DCW - A Wild Western Extravaganza - Day One

rey619Posted on 11/15/06 at 15:34:26

Well, here it is... my experimental project. I suggest you check out my previous post on DCW for some explanation what this really is... cause I am quite certain it's nothing you've ever seen before.

Just some notes on my new write-up style. I decided to experiment a little here as well. Everything is coming out of the mouth of the two announcers, Dave "Doc" Prazak and Joey "the Kid" Styles. As a result, it's quite long, but I think it's quite easy to read. Anyways, I would appreciate honest feedback. If this style is something you are quite aversed to, please let me know, and I will consider doing it otherwise.

A Wild Western Extravangaze - Day One

Dave "Doc" Prazak: "Welcome to the first day of wrestling here in beautiful Dodge City! My name is Dave "Doc" Prazak, and I'm here with my colleague, Joey "the Kid" Styles!
Joey "the Kid" Styles: "It's gonna be a glorious night here in Dodge, Dave. Not only is the US Marshall Starr finally gonna put that desperado Cruz behind bars, but we'll see if the no-good Webb Brothers suffer the same fate!
DP: "Speaking of which, here they are, being led to the ring in chains as the scoundrels they are!"
JS: "Nate and Josh Webb.. just look at their moustaches, no wonder they spend more time behind bars then not. They are notorious trouble makers, that's what they are!"
DP: "And the duo to administer punishment this time around is none other than two of the monks at the Monastery of the Red Rose, Brother Senshi and Brother Dave, led by the beautiful Sister Alyson."
JS: "I would love to get beneath her habit, if you know what I mean."
DP: "Sorry Joey, I really think she has taken a vow of celibacy."
JS: "Well, she can always break them for me, can't she?"

The Webb Brothers (Josh & Nate) vs The Monastery of the Red Rose (Brother Dave & Brother Senshi) w/Sister Alyson in a Jailtime Match

[...]
DP: "As is the custom of all monks of the Monastery, both Dave and Senshi have cut of all their hair."
JS: "No chance of seeing a hair vs hair match, that's for sure."
DP: "Oh! Nate rocks Senshi with an enzuigiri, and tags Josh. Moonsault! Can the Webb Brothers escape imprisonment?"
JS: "No, Senshi kicks out. Close one there."

[...]
DP: "All monks of the monastery practices from dusk till dawn, and it shows on Senshi's physique."
JS: "Yeah.. but Brother Dave's a little pudgy. Still, he is the master of the Spinebuster! Wow, did you see that? Josh's back must have snapped in two!"
DP: "Holy cow! But Nate comes to the rescue, drop-kicking Dave to the outside. The Webbs are in control again now!"
JS: "But wait, Sister Alyson is taking advantage of the ref checking on Brother Dave's condition. Wow! She hit Nate with a heavy crucifix!"
DP: "Senshi picks up Nate, Senshational!" (Ki Krusher)
JS: "And that's the three count. Guess the Webbs had it coming anyway!"

The Monastery of the Red Rose (Brother Dave and Brother Senshi) defeated
The Webb Brothers (Josh Webb and Nate Webb) when Senshi pinned N. Webb with the
Ki Krusher in 0:11:37.
Rating: ** 3/4

DP: "The Monastery are celebrating as the Webbs are led away by Sheriff Richards. But wait, what is this? It's the Native American, Tatanka!"
JS: "And his lovely daughter, Alere Little Feather! Let's see what they have to say!"
Tatanka: "Monstery Red Rose.. we had enough. We only want live in peace in our teepee, with our nature gods. We only want peace. You come preach to us about your god, but we not listen. Please, leave my daughter alone."
Sister Alyson: "Heathen! People of Dodge, heed my words! This man and his daughter are confessing to false gods of rocks and trees and winds and weather. We of the Monastery of the Red Rose have realized that this stubborn man is too old to change his wicked ways, but the daughter is ripe for conversion. We will not stop until we have quenched the unholiness within her, so sayeth the Lord"
Tatanka: "Fine, you know what? Tomorrow, my daughter will prove that the spirits of our ancestors are in her. She will have fighting spirit, and she will defeat you, white woman!"

"Shotgun" Arik Cannon vs "Classic" Scott Colton

DP: "Well, that was certainly something. Guess we'll see a nun vs a native american girl tomorrow."
JS: "Can't wait. But here and now, the grumpy stagecoach driver Arik Cannon has requested a match with the notorious high-stakes gambler, "Classic" Scott Colton!"
DP: "Apparently, they are trying to settle a dispute that arose at the tables at the Ambrosia Inn a couple of weeks ago. Colton won all of Cannon's hard-earned money, and Cannon is claiming he cheated!"
JS: "Colton would never cheat!"
DP: "Well, here he is, all the ladies are fainting on us, this one's a charmer!"
JS: "And Cannon is telling the ref to check Colton for concealed weapons, a smart move by Cannon."
DP: "Wait a minute, what's this? He found two aces in Colton's right sleeve! And one in the left!"
JS: "Colton is just shrugging, what a character! And Cannon attacks Colton from behind as the ref is putting the cards away!"

[...]
DP: "Hard elbows from Cannon there, and a kick to the gut! No wonder the stage coach hasn't been robbed in months, Cannon is one tough cookie."
JS: "But he misses the clothesline, and Colton responds with a dropkick. Cannon is back on his feet, Quebrada from Colton!"
DP: "Must have been something he picked up from his Mexican poker friends."

[...]
DP: "Wow, that backbreaker really stunned Colton. Cannon bounces off the ropes and goes for the Glimmering Warlock."
JS: "Colton ducks, and hits the rana for a pinfall attempt."
DP: "He pulls the tights... 1..2..3! Colton wins it!"
JS: "Cannon tries appealing to the ref, but to no avail. Wait a second, Cannon reaches down his trunks to show the ref what Colton did... and pulls out an ace?"
DP: "Colton grins at Cannon as he makes a hasty retreat. Colton cheated blatantly, but the crowd loves him anyways. Guess Cannon just needs to stay out of the Ambrosia Inn until next payday!"

Scott Colton pinned Arik Cannon after a rana in 0:11:34.

Daizee Haze vs Sumie Sakai

DP: "Time for some women's action, as owner of the Lonely Rancher Brothel, Lexie Fyfe pits two of her girls, Sumie Sakai and Daizee Haze against one another."
JS: "Fyfe says that wrestling hardens the women, making them better assets for the feisty businesswomen."
DP: "Well, this match starts out with a lot of hair pulling. Fyfe should be careful, not many customers like bald girls."
JS: "Yeah, but I know you do, Dave."
DP: "What? That's ridiculous. Ooh, here's Sakai with a spinning headscissors. Haze tumbles out of the ring."
JS: "And is sent right back in by Fyfe. She doesn't waste any time.
DP: "Haze ducks the clothesline attempt from our resident oriental pleasure girl."
JS: "And hits the Daizee Cutter. This one is in the books, Dave."

Daizee Haze pinned Sumie Sakai with the Daizee Cutter in 0:07:38.
Rating: ** 3/4

Mike Quackenbush vs Xavier

DP: "Mike Quackenbush is back in Dodge after travelling across the globe for years. He's been to Europe, he's been to the Far East. Heck, I think he might have been to Africa as well!"
JS: "I hope for his sake he's picked up a thing or two, Xavier is a big and tough guy, no wonder there's never trouble at the Ambrosia Inn."

[...]
JS: "Big kneelifts from the bouncer. You can just see the wind being driven out of Mike's body."
DP: "Ouch. And what an enzuigiri. Xavier is agile for his size."
[...]
DP: "Quackenbush has taken the match to the ground now, using a variety of painful holds on Xavier, wearing down his joints."
JS: "What do you call that move? That must've been something he picked up on his travels. Look how Xavier's knee and elbow bend?"
[...]
JS: "WOw, what a stiff superkick from Xavier, Mike is reeling, but doesn't fall down."
DP: "Xavier is about to finish him with the X-Breaker now... oh! Counter!"
JS: "Quackenbush with the small package, and he gets the win!"
DP: "What an upset here tonight, Quackenbush was beat from pillar to post, but the traveller and author Quackenbush still managed to pull it off."
JS: "I'll bet he'll put this in one of his popular novels, which is mostly about himself."

Mike Quackenbush pinned Xavier after a small package in 0:11:12.
Rating: ** 1/4

The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) w/Conrad Kennedy III vs The Black and the Brave (Tyler Black & Marek Brave)

DP: "I hate those cocky Europeans. They're always so full of themselves, talking about how primitive and rustic America is compared to the 'cultivated' Europe."
JS: "The crowd hates them, that's for sure. Hopefully, the two youngsters will be able to teach them a lesson in humility."
[...]

DP: "The KoW has a really fluent teamwork, I'll give them that. Nice belly-to-belly from Claudio, and a swift kneedrop from Hero."
JS: "I wonder whose hero he is. He isn't my hero, that's for sure!"
DP: "Claudio is really unleashing the european uppercuts on Tyler now, his chest is red and raw already."
JS: "A tag to Hero. Hey, ref! Hero is blatantly choking him!"
DP: "Unbelievable, that may be ok in Europe, but it's cause for instant dq over here."

[...]
DP: "The Black and the Brave is on fire now, nice leg lariat from Black."
JS: "And Brave is going high risk. Is it possible... yes! Shooting Star Press. Did you see the elevation on that one? Incredible."
DP: "He didn't get the three-count though, Hero made the save."
JS: "But the youngsters keep dominating. Marek with an excruciating abdominal stretch on Claudio here. But what is Hero doing? He's distracting the ref!"
DP: "Seems like he claims someone in the crowd threw something at him. I didn't see anything?"
JS: "That bastard is lying, and what is the third member, Conrad Kennedy III doing? He's breaking the hold and slams Brave to the ground."
DP: "The ref is back, but he didn't see anything! Castagnoli picks up Brave... Ricola Bomb!"
JS: "I can't believe it. The Kings of Wrestling... bah.. the Cheats of Wrestling more like it."
DP: "And here is Chris Hero mouthing off again.."

Chris Hero: "You Americans are so pathetic. You can't come up with anything better than these two punks? Unbelievable. And.. shut up! Don't you know who we are? We are European royalty, we are the Kings of Wrestling, and we deserve more respect than this. Tomorrow night, we expect better opponents!"

The Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli) defeated
The Black And The Brave (Tyler Black and Marek Brave) when Castagnoli pinned
M. Brave with the Ricola Bomb in 0:13:36.

BJ Whitmer w/Ted DiBiase vs Tony Tornado

DP: "Can you believe those morons? I hope somebody kicks their asses really good tomorrow"
JS: "Speaking of ass-kicking, I highly suspect Tornado of getting some of that in this match."
DP: "Yup, the outspoken businessman Ted DiBiase is bringing his guy, Confederacy soldier BJ Whitmer to face the black piano player tonight. As well as his own, personal servant, Jerelle Clark. It seems as if DiBiase has some choice words for poor Tony before the match."

Ted DiBiase: "Listen sonny, I don't know who released you from the cotton fields, but you should have stayed at the piano at the least. Your kind does not belong in the ring with decent men like BJ here."
DP: "Wow.. I am not sure if Tornado deserved that.. he is a decent wrestler, after all."
JS: "He's on the offensive already, living up to his name. Leg lariat on BJ, followed by a spin kick and a flying sunset flip for a two count."
DP: "BJ can't keep up with his pace, he's everywhere!"
JS: "Wait, ah.. BJ catches him with a spinebuster, grounding the flyer. Brainbuster to follow up, but Tony kicks out."

[...]
DP: "Tornado is tossed to the outside, giving BJ a breather here. I think Tony's conditioning is better than BJ's."
JS: "DiBiase is ordering Clark to attack Tornado behind the ref's back, but Clark doesn't want to!"
DP: "Seems like he has to, DiBiase is threatening to use the whip!"
JS: "Clark hits Tornado in the back, but it doesn't look like he's happy doing it."
DP: "I haven't seen Clark happy ever, so..."
JS: "Tornado climbs back into the ring, but BJ awaits him!"
DP: "He's got him prepared for his finisher!"
JS: "There it is! The Long Live the Confederacy! (Wrist Clutch Exploder)"

BJ Whitmer pinned Tony Tornado with the Long Live the Confederacy! in 0:11:26.
Rating: ** 3/4

Jerelle Clark vs .. ?

DP: "It looks like DiBiase has more to say. He's pulling Jerelle Clark up into the ring."
DiBiase: "Now, I will prove to you that only indentured servants such as my own Jerelle Clark turn out competent wrestlers. I need an opponent though... "
JS: "Looks like DiBiase is scanning the crowd for some dupe to have Clark fight."
DP: "Looks like he has set his eyes on the town simpleton, Eugene."
JS: "He's signalling to BJ, who pulls Eugene up into the ring."
DP: "This is just bad, Eugene cannot wrestle, can he?"

[...]
JS: "Clark has clearly opened best here, as he's wearing down Eugene with a hammerlock."
DP: "Eugene breaks free, but is met with a clothesline."
JS: "Eugene looks angry now, he's all puffing and huffing. Ouch, elbow right to Clark's face."
DP: "The simpleton is on a roll here, a Stunner! A Stunner! He whipped out the classic move from the Texas Ranger Legende, the Rattlesnake Steve Austin!"
JS: "Eugene does know how to wrestle... but is cut short by an enzuigiri from Clark."
DP: "Clark goes for the 630 Senton... Eugene rolls away!"
JS: "Clark is right back on his feet though, but Eugene is behind him now."
DP: "Rollup....1...2..3! We have an upset here tonight! Eugene, the town simpleton comes out the winner."

Eugene pinned Jerelle Clark after a roll up in 0:07:17.
Rating: ** 3/4

DP: "DiBiase is not happy about being ridiculed like this. He's shaking his head and calling BJ back in the ring."
JS: "He's telling Clark to take his punishment. What does he mean by that?"
DP: "I don't know... hey, BJ grabs Clark and positions him for the Long Live the Confederacy."
JS: "Clark doesn't resist it! Ouch.. that gotta hurt."

Austin Starr vs "the Notorious" Nelson Cruz in a Jailtime Match

DP: "Starr gets a huge ovation from the crowd, as usual."
JS: "And here's the dangerous desperado Cruz, being led to the ring in chains by Sheriff Davey Richards. Richards who is pissed off about mayor Flehr's decision to have Starr fight the jailtime match, and not him."

DP: "Cruz is on the offensive here, exploder suplex from the Mexican outlaw."
JS: "Starr's no rookie, he's responding with a cradle suplex and a stomach breaker, driving the air out of Cruz."

[...]
DP: "Both men tumble to the outside! Richards and his deputies are clearing the crowd, this can be dangerooooous!"
JS: "Cruz positions the dazed Starr on some chairs and runs towards him.. plancha! On the chairs!"
DP: "They're both down!"
JS: "Cruz is slowly standing up.. he picks up a chair.. smashes it down on Aries' head!"

[...]
DP: "Starr has turned the match back around now, big brainbuster on Cruz!"
JS: "He's climbing... we know what's next! 450!"
DP: "Cruz kicks out! Unbelievable! Starr can't believe it either, he's asking the ref if it really was only 2!"
JS: "Cruz is slowly crawling towards the corner.. he's picking up something.. was that the chains he came in?"
DP: "Yeah, why isn't Richards doing anything! This is his responsibility!"
JS: "Cruz gets back up on his feet.. big lariat! With the chain!"
DP: "Starr is out... Cruz gets the pinfall... Cruz is a free man!"
JS: "I can't believe it.. and neither can the crowd.. only the Hispanics are celebrating Cruz' freedom."
DP: "And look at the smirk on Richards' face as he passes mayor Flehr. Unbeliveable... the Sheriff would rather have Cruz set loose, then see someone else beat him!"

Nelson Cruz pinned Austin Starr after a lariat in 0:17:29.
Rating: ****

DP: "Well, that's all for now Joey. But we'll be back tomorrow with more wild wrestling here from Dodge City!"
Snabbit888Posted on 11/15/06 at 20:21:21

Ha ha... the town simpleton!  It'll take me a bit to come around on everything as obviously this is gimmicky, but this is fun.  Yay fun!
UnrightPosted on 11/19/06 at 15:57:13

Great job all around! Can't wait to see what you've got lined up for the future!

I like the duel announcer style of writing. It gives everything a good flow and the [...] gives you a break from having to commentate the whole match.

Poor Jerrelle Clark in the old Virgil role. You should probably string it out as long as the WWF did, the blow-off match but probably the biggest match of Mike Jones (Virgil/Vincent/Shane/Curly Bill)'s career.

I hope you bring in the Undertaker. His gimmick is better suited to the wild west era than today.
rey619Posted on 11/20/06 at 17:02:36

Undertaker was (and still is) in the back of my head. Problem is, I don't know how well he would mesh with these predominantly indy guys. Time'll tell. Good that you enjoyed the writing style, wanted to try something new.
Well, here's a little preview for Day Two!

Dodge City Wrestling - A Wild Western Extravaganza - Day Two

Yesterday, the dangerous Mexican desperado Nelson Cruz defeated US Marshall Austin Starr with the use of his own chains, haphazardly left on the apron by Dodge City sheriff, Davey Richards. Nelson Cruz was a free man, or so he thought. Davey Richards has re-imprisoned Cruz again, and made mayor Flehr announce a second jailtime match! This time, it's the sheriff himself who is charged with administering justice.

After yesterday's win over the Webb Brothers, Brother Dave broke all of his vows on his night out. He drank, smoked cigars, and enjoyed himself with the good ladies of the Lonely Rancher Brothel. As a result, he has been ejected from the Monastery of the Red Rose. Brother Senshi, the senior monk of the order will test a new applicant for the monk today, as the oriental Shingo tests his mettle against Senshi.

It's new religion vs old religion as the Indian girl Alere Little Feather faces off with the pious Sister Alyson, and Alere's father, the native american Tatanka debuts against Conrad Kennedy III. All this and more, tonight, at Dodge City Wrestling!

definitely different and interesting way to go.  Kudos for trying something new and different good sir.

It might take some time to completely sell me on it, but I'll definitely be a-watchin'  :)
