EMPIRE WRESTLING FEDERATION

shapyPosted on 10/10/06 at 09:59:32

This fed exists through a "rip in the space time continuum." The roster, small as it is, is comprised of deceased, retired, non-active, and active wrestlers. A lot of the wrestlers are taken from different times of the last twenty something years. I've identified which "era" each wrestler is going to be active as in the fed. This also should help illustrate which gimmik they are being used as in the fed as well. The fed does not take place during any certain time period, just perhaps in a limbo state, but for record keeping purposes, the first year the fed starts is, 2001. My hopes and plans for this fed is to start small (roster, PPV's, etc), create and establish feuds, angles, and long-term members of the roster - and then build on it. I see the fed being run under the same status as TNA right now, or even ECW about a year or two before they folded. My intention is give you a great entertaining read. I hope you enjoy and will read beyond just the first 2 or 3 shows to see what's coming.

EMPIRE WRESTLING FEDERATION PRESENTS:
WRESTLE RAMA I
APRIL 29, 2001
MADISON SQUARE GARDEN; NEW YORK CITY
Attendance: 20,464
Promoted by: David Shapy
Commissioner: Bob Backlund
Commentators: Joey Styles & Jesse "The Body" Ventura
Ring Announcer: Howard Finkel

The Opening (4:02)
{Fireworks ignite to blast off the beginning of the show as raucous New York fans erupt with excitement. Joey Styles and Jesse Ventura welcome the pay-per-view audience and preview the world title tournament matches. Ventura predicts Shane Douglas to be victorious and win the title; then Styles promises the whole evening to be a great action-packed event.}

~World Title Tournament, Quarter-Final Match:
Shane Douglas (w/ Francine) defeated Rob Van Dam (w/ Bill Alfonso) with a small package. (12:13) *** 1/2
{Great opening match-up between two very intenses competitors. Shane received more heat from the crowd than Van Dam did getting over with them. During the match, Bill Alfonso chased and harrassed Francine around the ring. When Alfonso tried to assist RVD with a chair, the ref interveined and took the chair from him. At the same time, Francine climbed the ring apron and distracted Van Dam long enough for Douglas to regain his senses and catch RVD off guard with a quick small package for the win. Afterwards, Ventura congratulated Douglas on his win and wished him good luck. Van Dam left very disappointed while telling "Fonzy" to be quicker when he's going to interfer.}

~World Title Tournament, Quarter-Final Match:
Ricky Steamboat beat Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Luna Vachon) with a Flying Cross Body Press. (9:08) ** 1/2
{This match was mostly dominated by Bigelow while Steamboat opted to use defense as his offense. When the "Beast from the East" went to excute big power moves, "The Dragon" used Bigelow's own weight against him by bringing him down to the mat in several near pinfall attempts. Bam Bam thought he had Steamboat right where he wanted, as he was set to deliver a flying headbutt. Steamboat instinctively rolled out of the way, scaled the ropes and came flying off with a high cross body press. Ricky earned the victory and advanced to the semi-finals. Joey Styles says Ricky Steamboat has a bright future ahead of him, but how soon will it be?}

~World Title Tournament, Quarter Final Match:
Curt Hennig (w/ Jim Cornette) pinned Chris Benoit with the Perfect Plex. (15:22) ****
{A four star match up between two great and gifted mat technicians. Several near pinfall attempts from both men as well as a few close submission holds. When Benoit went for a northern lights suplex, Hennig brilliantly countered with his patented fisherman suplex, the "Perfect Plex," and was victorious over the "Crippler." Jim Cornette obnoxiously celebrated back to the dressing room as Hennig walked back very fatigued and holding his neck in pain.}

~World Title Tournament, Quarter Final Match:
Wrath and Sid Vicous fought to a double-countout. (7:23) *
{A brutal slug-fest with no regard to the rules is how this big match resulted. Respectfully, these two may be the biggest on the roster and were definitely very hungry for a fight. Both Sid and Wrath came close to being disqualified when refusing to break holds and acknowledge the ref's presence. Sid tossed Wrath over the top rope and immediately went after him to continue beating on him. Wrath took a hard hit into the ring post and then Sid charged at him, but Wrath ducked. Sid nailed the steel post hard. They exchanged stiff punches back and forth until the bell rang and they had been counted out. That didn't stop them from fighting though. They brawled all the way up the aisle and back to the locker room. Not even seven ref's could break them up. Ventura stated that this is far from over and can't wait to see who gets the best of who. Styles thinks that neither one of them were concentrated on the World title, but more so on destroying his opponent.}

~World Title Tournament, Quarter Final Match:
Rowdy Roddy Piper defeated Ravishing Rick Rude (w/ Dawn Marie) with a roll-over. (10:41) ** 1/2
{Piper was unquestionably the crowd favorite and yet the underdog as well. Dawn Marie did a nice job distracting Piper, and at times the ref, during the opening minutes of the match which enabled Rude to take control early on. The end came when Rude tried for a "Rude Awakening" and Piper broke out of it sending Rude into the ropes. Piper turned around and caught Rude in his arms as he bounced off the ropes. Piper fell backwards and rolled over Rude to quickly get a three count for the win. Rude was shocked he had been beat like that. Dawn Marie was furious and slapped Piper. The Rowdy one smiled and gave her a big wet kiss on her lips and then pushed her down on the mat. The fans cheered for Piper as he left. Joey Styles said that he is the wild card in the World title tournament.}

~Segment:
RAVEN (6:25)
{Completely unannounced, a bitter and unhappy Raven made his way to the ring. He climbed in and sat in the corner for almost two minutes while fans booed and heckled him. The ring announcer handed him the mic. Raven ripped into the fans saying they were ungrateful, stupid, and worthless. He then condemned the EWF for not putting him in the world title tournament and called it an injustice. He swore on his own dark, tormented soul that he'd seek and find revenge any way that he wants to on the EWF and its competitors. Finally, a few referee's made Raven leave the ring and escorted him back to the locker room.}

~World Title Tournament, Quarter Final Match:
Eddie Guerrero beat Marty Jannetty with the Frog Splash. (1:06) *
{Guerrero earned the very quick and even easier win over Jannetty with a huge assit from Raven. Eddie entered the ring first and waited for his opponent. As Jannetty walked out of the locker room and into the arena aisle way, he was ambushed from behind by Raven. Raven threw Jannetty into the guardrails, kicked him multiple times in the head, and finally gave him an "Evenflow" DDT on the unprotected hard floor. Raven rolled Jannetty into the ring and was once again escorted out by several ref's. Guerrero did not hesitate to demand the match to begin and climbed to the top rope. He flew off with a big Frog Splash and beat Jannetty to advance in the tournament without breaking a sweat.)

~6 Team Elimination Match: Hart Foundation/Harlem Heat/Headbangers VS. British Bulldogs/Road Warriors/Hardy Boys
Davey Boy Smith pinned Thrasher with a Running Power Slam. (6:19) -Headbangers eliminated-
Jim Neidhart beat Matt Hardy with the Hart Attack. (11:25) -Hardy Boys (w/ Lita) eliminated-
Booker T. defeated Davey Boy Smith with a Missle Dropkick. (15:21) -British Bulldogs eliminated-
Animal pinned Stevie Ray after the Doomsday Device. (19:49) -Harlem Heat eliminated-
Hawk pinned Bret Hart with an inside cradle. (26:34) -Hart Foundation eliminated-

Survivors: The Road Warriors ***

{A great match that displayed some of the very best tag teams in wrestling and definitely in the EWF. The Hart Foundation were very bitter about their loss and claimed the Road Warriors will get what's coming to them.)

~World Title Tournament, Semi Final Match:
Ricky Steamboat beat Shane Douglas (w/ Francine) with a Flying Cross Body Press. (13:50) ***
{Much to the dismay of Jesse Ventura, his pick of Douglas walking away with the World's title was nixed by Ricky Steamboat. On more than one occassion, it seemed as though Shane Douglas was going to beat "The Dragon." However, Steamboat was able to isolate Douglas in the middle of the ring and delivered a high flying cross body press for the pinfall. Fans applauded Ricky Steamboat for making it to the finals of the tournament.}

~Segment:
CURT HENNIG (4:46)
{A backstage interview conducted by Mean Gene Okerlund. An ailing, Curt Hennig stood along side his manager, Jim Cornette. Okerlund announced that do to the double countout between Wrath and Sid Vicious, there was no winner advancing and thus, Hennig will receive a bye for the semi-finals and go directly to the finals of the tournament. Jim Cornette said that makes no difference. Hennig could defeat the entire roster in one night if neccessary to win the World's title. Curt questionably looked at Cornette about that comment. He continued, saying that no matter what, Hennig will walk away champion tonight. Right before walking away, Curt claimed tonight will be "perfect."}

~World Title Tournament, Semi Final Match:
Rowdy Roddy Piper defeated Eddie Guerrero with a Top Rope DDT. (8:41) ** 1/2
{A very entertaining match. Eddie was more fresh than Piper, but still had his hands full. As Guerrero was climbing the ropes to deliver a frog splash, Piper quickly rose to his feet and pulled Eddie's legs out. Guerrero fell onto the top turnbuckle. Piper than hooked his head under his arm, and fell down hard with a DDT. Guerrero's head was driven hard into the mat from the top rope. It was enough for Piper to pin him and be the last man to make it to the finals.}

~Segment:
RICKY STEAMBOAT (3:57)
{Again backstage, Mean Gene asked "The Dragon" about his thoughts going in to the triangle match for the world title. Steamboat replied that both Piper and Hennig are great competitors, but no one has worked harder or wants it more than him. He said he respects both Piper and Hennig as well, but when the bell rings, respect is thrown out the door. When the last bell rings, Steamboat will be victorious and the EWF's first World champion.}

~14 Man Battle Royal:
  • Dean Malenko eliminated by Hardcore Holly (3:20)
    Kronus eliminated by Chris Jericho (5:18)
    Lance Storm eliminated by Yoshihiro Tajiri (5:56)
    Stevie Richards eliminated by Too Cold Scorpio (6:39)
    Al Snow eliminated by Hardcore Holly (8:02)
    Saturn eliminated by Buh Buh Ray & D-Von Dudley (8:51)
    William Regal eliminated by Yoshihiro Tajiri (10:23)
    Mikey Whipwrek eliminated by Chris Jericho (11:14)
    Buh Buh Ray Dudley eliminated by Too Cold Scorpio (12:49)
    D-Von Dudley eliminated by Yoshihiro Tajiri (12:51)
    Yoshihiro Tajiri eliminated by Chris Jericho (13:37)
    Hardcore Holly eliminated by Too Cold Scorpio (15:33)
    Chris Jericho eliminated by Too Cold Scorpio (17:59)

Winner: Too Cold Scorpio **

{Truly unpredictable. This match was full of hard hits, fast action, and surprising results. Scorpio came back from a 2-on-1 beat down from Hardcore Holly and Chris Jericho, and was able to make it of the battle royal alive, and as the winner.}

~Segment:
ROWDY RODDY PIPER (5:04)
{Piper was wired and ready to go into action. Mean Gene could hardly finish his questions before Piper jumped in with his answers. Basically, Piper made it clear that he was going to give Hennig and Steamboat "hell." Piper will have to be beaten to death before either one of them can walk away champion tonight. Piper came across as the more aggressive, energetic, and pumped up out of the 3 of them going into the match.}

~World Title Tournament Finals, Triangle Match:
Curt Hennig (w/ Jim Cornette) defeated Ricky Steamboat and Rowdy Roddy Piper when he pinned Piper with the Perfect Plex. (21:38) *** 1/2
(Curt Henning won the EWF World Title)

{An outstanding main event match. All 3 men gave it their all, but of course, only 1 could be victorious. In the end, it would be Jim Cornette's interference that aided in Hennig's win. Steamboat delivered his high cross body press on Curt, but was then distracted by Cornette, who was trying to stop the ref from making a 3 count. Steamboat chased Cornette and eventually caught him and decked him with a stiff right hand. But, it was too late, as simlutaneously, Hennig hooked Piper with the "Perfect Plex" and pinned him. Hennig immediately rolled out of the ring and embraced Jim Cornette. The two of them were completely battered and fatigued, but were able to muster enough strength to celebrate as Commissioner Bob Backlund awarded Curt with the EWF World's Heavyweight title. Inside the ring, Steamboat and Piper watched in disgust. Each of them blamed each other for Curt's win.}

The End (4:11)
{Ventura boasted about Curt Hennig's win and said he is a champion we can all be proud of. Styles rolled his eyes and bet that sooner or later, Curt will find himself in a lot of trouble and there will be no one to help him. Styles even remined people that Curt had one less match than Steamboat and Piper did, so it was a bit unfair in that regard. Ventura yelled at Styles for trying to diminish Curt's huge win and Curt's integrity as a World champion. Joey Styles thanked the fans for watching and told them to tune in this Thursday  for the EWF premiere of "Uncensored."}
