GLWF Action TV: 12/31/05...

americamamushiPosted on 11/14/06 at 21:46:00

Welcome to a special afternoon New Years Eve edition of Action TV!  Tonight we plan on saying good bye to 2005 with a bang as we've got four matches lined up for you all on this beautiful Saturday afternoon.  We've got the sequel to last week's triple threat match where Ernest Miller came out victorious by causing Tank Toland to pass out in a cross armbreaker as Rene Dupree, Eric Young and the other half of the tag team champions Mistico face off.  We'll also see two matches that have caused quite a buzz on the GLWF website as Ron Killings will once again take on Mr. Kennedy in an attempt to teach him some humility and in the main event of the evening we'll see two of GLWF's most technically gifted athletes square off yet again and this time it'll be two-out-of-three falls in an attempt to settle the score once and for all, but first we've got Delirious in action against a special guest from Japan: Ebessan!  Lets get down to the ring for the opening match.

Before Clara Michaels can make the ring introductions she's interrupted by Michael Shane and his right hand man Chris Masters.  Shane once again starts in on Samoa Joe.  He talks about their ladder match and drops blatant hints as to the true nature of the match.  This prompts Samoa Joe and Traci Brooks to come out from behind the curtain with a microphone of their own.  Samoa Joe (who still seems to be in the dark about Traci's involvement) tells Shane that he doesn't understand what his problem is.  Joe finally showed that when it was just one on one that he was the better man and that all these months Michael Shane needed help in order to retain the Heavyweight title.  Traci tries to coax Samoa Joe to the back, but he seems adamant about staying out here and hashing things out with the ex-champion.  Michael Shane finally clears the air and tells Joe "Thats the thing Joe... you didn't beat me one on one fair and square.  That little harlot at your side got you the win.  Didn't you look at the tape?  Didn't you think that since, after all those months, all those matches, that there was something amiss when you beat me?"  Joe looks at Traci and looks confused.  Shane further explains to Joe that when they fell it was him that held onto the belt as they came crashing down.  It was him  that won the match just like its him that has consistently won in their encounters for the past year.  He should still be champion, not Joe, because Traci Brooks took the belt off of him and laid it on Joe before the ref came to.  "See Joe?  You still haven't beaten me."  Joe can't seem to believe what he's hearing.  He thought he had finally been able to get the best of Shane and prove that he was indeed the better man when it came down to a one on one encounter between the two, but his win was a lie.  Traci tries to apologize, but Joe doesn't seem like he's in a mood to discuss the matter with her at the moment.  After a moment of trying to come to terms with what he just learned he makes a challenge for next week.  It'll be Samoa Joe vs. Michael Shane for the Great Lakes Heavyweight title with managers banned form ringside!  Michael Shane agrees but reminds Samoa Joe that the last time they met one on one he came out on top... because he is the once and future king of GLWF.

Delirious vs. Ebessan (Un-Signed)

This match up was pretty odd from start to finish.  Technical classic this ain't, but it was a nice little comedy match to start the evening off.  The crowd really seemed to get into the light hearted nature of the match.  There was actually very little real wrestling involved, but it was an enjoyable spectacle in it's own right.  Ebessan seemed like he wanted to be Delirious' friend, going so far as to bring a bottle of champaign to the ring for Delirious which he apparently had accidentally drank already.  He seemed pretty sorry about that though.  Delirious also didn't seem to happy about the hug he received, but then again, Delirious is pretty... out there, so who knows.  Once they actually started to do something resembling wrestling they had a chop contest which featured Ebessan being too frightened to hit Delirious and convincing Delirious several times to let him get just one more in to help psyche himself up.  Delirious seemed to have finally had enough as instead of chopping Ebessan he hit a spinning heel kick and quickly followed it with the Invirtro Fertilization for the win.  After the match he proceeded to do somersaults around the ring and chase the referee with the empty champagne bottle.

Delirious pinned Ebessan with the Invitro Fertilization in 0:05:50.

Eric Young vs. Mistico vs. "The French Phenom" Rene Dupree

It took a little bit of coaxing to actually get Eric Young into the ring tonight.  He seemed like he would've been just fine on the outside of the ring watching, but eventually he did comply and entered the ring.  Of course, entering the ring so the match can get started and actually staying in the ring to wrestle were two different things because as soon as the bell ring Young cowered in the corner for a little bit before exiting post haste to the outside when Dupree whipped Mistico into the same corner.  Young did a good job of staying out of things during the match, unfortunately he wasn't doing it as some sort of strategy.  Dupree had a distinct advantage in the size and strength department over Mistico and managed to keep him pretty well grounded, not allowing him to take to the skies.  Mistico held his own in the grappling area, but Dupree was for the most part the aggressor with Mistico showing great resilience and ability to take punishment without backing down.  Eric Young's dumb luck that helped he and Toland in his debut helped him out again though amazingly.  Outside the ring Tank Toland was making his way down (and it was quite obvious his arm was still bothering him) and had a talk with Eric trying to get him to actually get into the ring and wrestle as this was a big opportunity.  Inside the ring Mistico low bridged Dupree and sent him tumbling out.  Mistico stayed in the ring to catch his breath.  Dupree recovered and noticed Eric Young standing near the corner post talking with Toland, both had their backs to him.  Dupree decided to ambush them as opposed to getting back into the ring and attacking Mistico right away.  He sized them up and charged, but Toland and Young moved away from the post just in the nick of time and Dupree hit head first.  It wasn't that they saw Dupree or anything Toland had just finally convinced Young to get back in the ring so they moved away from the corner post for Young to roll in, which he did.  Mistico was now however ready to party.  Right as Young got to his feet he charged in and scissored his legs around Young waste in an attempt at a bulldog but when he pushed himself back up to hit it something kicked in for Eric.  Whether it was instinct or just that dumb luck again, but Young managed to hit the neckbreaker.  He may not have planned to but he just hit his finisher, the Wheelbarrow Neckbreaker and Eric seemed just as surprised as everyone else.  Toland frantically told Young to pin Mistico which after a second he did and got the three.

Triangle Match:
Eric Young defeated Rene Dupree and Mistico when E. Young pinned Mistico with the Wheelbarrow Neckbreaker in 0:11:34.

Ron Killings vs. Mr. Kennedy

The match started off hot as Mr. Kennedy took it upon himself to attack Ron Killings from behind as he made his entrance.  He clocked him with a microphone and proceeded to make the introductions himself as he stomped and punched a dazed Killings.  "This one sided beating is scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first the man getting his ass handed to him.  He's a big washed up loser that doesn't know when to quit... Ron... Killings!  Take a bow bitch cakes!  And the man currently beating the ever living crap out of him and the soon to be winner of this one-sided match... MISTER!  KENNEDY!  KEN-NEH-" it was at this point that Kennedy was cut off by Killings finally being able to mount some offense the the cheers of the fans.  Killings is staying on Kennedy and not letting him get a shot in edgewise now thats he has gained control of the match.  He's brawling with Kennedy around the ringside area until finally Kennedy slips into the ring.  Killings follows him in but is met with boots to the back.  Kennedy takes a second to point to his head as he slowly lifts Killings up apparently indicating how smart he is... which is ironic because once he turned his attention back to Killings he lost control of the match again.  Killings was on fire tonight and it seems like Kennedy wasn't expecting that when he came to wrestle tonight.  Killings tries for the Consequence, but Kennedy managed to get behind him as he's being lifted up and hits a back suplex.  The two trade back and forth a little while longer with Killings keeping an edge over Kennedy almost constantly as he's bringing a lot more to the table tonight than Kennedy anticipated.  Killings tried for the ax kick, but Kennedy turned and caught him while his leg was in the air and planted him with a single arm powerbomb.  He tried to follow it up with the Kenton Bomb but Killings rolled out of the way.  The two got to their feet and started exchanging punches with Killings eventually blocking and getting the upperhand.  He tries for the Consequence again, but Kennedy blocks it and hits a couple knees to the midsection.  He props Killings up on the top turnbuckle and gives him a couple punches from the mat.  Kennedy thinks he's got him and climbs up for the Green Bay Plunge... but Killings is fighting back and shoves Kennedy off!  Killings goes for a flying axehandle but when he comes down Kennedy catches him with a jawbreaker!  Smelling the blood in the water Kennedy pops Killings back up on the top turnbuckle... GREEN BAY PLUNGE!  Kennedy grabs the tights for good measure and gets the three count!

Mr. Kennedy pinned Ron Killings with the Green Bay Plunge in 0:15:27.

Two-Out-Of-Three Falls Main Event: Gunner Scott vs. Nigel McGuinness

And now for not only our main event of the evening, but the last GLWF match of 2005 and boy was it going to be a scorcher.  Gunner Scott and Nigel McGuinness have a love/hate relationship minus the love.  They are two of the most technically gifted wrestlers in GLWF and when they stick to actually wrestling they have put on a few clinics to say the least.  Of course, Nigel has showed before that once he gets frustrated in the land of fair and rule abiding wrestling that he's not afraid to take to underhanded trickeries to boost his chances of pulling out a win.  For the first quarter of the match things stayed even.  They each had some give and take and there was no inclination of who was going to get the first fall.  Nigel got on a nice streak though after counting an attempt at an exploder which he managed to finish up with a backslide for the first fall.  It would've most likely only have been a near fall though had he not put his feet on the ropes for leverage.  Regardless neither the ref nor Scott new that he did it and the first fall of the match was in the books, giving Nigel the advantage at the moment.  Nigel seemed pretty confident at this point and started jawing at Scott about how it was only a matter of time now and that he really is the best technical wrestler in GLWF, not Gunner.  He even, out of the kindness of his heart (hey, his words not mine) offered Gunner a "free hammerlock" to start off the second fall of the match.  Scott wasn't sure about it but eventually took it.  Well, it was more like he grabbed Nigel's arm and then a half second later hit a big german suplex which stunned Nigel long enough for a three count evening up the score.  Nigel was stunned, then livid.  Scott and the fans found humor in it but not McGuinness to tried to argue with the ref that the fall didn't count and wasn't fair, unfortunately for Nigel the three count stands.  At this point Austin Aries came down to the ring to try and help out.  He tried to argue with the ref too, getting up on the apron to do so.  Aries got a little heated in his argument and shoved the ref who sent him packing back to the locker room.  Nigel and Aries couldn't believe it.  Aries just cocked things up for his stablemate as any hope he had of helping out with some interference was now dashed.  Nigel's game plan changed slightly after this.  He started bringing out the dirty tactics as he didn't want to lose this match because not only would that be a loss, but it would also mean in many people's eyes that Gunner was the superior technical wrestler which is something that Nigel McGuinness just didn't want.  The cheating only led him so far before Gunner overcame it and simply began to out wrestle him, even with his cheating.  The ref was trying to re-attach a turnbuckle pad that Nigel had taken off and it looked certain that Scott was going to take the third fall and the win tonight until Scott went for the overhead belly-to-belly suplex.  McGuinness raked the eyes and stumbled into the corner.  Scott followed him to the corner and went to grab Nigel, but Nigel had his iron in his hands and swung around clocking Scott hard in the head!  What a vicious shot!  Nigel dumps the iron on the outside and grabs Gunner, crotching him on the rope and hitting the Tower of London for the pin!  Nigel just stole the victory, but it doesn't look like he's done!  He's choking Scott!  The referee is trying to pull McGuinness off but can't.  Finally Guinness lets go and leaves the ring.  The ref tries to check on Gunner but Nigel and back and has a chair!  Chair shot to Scott while he's on the ground!  The ref is trying to get the chair away from McGuinness... chair shot on the ref!  He's wrapping the chair around Nigel's neck and starts stomping on it!  Nigel climbs the turnbuckle as security finally hits the ring, but before they can get to Gunner or Nigel he leaps off and lands on the chair!!  He exits the ring and security makes sure he's not going to get back in and EMTs hit the ring.  Nigel McGuinness just Pillmanized Gunner's throat!  Gunner is in very bad shape folks.  He's coughing up blood and the EMTs are being very careful of they neck as they try and get him out of the ring safely.  They finally get Scott out of the ring and start wheeling him out but here comes Nigel again!  He knocks over the stretcher and stomps at Gunner's neck!  He rips off the neckbrace and continues to stomp at the prone Gunner Scott until security manages to subdue him and carry him to the back as Nigel yells "I'm the best damn it!  And don't you forget it!  I'm the best!"

What a way to end 2005!  The night started out light but ended very darkly.  Eric Young miraculously got the win in his triple threat match and with Ernest Miller's win last week it seems to make the tag team champions the distinct underdogs in two weeks time when they put the titles on the line against Dupree & Miller and Team No Fear.  And it seems that Mr. Kennedy definitely has the toolset to back up his big talk as he got a win over Ron Killings tonight.  And then of course what was a great main event was marred by the post match actions of Nigel McGuinness who has definitely crossed the line here tonight.  We've learned that Gunner Scott has some undisclosed neck and throat injuries.  They aren't releasing exactly what those injuries are but they are said to be quite serious and will shelf Gunner Scott for an unknown period of time.  We wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery.  It's not a great way for him to start off the new year by any means although GLWF hopes to start off 2006 with as big a bang as we ended 2005, albeit without having anyone seriously and maliciously injured.  Next week at our normal time we'll bring you four great matches as Roadkill will be in action, we'll see Josh Abercrombie face Shannon Moore in a hardcore match as Moore's punishment for allegedly hitting Raven with a car several weeks ago (though the validity of that claim is really still in dispute, a formal accusation has been made and the case is closed) and if Shannon loses he's out of GLWF forever!  Also Harry Smith will get another chance at Alex Shelley and the GLWF Television title and in the main event it'll be Samoa Joe vs. Michael Shane 6 with managers banned from ringside.  Hopefully this time we'll get a definite and fair winner.  Joe will have to try not to dwell on the fact that he didn't truly win that Heavyweight title around his waist fair and square and concentrate on the match at hand.  Michael Shane remains confident as always, never technically having actually lost to Samoa Joe in singles action given the disputed ending to their last encounter, and has taken to referring to himself as "The Once and Future King" of GLWF.  Those four matches plus we'll have a big special surprise to kick of the new year that'll change the face of GLWF forever!  Be sure to join us next week at our normal time!  Happy new year everyone!

Great card,

Great to have GLWF back and rolling!

Hope Joe doesn't do anything crazy to Traci after finding out he didn't win cleanly. My money (if I had some) is Joe to hold on next week and get that monky of his back.

I might be the only one left who loves Kennedy so his win over Killings was great

looking foward to next week!
