GR: Welcome back. Joining me tonight at ringside is one of Georgia Championship Wrestling's more colorful wresters, Playboy Buddy Rose. How are you tonight, Buddy?

BR: Gordon, do you ever get tired of the sound of your own voice?

GS: I don't know what you're talking about. Tonight's first match pits The Moondogs, Spike and Cujo, against Jimmy and Johnny Valiant, The Valiant Brothers.

Match Summary
GCW got the new year off to a wild start with a bloody, chaotic match between Captain Lou Albano's Moondogs and The Valiant Brothers. Foregoing tags, all four wrestlers immediately attacked each other and lots of brawling took place in and out of the ring. It came to an end when Jimmy Valiant held Spike in an abdominal suplex until he passed out.

The Valiant Brothers (Jimmy Valiant and Johnny Valiant) defeated The Moondogs (Moondog Cujo and Moondog Spike) when J. Valiant defeated Spike when Spike passed out in an abdominal stretch in 0:03:28.
Rating: **

GS: That was some match. What do you think of the Valiant Brothers, Buddy?

BR: I think the Valiants are a bunch of no-talent showboats. Any halfways-decent pair of wrestlers could beat them no problem.

GS: Let's talk about your upcoming match this Saturday against the Eight Wonder of the World, Andre the Giant, making his first appearance in Georgia Championship Wrestling!

BR (agitated): Now see, listen here Gordon. This fight... this fight is a slap in the face to me. Here is Andre the Giant, makin' his first appearance in GCW, and he gets to go up against ME! He should be on a lower card, facin' Norvell Austin or one of the Moondogs, someone like that. I'm a main-eventer, Gordon! I consider this an insult, an absolute insult!

GS: Well, Andre has a very prestigious history. He's held numerous titles in other federations. I suppose they wanted to start him off with a worthy opponent.

BR: History don't mean nothin'! You've got to earn your stripes here in GCW! An' why are you smirking at me like that? I don't want to talk about this any more. Go ahead and introduce the next match before I knock you from here to Columbus!

GS: Alright, for our second match of the evening, 'Superstar' Bill Dundee takes on 'Number One' Paul Jones. Both of these men are very accomplished technical wrestlers. This should be a good one.

Match Summary
The match lived up to Gordon Solie's expectations as Dundee and Jones traded a dazzling array of punches, kicks, whips, clotheslines, holds, suplexes, and power bombs for thirteen minutes before Dundee loosened up Jones with a Doctor Bomb and finished him off with a German suplex. A fine showing for both wrestlers, but a particularly impressive win for Dundee. The crowd showed their appreciation for both men in the ring.

Bill Dundee pinned Paul Jones after a German suplex in 0:13:02.
Rating: *** 1/4

GS: Holy cow, that was a beauty of a match, eh Buddy? After this commercial break, we're coming back with Porkchop Cash against 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer, and an interview with the American Dream, Dusty Rhodes! He'll be talking about the NWA Heavyweight Title Tournament. You won't want to miss it!

[commercial]

GS: We're back. Porkchop Cash is in the ring and ready for 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer. Accompanying Sawyer to ringside is Paul E. Dangerously, as well as Dick the Bruiser and the Mongolian Stomper! I don't like the looks of this, folks.

Match Summary
Porkchop was dominating the match against Sawyer until Dick the Bruiser intervened, pulling the top rope down on Porkchop and sending him crashing to the floor, where Sawyer, Paul Dangerously, The Bruiser and The Mongolian Stomper proceeded to kick and beat him. The bell was rung quickly, giving Porkchop a DQ win, but he sustained injuries and had to be helped away from the ring.

Porkchop Cash defeated Buzz Sawyer by disqualification in 0:04:41.
Porkchop Cash tore his right biceps. He will be out for approximately 6 cards.
Rating: * 1/4
[Dick the Bruiser interfered against Porkchop Cash.]

GS: There's no other way to put this. That was just a travesty, folks. I hope the GCW's disciplinary committee comes down very hard on Paul Dangerously and those wrestlers. A shocking display!

BR: Oh, quit crying, you big baby.

GS: And now, the moment a lot of you have been waiting for. Our interview with The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes! Come on over here, Dusty!

[Dusty joins Solie on stage]

GS: Dusty, last month you made the finals for the NWA Heavyweight Championship Tournament, only to lose the vacant title to Dory Funk, Jr. What can you tell us about that?

DR: Well, lemme tell you somethin', daddy. Dory is a hell of a wrestler. He got the belt and he earned it! Make no mistake, he earned it! But you know that ol' Dusty ain't gonna lay down for nobody. Dory's defendin' his belt against Ric Flair at the end of the month in Madison Square Garden, up there in New York City, and I'm going to be there personally. But it don't matter who walks away with the belt that night. It don't matter if it's Dory Funk or Ric Flair, it don't matter! 'Cause whomever it is is gonna have to walk into *this* building next month and defend his title against The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes. And you know that Dory ain't stupid and Flair ain't stupid. They ain't pretty, neither, but they ain't stupid! Dory Funk knows, and Flair knows, that Dusty is gonna come hard for that NWA Heavyweight Belt. And make no mistake, on that night, Dusty is going to be walking out of that ring with it around his waist!

GS: Dusty, what about the challengers here in GCW? Billy Graham, Johnny Valentine, GCW's newest star Andre the Giant, the man you're facing tonight, Dutch Mantel?

DR: Oh, come on now, Gordon... what are you talking about? Dusty isn't afraid of Billy Graham, Dusty is not afraid of Johnny Valentine, or the Giant, or Dutch Mantel. There ain't a wrestler out there that can beat Dusty in a fair fight. Not Billy Graham, not Dutch Mantel and certainly not this weasel. (pointing to Buddy Rose)

(Rose stands up and gets in Dusty's face)

BR: So I'm a weasel, am I? Well then, fat man, when do I get my title shot? I'm ready for you right now!

Buddy Rose tears off his shirt and steps on the ring apron.

DR: Alright, I'll tell you what, Playboy. I better give you a shot tonight, 'cause after the Giant gets done with you this Saturday, there ain't gonna be enough of you left to wipe off my shoe. But we already got wrestlers waitin' to use the ring, so why don't we give the folks a REAL show for the main event tonight? You, me, and Dutch Mantel in a three-way dance for the title! How about it?

BR: You're on!

A voice immediately comes from offscreen...

Now hold on a minute...

GS: Wait a minute, who is that? Ladies and gentlemen, it's 'Superstar' Billy Graham!

Billy Graham walks on screen.

BG: Gordon Solie, correct me if I'm wrong, but am I not the #1 contender for the Georgia Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Title?

GS: Yes, I believe that's right.

BG: Well then, I think that if Mr. Dusty Rhodes is extending invitations to dance for his title, he's asking the wrong partner. Buddy Rose can't dance. Buddy has two left feet. Dutch Mantel can't dance. He doesn't have the moves. Listen, y'all can't have a Main Event with a bunch of bit players. You need some heat, baby. You need a Superstar. And there's only one Superstar in the Georgia Championship Wrestling, baby, and it ain't Bill Dundee. That Superstar is me, the man with the plan, the one and only, Billy Graham.

DR: I'll tell ya what, Superstar, you talk a lot, but I don't think you have what it takes! You show up for the Main Event with your dancing shoes, and we'll see who waltzes out tonight with the belt!

GS: Wait a minute, tonight's Main Event is going to be a FOUR-way dance for the Heavyweight title?

DR: That's right, daddy! I told you that nobody in GCW can take my belt, and I meant it! The Dream is gonna show you all who the best wrestler in Georgia Championship Wrestling is, and when I get my shot at the NWA Title, I'll show you who the best wrestler in the WORLD is!

GS: Well there you have it, folks! A four-way dance between The American Dream Dusty Rhodes, Dutch Mantel, Playboy Buddy Rose and Superstar Billy Graham at tonight's Main Event! Stay tuned, you won't want to miss this one!

GS: Welcome back. We'll now get a look at one of the best young tag units in wrestling today, The Young Guns, Billy Jack Haynes and Sam Houston, as they take on two formidable and accomplished wrestlers, Rocky 'Soul Man' Johnson and The Freight Train, Rufus R. Jones. Let's get to the action.

Match Summary
This was a tremendous tag match, featuring four talented wrestlers. Haynes and Houston worked the tags to perfection, frequently getting both a two wrestlers in to work a double-maneuver. Johnson and Jones concentrated on power maneuvers, wearing the two younger wrestlers down. Rocky Johnson particularly impressed throughout the match, countering some strong maneuvers and eventually isolating Houston so he couldn't tag out. After a series of slams, he covered Houston for the pin.

Rocky Johnson And Rufus R. Jones (Rocky Johnson and Rufus R. Jones) defeated
The Young Guns (Billy Jack Haynes and Sam Houston) when Rocky Johnson pinned
S. Houston after a hiptoss in 0:27:11.
Rating: *** 1/4

GS: A tremendous showing for Rocky Johnson and Rufus R. Jones. Are they ready to take on the GCW Tag Team champions, The Original Midnight Express? Next up, we have a doozy for you. Top contenders 'Handsome' Johnny Valentine and Big John Studd will wrestle in a 30-minute, no countout, no disqualification match.

Match Summary
To the delight of the fans, Valentine and Studd went at each other like crazed dogs. This was just a good old-fashioned brawl, with Valentine and Studd beating the crap out of each other. The momentum shifted back and forth, and the crowd loved it. Studd looked like he had it wrapped up until Valentine made an awesome counter and stuck a surprising tornado DDT for the win. A rematch has already been scheduled.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Johnny Valentine pinned Big John Studd after a tornado DDT in 0:27:58.
Rating: **** 3/4

GS: Holy cow, what a match! Valentine comes away with a victory in this hard-fought bout. Add him to the lengthy list of GCW wrestlers who pose a threat to Dusty Rhodes' Heavyweight Title reign. It's going to be hard to top that match, but we just might do it tonight! When we commercial, tonight's Main Event! Dusty Rhodes, Superstar Billy Graham, Dutch Mantel and Playboy Buddy Rose! A four-way dance for the Heavyweight Title!

[commercial]

GS: We're back, and we're ready to go for tonight's Main Event! All four wrestlers are in the ring and the Heavyweight Belt is on the line! Let's get to the action!

Match Summary
This match was an instant classic and should be talked about for years to come. Dusty Rhodes withstood a combined assault from Graham, Rose and Mantel through the majority of the match, taking everything they dished out at him and giving some back as the crowd reached a fever pitch. Finding himself on the ropes, Rhodes found a second life, beating Graham and Rose back temporarily and managing to get a pin in on Mantel at around the thirty-minute mark as Buddy Rose, in a position to interfere, let him do it. It didn't help Rose as The American Dream pinned him easily a couple of minutes later before settling into a violent brawl with Billy Graham. Rhodes broke Graham's bearhug and delivered a suplex, a piledriver and the Bionic Elbow for the win.

4-Man Battle Royal:
Dusty Rhodes won a 4-man Battle Royal:
x Rhodes defeated Mantel after a roundhouse right in 0:30:14
x Rhodes defeated Rose in 0:32:22
x Rhodes defeated B. Graham after the Bionic Elbowdrop in 0:33:26
Rating: *****
(Dusty Rhodes retained the GCW Heavyweight Championship.)

GS: Ladies and gentlemen, I don't really have the words. That was one of the most amazing matches I've ever seen. Dusty Rhodes withstood the combined assault of three of GCW's greatest wrestlers and walked out of the ring with his championship belt intact as he promised. Simply amazing!

Well, that's all the time we have left in this broadcast. This Saturday night, GCW Tag Team Champions, The Original Midnight Express, put their belts on the line against The Valiant Brothers! Also, the GCW debut of the Eight Wonder of the World, Andre The Giant! And Valentine vs. Studd, Part 2! We'll see you there!

Hey Money what can I say great card. Loved the commentary! man you paint a pretty picture. Was suprised Valentine got past Studd but it was a agreat match. LOVED how you use Dusty and the man kept his word and won the 4 way. Looking foward to the next show

great work

Hey, thanks Lazy. My favorite thing about this era was the mic work, so I tried to capture some of that (not that you can fully capture Dusty Rhodes or Billy Graham with just text). As for Valentine over Studd, hey, Johnny Valentine's a bona-fide Hall of Famer, one of the best ring brawlers ever. He could make the crowd pop even in his forties, when I saw him. I thought a Valentine-Studd throwdown would be a good match, but I didn't anticipate it would be that good. My philosophy is you can't get too much of a good thing, so they're gonna do it again!

Shhhh. ;)

Actually, I was probably thinking of all those times that Dusty's tag team partner turned on him and wound up making it a 3-on-1. This had to have happened at least seven or eight times that I remember, making you wonder why Rhodes tagged with anyone. :)

I'll warn you guys now that I probably will stretch the boundaries of the types of matches that occurred during this time period. Just think of GCW as being, uh, "forward-thinking."
