, Bracket A has become a three man bracket. While Austin Aries and Ace Steel still have to face each other, Matt Sydal has already defeated both men, and thus it is my ruling that after this win tonight, Matt Sydal has won the first spot in the YLGP Championship four way!

The crowd cheers and Matt Sydal gets a huge grin on his face.

MS: Thank you so much sir. It's an honor to compete for the title.

CJ: You bet it is. Now, a few more matches for next week. I've granted Cheerleader Melissa's request, though made a slight change to it. I love the women of LIONHEART Pro, and I know you fans do as well.

Big cheer for this, especially from the male fans.

CJ: Next week, Cheerleader Melissa will be teaming with Daizee Haze to take on Team Blondage in a falls count anywhere match. But, there are two more women athletes on the LIONHEART roster. A third team will be involved, consisting of Tracy Brooks and Sara Del Ray. My last announcement for the night is that next week, Christopher Daniels will take on Claudio Castognoli in a singles match. Enjoy the rest of the evening.

The crowd cheers Jericho and Sydal both leave.

BJ Whitmer pinned Lotus with the Wrist Clutch Exploder in 0:08:43.
Rating: ** 3/4
[Lacey interfered against Lotus.]

Sheer dominance here by BJ Whitmer. Lotus was simply outclassed by the bigger man who threw him around the ring like a rag doll. BJ finally had mercy on the young Lotus and put him out with a sickening Wrist Clutch Exploder.

The crowd begins to boo as Corino's music hits and he comes to the ring escorted by Tracy Brooks. They climb in the ring and Corino, as is his want, grabs the mic.

SC: Last week I did what none of you thought I could do. I pinned Samoa Joe in the middle of the ring.

Loud boos.

SC: And tonight, I'll do it again. Nigel McGuinnes is a great wrestler, and a great athlete, but I am the King of Old School. There is nothing that can stop me from getting into the YLGP Championship match, and once I'm there, nothing can stop me.

More boos. They quickly turn to cheers however as Nigel's music hits and he comes out of the entranceway holding a mic of his own, and his trademark iron in his other hand.

NM: Did I hear some Yank running his mouth about how no one could stop him? Look at me chap, I'm Nigel McGuinness, the best pure wrestler in the world today. I'm in this tournament just like you, and I'm in it to win !

Big pop as he drops the mic and makes his way to the ring.

Steve Corino pinned Nigel McGuinness with the Old School Expulsion in 0:20:53.
Rating: **** 3/4
[Tracy Brooks interfered against Nigel McGuinness]

Amazing bout between these two. Neither man seemed to gain a firm advantage until the end. Tracy Brooks had just thrown Corino a chair, which Nigel managed to dodge. He then picked up his own iron and went to hit Corino with it, but thought better of it, tossing it to Tracy and yelling "A lady should always have an iron." This would prove his downfall however, as Tracy hit him in the head with it while Nigel was doing a handstand in the corner and Corino had the ref distracted. A dazed Nigel stumbled out of the ropes, right into the Old School Expulsion and just like that Corino is 2-0 in his Bracket.

The Embassy (Ace Steel and KENTA) defeated Colt Cabana and Naomichi Marufuji
when KENTA pinned Cabana with the Busaiku Knee Kick in 0:28:22.
Rating: *****
[CIMA interfered against Naomichi Marufuji.]

A completely off the charts main event. The crowd was electric for this one as it saw former Second City Saints members Cabana and Steel facing each other and former tag partners Marufuji and KENTA going at it. All four men brought their best to the table in this one and momentum in the contest continued to sway back and forth the entire bout. Near the end of the match however, CIMA came to ringside and pulled down the ropes as Marufuji was sent into them. The two began to brawl into the crowd, but ref Gary Cook made the "interesting" decision to keep the match going in the Embassy's favor. Colt tried his best, but he just wasn't up to the challenge of defeating both KENTA and Steel at once.

The Embassy members leave the ring in short order. Colt slowly makes his way back to his feet however and grabs a mic.

CC: ACE!!! This isn't over Ace! I want you again Ace. Next week or not, I'm going to get my hands on you and make you pay for tarnashing the legacy of the Saints!

End Show.

Card rating: *** 3/4

Match observations:

Wow, what a show tonight. Some big announcements by the Commish tonight, and some big fall out. Jimmy Rave looks a shoe in for the title match, joining Sydal there while the other two brackets are a bit more competative. A quick rundown for the announced matches for next week's show:

Team Blondage vs Daize Haze/Cheerleader Melissa vs Sara Del Ray/Tracy Brooks

AJ Styles vsSpanky in a Bracket B match

Jimmy Rave vs Giant Bernard in a Bracket B match

Steve Corino vs Abyss in a Bracket D match

Samoa Joe vs Nigel McGuinnes in a Bracket D match

Colt Cabana vs  CIMA in a Bracket C match

Naomichi Marufuji vs KENTA in a Bracket C match

Christopher Daniles vs Claudio Castagnoli

and announced after the show:

Irish Airborne vs Lacey's Angels

Commissioner Jericho also heard Colt Cabana's request for a singles match with Ace Steel, be declined on giving it at the next show, saying the tournament matches were more important, but that Cabana would get his singles match at a later date.

CarlzillaPosted on 12/04/06 at 07:19:34

Joe over Abyss, not to surprising, although the buff blockbuster is something I've never seen Joe use before.

I don't buy KENTA as a heel in the US. He's cocky, but he's also an internet darling...he can do no wrong. You're going to have a lot of work to do getting your version of the Embassy to grow on me...especially since I hate Gail Kim and I love KENTA.

Rave over Spanky, again not too shocking. I like Spanky, but he's not even close to be title worthy.

* 3/4? That's the lowest match rating I've ever seen you get. I'm not a fan of either girl...I probably would have used the restroom during this match.

CIMA is awesome, good to see him winning. Davey Andrews...he's sure not Davey Richards...

Your interview segment with the Briscoe's was very inauthentic...I could understand the whole thing. Good match though, and even though I'm pushing the shit out of the Pitbulls, I still love the Briscoes.

I started my intermission early once I saw Cheerleader Melissa trying to talk...

Kinda surprised Aries and Sydal didn't do better, and I wasn't expecting Sydal to win. I'm predicting him to take the block.

Whitmer is overlooked a lot...I really enjoy him. Glad to see him win...I need to pick him up for one of my feds sometime.

I was pulling for McGuinness in this one, but I was expecting Corino to win anyway. Hopefully Nigel can come back to take his bracket.

Good main event, I'm not that much of an Ace Steel fan, but he was teaming with KENTA so it was hard not to want  him to take a win. I'm still hoping Cabana kills him in a singles match though.

My predictions for bracket winners are Sydal, Corino, Marufuji and Bernard...

Yup, to duplicate a proper Briscoes promo, you need them to constantly interrupt each other and have them talk at the same time, ensuring that nobdoy can understand what they're trying to say.. probably not as easy in writing though..
CarlzillaPosted on 12/04/06 at 11:03:24

They would have also needed to repeat "man up..." about 25,000 times at the end. sometimes spicing it up with the addition of things like "time to..." and "ya betta..."
wizardneedsfoodPosted on 12/04/06 at 17:23:59

Haha, just imagine the whole thing jumbled up with them speaking over top of each other.

And I'll see what I can do about getting you to hate KENTA.
