Pre-show

- We see footage from yesterday, as Scurvy Dogs sacrificied some virgin blood from Spud under the full moon, under the Amazing Darkstone's guidance. The illusionist told the pirates that they would be ready for tomorrow's match.

- Hart Foundation 2.0 d. Scurvy Dogs in a dark match, when Spud suddenly became afraid of the ring again. Burchill tried to fend off the Canadians as well as he could, but was nailed with a powerslam / SSP combo.

- We see Kennedy exit the doctor's office, smiling. Lacey awaits him, and he asks if the deal is on. Lacey says it is.

- Scurvy Dogs return to their "cave", and to their horror, discover that the chest with Spanish gold is gone. Burchill dramatically falls down to one knee and curses the Amazing Darkstone for tricking them so. Spud realizes he will always be afraid of the ring, and starts sobbing.

- Lacey tells her boys that since Johnny Nitro has been medically cleared, he will fight in the cage match instead of Merciless. The European becomes annoyed, but Lacey tells him she's got a match for him as well.

SUMMER SLAM 2007

It's July 22nd, and we welcome you to the biggest party of the summer, coming to you live on PPV from Kansas City, Kansas. We are of course talking about Summer Slam 2007! We have an impressive card for tonight; all titles will be on the line, in addition to tag-team action, women wrestling and grudge matches. Jamie Noble will defend his Strong-Style Championship against the Pro Noah star Kenta, Rey Mysterio takes on Chris Benoit for the WWC World Heavyweight Title, and in the main event, Second City Saints and MNM clashes for the last time, this time inside a 15 foot high steel cage. All this and more, from this summer's biggest party!

Test vs Kennedy

Mr Kennedy came out in a street clothes for this match, carrying a piece of paper. Test wanted to know what the hell was going on, and Kennedy said he had been to see a physician, who told him he had to stay calm for a month in order to heal up his back, which was brutally targetted by Test last Friday. Test says that's bullshit, and that he came here to wrestle, not listen to Kennedy's excuses. Kennedy tells Test not to worry, because he has taken the liberty of getting a replacement. With that, the Bavarian Butcher, Merciless, runs in and clocks Test from behind with a clothesline.

Test vs Merciless

Merciless had the element of surprise here tonight, and it took some time before Test managed to get his bearings, blocking an uppercut attempt and hitting several punches himself. Kennedy stayed at ringside cheering for Merciless, and even got his hands dirty a couple of times, striking out at Test when the opportunity presented itself.
Kennedy struck Test repeatedly with a baseball bat, targetting Test's right hand. It proved successful when, later on, Test tried taking Merciless down with the Test Drive. Test just couldn't pull it off. Test turned his attention to Kennedy, and was surprised by Merciless who decked Test with a flying lariat. The European then hoisted Test up in the Death Shot to win his biggest win to date. Kennedy congratulated Merciless with a job well done, but if I were Kennedy, I would be watching my back.

Merciless pinned Test with the Death Shot in 0:10:57.

- A camera spots Randy Orton walking backstage. None of the other workers wants anything to do with him, and Orton sits alone in the back, watching the show from a television screen. You can see Orton gripping a poster of Benoit in his hand, his eyes focused on the screen.

The Dojo vs Mexicools

Six man tag action as the Dojo wrestled the Mexicools. A battle of cultures, a battle of styles, but not least, a battle of respect.

This was chaos from the get-go, as none of the wrestlers cared too much about tagging and that shit. Super Crazy got close right away, scoring with his moonsault on Doi. Unfortunately, Dragon Kid was nearby, and broke it up. Order was eventually restored, and the Dojo started working on Super Crazy, hitting him several stiff moves that almost put him down for the 3. Crazy finally tagged Psicosis, but the Dojo were on him like a pack of wolves as well. Things didn't look too well for the World Cup winners. Juvi tried turning things around, blocking Dragon Kid's Japanese armdrag attempt and taking him down with a Mexican armdrag instead before hitting the Juvi Driver. Genki made the save. Juvi then went at it with Genki, and put him down with the Juvi Driver. This time, Psicosis and Crazy took care of Kid and Doi, giving the victory to the Mexicools in this electrifying six-man tag!

Mexicools (Juventud, Psicosis and Super Crazy) defeated
The Dojo (Dragon Kid, Genki Horiguchi and Naruki Doi) when Juvi pinned Horiguchi
with the Juvi Driver in 0:12:36.

Lacey vs Melina

Former and current manager of MNM in WWC's first Women's match on PPV.

Lacey did put Melina through a table only two days ago, and Melina was obviously in pain here tonight. Lacey continued the ass-whopping, brutalizing Melina on the oustide by sending her into the ringpost on several occasions. Melina has obviously picked up a thing or two from her boyfriend, as she put Lacey into the Anaconda Vice! She hasn't perfected it yet, and Lacey was able to reach the ropes. They continued to engage in engage in a submission war, with Lacey finally being able to lock in a Fujiwara armbar on Melina's injured arm, causing her to instantly tap out. Lacey held on for good measure, before the ref was able to tear her away.

Lacey made Melina submit to a Fujiwara armbar in 0:08:32.

- We see Rey Mysterio's wife Angie and their children, Dominick and Aalyah arriving at the arena. Rey asks what they're doing there. Angie says she wants to see him beat the man who kidnapped them. Rey says this is not a good idea, but as in most relationships, the man obeys the woman.

KENTA vs Jamie Noble(c) for the WWC Strong-Style Championship

Noble is back on US soil after a very successfull Japanese tour. He managed to earn the ire of KENTA, however, who has followed Noble to America for a title match. Noble was his cocky self when he entered the ring, but when the determined KENTA made his way down, you could see Noble getting visibly nervous.

KENTA attacked Noble with some vicious elbows right away, and Noble had to escape to the outside for a breather. That didn't stop KENTA, who flew at him, knocking him into the guardrail. Noble then tried to escape under the ring, but KENTA pulled him back out. Noble did find a trashcan lid beneath the ring, however, and smashed KENTA in the head with it.

KENTA and Noble didn't try to make each other submit, at least not in the start. Instead, they tried to knock each other senseless. KENTA with his stiff kicks and elbows, Noble with hard rights and lefts, and the occasional shot with the trashcan lid. Finally, Noble was able to get KENTA in the Dragon Sleeper, a hold which nobody has been able to get out of yet. Amazingly, KENTA reached the ropes. Ref Korderas asked for Noble to let go, but the champion wouldn't listen. Korderas tried to break the hold himself, but Noble was like a pitbull, not wanting to break the move. In the end, the ref had no choice but to disqualify Noble. Noble retains, but not in a clean fashion.

KENTA defeated Jamie Noble by disqualification in 0:13:45.

John Cena vs Rob Van Dam w/Bill Alfonso

Bill Alfonso is back at RVD's side, and the experienced manager urged ref Korderas to check Cena's pockets. Korderas found a piece of chain, and took it away. As he did, Cena brutally assaulted Van Dam, who fought back with a series of chops. The crowd was really against Cena at this point, with chants of "you can't wrestle", directed at him.

Cena kept the momentum for large periods of the match, and saw an opportunity when Korderas was knocked out after a flying shoulderblock attempt. Cena was searching Korderas' pockets for the chain, when Bill Alfonso ran in with a chair. Cena ducked, causing Alfonso to smash RVD straight between the eyes. Cena made the cover, but the ref didn't recover right away, and Van Dam was able to kick out. Van Dam fought back, hitting Cena with several spin kicks, before dumping him with a bodyslam and the rolling thunder. Van Dam climbs the turnbuckle, but Cena is playing possum! Cena gets up and clocks Van Dam straight in the face as he's on his way down! Van Dam looks like he has been beaten senseless, and Cena covers him for the win.

As Alfonso attends to Van Dam, a smiling Cena is seen leaving the ring, brass knuckles in hand!

John Cena pinned Rob Van Dam after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:10:32.

Chris Benoit vs Rey Mysterio(C) for the WWC World Heavyweight Title

Chris Benoit's greedy and selfish plan has led him this far, to Summer Slam 2007 and a title match against Rey Mysterio. Somewhere in Rey's head must be the thought that Benoit quite possibly was behind the kidnapping of Rey's wife and children, not the innocently convicted Randy Orton. Still, Rey is a professional, and didn't let that come in the way of wrestling cleverly here tonight.

The two were evenly matched, and the momentum shifted suddenly and frequently throughout. Benoit tried bringing Rey down on the ground, but Rey is no slouch and stood toe to toe with the Crippler. The champ dizzied Benoit with a series of headscissors, before bringing him down with the sitdown faceslam. Benoit kept on trying to lock in the Crossface, but Mysterio always oiled his way out of it. Benoit then went for the flying headbutt, but Rey threw him to the mat and connected with a flying legdrop. Rey made the crowd mark out when he drop toeholded Benoit into the ropes and hit him with the 619. Rey connected with the West Coast Pop, but Benoit kicked out! Rey went for a german suplex, but Benoit landed on his feet and decked Rey with a lariat. Benoit went for the Crippler Crossface, and as Rey screamed out in pain, he realized he was in the middle of the ring. Rey tapped out, giving the World Heavyweight Championship to Benoit in an excellent match! Benoit grabbed the belt and left the ring, pausing for just an instant to stare at the sorrowful eyes of Rey's wife and children, ringside to see their father and husband defeat the man who orchestrated their kidnapping. Benoit showed no remorse as he went to the back.

Chris Benoit made Rey Misterio submit to the Crippler Crossface in 0:21:18.

MNM w/Lacey vs Second City Saints w/Melina for the WWC World Tag Team Titles

It's time for your main event of the evening, Second City Saints defending their tag-team titles against MNM in a 15-foot-steel cage. Nitro was medically cleared for this match, and it will be interesting to see if he is 100%.

To say that these four guys hate each is an understatement. The tension was palpable, and with no warning, Punk charged Nitro, trying to choke and break his injured neck. Mercury got him away from him, but was taken out by a Cabana lariat. The match was on, and senior official Nick Patrick had his hands full in trying to separate them and get some order restored. Cabana and Punk sent both members of MNM into the cage, where they were busted open early on. Punk hit the Welcome to Chicago on Nitro, while Cabana took a fleeing Mercury down from the cage wall with a belly-to-back suplex.

On the outside, Lacey was screaming her lungs out to her men that they had to get a grip and start doing something. After several minutes of the Saints dominating, Nitro was able to duck a Shining Wizard attempt from Punk and hit him with a dropkick to the face. MNM went at it now, busting both Saints open in the very same fashion as themselves. They brought Cabana down with the Snapshot, but a bloody Punk made the save. Lacey pulled out a couple of handcuffs which she managed to smuggle into the ring under the cage walls. Nitro grabbed them, trying to restrain Cabana, but ended up handcuffing himself AND Cabana to the ropes. As they lay there punching at each other, Punk brought Mercury to the top turnbuckle, looking for the Pepsi Plunge. Mercury fought out of it, and tried to climb out of the cage. Punk climbed after him, and they found each other standing on top of the 15-foot steelcage, slugging at each other, trying to get the upper hand so they could climb down on the outside for the WWC Tag-Team Titles. Punk grabbed Mercury, trying to suplex him out of the ring! He changes his mind, and turns toward the ring. In an incredible move, Punk superplexes Mercury off of the 15-foot steelcage and into the ring. Ref Patrick counts the pinfall, and the Second City Saints retains in a fabolous match to end this great PPV!

Great PPV with an excellent main event. I love seeing the tag team titles have greater pretige every once and a while.

it seemed a little short though for a PPV. With only 6 matches (1 of them being a women's match), it seems like you could have added to the undercard a bit. Still top notch, though.
rey619Posted on 10/09/06 at 12:15:08

Actually, it's 7 matches... but I see your point.

I wouldn't say that the tag-team titles are more prestigious per say, but I use a lot of indy influences when running this fed, one of them being that cage matches are last on a card. The final spot was blatantly stolen from when Punk beat Jimmy Rave with a superplex off the cage, though. ;)

Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
